I have an outstanding recall on my 2014 Yukon. This recall is several years old. As far as I can tell nothing has been done on this recall. This is a safety recall! Previously I owned a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban with the same recall on it. I was told that no parts were available for the repair. I repeat this is a SAFETY recall!!! We had a wreck in the 2008 chevrolet suburban which deployed the airbags. Lucky for us the airbag worked properly. My wife was setting in the front passenger seat. If the igniter had exploded she would have been seriously injured or killed. We bought this Yukon from Carmax. The car came to us from Alabama. Hot and high humidity. As I understand it these are the conditions that make the igniter more likely to explode. Please do something on this recall.

Takata Recall. The contact owns a 2014 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the front passenger’s seat air bag warning light failed to illuminate randomly with or without a seated passenger. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or independent mechanic for diagnoses or repairs. The contact stated that he received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V054000 (Air Bags) in February of 2021. The dealer was contacted however, it was stated that the parts were not available to complete the recall repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE VEHICLE, BUT IS RATHER A KNOWN ISSUE DUE TO DESIGN DEFECTS WITH THE PCV SYSTEM, WHICH HAS NOT BEEN ADEQUATELY ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER. TSB 10-06-01-008M ADDRESSES THIS EXACT CONDITION. GMC HAS ADVISED ON THE APPROPRIATE CORRECTIVE ACTIONS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES, BUT STILL REQUIRES CUSTOMERS TO BEAR THE COSTS OF CORRECTING THE DEFECT. WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET THE 2014 GMC SIERRA 6.2 L V8 LOST POWER AND STARTED RUNNING ROUGH AS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION. I WAS ABLE TO STOP, AND REVERSE THE VEHICLE AWAY FROM THE INTERSECTION, TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING AND THE TRUCK SHUT DOWN, IT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART. THE TRUCK HAD UNDER 60,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME OF THE FIRST INCIDENT. IT WAS TOWED TO A GM DEALER SHOP FOR REPAIR. THIS FIRST INCIDENT TOOK PLACE IN AUGUST OF 2019. THE ROCKER ARM AND EXHAUST SPRING HAD TO BE REPLACED IN THE #2 CYLINDER, THE CYLINDER HEAD HAD TO BE REBUILT WITH A NEW HEAD. IN ADDITION THEY REPLACED 4 FUEL INJECTORS. IN DECEMBER OF 2019, A SECOND INCIDENT HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, THE ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH, I WAS CLOSE ENOUGH TO MY HOUSE TO GET IT HOME, PARK IT AND IT WAS TOWED TO A A CERTIFIED GM DEALER SHOP FOR REPAIR. THIS TIME IT HAD 61,752 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, THE NUMBER 5 SPRING BROKE. IT IS AT THE SHOP WAITING ON SPRING REPLACEMENT, THEY ARE IN BACKORDER, THERE IS NOT PROJECTED TIME THE REPAIR WILL BE COMPLETE.

I DID NOTHING TO MAKE THEM COME OFF, AND I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I CAN NOT USE IT TO DEFOG MY REAR GLASS AND TO HELP MELT THE SNOW AND ICE WHEN NEEDED. I NOTICED THE PIGTAILS WERE OFF WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND THEY WERE SWINGING AROUND IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR. GOING TO GIVE A ESTIMATE ON WHEN THIS HAPPENED INITIALLY, HAS BEEN GOING AND NOW DEALERSHIP WILL NO LONGER FIX.

I NOTICED A CRACK TO THE RIGHT OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND THEN LATER NOTICED A CRACK NEAR THE PASSENGER-SIDE FRONTAL AIRBAG WHEN MY SUV HAD ABOUT 59,000 MILES ON IT. THE CRACKS HAVE GROWN AND ARE NOW CAUSING COMPLETE SEPARATION. I TOOK MY YUKON TO EWING GMC ON 4/29/2019 WHERE THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW HOWEVER IT WASN;T CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE AND THUS NOT COVERED. THEY QUICKLY HANDED ME A $1200 QUOTE TO REPLACE IT. I DO NOT SEE HOW A SEPARATED DASH (ESPECIALLY NEAR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG) IS NOT A SAFETY CONCERN. IF MY PASSENGER AIRBAG GOES OFF WITH THE DASHBOARD IN THE STATE IT IS NOW, DANGEROUS SHARDS OF PLASTIC FROM THE DASHBOARD WILL GO FLYING AND BECOME POTENTIALLY LETHAL PROJECTILES.

THIS WILL BE THE 3RD TIME IN THE LAST 4 YEARS I HAVE EXPERIENCED MY YUKON XL 2004 MODEL COMPLETELY SHUTTING DOWN WHILE ALL 3 TIMES DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT A SPEED AVERAGE OF 65 MPH. WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. ALL 3 TIMES HAVE BEEN WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE OVER A 4 HOUR PERIOD FOR FAMILY VACATION. MOST RECENTLY WAS THIS PAST LABOR DAY WEEKEND. WE HAVE REPLACED SENSORS, FUEL PUMP, AND MOST RECENTLY HAD THE ENGINE REPLACED WHICH IS WHY I KNOW FOR CERTAIN IT CANNOT BE RELATED TO ANY OF THE ABOVE. THANKFULLY I WAS NEAR A EXIT RAMP EACH TIME AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY. ALL 3 TIMES I HAVE WAITED ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND THE CAR WILL START BACK UP -AND NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT.

I READ ONLINE THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2009-2014 GMC VEHICLES. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE IF AIRBAGS DEPLOY THERE COULD BE SHRAPNEL THROWN IN THE FACE OF DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS. THE DASH SHOULD IT BE DOING THIS IN A 4 YEAR OLD VEHICLE AND FROM WHAT I'VE READ GMC IS NOT WANTING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR MAKING A CHEAP PART. A RECALL SHOULD BE DONE TO MAKE THEM OWN UP TO THEIR PRODUCT. 2015 MODELS HAS A BETTER DASH INSTALLED BECAUSE OF ALL THE COMPLAINTS.

I CONTACTED EXTENDED WARRANTY EASY CARE PURCHASED THRU GM AND THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT ALSO. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF GM VEHICLES THAT THE DASH HAS CRACKED MY PREVIOUS VEHICLE A GM SIERRA CRACKED IN THE SAME PLACE AND NO RECALL HAS BEEN DONE OR BULLETIN TO ALARM CUSTOMERS. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT BY GM AND A SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE INJURY IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THERE ARE 2 CRACKS IN THE DASHBOARD, 1 ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL INSTRUMENT PANEL AND ONE AT THE CORNER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THEY APPEARED OUT OF NOWHERE AND WITHOUT ANY ACCOMPANYING MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH OR OTHER PHYSICAL CAUSE. I FOUND THE CRACKS AS I WAS WIPING THE DASHBOARD OFF WITH A MICROFIBER TOWEL. THE CRACK OVER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GREW APPROXIMATELY 3 INCHES WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE MY WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED (EXPIRED ON 12/06/2016) AND I WAS OVER THE WARRANTY MILEAGE (MY MILEAGE WAS 36180, WARRANTY ONLY GOOD FOR 36000) THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OVER $1800 + TAX TO REPLACE. I HAVE SEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND SIMILAR GM VEHICLES HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, AND WITH CRACKS IN THE EXACT SAME PLACE. THIS IS A VEHICLE DEFECT AND GIVEN THE FACT THAT IT'S SO CLOSE TO THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG PRESENTS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT THE WHOLE DASHBOARD COULD BE DISLODGED AND BECOME A FLYING HAZARD SHOULD THE AIRBAG INFLATE DURING A CRASH.

I HAVE REPLACED TWO DOOR HANDLES ON THIS VEHICLE. ONE UNDER WARRANTY AND ONE I HAD TO PAY TO $180.00 TO HAVE REPLACED AND IN BOTH CASE MY 6 YEAR OLD HAD THEM COME UNATTACHED FROM THE FRAME WHILE HE WAS TRYING TO GET IN. I HAVE OWNED THREE OF THESE VEHICLES AND IN THE FIRST MODEL YEAR 2010 THE DOOR HANDLE FELL OFF, IN THE 2012 MODEL YEAR THE DOOR HANDLE FELL OFF AS WELL. YOU WOULD THINK GM WOULD HAVE ADDRESSED IT IN THE SECOND MODEL YEAR BUT THEY DID NOT THE DEALERS, WHERE IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED SAY IT IS A DESIGN DEFECT, THE FASTENERS ARE UNDERSIZED TO HOLD THE HANDLE ONTO THE FRAME. ONE WOULD THINK THAT GM WOULD HAVE ADDRESSED THAT ONCE IT APPEARED TO BE FREQUENT EVENT. THE DEALERS NOW STOCK IT AS A REPLACEMENT PART. UPON CONTACTING GM THEY TOLD ME IF NHTSA DOES NOT THINK IT IS A PROBLEM WE ARE NOT GOING TO ADDRESS IT. THEY FINALLY CHANGED THE FASTENERS IN THE 2017 MODEL YEAR. YOU WOULD THINK THAT A DOOR HANDLE COMING OFF MIGHT BE DANGEROUS BUT MY CONTACT WITH A GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE EMPLOYEE DID NOT SEEM TO THINK IT WAS SERIOUS ENOUGH FOR GM TO ADDRESS AS A RECALL OR A POLICY EXCEPTION.. I THINK ANY CHILD WHO PULLS ON A DOOR HANDLE AND IT COMES OFF IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I AM APPALLED THAT GM HAS SUCH A CAVALIER ATTITUDE TOWARD SAFETY. THEY DO NOT WISH TO CALL IT A DESIGN FLAW WHILE ALL THE DEALERS THAT HAVE REPAIRED THE HANDLE FOR ME SAY IT IS.. I AM HOPING YOU WILL INVESTIGATE THIS BEFORE SOME CHILD PULLS ON THE HANDLE AND FALLS INTO THE ROAD INJURING THEMSELVES. DOOR HANDLES ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO FALL OFF A CAR AT ANY AGE. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO GMC ONLY TO BE TOLD IT'S COSMETIC AND WON'T BE COVERED, REGARDLESS OF WHAT I THINK OR THE CONCERNS I HAVE THE CASE IS CLOSED. THERE IS A FACEBOOK GROUP WITH OVER 6,500 FOLLOWERS THAT HAVE SIMILAR CONCERNS WITH ALL CONCERNS FALLING UPON DEAF EARS. I'M HOPING A RECALL CAN BE PUT INTO PLACE TO POTENTIALLY SAVE LIVES. I'M PRAYING PEOPLE DON'T HAVE TO DIE FOR THIS TO BE CONSIDERED A VALID ISSUE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE ISSUE, POOR MANUFACTURING, AIR BAG NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED, OR WHAT. AFTER SWITCHING TO PASSING LANE AND SEEING TRAFFIC IN LANE AT STANDSTILL I SWIFTLY JAMMED ON BRAKE PEDAL. BRAKES FAILED TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE STOPPING ABILITY AS THOUGH THEY WERE COATED WITH GREASE. DESPITE HAVING WELL IN EXCESS OF 100 FT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. REAR ENDED VEHICLE IN FRONT WITH ABOUT 12K IN DAMAGE TO FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. ORIGINAL ROTORS AND PADS WERE REPLACED AFTER EXPERIENCING SEVERE BRAKE FADING WHEN HOT PRIOR TO ACCIDENT. DRILLED AND SLOTTED RACING ROTORS WERE INSTALLED. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND PLACED BACK ON THE ROAD, I TESTED WITH THE SAME BRAKES WITH A HARD STOP FROM 80 MPH. THE BRAKES WORKED SO WELL THE FORCE OF THE STOP WAS PULLING ME OFF MY SEAT. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER, I WAS CUT OFF BY ANOTHER DRIVER ON THE HIGHWAY DOING ABOUT 40MPH LESS THAN I WAS. I JAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND AGAIN THERE WAS INSUFFICIENT BRAKING LIKE BEFORE EXCEPT NO COLLISION. ONCE MORE I TESTED AT A HARD BRAKE FROM 80 MPH AND AGAIN IT STOPPED EXTREMELY WELL. APPARENTLY THE FAILURE OF SUFFICIENT BRAKING CAME WITH APPLICATION OF ABS SYSTEM OTHERWISE THE STOPPING POWER WAS EXCEPTIONAL. I STRONGLY URGE INVESTIGATION OF GM ABS BRAKING. I AM A PROFESSIONAL DRIVER WITH IN EXCESS OF 4 MILLION MILES WITH ALL CLASSES OF VEHICLES IN ALL EXTREMES. THE WORST DAMAGE I EVER HAD ON THE HIGHWAY WAS A BROKEN HEADLIGHT IN 1975 UNTIL THIS ACCIDENT. THE ACCIDENT SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AS MY REACTION WAS TIMELY AND THE DISTANCE TO STOP MORE THAN ADEQUATE.
