Summary

Power brake booster check valve has failed twice since purchasing the vehicle new. Shortly after purchase, within the first month, the brake booster would loose vacuum after as little as an hour after driving. It progressed to occasional hard pedal during braking after acceleration. The dealer replaced it under warranty. The same problem arrose last month, April 2021 at 61,000 miles. The dealer said it is no longer covered and they would charge a diagnostic fee and I would have to pay for parts and labor. This is a safety concern that based on internet searches is happening to others. The replacement Part # 591391C200 Brake Vacuum Hose Connector and is currently unavailable from Kia and I had to purchase it from Hyundai.

SINCE THE PURCHASED OF MY 2014 KIA CADENZA IN 2016, I'VE HAD MAJOR ISSUES. I'VE TAKEN IT TO KIA FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND FOR ISSUES I'VE DISCOVERED AND NO ONE COULDN'T FIND THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, THE ISSUE WAS DISCOVERED WHEN THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. THE CAR CONSTANTLY STOPS ON THE EXPRESSWAY IN HIGH TRAFFIC, I ALMOST GOT HIT SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY CUTTING OFF WITH NO WARNING. AFTER MULTIPLE CALLS & EMAILS, THE DEALER FIXED THE THROTTLE BODY; HOWEVER, I'VE HAD CONTINUOUS ISSUES SUCH AS BURNING SMELLS AND WHITE SMOKE. SAME DEALER IGNORED ME AND TOLD ME IT WAS BECAUSE OF LEAVES BURNING IN THE VENT. DECEMBER 2020, I WAS TOLD THE CAR NEED A ENGINE. KIA WILL NOT COVER IT BECAUSE THERE'S NO RECALLS ON THIS VIN; HOWEVER, OTHER OWNERS WITH SAME MAKE/MODEL SHOW RECALLS. DOES SOMEONE IN MY FAMILY NEED TO DIE UNTIL SOMEONE TAKES THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY AND ASSUME ACCOUNTABILITY. IT'S EVIDENT I WAS SOLD A DEFECTED CAR AND LIKE MOST WOMEN CAR BUYERS, DEALERS/MECHANICS, THINK WE DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT CARS SO THEY GIVE US FALSE INFORMATION AND TURN US AWAY THEN TELL US WHAT IS NEEDED WHEN THE WARRANTY EXPIRES.

PARKING BRAKE GOT STUCK WAS ABLE TO DISENGAGE AFTER LOOKING AT MANUAL INSTRUCTIONS % SEVRAL ATTEMPTS ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE PB WENT OFF THEN THE AUTOHOLD LIGHT IN YELLOW AND ABS WENT ON. STILL ON ATTEMPTED PER INSTRRCTIONS TO DISENGAGE THE AUTO HOLD ..YOU TUBE INDICATED YELLOW HOLD MEANS TAKE TO SHOP/DEALER. ALSO ON KIA FORUM OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES ONE TOOK TO DEALER & DEALER ADVISED NEEDED BRAKE WORK. THE KIA FORUM SAID THAT WAS NOT SO IT WAS A SYSTEM ERROR OR SWITCH ERROR BUT IT LOCKS OF THE CAR BRAKES WHICH HAPPENED TO OTHERS & MYSELF LASTNIGHT THEY HAD TO TOW BACKWORDS CAUSE FRONT BRAKES LOCKED WOULD ONLY ALLOW REAR TOWING. MY HUSBAND WANTED TO CHECK BRAKES FIRST & BUT WHAT I FOUND OUT ON KIA FORUM THIS HAS BEEN MAJOR ISSUES WITH OTHERS AT AROUND 36000 MILES PLUS I HAVE 44080. I HAVE THE DEALER DO ALL THE SERVICING NEVER MISS OIL CHANGES I WAS ABOUT TO SCHEDULE MY NEXT. THEY ALSO DO INSPECTIONS & TIRE ROTATION. I FOUND OUT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN DOING ROTATIONS EVEN THOUGH THE PRICE I PAID INCLUDED IT. THERE ARE OTHER INSTANCES THE DEALER HAS MISSED THE MARK. & THEY ARE BETTER THAN MY LAST DEALER. IF THAT SENDS A MESSAGE. IF OTHERS ARE HAVING ISSUES WHY IS THIS NOT A WARANTEE FIX OR RECALL? I ALREADY HAD THE PARKING BRAKE SENSOR REPLACED ONCE WHEN IT FAILED .. THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE MY INFORMATION. I CAN CONTACT THEM . BUT THIS AUTO HOLD YELLOW SEEMS TO BE NORMAL AT THIS MILEAGE ACCORDING TO OTHERS AT THE KIA FORUM. IT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT 12-5-2020 300PM- BECAUSE OF ISSUES TOW TRUCK DRIVER DID NOT DELIVER TO MY HOUSE TILL 716. HUSBAND WILL CHECK BRAKING SYSTEM ACCORDING TO KIA FORUM ISSUE WITH DIRT & MOISTURE GETTING INTO BRAKE SYSTEM WHICH CAUSES AUTO HOLD TO LOCK UP BRAKING SYSTEM.

BACKED INTO A PARKING SPOT AND ENGAGED THE EPB. I HEARD THE USUAL MOTOR SOUND EXCEPT IT KEPT SOUNDING FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS. I DISENGAGED THE EPB AND PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE TO PULL FORWARD AND THE AUTO HOLD AND ELECTRICAL POWER BRAKE (EPB) GOT STUCK AND WOULD NOT RELEASED ALTHOUGH IT WAS NOT SHOWING ON THE DASH AS ACTIVE AND THEN, I TRIED TO GO FORWARD AND THE AUTO HOLD AND EPB LIGHTS CAME ON AND WERE AMBER. I TURNED THE CAR OFF WAITED A FEW MINUTES HOPING FOR A RESET AND TURN THE CAR ON AND THE AUTO HOLD AND EPB WERE NO LONGER DISPLAYED. I AGAIN PUT IT IN DRIVE AND THE BREAK WAS STILL STUCK. I ENGAGED THE EPB AND THEN DIS ENGAGED IT AND IT STINKS WAS STUCK. I TRIED TO GO FORWARD AND IT WAS STUCK AND THEN THE EPB, AUTO HOLD, TRACTION CONTROL, AND ABS LIGHTS CAME ON AMBER AND STAYED AMBER. MY CAR WAS LITERALLY INOPERABLE AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. SEARCHING THE WEB, I FOUND THIS ISSUE WITH MULTIPLE KIA MAKES AND THE MANAGER AND SERVICE AGENT BOTH TOLD ME THAT HAD SEEN THIS BEFORE.

AT 62K MILES I TOOK IT BACK IN AND SAID SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY NOT RIGHT. WELL IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER. IN SEARCHING FOR COMMON ISSUES I FOUND SEVERAL TSB'S REPORTING THE SAME THING. THERE IS EVEN A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN THAT TELLS THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHAT PARTS NEED TO BE REPLACED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE BUT THERE IS NO INVESTIGATIONS OR RECALLS. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR BECOMES COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL AT BOTH HIGH SPEED AND LOW SPEEDS. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THIS SHOULD BE PART OF THE RECALL AS IT IS THE SAME PRODUCT OF BOTH CARS MADE. JUST BECAUSE THE SALES VOLUME OF THE CADENZA IS LESS THAN THE OPTIMA DOES NOT CHANGE TO THE SAFETY OF THE RECALL AND SHOULD INCLUDED AS RECALL OF THE MANUFACTURED PART NO THE STYLE OF THE CAR. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM IN BOTH KIA'S THAT WE OWN, THE KIA DEALER ACKNOWLEDGES THAT ARE THE SAME PART, BUT REFUSE TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBLY; TO REPAIR AS THE CADENZA IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. THE FRONT GLASS ROOF PANEL/SUNROOF EXPLODED WITH NO EVIDENCE OF ANY OUTSIDE FORCE OR FACTOR. CAR IS A 2014 KIA CADENZA PURCHASED USED IN 2017 WITH 10,000 MILES. MILEAGE AT TIME OF INCIDENT WAS 17,629. NO RELEVANT MAINTENANCE HISTORY ASSOCIATED WITH THE INCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN RIDGELAND, MS SOUTHBOUND ON A FRONTAGE ROAD OFF OF I-55 AT 6:20 PM CST AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 55 MILES PER HOUR IN DRIVE AS THE VEHICLE HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. IT HAD BEEN AN OVERCAST DAY AND AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT IT WAS NOT RAINING AND THE TEMPERATURE WAS NEAR 60 DEGREES. THERE WERE NO CARS ON EITHER SIDE OF ME NOR IN FRONT OF ME FOR A REASONABLE DISTANCE. AS I WAS DRIVING, THERE WAS AN EXTREMELY LOUD EXPLOSION WHICH SOUNDED AS IF A GUN HAD BEEN DISCHARGED IN OR NEAR MY CAR. I WAS EXTREMELY STARTLED BY THE EXPLOSION AND IMMEDIATELY HEARD OUTSIDE NOISE AND FELT AIR COMING IN FROM THE TOP OF THE CAR. I SLOWED AND ENGAGED MY HAZARDS UNTIL I COULD GET TO A LOCATION TO INSPECT THE CAR. I NOTICED AN INTERESTING SMELL DIRECTLY AFTER THE INCIDENT BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM AND IT DISSIPATED. ONCE I PARKED THE CAR IT WAS AS EXPECTED, THE FRONT SECTION OF THE ROOF GLASS HAD A LARGE HOLE WITH GLASS SHARDS AND THE REMAINDER OF THE FRONT SECTION OF GLASS WAS CRACKED BUT HAD NOT DISLODGED. THE REAR GLASS SECTION APPEARED TO BE UNHARMED. THREE WORK EMPLOYEES AS WELL AS MY WIFE WITNESSED THE DAMAGE DIRECTLY AFTER I PARKED. THIS WAS A TRIP I HAD MADE NUMEROUS TIMES WITH NO UNUSUAL ROAD CONDITIONS, TRAFFIC OR WEATHER IN THIS CASE.

Summary

WHILE TRAVELING ON AN INTERSTATE - DURING A RAIN STORM - TRAVELING AROUND 65-70MPH - AND OTHER VEHICLES IN FRONT OF, BESIDE, AND BEHIND ME - OUT OF NOWHERE (NOT BIG BUMPS BEING HIT ) THERE WAS A SUDDEN BOOM WHICH SOUNDED LIKE A SHOTGUN GOING OFF. THIS WAS VERY ALARMING AND SCARED THE DAYLIGHTS OUT OF ME. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GAIN COMPOSURE TO NOTICE THAT MY SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED AS GLASS CONTINUED TO COME DOWN INTO THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER (STILL IN POURING RAIN) AND EVENTUALLY MAKE IT TO A BRIDGE WHERE I COULD SHIELD THE RAIN TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED. ONCE OUT OF THE CAR, IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THE SLIDING SUNROOF OF MY PANORAMIC ROOF HAD EXPLODED UPWARD. I AWAITED A TOW TRUCK TO TOW THE VEHICLE TO CLOSEST DEALER (AN HOUR AWAY - IN THE POURING RAIN WHICH SOAKED THE INTERIOR.) I KNEW THAT IT HAD TO BE SOME TYPE OF DEFECT SINCE THE EXPLOSION WENT UPWARD. UPON RESEARCHING THE INTERNET, IT APPEARS THAT THIS TYPE OF DEFECT HAS HAPPENED AS FAR BACK AS 2010. KIA IS LOOKING TO REPLACE THE SUNROOF UNDER WARRANTY WHICH IS PROBABLY THE SAME DEFECTIVE SUNROOF. I DO NOT HAVE ANY CONFIDENCE IN THIS CAR AND WOULD NOT ALLOW MY FAMILY TO BE IN THIS CAR MOVING FORWARD. IT IS SUCH AN ALARMING SITUATION AND COULD HAPPEN SO SPONTANEOUSLY, IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL MORE DEVASTATING ACCIDENTS COULD OCCUR. AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE, I AM LUCKY THAT IT WAS ME DRIVING - NOT MY WIFE OR MY KIDS. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A TOTALLY DIFFERENT OUTCOME. OTHER MANUFACTURES HAVE ADDRESSED THEIR ISSUE WITH PANORAMIC ROOFS, BUT KIA CONTINUES TO DENY THEY HAVE A PROBLEM. KIA SHOULD BUY BACK THESE CARS AS THEY ARE A SAFETY HAZARD FOR NOT ONLY THOSE IN THE CAR, BUT FOR ANY MOTORIST AROUND THEM. THESE VEHICLES SHOULD BE RECALLED, AND IF THEY CONTINUE TO SELL VEHICLES WITH THIS CHARACTERISTIC, THEY SHOULD HAVE TO PROVIDE A DISCLAIMER TO WARN BUYERS.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HWY AND MY SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED. I DO NOT THINK A ROCK HIT IT BUT IF IT DID IT SHOULD NOT HAVE SHATTERED. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT IT HAD HAPPENED BEFORE BUT WHEN I ARRIVED TO THE DEALERSHIP HE THEN LOOKED AND THE SUNROOF AND SAID THAT IT LOOKED AS IF IT HAD BEEN STRUCK BY A ROCK AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO DO AN INVESTIGATION. I THEN TOLD HIM THAT IF A ROCK HIT IT, IT STILL SHOULD NOT HAVE BUSTED AND SHATTERED THE WAY IT DID. HE SAID IT HAS SOMETHING TO SO WITH CABIN PRESSURE. SO THEN IF THAT IS THE CASE EVERY TIME A ROCK HITS IT THEN IT WILL BUST AND SHATTER?

Summary

I PURCHASED A KIA CADENZA IN SEPT. 2014. ONE OF THE REASONS THAT I SELECTED THIS VEHICLE WAS THE SAFETY RECORD OF THE VEHICLE. THIS KIA CADENZA CAME WITH DUAL FRONT AND REAR SEAT-MOUNTED SIDE AIRBAGS. ON JAN. 19TH, 2015 I WAS BROAD SIDED WHILE DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. MY KIA WAS HIT WITH GREAT FORCE AT THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR. THE IMPACT SENT MY CAR INTO A CIRCULAR SPIN. MY KIA HAD A HOLE IN THE PASSENGER REAR DOOR WHERE THE REAR SEAT WAS EXPOSED. THE IMPACT WAS TREMENDOUS AND NO AIR BAG DEPLOYED. NO FRONT, REAR OR SIDE CURTAIN. THE CAR HAS BEEN DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. I TALKED TO THE KIA CORPORATION ABOUT THE INCIDENT AND ASKED WHY NO AIR BAG WENT OFF. THAT WAS A WEEK AFTER THE ACCIDENT AND I AM STILL WAITING ON THAT PHONE CALL. THESE INCIDENTS SHOULD NOT BE IGNORED. THE SENSOR SYSTEM DETECTING IMPACT AND FORCE OF IMPACT TOTALLY FAILED...UPDATED 02/24/15*BF *TR UPDATED 9/21/2017*CN

ON SATURDAY - NOVEMBER 22, 2014 AROUND 6:30 PM THE CAR ENGINE STOPPED AND CAR ROLLED FOR FEW FEET AND STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. ALSO STEERING JAMMED AND DIDN'T MOVE. IT WAS STOPPED AND DIDN'T START BACK ON AND STEERING BECAME VERY HARD TO CRANK IT. THE BATTERY WAS RUNNING FINE. DUE TO ELECTRICAL AND/OR MECHANICAL FAILURE WE WERE EXPOSED TO THE UNSAFE ENVIRONMENT. FORTUNATELY, WE WERE NOT ON THE BUSY STREET/FREEWAY OTHERWISE IT COULD HAVE BEEN ENDED UP IN MAJOR SAFETY INCIDENT. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, WE COULDN'T MANEUVER THE STEERING RESULTING IN SITUATION TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL. *TR

THE 2014 CADENZA DOES NOT OFFERS A HEIGHT SEAT ADJUSTMENT FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER SO IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR MY WIFE TO GET IT AND OUT. I CALLED KIA AND I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM UNLESS I GET THE 2015 MODEL. SO I BOUGHT A SEAT CUSHION TO INCREASE THE HEIGHT . THE PROBLEM NOW IS THAT THE " OFF WARNING LIGHT" FOR THE AIR BAGS DOES NOT ACTIVATE TO ON WHEN YOU SEAT, WHICH MEANS THAT IF THERE'S IS AN ACCIDENT, THOSE BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY AND COULD LEAD TO CATASTROPHIC INJURIES. KIA STATES THAT PROBLEM WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BE FIXED.MANY CADENZA OWNERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *TR

Summary

THE "SMART KEY" FOR THIS VEHICLE IS A NEW DESIGN, RELEASED FOR THE 2013 KDM KIA K7, AND HAS A RELEASE BUTTON WHERE THE PLASTIC KEY/REMOTE PART MAY BE REMOVED TO EXPOSE A METAL CENTER-CUT KEY THAT CAN BE USED ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR, TRUNK, OR GLOVE COMPARTMENT. THE RELEASE WILL DETACH THE KEY WELL BEFORE THE BUTTON IS FLUSH WITH THE PLASTIC BODY, ALLOWING MANY DIFFERENT NORMAL MOTIONS TO RELEASE THE KEY. ON MANY OCCASIONS, JUST REGULAR MOVEMENT HAS RELEASED THE KEY AND IT HAS FALLEN OFF IN MY POCKET. ON ONE OCCASION, THE SMART KEY CAME OFF AS I REMOVED MY KEYS FROM MY POCKET AT MY HOUSE AND THE KEY BOUNCED UP UNDER THE CAR. HAD I NOT HAD THE OTHER KEY INSIDE THE HOUSE, I WOULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED BECAUSE IT BOUNCED OUT OF REACH. NOW IT HAS COME OFF AND FALLEN OUT OF MY POCKET AND IS LOST. ALL OF THESE INCIDENCES OCCURRED WITHIN A MONTH OF PURCHASE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE KEY IS PLASTIC AND LIGHT ENOUGH THAT IT COULD FALL OFF WITHOUT BEING HEARD. IN SUCH A SITUATION, IT COULD BECOME IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY, SUCH AS IF IT WERE NEAR A FIRE OR BLOCKING ACCESS FOR A FIRE TRUCK OR AMBULANCE. IT'S ALSO POSSIBLE IT COULD COME OFF UNNOTICED IN A PUBLIC PARKING LOT AND THEN ANYONE COULD FIND THE KEY, USE THE "ANSWER-BACK" OR PANIC FUNCTIONS TO LOCATE THE CAR THE KEY WENT TO, AND THEN STEAL THE CAR. A RUNNING CRIMINAL OR JUVENILE ON A JOY-RIDE COULD THEN CRASH AND CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH. THE KEY SHOULD BE REDESIGNED AND THE CURRENT ONE RECALLED. *TR
