THE WIRING HARNESS WHICH CONNECTS TO THE BRAKING SYSTEMS DOWN HILL AND TRACK, AND ABS BREAKING AND WARNING LIGHT OF ONCOMING CARS WHEN PASSING WIRES WHICH ARE MADE OF SOYBEAN BASED CAUSING WIRING TO BE EATEN BY RODENTS. SECOND TIME TO FIX ANOTHER $55 DOLLARS. THIS IS SCARING ME WHEN DRIVING.
MY VEHICLE STARTED RUNNING HOT, THE COILS WERE REPLACED, IT CONTINUED TO RUN HOT PERIODICALLY, THEN I HAD TO KEEP PUTTING WATER IN RADIATOR RESERVE CONTAINER AND MADE THIS BUBBLING NOISE WHEN I WAS DRIVING OR STOPPED WITH THE CAR RUNNING. THE STARTER WAS REPLACED. MY VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO CRANK AND EVENTUALLY THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND IT WOULDN'T CRANK AT ALL.

BLOWN THETA II GDI ENGINE AT 108,500 MILES... WELL-MAINTAINED CAR. CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND STARTED SHAKING ON THE HIGHWAY. A PISTON BROKE APPARENTLY. HYUNDAI WON'T REPAIR. I CAN SUBMIT REPORTS FROM THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I GET THEM.
ABS LIGHT ON, CAR WON'T SHIFT INTO GEAR, SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING THE DAY BEFORE, MISC LIGHTS LIT UP ON DASH. PER DEALER NEEDS BRAKE LAMP SWITCH
ON JULY 5, 2019, THE CAR SUDDENLY STALLED WHILE IN MOTION IN CITY DRIVING. I IMMEDIATELY ATTEMPTED TO RE-START THE CAR: IT DID NOT RESTART, NO CRANKING OF THE STARTER. I THEN PUSHED THE HAZARD LIGHT BUTTON: NO RESPONSE. THERE WAS NO ELECTRIC POWER, I.E., NO LIGHTS, NO RADIO, NO A/C, NO STEERING, ETC. AFTER 2 MINUTES, I RE-ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR, BUT IT DID NOT START, NO CRANKING. THE HAZARD LIGHT BUTTON THEN WORKED. ELECTRICITY CAME BACK ON. AAA CAME AND JUMPED THE BATTERY, BUT CAR NO START. CAR WENT TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. SERVICE MANAGER, THE ENGINE SEIZED BECAUSE OF MAJOR BREAKDOWN. "WE COULD NOT TURN THE ENGINE MANUALLY." HE STATED: "WE HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE IN OTHER HYUNDAI, BUT YOUR VEHICLE WAS NOT IN RECALL." PLEASE URGENTLY INVESTIGATE. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. IF I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, OR HIGH SPEED CITY DRIVING, THE SEIZED CAR COULD HAVE FLIPPED, ENDANGERING MYSELF, PASSENGERS AND OTHER NEARBY VEHICLES AND PEOPLE.
TAKATS RECALL THE HOOD AND ROOF OF THE WHITE PAINT IS CHIPPING AND CAUSING THE CAR TO RUST.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS BLINKING.
I'VE HAD MY HYUNDAI SINCE 2015, IT HAD 8,000 MILES WHEN WE PURCHASED IT. THE VEHICLE WAS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED. IT'S BEEN GREAT, WE'VE KEPT UP REGULAR MAINTENANCE. IT WAS REPAIRED FOR A RECALL LAST YEAR THAT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO SEIZE (THIS WAS BEFORE WE'D HAD AN ISSUE WITH IT). FAST FORWARD TO MID MAY, I'M DRIVING TO WORK AND IT SUDDENLY SLOWS DOWN AND BECOMES DISABLED. I PULL OFF INTO A PARKING LOT, HAVE IT TOWED TO MY LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP (KERRY HYUNDAI, FLORENCE KY). THEY GIVE ME A LONER VEHICLE AND TELL ME THE REPAIR HAS TO DO WITH THE RECALL AGAIN, A PART IS ORDERED AND 6 DAYS LATER I HAVE MY CAR BACK. THIS PAST WEEKEND MY FAMILY AND I WERE HEADED 6 HOURS AWAY FOR A LITTLE VACATION. WE'RE CLOSE TO OUR DESTINATION AND THE CAR BECOMES DISABLED AGAIN ON A VERY BUSY INTERSTATE IN A POOR WEATHER. THANKFULLY I COULD TELL THE WARNING SIGNS QUICKLY ENOUGH TO TRY TO SAFELY GET TO THE SHOULDER. WE GET A TOW FOR THE SECOND TIME IN A MONTH AND IT GOES TO THE NEAREST DEALER IN O'FALLON, IL. IT WAS A BIG ORDEAL BUT WE GOT A RENTAL CAR AND GOT OUR SANTA FE BACK WITHIN TWO DAYS. I AM TOLD THIS IS LIKELY TO HAPPEN AGAIN!! IN WHICH CASE MY ENGINE WILL NEED REPLACED. THEY SAY IT WILL BE FREE OF COST TO ME WHEN THE DAY COMES. I GUESS TIME WILL TELL. SO DISAPPOINTED AS WE'VE HAD MULTIPLE HYUNDAI'S AND STILL DO.
WHEN TAKING OFF WITH THE VEHICLE IT WILL DIE AND ALMOST COME TO A COMPLETE STOP THEN THE ENGINE PICKS BACK UP AND CONTINUES ON DOWN THE ROAD DOES THIS EVERY TIME YOU START AND STOP. WILL NOT GET ON 200 RPMS OR 60 MPH. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE HAD THE CAR IN THE SHOP FOR THE SAME ISSUE. FIRST TIME THEY KEPT MY CAR TWO MONTHS SAID IT WAS A WIRING ISSUE. 2000 MILES LATER DOES THE SAME EXACT THING ALMOST CAUSING ME TO GET IN A WRECK BECAUSE IT STARTS WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. CAR CURRENTLY BACK IN THE SHOP BEEN THERE NOW A WEEK HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM THEM.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ABOUT A WEEK AFTER THE DEALER SUPPOSEDLY FIXED TWO RECALLS WITH THE ENGINE ON MY 2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT BASE. SUDDENLY, AND WITHOUT ANY AUDIBLE WARNING, MY ECM LIGHT CAME ON AND MY VEHICLE STARTING LUNGING AND LURCHING FORWARD LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO STALL. I PULLED OVER AND READ THE MANUAL, AND IT NOTED THAT IT WAS THE ECM SENSOR AND THAT I SHOULD IMMEDIATELY DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, SO I DID. DRIVING THERE, I WAS ONLY ABLE TO MAINTAIN A SPEED OF 60 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE, WHICH PUT ME AND MY 8 -YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER IN DANGER FROM FASTER-DRIVING CARS, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT WAS A TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR. ANY TIME I STOPPED OR SLOWED DOWN, THE ENGINE WOULD SHUTTER LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO STALL AND THEN WOULD GET BETTER JUST PAST 10-20 MPH UNTIL I APPROACHED 60 AGAIN, WHERE IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AGAIN. WHEN I GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY IMMEDIATELY KNEW THE PROBLEM AND ORDERED A KNOCK SENSOR HARNESS. HOWEVER, IN READING THE VARIETY OF LAWSUITS, ISSUES, AND SERVICE CAMPAIGNS, IT APPEARS AS THOUGH HYUNDAI IS KNOWINGLY ALLOWING PEOPLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING CARS THEY KNOW ARE DEFECTIVE, THUS PUTTING US AND OUR CHILDREN'S LIVES IN JEOPARDY. THESE VEHICLES NEED TO BE RECALLED AND HAVE ALL OF THE ENGINES AND RELATED PARTS REPLACED, OR THEY NEED TO BUY THE VEHICLES BACK AT ORIGINAL MSRP SO WE CAN PURCHASE A FUNCTIONAL, SAFER VEHICLE.
SMELL MIXTURE OF GAS AND OIL AFTER I START THE ENGINE AND RUN FOR A WHILE AND RUN LIKE A DIESEL ENGINE AND THERE IS NO POWER AT ALL , THERE IS SMOKE CAME FROM THE DIP STICK AFTER I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE
DEALER OIL CHANGE WAS DONE, THE NEXT DAY ALL OF THE OIL LEAKED OUT OF MY CAR. HAD A SECOND OIL CHANGE. FOLLOWING WEEK ENGINE SEIZED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND HAS NOW SAT THERE FOR 2 MONTHS. BEING TOLD IT IS PART OF A RECALL.
NOTICED A VIBRATION WHEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, STOPPED AT A LES SCHWAB AND THE TIRE BELTS ON TWO OF THE FOUR TIRES HAD SEPARATED. WE WERE TOLD THAT WE COULDN'T LEAVE WITHOUT REPLACING ALL FOUR TIRES.
THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WHEN ACCELERATING TO GO ON INTERSTATE, IT JUST HAD NEW SOFTWARE PUT IN.I WENT TO THE DEALER RIGHT AWAY. THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT WORK ON IT TILL THE NEXT DAY. I CALLED HYUNDIA AND THEY KNOW ABOUT IT. IDO NOT THINK THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE ON THE STREET. THEY SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM WITH THE CONNECTING ROD, NOT SOFTWARE.
CAR WAS IN PARK AT TAKE OUT WINDOW, WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD WITHOUT MY PRESSING DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL. THE CAR WAS HARD TO CONTROL. I WAS ABLE TO PULL IT OVER AND STOP, WHEN I DID THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I SHUT IT OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES, STARTED IT UP, DROVE AROUND THE PARKING LOT SLOWLY AND IT SEEMED TO BE BACK TO NORMAL. THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON FOR 2 DAYS WHILE IT WAS PARKED IN MY YARD, NOT USING IT. I DROVE IT TO MY AUTOMOTIVE SHOP TO BE LOOKED AT AND WHILE DRIVING THERE, THE LIGHT WENT OUT. THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC ON IT AND FOUND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR WAS OUT AND SUGGESTED THE WHOLE PEDAL ASSEMBLY BE REPLACED. THEY SAID IT WAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AND WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. I HAD IT TOWED TO A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AS IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT FIND WHAT WAS WRONG AND TRIED TO RETURN THE CAR TO ME WITHOUT FIXING IT. I HAVE REFUSED TO PICK IT UP UNTIL IT IS FIXED TO PREVENT A FUTURE ACCIDENT OR INJURING SOMEONE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED. THE CAR WAS DROPPED OFF ON 2/25/19 AND THEY STILL HAVE IT TODAY ON 3/6/19, WITH NO COMMUNICATION FROM THEM SINCE 3/1/19 WHEN THEY TOLD ME TO COME AND GET IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BLIND SPOT DETECTION WAS FAULTY AND WOULD NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE CONTACT ALMOST CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN BECAUSE THE BLIND SPOT DETECTION SENSOR DID NOT SOUND WHEN CHANGING LANES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FITZGERALD GAITHERSBURG HYUNDAI (905 N FREDERICK AVE, GAITHERSBURG, MD 20879, (301) 670-4800) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIO NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED BECAUSE THE SENSOR WAS LOCATED IN THE RADIO. THE DEALER MADE MINOR REPAIRS, BUT DID NOT REPAIR THE SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND WAS WORKING WITH THE DEALER TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,670.
'TAKATA REACALL' AUTOMATIC ENGINE GEAR DOEN'T SHIFT PROPERLY. I TOOK IT TO A HYUNDAI DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE VEHICULE NEED A NEW ENGINE.
ABOUT 20 MINUTES AFTER PARKING MY VEHICLE AT AN OFFICE LOCATION, IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. I COULD SEE THE FIRE BY THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL, BETWEEN THE TIRE AND THE BODY; SMOKE WAS COMING FROM ALL AROUND THE HOOD. WE PUT OUT THE FIRE WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. WE COULD SEE DAMAGED WIRES. I HAD NOTICED WARNING LIGHTS ON MY DISPLAY PANEL WHEN I GOT INTO MY VEHICLE TO START DRIVING. I CALLED CLAY COOLEY HYUNDAI OF ROCKWALL AND INFORMED THEM OF THE MESSAGES: BEEPING FOLLOWED BY FLASHING MESSAGES ABOUT ABS, ESC, & DOWNHILL BRAKE CONTROL; PLUS DOWN BELOW WERE TWO RED CIRCLES (EXCLAMATION MARK IN ONE AND THE LETTER P IN THE OTHER) AND THE WORD BRAKE BELOW. I ASKED HYUNDAI IF THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY SAID YES. I PROCEEDED TO MY 12 NOON APPOINTMENT IN RICHARDSON, TX. ABOUT 20 MINS AFTER PARKING THE CAR, THE FIRE WAS NOTICED BY AN EMPLOYEE. THE DAY BEFORE THIS, ON TUE, 01-29-2019, I HAD NOTICED 3 AMBER WARNING LIGHTS (ABS, ESC & DBC). I CALLED HYUNDAI, INFORMED THEM OF THIS AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THUR JAN 31, 2019 AT 9:30 A.M.
THE CAR STRAINS TO MOVE AT SPEEDS AS LOW AS 25MPH. I ALREADY HAD MY ENGINE REPLACED, BUT THE SAME THING IS BEGINNING AGAIN. AT TIME IT FEELS LIKE IT WILL SHUT OFF WHEN MOVING FROM BEING STATIONARY. THE CAR IS ALSO GUZZLING OIL. IF I DON'T PUT OIL IN EVERY COUPLE WEEKS, IT SOUNDS AND FEELS LIKE IT WILL SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. CARS BEHIND ME SOMETIMES GET MAD, BUT WHAT CAN I DO?
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, I NOTICED A RATTLING/KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, UNDER THE HOOD. THE NOISE KEPT GETTING LOUDER, SPECIFICALLY AS THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. I NOTICED THAT THE RPMS WOULD INCREASE, WITH NO INCREASE IN SPEED & EVEN A DECREASE IN SPEED. DURING THIS TIME THE CAR WAS USING CRUISE CONTROL AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH. AS I NOTICED THE KNOCKING NOISE GETTING LOUDER, I TAPPED THE BRAKES & THE VEHICLE'S SPEED DRAMATICALLY DECREASED TO APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. I TRIED TO SPEED THE VEHICLE UP & THE RPMS INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY, WHILE THE VEHICLE SPEED DID NOT. I THEN PUT MY FLASHERS ON TO SIGNAL THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE & THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, ALONG WITH OTHER SERVICE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE'S STEERING CAPACITY WAS TIGHT & THE RIDE BECAME EXTREMELY BUMPY AS THE SPEED DECREASED. AFTER ABRUPTLY STOPPING ON THE SHOULDER OF THE INTERSTATE, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SMELL LIKE SOMETHING WAS BURNING. I COULD SMELL THIS IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE & THE NOTICED THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD OF THE CAR. THE ENGINE SHUT OFF, BUT THEN BEGAN TO TRY & TURN ON, WITH THE LIGHTS STARTING & THE START UP MUSICAL SOUND PLAYING. IT WOULD TURN ON & OFF 3 - 4 TIMES, SO I THEN REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE VEHICLE, STEPPED OUT & BACKED AWAY. THE SMOKE, THANKFULLY, SEEMED TO DISSIPATE AFTER 20 MINUTES. FIRE & POLICE ARRIVED ON THE SCENE & DID NOT FIND ANY FIRE, BUT DID SMELL THE BURNING SMELL I NOTICED IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. UNFORTUNATELY, WE NEVER COULD GET THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE TO CRANK AGAIN & ENDED UP HAVING IT TOWED BACK TO OUR LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP.
TAMARA RECALL I HAVE A 2014 HYUNDAI SANTE FE SPORT, THE PAINT HAS STARTED TO CHIP ON THE FRONT PART OF THE HOOD.
2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT- BRAKE LIGHT/ ABS LIGHT/ HILL DESCENT CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON IN VEHICLE AND AFTER A DAY OR TWO NEVER TURNED OFF. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS ASKED TO MAKE APPOINTMENT. THE NEXT DAY A TRIANGLE WITH EXCLAMATION POINT LIGHT TURNED ON ALONG WITH A STEERING WHEEL WITH EXCLAMATION POINT LIGHT AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME LOOSE AT THIS TIME. DROVE MYSELF HOME AND AFTER PARKING I TURNED VEHICLE OFF BUT THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO MAKE HUMMING NOISES LIKE SOMETHING WAS STILL RUNNING. RESTARTED CAR AND THEN TURNED OFF ENGINE AGAIN AND THE NOISE STOPPED. I WENT INSIDE MY HOUSE AND LESS THAN 5 MINUTES LATER THERE WAS A LOUD BANGING ON MY FRONT DOOR- A NEIGHBOR THAT RAN UP TO INFORM ME MY CAR WAS ON FIRE. I COMPLETED REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON THIS VEHICLE AND IT ONLY HAD 35,000 MILES. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS SITUATION SO THAT NO OTHERS GO THROUGH THIS DEVASTATING SITUATION THAT I FACED TODAY.
MY 2014 SANTA FE SPORT STARTING MAKING A CRAZY RATTLE NOISE FROM THE ENGINE IN 2016. JUST 2 YEARS AFTER I HAD PURCHASED IT NEW. AFTER A FEW TRIPS TO THE DEALER THEY KEPT TELLING ME THEY DON'T HEAR ANYTHING. IT MAKES THE NOISE AFTER THE CAR IS COMPLETELY WARMED UP AND SITTING STILL. WHEN I AM DRIVING I CAN NOT HEAR IT AGAIN UNTIL I SLOW DOWN. EVERY STOP LIGHT, STOP SIGN OR IN PARKED IT MAKES A NOISE. ONCE I HEARD ABOUT THE RECALL I HAVE WENT TO THE SHOP A FEW MORE TIMES ONLY TO BE TOLD IT IS FINE AND NORMAL NOISES OR THEY DON'T HEAR ANYTHING. FINALLY I GOT THEM TO "REPLACE" THE ENGINE AFTER WORKING UP A COMPLAINT WITH HYUNDAI CORPORATE. THE DAY AFTER I PICKED MY CAR UP THE NOISE IS STILL THERE. THE ONLY ANSWER I HAVE GOT IT THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT IS. IT IS NORMAL. IF, IN FACT I GOT A NEW ENGINE LIKE THE RECALL SAYS SHOULDN'T IT NOT MAKE A SOUND? I AM NOT SURE WHAT THEY "FIXED" BUT, TO ME IT WASN'T THE WHOLE ENGINE AS THEY ARE CLAIMING IT IS. I AM SCARED NOW TO EVEN DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AFTER READING THEY CATCH ON FIRE AND JUST STOP WHILE DRIVING.
HYUNDAI REPLACED ENGINE CLAIMING IT WAS A NEW ENGINE EVEN THOUGH IT WAS ACTUALLY A REFURBISHED ENGINE. THIS ENGINE WAS PUT IN BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL ENGINE FROM MY 2014 HYUNDAI SANATE FE SPORT 2.0T HAS SEIZED AND COMPLETELY LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. A COUPLE THOUSAND MILES AFTER THIS 'REFURBISHED' ENGINE HAD BEEN OUT IN AFTER DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I STARTED TO HEAR SOME RATTLING FOLLOWED BY A LOUD POP (SOUNDED LIKE A SMALL BOMB GOING OFF), I LOOK OUT MY REAR VIEW WINDOW BECAUSE SOMETHING HAD CUT MY EYE AND I PROCEED TO SEE SMOKE COMING OUT THE REAR VIEW WINDOW. I OBVIOUSLY NEED TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, SO I GO TO GIVE THE CAR SOME GAS TO MERGE OVER A COUPLE OF LANES TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE AND THE SAME THING HAPPENS AS BEFORE WHEN THEY PUT THE 'REFURBISHED' ENGINE IN (CAR ENGINE LOCKS UP AND I HAVE NO POWER SO I HAVE TO GLIDE ON OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY). ONCE I DO THAT, I CALL THE SERVICE ADVISOR AT HYUNDAI OF FLORENCE (WHERE THE 'REFURBISHED' ENGINE WAS PUT IN) AND MENTION TO HIM I'M STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AGAIN. AS I CO TO HE SPEAKING TO HIM I NOTICE THE HOOD OF MY CAR IS STARTING TO MELT. I QUICKLY GET OUT AND START TAKING PICTURES/VIDEOS (FOR PROOF TO SHOW HYUNDAI/INSURANCE) AND WITHIN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME, MY CAR IS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES!
INCIDENT OCCURRED ON I-65. MY HUSBAND AND I WERE TRAVELING HOME FROM A QUICK ROAD TRIP. WHILE PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE AT 75MPH, OUR SANTE MADE A WEIRD NOISE, THEN LOUD SOUND AND WENT DEAD. MY HUSBAND FOUGHT TO CONTROL THE CAR, BARELY AVOIDED A POSSIBLE FATAL CRASH. WE CALLED HYUNDAI ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND WAS TOLD THEY ONLY TOW 47 MILES. THE NEAREST DEALER WAS 50 MILES AWAY. WE WERE LEFT STRANDED, NO SERVICE OR TOW TRUCK FROM HYUNDAI SHOWED UP. HAD TO CALL FAMILY TO COME GET US (NEARLY 3 HOURS AWAY). WE HAD TO RENT A UHAUL AUTO TRANSPORT AND TRUCK TO RECOVER OUR CAR ON THE SIDE OF I-65, HEADING TO OUR HOMETOWN, WE WERE STRANDED IN VERBENA, AL. HYUNDAI FINALLY TOWED CAR TO DEALERSHIP ONCE IN HOMETOWN, WAS TOLD BY SERVICE TECH THAT OUR CAR HAD "CATASTROPHIC ENGINE DAMAGE AND A NEW ENGINE HAS BEEN ORDERED, AT NO CHARGE, DUE TO OUR CAR WAS PART OF THE RECALL. WAS TOLD WE "MIGHT" BE REIMBURSED FOR OUR INCURRED EXPENSE OF HAVING TO TOW THE CAR OURSELVES. WE PURCHASED THE CAR BRAND NEW, WITH AN ADDED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE PACKAGE, WHICH WE WERE ASSURED WE'D NEVER BE STRANDED, WHICH PROVED A USELESS SALES PLOY. 3 DISABLED PERSONS AND A HIGHWAY PATROL OFFICER HAD TO MANUALLY LOAD THE CAR ONTO THE AUTO TRANSPORT, ONE OF WHICH FELL ON THE ROAD AND CUT THEIR KNEE. WHY IS ADDITIONAL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE OFFERED WHEN THE DEALERSHIP NEGLECTED TO INFORM US THAT THERE WAS ONLY A 47 MILE TOWING RADIUS. WE WERE ASSURED THAT "WE'D BE COVERED NO MATTER WHERE WE MIGHT TRAVEL. WE HAVE A RENTAL, WHICH RESULTED IN US PAYING A DEPOSIT OUT OF OUR OWN POCKET, "THAT SHOULD BE REFUNDED UPON RETURN OF THE RENTAL". FULL REIMBURSEMENT AND OR A NEW CAR SHOULD BE OFFERED, DUE TO THE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE DAMAGE (THE TERM THE HYUNDAI SERVICE TECH USED) THAT OCCURRED TO OUR 2014 SANTA FE SPORT WITH LESS THAN 53,000 MILES. THANKS HYUNDAI ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FOR LEAVING US STRANDED.
I HAD 2 ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE AND I BELIEVE THAT THESE MIGHT BE A COMMON RECALL ISSUE. THE BACK UP CAMERA ON MY HYUNDAI SANTA FE 2014 SPORT STOPPED WORKING ENTIRELY I COULD STILL DRIVE MY CAR BUT IT THE SCREEN TURNS BLUE WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE. AND I HAD ANOTHER ISSUE I USED MY EMERGENCY BREAK IN MY CAR AND THE BREAKS JAMMED, I DID DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE IT WASN'T COMPLETELY LOCKED UP IT WAS JAMMED AND IT CAUSED MY REAR BREAKS AND ROTORS TO GET SO HOT THAT THEY WERE SMOKING, AT THAT POINT I DID HAVE TO GET MY CAR TOWED BECAUSE I DODNT WANT TO RISK A FIRE.
SE COMPR EL VEHCULO HA TENIDO DOS RECALL SE HA LLEVADO A TODOS LOS MANTENIMIENTOS RUTINARIOS AHORA AIRBAG LIGHT SUPUESTAMENTE NO SURVEN LOS AIRBAGS AND A /C PRENDE CUANDO LE DA LA GANA YA ESTAMOS CANSADO DE AGUANTAR LOS MALOS SERVICIOS DE LA HYUNDAI
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON A RAMP TO ENTER A TURNPIKE, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. WHEN THE CONTACT SLOWLY DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO A SERVICE STATION AND WAS TOWED TO SUSSMAN HYUNDAI & GENESIS (1645 EASTON ROAD, WILLOW GROVE, PENNSYLVANIA 19090, (215) 392-9020). THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO A TIMING JUMP AND AN EXCESS OF SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE. THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT THE ENGINE SLUDGE CAUSED THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
THE TRUCK SMELL LIKE BURN AND IS NOT GIVE POWER AND FEELS LIKE SHAKING AND PUSHING
CAR JERKS ON ACCELERATION.
MY CAR STARTED MAKING A WEIRD HUMMING SCREECHING NOISE AND THEN THE NEXT DAY IT WOULD NOT START. FOUND OUT THE BEARINGS HAVE FAILED AND CAUSED COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. ITS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH YOUR 2011-2013 MODELS SO THE 2014 SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL. WE HAVE SPENT TONS OF MONEY KEEPING THE CAR UPDATED ON MAINTENANCE FOR COLLEGE AND THIS IS COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE FOR A 2014 TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE FIRST NOISE WAS NOTICED THEN PARKED IMMEDIATELY THANK GOODNESS AT HER DORM WHERE THE CAR, THEN WOULD NOT START THE NEXT DAY AND WAS TOWED.
THE CAR WILL NOT STAY ALIGNED. EVERY 1,000 MILES OR SO, THE STEERING GETS WILDLY OUT OF ADJUSTMENT AND CAUSES THE CAR TO DRIFT ALL OVER THE ROAD. IT IS FRIGHTENING TO DRIVE, ESPECIALLY IN DENSE TRAFFIC AT HIGHWAY SPEED. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT LINE WITH THE CAR. AT TIMES, THE STEERING WHEEL MUST BE AIMED FAR TO THE LEFT TO GO STRAIGHT. MOMENTS LATER, WITH NO WARNING, THE CAR DIVES TO THE LEFT AND THE WHEEL MUST BE HELD TO THE RIGHT. 'STRAIGHT' ON THE STEERING WHEEL IS NEVER STRAIGHT ON THE ROAD. THIS CONDITION IS HIGHLY INCONSISTENT AND SEEMS IRREPARABLE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN ALIGNED 8+ TIMES BY DIFFERENT SHOPS AND IT CONTINUES TO 'RESET ITSELF' BACK TO THIS NEARLY UNDRICEABLE CONDITION. THE FIRST INSTANCE WAS AT 4,100 MILES. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 51,000 MILES. THE CONDITION IS THE SAME REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED, ROAD SURFACE, ROAD TYPE, OR CROWN IN THE ROADWAY. YOU CAN HEAR MANY CREAKS AND SOUNDS AND FEEL THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE FLEXING SIGNIFICANTLY AS YOU DRIVE. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THERE IS A STRUCTURAL DEFECT MAKING THE CAR UNSAFE TO OPERATE BOTH FOR THE STEERING AND SUSPENSION SYMPTOMS AND ALSO REGARDING ITS CRASHWORTHINESS.
I PURCHASED USED 2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT ON 8/31/2016 WITH CASH. IN FEBRUARY 2018 WHILE DRIVING IN HIGH SPEED LANE ACCELERATING TO PASS THE RPMS WENT RED AND LOUD BANG, WITH SMOKE FILLING CABIN THROUGH VENTS. I WAS ABLE TO CROSS 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC RUN AWAY FROM CAR CALLED HYUNDAI 24HR TOWING. THEY QUICKLY PICKED ME UP AND CAR GAVE ME KEYS TO LOANER NO QUESTIONS ASKED, THEN IN1 WEEK THEY GAVE CAR BACK WITH BRAND NEW 2017 ENGINE. I WAS THRILLED. THEN ON JULY 10 DRIVING UP HILL SAW SMOKE IN REAR VIEW MIRROR GOING ABOUT 35 MPH. I WENT TO PULL OVER AND HEAD HOME BUT BRAKES WENT TO FLOOR AND POWER STEERING WAS SHOT. I WHIPPED IT INTO PARK AND LOOKED UP TO ENTIRE WINDSHIELD BLOCKED WITH BLACK SMOKE AND ORANGE FLAMES. I GRABBED MY PURSE AND COULDN'T GET OUT BECAUSE I HAD FORGOTTEN ABOUT SEATBELT. UNDID THAT GRABBED PHONE AND SPRINTED FOR MY LIFE AS THERE WERE NUMEROUS EXPLOSIONS. VEHICLE BURNED TO FRAME. IT WAS STILL UNDER BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY BUT THE BUMPERS WERE GONE! THANKS BE TO GOD THAT MY HANDICAPPED HUSBAND HAD DECLINED TO COME WITH ME. I HAD A RENTAL FROM INSURANCE AT NO COST, HYUNDAI WANTS ALL PAPERWORK ON CAR WHICH BURNED WITH IT.
ON 7/17/18, MY SUNROOF SHATTERED WITHOUT WARNING, WHILE GOING THE SPEED LIMIT, 55MPH. THERE WERE NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME AND NOTHING ABOVE ME. THE GLASS PROJECTED OUTWARD, CONFIRMING THAT NOTHING FELL FROM THE SKY OR CAME UP FROM THE ROAD AS GLASS WOULD HAVE BLOWN DOWN OR TO THE REAR IF IT HAD BEEN IMPACTED BY AN OBJECT. I HAVE FILED A REPORT WITH HYUNDAI'S NATIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AND FILING A COMPLAINT HERE IN HOPES SOMETHING IS DONE ABOUT THIS SCARY ISSUE. RESEARCH HAS SHOWN MULTIPLE REPORTS AND A LAWSUIT OF THIS HAPPENING, UNPROVOKED AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OF SERIOUS HARM IF NOT INVESTIGATED. THANKFULLY THE LINER PROTECTED ME FROM THE FALLING GLASS AND THE CAR BEHIND ME SLOW DOWN AFTER THE EXPLOSION IF GLASS ALLOWING ME TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY SAFELY. PLEASE INVESTIGATE BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED FROM THIS UNEXPECTEDLY HAPPENING TO THEM. CAR MANUFACTURERS NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.
AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE 15 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY, WE DROVE ON RESIDENTIAL STREET FOR ABOUT 1.5 MILES. AS I WAS TURNING INTO A PARKING STRUCTURE THE ENGINE STOPPED AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. I GLIDED THE VEHICLE TO A RED ZONE NO PARKING AREA ON THE STREET AND STOPPED THE VEHICLE. BLACK SMOKE QUICKLY APPEARED FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND FLAMES QUICKLY APPEARED. THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE SOON BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES SHOOTING 4-6 FEET HIGH. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND SPRAYED THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WITH A FOAM FIRE RETARDANT. THEN THEY CUT THE HOOD LATCH AND OPEN THE HOOD. THE ENTIRE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, WINDSHIELD AND THE FRONT PASSENGER AREA WERE COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS MELTED TO THE STREET AND THE TOW DRIVER HAD TO SMASH IT LOOSE.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED THE CAR AND NOTICED THE BACK PASSANGER DOOR DOES NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. THE LEFT SIDE OPENS FROM THE INSIDE BUT NOT THE RIGHT SIDE. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE IT TO A HYUNDAI DEALER TO SEE IF THEY COULD HELP. HAVEN'T DONE SO YET, BUT WANTED TO KNOW IF YOU COULD HELP FIRST WITH INSTRUCTIONS. VEHICLE WAS NOT IN MOTION AND MOTOR WAS TURNED OFF.
CAR ALARM SYSTEM REPEATEDLY AND RANDOMLY GOES OFF WHILE STATIONARY IN DRIVEWAY WITHOUT PROVOCATION OR INTERFERENCE OF ANY TYPE. REASON(S) UNKNOWN TO MECHANICS.
ENGINE LACKS POWER AND IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE, ISSUE IS REPEATABLE WHEN IN ECO MODE AND ENGINE WILL LOSE ALL POWER AND TAKE 40 SECONDS OR MORE TO REACH 60MPH. HAPPENS IN NON-ECO MODE AS WELL. IF YOU TURN OFF VEHICLE AND TURN BACK ON, PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY FOR AWHILE AND RETURN. PEOPLE HAVE SAID IT IS AN ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRONIC WASTEGATE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO LOSE POWER AND BECOME DANGEROUS FOR TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP INTO TRAFFIC/ TYPICAL CITY DRIVING. WE HAVE TAKEN IT INTO HYUNDAI 9 TIMES AND THEY HAVE REPLACED THE PCM, TURBO, PROGRAMMING AND VARIOUS OTHER THINGS TRYING TO SOLVE THE ISSUE AND THERE IS CURRENTLY STILL NO SOLUTION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE ENGINE SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO RICART HYUNDAI IN COLUMBUS, OHIO WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT METAL SHAVINGS WERE DEPOSITED INTO THE ENGINE, WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V226000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
I OWNED A 2014 SANTA FE SPORT. IT WAS BLOWING BLACK SMOKE OUT OF THE EXHAUST. I WOULD BRING IT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THEY WOULD TELL ME THE OIL WAS BONE DRY. THEY COULD NOT SEE WHERE THE OIL LEAK WAS, I HAD NO SPOTS IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE LOW OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. THE TIME BETWEEN OIL CHANGE AND NO OIL LEFT WAS ABOUT 3 WEEKS. I BROUGHT IT IN, THEY TOLD ME I HAD AN OIL CLOG AND NEEDED A NEW MOTOR. I FILLED IT WITH OIL AND DROVE IT HOME. THE NEXT DAY I WAS DRIVING IT TO MY MECHANIC, STOPPED AT A CONVIENANCE STORE ON THE WAY. SHUT OFF THE MOTOR, WHILE IN LINE, SOMEONE YELLED, "YOUR CAR IS ON FIRE" I LOOKED OUT IT WAS FULLY INGOLFED FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE UNDER THE HOOD. A COMPLETE LOSS, AND HYUNDAI WOULD NOT STAND BEHIND IT. 3 MONTHS LATER, GOT A "RECALL NOTICE" SAID "ENGINE" THE HYUNDAI HAD 42 THOUSAND MILES. EVERY WHERE I LOOK FOR A RECALL NOTICE ON THIS VEHICLE CAN'T SEEM TO FIND THE ONE I AM REFERENCING EXCEPT ON THIS SITE. AFTER 17 ENGINE COMPLAINTS, WHY ARE THERE NO INVESTIGATIONS, OR CLASS ACTION SUITS? OH AND THE "BLUE LINK" MONTHLY REPORTS NEVER REPORTED ANYTHING WRONG. EVEN AFTER THE FIRE, THE REPORT REPORTED THAT ALL SYSTEMS WERE GOOD EVEN MY TIRE PRESSURE. FUNNY, BECAUSE I WATCHED THOSE BLOW UP!
ENGINE STARTED TO MAKE CLICKS AND CAR IMMEDIATELY STALLED GETTING OFF THE FREEWAY. HAD TO BE STOPPED, PARKED BEFORE I REGAINED ENGINE POWER. THIS HAPPENED AROUND 22,800 MILES. HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE WAY TO DEALER AND WITH DEALER SERVICE STAFF. DIAGNOSED AS DEFECTIVE TURBO ASSEMBLY THAT WAS REPLACED. SHORTLY AFTER I PICKED THE CAR FROM THE SHOP, I NOTICED SAME CLICKING NOISE AGAIN AND CAR ALSO ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN WHEN MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE BREAK. THIS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CAR RETURNED TO THE SHOP AND I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS DAMAGE IN THE ENGINE AND THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP THE CAR I NOTICED OIL DRIPPING BELOW IT. CAR WAS INSPECTED AGAIN AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY IS CRACKED AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR IS STILL AT THE SHOP.

ON 11/13/17 I DROPPED MY VEHICLE OFF AT A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND TO ASK HIM TO TRY AND DIAGNOSES THE KNOCKING NOISE. THE MECHANIC REPORTED BACK THAT HE THOUGHT IT WAS A BEARING WITHIN THE MOTOR DID NOT RECOMMEND ME DRIVING THE VEHICLE AS IT COULD POTENTIALLY BLOW OUT THE SIDE OF THE ENGINE BLOCK AND SEIZE THE MOTOR COMPLETELY. AT THIS POINT I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. THE DIAGNOSTIC RESULTED IN THE DEALERSHIP INFORMING US THAT THAT MY ENTIRE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP REACHED OUT TO HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA IN AN ATTEMPT TO TRY AND HAVE THE ENGINE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL NOTICE. THIS REQUEST WAS ULTIMATELY DENIED BECAUSE I WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND THEREFORE WAS NOT ENTITLED TO THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY BUT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT MY VIN DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL FROM EARLIER IN 2017 FOR THIS ISSUE. THE RECALL WAS RELEASED EARLIER IN 2017 FOR THE 2.4 MOTOR IN 2013 AND 2014 SONATA AND SANTA FE SPORT VEHICLES. THEY WERE BEING RECALLED DUE TO ENGINE FAILURES CAUSED BY A MACHINING ISSUE THAT CAUSED BEARING WEAR AND THEN PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURE. I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT ON THE RECALLED LIST AND THEREFORE WOULD NOT BE COVERED AND THAT WAS ALL THE INFORMATION ANYONE COULD PROVIDE TO ME. UPON ATTEMPTING TO ESCALATING MY CONCERNS AT THE DEALERSHIP LEVEL WAS WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DONE AND I WAS INSTRUCTED TO REACH OUT TO HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA AND FILE A CASE AND REPORT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP.I WAS INFORMED BY THE AGENT AT HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA THAT MY CASE WAS ALREADY MARKED AS A FINAL DECISION AND THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE ONLY THING I COULD DO WAS REACH OUT TO HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA VIA EMAIL OR WRITTEN LETTER. THE ESTIMATE TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE WITH A REFURBISHED MOTOR IS $7,867.66 OR A TRADE IN VALUE OF $3000.
TAKATA RECALL, I WAS FAILED TO BE NOTIFIED ABOUT THE RECALL ON MY VEHICLE FOR MY HOOD LATCH BEING DEFECTIVE. JUNE 5, 2017 WAS WHEN THEY HAD DETERMINED THE RECALL BUT NEVER NOTIFIED ME. I RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL FROM A LAWYER ABOUT TAKATA HAVING A RECALL ON AIRBAGS, SO I DECIDED TO CHECK ANY RECALL INFORMATION ONLINE ON 10/27/17 AND FOUND THAT IT WAS NOT THE AIRBAG BUT IT WAS THE HOOD LATCH THAT IS BEING RECALLED. THE INFORMATION IS STATING THE HOOD LATCH WILL BECOME LOOSE AND CAUSE THE HOOD TO OPEN WILL DRIVING WHICH IS VERY HAZARDOUS CONSIDERING I HAVE A NEWBORN ON BOARD. THE RECALL NUMBER IS NHTSA 17V358000, MANUFACTURER 163
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A SHRIEKING NOISE AND SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TOWED TO HYUNDAI OF SLIDELL IN SLIDELL, LA, 985-641-0671. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT A PIECE OF METAL WAS IN THE OIL AND CLOGGED THE ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V358000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000. *BF UPDATED 7/27/18*JB *AS
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 75 MILES AN HOUR WHEN MY ENGINE JUST SEIZED UP AND SHUT DOWN. IT WOULDN'T START BACK UP. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER AND I HAVE METAL SHAVINGS IN MY OIL PAN AND MY ENGINE IS SEIZED UP. THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS MAKE, MODEL AND ENGINE FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM BUT THE RECALL DATES ARE FROM 6/28/2012- 6/31/2014 AND MY CAR WAS PRODUCED ON 6/9/2014. 9 DAYS OUTSIDE THE RECALL WINDOW AND THEY ARE NOT COVERING MY CAR OR MY CLAIM. THE DEALER EVEN SAID I HAD THE PROBLEM THAT WAS IN THE RECALL AND THEY DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY HYUNDAI ISN'T COVERING IT. MY CAR CLEARLY HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN 162 AND HYUNDAI ISN'T COVERING IT.
MY VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN THE ENGINE RECALL WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN DUE TO ENGINE FAILURE. AFTER HAVING THE ENGINE REPLACED BY A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP, THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO INTERMITTENTLY LOOSE POWER WITHOUT NOTICE. ALTHOUGH, THE TACHOMETER READS 7000 RPM, THE SPEED IS 20 MPH WITH THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR BOARDS. THIS HAPPENS WITHOUT NOTICE AND HAS HAPPENED ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS WITH CARS SPEEDING BUY! WE HAVE TO PULL OVER AND SHUT IT OFF AND THEN RESTART. THEN IT WILL BE FINE TIL NEXT THE NEXT TIME. THE LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL THINGS. IT IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM.
WHILE ON A FAMILY ROAD TRIP, MY SANTA FE STARTED CLATTERING AND MAKING NOISE. IT HAD BEEN RUNNING FINE AND NO INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE ON. THE CAR JUST QUIT IN THE MIDDLE AND WE HAD TO COAST TO SAFETY ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE WE WAITED FOR HOURS FOR HYUNDAI ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO TOW US TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THE ENGINE IS BLOWN DUE TO A RECALL. IT HAS NOW BEEN LONGER THAN 60 DAYS AND HYUNDAI DOES NOT HAVE AN ENGINE TO REPLACE IT. I HAVE LEARNED THAT THERE IS NOW A SECOND RECALL INVOLVING A FAULTY HOOD LATCH WHICH IS ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE MADE A CLICKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. FURTHERMORE, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER COMPLETELY AND THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO PUENTE HILLS HYUNDAI LOCATED IN INDUSTRY, CALIFORNIA. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THE CONTACT WOULD BE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V226000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING), WHICH HE STATED WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE FAILURE AS OUTLINED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,879.
THIS VEHICLE IS SUPPOSED TO BE A PART OF A MAJOR RECALL WHICH WAS TO HAVE BEGAN IN MAY OF 2017. IT IS NOW JULY AND NOT A WORD FROM HYUNDAI OR THE DEALER. I THINK THEY ARE SOMEHOW HOPING THIS WILL GO AWAY, BUT REPLACING AN ENGINE IS A MAJOR ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V226000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); HOWEVER, THE PART FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE WISUP HYUNDAI DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY VEHICLE EXHIBITS ALL OF THE ISSUES ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 17V-226. I HAVE CONTACTED HYUNDAI NUMEROUS TIMES AND MY REQUESTS KEEP GETTING IGNORED. I DON'T KNOW WHAT COURSE OF ACTION I CAN PURSUE FROM THIS POINT FORWARD. I CAN BE REACHED AT [XXX] OR [XXX]. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
I HAVE RECENTLY RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FROM HYUNDAI FROM NATIONAL TRAFFIC AND MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY ACT FOR THE HYUNDAI SANTE FE SPORT 2014, SUV. THE PROBLEM ON THE LETTER STATES THERE ARE PROBLEMS IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THE ENGINE, PRE-MATURE BEARING WEAR IN THE MOTOR AND THE BEARING CAN FAIL, AND VEHICLE COULD STALL WHILE IN MOTION, INCREASING RISK OF CRASH. I AM TAKING THE VEHICLE TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP TODAY. THE VEHICLE IS MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE THAT INCREASES IN FREQUENCY AS THE ENGINE RPM INCREASES. I DRIVE THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY SO THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND JUST STARTED TO HEAR IT LAST NIGHT. IT HAS STARTED TO REDUCE POWER WHEN GAS IS ACCELERATED AND RPM INCREASE AND HESITATION OF VEHICLE MOVING FORWARD WHEN PUSHING DOWN ON GAS PEDAL. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND I AM A MOTHER OF A 4 YEAR OLD SON, WE BOUGHT THE CAR ORIGINALLY FOR SAFETY. I AM DISSAPOINTED IN THIS VEHICLE AS IT WAS UNSAFE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY TO DRIVE IN. I ALSO UTILIZE THE VEHICLE FOR WORK AND IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I WILL ALSO HAVE TO DEAL WITH FIGURING OUT TRANSPORTATION WHEN DEALING WITH HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. I AM UNCLEAR OF THE OUTCOME AT THIS MOMENT, BUT VERY DISSATISFIED WITH THIS VEHICLE.
I HAVE 2014 SANTA FE SPORT WITH 2.4 ENGINE, AND HAVE A SERIOUS HESITATION PROBLEM. IT HAPPENS QUITE OFTEN WHEN WAITING AT LIGHT TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. WHEN TRAFFIC ALLOWS ME TO GO, THE CAR WILL START THE TURN THEN IT FEELS LIKE THE ENGINE DIES FOR ABOUT 2 OR 3 SECONDS THEN KICKS IN AND I AM ABLE TO COMPLETE THE TURN. THIS IS VERY SCARY WHEN THERE IS TRAFFIC COMING AT ME. I AM VERY WORRY THAT ONE DAY I WILL HAVE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE SERIOUS HESITATION PROBLEM. IT ALSO HESITATES IT WHEN DRIVING WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC AND WHEN I WANT TO SPEED UP LITTLE BIT, IT DOES NOT ACCELERATE BUT KINDA BOGGES DOWN. I HAVE TO PUSH THE GAS PEDDLE DOWN FAST AND THEN LET IT UP AND THEN I CAN ACCELERATE TO THE SPEED I WANTED TO GO. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER 2 TIMES AND THEY COULD NOT SOLVE THE THIS PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V226000 (ENGINE) HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER JOHN ONEILL JOHNSON HYUNDAI MERIDIAN MISSISSIPPI WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WERE NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS REMEDY NOT AVAILABLE.
WHEN TRADING IN MY VEHICLE THE DEALERSHIP TAKING THE TRADE WOULD NOT GIVE ME THE FULL TRADE-IN VALUE BECAUSE OF THE OPEN RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V226000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO PROVIDE A REMEDY AND PARTS WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS (1. SHOCKLEY HONDA, 7400 SHOCKLEY DR, FREDERICK, MD 21704, (301) 694-5400 AND 2. HERITAGE HONDA PARKVILLE, (410) 882-3000), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED OR DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL FOR MONTHS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ESCALATED THE CONCERN. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER AWAITING A REMEDY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
