THIS ISSUE IS CONCERNING SINCE I WOULD EXPECT A BMW VEHICLE TO HAVE NO OPPORTUNITY FOR LEAKING WATER FROM THE OUTSIDE.

2014 BMW X5 XDRIVE. AS I AM ENTERING A PARKING SPOT, MOVING FORWARD, I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE TO STOP MY CAR, AND INSTEAD OF DOING THAT, THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND ACCELERATED QUICKLY. TRIED TO CLICK PARKING BUT THE CAR HARD STOPPED BECAUSE IT HIT THE ROCK IN THAT AREA IN FRONT OF ME. ABLE TO PUT IT INTO PARKING AFTER IT HIT THE ROCK. FRONT RIGHT BUMPER DAMAGED PRETTY SEVERELY. FORTUNATELY NO ONE HURT BUT IF WE ROLLED PAST THE ROCK ALL 5 OF US WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD AS THERE IS A VALLEY INFRONT OF US. SIMILAR THING HAPPENED 10 MONTHS BACK WHEN WE ARE AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL ENGINE REVVED UP AND MOVED FORWARD. WHEN WE CALLED LOCAL DEALERSHIP THEY SAID NO RECALLS AT THAT TIME.

THIS 2014 BMW X5 HAS A DIESEL ENGINE. THE FUEL PUMP HAS FAILED TWICE IN NINE MONTHS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY LOSE POWER AND COMPLETELY STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT A STOP LIGHT BOTH TIMES. HOWEVER, THIS CAN OCCUR WHILE IN MOTION AT ANY TIME. THIS DIESEL ENGINE FUEL PUMP FAILURE IMPACTS ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM WHICH REQUIRES A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT (PLEASE SEE ATTACHMENT FOR FIRST REPAIR. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT BMW SERVICE}. THIS PROBLEM WILL OCCUR AGAIN BECAUSE THEY KEEP USING THE SAME PARTS. I AM SURE WITH SOME INVESTIGATING YOU WILL FIND THAT THIS IS AN UNREPORTED PROBLEM WITH BMW. THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY IS AT STAKE AND BMW IS BEING COMPLETELY EVASIVE AT THIS POINT.

ON OCTOBER 18, 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 7:50PM, MY 2014 BMW X5 SPONTANEOUSLY IGNITED IN MY GARAGE - THE FIRE FROM THE EXPLOSION DESTROYED ALL CONTENTS IN MY GARAGE, INCLUDING A SECOND CAR AND THE FIRE AND SMOKE DAMAGE DESTROYED THE HOUSE AND MOST OF THE CONTENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND PARKED IN MY GARAGE; THE GARAGE WAS CLOSED. I PARKED THE CAR IN MY GARAGE AT 7:30PM AND THE EXPLOSION HAPPENED AROUND 7:50PM. THE CAR WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION, I HAD JUST PURCHASED IT ON JUNE 27, 2017, IT WAS CERTIFIED WITH 16,000 MILES ON IT AND I ONLY PUT 5000 MILES ON IT WITHIN THAT 3.5 MONTH TIME PERIOD. THERE WERE NO SIGNAL OR WARNING INDICATORS ON, EVER; IT WASN'T EVEN DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE CAR DROVE FINE THAT DAY AND NOTHING WAS AMISS. THE FIRE INVESTIGATORS ARE FAIRLY CERTAIN THE ABS CONTROL UNIT (A PART MANUFACTURED BY BOSCH) WAS FAULTY AND SHORTED, THUS CAUSING THE FIRE. THE INVESTIGATOR SAID THIS IS THE 150TH CASE HE'S SEEN OF THIS SPECIFIC CONTROL UNIT STARTING A FIRE. I WAS IN THE SHOWER DURING THE EXPLOSION, MY TWO AUTISTIC CHILDREN, AGES 7 AND 10, WERE SLEEPING. (MY HUSBAND WAS NOT HOME AT THE TIME). THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO ESCAPE WITH MY CHILDREN UNHARMED. THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN INCREDIBLY TRAUMATIC FOR MY TWO CHILDREN, BOTH OF WHOM HAVE SEVERE AUTISM. WE MOVED INTO A NEW HOME, BUT MOST OF OUR BELONGINGS HAVE BEEN DESTROYED AND WE ARE LITERALLY STARTING FROM SCRATCH. AT 48,500 MILES I HAD A PASSENGER DOOR NOT CLOSED LIGHT COME ON. I HAVE THE OPTIONAL SOFT CLOSED DOORS. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO GET IN RIGHT AWAY DUE TO SCHEDULING ISSUES AS THE NEAREST DEALER IS 60+ MILES AWAY. BY THE TIME I GOT THE CAR TO THE DEALER IT HAD 50,015 MILES. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT BMW WAS VERY STRICT ABOUT THE MILEAGE WARRANTY AND WOULD NOT FIX IT DESPITE THE FACT I CALLED TO MAKE THE APPOINTMENT THE WEEK PRIOR "WHILE STILL BELOW 50,000 MILES". I WAS TOLD I SHOULD HAVE FLAT-BEDDED IT IN AND I WOULD HAVE STAYED BELOW 50000 MILES AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED. THIS SEEMED A RIDICLOUS TO ME. THE ESTIMATED COST WITH DIAGNOSIS WAS $1,100 APROX. FOR WHAT APPEARED TO BE A DOOR LATCH SENSOR MALFUNCTION. AT 52, 500 MILES THE DRIVER DOOR IS NOW HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND IS AT THE DEALERSHIP. I KNOW BMW HAS HAD OTHER ISSUES WITH THEIR SOFT CLOSE DOORS AND WANT TO ADD MY ISSUES. MY VEHICLE IS A 2014 X5 35I XDRIVE. ORDER OF EVENTS, 5-17 48,500 APRX. FIRST ISSUE WITH PASSENGER DOOR (INTERMITTENT THEN CONTINOUS) SCHEDULED APPT 6-6-17 VEHICLE HAD 50015 MILES. 8-17 DRIVER SIDE DOOR LIGHT (INTERMITTENT AT FIRST THEN CONTINUOUS) IN DEALER 9 -10-17 FOR REPAIR. I DID CONTACT BMW ABOUT ISSUE AND THEY ARE LOOKING INTO OFFERING ME "GOODWILL" SERVICE!!

WHILE RETURNING HOME FROM CHICAGO, AROUND 3:30 PM ON SUNDAY 07/26/14 - I WAS EXITING I-88 ON THE ROUTE 31 EXIT RAMP. HALFWAY UP THE RAMP THE TRUNK/HATCH OF THE X5 OPENED ON ITS OWN. THE CAR WAS TRAVELING APPROX. 28 - 30 MPH WHEN THE HATCH OPENED UNDER ITS OWN CONTROL. BOTH OF THE DRIVERS (MY) HANDS WERE ON THE STEERING WHEEL TURNING THE VEHICLE WELL AWAY FROM THE TRUNK CONTROLS LOCATED ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AT THE TIME. MY DOG WAS LOCATED IN THE BACK/TRUNK OF THE CAR WHEN THE HATCH DECIDED TO OPEN. LUCKILY HE WAS SLEEPING AT THE TIME IT OPENED AS THERE IS USUALLY NO HOLDING HIM BACK WHEN IT COMES TO ENTERING OR EXITING THE CAR. COMBINE THIS WITH THE FACT THAT I THINK HE WAS CONFUSED AS TO WHY THE CAR WAS STILL MOVING AT THE TIME THE HATCH OPENED, THAT BY THE TIME I GOT THE CAR PULLED OVER AND IN PARK; THE DOG ([XXX]), WAS JUST ON THE VERGE OF JUMPING OUT AND I WAS ABLE TO CATCH HIM WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO DO SO. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT THE CAR DIRECTLY BEHIND ME ON THE RAMP SAW THE DOG AND STOPPED SO I WAS ABLE TO GATHER THE DOG AND RETURN HIM TO THE CAR SAFELY. I THEN PROCEEDED TO CLOSE THE TRUNK USING THE BUTTON LOCATED ON THE HATCH. THE HATCH/DOOR OPERATED WITHOUT INCIDENT FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE RIDE HOME. WHILE I'M GRATEFUL THAT NO ONE WAS HURT OR INJURED AS RESULT OF THIS INCIDENT, THE SCENE WAS STILL KIND OF TERRIFYING. YOU'RE DRIVING AND THE TRUNK ON YOUR SUV MAGICALLY COMES UNDER POWER AND OPENS ON IT'S OWN? WHILE THE CAR WAS MOVING? WITH MY DOG IN THE TRUNK? WHAT IF I WAS DOING 55 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF THE HIGHWAY? I PREVIOUSLY SCHEDULED THE CAR FOR SERVICE BECAUSE THE TRUNK WOULDN'T OPEN, BUT THEN IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN, SO I NEVER BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE. SO I'VE GONE FROM THE TRUNK NOT WANTING TO OPEN TO OPENING ON IT'S OWN WHILE THE CAR IS IN DRIVE AND IN MOTION. THIS HAPPENED TO ME WHILE DRIVING A BRAND NEW 2014 BMW X5 ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS (DIFFERENT DAYS) THE DRIVERS DOOR AND THE LEFT REAR PASSENGER DOOR BOTH OPENED WHILE DRIVING. THE DOOR WILL OPEN TO THE POINT THAT I CAN HEAR THE WIND COMING THROUGH THE DOOR. I GET A SIGN ON THE DASH BOARD THAT THE DOOR IS OPEN, INTERIOR LIGHTS GOES ON, HOWEVER, WITHOUT THE AUDIBLE SOUND TO WARN THAT A DOOR IS OPEN. IF I TRY TO PULL ON THE DOOR TO CLOSE IT, IT WILL NOT CLOSE UNLESS I COMPLETELY OPEN THE DOOR AND SLAM IT SHUT. IF I TRY TO PUSH THE DOOR TO OPEN IT WITHOUT PULLING THE HANDLE IT WOULD NOT OPEN EITHER. I TOOK MY CAR TO MY LOCAL BMW LOCAL DEALERSHIP AFTER THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED AND THEY TOOK IT IN TO CHECK: THE ELECTRICAL WIRING ON THE DOORS, THE LOCKS AND FINALLY REPROGRAMMED THE CAR. THREE DAYS LATER THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED ON THE DRIVER PASSENGER DOOR WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND AS I WAS TURNING. I FELT THE DOOR MOVING AS IT OPENED, GOT THE VISIBLE DISPLAY THAT THE DOOR OPENED HOWEVER WITHOUT THE AUDIBLE ALARM AGAIN. THE DOOR LOCKS I HAVE THE AUTOMATIC SUCTION DOOR SHUTTING SYSTEM AND THE DOOR LOCKS AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGE AS SOON AS I DRIVE OFF. *TR

ON ONE OCCASION, AND AS REQUESTED BY THE DEALERSHIP, I DROVE THE CAR BACK WITH AN AJAR DOOR WITHOUT TOUCHING IT OR TURNING OFF THE ENGINE. THE DEALERSHIP TOOK A PHOTO AND STATED THAT THIS SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED GIVEN THAT THE CAR HAS SOFT-CLOSE DOORS AND THAT IT WON'T ACTUALLY START DRIVING IF ANY DOOR IS STILL SLIGHTLY OPEN. I HAVE A COPY OF THE PHOTO AS PROOF, BUT THE DEALERSHIP UPON INSTRUCTION FROM BMW NA WAS INSTRUCTED TO RETURN THE VEHICLE STATING THAT IT HAS NO ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP DID REPLACE THE LOCKING MECHANISMS ON THE TWO DOORS (BOTH FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOORS) THAT BECAME AJAR, BUT IT HAPPENED AGAIN, THE FOURTH TIME. *TR

SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF MY SELLING DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE OVERNIGHT AND FOUND OUT SOMETHING IS BROKEN AND THE BROKEN PART HAS TO BE REPLACED. THEY SAID IT WOULD BE GOING TO TAKE AT LEAST END OF JANUARY 2014(THIS IS WHAT THEY TOLD VERBALLY). NEITHER SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF THE SELLING DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER, GUARANTEE WHEN IT CAN FIX AND REFUSED TO PROVIDE DOCUMENT EVIDENCE ON THAT. RIGHT NOW 2014 BMW X5S ARE ON THE ROAD WITHOUT HAVING THE REPLACEMENT PARTS TO FIX IN CASE OF ISSUES. IN MY CASE IT IS HEATED STEERING WHEEL, BUT I'M NOT SURE THE ELECTRONICS OF THIS VEHICLE SINCE IT HAS BROKEN SO NEW AND IT IS TAKING LONGER TIME TO FIX WHICH NOBODY KNOWS WHEN. WHAT I BELIEVE IS MANUFACTURERS SHOULD NOT RELEASE THEIR VEHICLES, UNLESS THEY HAVE FULL CONTROL ON THEIR PRODUCTION LINES. ALSO I ASK DOCUMENT EVIDENCE FROM MANUFACTURER AND SELLING DEALERS SERVICE DEPARTMENT, BY CONFIRMING THAT THIS VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE. THEY ARE REFUSING TO PROVIDE SUCH DOCUMENT. I REALLY DOUBT THAT 2014 BMW X5S ARE STILL GOOD ENOUGH TO HIT THE ROAD. BTW, THE VEHICLE IS STILL ON TEMPORARY TAGS.
