In addition, the cruise control was inoperable. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 VOLKSWAGEN CC. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR OF HER VEHICLE AT A SPEED OF BETWEEN 55-70 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONLY THE STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG DEPLOYED. NONE OF THE SIDE IMPACT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE IMPACT OF THE CRASH CAUSED THE GEAR SHIFT, DASHBOARD, AND BATTERY COMPARTMENTS OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE TO CRUMBLE INWARD AND BREAK APART. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S RIGHT LEG AND HIP WERE PINNED DOWN. THE CONTACT STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD AND SUFFERED A DISLOCATED KNEE CAP, PELVIS FRACTURES IN THREE PLACES, FOUR BROKEN RIBS, NINE STITCHES TO THE FOREHEAD, CUTS AND BRUISES ON BOTH ARMS, TWO SEIZURES, AND A BURN TO THE FACE DUE TO THE STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG. THE OTHER DRIVER SUFFERED HEAD INJURIES. THE CONTACT WAS HOSPITALIZED FOR FIVE DAYS. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY TO THEIR LOCATION FOR INVESTIGATION. FINDLAY VOLKSWAGEN (983 AUTO SHOW DR, HENDERSON, NV 89014, (702) 558-6600) WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. REGARDING THE ONGOING INVESTIAGTION FOR FAILED REPLACEMENT OF THE CLOCK SPRING RECALL. (NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA18003). TWO WEEKS AGO, WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING SPOT MY STEERING WHEEL MADE A DISCERNING CLICKING SOUND. AFTER RETURNING TO MY CAR I NOTICED AN AIRBAG ERROR AS WELL AS ALL CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL NOT FUNCTIONING INCLUDING THE HORN. SINCE THEN THESE PROBLEMS HAVE REMAINED. I HAVE CHECKING MY VIN TO SEE IF THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE CLOCK SPRING REPLACED FOR THE RECALL BUT THERE ARE NONE. I PRESUME THAT THE REPLACEMENT CLOCK SPRING IS FAULTY JUST LIKE THE ONE THAT WAS REPLACED.

THIS WAS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION WHILE OTHER DRIVERS WERE BLOWING AND YELLING AT ME FOR BLOCKING TRAFFIC. AFTER SITTING FOR ABOUT 7 TO 10 MINUTES THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DROVE NORMALLY.

TAKATA INFLATORS. I WENT AND GOT MY FUEL PUMP RECALL COMPLETED MONTHS AGO AND MY LOCAL DEALER DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS TO COMPLETE THE AIRBAG RECALL. THEY SAID IT TAKES ABOUT A MONTH OR TWO TO RECEIVE THE PART AND IT HAS BEEN MUCH LONGER THAN THAT AND THEY STILL AREN'T ABLE TO COMPLETE THE RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS RECENTLY COME ON AND I SAW THAT THERE IS ALSO A RECALL FOR A CLOCK SPRING. I GOT MY CAR CHECKED BY A MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD I WOULD NEED A CLOCK SPRING REPLACEMENT. I NOTIFIED VOLKSWAGEN OF THIS AND WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS NOT APART OF THE RECALL BUT HOW CAN THAT BE WHEN THE EFFECTED MODELS ARE VOLKSWAGEN CC 2011-2014. THEY ARE REFUSING TO MAKE REPAIRS ON MY VEHICLE. I AM 8 MONTHS PREGNANT AND FEEL VERY UNSAFE ON MY COMMUTE TO AND FROM WORK. MY LOCAL DEALER IS UNRELIABLE AS THEY ARE NEVER ABLE TO COMPLETE REPAIRS. WHEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON, I WAS TURNING INTO A RESTAURANT AND HEARD A CLICKING SOUND AND THE LIGHT CAME ON. MY HORN NO LONGER WORKS NOR DO THE BUTTONS ON MY STEERING WHEEL.

DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING ABNORMAL NOISE (TICKING). CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND LET THEM KNOW I WAS BRINGING IT IN TO BE CHECKED OUT. ON THE WAY THERE THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING AND I PULLED OVER AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. SEVERAL DAYS LATER DEALERSHIP CALLED AND TOLD ME THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE AND CATASTROPHICLY DESTROYED THE ENGINE. PURCHASED THE VEHICLE CERTIFIED USED WITH 25,578 MILES. AT THE TIME OF THE ENGINE FAILURE IT HAD 62,569 MILES. THE TIMING CHAIN THAT DESTROYED THE ENGINE PREMATURELY FAILED. I HEARD ABOUT A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT IN NEW JERSEY FOR THIS PROBLEM AND IT APPEARED MY MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE WAS IN THE GROUP TO BE REIMBURSED FOR DAMAGES. WITH NO OTHER OPTIONS I HAD TO TAKE MONEY FROM MY RETIREMENT SAVINGS AND REPLACE THE ENGINE. AFTER ABOUT ONE MONTH I RECEIVED A TEXT FROM THE DEALERSHIP SAYING THEY HAD BAD NEWS. APPARENTLY AFTER REPLACING THE ENGINE, THEY STARTED THE CAR AND IN TWO MINUTES THEY HEARD AN ABNORMAL KNOCK COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND TOLD ME THAT THE NEW ENGINE WAS GOING TO NEED TO BE REPLACED. NOW I JUST FOUND OUT THAT MY YEAR VEHICLE 2013 CC VW IS NOT PART OF THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. ALL THE EXACT ISSUES I HAVE BEEN READING ABOUT HAVE HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE. OBVIOUSLY THIS DEFECT IS NOT LIMITED TO ONLY THE VEHICLES IN THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AND PAID EXTRA FOR IT BECAUSE IT WAS CERTIFIED USED. I NEEDED A VERY RELIABLE COMMUTE VEHICLE TO GET TO WORK AND BACK HOME SAFELY. AFTER THE DEALERSHIP HAVING MY CAR FOR OVER TWO MONTHS, I WAS DRIVING A COUPLE DAYS LATER AND THE CAR HESITATED AT A STOP AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME ONE OF THE FUEL INJECTORS WAS "ACTING UP". VWOF A KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THE TIMING CHAIN. NOW I HAVE TO GIVE THEM MORE MONEY!!!

OUR LOCAL DEALER HAS BLAMED VW CORPORATE THE ENTIRE WAY. WE ARE GOING ON VACATION JULY 14TH-21ST 2018 AND REACHED OUT TO VW CORPORATE FOR HELP IN THE WAY OF A LOANER VEHICLE. AFTER AN HOUR AND A HALF ON HOLD, THEY HAVE NOT COME UP WITH ANY SUITABLE OPTIONS. THEY ARE REFUSING A RENTAL CAR AND CAN NOT GUARANTEE THAT OUR CAR WILL BE FIXED BEFORE WE LEAVE. WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR AND WE'VE BEEN DRIVING IT DAILY BECAUSE WE HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE. OUR CHILDREN WILL BE IN THIS CARD DURING VACATION AND VW DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE.

THE DEALERSHIP TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT THEY RECORDED SEVERAL PISTON MISFIRES, BUT AFTER RESETTING THE COMPUTER, THE FAULTS NEVER CAME BACK. THEIR INTERNAL POLICY REQUIRED THE FAULT TO BE PRESENT FOR THE COMPANY TO COMPLY TO REPLACE FAULTY PARTS, EVEN WHEN THEY HAD THE RECORDS. THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT HELP ME, AND ADVISED TO TAKE THE CAR AND DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I LIVED. I DID SO, AND I GOT THE SAME RESPONSE FROM MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT HELP ME DUE TO INTERNAL POLICIES, AND THAT I SHOULD DRIVE THE CAR AS IS, UNTIL THE ISSUE CAME UP AGAIN. IN THE EVENT OF AN INFLATOR RUPTURE, METAL FRAGMENTS COULD PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAG CUSHION MATERIAL, WHICH MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS." WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD OR WHILE STATIONARY AT A RED LIGHT, ALL THE SUDDEN WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR WOULD BEGIN JERKING AND THE ENGINE WOULD JUST REV UP AS IF THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL POSITION UNTIL EVENTUALLY SHUTTING OFF AND PARKING AND ENGINE INDICATOR LIGHTS WOULD TURN ON. IF I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT IN DRIVE POSITION, THE PARKING LIGHT WOULD SUDDENLY TURN ON AND I WOULD HAVE NO MOBILITY OF THE VEHICLE. THE CAR WOULD STILL BE ON, BUT WOULD NOT MOVE. I WOULD HAVE TO POSITION IT IN PARK, RESTART THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD JUMP START BEFORE THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER, I WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE MECHATRONIC UNIT, WHICH IS BASICALLY THE COMPUTER THAT CONTROLS THE TRANSMISSION. REPLACEMENT COSTS WERE $1800. THEY WERE GENERALLY UNSURE OF WHY A NEW VEHICLE WOULD HAVE THESE ISSUES, MENTIONING IT MAY HAVE BEEN WATER DAMAGE FROM STREET FLOODING OR MOISTURE GETTING INTO THE UNIT. EITHER WAY I FEEL IN A BRAND NEW CAR, THESE ISSUES SHOULD NOT BE OCCURRING AND ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND THEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUTS OFF.

I ADVISED THAT I HAVE A PREGNANT WIFE, AND NEED A TEMPORARY SOLUTION. THEY STATED THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BASED ON THE CORPORATE POLICY THAT HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED BY VW. THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 15000 MILES ON THE TIRES WHEN THE PROBLEM BEGAN. THE ROAD NOISE GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND EVENTUALLY TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO CUPPING OF THE TIRES AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE TIRES AND GET A REALIGNMENT. THE CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED ON A REGULAR BASIS THROUGH THE DEALER AND THE DEALER DID NOT MENTION ANY ISSUES WITH ALIGNMENT DURING THE SERVICES. OTHER OWNERS HAD PROVIDED SIMILAR ISSUES ON THE INTERNET AND THAT THE ISSUE HAD NOT RESOLVED AFTER BOTH NEW TIRES AND REALIGNMENT IN MANY CASES. THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO BAD ALIGNMENT OR BALL JOINTS IN THE SUSPENSION WITH THE VEHICLE. I BOUGHT A NEW VW CC THAT IS A 2.0T AND HAS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. BEFORE BUYING AND JUST TEST DRIVING THE CAR, THE CAR DROVE JUST FINE. THE ISSUE IS THAT AFTER THE CAR WARMS UP FOR A WHILE, THE RPMS WILL HANG FOR A FEW SECONDS AFTER YOU LET OFF THE GAS. THIS CAUSES MANY SAFETY ISSUES AND I HAVE NOW FOUND OUT THAT ALL VW CARS MADE IN 2013 WITH THE 2.0T ENGINE HAVE THIS ISSUE. I ALMOST CRASHED THE CAR DUE TO THIS ISSUE A COUPLE WEEKS AGO WHEN IN SLOW STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. NOT ONLY IS THE REV HANG IS WEARING OUT CLUTCHES PREMATURELY AND MAKES THESE CARS VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE, IT IS ALSO A SAFETY CONCERN SINCE THE ENGINE KEEPS THE THROTTLE OPEN FOR A FEW SECONDS AFTER WE LET OFF OF THE GAS. THE CAR JUST DRIVES ON ITS OWN LIKE IT HAS CRUISE CONTROL ON FOR A FEW SECONDS!!! IF YOU ARE DRIVING THE CAR IN THE SNOW AND THE WHEELS ARE SPINNING AND LOSING TRACTION, THEY WILL CONTINUE TO SPIN FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME AFTER YOU LET GO OF THE GAS WHICH CAN CAUSE YOU TO CRASH. GOOGLE "VW REV HANG" MY CAR HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER A FEW TIMES FOR THIS AND THEY CLAIM THAT NO ISSUE WAS FOUND. I THEN TEST DROVE OTHER 2013 VW CARS WITH THIS ENGINE AND FOUND THAT ALL OF THE CARS I DROVE HAVE THE RPM HANG ISSUE. I HAVE OWNED 7 CARS WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS IN THE PAST AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANY OTHER CAR DO THIS. I STILL HAVE MY 2006 VW 2.0T CAR WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND THAT CAR DRIVES JUST FINE. PLEASE LOOK IN TO THIS ISSUE AND UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT AFFECTS ALL 2013 VW CARS WITH 2.0T ENGINES THAT ARE SOLD IN THE US WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS. THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHOWING SIGNS OF MALFUNCTION IN AUGUST OF 2012 (VEHICLE WAS LEASED THE END OF JUNE) WHEN IT WOULD TAKE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START THE VEHICLE AND ONCE STARTED THE VEHICLE WOULD OCCASIONAL CUT OFF OR RUN REALLY ROUGH FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES. THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ILLUMINATED FOR 2 DAYS. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT SERVICED AND AFTER 2 DAYS THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. RETURNED VEHICLE TO ME WITH NO RESOLUTION. CAR RAN FINE FOR 4 MONTHS THEN ON DECEMBER 17TH THE SAME ISSUES BEGAN TO OCCUR BUT MORE SEVERE THIS TIME. I WAS TRAVELING ON A RURAL HIGHWAY AT 45 MPH WHEN THE WHOLE CAR SHUT OFF LEAVING NO POWER, BRAKING OR STEERING CAPABILITIES. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE RIGHT BEHIND ME AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND EJECTED THE KEY. RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND LIMPED THE CAR BACK TO MY DRIVEWAY AS IT WOULD NOT GO OVER 30 MPH WITH THE PEDAL PUSHED TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE REMAINED IN SERVICE FOR 2 DAYS AND THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED IT AS A FUEL MODULE ISSUE, REPLACED THE MODULE AND RETURNED THE CAR. ON SATURDAY DECEMBER 22ND THE SAME ISSUES OCCURRED AGAIN. THE CAR WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A 3RD TIME AND REMAINED THERE FOR 22 DAYS AS THE MECHANICS COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE AGAIN. FINALLY THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A CRACK IN THE WIRING HARNESS AND VIBRATION WAS CAUSING THE WIRE TO TOUCH THE ENGINE AND STALL OUT. THE CRACK WAS FIXED WITH TAPE AND THE WIRE ROUTED AWAY FROM THE ENGINE. I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING THE CAR TO AND FROM WORK AS I TRAVEL ON VERY SUBURBAN ROADS TO GET THERE. I FOUND OUT VW HAS RE-DESIGNED THEIR BRAKES FOR A 'SOFT FEEL'. BUT THE BRAKES NOW TRAVEL ALMOST TO THE FLOOR WHEN SLOWLY PUSHED DOWN, AND YOU HAVE TO PUMP THE PEDAL TO GET A FEEL THAT THE BRAKES ARE TAKING EFFECT. IN FACT THE TRAVEL OF THE BRAKE PEDAL IS LOWER THAN THE LEVEL OF THE GAS PEDAL AND THIS IS WHERE THE SAFETY ISSUES COMES IN. BECAUSE OF THIS EXCESSIVE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL, I HAVE ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS FOUND MY FOOT PRESSING BOTH THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDALS AT THE SAME TIME. PARTICULARLY AT SLOW SPEEDS - LIKE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, OR COMING TO A SLOW STOP IN THE GARAGE. WHEN THAT HAPPENS, THE ENGINE STARTS TO REV UP AS THE BRAKES TRY TO STOP THE CAR - NEEDLESS TO SAY IT SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME. CHECKING THE VARIOUS CAR FORUM WEB SITES (EDMUNDS, KELLY, ETC.), I FOUND OUT I AM NOT ALONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. I'VE GONE BACK TO THE DEALER WHO BLED THE BRAKES AND DONE THE USUAL CHECKS AND SAID THE BRAKES WHERE 'UP TO SPEC'. BUT THE SERVICE MANAGER ADMITTED THAT THE NEW VW BRAKING SYSTEMS ARE "SOFT" AND IF YOU HAVE BIG FEET, YOU HAVE TO LEARN TO REPOSITION YOUR FOOT EACH TIME YOU WHAT TO USE THE BRAKES. HE ALSO SAID TO BE AWARE THAT THE LONG BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL MY "FEEL FUNNY" FOR A WHILE - LIKE THE CAR ISN'T GOING TO STOP . IF I HAVE TO REPOSITION MY FOOT EACH TIME TO BRAKE IN ORDER TO AVOID THE GAS PEDAL , I'LL END UP WRAPPING THE CAR AROUND A POLE !
