JUST BOUGHT THE CAR, WITHIN A MONTH THE BRAKES WERE GRINDING. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THERE WAS A POWER TRAIN LEAK WHICH THEY REPLACED. A FEW DAYS LATER, I WAS AT AN INTERSECTION TURNING AND MY WHEEL COMPLETELY LOCKED, CAUSING ME TO HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. AN OFFICER HAPPENED TO BE ON THE SAME ROAD AND SAW THAT MY CAR WAS ALSO SMOKING AS WELL WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN DUE TO THE PREVIOUS POWER TRAIN LEAK. I LOOKED AT OTHER RECALLS AND SURE ENOUGH, THERE ARE SOME ON THE 2011-2013 REGARDING STEERING AND BRAKE SYSTEMS AS WELL. THEY DEFINITELY NEED TO CHECK THE 2014 DODGE AVENGER AS WELL FOR SIMILAR ISSUES. NOW THE FRONT PASSENGER AREA AND MY AXEL IS RUINED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

IT IS CUT IN HALF AND HAS STARTED RATTLING. MY MECHANIC ADVISED I CALL DODGE DEALER ON MONDAY MORNING 3/22/2021. I CALLED THIS MORNING AT 9:11 A.M. (EASTERN TIME). I DID RECEIVE A CALL BACK, I EXPLAINED IN GREAT DETAIL WHAT HAPPENED, I IN NO CERTAIN TERMS TOLD THE DEALER, I WILL NOT BE PAYING FOR THIS, AND WAS TOLD, THERE ARE NO OPEN RECALLS AT THIS TIME, THAT I WOULD NEED TO BRING MY CAR IN AND LEAVE FOR THE TECHNICIAN TO CHECK FOR PARTS AND IT MIGHT BE COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, I ALSO REQUESTED THEY CHECKED THE DRIVERS SIDE HEAD REST, STATED, THEY MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO DO THAT. BOTH OF MY HEADRESTS DEPLOYED WITHOUT ANY TYPE OF COLLISION. THE FIRST HAPPENED A FEW MONTHS AGO, MY PASSENGER SIDE DEPLOYED OVERNIGHT WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE CARPORT. THE PLASTIC CLIPS WERE BROKEN. THEN ON 7/15/2020, THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED AT SOME POINT DURING THE 8 HOURS MY CAR WAS PARKED AT WORK. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS IN THE SEAT EITHER TIME BECAUSE THAT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN INJURY. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2011-2013 AVENGER MODELS, BUT APPARENTLY THEY DECIDED NOT TO CHANGE ANYTHING FOR THE 2014 MODEL, THERE ARE TONS OF COMPLAINTS, SOME WITH INJURY, MOST WITH RIDICULOUS REPAIR BILLS AND ALL THIS IS DUE TO FAULTY CHEAP PLASTIC CLIPS THAT APPARENTLY JUST SNAP DURING NORMAL USE. WE SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS, CHRYSLER SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED WITH A BETTER, MORE SUBSTANTIAL SYSTEM.

THE CAR ENGINES LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE DRIVING THE ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY LIGHT AND ECS LIGHTS CAME ON. THE CAR IS LOSING OIL AND OVERHEATING WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK THE CAR TO A SHOP AND THEY FOUND AN OIL LEAK BUT DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHERE THE OIL LEAK IS COMING FROM. OIL IS SPILLING ALL OVER THE TRANSMISSION. I CONTACTED DODGE SINCE THE CAR HAS 89,000 MILES ON IT AND THEY IGNORED THE PROBLEM. THE CAR SPUTTERS IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION IT DRIVES AT 2000 RPMS WITHOUT GAS PEDAL BEING PRESS. THE BRAKES DEPRESS ON THEIR OWN. WHY IS THERE NO INVESTIGATION DONE ON THESE DODGE AVENGERS. DO SOMEONE HAVE TO LOSE THEIR LIFE IN ORDER TO FIX THESE ISSUES?

THE OIL FILTER HOUSING IN THE 3.6L PENTASTAR V6 IS A NOTORIOUS DESIGN FLAW THAT HAS AFFECTED THOUSANDS OF CONSUMERS ACROSS THE GLOBE IN VEHICLES SUCH AS THE DODGE AVENGER, DODGE CHARGER, CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY, AND JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. ONLINE RESOURCES REGARDING THIS FLAW ARE NOT HARD TO FIND. ALL IT REQUIRES IS A SIMPLE SEARCH ON GOOGLE TO FIND THE HUNDREDS OF REVIEWS AND POSTINGS OF SIMILAR SITUATIONS REGARDING THE OIL FILTER HOUSING BY OWNERS OF VEHICLES USING THE 3.6L PENTASTAR V6. THE SHEER NUMBER AND FREQUENCY OF THIS PROBLEM REINFORCES THE LEGITIMACY AND CREDIBILITY OF THIS COMPLAINT. THIS DESIGN FLAW HOWEVER, IS NOT ONLY SPECIFIC TO THE WEAKNESS OF THE PLASTIC CONNECTING CAP ON THE OIL FILTER HOUSING (WHICH IS PRONE TO CHIPPING AND CRACKING) BUT IN THE PLACEMENT OF THIS WEAK PART DEEP WITHIN THE ENGINE ' REQUIRING MANDATORY PROFESSIONAL MAINTENANCE TO BE ADMINISTERED. THIS OIL FILTER HOUSING IS EFFECTIVELY A TICKING TIME-BOMB WITHIN ALL 3.6L PENTASTAR V6 ENGINES WHICH SADLY AWAITS ALL CONSUMERS. NOT ONLY IS THIS AN INCONVENIENCE FOR CONSUMERS ' HAVING TO PAY DEALERSHIPS $600+ TO HAVE THE PART REPLACED, BUT A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN ON MANY LEVELS. A FEW EXAMPLES ARE: (1) THE LEAKING OF OIL CAUSED BY THE INEVITABLE CRACKING OF THE OIL FILTER HOUSING CAUSES THE ENGINE TO REACH DANGEROUS LEVELS OF HEAT AND DEGRADE AT A MUCH FASTER RATE. (2) EXPOSED OIL RESTING ON THE ENGINE NEAR THE HOUSING MAY IGNITE CAUSING AN ENGINE FIRE. (3) MORE SPECIFIC TO MY SITUATION, THE LOSS OF OIL MAY OCCUR WHILE DRIVING IN MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN ' WHERE THE RESPONSIVENESS OF YOUR ENGINE MAY BE DIRECTLY CORRELATED TO YOUR CHANCES OF SURVIVAL. IT IS UNFATHOMABLE TO THINK THAT AFTER THE MANY THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR INSTANCES CONSUMERS HAVE FACED REGARDING THE FLAWED PART, THAT A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN PUT INTO PLACE. THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE MAKING IT A SAFETY ISSUE. COME TO FIND OUT ONLINE THAT ALOT OF DODGE AVENGERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. CAR ALSO DOES THIS WHILE MAKING LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS. IT JERKS N LOSES ACCELERATION RANDOMLY NO MATTER HIGH ROMS OR LOW RPMS. ON THE HIGHWAY OR STREET YOU CAN'T GAIN ACCELERATION TO PASS OR TO GET OVER WITHOUT RISKING AN ACCIDENT DUE TO NOT MOVING WITH THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC. ALSO AM UNKNOWN OIL LEAK APPEARS HAD THE CAR VALVE COVER GASKET AND OIL PAN GASKET REPLACE AND STILL LOOSES OIL. OIL IS SHOOTING ALL OVER THE ENGINE AND ENGINE MAKING UNKNOWN SOUND THAT DOESN'T TRIGGER A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. BUT THERE IS A TICKING SOUND COMING FROM ENGINE. TOOK IT TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION. I BELIEVE DODGE ACKNOWLEDGE THESE PROBLEMS BUT REFUSE TO FIX WHAT MAJORITY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE.

IF THE CAR IDLES FOR EVEN JUST AT A STOP LIGHT OR THE CAR IS SLOWED DOWN, THE CAR BEGINS TO OVERHEAT RAPIDLY. IT HAS ALSO BEEN OVERHEATING WHILE BEING DRIVEN AT 70 MPH. FLUSHING OR REPLACING THE HEATER CORE IS PROBABLY NOT AN OPTION SINCE IT WILL JUST CLOG THE HEATER CORE AGAIN AND THIS IS VERY EXPENSIVE. UNTIL ENOUGH PEOPLE COMPLAIN THIS WILL JUST KEEP HAPPENING UNTIL DODGE FIGURES OUT HOW THEY CAN FIX IT PERMANENTLY. I WAS LESS THAN 1 MILE FROM HOME. I NOTICED THE THROTTLE WASNT RESPONDING AS IT SHOULD WHEN I PRESSED THE PEDAL. THE ETC LIGHT WAS BLINKING AND THE TRACTION LIGHT WAS ON. I WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE OVER 20 MPH AND I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED AND HAVING TWO MECHANICS LOOK AT IT, THEY DETERMINED IT TO BE A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THIS WAS REPLACED. I PICKED THE CAR UP. LESS THAN 1/2 A MILE FROM THE SHOP, I LOST POWER AGAIN AND THE SAME LIGHTS REAPPEARED WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT NOW LIT UP. I TOOK IT BACK. HE RAN THE CODE AND IT WAS SHOWING POSSIBLE AN VACUUM ISSUE. HE KEPT IT OVER NIGHT TO TAKE A LOOKED AT IT AGAIN. IT WAS DETERMINED THEIR WAS NO VACUUM ISSUE AND NOW A CODE FOR THE MAP SENSOR WAS BEING REPORTED. IT WAS REPLACED AND THE MECHANIC DROVE IT THREE TIMES AT DIFFERENT DISTANCES. NO ISSUES. I PICK THE CAR UP. I GET ALMOST HOME (3 MILES AWAY). ETC LIGHT BLINKS, ENGINE LIGHT ON, TRACTION LIGHT ON. AT THIS POINT THE MECHINCA BELIEVES IT TO BE THE PCM WHICH HE SAYS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH DODGES. SO AT THIS POINT HE IS GOING TO PUT THE OLD THROTTLE BODY AND MAP SENSOR BACK ON AND REPLACED THE PCM.

LUCKILY, I WAS NOT SPEEDING, THE CAR WAS PUSHED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THE NEXT DAY AFTER DIAGNOSES, WE WERE TOLD IT WAS THE ENGINE AND WE NEED TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX IT BECAUSE WE JUST BOUGHT THE CAR FROM THEM. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME, I NEED $6,000.00 TO CHANGE THE ENGINE. THE MILEAGE WAS ABOUT 61,000 WHEN THE CAR WAS RETURNED. WE ARE NOT SURE WHEN IT HAPPENED, BUT THANK GOD IT WASN'T WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING WITH THE VEHICLE IN MOTION. THE FORCE OF THE HEADREST OPENING APPEARS TO HAVE BROKEN SOME PLASTIC RETAINER PIECES, AND NOW WE ARE FACED WITH REPLACING THE HEADREST. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO BE SURE THERE WERE NO SAFETY RECALLS, AND WAS INFORMED THERE WERE NOT. I ASKED IF THEY WOULD REPLACE A FAULTY SAFETY DEVICE THAT DECIDED TO MALFUNCTION AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ONLY WARRANTY WE HAD ON THE VEHICLE WAS FOR POWERTRAIN AND THEREFORE, THIS WOULD NOT BE A COVERED ISSUE. WE WERE THEN TOLD THE COST TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE HEADREST WOULD BE $625 PLUS TAX FOR THE PART ALONE! I ASKED FOR THE AREA REPRESENTATIVE'S NAME AND CONTACT INFORMATION AND THEY WERE ONLY ABLE TO PROVIDE ME WITH A NAME. I CALLED JIM BROWN DODGE IN TAMPA AND THEY REFUSED TO PROVIDE ME WITH THE INFORMATION AND THEY REFUSED TO TAKE MY INFORMATION TO RELAY TO THEM. I CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER FOR DODGE AND THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING AS WELL, SAYING IT WAS NOT A COVERED PART. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT JIM BROWN TOLD ME HE SEES THIS 5-6 TIMES PER YEAR. WHY ARE CUSTOMERS BEING CHARGED FOR REPLACEMENTS OF SAFETY DEVICES THAT ARE FAILING? FURTHERMORE, IF THE HEADREST IS DEPLOYING WITH SUCH FORCE AS TO BREAK THE PARTS INSIDE, WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF MY WIFE HAD BEEN DRIVING AT THE TIME?!?

THIS PART SHOULD BE RECALLED BY DODGE. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ALL OVER THE INTERNET FOR 2014 AVENGERS. PEOPLE COULD GET HURT. I HAVE NOT HAD THE PART REPAIRED BY DODGE, BUT HAVE BEEN QUOTED UPWARDS OF $500 TO FIX A HEADREST! THE HEADREST IS WHAT IS SETTING MY AIRBAG LIGHT OFF AND NOT KNOWING IF MY PASSENGER WILL BE PROTECTED IS NOT COMFORTING. DODGE NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE. TAKATA RECALL. WHILE I'M TOLD MY AIRBAG IS TAKATA I'M NOW TOLD IT IS "S61". IN ANY CASE, TODAY MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING LOCALLY IN TOWN AND HIGHWAY; ON AND OFF INFREQUENTLY. I CALLED DODGE AND SPOKE TO A "GLENN" WHO GAVE ME CASE # 32033318 FOR THE AIRBAG. HOWEVER, HE SAID THE "AIRBAG LIGHT" IS A SEPARATE ISSUE, CASE # 32033352. HE CALLED A LOCAL DEALER "FIELDS DODGE IN SANFORD, FL" AFTER TELLING ME DODGE WILL SET UP A DIAGNOSIS AT NO CHARGE, AND PUT ME ON LINE WITH "TOM" AT "FIELDS DODGE." HE SAID THERE WOULD BE A $89.95 DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE PLUS WHATEVER THEY FIND. I TOLD HIM WHAT "GLENN" TOLD ME AND HE TOLD ME "GLENN" WAS ONLY A CALL CENTER EMPLOYEE AND WAS MISTAKEN. I TOLD "TOM" I WOULD CALL DODGE BACK. I CALLED AND SPOKE TO A "QUARNEKA" THIS TIME WHO REVIEWED THE NOTES AND COULD NOT FIND "GLENN" TELLING ME NO CHARGE FOR THE DIAGNOSIS TO ME. I ASKED "GLENN", "QUARNEKA" AND "TOM" WHAT THE RISK IS OF DRIVING WITH THE LIGHT ON AND NONE HAD AN ANSWER. MY QUESTION TO ALL, UNANSWERED, IS THAT "ISN'T IT STRANGE MY 2014 DODGE AVENGER HAS A KNOWN AIRBAG ISSUE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON FOR THE FIRST TIME AND THERE IS NO RELATION? WHAT A DODGE AND DEALER RIPOFF. WE JUST MADE A 4,000 ROAD TRIP FROM FLORIDA TO NEW ENGLAND AND BACK WITH NO ISSUES.

ISSUES HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO BE REPLICATED AND HAS NOT BEEN BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THAT PURPOSE AS I HAD A FRIEND EXPERIENCE THE SAME AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD HER THEY COULDN'T RECREATE SO THERE WAS NO ISSUE. I HAVE CONTACTED MY DEALERSHIP AND HAVE AN APPOINTMENT FOR 6.5.17, AND I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED CHRYSLER REGARDING THE ISSUE SO THEY CAN GET A CASE MANAGER ASSIGNED. I TOOK IT BACK TO DODGE, INFORMING THEM THAT THEIR DIAGNOSTIC THAT WAS RECOMMENDED WAS HANDLED AND THE NOISE STILL OCCURS. THEY, CAME BACK WITH THE SAME ANSWER "YOUR FRONT BRAKES". HOW IS IT THAT YOU DIAGNOSE MY CAR AND TELL ME IT'S ONE THING, AND WHEN I GET THAT ONE THING FIXED, IT'S STILL THE SAME ISSUE?
