TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA CROSSTOUR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, AN ABNORMAL SOUND WAS COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START-UP. THE CONTACT STATED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED DAILY. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 76,930.
DRIVING ON I85N AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE EPS (ELEC. POWER STEERING) LIGHT CAME ON AND STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT WITHOUT ANY PREVIOUS WARNING. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND VEER OFF THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT ANY INCIDENT THANKFULLY DUE TO MINIMAL TURNING REQUIRED. A WEEK LATER, THE ISSUE REOCCURRED AFTER A FEW DAYS OF BEING PARKED. AT LEAST THIS TIME I WAS NOT ON A HIGHWAY... WHY DID THE NHTSA INVESTIGATION ONLY RESULT IN THE EPS ISSUE BEING COVERED FOR THE ACCORD (2 DIFFERENT TSBS) OF THE SAME YEAR BUT NOT FOR THE CROSSTOUR IF THE CROSSTOUR IS BASED ON THE ACCORD?
WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AT ABOUT 25MPH ON HARTFORD (CT) CITY STREET AFTER SEVERAL MILES OUT OF I-91, MY STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY WENT STIFF AND THEN AN ICON WITH THE STEERING WHEEL AND AND EXCLAMATION MARK APPEARED. I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL, I HAD TO USE ALL MY STRENGTH TO SLOWLY ROLL OFF THE STREET TO GO STRAIGHT INTO CURBSIDE AND WAITED FOR AAA TOW TRUCK TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE AND DELIVER IT TO MY HOME FOR REPAIRING AND I WAS REQUIRED TO FIND OUT A WAY TO TRANSPORT MY FAMILY SEPARATELY TO HOME DUE TO LOCAL COVID-19 RULE. I NEED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE BECAUSE OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. GLAD TO BE ALIVE AND DRIVING AT LOW SPEED. THIS HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING. I RESTARTED MY CAR SEVERAL TIMES, THE EPS LIGHT COULD NOT GONE.
AT 92,886 MILES, CRANKED MY PARKED CAR UP TO BACK OUT OF THE GARAGE AND NOTICED THE EPS WARNING LIGHT WAS ON AND REMAINED ON. AS I ATTEMPTED TO BACK OUT, I WAS COMPLETELY UNABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. I'VE HAD OLDER CARS WHERE YOU COULD AT LEAST MUSCLE THE STEERING WHEN LOW ON POWER STEERING FLUID... NOT SO IN THIS CASE. VERY THANKFUL I WAS NOT ALREADY ON THE HIGHWAY AS THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING OF ANY PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER MISSED A SERVICE, HAS HIGH QUALITY SYNTHETIC BLEND OIL, GARAGE KEPT AND ALWAYS HAD THE RECOMMENDED SERVICE. THE CAR IS A BEAUTIFUL COMPLETELY UNUSABLE VEHICLE RIGHT NOW. I CALLED A LOCAL AUTO SERVICE CENTER AND THEY SAID ONLY HONDA CAN ADDRESS THIS SITUATION AND THE REPAIR STARTS AT $3000. I READ MANY COMPLAINTS FROM HONDA OWNERS OF 2013 CROSSTOURS/ACCORDS AND UNDERSTAND THERE ARE MANY HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF OWNERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE OUT OF THE BLUE, SOME OF WHOM EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING AT 60MPH ON I95 MY STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY WENT STIFF AND THEN AN ICON WITH THE STEERING WHEEL AND AND EXCLAMATION MARK APPEARED. I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL, I HAD TO USE ALL MY STRENGTH TO SLOWLY ROLL OFF THE HIGHWAY TO GO STRAIGHT INTO A PARKING LOT OF A GROCERY STORE AND WAITED FOR A TOW TRUCK TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE. CURRENTLY WAITING FOR AN APPOINTMENT WITH A DEALERSHIP BECAUSE OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. GLAD TO BE ALIVE, THIS HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING.
AFTER TAKING MY VEHICLE TO HOLMAN HONDA SUNRISE FOR AIRBAG SAFETY RECALL A VIBRATION STARTED HAPPENING. TOOK BACK IN TO THE DEALERSHIP WAS TOLD AIR RECALL FIXING WOULDN'T CAUSED IT THEN THEY DID AN INSPECTION PROVIDED THREE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR REPAIR FRONT PASSENGER AXLE, BRAKES AND ROTATOR, AND ALL NEW FOUR WHEELS. COMPLETED ALL RECOMMENDATIONS GIVEN BY THE DEALERSHIP VIBRATIONS STILL NOT FIXED. HAD A SECOND INSPECTION ON THE VEHICLE BY PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO SEEN THAT THE AXLE PART IS BAD. WENT BACK TO HOLMAN HONDA SUNRISE MADE THEM AWARE AND ASKED THEM TO INSPECT THEIR AXLE PART TO SEE IF IT WAS FAILING; THEY REFUSED TO CHECK THE AXLE PART AND JUST WANTED TO ISSUE A REFUND TO NOT DEAL WITH THE SAFETY OF MY SON AND ME. CONTACTED HONDA MANUFACTURER ABOUT THIS SAFETY CONCERN ON A MANUFACTURER DEFECTED PART THEY REFUSED ASSISTANCE AND RECOMMENDED TO CONTINUE WORKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP WHO REFUSED TO TAKE LIABILITY ON A PARTY THEY SOLD TO ME. ALSO HONDA MANUFACTURER REFERRED ME TO GO DEAL WITH ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND PAY MORE MONEY OUT OF POCKET AFTER ALREADY WORKING WITH A DEALERSHIP ASSOCIATED WITH THEM THAT HAS BEEN NEGLIGENT ABOUT MY SAFETY. DUE TO AXLE VIBRATION HAS CAUSED THE AXLE SEALS TO LINK. THIS HAS BEEN A FRUSTRATION AS THE DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURE HAS NOT SHOWED ANY SAFETY CONCERNS ON A VEHICLE THAT COULD CAUSE INJURIES. THIS HAS BEEN A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE TO SEE HOW THE DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURE TREAT PEOPLE FAMILIES AND LIFE OF OTHER BECAUSE OF THEIR BAD MALPRACTICE AND REFUSES TO ASSIST CONSUMERS FURTHER THEY AVOID THE LIABILITY AND PUSH IT ON THE CONSUMER AFTER THEIR SERVICE. HONDA ONCE WERE TRUSTED VEHICLES NOW I PUT NO TRUST IN THEM AS THEY HAVE LITTLE CONCERNS OR NO REMORSE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF CONSUMERS DRIVING THEY VEHICLE. ITS LIKE MONEY OVER SAFETY. ITS SAD WHEN A CONSUMER HAS PAID OUT OF POCKET SPENT SO MUCH TIME TRUSTING HONDA STILL NO FIX.
2013 HONDA CROSSTOUR ATTEMPING TO START THE VEHICLE, A GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE STARTER. ERROR ON DASH INDICATED STARTER SYSTEM FAILURE. ATTEMPING AGAIN, VEHICLE STARTED NORMALLYE. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES.THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. COST 599.54 + 50.00 DIAGNOISTIC CHARGE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED WITH MANUFACTURER PARTS 12/11/2018 107277 MILEAGE. 9 MONTHS LAST SEPTEMBER 2019, STARTER BEGAIN SAME FAILURE. 118100 MILEAGE. DEALER TO REPLACE STARTER AGAIN.
UPON DRIVING HOME I TURNED A CORNER AND IMMEDIATELY MY STEERING WENT OUT AND I COULD NOT STEER THE CAR AT ALL. THE CAR HAS ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING AND THE SYSTEM WENT OUT. IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY IT COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY BAD SITUATION. I HAD I TOWED TO HONDA WHICH SAID THIS IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND WILL COST $3000. THE WORST PART IS THEY CAN'T SEEN TO FIX IT, THEY PUT IN A NEW SYSTEM BUT CAN'T SEEM TO GET THE COMPUTER TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THE ACCORD/CROSSTOURS WITH THIS ISSUE FROM 2013-2015 WITH THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING GOING OUT. HONDA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. TWO WEEKS LATER I STILL HAVE NO CAR. THIS WAS A PRE-OWNED CERTIFIED CAR AND I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND IT ONLY HAS 72,000 MILES.
PURCHASED IN 2016. IN 2018 WITH ABOUT 80K ON THE ODOMETER I BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE INTERMITTENT EPS FAILURE. THE FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND FELT THE STEERING GET HEAVIER. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. CHECKED FOR DAMAGE UNDER THE HOOD AND SAW NOTHING. RESTARTING THE CAR, THE ISSUE WENT AWAY. IT OCCURRED THE NEXT DAY AND WAS INTERMITTENT FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS, BUT NOW SEEMS TO BE IN FAILURE 100% OF THE TIME. WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURS THE EPS WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND THE STEERING BECOMES VERY HEAVY, AS IF THERE IS ZERO POWER ASSISTANCE FROM THE EPS SYSTEM. THE STEERING IS STILL FUNCTIONAL, SO THE ISSUE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE MECHANICAL WITH A 100% STEERING FAILURE, IT'S ONLY THE POWERED STEERING ASSISTANCE THAT IS FAILING. CAR IS STILL OPERABLE BUT VERY CUMBERSOME WHILE PARKING, HOWEVER MY WIFE CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR SAFELY BECAUSE THE STEERING IS TOO HEAVY FOR HER. THIS FAILURE HAS BEEN REPORTED IN THE 2013 ACCORD AS PE14033. THE ACCORD IS THE SISTER CAR TO THE CROSSTOUR (A PREVIOUS MODEL OF CROSSTOUR WAS CALLED THE ACCORD CROSSTOUR), SO IT SEEMS LIKELY THEY SHARE THE SAME CAUSE AND IN MY OPINION THE CROSSTOUR SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE SAME TSB 15-055 ISSUED BY HONDA FOR 2013/2014 ACCORDS.
NO NOTABLE PREVIOUS PROBLEMS. LEAVING A RESTAURANT LATE IN THE EVENING, GOT INTO MY CAR STARTED AND IMMEDIATELY THE STEERING (EPS) INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ON AND THERE WAS NO POWER IN THE STEERING AND THE BRAKES WERE HARD. I SHUT OFF ENGINE AND TRIED TO RESTART TWO TIMES TO SEE IF SYSTEM WOULD RESET. NO LUCK. NEXT DAY. WENT BACK TO PARKING LOT, STARTED CAR AND HOPING POSSIBLE RESET-NO LUCK. I WAS PARKED- WHEN THIS OCCURRED THANKFULLY. I HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED TO HONDA. I AM NOW LOOKING AT MORE THAN $ 3000 REPAIR BILL AND $700 RENTAL DUE TO TWO WEEKS OF DIAGNOSING AND WORK TO REPAIR. I AM NUMBER 10 IN THE 2013 CROSSTOUR STEERING COMPLAINTS THAT ARE ALL SIMILAR. AND HAVE BEEN REPORTED. ARE THERE MORE UNREPORTED OCCURRENCES? THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM THAT NO ONE HAS BEEN INJURED. WHAT HAS TO HAPPEN BEFORE A RECALL IS ADMINISTERED?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 HONDA CROSSTOUR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUN ROOF EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE GLASS SHATTERED. THE SLIDER WAS CLOSED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED AND PREVENTED GLASS FROM ENTERING THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE DEALER (KENDALL HONDA OF FAIRBANKS, 1000 CADILLAC CT, FAIRBANKS, AK 99701, (855) 981-5607) RECOMMENDED THAT THE VEHICLE BE SERVICED AT FRONTIER GLASS (3401 PEGER RD B, FAIRBANKS, AK 99709, (907) 451-4527). FRONTIER GLASS REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT NO LONGER OWNED THE VEHICLE AS IT WAS TRADED IN FOR A 2017 HONDA RIDGELINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. I WAS DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED AND WAS LUCKY TO BE IN AN AREA THAT WASN'T HEAVY WITH TRAFFIC AT THE TIME AND I HAD MY NIECE AND 3 CHILDREN IN THE CAR. IT WAS VERY SCARY AND NERVE WRECKING. I HAD TO CALL A RIDE FOR MY FAMILY MEMBERS WHILE I WAITED FOR THE TOW TRUCK. THIS ISSUE IS VERY DANGEROUS. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP I HAD TO PAY $1650 FOR THEM TO TELL ME THAT IT'S ONLY UNDER WARRANTY FOR ONE YEAR OR 12K MILES. DOES THIS MEAN THAT IN A YEAR I MIGHT HAVE THE HEAD ACHE OF HAVING TO COME OUT OF POCKET FOR THIS AGAIN OR EVEN WORSE GET HIT OR KILLED BECAUSE HONDA HAS FAULTY EQUIPMENT THAT THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE?
THE CAR WAS STATIONARY IN A PARKING SPACE. I STARTED THE CAR AND ATTEMPTED TO REVERSE, HOWEVER THE STEERING WHEEL WAS COMPLETELY LOCKED AND THE CAR WAS IMMOBILE. IT WOULD NOT TURN AT ALL, THE STEERING WHEEL INDICATOR TURNED ON, AND I WAS STUCK IN THE PARKING SPACE. AFTER 30MINS THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME MOBILE, HOWEVER I HAD IT TOWED TO A HONDA DEALER. THE DEALER REPORTS THAT THE COMPUTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, WHICH YIELDS A COST OF $799. THIS REPAIR IS CONSIDERED NON-POWER TRAIN. ONCE THE COMPUTER IS REPLACED ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC TEST WILL BE RUN TO SEE IF THE PINS NEED TO BE REPLACED. REPLACEMENT OF THE PINS WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $1,800.
REAR BRAKE CALIPERS REQUIRED REPLACEMENT AT 31000 MILES, WHICH I BELIEVE TO BE A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM, AND WHICH REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF REAR BRAKE PADS AS A RESULT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA CROSSTOUR. WHILE HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (J.L. FREED HONDA 685 BETHLEHEM PIKE, MONTGOMERYVILLE, PA 18936), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 76,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE FIRST TIME MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WAS AT A SHOPPING PARKING LOT. LUCKILY MY HUSBAND WAS WITH ME TO JERK IT AROUND AND GET IT TO WORK AGAIN. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED WAS 2 DAYS LATER. THIS TIME I WAS WITH MY 3 YEAR OLD TODDLER RUNNING ERRANDS. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE IT PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN IT HAPPENED. I CAME OUT TO GO PICK UP MY HUSBAND FROM WORK AND IT WOULDN'T MOVE. I CALLED HONDA THE NEXT DAY THEY COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT WASN'T MOVING EITHER. I TOWED IT TO THEIR SERVICE CENTER AND RECEIVE A CALL THAT IT WILL COST ME 1200 DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE EPS UNIT. WHY IT HAPPENED? THEY DON'T KNOW... A 3 YEAR OLD CAR THAT I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON JUST DECIDED TO FRY ITS EPS UNIT!!! HOW FRUSTRATING! I AM GRATEFUL THAT I WASN'T ON THE HIGHWAY OR ON THE ROAD AND IT FOR IT TO STOP. WHERE IN OTHER CASES I'VE READ ONLINE THAT IT HAD HAPPENED TO PARENTS!
STARTING EARLIER THIS YEAR MY WIFE PUSHED THE START BUTTON AND IT MADE NOISE BUT DIDN'T START. I TOLD HER TO TRY AGAIN AND IT STARTED. THE STARTER IS TURNING BUT IS NOT MAKING FULL CONTACT WITH THE FLYWHEEL. THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. SOMETIMES WE GO A COUPLE OF DAYS WITH NO PBOLEMS AND SOMETIMES IT OCCURS 4-5 TIMES IN ONE DAY. 3 FOR 3 WITH THE SAME VEHICLE AND SAME PROBLEM IN THE TOWN I LIVE. IF YOU SEARCH THE INTERNET YOU WILL FIND A LOT MORE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. HONDA KNOWS ABOUT IT BUT REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT EXCEPT CHANGE THE STARTER AND CHARGE BIG PRICES FOR IT. IT SOUNDS LIKE A BAD STARTER DESIGN. PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THEIR STARTERS REPLACED ARE STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. SUMMER IS COMING AND WITH IT BRINGS HIGH HEAT. STRANDED MOTORIST IN HIGH HEAT PRESENT BIG PROBLEMS FOR SOME. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE SOLVED SOON.
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM 0 MPH TO 45 MPA THE CAR SHUDDERS. DURING A COUPLE OF THESE EVENTS THE SHUDDERING WAS VIOLENT, AND WHEN I SLOWED TO INVESTIGATE I COULD HEAR SQUEAKING COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WHEN I PARKED THE VEHICLE THERE WAS FAINT SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND A BURNING SMELL LIKE A BURNT CLUTCH. AFTER THE VEHICLE SITS FOR A FEW HOURS THE PROBLEM RESOLVES AND DOESN'T DUPLICATE FOR THAT PARTICULAR OCCURRENCE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER ONE TIME AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ROOT CASE OR DUPLICATE PROBLEM. ALSO WHEN DRIVING CONSTANT SPEED IN THE RANGE OF 10 MPH TO 45 MPH THE VEHICLE ALSO SHUDDERS, AND SEEMS TO CHANGE GEARS SO EXCESSIVELY THAT THE CAR DECELERATES AND ACCELERATES +/- 5 MPH UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CAR HAD 43K MILES ON IT WHEN THIS STARTED. IT CURRENTLY HAS 49K MILES.
I WAS DRIVING AND STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT WHEN THE GREEN LIGHT CAME ON I WAS UNABLE TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AS THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ON ME AND I HAD TO BE PUSHED TO THE SIDE BY A FEW CONSTRUCTION GUYS. I I COULD DRIVE IT BUT MAKE NO TURNS. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO PLANET HONDA IN UNION NJ, WHO STATED IT WOULD COST ME $4,000 DOLLARS TO FIX THE CAR IS NOT 36 MONTHS OLD AND THEY ARE SAYING IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. CAN YOU ASSIST?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA CROSSTOUR. AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, A GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE RESTARTED EVERY TIME FOR THE NOISE TO STOP. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING UNIT GOING IN AND OUT WHILE DRIVING.
I WAS DRIVING ON A STREET GOING 35 MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL. I LOOKED AT THE DASH AND THE LIGHT WITH THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE EXCLAMATION MARK WAS ON. I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE AT A SLOWER SPEED BECAUSE I WAS RIGHT UP THE ROAD FROM MY HOUSE. LUCKILY I HAD NO TURNS TO MAKE. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND LUCKILY I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY OR TRAVELING AT A HIGHER SPEED BECAUSE THIS WOULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I WENT HOME AND PARKED MY VEHICLE, THE NEXT MORNING I STARTED THE CAR TO GET THE MILEAGE AND NOTICED THAT THE CAUTION LIGHT WAS OFF I PROCEEDED TO TURN THE WHEEL AND IT WAS NORMAL. I DROVE MY CAR TO THE AUTO SHOP. MY CAR HAS BEEN CHECKED AND IT HAS POWER STEERING FLUID AND THE MECHANIC STATED ALL IS WELL WITH IT. MY CONCERN NOW IS WHY DID THAT HAPPEN AND WILL IT HAPPEN AGAIN.
WHILE DRIVING STEERING LIGHT COMES ON AND POWER STEERING FAILED AND WAS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AS I COULD BARELY MANAGE THE CAR. 2013 WITH 49000 MILES AND HAD TO REPLACE A $2500.00 POWER STEERING RACK. SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WITH 2013 ACCORD
CAR VIBRATES EXCESSIVELY WHEN IDLING OR IN PARK. HAVE THREE THOUSAND MILES ON ODOMETER AND PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. STARTED HAPPENING IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASING CAR.
SOON AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE, THE CARPETING STARTED COMING OUT FROM THE TRIM IN THE BACKSEAT FLOORBOARD. WE ARE RETIRED COUPLE SO TYPICALLY NO ONE SIT IN THE BACK SEAT CAUSING THIS ISSUE TO OCCUR. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THEY TRIED STAPLING THE CARPET BACK UNDER THE TRIM PIECE; HOWEVER, IT SOON CAME OUT. IN THE MEANTIME, MY HUSBAND GOT VERY ILL AND WAS IN AND OUT OF HOSPITALS FOR OVER A YEAR SO THIS ISSUE TOOK A BACK SEAT TO HIS HEALTH ISSUES. NOW HE IS WELL, AND ADDRESSING THIS CONTINUING ISSUE WHICH HE DID WITH AMERICAN HONDA; HOWEVER, THEY PRETTY MUCH TOLD US THAT THERE WASN'T ANYTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. COME ON...THIS IS SOMETHING THAT IS QUITE OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURE MISTAKE. THEY HAVE CUT THAT CARPETING TOO SHORT OR JUST TRIED USING A LEFTOVER PIECE. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING WE HAVE DONE. WE ARE GOOD CUSTOMERS, LOYAL CUSTOMERS AND WE TALK UP OUR HONDA AT EVERY TURN, BUT THIS IS REALLY CAUSING US SOME ANGST BETWEEN HONDA AND US - THE CUSTOMERS. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP US.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOPLIGHT, A SLIGHT PUSH ON THE GAS PEDAL HAS NO EFFECT ON THE CAR. SINCE THERE IS NO REACTION FROM THE CAR I WILL PUSH DOWN SLIGHTLY FURTHER ON THE GAS PEDAL IN WHICH CASE THE CAR ABSOLUTELY TAKES OFF AND ALMOST SPINS TIRES. VERY DANGEROUS IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS, ESPECIALLY WITH THE MORE POWERFUL V6 ENGINE I HAVE IN MY CROSSTOUR. THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH AND SCARES THE LIVING HELL OUT OF ME. NEXT TIME I BUY A CAR, I AM GETTING ON THIS WEBSITE FIRST. ALL BUT ONE CROSSTOUR COMPLAINT IS SPECIFICALLY RELATED TO THIS ISSUE.
MY REAR BRAKES PADS ARE COMPLETELY WORN OUT AND MY CAR DOES NOT EVEN HAVE 40K MILES ON IT. VERY DISAPPOINTED. HOW CAN MY REAR PADS BE OUT BEFORE MY FRONT PADS? ACCORDING TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP THE REAR BRAKES GO OUT FIRST ON THESE TYPES OF CARS. I AM NO MECHANIC BUT THIS DOES NOT MAKE SENSE TO ME WHEN THE TECH IS BLAMING MY STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. I'VE OWNED CHEVY'S AND FORD'S AND I'VE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY BRAKES GOING OUT SO SOON WHETHER FRONT OR REAR. I'M NEVER BUYING A HONDA AGAIN. *TR
WHEN I STARTED THE CAR, THE INDICATOR FOR A POWER STEERING FAILURE WAS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE POWER STEERING DID NOT FUNCTION, AND THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING ASSIST. THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. *JS
WHEN WE FIRST PURCHASED THIS 2013 HONDA WE LOVED IT AS IT IS A BEAUTIFUL CAR. MY HUSBAND AND I STARTED NOTICING A HESITATION WHEN STEPPING DOWN ON GAS PEDAL TO MOVE ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC INTO THE RIGHT HAND LANE MAKING A LEFT TURN. THE HESITATION BECAME FRIGHTENING. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANAGER EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THIS WAS NORMAL FOR HONDA AS IT WAS A TRANSITION PERIOD WHILE CHECKING TRACTION. WE SEE IT AS DANGEROUS. NOW THAT WE OWN THE CAR SINCE 3/7/14 WE NEED TO KNOW WHAT OUR OPTIONS ARE. DO WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THERE IS AN ACCIDENT? *TR
THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN OCTOBER 2013 AND CONTINUES TO DATE. WHEN STOPPED AT INTERSECTION AND MODERATELY ACCELERATE, THE CAR DOESN'T MOVE. IT CAUSE YOU TO PANIC AND ACCELERATE HARDER AND THEN THE CAR JERKS AND TAKES OFF TOO FAST. IT'S ALMOST LIKE WHEN YOU TAKE THE FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATE THE GEARS SLIP AND WHEN IT GRABS IT JERKS AND ACCELERATES ABRUPTLY. THIS IS NERVE RACKING WHEN TRYING TO TIME CROSS TRAFFIC TO CROSS INTERSECTION OR MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. NOT A VERY SECURE FEELING. *TR
AT LOW SPEED THE VEHICLE HESITATES BEFORE ACCELERATING. FIRST NOTICED PROBLEM IN MALL PARKING LOTS. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO SLOWLY MANEUVER THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL. IF YOU CONTINUE TO APPLY THE GAS, THE VEHICLE WOULD LUNGE FORWARD, ALMOST SPINNING THE FRONT WHEELS. YESTERDAY I MADE A RIGHT TURN ON TO A BUSY ROAD, AND THE VEHICLE JUST DIED. WITH A GARBAGE TRUCK FAST APPROACHING I CONTINUED TO APPLY THE GAS, AND THE VEHICLE FINALLY ACCELERATED. *TR
WHEN STOPPED AT INTERSECTION AND TAKING FOOT OFF BRAKE TO PROCEED, OCCASIONALLY CAR WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD WITH MODERATE GAS PEDAL PRESSURE. BACKING OFF THE GAS SLIGHTLY GETS CAR GOING FORWARD. ENGINE DOES NOT QUIT DURING THESE EPISODES, IT JUST WILL NOT MOVE CAR UNLESS GAS PEDAL POSITION IS CHANGED BY BACKING OFF A LITTLE. THIS CAN BE VERY PANIC-INDUCING WHEN TIMING CROSS-TRAFFIC FOR A CROSSING OR MERGE. *TR
HESITATION: WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, AFTER STOPPING, IN MANY INSTANCES THERE IS A VERY PRONOUNCED HESITATION BEFORE THE CAR STARTS FORWARD. THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC OR ACCELERATE FROM A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT. THERE IS A SAFETY PROBLEM WHEN PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR AND IT TAKES SEVERAL SECONDS FOR THE CAR TO START MOVING.
NOTE: THIS IN REFERENCE TO THE HONDA CROSSTOUR WHICH IS NOT LISTED IN YOUR DROP DOWN . THE HEAD RESTRAINT IS BADLY PROPORTIONED--WITH ANY ADJUSTMENT OF THE SEAT OR RESTRAINT IT FORCES MY FORWARD AND DOWN--THIS WAS NOT NOTICEABLE IN THE SHORT TEST DRIVE BUT ONLY DURING A LONGER DRIVE --AFTER A FAIRLY SHORT TIME I DEVELOPED A VERY PAINFUL NECK AND IT GOT WORSE WITH TIME.. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER BUT THEY DID NOT OFFER ANY SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM OTHER THAN TO ADJUST THE SEAT. TRIED THAT UNTIL I HAD EXHAUSTED ALL POSSIBLE POSITIONS WITH NO ACCEPTABLE RELIEF, THEY DID ADMIT THERE HAVE BEEN "A FEW" SUCH COMPLAINTS. I ALSO CALLED AMERICAN HONDA--THE RECEPTION WAS FRIENDLY AND THE PERSON I TALKED TO WAS CONCERNED BUT STATED SHE WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS AS I DESCRIBED. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FIND THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOE SOME TIME AND INCLUDES PRIOR MODEL YEARS AND OTHER MODELS. I DO BELIEVE A RATHER MINOR MODIFICATION COULD PROVIDE THE RELIEF NEEDED AND STILL BE WITHIN THE 50MM CLEARANCE THAT IS ALLOWED. *TR
