The contact owns a 2013 Cadillac ATS. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in a parking lot, the vehicle was shifted to reverse and then shifted to drive however, the vehicle moved backward. The brakes would not engage when depressed to stop the vehicle from moving backward. The contact applied parking brakes to stop the vehicle. The contact had assistance from an independent mechanic who helped to move the vehicle into a parking space. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired and remained at the parking lot. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V338000 (Power Train). The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
While out driving, the vehicle would not shift gear into park upon arriving at a parking lot. The car was transported to an nearby garage and the transmission shift cable was found to be melted/severed upon undercarriage inspection. This is a recall for other models of 2013-2014 ATS. If the transmission shift cable detaches while the vehicle is being driven, the transmission gear selection may not match the indicated gear and the vehicle may move in an unintended or unexpected direction, increasing the risk of a crash. Furthermore, when the driver goes to stop and park the vehicle, despite selecting the 'PARK' position, the transmission may not be in 'PARK.' If the vehicle is not in the 'PARK' position there is a risk the vehicle will roll away as the driver and other occupants exit the vehicle or anytime thereafter. A vehicle rollaway increases the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.
Advance lighting system the headlights stick up in the air when they should be leveled out. It’s a danger when driving at night.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CADILLAC OF NOVI (41350 GRAND RIVER AVE, NOVI, MI 48375, (866)613-0742) AND WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V338000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
THE TOUCH SCREEN CONTROL ON THE CENTER CONSOLE IS NOT WORKING AS DESIGNED. I AM UNABLE TO TO CHANGE FUNCTIONS, SUCH AS CHANGING RADIO CONTROLS TO AIR CONDITIONING CONTROLS. I AM UMABLE TO NAVIGATE THE SCREEN UP/DOWN AND SIDE TO SIDE. IT BOUNCES AROUMD UNCONTROLLABLE AND WHEN I DRIVE THE VEHICLE.
I BEEN HAVING ELECTRONIC ISSUES SICE I GOT IT FROM DEALER IN TEMPE AZ CALLED AUTO NATION. THE MAIN TOUCH SCREEN IN COCKPIT WON'T POWER UP HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES IN PAST FOR REPAIR/REPLACE THIS WILL BE THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPEN AN NOT ALL PARTS AND SERVICE WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY I HAD THRU ALSTATE AN IT WAS A COUPLE HUNDRED OUT OF POCKET FOR THE NEW HARNESS ASSEMBLY THAT CADILLAC HAD FOR A NEW TOUCH SCREEN ASSEMBLY THAT WAS INSTALLED THE LAST TIME IN 2018 AN NOW IT'S HAPPENED AGAIN SCREEN WON'T TURN ON AC CONTROLS WON'T WORK AN TURN SIGNALS ARE INTERMITTENT ALMOST GOT REAR-ENDED DRIVING THROUGH TOWN BECAUSE TURN SIGNAL WOULD NOT INDICATE DIRECTION I WAS TURNING AN OTHER DRIVER HAD BRAKES LOCKED UP SLIDING TOWARDS ME BUT LUCKILY STOPPED WITH ONLY INCHES APART VERY SCARY. BUT IT COMING IN TO SUMMER A AC IS A MUST TO HAVE. BUT NOW SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED THERE IS A BAD POWER DRAW SOMEWHERE THAT KEEPS MAKING MY BATTERY GO DEAD SO CAR IS PARKED TILL I CAN ENOUGH FINANCES TO COVER MECHANIC. ON STARTUP THE HEADLIGHTS AUTO LEVEL. ISSUE ARISES WHEN HEADLIGHTS DO NOT PROPERLY LEVEL AND ARE LEFT AT UNSAFE POSITIONS.
THE VEHICLE WAS LEAVING A PARKING SPACE WHEN THE POWER STEERING JUST STOPPED WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE SERVICE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON ANDHAD TO GET THE TOWED TO THE MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC FOUND THE POWER STEERING BOLTS CORRODED AND IN ORDER TO REMOVED THEM HE HAD TO REMOVE THE RACK AND PINION AND ALSO FOUND THOSE BOLTS TO BE CORRODED. MY DAUGHTER WAS USING THE VEHICLE AND USUALLY TRAVELS ON THE HIGHWAY TO WORK
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON 2.5.21. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND IT NEEDED A HOSE AND SENSOR WHICH WAS FIXED. ON THE MULTIPOINT INSPECTION,IT WAS NOTED THAT THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS LEAKING WHICH CAN CAUSE THE TIRES TO SEIZE WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR ONLY HAS 63K MILES ON IT. IT IS A 2013 CADILLAC ATS TURBO.THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY EXPIRED AND THEY WILL NOT COVER THE REPLACEMENT.HOWEVER, I DID FIND A RECALL ON THE CTS MODEL. I ALSO SEE A LARGE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS ON THE ATS MODEL, AS WELL. THE DEALER QUOTED ME $5K TO REPLACE THE DIFFERENTIAL WITH ONLY A 1 YEAR WARRANTY. I BELIEVE THIS IS A RESULT OF POOR QUALITY AND CRAFTMANSHIP AND THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE ATS MODELS, AS WELL. THE FACT THAT THEY ONLY OFFER A 1 YEAR WARRANTY IS ALSO CONCERNING. THIS WOULD REFLECT THEY KNOW OF THE ISSUE, AND WILL ONLY COVER IT FOR THE SHORTEST AMOUNT POSSIBLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 103,500. *BF
POWER STEERING JUST WENT OUT ON THE VEHICLE. WE STARTED THE VEHICLE TODAY WITH 73,000 MILES AND WHEN WE WENT TO PULL OFF ONCE IN DRIVE THE CAR GAVE A POWER STEERING WARNING APPEARED. WHEN WE TRY TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL IT MAKES THIS LOUD SQUEALING COMPUTERIZED SOUNDING NOISE.
MY CUE SCREEN HAS COMPLETELY SPIDERWEBBED AND IS NO LONGER FUNCTIONING. I CAN BARELY SEE MY BACK UP CAM. I CAN NO LONGER UTILIZE THE VEHICLE HANDS FREE BECAUSE I CANNOT SET UP BLUETOOTH. APPARENTLY THIS IS A WIDE KNOWN ISSUE WITH GM AND WILL NOT BE COVERED TO FIX. WHICH IS ABOUT $2K OUT OF POCKET. THIS CAR IS PARKED IN A GARAGE 100% OF THE TIME AND IS BARELY DROVE 2 MILES PER DAY. IT ONLY HAS 72000K MILES.
WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY CAR STARTED TO MOVE LIKE IT WAS GOING TO QUIT ON ME, I GET MY CAR SERVICED FREQUENTLY AND HAVE REPLACED THE SPARKPLUGS AND COIL, CHANGED ALL THE GASKETS, AND I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE STABILITITRACK LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR DID NOT WANT TO WORK AS IT SHOULD. BUSHING FOR THE SHIFTER LINKAGE ATTACHED TO THE TRANSMISSION FAILED RENDERING THE CAR NOT TO BE ABLE TO CHANGE GEARS
CAR WON'T DRIVE PAST 40MPH WITHOUT SERIOUS SHAKING AND VIBRATIONS. HAVE HAD THE CAR TOWED MULTIPLE TIMES AND HAD MULTIPLE THINGS FIXED WITH THE VEHICLE BUT STILL HAVE MAJOR CAN'T DRIVE THE CAR PAST 40MPH. LAST ESTIMATE DEALER SAID IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. 4-5K TO REPAIR. CADILLAC TOLD ME IT WAS THE COIL RODS WHICH THEY REPLACED. BROUGHT IT BACK AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS A PIPE THAT WAS CRACKED GOING TO THE ENGINE. STILL HAVE SAME PROBLEM. HAD THE TIRES AND ALIGNMENT CHECKED. THEY SAID IT WAS TRANSMISSION. BROUGHT TO ANOTHER PLACE THEY THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE THE ENGINE. ISSUE ARE ON THE HIGHWAY WITH SPEEDS OVER 40MPH.
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE ON JANUARY 8, 2020 TO SOUTHTOWNE GMC IN NEWNAN,GA . I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH WHAT APPEARED TO BE THE TRANSMISSION. I TOLD THE SERVICE PERSON MY CAR WAS TAKING A LITTLE TIME ONCE I PUT IT IN DRIVE MODE. THE SERVICE GENTLEMAN TOOK A HAN HELD DEVICE AND PLACED IT UNDER THE DASHBOARD OF THE VEHICLE AND TOLD ME IT WAS NOT DETECTING A PROBLEM. HE CHECKED THE DASHBOARD AND NOTICED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT ON. I TOLD HIM I WANTED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST DONE, HE SAID SINCE IT WAS NOT DETECTING A PROBLEM IT DOES NO GOOD TO DO A DIAGNOSTIC. HE NEVER INFORMED ME ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE. HE TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO, THAT HE WAS SWAMPED WITH REPAIRS AND THAT IF I WANTED HIM TO CHECK MY TRANSMISSION I WOULD HAVE TO COME BACK IN MARCH. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR AWAY. ONE WEEK LATER THE CAR BARELY MOVES. BARELY GOES INTO GEAR. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE CAR SINCE JANUARY 15, 2020. CAN I GET SOME HELP PLEASE.
THE FUEL LINE BROKE DUE TO THE HIGH SIDE FUEL PUMP SEIZING UP AND THE BREAK AWAY BOLT BREAKING CAUSING THE PUMP TO BE UNSTABLE. THUS THE VIBRATION CAUSING THE FUEL LINE TO BRAKE SPEWING GAS ALL OVER. THE FUEL LINE BREAKING THEN PROMPTS THE COMPUTER SOMETHING WITH FUEL IS MALFUNCTIONING AND SHUTS MOTOR TO HALF RUNNING POWER AN THROUGHS SOME MORE FUEL RELATED CODES. RENDERING YOUR VEHICLE INOPERABLE AND NEEDING A TOW TO A SHOP FOR REPAIRS. THE FUEL PUMP DESIGN HELPS SAVE YOUR MOTOR IN THIS EVENT FROM BEING DESTROYED, WHEN IT MALFUNCTIONS LIKE THIS. THE FUEL PUMP DESIGN SEEMS LIKE IT COULD BE HIGHLY DANGEROUS. WITH FUEL BE SPEWED OUT AT HIGH PRESSURE IS UNSAFE. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE FUEL LINE BREAKING BECAUSE OF THIS DESIGN IS A PRETTY COMMON PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THE 2018 CADILLAC HAS A RECALL ON THIS EXACT SAME THING THAT HAPPENED TO MY 2013 BUT THE 2013 HAS NO RECALL ON IT?? WHEN MY VEHICLE FUEL LINE BROKE I WAS DRIVING IN NORMAL CONDITIONS IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS. I'M SURE THERE WAS TURNING AND BRAKING IN THE MIDST OF THE FUEL LINE BREAKING. THE HVAC AND RADIO CONTROLS ARE ALL ON THIS TOUCHSCREEN, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL THESE FEATURES WHILE DRIVING. OTHER SETTINGS FOR THE VEHICLE ARE ALSO IN THE CUE SYSTEM, AND ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR ADJUSTING. NAVIGATION BECOMES UNUSABLE AS WELL.
TAKATA RECALL THERE HAS BEEN NO "INCIDENT" RE THE 2013 ATS. THE ISSUE ORIGINATED WITH RECALL NOTICES TO MY DEALER AND TO ME RE (1) STEERING (2) AIR BAGS (3) BRAKES. THE AIRBAG ISSUE INVOLVES CONTINUAL WARNING BY LIGHT AND BY SOUND RE THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG. DEALER SECRETARY STATES THAT SHE HAS NOTICES FOR ALL THREE (ABOVE) TO BE RECALLED. DEALER GARAGE, HOWEVER, STATES THAT THE ONLY RECALL WAS STEERING AND HAVE RECENTLY REPAIRED THE STEERING. I RECALL RECEIVING RECALL NOTICES AT MY HOME BUT NO LONGER HAVE THEM. AND SO, COMPLAINANT IS SEEKING TO LEARN WHETHER THE BRAKES AND THE AIR BAG WARNING NEED ADDRESSING.

I ROAD TESTED A 2015 MANUAL ATS AND IT DROVE SMOOTH WITH NO RATTLES. I WAS TOLD THE 2015 WOULD DRIVE THE SAME ONCE IT HIT 10K MILES LIKE MINE WHICH IS A RIDICULOUS STATEMENT. VEHICLE HAS ALSO SHUT OFF WHILE IN TRAFFIC, AND UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE I NO LONGER HAD AN POWER STEERING. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE FOR MYSELF OR MY CHILDREN. WHEN IT HAPPENS, THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE TURNED OFF THEN ON AGAIN, SO IT ISN'T A QUICK THING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. I WENT ONLINE AND THERE ARE MULTIPLE VIDEOS AND COMPLAINTS OF THE VERY ISSUE. GM KNOWS THIS IS HAPPENING AND THEY ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THIS IS JUST AS BAD AS THE IGNITION SWITCH ISSUE, AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT (I ALMOST DID A FEW TIMES). I HAVE A CASE OPEN WITH GM AND I WANT MY MONEY BACK FOR THIS CAR. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP AT LEAST 6 TIMES IN THE YEAR THAT I'VE HAD IT. *TR
THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON, STABILITRAK, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATE MY DASHBOARD. IT HAS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 6 TIMES. EACH TIME THE DEALER HAS FOUND BASICALLY NOTHING WRONG, JUST REPLACED A SPARK PLUG EACH TIME, CHANGED THE OIL, AND CLEARED THE CODES. THE CAR HAS STALLED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY SOMEONE BECAUSE A LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND MY CAR WAS STALLED. PRIOR TO IT STALLING IT VIOLENTLY SHAKES, WHICH IS JUST A LITTLE BIT MORE ROUGH THAN THE CONSTANT SHAKING IT ALWAYS DOES. ALSO RECENTLY IT HAS BEEN HAVING TROUBLE STARTING. EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE RELATED AND IS GETTING WORSE. THE DEALER EXTENDED MY WARRANTY TO ALMOST 90,000 MILES BUT I FEEL UNSAFE IN THIS CAR BECAUSE OF ALL THE PROBLEMS THAT IT HAS AND ALL THE NEW PROBLEMS THAT KEEP COMING UP. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CADILLAC ATS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A THREE TO FOUR SECOND LAG. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 325 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 8,100.
THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM ACTIVATED WHILE AT FREEWAY SPEED, HOWEVER THERE WERE NO CARS OR OBSTRUCTIONS AHEAD OF MY CAR. THE BRAKES WERE AUTOMATICALLY APPLIED, THE COLLISION WARNING APPEARED ON THE HUD, AND THE CAR RAPIDLY DECELERATED. HAD THERE BEEN A VEHICLE BEHIND ME, THERE WOULD CERTAINLY HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS COLLISION. I HAD JUST PASSED A SEMI-TRUCK AND THOUGHT MAYBE A REFLECTION FROM THE TRUCK MAY HAVE ACTIVATED THE SYSTEM, BUT I HAD COMPLETED THE PASSING MANEUVER BEFORE THE CAR BRAKING ACTIVATED. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER ON 4/4 BUT THEY REPORTED NO PROBLEMS WITH THE SYSTEM. THIS SEEMS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR
THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE SITTING IN NEUTRAL, WAITING AT A RED LIGHT. THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS RUNNING. THE ENGINE RUNS SO QUIETLY THAT FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TELL THE ENGINE HAD SHUT OFF IF THE A/C HAD NOT STOPPED BLOWING. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND AN ALERT CAME ON THE DASH SCREEN STATING: SERVICE POWER STEERING, DRIVE WITH CARE. I WAS APPROXIMATELY 3/4 OF A MILE FROM MY HOME COMING DOWNHILL ON A QUIET NEIGHBORHOOD STREET SO I CAREFULLY DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND PARKED IN THE GARAGE WHILE I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT MY LOCAL CADILLAC DEALERSHIP. HE TOLD ME THE POWER STEERING IS CONTROLLED BY THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MAY HAVE GLITCHED WHEN I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND NOT BEEN ACTIVATED. HE SAID I COULD RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER 30 SECONDS AND THE POWER STEERING SHOULD FUNCTION PROPERLY AGAIN. HE TOLD ME IF THERE IS AN ISSUE I CAN HAVE GM TOW THE VEHICLE IN, OR IF THE POWER STEERING BEGINS TO FUNCTION AGAIN I CAN DRIVE IT IN TO HAVE IT SERVICED. ON FEBRUARY 22ND AND 27TH 2014, WHILE TRAVELING AT 75MPH THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL SLAMMED THE BRAKES ON THEN RELEASED. I THOUGHT THE SYSTEM HAD MISS-READ THE SHADOW OF AN OVERPASS AS A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME BECAUSE THAT WAS THE ONLY THING IN SIGHT WHEN THE BRAKES LOCKED, THERE WERE NO VEHICLES PRESENT. ROADS WERE DRY. IT WAS REPORTED TO CADILLAC VIA THEIR 800 NUMBER AND THEN BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 MARCH 2014,FOR ANALYSIS. THE DEALER IMPLEMENTED AN UPDATE TO THE ACTIVE SAFETY CONTROL MODULE. CADILLAC STATED THEY WOULD SEND AN E-MAIL TO MY DEALER ABOUT THE PROBLEM, BUT DEALER STATED THEY NEVER RECEIVED THE E-MAIL. NO FURTHER PROBLEM NOTED UNTIL 1 APRIL 2014, FOUR WEEKS LATER, DURING A TRIP THE SAME ACTION HAPPENED TWICE WITHIN A MILE OF TRAVEL. BRAKES WERE ABRUPTLY APPLIED, RED SCREEN ON DASH WITH CRASH IMMANENT. AGAIN AT 70MPH AND NO BRIDGES OR OTHER VEHICLES IN PATH. THE ROAD CONDITION WAS WET. WHEN COASTING TO COME TO A STOP THE VEHICLE ENGINE WILL STALL. THE VEHICLE EITHER DOESN'T ATTEMPT TO IDLE AT ALL ONCE THE CLUTCH HAS BEEN DEPRESSED, OR IT SEEMS TO GET TO A LOWER RPM THAN NORMAL (<500RPM) AND THEN THE ENGINE JUST SHUTS OFF, VERY ABRUPTLY. *TR
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COMING TO A STOP OR SLOWING DOWN WITH THE CAR IN EITHER NEUTRAL OR THE CLUTCH PRESSED ALL THE WAY DOWN, THE VEHICLE WILL STALL. THE STALL IS NOT ABRUPT BUT VERY SUBTLE. THE CAR DOES NOT JERK FORWARD BUT JUST DIES WITHOUT THE DRIVER KNOWING. CANNOT TELL THAT THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED UNTIL I TRY TO RE-ENGAGE GEAR AND PRESS THE GAS. ALWAYS HAPPENS AT UNDER 5 MPH, RIGHT BEFORE THE CAR HAS COME TO A STOP OR IS ROLLING TO A STOP WITH THE CAR IN NEUTRAL OR CLUTCH PRESSED ALL THE WAY DOWN. *TR
DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED LOSING SPEED AND IT WOULD NOT LET ME ACCELERATE. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SHOULDER. ONCE I GOT TO THE SHOULDER THE CAR IDLED FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AGAIN AND DRIVE ABOUT ANOTHER MILE AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. WE WERE ABOUT 1 MILE FROM A GM CAR DEALERSHIP AND WE MANAGED TO GET THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT IT STALLED 3 TIMES ON THE WAY (ONCE ON A 2 LANE BRIDGE). THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULDN'T WORK ON CADILLACS, SO WE HAD IT TOWED TO A CADILLAC DEALERSHIP (THE CAR DIED AGAIN WHILE THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER WAS TRYING TO LOAD IT). THEY HAVE DRIVEN IT OVER 200 MILES AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY DID A COMPUTER UPDATE AND ARE RETURNING THE CAR TO ME AND SAID THAT THEY ARE NOT CONFIDENT THE UPDATE WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. IT DID NOT THROW ANY WARNING LIGHTS AND THE DEALER SAID THEY DIDN'T SEE ANY CODES. WE WERE DOING 70 DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND IF THERE HADN'T BEEN A PLACE TO PULL OVER, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED BY AN 18 WHEELER. THIS IS NOT A MANUAL TRANSMISSION (I'VE SEEN REPORTS OF MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS STALLING). THIS IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. *TR
CRUISING DOWN A HILL PROBABLY IN NEUTRAL, CAR STALLED SILENTLY WITH NO BUCKING OR NOISE, JUST DIED. NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO START THE CAR WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. AFTER EASILY 15 ATTEMPTS AND APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES THE CAR STARTED BUT WAS WITH FAMILY, AT NIGHT ON DARK TWISTY AND HILLY ROAD AND DID NOT FEEL CONFIDENT TO DRIVE IT. HAD IT TOWED ULTIMATELY FOR CADILLAC SERVICE. IN SHOP FOR MORE THAN A WEEK, TECH COULD NOT FIND OR DUPLICATE PROBLEM. HAPPENED AGAIN A WEEK OR SO LATER, IN NEUTRAL COMING TO A RED LIGHT, COMPLETE SILENT STALL, AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND SEVERAL ATTEMPTS THE CAR STARTED AND I DROVE BACK TO CADILLAC SERVICE. AGAIN NO PROBLEM FOUND AFTER IN SHOP A FEW DAYS. ON MY WAY HOME IT HAPPENED AGAIN AT A RED LIGHT BUT STARTED ON FIRST. I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING CAR, ESPECIALLY WITH FAMILY IN IT WHICH I HAVEN'T DONE RECENTLY. FIRST STALL PARTICULARLY WAS IN A DANGEROUS PLACE AND POLICE WOULD NOT LET CAR STAY ON ROAD AND WE PUSHED IT OFF THE MAJOR ROAD. UNEXPECTEDNESS AND PERHAPS INABILITY TO RESTART QUICKLY ARE FRIGHTENING AND A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
I HAVE TWO ISSUES TO REPORT THAT MAY BE A SAFETY CONCERN: 1) THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN DRIVING IN WET CONDITIONS (RAIN/SNOW) WHERE I WILL GET A 'POWER STEERING FAILURE' WARNING. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE POWER STEERING DOES ONE OF TWO THINGS. IT EITHER ALMOST LOCKS UP AND BECOMES EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL, OR IT WILL STILL MOVE EASILY, BUT IT WON'T AUTO CENTER WHEN MAKING TURNS. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A BAD STEERING ANGLE SENSOR. THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR BUT THE ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED AND NOW THAT IT'S SNOWING IT'S HAPPENING MORE AND MORE CONSISTENTLY. 2) THERE HAVE BEEN 3 CASES WHERE I WAS DRIVING AND COMING TO A STOP AND THE CAR WILL JUST RANDOMLY SHUT DOWN. I LOSE ALL ABILITY TO STEER (SINCE IT'S ELECTRIC STEERING) AND BRAKE. THIS STALL IS DIFFERENT THEN A STALL ASSOCIATED MISUSE OF THE CLUTCH. THE CLUTCH HAS BEEN PRESSED IN ALL THE WAY IN WHEN THIS HAPPENS AND THE CAR DOESN'T SHUTTER LIKE A CLUTCH STALL, JUST TOTALLY SHUTS DOWN QUIETLY. LUCKILY THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN ACCIDENT YET, BUT IF THIS HAPPENS WHEN THERE ARE MULTIPLE CARS AROUND ME IT WILL BE DIFFICULTY TO AVOID ONE. *TR
SINCE BUYING THIS CADILLAC ATS 2013, 2.0T RWD MANUAL, VEHICLE NEW, THE ENGINE HAS STALLED SEVERAL TIMES. THE STALLING OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IDLING IN NEUTRAL (AT STOPLIGHTS, IN TRAFFIC). THE STALLING HAPPENS IN BOTH WARM AND COLD CONDITIONS. THE STALLING IS NOT LIKE NORMAL MANUAL TRANSMISSION STALLING WHERE THE VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD. THE STALLING IS SILENT. YOU DO NOT NOTICE THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED UNTIL YOU PUT THE CAR INTO GEAR AND ATTEMPT TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO A CADILLAC DEALERSHIP TO INSPECT THE ISSUE (LINDSAY CADILLAC OF ALEXANDRIA). THE TECHNICIANS WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE AND THERE WAS NO RESOLUTION. WHILE DECELERATING TO MAKE VARIOUS TURNS OR STOP AT AN INTERSECTION THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WITH NO WARNING. ALSO THE STEERING AND BRAKES BECOME HARD. ON ONE OCCASION WHILE MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY IT OCCURRED AGAIN, ALMOST CAUSING ME TO CRASH INTO A VEHICLE THEN LOSE CONTROL. *TR
THE 6-SPEED MANUAL ATS HAS AN ISSUE WITH STALLING, USUALLY WHEN COASTING TO A STOP, AND LESS FREQUENTLY ON INITIAL ACCELERATION. IT IS NOT DUE TO POOR RELEASE PRACTICE WITH THE CLUTCH. THE CAR WILL DIE UNEXPECTEDLY WHEN COASTING, WHICH KILLS THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING, WHICH MAKES FOR AN UNSAFE SITUATION. THIS HAPPENS INFREQUENTLY, AND I DON'T REALLY KNOW WHAT COMBINATION OF THINGS LEADS TO THE STALL. I HAVE CHANGED THE WAY I DRIVE THE CAR IN ORDER TO MINIMIZE COASTING OR USING THE TRANSMISSION FOR DECELERATION. THIS HELPS, BUT THERE ARE STILL TIMES WHEN I GET SURPRISED AT AN INTERSECTION BY THE CAR BEING DEAD WHEN I'M READY TO ACCELERATE. IT IS A VERY QUIET CAR, ESPECIALLY AT IDLE, SO IF I'M WATCHING TRAFFIC AND NOT THE DASH, IT CAN DIE AND I DON'T KNOW IT UNTIL I HIT THE GAS AGAIN. *TR

I DRIVE A STICK SHIFT, AND WILL MOVE THE SHIFTER INTO NEUTRAL AS I AM COMING TO A STOP, AND ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CAR HAS JUST STALLED OUT AND I LOSE ALL POWER STEERING AND ELECTRONIC BRAKE ASSISTANCE, WHICH MAKES STOPPING THE CAR MORE DIFFICULT. THIS ISSUE HAS ALSO OCCURRED A FEW TIMES WHEN ACTIVELY DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS. I WILL GET A MESSAGE ON MY DIC SAYING THAT MY POWER STEERING NEEDS TO BE SERVICED, AND SHORTLY AFTER THE CAR STALLS. *TR
I WAS PULLING IN TO A PARKING SPOT BEHIND A CAR AT A VERY LOW SPEED WHEN I PRESSED THE BRAKES FOR THE CAR TO STOP, INSTEAD IT ACCELERATED AND SMASHED IN TO A CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I TRIED PRESSING THE BRAKES HARDER IN ORDER TO AVOID THE IMPACT AND THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND. *TR
THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDAL ARE SO CLOSE TOGETHER THAT WHEN BRAKING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC IT IS POSSIBLE TO DEPRESS THE GAS PEDAL WHILE BRAKING RESULTING IN AN ENGINE SURGE CONDITION. THIS ONLY HAPPENS IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC OR WHEN STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. *TR
VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS WITH THE HID OPTION DO NOT ALWAYS ALIGN PROPERLY CAUSING ONE SIDE, EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT ON OCCASION TO AIM HIGHER THAN THE OTHER. THIS ISSUE SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING WHEN THE VEHICLE HEADLIGHT SELECTION IS IN THE AUTO MODE AND THE KEY FOB OR IGNITION BUTTON IS USED. THIS HAS BECOME A NUISANCE BECAUSE I MUST CONSTANTLY PARK BY A WALL TO MAKE SURE THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE ALIGNED PROPERLY BEFORE DRIVING OFF AND BLINDING ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE CALIBRATION CYCLE SEEMS TO BE FAULTY AND I HAVE BEEN TO TWO DEALERS WITH NO RESOLVE. I AM ALSO WORKING WITH CADILLAC CUSTOMER SERVICE AND AM HOPING FOR A QUICK SOLUTION. THIS ISSUE MAY BLIND ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND I MUST STOP AND RESTART THE CAR NUMEROUS TIMES TO GET THE HEADLIGHT CYCLE TO ALIGN THE LIGHTS. *TR
WHEN COASTING TO COME TO A STOP THE VEHICLE ENGINE WILL STALL. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT IN JANUARY. THIS IS A 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION EQUIPPED VEHICLE, AND THE TRANSMISSION IS EITHER IN NEUTRAL OR THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS DEPRESSED SO THAT THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION ARE DECOUPLED. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO WATCH THE TACHOMETER WHEN IT HAS STALLED TWICE, AND IT SEEMS TO GET TO A LOWER RPM THAN NORMAL (<500RPM) AND THEN THE ENGINE JUST SHUTS OFF, VERY ABRUPTLY. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN SLOWING TO TAKE A TURN WITH THE CLUTCH PEDAL DEPRESSED, WHICH IS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET BACK STARTED AS YOU ARE TRYING TO DRIVE AND NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER, AND THEY HAVE TRIED TO DIAGNOSE IT, HOWEVER NO FIX HAS HAPPENED. IT WILL NORMALLY STALL ABOUT ONCE EVERY WEEK OR SO, IT IS VERY INTERMITTENT AND SEEMS MORE OFTEN WITH A HIGHER LOAD ON THE ENGINE (HOT DAYS, A/C RUNNING, ETC...). THE DEALER WENT AS FAR AS TO BLAME ME FOR STALLING THE VEHICLE, THEY SAID I DIDN'T DISENGAGE THE CLUTCH AT A HIGH ENOUGH RPM WHICH IS COMPLETELY UNTRUE AND REGARDLESS THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL AND I WAS COASTING TO A STOP (THEREFORE IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO STALL THE VEHICLE IN GEAR). I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE, THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS PEOPLE ON FORUMS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME ISSUE. *TR

I HAVE A 2013 ATS 6 SPEED . A COUPLE WEEKS AFTER I GOT IT WILL STALL WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A COMPLETE STOP. IT STOPPED FOR ABOUT A MONTH THEN IT CONTINUED AGAIN. WHILE DRIVING MY MANUAL TRANSMISSION CAD ATS IT STALLS WITHOUT WARNING OR REASON. IT STALLS MOSTLY WHEN IN NEUTRAL, LIKE WHEN SITTING AT A RED LIGHT, OR PULLING INTO A PARKING PLACE. IT ALSO STALLS WHEN IN FIRST OR SECOND GEAR,LIKE WHEN TURNING A CORNER. I AM NOT PULLING THE CLUTCH OUT TOO SOON AND HENCE STALLING THE CAR MYSELF, IT DOES IT ALL BY ITSELF! THE CAR GIVES NO WARNING SHAKE OR NOISE, IT SIMPLY IS OFF, OFTEN WITHOUT MY KNOWING IT IS OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY BRAND NEW ATS SINCE THE SECOND DAY OF HAVING IT, AND HAS EVER SINCE, APPROXIMATELY 7 WEEKS NOW. IT OCCURS WITH THE GAS TANK FULL, ALMOST EMPTY, AND IN BETWEEN. IT OCCURS ON FLAT STREETS, AND MAYBE AT AN INCLINE. IT OCCURS WHEN COLD IN THE MORNING, AND AFTER HOURS OF DRIVING. IT OCCURS DAY AND NIGHT, WITH AND WITHOUT PASSENGERS. VEHICLE QUIETLY STALLS AND HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE LESS THAN A MONTH AGO. VEHICLE TURNS OFF WHEN IN NEUTRAL APPROACHING TO STOP. THIS IS NOT FROM IMPROPER FOOT WORK ON THE CLUTCH. THE VEHICLE IS IN NEUTRAL. IT HAS HAPPENED OVER 13 TIMES SINCE VEHICLE PURCHASED ON 7/26/2013 (FIRST INCIDENT ON DATE OF PURCHASE). THE VEHICLE WILL TURN ON IMMEDIATELY AFTER. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES AND TWICE THEY KEPT IT FOR A WEEK. THE PROBLEM DID NOT DUPLICATE WITH THE DEALERSHIP. ON THE THIRD VISIT THEY REPLACED THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. FIVE DAYS AFTER PICKING IT UP AFTER THEY REPLACED THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT HAS HAPPENED AT BUSY INTERSECTIONS AND IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN. *TR

VEHICLE STALLED QUIETLY WHEN COMING TO STOP WITH VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND/OR CLUTCH DEPRESSED. I SAY QUIETLY BECAUSE I DID NOT HEAR OR FEEL IT SHUT OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED 6 - 10 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS. MOST RECENTLY THE POWER STEERING RACK FAILED TO TURN BACK ON AT RESTART. DEALER SERVICED STEERING CONTROLLER PER TSB. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE RANDOM STALLING IN A 10 MILE TEST DRIVE AS IT ONLY HAPPENS TO ME ONLY ONCE A WEEK OR TWO. THIS COULD BE MORE DANGEROUS IF IT DID NOT RESTART AND I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION OR MOVING.

IS THERE SOMEONE THAT CAN GET THE CEO OF CADILLACS ATTENTION THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO PAID OVER 35K. WHEN I HAVE BRAND NEW KIA THAT HAS A 4 CYCL ENGINE WITH NO ISSUES. COME ON GM. ROUGH IDLE WHEN IN DRIVE AND STOPPED AT LIGHT (ALWAYS), I DID BRING IT IN FOR SERVICE FOR THE ROUGH IDLE AND DEALERSHIP STATED NOTHING SHOWED UP ON COMPUTER SO THEY WERE UNABLE TO CORRECT PROBLEM. *TR
WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT EXPERIENCED LOSS OF POWER STEERING. MESSAGE IN THE DIC INDICATED "SERVICE POWER STEERING, DRIVE WITH CARE". UPON RESTART OF ENGINE THE POWER STEERING BEGAN TO WORK AGAIN. DEALER SAW C0545 STEERING WHEEL TORQUE SENSOR FAULT, DEALER NOTES INDICATE THAT THE CONNECTOR WAS CHECKED AND WAS OK. ALSO CHECKED EBCM SOFTWARE, WHICH WAS UP TO DATE. NOTHING FURTHER WAS DONE, NO PARTS UPDATED OR REPLACED. I RECEIVED THE SAME DIC MESSAGE ~4 TIMES IN THE PAST 3 WEEKS WITHOUT THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING PRIOR TO THIS EVENT WHICH PROMPTED A VISIT TO THE DEALER. *TR
WHEN TAKING A CORNER THE CAR APPEARED TO OVER STEER. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS ME SO I WENT TO TURN THE WHEEL TO CORRECT IT AND IT FELT SLUGGISH FOR LACK OF A BETTER WORD. ALMOST INSTANTLY AFTER THAT A WARNING CAME UP ON THE DASH THAT INDICATED SOMETHING LIKE "SERVICE POWER STEERING, PLEASE DRIVE SAFELY". THE WARNING OCCURRED TWO MORE TIMES IN A MATTER OF A COUPLE MILES BUT I DID NOT REALLY NOTICE ANY STEERING ISSUES THOSE TIMES. *TR

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013 Cadillac ATS and model year 2013 Cadillac XTS; model year 2014 Chevrolet Impala; and 2013 Chevrolet Sonic vehicles. Originally, in May 2013, GM recalled 1,627 model year 2013 Cadillac ATS and model year 2013 Cadillac XTS; and model year 2014 Chevrolet Impala vehicles. In October 2013, GM informed the agency that it was adding model year 2013 Chevrolet Sonic vehicles to this campaign , representing an additional 8,050 units. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 9,677. On the affected vehicles, the brake lamps may intermittently flash without the brakes being applied and the cruise control may disengage. Thus, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, "Lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Cadillac ATS vehicles manufactured April 23, 2012, to March 20, 2014, and 2014 Cadillac CTS vehicles manufactured June 10, 2013, to March 20, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the transmission shift cable may detach from either the bracket on the transmission shifter or the bracket on the transmission.

Due to an incomplete weld on the seat hook bracket assembly, the front seats in the affected vehicles may not stay secured in place during a high load condition such as a crash.

The affected vehicles may experience the roof panel closing automatically when the non-recessed switches are pressed and the roof panel is open. These vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 118, "Power-Operated Window, Partition, and Roof Panel Systems."
