The ball joint on the windshield wipers failed (mid rain storm on the highway) causing the wipers to fail. There is a recall for this issue on 2013 GMC Terrains, but not on any other model years. The vehicle is being repaired at a dealership for $650CAD, can upload invoice if needed after completion. The part is available for inspection. Not being able to see at night, on the highway and in a rainstorm put not only myself and passenger at risk, but also all the vehicles travelling on the highway with me. The part has not been inspected by anyone except a GM mechanic. No warning at all prior to this failure.
Windshield wipers stopped working during heavy rainfall. No warning signs, were working fine, and then just stopped. Fortunately I was traveling at a manageable rate of speed given the weather conditions & lack of daylight. Appears this is a known issue for multiple GMC models.
During a rainstorm the wiper blades became stuck after regular use. It was then discovered by a technician the transmission/linkage arm (plastic) broke off and possible windshield wiper motor failure. No warning signs were given to anticipate this failure.
I need my whole engine replaced due, to common oil issues with the vehicle. Thus, it has caused Fuel propulsion issues, and engine trains breaking.
While driving on a major North Carolina highway at the posted speed limit of 65mph during a rain storm the windshield wipers stopped and froze in the middle of the windshield. The wipers would not operate at all and necessitated attempting to move from the middle lane to the berm with no visibility. This was a danger to other vehicles in the right lane and to the vehicle being driven. I pulled off the highway and waited until it stopped raining. Vehicle was then driven to the nearest exit and closest repair shop, which was a tire and repair shop. The manager said the vehicle has had recalls for the wiper motor and said to bring it to an authorized GMC dealer. This has not occurred to date as the weather is not clear. No other warnings, lights, or indicators occurred prior to the wiper motor failure.
on line it said that this vehicle was having problems with the timing chain which could break when driving causing damage to motor or worse yet loss of control. I had it to garage and they said the ticking noise is the timing chain. Is gmc recalling the vehicles for this?
Around 76k miles the vehicle started to stall, the engine completely stopped while in drive. The vehicle was burning oil and had terrible gas milage prior to stalling incidents. The first time it stalled was at an intersection with a traffic light, when we went to slow down the engine completely shut down. My infant daughter was in the car with me and it was terrifying. We would have been hit had the light not been turning red. After that we recognized that it typically stalled after starting the car and attempting to accelerate. At times it happened when pulling out of a parking lot onto a busy street and I would loose engine power. This was extremely scary due to not being able to get out of the way of oncoming traffic. I had to put my flashers on and roll to the side of the road where I could restart the car. The engine ran really loud and rough when the issue first started and even after repairs the engine is still loud when first starting from cold. After time the issue persisted and I noticed that after the first start and stall if I revved the engined hard it did not stall a second or third time. Prior to that there were times the vehicle stalled 2-3 times after first start. The first time I took it to a garage (79k) there was a check engine light on and they diagnosed a sensor that needed to be changed. The problem persisted after the sensor was changed. I contacted another local garage who said there are known engine issues with this make and model and they wouldn't touch it and suggested taking it to the dealer. The dealer said they are familiar with this issue and the engine needed to be rebuilt for $4500. This was quite a shock given the car only had 88k miles on it at the time we contacted the dealer. After the dealer repairs the engine no longer stalls. Recalls on this model only go through 2013. The date on my radio resets to October 13, 2013 when the battery is disconnected so it seems this issue is persisting in models not included in the lawsuit.
The front passenger airbag activated but did not deploy during a front end crash. There was a puff of smoke and it smelled like the airbag deployed but it did not. The vehicle also showed “service air bag” on the information area of the dash display. The hazards came on and would not turn off as well.
I was driving to physical therapy when a heavy downpour started. I had the wipers going full speed and still could barely see the road, when all of a sudden both wipers just stopped in the middle of the windshield and would not work. I could hear the motor still running and spinning, but the wipers wouldn’t move. I had it looked at and the wiper linkage arm had popped off and the ball joints and sockets are all worn out.

On 7/30/21 was driving on freeway going about 60mph in a heavy rainstorm when wiper blades suddenly stopped working in the middle of my windshield. Nearly crashed the car due to extremely poor visibility. This was a horrifying and dangerous safety issue. Had to pull over to side of the road out of traffic and wait for the rain to stop. I was in the middle of an 8 hour road trip and still had 4 hours of driving to go. Upon investigation when turning the blades on you can hear the motor working but no movement of the blades. Thankfully no one got hurt in this event. This happened shortly after hitting 100k miles.
Driving and there was a thump and the right windshield wiper arm came to a stop in the middle of my windshield and would no longer work during a downpour.
On an extremely rainy day, the windshield wipers stopped working. My son was driving the car, and his safety was extremely compromised. He could not see out the windshield at all, and he was lucky that he was in a position to get to the side of the road without incident. If he were on a highway, it would have been extremely dangerous. This occurred on July 8th, 2021. There were no warnings that precipitated the problem. The wipers were working fine. We went to our mechanic who had to replace the entire windshield wiper mechanism due to corroded joints. We paid approximately $260. The mechanic said this is a very common problem with GM wipers. We did not keep the damaged part... we did not know that this was a safety issue with other model GMC Terrains until today. Clearly, it is a widespread problem, and there should be a recall, as this is extremely dangerous
I was driving to work during a rain storm. I drove for about 25 minutes until I reached the highway. I merged onto the highway behind a tractor trailer. There was enough spray that I needed to put the wipers on high speed. After driving for a few minutes the wipers came down and stopped halfway. I was able to pull over on the shoulder and tried to determine what happen. I turned wipers off and on and could hear the wiper motor whirring. Motor worked but wipers did not engage. I got out of the vehicle and pushed the wipers down and they moved freely telling me they are not connected to the motor. This was very dangerous and scary! I am now in need of repairing this issue.
For the last 6 months my vehicle has excessive oil consumption 1/4 to 1/2 quart of oil every week. When it starts up it sounds like a diesel engine. In 2019 it did the same using about a 1/2 quart every 3 weeks. We have kept an eye on it ever since as over time it has increased oil consumption and just recently found out this is a problem for many others as well. We have always kept the oil changed when due per mileage sticker and vehicle oil life indicator.
While driving in a rainstorm, the wipers stopped working. This caused my visibility to suddenly become extremely compromised. A tractor trailer was in front of me and spraying water from the tires due to heavy rain as well. I had to pull over, under an over pass, and wait out the rain. This is extremely dangerous in of itself to be on the side of a major highway. I have since investigated and found the ball joint connection to the wiper arm corroded and broke off. The wiper motor still runs. This is identical to the 2013 GMC terrain issue.
While driving in the rain, my windshield wipers just stopped working while in an upright position on the windshield. Not only could I not see due to the rain, the wipers were actually blocking my view as well. They now will not turn on at all.
My GMC Terrain makes a clunking noise under the hood when I accelerate and go into a lower gear. Does it mostly going up hills but also even on flat road.
I'm having issues with my GMC Terrain when I start it. It always starts but it's like it keeps trying to start or is having issues getting enough fuel to get it to idle normal. Sometimes it only lasts a second or two and other times I have to push the gas pedal to get it to idle normally.
The contact owns a 2014 GMC Terrain. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator. The service engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to several independent mechanics and was informed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The contact then took the vehicle to the dealer and it was confirmed that the catalytic converter was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
My 2014 GMC TERRIAN WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. I CAN HEAR THE WIPER MOTOR RUNNING, BUTWIPERS NOT MOVING. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS AS I HAD TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY STOP DURING HEAVY RAIN WITH LIMITED VISIBILATY.
Car is burning oil excessively and the timing chain is loose putting the vehicle is reduced power mode. The timing chain was replaced at 40,000 miles and now it needs to be replaced again and the car only has 87,000 miles. I bought it with 70,000 miles on it. Someone needs to do a recall on these engines

DRIVING ONE DAY ON A BEGINNING WINTER MORNING CR HAD RAN PERFECTLY FINE AND UP-TO-DATE ON OIL CHANGES PREVIOUSLY OF SIX MONTHS OF BUYING IT THEN CAR STARTED TO AUTOMATICALLY SHUT ITSELF OFF EVERY TWO MINUTES WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD NOT KNOWING THAT THE FUEL FUMES ADMITTED FROM THE ENGINE DO NOT HAVE A LARGE ENOUGH OUTLET CAUSING MY MAIN OIL SEAL TO BURST AND BLOW MY INTAKE AND THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS WILL NOT BE FIXED AFTER GETTING REPAIRED DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO MODIFY THE ORIGINAL DESIGN.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IN BELOW FREEZING WEATHER THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED DIRECTING ME TO STOP THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY. AFTER WAITING 2 HOURS IN FREEZING TEMPERATURES I WAS ABLE TO GET VEHICLE TOWED TO A MECHANIC AND THE REAR MAIN OIL SEAL HAD BLOW OUT DUE TO A BLOCKED PCV VALVE. THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE UP TO 2013 GMC TERRAINS AND MINE IS 2014. PICTURES FROM THE SPECIAL COVERAGE BULLETIN 14882 LOOKS LIKE IDENTICAL PART STILL USED IN THE 2014.
EARLIER THIS MONTH WHILE DRIVING, OUR GMC TERRAIN BEGAN SHUDDERING WHILE IN LINE AT A DRIVE-THROUGH. A FEW DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING, IT DIED AT A STOPLIGHT, AND WHEN RESTARTED, IMMEDIATELY DISPLAYED A WARNING THAT THERE WAS REDUCED POWER DUE TO AN OIL ISSUE. WE WERE NOT DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A BODY SHOP WHO INFORMED US THAT IT WAS LEAKING OIL DRASTICALLY AND HAD A LEAK IN THE REAR MAIN SEAL. WE WERE TOLD IT WAS DUE TO THE COLD WEATHER AND THAT WE WERE THE THIRD GMC TERRAIN HE HAD SEEN IN 24 HOURS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. WE HAD TO TAKE IT TO A LARGER SHOP FOR THE REPAIR WORK, WHICH TOTALLED $2,407.33 TO REPAIR. THE SHOP SAID THE PCV SYSTEM FROZE AND CAUSED THE REAR MAIN SEAL TO BLOW OUT. THEY ALSO TOLD US THERE WERE MULTIPLE OTHER GMC TERRAINS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I LATER LEARNED THAT GMC HAD TO ISSUE A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE FOR TERRAINS FROM 2010-2013. THIS WAS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. THE SPECIAL COVERAGE NOTES THAT "GMC TERRAIN VEHICLE MAY EXPERIENCE A FROZEN PCV SYSTEM DURING COLD WEATHER OPERATION. THIS MAY INCREASE CRANKCASE PRESSURE LEADING TO A REAR SEAL OIL LEAK." THE PART NUMBER THEY REQUIRED TO BE REPLACED WAS THE SAME PART NUMBER WE HAD REPLACED.
"SERVICE SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM" WARNING UPON STARTUP AND SPORADICALLY WHEN DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEEDS. THE BLIND SPOT MONITOR LIGHTS IN THE SIDE MIRRORS DO NOT FUNCTION ANYMORE. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, BOTH SIDES USED TO ILLUMINATE WHILE RUNNING THRU SYSTEMS CHECK. NOW ONLY THE DRIVER'S SIDE LIGHTS UP. TO CONFIRM, THE BLIND SPOT MONITORING DOES NOT WORK FOR EITHER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE NOW. THE SENSOR IS UNDERNEATH THE REAR BUMPER COVER, EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS. THERE ARE SEVERAL FORUMS MENTIONING THIS ON THE GMC TERRAIN DENALI MODEL ALONG WITH CADILLAC AND CHEVROLET MODELS THAT HAVE THE SENSOR IN THE SAME PHYSICAL LOCATION OF THE CAR. THE SENSOR IS EXPOSED TO RAIN, SNOW, DIRT, DUST, MUD. I HAVE CHECKED RECALLS ON THIS BUT IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO HAVE ANY OUT THERE DESPITE FORUM COMPLAINTS. THERE SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN "SERVICE BULLETINS" SENT OUT FOR CADILLAC AND CHEVROLET MODELS DUE TO CUSTOMERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. THOSE HAVE BEEN REPLACED AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, TYPICAL COST FOR THIS PIECE DIRECT FROM ONLINE SELLERS IS $250+. TO HAVE THE DEALER REPLACE, IT'S LOOKING AT A COST UPWARDS OF $750+. THE NUMBER OF TERRAIN DENALI (THE ONLY TERRAIN TRIM WITH THE SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT) ARE RELATIVELY LOW COMPARED WITH THE QUANTITY OF THE CADILLAC AND CHEVROLET MODELS WITH THIS ISSUE. I'M WONDERING IF THIS IS POSSIBLY WHY THERE WERE NO "SERVICE BULLETINS" ON THE TERRAIN. THE TERRAIN HAS A HORRIBLE BLIND SPOT AND I UTILIZED THIS FEATURE ALL THE TIME WHEN IT WAS WORKING PROPERLY. I FEEL LIKE SAFETY IS COMPROMISED FOR MYSELF AND MY FAMILY WITH THIS NOW NOT WORKING. I APPRECIATE ANY AND ALL ASSISTANCE.
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, ON LOW TEMPERATURE DAY (~10*F), SMOKE BEGAN EMITTING FROM BOTTOM OF VEHICLE WITH PUNGENT SMELL. THE VEHICLE WAS IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND SHUT OFF. THERE WAS OIL COVERING THE ENTIRE UNDERCARRIAGE. THE OIL WAS PRESENT SUBSTANTIALLY ON THE EXHAUST SYSTEM, ALLOWING FOR POTENTIAL OF FIRE IF VEHICLE CONTINUED DRIVING. THE REAR MAIN SEAL WAS LEAKING AND REQUIRED TO BE TOWED HOME THEN TO DEALER AT LATER DATE FOR REPAIR. THE REPAIR AND ASSOCIATED REMEDIES FOLLOWED TSB 19-NA-021 BUT WERE NOT WARRANTIED AS THE VEHICLE'S VIN DID NOT FALL UNDER THE ASSOCIATED BULLETIN'S GUIDELINES. ALL REPAIRS AND REMEDIES WERE IDENTICAL TO PREVIOUS REPORTED FAILURES OF ABOVE LISTED BULLETIN.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING 60 MPH, WITHOUT WARNING, THE REAR MAIN SEAL FRACTURED CAUSING OIL TO LEAK FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT, A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE OIL LEAKING FROM THE REAR MAIN SEAL. TOM DAVIS CHEVROLET BUICK (2831 N 16TH ST, PARSONS, KS 67357, (620) 860-0751) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,000.
CAR IS EXPERIENCING OIL CONSUMPTION AT A HIGH RATE. I LOOKED INTO HIS AND I GUESS IS VERY COMMON. AND I GUESS GM WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WHAT DO I DO NOW? DO I JUNK IT AND TAKE A LOSS AS THE MOTOR IS NOW MAKING NOISE . THERE HAS GOT TO BE SOMETHING TO DO.
LEFT MY HOUSE ON A VERY COLD MORNING (BELOW 10 DEGREES) AND WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND MY ENGINE STARTED MAKING A VERY LOUD CLATTERING NOISE. LOW POWER MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE DASH AND SEVERAL LIGHTS DISPLAYED. NOTHING PRIOR TO THE NOISE. IMMEDIATELY PULLED IN AND PARKED MY VEHICLE. I HAD THE CODES RAN, CHECKED THE OIL AND IT HAD NONE! THE VEHICLE WAS CHECKED OUT AND THE PCV VALVE FAILED/FROZE CAUSING COMBUSTION IN THE ENGINE AND BLEW OUT THE REAR MAIN SEAL. ACCORDING TO SERVICE BULLETIN 14882 THIS WAS AN ISSUE ON THE 2010-2013 GMC TERRAINS AND 2010-2014 CHEVROLET EQUINOX (WHICH IS BASICALLY THE SAME THING) A RECALL WAS ISSUED. MY VEHICLE IS A 2014 (WHO'S TO SAY WHEN THE ENGINE WAS NOT BUILT IN 2013?) AND IT DOESN'T APPEAR THE ISSUE WAS FIXED ON THE 2014S WHICH IS GOING TO COST ME APPROXIMATELY $3000 TO FIX. WHEN THE REAR MAIN SEAL BLEW (OR STARTED LEAKING) IT COATED THE WHOLE UNDERSIDE OF MY VEHICLE WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSE ME TO WRECK OR CATCH FIRE. I HAD TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED SINCE I WAS SEVERAL MILES FROM HOME.

DURING COLD TEMPERATURES (14 DEGREES) MY PCV VALVE FAILED TO WORK WHILE SITTING AT A READ LIGHT WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON A CITY STREET RESULTING IN MY REAR MAIN SEAL BLOWING. THIS WAS AN ISSUE ON THE 2010-2013 GMC TERRAINS AND OTHER GM VEHICLES AS NOTED IN THE SERVICE BULLETIN 14882. MY CAR IS A 2014 AND CLEARLY THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED WHICH HAS COST ME NEARLY $3000 IN REPAIRS. LUCKILY I WAS CLOSE TO HOME BUT THIS ISSUE COULD'VE LEFT ME STRANDED IN BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES. THIS ISSUE ALSO CAUSED OIL TO LEAK EVERYWHERE AND COULD'VE RESULTED IN A FIRE. MY CAR WAS SMOKING AND SMELLED AS THOUGH SOMETHING WAS BURNING.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 91,000. *LN*JB
I BOUGHT IT IN JUNE 2020. USED EXCESSIVE OIL. I KEPT ADDING OIL. I THOUGHT IT WAS AN OIL LEAK AND TOOK IT IN TO FIRESTONE TO GET FIX. AS I WAS ALMOST THERE THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WAS MAKING A LOUD NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. FIRST WARNING OF ANYTHING WAS WRONG, NO OTHER LIGHTS SHOWED ON DASH INDICATING A PROBLEM. I WAS DRIVING WHEN THIS HAPPENED. FIRESTONE SAID REALLY BAD OIL LEAK THAT DAMAGED TIMING CHAIN AND LOWER ENGINE. THEY SAID I NEED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. WHY DIDN'T I GET ANY WARNING LIGHTS INDICATING THERE WAS A PROBLEM BEFORE MY ENGINE WAS DAMAGED DUE TO EXCESSIVE OIL USAGE. I SEE THIS SAME ISSUE HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER OWNERS WITH THIS VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND COULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT.
RADIO STSYEM WENT OUT, WIPED BLADE MOTOR DEFECTIVE, CAM SHAFT SENSORS WENT OUT DUE TO OIL CONSUMPTION, SENSOR ACTUATOR WENT OUT DUE TO OIL CONSUMPTION, CAR WOULD DIE WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE OF OIL CONSUMPTION/CAM SHAFT ERROR, ENGINE IS CONSUMING TO MUCH OIL-PER ENGINE OIL STUDY DONE BY MY DEALERSHIP.

ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS A MESSAGE FLASHING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WITH A MESSAGE TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER PULLED OVER AND TURNED OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR MAIN SEAL WAS BLOWN DUE TO EXCESSIVE CRANKCASE PRESSURE. WASN'T BONE DRY. DROVE IT STRAIGHT HOME AND WAS IN EVEN WORSE CONDITION REVERSING INTO DRIVEWAY. THE OIL EXPLODED ALL OVER DRIVEWAY, HAD IT TOWED TO PRIVATE MECHANIC. THERE SHOULD BE NO WAY THAT SOMETHING LIKE THIS COULD TAKE PLACE AND I LOSE EVERYTHING AND HAVE TO PURCHASE AN ENTIRE NEW ENGINE. MOREOVER, HAD I BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THIS HAPPENED, I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED ALONG WITH OTHER PEOPLE AS WELL. ADDITIONALLY, THE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE LOW WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND BECAME AWARE OF AN OIL LEAK UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR MAIN ENGINE SEAL WAS BLOWN AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER AXELROD BUICK/GMC (6603 BROKE PARK RD, PALMER OH) AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.

BOTH HAVE DETERMINED PISTON + PISTON RINGS NEED REPLACED BUT A FULL ENGINE REPLACEMENT IS THE PREFERRED REPAIR. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 119,000 MILES. VEHICLES NOTIFICATION LIGHTS INCLUDE: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, SERVICE STABILITY TRACK AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER.
MY 2014 TERRAIN STALLED OUT AT A STOP SIGN. I RESTARTED THE TRUCK AND WAS IT MADE A NOISE AS THOUGH SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH A BELT. I WENT AROUND THE BLOCK AND IT STALLED OUT 3 MORE TIMES. I BACKED IT INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND NOTICED ALL OF THE OIL ON THE GROUND. I HAD THE TRUCK PUT ON A FLATBED AND TOWED TO THE DEALER. ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THE REAR MASTER SEAL BLEW. SOMEHOW, AS EXPLAINED TO ME, WATER GETS INTO THE ENGINE AND FREEZES. THIS CAUSES PRESSURE AND THAT IS THE CAUSE OF THE DAMAGE. MY TERRAIN TURNED 5 YRS OLD ON 11/21/19 WITH ONLY 50,249 MILES. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. I HAVE ALWAYS OWNED A GM VEHICLE AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM UNTIL NOW. THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER SINCE IT IS 5 YRS OLD AND I AM OUT $3,000 FOR REPAIRS. I DON'T EVEN HAVE THE TRUCK PAID OFF YET. THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL OR POLICY/WARRANTY WAIVER.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THIS MORNING DURING A STORM, MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS QUIT WORKING. I COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING AND WAS WORRIED I WAS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO MAKE IT OFF TO THE NEAREST EXIT TO CHECK MY WIPERS. THE WIPERS WOULDN'T WORK BUT I COULD HEAR THE MOTOR WORKING. WHEN I FINALLY MADE IT BACK TO MY HOUSE, I CHECKED ON THIS AND FOUND THAT OLDER TERRAINS WERE RECALLED BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE WITH WIPER BLADES BEING FAULTY.

I RECEIVED A DOCUMENT DATED DEC 2019 REGARDING A CONDITION WHERE A LINK BALL SOCKET IN THE WIPER TRANSMISSION MAY SEPARATE CAUSING A COMPLETE LOSS OF WIPER FUNCTION. IT IS NOT BEING HANDLED AS A RECALL WHICH I THINK IT SHOULD BE. ONLY VEHICLES WHICH EXPERIENCE THIS FAILURE WILL BE REPAIRED. THIS APPEARS TO BE MORE OF A SAFETY ISSUE THAN AN ADVISORY AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A RECALL OR BE DONE FOR FREE AT THE OWNERS REQUEST. I CONTACTED PATRIOT GMC IN BOYERTOWN AND ASKED THAT THE REPAIR BE DONE UNDER THE ADVISORY NOTICE AS A COURTESY BUT HAVE NOT HEARD BACK.
AS MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS FILED HERE MY WIPER TRANSMISSION/LINKAGE HAS FAILED ALSO BUT JUST WEEK FOR THE SECOND TIME AFTER HAVING REPLACED IT JUST LAST YEAR WITH NEW REPLACEMENT ONE. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND IT WAS SNOWING PARTIAL CITY STREET AND HIGHWAY DRIVING. LAST YEAR WHEN IT FAILED IT WAS RAINING ON MY WAY HOME ON HIGHWAY. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WOULD LIKE AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THIS HAS FAILED FOR A SECOND TIME AND NO MANUFACTURING DESIGN UPGRADE HAS BEEN DONE BY GM TO RECTIFY THIS CONTINUAL FAILURE.
ENGINE STALLS/ HESITATES ESPECIALLY WHEN AT A STOP, IDLE FOR A PERIOD SUCH AS AT A STOP LIGHT, ALSO WHEN IN REVERSE AND DOES NOT HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THIS DID HAPPEN BEFORE AND A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID APPEAR. I PULLED THE CODES P0010 AND P0011.
I HAVE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE SINCE 11/2019. IT TWICE HAS HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS IN 12/2019. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON FOR ABOUT A WEEK. THE AUTO START WAS NOT WORKING, AND THE ONLY ISSUE I SEEN WAS THAT IF IT SAT RUNNING FOR A WHILE LIKE FOR INSTANCES, WARMING UP, IT FLOODED AND THE ENGINE WOULD CONTINUE TO RUN A FEW SECONDS AFTER IGNITION KEY WAS TAKEN OUT OF THE IGNITION. ENGINE WOULD STOP AFTER BUBBLING TO A STOP. THEN THE CHECK LIGHT WENT OUT AND EVERYTHING WORKED PROPERLY. BUT, ON 2/1/2020, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. MY AUTO START IS NOT WORKING AGAIN. AS LONG THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT AUTO START. THE CAR IS AGAIN FLOODING OUT AFTER ENGINE SHUT DOWN. AFTER IGNITION KEY IS TAKEN OUT OF IGNITION. THE ENGINE WILL RUN FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN BUBBLE TO A ENGINE STOP. WONDER IF OTHER CUSTOMERS HAS HAD PROBLEMS LIKE THIS TOO? BUT, THAT IS NOT NORMAL FOR A VEHICLE TO HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIKE TO COME ON AND IT INTERFERES WITH THE AUTO START AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO FLOOD OUT LIKE IT DOES.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTIES EXPIRED BUT THEY WOULD OFFER $100 CERTIFICATION FOR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 109,000.
I BEEN CHANGING MY OIL EVERY 2000 MILES HOWEVER ENGINE OIL STAYS LOW; SEVERAL SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED STATING THAT THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, CAMSHAFT SENSOR, AND CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WAS BAD BUT IN FACT IT WAS THE ENGINE. THERE WAS A BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE VEHICLE, THE FLASHERS ACTIVATED ON ITS OWN, AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FAILED TO SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR BRUISES ON HER WRIST AND SORENESS FROM THE SEAT BELT RETRACTING. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT RECEIVED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AND DRIVEN HOME. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET THE 2014 GMC SIERRA 6.2 L V8 LOST POWER AND STARTED RUNNING ROUGH AS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION. I WAS ABLE TO STOP, AND REVERSE THE VEHICLE AWAY FROM THE INTERSECTION, TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING AND THE TRUCK SHUT DOWN, IT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART. THE TRUCK HAD UNDER 60,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME OF THE FIRST INCIDENT. IT WAS TOWED TO A GM DEALER SHOP FOR REPAIR. THIS FIRST INCIDENT TOOK PLACE IN AUGUST OF 2019. THE ROCKER ARM AND EXHAUST SPRING HAD TO BE REPLACED IN THE #2 CYLINDER, THE CYLINDER HEAD HAD TO BE REBUILT WITH A NEW HEAD. IN ADDITION THEY REPLACED 4 FUEL INJECTORS. IN DECEMBER OF 2019, A SECOND INCIDENT HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, THE ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH, I WAS CLOSE ENOUGH TO MY HOUSE TO GET IT HOME, PARK IT AND IT WAS TOWED TO A A CERTIFIED GM DEALER SHOP FOR REPAIR. THIS TIME IT HAD 61,752 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, THE NUMBER 5 SPRING BROKE. IT IS AT THE SHOP WAITING ON SPRING REPLACEMENT, THEY ARE IN BACKORDER, THERE IS NOT PROJECTED TIME THE REPAIR WILL BE COMPLETE.

WHEN I WENT TO GET MY OIL CHANGED, THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS SO LONG THEY COULDN'T GET SOME ON THE DIP STICK. I LEFT THE MECHANIC WITH 100% OF OIL AND JUST DROVE TO SAN ANTONIO AND IT IS DOWN TO 98 %. 2014 GMC TERRAIN WITH 66,000 MILES STALLING OUT WHEN SLOWING/STOPPING, LOW ACCELERATION, LOUD ENGINE. DEALER SAYS OIL IS LOW WHEN IT WAS JUST REPLACED 2 MONTHS (2,700 MILES) AGO. CANNOT DETERMINE WHY VEHICLE IS CONSUMING MORE OIL THAN WHAT GM ALLOWS.

HAS ALWAYS DONE THIS. 3) SOMETIMES THE COLLISION ALERT GOES OFF & THERE IS NOTHING AROUND I LIVE IN THE COUNTRY & HAVE NO TRAFFIC IT WILL JUST GO OFF SCARES THE CRAP OUT OF YOU & STARTLES ME. I SAW ANOTHER PERSON HAD THIS HAPPEN ALSO ALL SITUATIONS ARE IN MOTION WHILE DRIVING. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED AND RECALLS ISSUED IN CANADA FROM THIS MAKE, YEAR, AND MODEL VEHICLE. NO SO IN THE US. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE AND NEEDS TO BE RECTIFIED.
THE POWERED LIFT GATE RAISED ALL THE WAY UP (AS REQUESTED), THEN DROPPED UNEXPECTEDLY ON MY WIFE'S BACK AND HEAD THEN RAISED AGAIN THEN DROPPED AND LATCHED. THE POWERED LIFT GATE REPEATS THIS UPON EVERY REQUEST TO OPEN AND WILL NOT REMAIN OPEN, MAKING THE REAR CARGO AREA BASICALLY USELESS. THE LIFT GATE IS VERY HEAVY AND COULD POSSIBLY INJURE SOMEONE WHEN DROPPING DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN OUR GARAGE UPON THE FIRST TIME AND THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED EACH TIME THE LIFT GATE WAS REQUESTED TO OPEN.

I HAD TO GO TO AN AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP AND HAD THE WIPER TRANSMISSION REPLACED.U
WHILE DRIVING IN A HEAVY DOWNPOUR ON I-71 IN CLEVELAND, OHIO, MY WIPERS STOPPED SUDDENLY. I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY FOR SEVERAL HOURS UNTIL THE RAIN STOPPED IN ORDER TO CONTINUE ON. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT AND SERIOUS INJURIES OR EVEN DEATH ESPECIALLY DUE TO THE LOCATION, RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND SPEED (60MPH). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON FRIDAY, JUNE 14 AND WE WERE CHARGED $350 TO REPLACE THE WIPER TRANSMISSION AND THE DEALER TOLD US THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF A RECALL . I COULD HEAR THE MOTOR WORKING BUT THE WIPERS WERE NOT MOVING.
I WAS DIVING DOWN GRATIOT STREET IN SAGINAW MICHIGAN, IT WAS RAINING HEAVILY AND MY WINDSHIELD WIPER DECIDED TO STOP WORKING COMPLETELY. I LOST ALL VISIBILITY AND HAD PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY TO AVOID CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. WHILE SITTING IN MY CAR WAITING FOR THE RAIN TO STOP I REALIZE THAT MY WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR WAS STILL WORKING, BECAUSE I COULD HEAR IT MOVING BACK AND FORTH. BUT MY WIPERS WERE NOT. I HAVE READ THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH SOME OF THE HARD WEAR AND A LOT OF PRIOR YEARS HAVE BEEN RECALLED. I'VE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THE ENGINE IN THIS CAR, NOW ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THIS CAR WITH IT FAULTY EQUIPMENT CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE ME MY LIFE... I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS VEHICLE TO ANYONE.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY YESTERDAY IN HEAVY RAIN, MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. I WAS IN THE PASSING LANE, BESIDE A SEMI, AND SUDDENLY I HAD ALMOST ZERO VISIBILITY!!! WHILE SITTING THERE WAITING FOR IT TO QUIT RAINING, I BEGAN TO RESEARCH WHAT THE ISSUE COULD BE. I WAS BEYOND UPSET TO FIND OUT THAT THIS EXACT ISSUE HAS ALREADY BEEN REPORTED TO YOUR AGENCY MORE THAN 20 TIMES! FURTHER, THESE DEFECTIVE WIPER ASSEMBLIES HAVE ALREADY BEEN RECALLED IN CANADA BECAUSE THEY POSE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE!!! IT IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AND NEGLIGENT TO NOT ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE TO BE CORRECTED. I DEMAND AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY IT'S APPARENTLY GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE ACTUALLY GETTING KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS NONSENSE BEFORE ANY ACTION IS TAKEN!?!?!?!
I WAS DRIVING 70MPH ON HIGHWAY DURING RAIN STORM. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ALL OF A SUDDEN STOPPED WORKING. I WAS NEARLY IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO NO VISIBILITY AND MADE IT TO THE BERM OF THE HIGHWAY. I HAD TO SIT THERE FOR OVER AN HOUR UNTIL THE STORM PASSED. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP NEXT DAY AND THEY SAID THE WIPER LINKAGE TRANSMISSION FAILED. I DID RESEARCH AND GM IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE HOWEVER ONLY ISSUED RECALL ON 2013 MODELS IN THE US. GM CANADA HAS ISSUED RECALL ON MODEL YEARS THROUGH 2016. GM IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND ARE PUTTING LIVES AT RISK. IT MAKES NO SENSE WHY THEY ISSUE A RECALL IN ONE COUNTRY AND NOT THE OTHER. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ASAP.

WINDSHIELD WIPERS QUIT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH ON EXPRESSWAY DURING HEAVY RAINSTORM. VERY LIMITED VISIBILITY TO GET OFF THE ROAD AND WAIT FOR RAIN TO STOP. AFTER GETTING TO A SERVICE SHOP I WAS TOLD THE WINDSHIELD WIPER TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED. ONE OF THE TRANSMISSION JOINTS HAD POPPED OPEN
AROUND 90,000 MILES THE ENGINE BEGAN BURNING OIL. I HAD TO ADD OIL EVERY 2,000 MILES. AT 101,000 MILES RADIATOR FAILED. AT 123,000 MILES THE ENGINE COMPLETELY FAILED. THE MECHANICS AT GM DEALERSHIP COULD NOT EXPLAIN IT. THEY SAID IT APPEARED THAT THE ENGINE WAS BURNING OIL. I HAD TO SPEND $7,000 TO REPLACE ENGINE AND ADDITIONAL PARTS THAT WERE DAMAGED DUE TO THE ENGINE FAILURE. I HAVE SEEN MANY REPORTS ABOUT THE ENGINES FOR THIS MODEL AND YEAR BURNING OIL WITH NO ACTION OR RECALL FROM GM. ONCE MORE OWNERS HIT 100,000 MILES, I BELIEVE THAT THERE WILL BE MORE REPORTS OF THIS ENGINE ISSUE. HOPEFULLY GM WILL THEN RESPOND AND ISSUE A RECALL.

HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED, FURTHER INSPECTION SHOWED SEVERAL BROKEN ROCKER ARMS, BASICALLY ENGINE DAMAGE DUE TO TIMING CHAIN ISSUE AND/OR OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE. VEHICLE HAS 147,000 MILES AND HAD VARIABLE VALVE TIMING SOLENOID REPLACED AT 99,000 MILES. SENSOR SHOULD LAST AS LONG AS YOUR CAR BUT CAN BECOME DAMAGED DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR BUT MY CAR ONLY HAS 93000 HWY MILES AND IS ONLY 4 YRS OLD.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD WIPER TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY. ALSO, WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, A LOUD NOISE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE EXHAUST. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED. THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE SINCE NOVEMBER OF 2016. SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT IT THE CHECK AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEAL SINCE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THEY REPLACED SOMETHING. THIS 'FIX' ONLY LASTED FOR A LITTLE WHILE. THE LIGHT COMES ON ALL THE TIME NOW. WHEN I TOOK IT BACK TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT THEY ARE GOING TO CHARGE ME A FEE SINCE IT IS PAST THE WARRANTY. IF THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED CORRECTLY THE FIRST TIME. I ALSO DON'T FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE MY RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX SINCE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE.

THIS INITIALLY HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH THE CAR IN PARK AND ENGINE OFF. HAS ALSO HAPPENED WITH THE CAR IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH ENGINE RUNNING.

THEY INDICATED THIS WAS NOT A COMMON ISSUE AND WERE CONCERNED AN AIRBAG WOULD NOT PROPERLY DEPLOY IF I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION ON APRIL 14TH AND THEY INDICATED THERE WAS AN AIRBAG CONNECTOR ISSUE UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT (PAPERWORK INDICATES DRIVER SEAT). THE ADVISOR SAID THIS WAS A SIMPLE REPAIR AND THE TECHNICIAN FIXED IT THAT SAME DAY. OVER THAT WEEKEND THE AIRBAG SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON MORE FREQUENTLY AND STAYED ON FOR LONGER PERIODS OF TIME. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON APRIL 17TH. THE DIAGNOSIS THIS TIME WAS MORE IN DEPTH; THE ADVISOR INDICATED THERE WAS AN AIRBAG HIGH RESISTANCE READING ON THE DRIVER SEAT SIDE AIRBAG. HE STATED THAT I NEEDED THE FOLLOWING PARTS: WIRING HARNESS AND DRIVER'S SIDE IMPACT AIRBAG INFLATOR, TO FIX THE ISSUE.

IN OCTOBER 2015, I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IN A RURAL AREA, AND ACCELERATED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. MY PASSING SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH. I MERGED BACK INTO THE RIGHT LANE AFTER PASSING, AND LET MY FOOT OFF THE GAS. CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ENGAGED. THE CAR CONTINUED AT THE PASSING SPEED, AND STARTED TO INCREASE IN SPEED. I WAITED A FEW SECONDS TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN BEFORE TAKING EVASIVE ACTION; AS THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS ON THE HIGHWAY AT THIS POINT. FOR 4-5 SECONDS THIS CONTINUED. I TAPPED THE BRAKE AND NO CHANGE WAS DETECTED. I THEN TAPPED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL; AND THE SPEED DISENGAGED. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER; DIAGNOSTIC WAS RUN AND THEY COULD NOT DETECT A PROBLEM. DEALER WAS OF THE OPINION THAT THIS EVENT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE DRIVE TRAIN, THEY DROVE THE CAR BUT WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS ALL SEEMED TO INDICATE THAT CRUISE CONTROL WAS ON; HOWEVER I AM SURE IT WAS NOT.
PERIODICALLY AUTO WILL SURGE FORWARD (WITHOUT THE BENEFIT OF GAS PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED.) I MANAGED TO STOP BEFORE THERE WAS A CRASH. DEALER STATES THAT NO PROBLEMS LIKE THIS HAVE BEEN REPORTED. I AM CERTAIN THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE DEALER HAS STATED THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. I HAVE TO TRUST THAT THEY DID SOMETHING TO STOP THE SURGING (COMPUTER ADJUSTMENT??)
"TAKATA RECALL" WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE THE PUMP GAS NOZZLE WILL NOT STAY IN THE GAS FILLER HOLE. IT FALLS OUT EVERY TIME EITHER SPILLING GAS ON THE GROUND OR ON ME IF I STAND NEXT TO IT. I AM FORCED TO HOLD THE NOZZLE IN THE FILLER HOLE AT ALL TIMES TO AVOID THIS ISSUE.

DROVE MY 2014 6 CYLINDER GMC TERRAIN WITH ENGINE OIL LEVEL FILLED FOR 4 CYLINDER BEFORE DISCOVERY OF THE DANGEROUS OIL LEVEL. GMC IN DETROIT WAS NOTIFIED IN CERTIFIED LETTER AND LOCAL DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. NEITHER RESPONDED IN WRITING AS I REQUESTED.

DRIVER HAD STOPPED AT STOP SIGN ON THE EXIT RAMP AND AS SHE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE TO CROSSOVER TO APPROPRIATE LANE THE CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, REDUCED ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND CHECK STABILITY LIGHT LIT. THIS WAS IN A VERY DANGEROUS LOCATION AS THE SIDE ROAD THE DRIVER WAS LOCATED WAS AT THE BOTTOM OF A HILL, SO ONCOMING TRAFFIC WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STOP AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A T-BONE HIT FOR THE DRIVER AND HEAD ON FOR THE ONCOMING VEHICLE. THE CAR SLOWLY (VERY, VERY SLOWLY) MOVED FORWARD ENOUGH TO FINALLY GET ACROSS STREET AND TO A SAFE PLACE. ALTHOUGH NO ACCIDENTS OR INJURIES OCCURRED, IT WAS BY THE GRACE OF GOD THAT NO TRAFFIC WAS COMING OVER THE HILL. THIS HAD THE POTENTIAL AND HAS THE POTENTIAL OF BEING A DEADLY PROBLEM IF IT OCCURS AGAIN OR IF ANOTHER VEHICLE HAS THE SAME ISSUE. IMMEDIATELY HAD TOW TRUCK PICK UP CAR AND TAKE TO GMC DEALERSHIP. I AM AWAITING THE RESULTS FROM THE DEALERSHIP. GMC HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN #PI1314:CREAK/POPTYPE NOISE FROM RIGHT FRONT OF VEHICLE DURING LOW SPEED MANEUVERS-(SEPT.17,2014). THE FIX INVOLVES RIPPING UP CARPET AND CUTTING A HOLE APPROX. 1 FT. SQUARE IN FRONT WALL OF INTERIOR. THE SEAT HAS TO BE REMOVED . THE BLOWER MOTOR HAS TO BE REMOVED. THE RIGHT SIDE FRONT CONSOLE TRIM PLATE AND BODY HINGE TRIM PANEL, THEN CUTTING A HUGE HOLE IN THE WALL. I HAD A 2011 TERRAIN, WHICH I PURCHASED NEW AND I NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT ABS SYSTEM HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND A SOLENOID HAD NOT BEEN PROVIDED OXYGEN. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS A CABLE THAT HAD SEPARATED FROM THE MOTOR, WHICH NEEDED TO BE TIGHTENED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,484.
I WAS DRIVING HOME AFTER WORK AROUND 7PM GOING ABOUT 45-50 MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR BEGAN SLOWING DOWN AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES TO CATCH MY BREATH ON WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED BECAUSE THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A BAD ACCIDENT IF IT WERE MORE TRAFFIC. SINCE I WAS PULLED OVER I THOUGHT I WOULD TRY TO RESTART MY CAR. BEFORE I RESTARTED IT, I NOTICED THAT MY KEY IGNITION WAS STILL IN THE ON POSITION SO I TURNED IT BACK TO TAKE THE KEY OUT AND THEN IMMEDIATELY PLACED IT BACK IN AND TURNED IT TO SUCCESSFULLY RESTART THE CAR. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THIS CAR. I'VE HAD IT SINCE DEC. 2013 AND HAVE A LITTLE OVER 15K MILES. WHEN USING LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS, OVER HALF OF THE WINDSHIELD ( TOP DOWN) IS BLACKED OUT, CAUSING A RESTRICTED VISION. THERE IS A SLIGHT INCREASE IN VISION WHEN VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN ON AN UP HILL GRADE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE GMC DEALERSHIP FOR CORRECTION. SERVICE MANAGER DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND EXPERIENCED THE REPORTED PROBLEM. SOLUTION TO CORRECT THE RESTRICTED VISION,WAS TO ADJUST/RAISE THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS SO THEY WOULD SHINE HIGHER TO THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE BY STATE LAW. THIS ADJUSTMENT RAISED THE BLACK OUT LEVEL BY A VERY LIMITED LEVEL. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. THIS ADJUSTMENT NOW IS CAUSING ON COMING TRAFFIC AND TRAFFIC WE ARE FOLLOWING TO THINK THAT WE ARE USING OUR HIGH BEAM LIGHTS. CALLED GMC, THEIR REPLY WAS THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO CORRECT THE RESTRICTED VISION. THE PROBLEM IS EXPERIENCED AT ALL SPEEDS. HEAD LIGHT ADJUSTMENT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
