Summary

SRS Airbag check issue. Last few days, my car has been showing following symptoms 1) Day 1: SRS airbag check warning is flashing on the display. The passenger airbag is always OFF regardless of the passenger being seated or not. 2) Day 2: SRS airbag check warning goes away, but passenger seat airbag is always ON regardless of anyone sitting or not. Also the seat belt chime is sounded for the passenger seat. 3) Day 5: SRS airbag check warning comes back and passenger airbag is OFF. (same as Day 1). The auto mechanic says there is a code about Occupant classification system that is malfunctioning. Dealer wants to charge me a lot of money just to get it inspected and diagnosed. The car has not been in any collision. This seems like totally Toyota's design and part reliability issue. In no condition the driver or passenger safety should be compromised in such manner. Yet Toyota dealership is not standing behind their mfg commitment to safe driving experience.

Summary

This is to advise you of a safety issue with our 2013 Toyota Sienna XLE Minivan having a V6 (3.5L) engine. Our vehicle currently has 118,169 miles on it and has been well maintained. This vehicle was purchased new and is operated primarily in Florida where we live. Over the last 6 - 10 months on three occasions our Sienna Minivan suddenly lurched forward as the engine revved up. On all three occasions, I had to take quick action and with significant force press the brake pedal as well as place the minivan in neutral and then into park in order to stop our minivan from surging forward and hitting the car in front of me. On all three occasions, my right foot was on the brake pedal when this occurred and on two of the three occasions, our minivan was slowly accelerating from either a stopped position or a very low speed (5 mph or less). On one of the occasions I was approaching an intersection with a stop sign and our minivan was decelerating to a stop when the engine revved up and the minivan surged forward. This occurred as our minivan was going approximately 5 - 10 mph. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to any of these incidents. I have reported this condition to our local Toyota Dealer but they said they could not duplicate the issue during their test drive. This is a serious safety condition and one that could result in a serious accident with injuries particularly if the driver is not quick to react to this unexpected condition.

Summary

I have been notified by my Toyota dealership that the rear viscous coupler on my Sienna has failed and that the RAV4s have been recalled for this same part as a safety issue ( years ago). This part is a known manufacturing defect. Forums are wallpapered with complaints about this for years, I've already lodged a complaint with Toyota but they are doing nothing. Customers should not be on the hook for a $2500 repair that is a known manufacturing defect. The coupler recall should be extended to the Siennas!

Summary

DURING MY 60K SERVICE (57K MILES RUN) ON APR 20, THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP (PIERCEY TOYOTA) IDENTIFIED A MAJOR SERVICE RELATED TO SUSPENSION WHICH IS EXPECT TO COST AROUND $3000. MY VEHICLE USAGE IS MINIMAL WHICH IS QUITE EVIDENT FROM BARELY 57000 MILES RUN DURING LAST 8 YEARS. I'M EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED THAT THE SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM HAS FAILED WITH SUCH LIMITED USE WHICH CLEARLY SUGGESTS DEFECTIVE QUALITY FROM TOYOTA. RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET (SEARCH STRING - SIENNA CONTROL ARM PROBLEM) I FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS COMMON ISSUE ON SIENNA TO THE POINT IT LEADS EM TO BELIEVE THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL E.G. HTTPS://WWW.SIENNACHAT.COM/THREADS/2011-SIENNA-SE-DEALER-RECOMMENDS-REPLACING-CONTROL-ARMS-LOWER-BALL-JOINTS.62597/. THIS APPEARS TO BE RECURRING ISSUE WITH SIENNA, HENCE I'M FILING THIS RECALL REQUEST/COMPLAINT.

WHEN TRAVELING AROUND 30 TO 35 MPH (WELL UNDER SPEED LIMIT) ON DRY CLEAR ROADS, ON LEFT TURNS (OFTEN SLIGHTLY DOWNHILL) SUDDENLY THE VSC AND SLIP/TRAC LIGHTS UP, THE ABS SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED / BRAKES ENGAGE. FOOT IS NOT ON THE BRAKE AND SPEEDS ARE NOT EXCESSIVE. I AM NOT USING RUN-FLAT TIRES, BUT THAT DOESN'T SEEM TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR OTHERS ONLINE. I SEE DOZENS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS SAME THING FROM 2001 TO 2015 SIENNAS. TWO SAY THAT REPLACING RACK & PINION FIXED IT; 1 SAYS IT DOES NOT. THIS STARTED HAPPENING ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO, BUT IS NOW HAPPENING MORE OFTEN. APPROX 156K MILES. OTHER FIXES THAT HAVE NOT WORKED: REPLACE FRONT SPEED SENSORS, CHANGED ALL PADS AND ROTORS, AND REPLACING THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR. NONE OF THOSE WORKED. ON PERSON SAYS, "MOST COMMON PROB SEEMS TO BE THE RACK BUSHING WHERE THE RACK IS MOUNTED. THEY WEAR OUT AND CAUSE THE RACK TO MOVE WHEN TURNING...BUSHINGS ARE HARD TO REPLACE SO JUST REPLACE THE RACK AND IT WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM IF IT IS LOOSE. ( ALTHOUGH ITS A BIT EXPENSIVE) THE YAW SENSOR OR STEERING SENSOR HAS ALSO BEEN THE CULPRIT IN SOME CASES." ANOTHER SAYS, "STEERING LINKAGES COULD BE ANOTHER CULPRIT - CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS WERE SEVERELY WORN AND COULD POTENTIALLY BE ANOTHER SOURCE. ALIGNMENT AND ZERO-POINT CALIBRATION SOMETIMES HELP, BUT NOT FOR LONG." I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING MYSELF OR MY CHILDREN IN THIS CAR, BUT CAN'T AFFORD ANOTHER. AND CAN'T AFFORD A $1K FIX - ESPECIALLY IF OTHERS HAVE THIS ISSUE. WHAT CAN I DO?

VAN JUST HAD CABIN FILTERS REPLACED AND AUTO SHOP STATED THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND COUPLER WERE BLOWN AND TO GET A USED PART AND REPLACE IT WOULD BE $4300. THE VAN IS A 2013 WITH 86,000 MILES ON IT. THE RAV-4 HAS THE EXACT SAME PART UNDER A RECALL. HOW DIFFERENT COULD THE PARTS BE IN THE SAME COMPANY FOR 2 VEHICLES LIKE THIS? IT SEEMS LIKE TOYOTA SHOULD BE ISSUING A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM AS I JUST READ ABOUT 6 OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS ALONE ALL WITH VEHICLES WITH RELATIVELY LOW MILEAGE. THIS IS A DISSERVICE TO LOYAL TOYOTA CUSTOMERS AND A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE TO PEOPLE DRIVING THEIR FAMILIES IN THESE MINI-VANS.

BECAUSE I LIVE ON A DIRT ROAD; I AM ASSUMING THAT BUILT UP ON THE WINDOW ROLLERS, HAVE DAMAGED MY WINDOWS. MY WINDOWS ARE SCRATCHED, TO THE POINT WHERE IT AFFECTS VISIBILITY. I THOUGHT THE SCRATCHES WERE ON THE WINDOW TINT (INTERIOR); BUT IT TURNS OUT, IT IS ON THE EXTERIOR (THE GLASS). I WENT TO A WINDOW REPAIR SHOP, HOPING THEY COULD RESURFACE THE GLASS. THEY SAID THERE IS NO REPAIR AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THEM. REPLACING 3 TO FOUR WINDOWS WOULD COST OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS (TINT EXTRA). I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE APART FROM THE HIDEOUS LOOK, MY FAMILIES SAFETY IS AT RISK. I CHOSE NOT TO REPLACE THE WINDOWS, BECAUSE THE ROLLERS WILL JUST BEGIN THE PROCESS ALL OVER AGAIN. IF YOU LIVE ON A DIRT ROAD, I RECOMMEND YOU EITHER WASH YOUR CAR, VERY REGULARLY OR DON'T ROLL DOWN YOUR WINDOWS AT ALL. THE LATTER IS VERY DIFFICULT FOR US TO DO. I LIVE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, AND IT GETS VERY HOT; INSIDE A PARKED VEHICLE. WHEN I PUT MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR; I ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS IMMEDIATELY, AND START THE A.C; TO BRING THE TEMPERATURE DOWN. I HOPE TOYOTA BECOMES AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND INSTALLS BETTER ROLLERS, OR OFFERS REPAIRS. THANK YOU.

MY 2013 TOYOTA SIENNA WON'T STOP WHEN I COME TO A STOP SIGN. IT HAS HAPPENED 4X NOW. I NEED TO FIGHT TO KEEP THE BRAKE PRESSED, AND THE ENGINE REVS WAY UP. IF THERE WAS SOMEONE AHEAD OF ME, I WOULD HAVE HIT THEM. I SHIFT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND IT REVS EXTREMELY LOUD. THIS LAST TIME, WITH MY 3 YEAR OLD IN BACK SEAT SAID, ' DADDY I SCARED, I DON'T WANT TO BE IN HERE ANYMORE...'. THE NOISE OF THE ENGINE REVING SCARED HIM. I'M GOING TO TRADE THIS VAN IN. IT ONLY HAS 38000 MILES ON IT. I'M REPORTING THIS, SO THAT WHEN SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED BY THIS VAN - THE DRIVER CAN TRY TO GET TOYOTA TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE OUTCOME. I'M THE SECOND OWNER. MAYBE THIS IS THE REASON THE FIRST OWNER GOT RID OF IT...

Summary

WE EXPERIENCED A VERY COLD ARCTIC BLASE IN EARLY JANUARY 2018. THE VAN WAS IN OUR GARAGE. WHEN I TRIED TO OPED THE LEFT HAND REAR SLIDING DOOR, IT WOULD NOT OPEN. AFTER A SECOND ATTEMPT, IT DID OPEN BUT THEN REVERSED. EVENTUALLY, IT WOULD NOT CLOSE AND LATCH, SO WE DID NOT DRIVE IT THAT DAY. I HAD TO SLAM IT SHUT IN ORDER FOR THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO SO OUT SO NOT TO RUN DOWN THE BATTERY. I DID DRIVE IT A FEW DAYS LATER, AND THE DOOR CAME OPEN WHEN I MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN. WHEN I WOULD STOP, IT SHUT, BUT DID NOT LATCH. I SET UP AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM AFTER EXPLAINING THE PROBLEM AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD ORDER THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. LATER THAT DAY, DEALER SAID THERE WAS ALSO A PROBLEM WITH THE CLOSING MOTOR AND THAT WAS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL REPAIR. IT ONLY COVERED THE WIRING HARNESS AND JUNCTION BOX. I GOT A RIDE FROM WORK TO THE DEALER AND THEY OFFERED ME A LOANER WHILE THEY DID MORE EVALUATIONS OF THE PROBLEM. LATER THE NEXT DAY, I WAS TOLD THE REPAIRS WOULD COST $1300 AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. I FELT THAT THE FAILURE OF THE CABLES AND THE FUSE BEING OVERLOADED PROBABLY CONTRIBUTED TO THE MOTOR FAILING. I THEN TOLD THEM JUST TO DISABLE THE POWER FUNCTION AND WE WOULD JUST OPEN AND CLOSE MANUALLY BECAUSE I COULD NOT AFFORD THAT REPAIR AT THIS TIME. LATER THAT DAY. THE SERVICE ADVISER LEFT ME A VOICE MAIL THAT THEY COULD NOT MAKE THE REPAIR NOR REPAIR THE LATCH AND THE VEHICLE WAS READY FOR ME TO PICK UP. I CALL BACK ON SATURDAY MORNING TO SPEAK TO SERVICE MANAGER, BUT HE WAS OFF. I CALLED BACK ON MONDAY, BUT HAD TO LEAVE A VOICE MESSAGE. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT EVEN IF I COULD AFFORD THE REPAIR THIS TIME, IT WILL PROBABLY HAPPEN TO THE OTHER DOOR AT SOME POINT AS WELL. THERE SEEMS TO BE QUITE A HISTORY OF THIS PROBLEM GOING BACK SEVERAL YEARS AND IT'S MORE OF A DESIGN ISSUE.

I SAW IN ONE TOYOTA SIENNA FORUM TALKING ABOUT THE ISSUE WITH THEIR "STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT" WHERE ONE OF THE OWNER HAVE THIS ISSUE. I HAVE HAD A SLIDING DOOR FAILURE, EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IN NOTIFICATION ZH4 AND ZH5, AND SAFETY RECALL 16V-858. THE REAR SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT FULLY CLOSE, OR WOULD NOT LATCH, AND WOULD OFTEN RE-OPEN AUTOMATICALLY. THE DOOR EXHIBITED A GRINDING NOISE AND WOULD OFTEN NOT LATCH. THIS ON A VEHICLE JUST OVER 3 YEARS OLD WITH 48,880 MILES ON IT, ALWAYS GARAGED AND NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT. WHEN I THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER ON JUNE 13TH, 2017, THE DEALER REPAIRED THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE UPPER DOOR HINGE WHICH APPARENTLY HAD FAILED. I WAS CHARGED $323.46 AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. AFTER THE RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED, I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT, WHICH WAS DENIED AS THEY SAID THE CONDITION MY VEHICLE EXHIBITED WAS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT ON A CURRENT VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED BY TOYOTA WHEN THE SYMPTOM MIRRORS THAT DESCRIBED IN THE CURRENT RECALL.

THIS MINI VAN IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST VEHICLE FOR TIRE WEAR. AT 90,000 MILES, I HAVE PUT ON 5 DIFFERENT SETS OF TIRES. I'VE ROTATED THE TIRE FAIRLY RELIGIOUSLY AT 6-8K MILES AND EVEN THOUGH THE TIRES ARE WEARING EVENLY, THEY WEAR OUT FAST ESPECIALLY ON THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS AN ENGINEERING DEFECT THAT TOYOTA SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR. IT ALSO PUTS THE OCCUPANTS AT RISK OF BLOWOUT AS TIRES ARE WEARING MUCH FASTER THAN IS NORMAL.

I HAD THE RECENT SLIDING DOOR RECALL DONE BUT MY DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR STILL ISN'T WORKING CORRECTLY. AFTER THE FIX THE CAR WAS HARD TO START SOMETIMES, AS IF THE BATTERY WAS GETTING WEAK. I PUT AN AMMETER ON THE POSITIVE LEAD OF THE BATTERY AND NOTICES MINIMAL AMPERAGE UNTIL I STARTED OPERATING THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR, THEN THERE WAS A 2.4 AMP DRAW EVEN AFTER THE DOORS WERE CLOSED AND THE CAR WAS LOCKED. THE DOOR ALSO SOMETIMES WILL OPEN WITH A POPPING NOISE AS IF THE DOOR ISN'T LATCHING PROPERLY SOMETIMES. WHILE TESTING, THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR GOT TO WHERE IT WOULD NOT OPEN OR CLOSE USING THE OVERHEAD BUTTON, THE DOOR POST BUTTON, OR THE REMOTE DOOR BUTTON. WHILE TRYING TO CLOSE THE DOOR MANUALLY IT WOULD ROLL FOR A SHORT DISTANCE AND STOP. AFTER SITTING A FEW SECONDS I CAN CLOSE IT A LITTLE MORE BUT THEN THE SAME THING WOULD HAPPEN. IT TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET THE DOOR TO CLOSE. THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OPENS AND CLOSES NORMALLY. NO POPPING NOISE AND THE BUTTONS WORK EVEN WHEN THE BUTTONS FOR THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR DO NOT.

THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE SEAT REMOVED BEFORE THEY COULD MAKE THE REPAIR. I CONTACTED THE COM[PANY THAT INSTALLED THE SEAT WHO SAID IT WOULD COST A MINIMUM OF $500 TO REMOVE AND REINSTALL THE SEAT. IT IS TOYOTA'S DOOR THAT IS DEFECTIVE AND I FEEL THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY COSTS FOR REPAIR. THEIR RECALL NOTICE ALSO STATES REPAIRS WILL BE MADE AT "NO CHARGE" TO THE CUSTOMER.

THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS TO IF A CHILD OR PERSON WAS IN THAT SEAT AND WOULD BE UNABLE TO GET OUT IN THE CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. THE VEHICLE WAS IN A STATIONARY POSITION WHEN THIS HAPPENED. NOW THE ONE DOOR WILL BECOME UNLODGED AND OPEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. WHEN I TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR USING MY KEY FOB, THE DOOR OPENED, BUT THEM PROCEED TO MAKE A HIGH PITCHED BEEPING NOISE (LIKE WHEN YOU TRY TO LOCK THE DOORS WHILE ONE OF THE DOORS IS OPEN). THE DOORS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY CLOSE AND IT NEEDS TO BE MANUALLY CLOSED. AFTER INVESTIGATING, I NOTICED THAT THE CABLE OF THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERED. THE CAR HAS BEEN ROUTINELY MAINTAINED AS SUGGESTED BY TOYOTA AND HAS 39,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND WE ARE THE ORIGINALLY OWNERS OF THE CAR.

Summary

ON NOVEMBER 22, 2016, A RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED FOR THE SLIDING DOOR OPERATIONS. WE THEN DISABLED THE DOOR OPERATIONS PURSUANT TO THE RECALL NOTICE AND HAD THE DEALER LIKEWISE FURTHER DISABLE THE DOOR OPERATION. MORE THAN 7 MONTHS LATER, THERE IS NO REMEDY AND THE DOOR MOTOR STILL RUNS WHEN CLOSING THE DOOR WHICH, SEEMINGLY, IS PART OF THE PROBLEM SO OUR STEPS COUPLED WITH THE STEPS OF THE DEALER, LEAVE US IN NO BETTER OF A PLACE WITH DOORS AND A HATCH THAT REQUIRE MANUAL CLOSING WHICH IS VERY HEARD FROM MY CHILDREN.

I HAVE A 2013 TOYOTA SIENNA AWD WITH 23,500 MILES ON IT AND MY BRAKES JUST STARTED SCRAPPING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE WORN OUT AND NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. COST: $970 AND CHANGE. A CAR WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE SHOULD NOT NEED NEW BRAKES AND ROTORS.THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT GIVE ME A REASON FOR THE WEAR BUT INSISTED THE WORK WAS NECESSARY AND THAT THEY HAD THE CAR APART AND READY TO GO. BECAUSE IT IS A 2013 THERE WAS NO WARRANTEE SO I HAD TO PAY THE ENTIRE BILL OUT OF POCKET.

THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR ON A 2013 TOYOTA SIENNA MINIVAN WAS SLOW TO OPEN DO TO OVERNIGHT FREEZING RAIN. HOWEVER, THE DOOR DID OPEN BUT THEN WOULD NOT AUTOMATICALLY RECLOSE. MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH WHEN MANUALLY CLOSED. THE DOOR HAD TO BE TIED SHUT IN ORDER TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE TOYOTA DEALER SINCE THERE WAS NO OTHER WAY TO FASTEN IT. THE DEALER REPORTED THEY KNEW THIS WAS PART OF A TOYOTA RECALL BUT THEY HAD NO DOCUMENTATION ON HOW TO FIX IT FROM TOYOTA SO THEY JUST REPLACED THE ENTIRE MOTOR ASSEMBLY. TOYOTA HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT. IT IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT HAS TO BE FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE FALLS OUT OF A MOVING VEHICLE. THE DOOR CLOSES AND APPEARS LATCHED UNTIL YOU DRIVE AND THEN IT FLIES OPEN.

WHILE STATIONARY IN DRIVEWAY, PASSENGER REAR DOOR INTERMITTENTLY WILL NOT OPEN OR WILL NOT CLOSE. WE HAVE NOTICED THIS AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TURNED OFF, AND THE KEY IS NO LONGER IN THE IGNITION. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. MY SON WILL PUSH THE BUTTON FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, AND ATTEMPT TO USE THE HANDLE ON THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHEN THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN, HE HAD TO USE THE DOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE TO GET OUT. THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER TIMES AFTER HE HAS GOTTEN IN THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR, BUT THE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. IT TAKES PUSHING THE BUTTON MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET THE DOOR TO CLOSE. THIS HAS HAPPENED BOTH WHILE THE KEY IS NOT IN THE IGNITION AND THE CAR IS OFF, AND AFTER THE CAR IS STARTED. CLIMATE OUTSIDE HAS VARIED DURING THESE EPISODES AS WELL.

THE 2013 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AT LARRY H. MILLER TOYOTA IN SPOKANE, WA. ALL MAINTENANCE WAS PERFORMED AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP ACCORDING TO SCHEDULE, WITH NO PROBLEMS NOTED OTHER THAN EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS USED FOR NORMAL CITY AND HIGHWAY DRIVING ONLY, NO GRAVEL OR OFF-ROAD USE. DURING THE 25,000 MILES (VEHICLE MILEAGE IS SLIGHTLY LESS) CHECKUP AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE TIRES WERE DISCOVERED TO BE TREAD-BARE WITH METAL THREADS VISIBLE IN IRREGULAR PATTERNS. THIS WAS NOT AN ALIGNMENT ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW, AND ALL MAINTENANCE WAS PERFORMED ACCORDING TO SCHEDULE, THEREFORE THE TIRES ARE LIKELY DEFECTIVE. THE TIRES IN QUESTION ARE BRIDGESTONE TURANZA EL400-02 RFT. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS TIRE GOING TREAD-BARE ON OR BEFORE 20,000 MILES - THIS IS 1/2 TO 1/3 THE NORMAL LIFESPAN OF A TRADITIONAL TIRE AND OWNERS SHOULD BE NOTIFIED OF THE POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD AND BE REIMBURSED FOR ASSOCIATED REPLACEMENT COSTS. THE TIRES IN QUESTION HAVE A 6-YEAR WARRANTY ON MANUFACTURER DEFECTS, BUT THE TIRE COMPANY DOESN'T WANT TO PAY TO REPLACE THEM. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ALL THE DOCUMENTATION TO PROVE THE PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE WORK WAS DONE PROPERLY FROM DAY 1 AND BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WARRANTY DOESN'T COVER TIRES, THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO DO THE RIGHT THING. I NOW HAVE A VEHICLE, IN LIKE NEW CONDITION, THAT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND NEITHER THE TIRE MANUFACTURER OR THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER WILL ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. I AM A DISABLED VETERAN, WITH LIMITED MOBILITY, AND ON A FIXED INCOME - ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU.

I BOUGHT MY SIENNA 12/27/2012. IN OCTOBER 2014 WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM LAKE TAHOE, THE CAR BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY WHILE TRAVELING DOWN HILL. UPON RETURNING HOME THE CAR CONTINUED TO SHAKE ANYTIME THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR HAD $15K MILES ON IT. THIS IS UNHEARD OF. IN JULY 2014 TOYOTA ISSUED T-SB-0045-14 RELATING TO THIS ISSUE AND RECOMMENDED A "SHIM KIT" AS A REPAIR. THIS WAS ALSO ADDED TO MY CAR. IN MAY OF 2016 WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE GRAPEVINE FROM LA THE CAR AGAIN BEGAN TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE. TOOK THE CAR BACK. AGAIN, 15K MILES AND THE ROTORS ARE WARPED AND NOW WE NEED NEW TIRES AND BACK BRAKES TOO. MY FAMILY HAS OWED 14 TOYOTAS AND WE HAVE NEVER REPLACED ROTORS TWICE AT 31,000 MILES! THERE IS CLEARLY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM OF THIS CAR THAT IS CAUSING IT TO EAT THROUGH BRAKES, ROTORS, AND TIRES AND THE "FIX" THAT TOYOTA HAS COME UP WITH IS NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM!!

I PULLED THE COVER CLOSED TO PROTECT MYSELF FROM THE POSSIBILITY OF ANY GLASS FALLING INTO THE VEHICLE. WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS INFORMED THAT I CLEARLY HAD SOMETHING HIT IT; I EXPLAINED THE DRIVING CONDITIONS AND WAS STILL TOLD SOMETHING MUST HAVE HIT IT. I HAVE AN ALL WHEEL DRIVE TOYOTA SIENNA WITH RUN-FLAT TIRES THAT I BOUGHT NEW. THE TIRES HAD CATASTROPHIC WEAR DOWN TO THE BELTS ON THE IN ONLY 25000 MILES, ESPECIALLY ON THE REAR. SUSPENSION ALIGNMENT CHECK AT THE DEALER SHOWED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION WAS "IN-SPEC" AND ADDITIONALLY WAS NOT ADJUSTABLE. THE EALER TOLD ME THIS TYPE OF WEAR WAS "NORMAL". I HAVE NEVER SEEN TIRES WEAR AT THE INSIDE EDGE DOWN TO THE STEEL BELTS LIKE THIS ON ANY OF MY MANY VEHICLES OVER 40 YEARS OF DRIVING. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS DUE TO RUN FLAT TIRES, AND THIS IS HOW THEY WEAR. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT AS I HAVE ANOTHER VEHICLE WITH RUN FLAT TIRES THAT HAS NO SUCH PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THE SUSPENSION GEOMETRY WITH THE TOYOTA SIENNA AWD VEHICLE THAT CAUSES THIS CATASTROPHIC AND SEVERE TIRE WEAR. THESE WERE FACTORY INSTALLED OEM BRIDGESTONE TURANZA TIRES, NEVER ABUSED OR OVERLOADED, AND AS CAN BE SEEN IN THE PICTURES, WERE WORN, BUT WERE NOT DOWN TO THE WEAR BARS. UPON RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, IT WOULD APPEAR THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE SPECIFIC TO TOYOTA SIENNA AWD VANS. I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND THIS WEAR BEING "NORMAL" UNDER ANY DEFINITION. IT IS CLEARLY A SAFETY HAZARD AND A DEFECT EITHER WITH THE VEHICLE OR THE DESIGN OF THESE TIRES..

THIS HAS NOW OCCURRED TWICE AND HAS BEEN REPAIRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE 1ST TIME HAPPENED A FEW WEEKS AFTER BEING PURCHASED. I WAS TRAVELING APPROX 45-50MPH, BEGAN BREAKING FOR A YELLOW LIGHT WHEN SUDDENLY THE WOMAN IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED SHORT OF THE LIGHT. TO AVOID HITTING HER I HAD TO BREAK FIRM BUT NOT SLAMMING ON THE BREAKS. I STOPPED ABOUT A CAR LENGTH SHORT OF HER AND THEN FELT AN IMPACT. I ASSUMED I HAD BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND BY ANOTHER DRIVER BUT THERE WAS NO CAR THERE. I PULLED INTO A MALL JUST AHEAD AND LOOKED BEHIND THE DRIVERS SEAT TO FIND THE 2ND ROW SEAT, WHERE 10 MINUTES BEFORE MY DAUGHTER HAD BEEN SITTING, HAD COLLAPSED FORWARD, SLID ON THE RAILS AND SLAMMED INTO THE DRIVERS SEAT. THE SEAT WAS LOCKED AND UNABLE TO BE MOVED IN IT'S COLLAPSED POSITION. I SUFFERED EXTREME WHIP LASH AND BACK PAIN. SINCE I WAS IN-ROUTE TO TOYOTA FOR MORE PROBLEMS I WENT TO THE DEALER WHO MOVED THE SEAT BACK AND CLAIMED "MY DAUGHTER MUST HAVE PLAYED WITH IT" AFTER GOING TO A NEW DEALERSHIP AND MONTHS OF TESTING AND BACK AND FORTH TOYOTA REPLICATED THE PROBLEM AND SAID THE RAILS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT NOT THE SEAT. THEY ALSO HAD ME SIGN OFF THAT THEY COULD INSPECT THE PARTS AND TELL ME WHY IT FAILED. THIS NEVER HAPPENED. TWO WEEKS AGO I WAS SLOWING ON A STEEP TWISTING DIRT ROAD TO STOP BEFORE TURNING ON A BRIDGE AND HEAR A SOUND LIKE GOING UP A ROLLER COASTER. CLICK CLICK CLICK. I BRACED BC I KNEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND AGAIN MY DAUGHTERS SEAT SLAMMED INTO MINE. THIS TIME NOT ONLY DID THE RAILS FAIL TO STOP THE SEAT BUT IT AGAIN COLLAPSED FORWARD AND THIS TIME THE FOOT REST ALSO UNLOCKED AND LODGED UNDER MY SEAT. LUCKILY I DID NOT HAVE MY DAUGHTER IN THE VAN THIS TIME EITHER. 2.5 YEARS OF REPEATED UNSUCCESSFUL REPAIRS TO VARIOUS PARTS (MOON ROOF 8+)(RADIO/GPS 5+)(SQUEAKING/RATTLING REAR SEATS 5+) LIABILITY REPORT FILED (4TH) WILL CONTACT A LAWYER THIS TIME.

I'VE NOTED THAT THERE ARE 2 OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS ISSUE AND HOPE THAT THIS SAFETY ISSUE WILL BE INVESTIGATED. TONIGHT AROUND 1950 HRS., WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK MY VEHICLE IN A PARKING COVER, I LOST CONTROL OVER MY TOYOTA SIENNA 2013 DUE TO UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED SUDDENLY AND AS A RESULT I HIT AND RUN OVER THE CURB. I TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKE PADDLE WITH ALL OF MY STRENGTH WITHOUT ANY SUCCESS. TWO OF MY CHILDREN WERE FRIGHTENED BECAUSE OF THIS ACCIDENT. IF IT WASN'T FOR THE CURB IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE, MY VEHICLE WOULD HAVE STRUCK/HIT THE APARTMENT BUILDING IN FRONT OF ME.

MY WIFE AND I WERE GOING OUT OF OUR 60 FOOT DRIVEWAY. WE WERE GOING FORWARD AS I ALWAYS BACK INTO THE DRIVEWAY. I APPLIED THE ACCELERATOR A LITTLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE END OF THE DRIVEWAY. I APPLIED THE BRAKE AND HELD IT DOWN SO I COULD LOOK FOR TRAFFIC. AS I HELD DOWN ON THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE STARTED TO "RACE" AS IF SOMEONE WAS PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR. THE BRAKES HELD. I TURNED OFF THE MOTOR, CALMED DOWN AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE- NO MOTOR "RUSH." THANK THE LORD THIS HAPPENED IN OUR DRIVEWAY. HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, WE COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE OR GOTTEN KILLED OURSELVES. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS OF ALL THOSE RECALLS BECAUSE OF UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. MY SECOND THOUGHT WAS, "WHEN WILL THIS HAPPEN AGAIN?"

IT WAS ALSO INTERESTING TO NOTE THAT THE REAR WINDOWS WERE/ARE ON NATIONAL BACKORDER FROM TOYOTA. THE WINDOW INSTALLED IN MY VAN WAS APPARENTLY A "TAKE OFF" FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE. I AM HIGHLY CONCERNED THAT THIS ISSUE WILL OCCUR AGAIN, POSSIBLY NEXT TIME WHILE DRIVING OR WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE.

AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO THE GAS STATION AND FILLING UP WITH GAS, THE VAN WOULD NOT RESTART. WHEN THE START BUTTON WAS PRESSED, IT WOULD JUST CLICK, AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT WAS DETERMINED THAT AT LEAST THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. THIS ALL HAPPENED IN 5 DEGREE WEATHER. IN AN ATTEMPT TO OPEN THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR, UNLOCKED SLIDING POWER DOOR, IT WOULD NOT OPEN. MY WIFE WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR TO GET OUR 18 MONTH OLD OUT OF A COLD CAR. IN A PANIC, SHE HAD TO CLIMB OVER THE CENTER CONSOLE FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT TO PULL HIM OUT, AND THEN CLIMB BACK OVER TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE VAN WAS FINALLY JUMP STARTED AND BROUGHT TO THE DEALER, THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY, AND JUST SHRUGGED OFF THE FACT THAT THE DOOR WOULDN'T OPEN WHEN THE BATTERY IS DEAD. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN FOR US. IF WE HAPPEN TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE BATTERY GETS DISCONNECTED, WE WOULD NT BE ABLE TO QUICKLY AND SAFELY REMOVE OUR CHILD FROM THE VAN. *TR

FROM THE ONSET OF PURCHASE OF A 2013 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE, THE AIR CONDITIONER HAS EMITTED A FOUL ODOR THAT SMELLS LIKE MOLD. NOR WILL THE A/C SYSTEM ADEQUATELY COOL THE VEHICLE UNTIL BEING DRIVEN SOMETIMES AS LONG AS TEN MILES, IF THEN. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD TO TURN OFF THE A/C BEFORE ARRIVING HOME TO ELIMINATE THE ODOR AND GIVEN A TOYOTA PRINT OUT THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT IS SPECIFIC TO THE 2013 TOYOTA SIENNA. ON THE LAST SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE FREON WAS ADDED BUT DID NOT ELIMINATE THE ODOR OR IMPROVED THE A/C OUTPUT. THE FOUL ODOR NEVER GOES AWAY WHILE DRIVING AND MAY BE AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD FOR PERSONS WITH A LUNG OR BREATHING CONDITION. THIS IS A TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE SOLUTION FOR THE RISK OF BEING EXPOSED TO A POTENTIAL DANGEROUS AND UNKNOWN NOXIOUS FUME TO THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. *TR

Summary

FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS, OUR VEHICLE, A 2013 TOYOTA SIENNA THAT WE PURCHASED NEW, HAS EMITTED A VERY FOUL ODOR FROM THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. FROM ALL THE INFORMATION I HAVE, THIS APPEARS TO BE FROM MOLD GROWTH. I AM WORRIED THAT ASIDE FROM BEING EXTREMELY UNPLEASANT, IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN. AFTER NUMEROUS TRIPS TO TWO DIFFERENT TOYOTA DEALERS FOR SERVICE, AN INSPECTION BY A SOUTHEAST TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE, AND FOLLOWING ALL THE GUIDELINES FOUND IN THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN, WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY IMPROVEMENT. THE ODOR IS SPORADIC BUT PERSISTENT, USUALLY OCCURRING SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK. AS I'VE EXPLAINED TO TOYOTA, THERE ARE THREE DISTINCT "SMELLS" (VINEGAR, WET DOG, AND ONE JUST VERY, VERY BAD). WE FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA LAST SPRING, WROTE LETTERS TO MANY TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVES, MET WITH THE GENERAL MANAGER AT THE DEALER WHERE WE PURCHASED IT, AND HAVE BEEN IN PHONE CONTACT THE PAST THREE WEEKS WITH A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE OFFICE OF [XXX] , CEO AND PRESIDENT OF TOYOTA NORTH AMERICA. TOYOTA MAINTAINS THIS IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE AND NOT A MECHANICAL ONE, THEREFORE THEY WON'T FIX IT. I HAVE OTHER VEHICLES IN THE SAME ENVIRONMENT WITHOUT THIS PROBLEM. BEING THAT THIS VAN WAS PURCHASED NEW, MY FIRST NEW VEHICLE EVER, MAKES IT EVEN MORE UPSETTING. WHILE ONE DEALERSHIP SAID A RECALL IS POSSIBLE, UNLESS THIS IS DEEMED A SAFETY CONCERN, I DO NOT SEE TOYOTA ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE. PLEASE HELP. MY WIFE WENT OUTSIDE THIS MORNING AND SAW WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PICTURES. THE REAR GLASS WAS SHATTERED AND GLASS WAS ON THE OUTSIDE INDICATING THAT THE WINDOW HAD POSSIBLY BEEN PUSHED OUTWARDS. THERE WAS ONLY A LITTLE BIT OF GLASS ON THE INSIDE. I PARKED THE CAR OUTSIDE LAST NIGHT AND IT WAS NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR TEXAS. THE REAR OF THE CAR WAS LESS THAN A FOOT FROM OUR GARAGE. THE DAMAGE IS NOT CONSISTENT WITH VANDALISM AND THERE ARE NO GLASS PIECES INSIDE THE CAR THAT WOULD SUGGEST A BAT OR ANYTHING ELSE. WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO TEXAS TOYOTA OF GRAPEVINE WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE A WASTE (OTHER THAN THE SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE). THEY REFUSED TO ACCEPT THAT IT COULD POSSIBLY BE A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AND SINCE THEY "HAD NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE SO IT WON'T BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY." THEY WOULD NOT LOOK AT THE PICTURES I PROVIDED AND INSTEAD DECIDED THAT THERE WAS NO WAY THAT THEY COULD PROVE IT WAS A DEFECT. THEY DID NOT EVEN CONSIDER THAT IT COULD BE A BAD DEFROSTER UNIT (OTHER REPORTS ON THIS SITE INDICATED THAT POSSIBILITY) OR THE REAR DOOR FRAME WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT OR THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT WITH THE MANUFACTURING OF THE WINDOW ITSELF. NO ONE FROM MANAGEMENT CAME AND ASKED US WHAT HAPPENED OR OFFERED TO HAVE US WALK THROUGH WHAT WE FOUND. AFTER THE OIL CHANGE WAS COMPLETE, THE CAR WAS DELIVERED BACK TO US WITH THE GLASS STILL IN THE VEHICLE AND THE REAR WINDOW NOT COVERED. TEXAS TOYOTA OF GRAPEVINE WEBSITE STATES THAT ALL SERVICE COMES WITH "COMPLIMENTARY CAR WASH AND INTERIOR VACUUM." I CAN UNDERSTAND NOT WASHING BUT THE INTERIOR VACUUM IS UNACCEPTABLE. AS FAR AS WE ARE CONCERNED, THEY LET US LEAVE THE FACILITY WITH AN UNSAFE VEHICLE WITH NO REGARD FOR OUR SAFETY OR THE SAFETY OF OTHER DRIVERS. *TR

AS I WAS PULLING ON TO THE HIGHWAY THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I THEN NOTICED THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERPOWERED, LIKE ONE CYLINDER WAS DEACTIVATED. CALLED MY DEALER FROM HIGHWAY WHO ADVISED THAT THEY WERE CLOSING IN 5 MINS AND TO NOT TURN IT OFF AS IT MAY NOT RESTART AND I MAY BE STRANDED ON HIGHWAY. DEALER FELT THAT IT WAS JUST BAD GAS, BUT I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THEM CHECK OUT THE CAR THE NEXT DAY. DROVE AT REDUCED SPEED TO MY HOUSE, TURNED CAR OFF AND A FEW MINUTES LATER RESTARTED VAN AND ALL THE LIGHTS WENT OUT AND THE CAR PERFORMED AS NORMAL. THE DEALER INSPECTION THE NEXT DAY INDICATED A CYLINDER ENGINE CODE, AND NOT TO WORRY AS IT WAS PROBABLY BAD GAS. THIS DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT SINCE THE CAR CORRECTED ITSELF WITH A RESTART AND NO CHANGE TO THE GAS. *JS

THERE ARE 2 PROBLEMS I AM EXPERIENCING WITH MY 1 YR OLD TOYOTA 2013 SIENNA VAN - 1> RATTLING NOISE COMING FRM BACK OF 2ND ROW OR 3RD SEAT - VERY HARD TO PINPOINT SOURCE, TOOK IT TO MY DEALER FOR 25K SVC, EXPLAINED, WAS NOTIFIED THEY WILL RUN THIS CHECK ON MY 30K MILEAGE SVC AS VAN NEEDS TO BE LEFT FOR 3 TO 4 HRS WITH THEM. THERE ARE A LOT OF INTERNET BLOGS AND POSTINGS ON THIS ISSUE, WITH SOME GETTING TOYOTA TO REPLACE 2ND OR 3RD SEATING COMPLETELY WITH A BRAND NEW SEAT AND THUS MAKING NOISE DISAPPEAR 2> WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, WHINING NOISE IN THE BACKGROUND CAN BE HEARD AT VERY LO W SPEED AROUND 15-25 MPH OR EVEN LESS, VERY ANNOYING AND DISTURBING FOR ANY CAR DRIVER.I BELIEVE THAT IS MAY ALSO SIGNIFY AN UNDERLYING PROBLEM, WAITING TO GET OUT OF CONTROL. WITH A RANGE OF MOVING PARTS WORKING IN TANDEM, IT IS DIFFICULT TO FIGURE OUT THE SOURCE OF SUCH ABNORMAL CAR SOUNDS. HOWEVER, ONE THING YOU CAN BE SURE OF, IS THAT THE NOISE, IN THIS CASE, IS CREATED DUE TO SOME PROBLEM IN THE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY ITSELF. THE LIKELY CANDIDATES ARE THE POWER STEERING PUMP, PULLEY, OR THE BELT. I BELIEVE - TOYOTA AGAIN IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE - AS THERE ARE NUMEROUS BLOGS AND POSTINGS ON THIS ISSUE AS WELL, THEY SHOULD COME OUT CLEAN AND MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS ASAP PRIOR AN INJURY OR FATALITY HAPPENS AGAIN. WITH ALL THE RE-CALLS TOYOTA HAS BEEN ISSUING I URGE NHTSA TO QUICKLY ACT ON IT - PRIOR NEW LAWSUITS OR DEATH OCCURS. THE TRAC OFF AND ENGINE FAULT LIGHT SWITCHED ON AND THE VAN COULDN'T GO BEYOND A MAXIMUM SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 20 OR 30 MPH. I WAS SHOCKED AND STUNNED AND COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS JUST HAPPENING AND HOW TO GET THE VAN TO A SIDE PATH AMID PASSING VEHICLES AT 60 TO 70 MPH BECAUSE THAT ROAD LEAD TO TOLL WAY ENTRANCE. FINALLY, AFTER LONG WAIT WITH A SHAKY HEART, I COULD MOVE THE VAN TO RIGHT LANE @ < 30 MPH AND STOPPED NEAR A RIGHT TURN. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND INSPECTED TYRE PRESSURE . IT WAS NORMAL. RESTARTED VEHICLE AND DID A TEST DRIVE ON NORMAL ROAD - EVERY THING SEEMED NORMAL. MY VEHICLE HAD AN ERROR CODE AND I FOUND AN EXACTLY SAME COMPLAINT IN INTERNET DATED BACK TO 2008. DEMANDED AN EXPLANATION FROM ASKTOYOTA AND THEY WERE DISMISSIVE ABOUT THE INTERNET REFERENCE AND ADVISED ME TO CONTACT DEALER. MY VAN IS WITH THEM SINCE LAST 4 DAYS AND STILL DON'T HAVE A STATUS. WHY THIS IS A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH ? 1. UNINTENDED SLOW DOWN TO MAXIMUM SPEED OF < 30 AND RANDOM OCCURRENCE OF THIS INCIDENT. IMAGINE, I AM JUST ENTERING THE TOLLWAY AT A MAXIMUM SPEED OF 30 OR I AM IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A HIGHWAY AT SPEED OF 30MPH THIS IS SUDDEN DEATH CASE AND I DON'T THINK TOYOTA WILL ADMIT THIS UNLESS YOU GET INVOLVED. WHY THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW ? AT NO TIME - MACHINE SHOULD OVERRIDE MECHANICAL GAS PEDAL. *TR
