i purchased this car in 2014 and since then i keep bringing my car for repairs the dealer keep finding so many problems, every time i take it for service. this car has stalled on me few times, and i almost have an accident with my two grandbabies with me, supposedly the dealer fixed it but few months later it broke again with the same issues, they said it was still under the warranty and i didnt pay for that, but they charge of other problems. i told them from the beginning that this car was almost new when i bought it and ,its was not possible that since then, its been having too many problems, and they were the only one that has been taking care of the car. now iit has scaled, to even more and major issues. such as breaks, tires, alternator drive belt, break pads, fuel injection, , engine oil filter housing gaskets, parkin brake cable clip, brake fluid, differential fluid exchange, battery replace and much more,. and that is why i really need your help. i am very scare of the safety of my love ones, my self and others. the car it has been inspected by the same dealer, where i been taking it since i bought it, for maintenance and mechanical and other issues. my vehicle always have the message (symbol) of either engine, tire. it appears since 2014, it goes away after i have taking it to the dealer.

ON THE NIGHT OF OCTOBER 18 2020 AROUND 3:30AM I WAS WOKEN BY MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORS NOTIFYING ME THAT ME 2014 BMW WAS CURRENTLY ON FIRE IN A UNCONTROLLABLE BLAZE. FROM THE ENGINE BAY OF THE CAR DOWN TO MY FUEL TANK AND PUMPS WERE SHOOTING OUT FLAMES COVERING THE CAR ITSELF BY THE TIME I WAS ABLE TO RUN FROM MY ROOM TO MY CAR I CAN SEE THAT THE DAMAGE WAS DONE. I PROCEEDED TO CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND PUT OUT THE FIRE MYSELF WHILE I WAITED FOR THEM TO ARRIVE, I DID NOT DRIVE THE CAR FOR A TOTAL OF 8+ HOURS AND IT WAS SITTING AND PARKED IN FRONT OF MY DRIVE WAY. MY CAR SHOWED NO SIGNS OF CATCHING ON FIRE ON ITS OWN, IT JUST RANDOMLY CAUGHT ABLAZE, AFTER I PUT OUT THE FIRE AND TALKED WITH THE FIRE DEPARTMENT FROM FIRST GLANCE WE KNEW THIS WASN'T ARSON BUT A POSSIBLE ELECTRIC AND OR MALFUNCTION WITH THE CAR ITSELF. I CONTACTED MY INSURANCE COMPANY THE NEXT DAY AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED, THEY THEN PROCEEDED TO PICK UP THE CAR THE NEXT DAY VIA TOW TRUCK AND TOOK IT TO A PROFESSIONAL TO LOOK AT WHAT CAUSED IT, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE STARTED NEAR THE ENGINE BAY AND AS STATED BEFORE A MALFUNCTION WITH THE VEHICLE (SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION), IT WAS THEN LABELED A TOTAL LOSS AND MY INVESTMENT WAS GONE.

WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR ON THE ROADSIDE, THE STARTER TURNED OVER, BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. ACCORDINGLY ARRANGED TO HAVE MY 320I TOWED TO CLOSEBY AUTO SHOP (MATTHEWS AUTO REPAIR SHOP IN 725 EAST 106TH STREET, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46280), WHICH IS AUTO SHOP CLOSEBY ALMOST 40 YEARS SERVICE. ON OCT 31TH, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM A SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AT AUTO SHOP. HE TOLD ME THAT MY FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO QUALITY PROBLEM. HE SAID THAT HE CHECKED THAT MY CAR MODEL IS IN THE BMW RECALL LIST FOR FUEL PUMP BY RECALL #: 15V-189. HE SAID I SHOULD CONTACT BMW TO DO IT FREE FOR ME. I CONTACTED BMW CUSTOMER SERVICE IMMEDIATELY (BOTH BMW USA CUSTOMER RELATIONS AND LOCAL BMW DEALER), AND BOTH BMW SERVICE PEOPLE TOLD ME THAT NOT ALL THE CARS IN THIS CAR MODEL ARE IN RECALL LIST, AND MY CAR WAS NOT IN THE RECALL LIST. THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. I TOLD THEM THAT I WAS SURPRISED AND CONCERNED THAT THE FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED ON A CAR THAT IS ONLY 5 YEARS, AND IT IS QUALITY PROBLEM. YOU CAN IMAGINE HOW DANGEROUS IT IS TO HAVE ENGINE STOP SUDDENLY ON THE HIGHWAY, AND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR THIS KIND OF CAR ON THE ROAD WITH FAMILY MEMBERS. TAIL LIGHTS SHOWED UP AS A MALFUNCTION ON THE CONSOLE, I THOUGHT IT WAS A BAD BULB SO I REPLACED IT BUT WHILE DOING SO I NOTICED THAT THE HARNESS AND PIN FROM THE BULB HOLDER WAS MELT. THE WEIRD PART ABOUT THIS IS THAT ONLY 1 PIN WAS BURNT, AFTER DOING RESEARCH AND I FOUND OUT THAT THIS WAS A COMMON ISSUE WITH OTHER BMW. I SPOKE WITH MANY OTHER OWNERS ON FORUMS AND THEY EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE, THIS ISN'T JUST ISOLATED TO THE 2014 BMW 320XI BUT OTHER BMW VEHICLES SEEM TO HAVE THE SAME FLAWS. OTHER ALSO REPORTED THAT EVEN AFTER REPLACING THE HOUSING AND HARNESS BUT THE ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN. THIS CAN BE CONSIDER AS A FIRE HAZARD, SOMETHING IS CLEARLY CAUSE THIS TO MELT AND SHORT OUT THE BMW TAIL LIGHTS. MY CONCERN THAT IT WAS SPARK AND CAUSE REAL DAMAGE.

I GOT MY 2014 BMW 320I XDRIVE 10 MONTHS AGO, LOVE THE CAR! BUT SINCE I'VE HAD IT, THIS HAS HAPPENED LIKE 5 TIMES NOW, WHEN I SHUT THE CAR OFF WITH THE FIRST PUSH OF THE BUTTON EVERYTHING SHUTS OFF INCLUDING ELECTRICAL WHICH ISN'T SUPPOSE TO SHUT OFF UNTIL THE 2ND PUSH OF THE BUTTON. SO BASICALLY NOTHING WILL WORK ON IT AT ALL UNTIL IT WANTS TO WORK ON ITS OWN. IT LEFT ME AND MY KIDS STRANDED ONE TIME CAUSE LITERALLY NOTHING WOULD TURN ON. NO ELECTRONICS WORK, CAN'T ACCESS TRUNK CAUSE IT'S ELECTRIC. AND TODAY I WANTED TO GO RUN AN ERRAND BUT COULDN'T CAUSE NOTHING WOULD TURN ON. NOTHING WRONG WITH THE KEY FOBS AT ALL AND ALSO TESTED THE BATTERY WHICH IS GOOD. JUST TO DIAGNOSE HERE AT THE BMW DEALERSHIP IS $131. I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY RIGHT NOW JUST TO SEE WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. I WAS HOPING FOR ASSISTANCE BEING THIS IS A MANUFACTURER ERROR AT SOME POINT WITHIN THE SYSTEM. THE CAR ONLY HAS 36,000 MILES ON IT FOR BEING ALMOST 5 YEARS OLD NOW. ANY ASSISTANCE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I DID BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH THE CAR. RECEIVED A WARNING LIGHT AND ACCOMPANYING ERROR MESSAGE STATING I HAD A MALFUNCTIONING PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEM. VEHICLE WAS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED PURCHASE, 2ND OWNER. AS VEHICLE WAS UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY AND PREPAID MAINTENANCE PROGRAM, WE TOOK IT IN FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED US THAT THE PASSENGER SEAT DETECTION MAT WAS TO BLAME AND IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AS THE CONNECTION POINTS APPEARED CORRODED. WHEN I INQUIRED AS TO HOW THEY BECAME CORRODED, I WAS INFORMED THAT SOMEONE MUST HAVE SPILLED SODA ON THEM...UNDER THE LEATHER, THROUGH THE FOAM PAD IN A VEHICLE THAT WE DO NOT ALLOW ANY FLUIDS IN, LET ALONE SODA. AFTER HITTING A WALL IN AN ATTEMPT TO HAVE THIS COST COVERED, I WAS GIVEN 10% OFF THE COST OF REPAIR AND BEGRUDGINGLY COVERED THE REPAIR COST AT AN OUT THE DOOR TOTAL OF $1132.76. THIS WAS AN ISSUE IN THE PREVIOUS GEN 3 SERIES AND JUST LAST WEEK I RECEIVED A WARRANTY EXTENSION COVERING THIS TYPE OF REPAIR ON MY 2007 BMW M5. IT APPEARS TO BE A PERVASIVE ISSUE WITH THIS CARS BUT AS YET NO RESOLUTION IN REGARDS TO REPAIR RESPONSIBILITY FALLING TO THE MANUFACTURER. I HAVE BEEN LOCKED OUT OF THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR FOR SERVICE TO THE BMW DEALERSHIPS. THE FIRST TIME, THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAD FIXED THE ISSUE, BUT THE SAME ISSUE REOCCURRED IN A WEEK. THIS TIME, I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED THE ISSUE. IN A FEW MONTHS, THE ISSUE HAS AGAIN SURFACED. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I HAVE ALREADY BEEN LOCKED OUT OF THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES AND HAD TO SEEK ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO OPEN THE DOOR.

I AM CONFUSED AND NEED TO KNOW IF MY CAR CONTAINS A FAULTY TAKATA AIR BAG. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT KNOW. I AM CONCERNED SINCE MY SON IN COLLEGE DRIVES THE CAR IN ANOTHER CITY THAN I LIVE IN.

THE MISFIRE DETECTION MONITOR, A SOFTWARE STRATEGY BUILT INTO THE COMPUTER, IS DESIGNED TO DETECT AN ENGINE MISFIRE. THE COMPUTER CAN ALSO NORMALLY IDENTIFY THE SPECIFIC CYLINDER IN WHICH THE MISFIRE HAS OCCURRED. A MISFIRE IS NOTHING MORE THAN A LACK OF COMBUSTION, WHICH CAN BE CAUSED BY POOR FUEL QUALITY OR METERING, LOW COMPRESSION, LACK OF SPARK OR UNMETERED AIR ENTERING THE ENGINE. THERE ARE OTHER POSSIBLE, LESS OBVIOUS CAUSES AS WELL, SUCH AS UNCOMMANDED EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR), FLOW. WHEN THE MISFIRE MONITOR DETECTS A MISFIRE, IT WILL TRIGGER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WITH THE SPECIFIC CYLINDER NUMBER AS THE LAST DIGIT IN THE P030X CODE. FOR INSTANCE CYLINDER 1 MISFIRE IS P0301, CYLINDER 2 IS P0302 ETC. IN THIS CASE WE HAVE EITHER MULTIPLE CYLINDERS MISFIRING, OR THE COMPUTER SIMPLY CAN'T DETERMINE THE SPECIFIC CYLINDER, AND AS SUCH WE ARE LEFT WITH THE P0300 IN COMPUTER MEMORY.

PARKED AUTO IN LEVEL PARKING LOT BY PLACING FOOT ON BRAKE AND DEPRESSING "PARK" BUTTON ON GEAR SHIFT, AFTER WHICH WIFE EXITED PASSENGER SEAT TO RETRIEVE PACKAGE IN REAR SEAT. WHEN BRAKE RELEASED TO TURN OFF ENGINE, AUTO ROLLED FORWARD ONTO WIFE'S LEFT FOOT, CRUSHING IT INTO THE PAVEMENT UNDER THE WEIGHT OF REAR WHEEL OF AUTO AND CAUSING HER TO FALL HARD ON CONCRETE PAVEMENT. GEAR SHIFT WHEN "PARK" BUTTON ENGAGED HAD GONE INTO "NEUTRAL" ONE GEAR ABOVE "PARK." BECAUSE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND HAS TO BE DEPRESSED TWICE VERY SLOWLY - WITH SPACE IN-BETWEEN EACH DEPRESSION - OR ENGINE WILL NOT ENGAGE, REAR WHEEL WAS CRUSHING WIFE'S FOOT FOR 1-2 MINUTES BEFORE ENGINE WOULD RE-ENGAGE AND AUTO COULD BE ROLLED OFF HER FOOT. PLEASE NOTE THAT 2014 MBW 320I GEAR SHIFT HAS "PARK" IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GEAR SHIFT, NOT AT THE TOP AS IS CUSTOMARY, WITH "NEUTRAL" ONE SLOT ABOVE "PARK." WE TESTED PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK SEVERAL MORE TIMES AFTER THE INCIDENT DESCRIBED ABOVE AND NEARLY 50% OF TIME WHEN THE "PARK" BUTTON IS DEPRESSED, THE GEAR SHIFT SLIDES FORWARD ONE SLOT PAST "PARK" INTO "NEUTRAL." IF AUTO WERE ON A SIGNIFICANT INCLINE OR IF PARKED IN FRONT OF CONCRETE OR BARBED WIRE BARRIER WITH SOMEONE WALKING IN FRONT OF AUTO WHEN "PARK" BUTTON IS ENGAGED, MISTAKENLY SLIDING INTO "NEUTRAL," SOMEONE COULD BE INJURED MUCH MORE SERIOUSLY OR EVEN FATALLY. WE NOTE PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS TO THE NHTSA REGARDING SAME GEAR SHIFT DEFECT IN 7-SERIES BMW'S MADE BETWEEN 2001 AND 2008 THAT RESULTED IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, WHICH WAS DISMISSED BECAUSE PLAINTIFF'S FAILED TO PROVE THAT BMW KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THAT CAN HARDLY BE A LEGITIMATE EXCUSE IN THIS INSTANCE WITH A BMW 320I MADE IN 2014.

BRAND NEW CAR (2 MONTHS OLD, ABOUT 2000 MILES). RECEIVED WARNING ON HIGHWAY THAT MY LEFT REAR TIRE WAS LOW AND TO PULL OVER. I HAVE RUN FLATS SO I SLOWED DOWN IN RIGHT LANE AND EXITED TO GET TO A GAS STATION. THE TIRE WAS NOT FLAT BUT I PUT AIR IN IT AND THE TPM WENT BACK TO GREEN. THE NEXT MORNING THE SAME THING HAPPENED AND I DROVE STRAIGHT TO BMW OF NAPLES WHERE THEY TOPPED OFF ALL 4 TIRES AND SAID IT'S NORMAL AND TO COME BACK IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE NEXT MORNING WAS FINE. DAY 4 AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT WE GET IN THE CAR IN THE MORNING AND ALL 4 TIRES READ LOW. WE START DRIVING TO WARM THEM UP AND SEE IF THAT HELPS. 3 TIRES WENT BACK UP TO NORMAL BUT THE BACK LEFT TIRES REMAINS LOW READING. WE LOOKED IT OVER AND CANNOT SEE ANY PUNCTURES, NAILS, ETC.
