Internal Fault of fuel pump assembly. With NO prior warnings of messages or warning lights from the dash, nor any poor performance issues of starting or running of the engine the fuel pump failed all at once while driving on an expressway at 65 mph and the engine shut down leaving me without any control of my vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who confirmed that the fuel pump had an internal failure and the vehicle is disabled. No Recall has been issues by Toyota for this model year. An extremely dangerous situation that Toyota is not properly addressing.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 TOYOTA VENZA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE HAD IMPACTED INTO THE CONTACTS VEHICLE ON THE DRIVER SIDE; NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT STATED MULTIPLE INJURIES (THE CONTACT WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THEIR VEHICLE). THE CONTACT WOKE UP IN THE HOSPITAL WHILE RECEIVING MEDICAL CARE FOR HEADACHES, BRUISING ON THE LEFT ARM, LOWER BACK BRUISING AND BRUISING ON THE CHEST WHICH RESULTED IN INTERNAL BLEEDING. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO INSURANCE LOT WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH BEING DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,000.
THE AIRBAG WARNING SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON IN DEC 2019. I PURCHASED A DTC READER BLUE DRIVER) AND SCANNED THE VEHICLE. AIRBAG CODE B1698 REGISTERED. I SWITCHED LEFT DOOR SENSOR WITH THE RIGHT DOOR SENSOR AND STILL THE LEFT DOOR SENSOR CODE REMAINED. I DISMANTLED THE CENTER CONSOLE, LEFT AND RIGHT DOOR PANELS, ETC. BUT COULD NOT RESOLVE THE MALFUNCTION CODE. I FINALLY GAVE UP AND HAVE DRIVEN WITHOUT AN ACTIVE AIRBAG SYSTEM. I'M FILING THIS COMPLAINT IN SUPPORT OF YOUR RECALL FOR THE TOYOTA VENZA AIRBAG WIRING.
ERROR MESSAGE: CHECK SRS AIRBAG SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 50 MPH. TOOK CAR TO MY MECHANIC WHO HOOKED IT TO THE COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. HE SAID THIS WAS THE 2ND TIME THE LIGHT CAME ON (FIRST TIME FOR ME SINCE AUGUST 2014) PER THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE HISTORY. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP 1/23/2021
TURNED ON ENGINE WENT TO PUSH UP THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR IT WOULD NOT CLICK INTO PLACE I TRIED AGAIN AND THE VISOR JUST DROPPED AND WOULD NOT GO UP AGAIN. IT APPEARS THAT THE MECHANISM TO HOLD THE VISOR UP IS PULLING THE FABRIC OUT FROM UNDER THE MIRROR TOO. THIS HAPPENED 8/27/2020. THERE IS NO REASON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN SINCE THIS CAR IS CARED FOR BY THE ORIGINAL OWNER.
THIS CAR HAS 166000 MILES ON IT AND ALWAYS HAD A DEALER OIL CHANGES. IT NOW IS USING A QUART OFF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES OR LESS. THERE ARE NO OIL LEAKS TO BE FOUND AND THE DEALER ADMITS THAT THAT IS TO MUCH OIL CONSUMPTION BUT CANNOT HELP ME WITH ANY KIND OF FACTORY REPAIRS. FOR A MODERN ENGINE THIS IS WAY TO MUCH OIL USE. I HAVE A 1990 TOYOTA CAMRY WITH 522000 MILES AND USES LESS THAN 1/2 A QUART BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. TOYOTA HAS REALLY GONE DOWN HILL ON THIS ENGINE DESIGN.
I HAVE TO ADD ONE QUART OF OIL EVERY 1200 MILES. DEALER STATES THIS IS NORMAL
BOUGHT THE CAR USED, THE VERY FIRST DAY AFTER PURCHASE THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT BRAKE AREA. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR ANYTHING ELSE WEIRD, JUST SMOKE. NOW, ABOUT A MONTH LATER, THE BRAKES SOMETIMES FEEL AS IF THEY'RE LOCKING UP AND NOT LETTING GO, BUT ALSO NOT STOPPING THE VEHICLE PROPERLY. SMOKE IS ALSO COMING OUT OF THE FRONT BRAKE AREA AGAIN. SEEING AS THIS IS 2019 AND IT'S A 2013 CAR, THERE IS NO WARRANTY LEFT ON THE CAR. I'VE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND SOME INFORMATION ABOUT AN INTERNAL LEAK INSIDE THE MASTER CYLINDER. A PROBLEM THAT IS HARD TO REPLICATE FOR A DEALERSHIP, WARRANTY OR NOT. DECIDED TO LOOK FOR RECALL INFO ABOUT THE BRAKES FOR THIS CAR WHEN I CHOSE TO MAKE A COMPLAINT TO THE NHTSA. I WILL ALSO NOTIFY TOYOTA ABOUT THE PROBLEM. I'M HOPING THAT BY REPLACING THE MASTER CYLINDER, THE PROBLEM WILL BE SOLVED.
I CURRENTLY DRIVE A 2013 VENZA, UPON ACCELERATION THE TRANSMISSION STUTTERS. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE TOYOTA CAMRY WITH THE SAME EXACT ENGINE, BUT NOT ON THE VENZA. I AM ALSO WRITING TOYOTA ABOUT THIS ISSUE. IT IS JUST GETTING WORSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA VENZA. UPON ENTERING THE VEHICLE, WATER WAS DISCOVERED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FLOORMAT. THE CONTACT HEARD WATER SWISHING AROUND UNDERNEATH THE DASHBOARD. IN ADDITION, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER (BREDEMANN TOYOTA, 1301 W DEMPSTER ST, PARK RIDGE, IL 60068, (847) 655-1435) ADVISED THE CONTACT TO SCHEDULE A DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR APPOINTMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE EPS (ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING) WARNING LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. THE NAVIGATION SCREEN GOES BLANK AND THE SATELLITE RADIO TURNS OFF AND THEN IT STARTS BACK UP. IT HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN ONE DAY.
PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN JANUARY 2014 AND WITH LESS THAN 40K MILES THE DOOR ACTUATOR ALREADY FAILED (DRIVER DOOR AND REAR DOOR PASSENGER SIDE). I JUST GOT IT FIXED AND TOYOTA DID NOT CHARGE ME FOR THE PARTS BUT I WAS CHARGED FOR THE DIAGNOSTICS AND THE LABOR. NOW ANOTHER DOOR ACTUATOR FAILED (PASSENGER SIDE FRONT DOOR). I COULDN'T SEE ANY RECALLS ABOUT THE DOOR ACTUATOR BUT HAVING 3 OF THEM FAILED IS JUST NOT NORMAL. I'M NOT SURE IF I'M THE ONLY ONE HAVING PROBLEMS LIKE THIS.
WHILE DRIVING ON A WET 50 DEGREE NIGHT IN JANUARY 12 T AND LOST TOTAL VISABILITY WHEN ENTERING LYNDON VERMON GOING AROUND 20 MPH AND RAN INTO A TELEPHONE POLE AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MY HUSBAND, THE DRIVER, SUSTAINED SERIOUS INJURIES INCLUDING A BROKEN STERNUM AND 5 BROKEN RIBS AND CONSIDERABLE INTERNAL BLEEDING. THE POLICE SAID THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND WHEN I MADE A TURN THE STEERING COLUMN BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN AND IT FELT TIGHT.
ON HWY VEHICLE WOULDN'T STOP OR STEER, LOST ALL POWER AND CONTROL. CAME TO STOP IN THE MEDIAN, HAD TO HAVE TOWED, CAUSE IS LISTED AS :173600410, C1201, C1241, C1441 TOYOTA OF IRVING CALLED TO INFORM ME THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND THAT THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
THE PANARAMIC SUN/MOON ROOF HAS COMPREHENSIVE ISSUES WITH REGARD TO STABILITY AND SAFETY. WHEN DRIVING OVER AN UNEVEN SURFACE, SPEEDBUMP, OR OTHER NON-SMOOTH SURFACE, THERE IS A LOUD AND JARRING POP FROM THE OVERHEAD ROOF AREA OF THE CAR WHERE THE PANARAMIC SUN/MOON ROOF IS INSTALLED. IT IS CONCERNING AND SOUNDS AS IF IT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO SHATTER OR IMPLODE ONTO PASSENGERS INSIDE THE VEHICLE. I INQUIRED ABOUT THIS AT OXMOOR TOYOTA IN LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY ASKING THAT IT BE REPLACED SINCE MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE WAS CERTIFIED AND CAME WITH A BUMPER-TO-BUMPER WARRANTY AND THEY REFUSED, SAYING IT WASN'T COVERED AND SUGGESTED I FILE A TSB.
GLASS ROOF EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING AND WITHOUT BEING STRUCK BY ANY OBJECTS. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A CLEAR DAY ON THE INTERSTATE AND I BEGAN TO HEAR GLASS CRUMBLING AND FALLING INSIDE THE VEHICLES ROOF VISOR.
VEHICLE EXCEL BY IT SELF, SOMETIME THE CAR WOULD T SPEED UP ON ITS OWN,STANDING AND DRIVING
ON 03-27-2017 APPROXIMATELY 2:15P I WAS TRAVELING 60 MPH SOUTH ON I94/I43 IN MY 2013 TOYOTA VENZA XLE JUST SOUTH OF THE BECHER/LAPHAM AVE EXIT IN MY WHEN I HEARD THIS LOUD EXPLOSION WHICH RESEMBLED A GUNSHOT SOUND AT THE SAME TIME FLYING GLASS COMING FROM OVER MY HEAD. MY SUNROOF IMPLODED ON TOP OF ME AND THERE WAS SHATTERED GLASS INSIDE AND OUTSIDE FLYING BEHIND ME AS I LOOKED INSIDE MY REAR VIEW MIRROR. I THOUGH I WAS SHOT AT OR EVEN A ROCK WAS THROWN. I DROVE TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT HE HAS NEVER HEARD OR SEEN THIS WITH ANY TOYOTAS. I CALLED THE MILWAUKEE COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE TO INVESTIGATE THE INCIDENT AND TAKE A REPORT FOR MY INSURANCE. THERE WAS NO ROCKS OR BULLETS FOUND IN OR AROUND THE SUNROOF TO HAVE CAUSED THE SHATTERING OF BOTH SECTIONS OF GLASS. ON 03-28-2017, I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM (WILD TOYOTA HALES CORNERS WI) AND WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT I SHOULD CONTACT HEADQUARTERS. I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS 2K MILES OVER THE WARRANTY THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT BUT I WOULD GET A CALL FROM THE REGIONAL TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE AND THEY WOULD TRY TO WORK WITH ME?? I GOOGLED TOYOTA EXPLODING SUNROOFS AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH NOT JUST TOYOTA BUT MANY CAR MANUFACTURERS.. AT POINT DOES THE GOVERNMENT GET INVOLVED AND SHUT DOWN THE MAKER OF THESES SUNROOFS. I COULD HAVE KILLED MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE WITH THIS INCIDENT AND FOR THE MANUFACTURER TO DISMISS THIS AS A WARRANTY ISSUE AND NOT A SAFETY CONCERN IS RIDICULOUS!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 TOYOTA VENZA. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT FAILED TO RESPOND WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISES TO THE RIGHT LEG AND CHEST AREA THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,112. UPDATED 05/16/17*LJ UPDATED 12/04/2017*JS
THE VEHICLE HAD 5900 MILES WHEN A LOUD SCREECHING STARTED COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE. THE BRAKE WORE UNEVENLY AND DAMAGED THE ROTOR. TOYOTA DID NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT.
WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT, WHEN APPROACHING A PARKING STALL AND PREPARING TO STOP, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FORWARD CAUSING US TO REAR END A VEHICLE AHEAD, WHICH HAD ALREADY PARKED, UNOCCUPIED AND WAS PULLED THROUGH THEIR PARKING STALL. THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION WAS SUCH A SURPRISE WITH LITTLE TIME TO REACT. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS INJURED AND THERE WAS MINIMAL DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLES. THE ACCELERATION WAS RAPID AND INTENSE AND THE ONLY WAY I CAN DESCRIBE IT IS TO COMPARE IT TO IF SOMEONE HAD THEIR FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE OTHER FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR AND QUICKLY RELEASED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE POLICE RESPONDED, BUT DID NOT FILE A REPORT. THE TOYOTA CAR DEALER WILL NOT EVALUATE OR RESPOND TO LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE, BUT PROVIDE AN 800 NUMBER TO REPORT THE INCIDENT TO TOYOTA. THEY SAY THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE FOR AN ACCELERATION PROBLEM. BASED UPON OUR INCIDENT AND OTHER REPORTS FILED WITH NHTSA, WE DON'T CONSIDER THE VENZA A SAFE VEHICLE TO DRIVE AND PROBABLY SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE HIGHWAYS. WE WILL BE PURCHASING A DIFFERENT VEHICLE, PROBABLY FROM A DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER.
I WAS DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION ON A GREEN LIGHT AND WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER CAR RUNNING A RED LIGHT. DAMAGING THE FRONT AND BOTH SIDES OF MY CAR. I HAVE INJURIES AND MY CAR WAS TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNING I NOTICED A MILDEW TYPE ODOR COMING THROUGH THE VENT SYSTEM WHEN I CUT ON THE HEAT. I REPORTED DURING SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THE FILTER WOULD BE CHANGED AND SOME TYPE OF ODOR REDUCER PLACED IN THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. IT'S WINTER AGAIN AND THE ODOR IS SO BAD THAT I AM GETTING CAR SICK WHENEVER THE HEAT IS ON, WHETHER DRIVING OR STATIONARY. I SEARCHED THE WEB AND THERE ARE MANY INSTANCES OF THIS ISSUE WITH TOYOTA VEHICLES. IS THERE ANY RECALLS IN PLACE FOR THIS, I WILL BE GOING TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND WILL FOLLOW UP WITH THIS COMPLAINT. BASED ON OTHER INTERNET COMPLAINTS, THIS MAY BE MOLD BUILD UP.
MY WIFE WAS PARKING THE CAR WHEN THERE WAS A SUDDEN LURCH FORWARD (UINTENDED ACCELERATION). SHE HIT A POLE WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE FRONT BUMPER. THIS TYPE OF INCIDENT HAPPENED TO ME 2 WEEKS EARLIER WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT OCCURRING BUT I DID NOT THINK ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WILL NOT LOOK AT THE CAR. I WANT THEM TO PERFORM A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THEY TOLD ME TO CALL CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS WHICH I DID AND GOT A CASE # 1509152873.
I WAS ON THE FREEWAY ALL OF SUDDEN TRAFFIC STOOPED , I HIT THE BRAKES NO ABS THE TRACTION LITE CAME ON CAR WENT TO NEUTRAL . I HAD AN IMPACT AT 20.1 MPH ACCORDING TO TOYOTAS BLACK BOX. THE FRONT END WAS DAMAGED IN THE TUNE OF $8300.00 TORE THE FRONT BUMPER OFF SEVERE FRAME DAMAGE ALL IN THE AREA OF THE AIR BAG SENSOR THAT WAS TORE OFF. COME TO FIND OUT AFTER THE ACCIDENT THEIR WAS AN AIR BAG RECALL WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS FIXED BY A BODY SHOP RECOMMENDED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT NEVER CHECKED OUT THE SYSTEM, I TOOK IT IN FOR THE RECALL THEY DID NOT PERFORM AS PER THEIR SUPPLEMENTAL DOCUMENTS FROM YOUR WEB SITE. NOW I HAVE NERVE DAMAGE AND TENDENTIOUS AS I BRACED MYSELF AND BENT THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE ASKED AND ASKED FOR HELP FROM TOYOTA THEY TOLD ME THE IMPACT WAS NOT SEVERE ENOUGH . MY UNDERSTANDING IS THE AIR BAGS DEPLOY AT A 10 TO 15 MPH IMPACT I HIT AT 20 PLUS . THEIR IS A MAJOR FLAW ON THE TRACTION SYSTEM THE LITE COMES ON WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKE , I WAS TOLD THAT MY FOOT WAS TO BIG AND I PUSH THE BRAKE TO HARD AND I SHOULD NOT OF BOUGHT THE CAR. EDMUND'S WEB SITE HAS HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS OF CARS ACTING THE SAME WAY AND SOME PEOPLE HAVE THEIR CARS STALL IN INTERSECTIONS . BOTTOM LINE WITH THIS ISSUE SOMEONE IS OR HAS GOING TO BE KILLED UNLESS THEIR IS A RECALL OR INVESTIGATION. WHILE APPLYING PRESSURE TO MY BRAKES TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN (~ 30MPH), MY BRAKES STARTED TO GRIND AND MY ABS, VSC AND EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FREQUENTLY OVER THE PAST MONTH OR SO AT VARIOUS TIMES (WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, BRAKING, JUST DRIVING, ETC) AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. I'VE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE STEERING BECOMES TIGHT. I HAVE NOT LOST CONTROL OF MY CAR. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY BRAKING SYSTEM. I'VE BROUGHT IT IN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT, HOWEVER, I WAS TOLD THAT THE CODES COULDN'T BE READ SO THEY HAD NO PLAN TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM.
WHILE COMING TO A STOP AFTER DROPPING OFF MY DAUGHTER THE BRAKES STARTED MAKING A LOUD CLICKING NOISE. LATER WHILE COMING TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT THE BRAKES ACTED LIKE THEY DID NOT WANT TO STOP AND AS I PRESSED AS HARD AS I COULD THE BRAKES LOCKED AND THE CAR SLID INTO THE BACK OF A TRUCK STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT.
AUTOMATIC REAR HATCHBACK POWER DOOR, CLOSED UN-COMMANDED, PINNING AND CRUSHING MIDDLE 3 FINGERS OF BOTH HANDS BETWEEN BOTTOM EDGE OF DOOR AND CAR BODY/BUMPER. ACTIVATING OPENING SWITCHES ONLY CYCLED DOOR TO AUTO CLOSE - SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASING THE AUTOMATIC SYSTEM PRESSURE AND RESULTANT PAIN. ONLY ABLE TO EXTRICATE FINGERS AFTER SECOND PERSON WAS ABLE TO ASSIST BY PRYING HATCHBACK DOOR WITH A GARDEN SHOVEL WHICH ALLOWED JUST ENOUGH RELIEF TO ALLOW PULLING FINGERS FREE. IF ALONE, I WOULD HAVE NEVER GOTTEN FREE - THE DAMAGE WOULD HAVE LIKELY BEEN AT LEAST THE LOSS OF MY MIDDLE FINGERS TO THE FIRST JOINT AND IF ALONE IN A REMOTE ENOUGH LOCATION THE RESULT WOULD HAVE BEEN DEATH. I REPEAT, BOTH HANDS WERE TRAPPED AND COULD NOT BE EXTRICATED WITHOUT SOMEONE ELSE'S ASSISTANCE. THE REAR HATCHBACK DOOR AUTOMATICALLY CLOSED, UN-COMMANDED AND COULD NOT BE OPENED BY ANY MEANS. THERE WAS NO EFFECTIVE SAFETY DEVICE TO PREVENT THE CLOSING SYSTEM FROM ENTRAPPING AND CRUSHING MY FINGERS. THERE WAS NO MECHANICAL OVERRIDE OR OPENING MECHANISM....UPDATED 05-27-15 *BF
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA VENZA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED THE VEHICLE INTO A CURB AND A FENCE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA VENZA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO RESPOND. THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN AND THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WHICH CAUSED THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT ARMS WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED AND REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS AFFECTED BY RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V442000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EQUIPMENT). THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE CRASHED WAS RELATED TO THE RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
THE ELECTRICAL STEERING WARNING LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. *TR
THE BELOW ISSUE WAS FIRST REPORTED TO THE APPROPRIATE TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVES AND TO NHTSA IN 9-2013. IT HAS OCCURRED 36 TIMES SINCE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW IN MAY 2013. AT THIS WRITING THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 6000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. INTERMITTENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING THE ELECTRONIC LINK BETWEEN THE GAS PEDAL AND THE ENGINE IS INOPERATIVE FOR 3-5 SECONDS. DURING THIS PERIOD THE CAR IS NOT UNDER POWER IT IS COASTING AND DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL HAS NO EFFECT ON ENGINE SPEED. AFTER THIS PERIOD THE ELECTRONIC LINK IS AUTOMATICALLY RESTORED AND THE ENGINE IS AGAIN RESPONSIVE TO PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL. *TR
WHILE COMING TO A STOP TO PARK WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE CAR SUDDENLY LUNGED FORWARD CRASHING INTO THE WIRE CABLES IN FRONT OF THE PARKING SPOT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA VENZA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING AND CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY A MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 100,000.
DIRECTLY ABOVE THE BRAKE PEDAL (UNDER THE DASH COVER) IS A VENT AND THE OBD CONNECTOR -- THEIR PROXIMITY IS TOO CLOSE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE POSITION OF THESE ITEMS IS A REAL SAFETY CONCERN, SINCE PEOPLE WITH LARGE FEET/SHOES WILL HIT THE VENT/CONNECTOR -- POSSIBLY PREVENTING THEM FROM APPLYING THE BRAKES IN A TIMELY FASHION, OR AT ALL. THE VENT AND CONNECTOR SHOULD BE MOVED TO THE LEFT SO THAT THERE IS NO IMPEDIMENT IN MOVING THE DRIVER'S FOOT FRM THE GAS TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. *TR
2013 TOYOTA VENZA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE HEAD REST. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE HEAD REST DID NOT REMAIN IN A SET POSITION, BUT EXTENDED ITSELF WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN. THE DEALER STATED IT WAS NORMAL. *JB
MY VENZA HAS A METRIC SPEEDOMETER WITH MPH NUMBERS PAINTED ON THE SAME FACE AS THE METRIC ONES THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT IN THE DAY TIME THE MPH NUMBERS ARE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO READ DUE TO THE PAINT RENDERING THEM TOO DULL . THIS IS A MAJOR DRIVING DISTRACTION DUE TO IT TAKING THE DRIVERS FOCUS OFF THE ROAD. MAYBE TOYOTA SHOULD GO TO A DIGITAL READOUT THAT CONVERTS THE DISPLAY TO SHOW ONLY MPH WHEN NEEDED . THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME TIME TO VENT... *TR
THE HEAD RESTRAINT OR HEAD REST IS POSITIONED SO THAT IT PUSHES MY HEAD FORWARD IN AN UNNATURAL ANGLE. IT APPLIES PRESSURE THAT CAUSES A SEVERE HEADACHE AFTER DRIVING 15 TO 20 MINUTES WITH MY HEAD PUSHED FORWARD SO FAR. THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENT OF THE HEAD RESTRAINT ANGLE WITH RESPECT TO THE ANGLE OF THE BACK SUPPORT TO CORRECT THE UNNATURAL ANGLE. THE DEALER WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM SAYING THAT THEY HAD CONTACTED THE INDIVIDUAL THEY DEAL WITH AT TOYOTA BALTIMORE AREA SALES WHO SAID: THAT IS THE WAY THE HEAD RESTRAINT IS DESIGNED AND THAT I BOUGHT THE CAR AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER SAID THAT THE HEAD REST COULD BE REVERSED WHICH WOULD ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM BUT THAT THEY COULD NOT TELL ME TO DO THIS BECAUSE THIS NEGATED THE CRASH TESTING DONE FOR GOVERNMENT APPROVALS. THEY INDICATED THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND HAD REVERSED THE HEAD RESTRAINT, BUT THAT THEY COULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS. HOWEVER WHEN THE HEAD REST IS REVERSED, THERE IS A LARGE GAP BETWEEN THE RESTRAINT AND MY HEAD THAT IS NOT SAFE IN THE EVENT OF A REAR END COLLISION. THE FACT THAT A NUMBER OF OTHER PEOPLE, HAVE REVERSED THE RESTRAINT IN STRONG EVIDENCE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA VEHICLES THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED.
TL -THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA VENZA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 13V442000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EQUIPMENT) HAD A EXCEEDED A REASONABLE TIME FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT A SMALL QUANTITY OF PARTS WERE PROVIDED AND THE VEHICLES THAT WERE PURCHASED AT THE DEALERSHIP WOULD BE REPAIRED FIRST; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WAS PLACED ON A WAITING LIST. RK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA VENZA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS EXCESSIVE RUST UNDER THE REAR PASSENGER SEATS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000. *TR
DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATION PEDAL HAS NO EFFECT ON ENGINE SPEED FOR UP TO 3 OR MORE SECONDS. THIS SITUATION HAS OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY TWELVE TIMES SINCE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW IN MAY 2013. IT NOW HAS 1200 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. CAR HAS BEEN RETURNED TO THE DEALER TWICE FOR THIS REASON WITHOUT RESULT. THE LAST DEALER VISIT IN SEPTEMBER 2013, I WAS ADVISED THE "DRIVE BY WIRE" SYSTEM WAS OPERATING TO SPECIFICATION AND THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM PRESENTLY. FURTHER, IT IS A PROBLEM COMMON TO THE VENZA MODEL AS WELL AS CERTAIN OTHER TOYOTA MODELS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA VENZA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, HE NOTICED A STRONG FLOW OF AIR EMITTING THROUGH THE REAR LIFTGATE DOOR SEAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PLANNED TO FURTHER INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA VENZA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE MANUALLY CLOSING THE REAR LIFTGATE, THE AUTOMATIC POWER FEATURE ACTIVATED AND INDEPENDENTLY CLOSED ON HIS LEFT MIDDLE FINGER. THE CONTACT SOUGHT MEDICAL ATTENTION AND HAD TO RECEIVE STITCHES TO THE FINGER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,900. *TR
DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE WITH MOON ROOF/SUN ROOF OPEN, THE MOON ROOF/SUN ROOF SHATTERED INTO A GAZILLION PIECES. THERE WAS NO SOUND OF A ROCK OR OTHER PROJECTILE HITTING THE MOON ROOF/SUN ROOF. IT JUST RAINED GLASS DOWN ON US WITHOUT WARNING. LUCKILY MY HUSBAND WAS WEARING A BALL CAP THAT PROTECTED HIS EYES, BUT IT COULD HAVE BLINDED SOMEONE AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I CUT STAINED GLASS SO AM FAMILIAR WITH HOW GLASS BREAKS. I BELIEVE THE PANORAMIC MOON ROOF/SUN ROOF IS A DESIGN DEFECT, WHICH RESULTED IN A STRESS FRACTURE. I HAVE PICTURES THAT CLEARLY SHOW BOTH SIDES OF THE MOON/SUN ROOF TORE SIMULTANEOUSLY. ALL THIS FROM AN ALLEGED "ROCK". I DON'T THINK SO. *TR

2013 TOYOTA VENZA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FINGERS BEING CRUSHED IN REAR HATCH INCIDENT. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE AND HIS WIFE WERE LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE. WHEN HIS WIFE USED BOTH HANDS TO SLOWLY CLOSE THE HATCH, THE AUTOMATED FEATURE GRABBED THE HATCH BRINGING IT TO FULL CLOSURE ON HIS WIFE'S FINGERS.
