The steering wheel locked up while I was driving. A message on the screen said power steering assist fault. I could not turn left or right and the brake was very difficult to press
On 7/5/2020, I experienced a sudden brake loss on my vehicle. To stop the vehicle I had push the brake pedal down to the floor board. On 7/6/2020 I had the vehicle towed to David McDavid dealership in Plano, TX to have the brake problem fixed and it was returned to me on 7/10/2020. On 6/14/2021 I had the same brake problem again and I called the same dealer and I just took in this date 6/15/2021. After reviewing the brake recalls involving other Ford/Lincoln models, I believe the 2014 MKZ should be included in the brake recall.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 LINCOLN MKZ. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRUNK FAILED TO CLOSE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, CAUSING THE BATTERY TO BECOME DRAINED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALER SUBURBAN CADILLAC OF PLYMOUTH (40475 ANN ARBOR RD, PLYMOUTH, MI 48170, (734) 453-7500) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRUNK MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I WAS HEADING TO WORK AND I DIDN'T SEE ANY ISSUE ON MY DASHBOARD THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. I DROVE THE CAR THREE BLOCKS AND THE CAR STOPPED ALL OF SUDDEN WHILE I WAS IN DRIVING MODE. I CALL THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME TO TOW THE CAR TO THEM. THE DEALER CALLS ME THE NEXT DAY AND SAID YOUR BRAKE SYSTEM WIRES WERE CHEWED BY AN ANIMAL. I ASKED WHY MY BREKE ALERT DIDN'T SHOW UP ON THE DASHBOARD, THEY COULDN'T EXPLAIN AND KEEP ASKING ME TO PAY FOR IT. I TOLD THEM I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED IF I WAS GOING IN HIGH SPEED AND THE CAR BRAKE SYSTEM STOP ANY TIME. I FEEL LIKE THERE IS A FAULT THAT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. THIS IS REALLY NOT SAFE WHEN YOUR MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE CAR SYSTEM WIRES IS CHEWED BY AN ANIMAL AND I DON'T SEE ANY INDICATOR SHOWING ME ANY ISSUE RELATED TO IT. I NORMALLY SEE WHEN AN OIL CHANGE IS A NEED, LOW TIRE AIR, THE DOOR IS OPEN, ALL THOSE SIGNS SHOW ON THE DASHBOARD, BUT THE BRAKE SYSTEM DIDN'T WARN ME THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG. I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH LINCOLN WITH BRAKES AND ELECTRIC ISSUES. THEY DENIED THAT THEY DON'T COVER SUCH ISSUES. I DON'T EVEN FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR EVEN IF THEY FIX, BECAUSE THEY CAN'T PROVE HOW LONG THE WIRES WERE CHEWED AND WHY THE BRAKE INDICATOR DIDN'T SHOW UP. I HAVE REPORTED THIS CASE TO THE LINCOLN HEADQUARTERS, BUT NO HELP FROM THEM. THEY KEEP SAYING YOU HAVE TO WORK WITH YOUR LOCAL DEALERS. SEE ATTACHED PICTURES. IF THIS HAPPENS WHILE I WAS IN 50MILES ON THE HIGHWAY, I WOULD HAVE CAUSE HUGE DAMAGE. CONTACT ME ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS.
12M02 -- I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR THIS EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN TWICE DURING WHILE IT WAS STILL ACTIVE. BOTH TIMES THE DEALERSHIP TRIED TO PLAY IT OFF AS "NOT UNDER THE WARRANTY" AND "SOFTWARE ISSUE NOT HARDWARE". THEY EVEN CHARGED ME FOR THE SERVICE OVER $250 WORTH OF "UPDATES". THAT DID NOT EVEN FIX THE ISSUE WITH THE DISPLAY TURING OFF WHILE THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING MAKING MOST OF THE VEHICLES FUNCTIONS USELESS. THE DEALERSHIP IS NOW DENYING TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND FORD/LINCOLN IS CLAIMING IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. WHEN I TOOK IT IN ALREADY TWICE FOR THIS ISSUE AND WAS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF AND ROBBED $250 WHEN THEY SHOULD HAVE REPLACED THE DISPLAY (APM MODULE) TO FIX THE ISSUE AS PER FORDA INSTRUCTIONS. PLEASE HELP ME AS THE APM MODULE WOULD COST ME OVER $2,000 TO FIX WHEN THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD SHOULD HAVE FIXED IT IN THE FIRST PLACE. AS THEY ARE ONES WHO MESSED UP AND NOT ME NEGLECTING TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN TO THEM AND INFORM THEM OF THE ISSUE. I EVEN HAD THE VEHICLE WITH THEM WHEN THE PROBLEM WAS SHOWING OF THE DISPLAY TURING COMPLETELY BLACK FOR OVER 5 MINUTES. THEN COMING BACK AND JUST STUCK IN A BOOT CYCLE WHERE IT TURNS ON AND OFF CONSTANTLY UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. BUT THEN IT STILL HAS AN ISSUE LATER ON EVEN AFTER THE RESTART OF THE VEHICLE

MIDDLE CONSOLE DASH THAT CONTROLS HEATED SEATS, ENTERTAINMENT, CLIMATE CONTROLS, NAVIGATION, RADIO, ETC. GOES COMPLETELY BLACK AND GIVES THE ERROR CODE "DESKTOP.EXE HAS STOPPED WORKING" DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO, BUT WILL NOT PAY FOR ANYTHING TO GET IT CHECKED, WARRANTY SAYS THEY WILL NOT COVER IT BECAUSE IT'S "SOFTWARE". THUS LEAVING ME WITH AN ALMOST USELESS VEHICLE WHEN THE DASH DOES OUT.
THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON 1 DAY AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED. I WAS TOLD PURGE VALVE NEEDED REPLACEMENT
WHEN REVERSING, BACKUP CAMERA INTERMITTENTLY RESTARTS, SHUTS OFF, OR NEVER SHOWS. THIS IS A DANGER AS IT IS UNPREDICTABLE AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE IF IT TURNS OFF WHILE IN MOTION. CAR DISPLAY SAYS "CAMERA UNAVAILABLE. PLEASE CONTACT DEALERSHIP". CODE READER GIVES ERROR C1001 GENERAL ELECTRIC FAILURE.
I BROUGHT 2 NEW BATTERIES AND MY CAR WONT KEEP A CHARGE. I ALSO HAD TEST DONE ON MY VEHICLE 3 TIMES AND RESULTS SHOW BATTERY, STARTER, AND ALTERNATOR ARE ALL GOOD SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM.
THE DOOR LATCH OF THE PASSENGER DOOR IS BROKEN. THIS IS IN CONJUNCTION WITH LINCOLN RECALL # 17V210000 DOOR LATCH RECALL. THERE WAS ALSO A SECOND RECALL # 15S16 THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. IGNITION OFF. A DOOR THAT FUNCTIONED FINE EARLIER IN THE DAY, SUDDENLY WOULD NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. ON CLOSER INSPECTION, DOOR LATCH WAS BROKEN.

VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND HAS DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES, BOTH ON CITY STREETS AND ON THE HIGHWAY. THE DATE CHOSEN FOR WHEN THIS HAPPENED WAS THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED. THE BATTERY WILL NOT KEEP A CHARGE AND A CERTIFIED MECHANIC HAS HAD THE CAR FOR 2 WEEKS AND CAN NOT LOCATE THE REASON THE BATTERY DRAINS COMPLETELY WITHIN 8 HOURS.
PICTURE OF AMWRENCH CAME UP ON THE DASH INDICATING TO CHECK OWNERS MANUEL. POWERTRAIN ISSUE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS (2014 LINCOLN MKZ HYBRID RECALL # 13VS94000) BUT MY VIN IS NOT LISTED. WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN.
2014 LINCOLN MKZ ON WHICH THE SEAT HEATERS HAD QUIT WORKING. TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALER AND FOUND OUT THAT THE NEGATIVE WIRE FROM THE MODULE CONNECTER TO THE CONTROL MODULE HAD SHORTED SND BURNED. THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE DEVELOPED INTO A FIRE AT ANY TIME IN THAT THERE IS POWER TO THIS CONTROLLER FULL TIME. AS TO THE TIME THIS SHORTAGE OCCURED COULD HAVE BEEN ANY TIME.

I INFORM LINCOLN MOTOR COMPANY ON MY LINCOLN HAS BEEN RECALLED, WHICH IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW TO A RECORD NUMBER OF AMERICANS, BUT IT'S EVEN WORSE WHEN YOU KNOW THAT YOUR CAR HAS BEEN RECALLED AND CAN'T GET THE MANUFACTURER TO SERVICE IT AT A DEALERSHIP. WHEN YOU'RE TOLD THAT THERE ARE NO PARTS OR NO TECHNICIANS TO FIX YOUR CAR, WHAT DO YOU DO? I WAS TOLD IT'S NOT THAT BAD AND DIDN'T NEED TO BE REPLACING RIGHT NOW. HAD MY CAR IN TO BE SERVICE ON RECALL 18S08, THAT IS WHEN THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T PUT THE LUG NUTS BACK ON MY CAR, AND THE WHEEL FELL OFF THE CAR CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF THE CAR. THE LUGS NUTS SWELL, CRACK AND DELAMINATE TO THE POINT SPECIAL TOOLS ARE NEEDED TO REMOVE THE LUG NUTS. HAD 3 BLOWOUT DUE TO THE WHEEL FRAME WAS BENT, AND WAS REPLACE DURING THE DAMAGE THE DEALERSHIP DONE TO THE CAR. PICTURE WAS PROVIDED TO LINCOLN MOTOR COMPANY. I WAS NOTIFIED BY LINCOLN ABOUT NHTSA 14V-597, AND OF THE DATE STILL NOT REPAIRED. TAKATA AIRBAG INFLATORS THAT COULD EXPLODE VIOLENTLY DESPITE CONTAINING A CHEMICAL MEANT TO LESSEN THE RISK OF THE SHRAPNEL-SHOOTING RUPTURES. BUT FORD IS LOOKING TO AVOID ANOTHER COSTLY RECALL. CAN'T FIND THE NATSA# MY LINCOLN NOW UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR BRAKE FAILURE. A SIGNIFICANT DEFECT CAN MAKE MY CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I'VE BEEN HAVING THE IDIOT LIGHT COME ON WITH LIGHTNING BOLT WORDS CHECK YOUR BRAKES. THE MESSAGE I GOT WAS THEY WERE GOING TO CLOSE THE CASE# BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO REMEDY FOR ME. THEY DISCOVER MY WARRANTY ON THE CAR IS RUNNING OUT AND DON'T WANT TO BE BOTHER WITH THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 LINCOLN MKZ. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER?S SIDE LATCH FAILED AND CAUSED THE DOOR TO OPEN. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE LATCH ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LINCOLN OF MEMPHIS (2611 RIDGE WAY ROAD, MEMPHIS, TN 38119, (90)1-432-8822) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR DRIVER?S SIDE LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REAR DRIVER?S DOOR LATCH WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 24331533. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,795.
FOR THE SECOND ONE TIME IN A MONTH MY LOCKING MECHANISM ON MY 2014 LINCOLN MKZ HYBRID. FORD IS RECALLING VEHICLES OF THE SAME YEAR FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE DEALERSHIPS SAY MY VIN NUMBER ISN'T PART OF IT. 2 DOOR LATCH REPLACEMENTS IS 800.00. THIS IS RIDICULOUS WHEN OTHER VEHICLES THE SAME YET MAKE AND MODEL AS MINE ARE ACCEPTABLE FOR THE RECALL. I OPENED MY DOOR AND NOW THE LATCH WON'T STAY CLOSED. IT OPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE IN MY 2014 LINCOLN MKZ 2.0 ECOBOOST I ATTEMPTED TO MATCH THE SPEED OF THE FAST LANE AND MERGE. WHEN ACCELERATING THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SHUDDER ALMOST STALL WITH NO POWER. IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS.
WHEN CLOSING THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR THE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH TO CLOSE SECURELY. THE LATCH IS STUCK OPEN. WE WERE SITTING IN A PARKING LOT AND WITH SOME WORK GOT IT TO LATCH CLOSED UNTIL WE GOT HOME. WHEN WE OPEN AND THEN CLOSED THE DOOR AGAIN, THE SAME THING HAPPEN AND THE LATCH IT STUCK SO IT WILL NOT LATCH TO SECURELY CLOSE. CURRENTLY I CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR DUE TO THE ISSUE.
2014 LINCOLN MKZ. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO WHEEL LUG NUTS ON VEHICLE BEING HAZARDOUS ON THE ROAD. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE LUG NUTS BECOME OVER HEATED. DUE TO THIS FAILURE, THE ISSUED LUG WRENCH WAS UNABLE TO SLIP OVER THE HEATED LUG NUTS. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 LINCOLN MKZ. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR LATCHES WERE INOPERABLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE. THE FIRST FAILURE OCCURRED ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. FIESTA LINCOLN (1720 S MESA DR, MESA, AZ 85210, (480) 813-4900) WAS CONTACTED, BUT WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY OR INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
DOOR LATCH DEFECTIVE. I HAD A DEFECTIVE LATCH REPLACED BY LINCOLN DEALERSHIP ONE YEAR AGO. THIS WAS THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. ON 7/11/19, MY PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LATCH IS NOW DEFECTIVE. I CONTACTED MY LINCOLN DEALERSHIP AND THEY EXPLAINED MY WARRANTY IS NOT VALID, THEREFORE, THEY WILL NOT COVER THE COST. I CONTACTED LINCOLN CUSTOMER SERVICE, RECALL DEPARTMENT AND THEY TOO SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE 2ND DEFECTIVE DOOR LATCH, DUE TO NO WARRANTY. THEY EXPLAINED THEY UNDERSTOOD THIS IS THE 2ND DEFECTIVE DOOR LATCH AND THIS DOOR LATCH ISSUE IS PART OF RECALL. HOWEVER, MY VIN# IS NOT PART OF RECALL, BUT MY MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR ARE INCLUDED IN RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 LINCOLN MKZ. AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE MESSAGES 'SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" AND "STEER ASSIST FAULT' WERE DISPLAYED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. OURISMAN FORD/LINCOLN (6129 RICHMOND HWY, ALEXANDRIA, VA) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,316.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN OGEECHEE ROAD IN MY CITY AND THE TRAFFIC WAS SLOWING DOWN. SO I BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN AND THE STEERING WHEEL WENT OUT. I RAN I TO THE BACK OF ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE STEERING WHEEL
I WAS AT A GROCERY STORE. TURNED ON MY CAR PUT IT IN REVERSE AND I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL. A LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH BOARD SAYING STEERING ALIGNMENT FAILURE. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK TURNED IT OFF AND TRIED TO BACK UP A FEW MORE TIMES AND FAILED. SO I JUST SAT THERE FOR A WHILE THEN TRIED ONE LAST TIME AND THE CAR FINALLY BACKED UP.
WHEN I READ ABOUT THE STEERING WHEEL BOLT RECALL IN JUNE 2018 I CHECKED THE CONDITION OF MY STEERING WHEEL BOLT AND DISCOVERED IT WAS LOOSE AND WAS THE BAD DESIGN THAT WAS BEING RECALLED. I WAITED FOR A RECALL NOTICE THAT NEVER CAME AND WHEN I CHECKED WITH DEALER IN DECEMBER 2018 THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY CAR WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. I HAVE PURCHASED A NEW BOLT AND WILL INSTALL MYSELF. HOWEVER, I AM STILL QUITE CONCERNED THAT SOMEONE MAY STILL BE AT RISK OF INJURY. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT THE ORIGINAL NOTIFICATION BY FORD LISTS THE PRODUCTION DATES THAT INCLUDE MY VEHICLE. I PERSONALLY OBSERVED THE LOOSE STEERING BOLT ON MY VEHICLE AND BAD DESIGN. FOR SOME REASON, NOT ALL OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLE OWNERS ARE BEING INFORMED OF A PROBLEM . I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN MARCH OF 2017.
UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE ORDER DRIVE IN LOW SPEED OR GETTING INTO GEAR THE CAR SPUTTERS. IT STALLS AND POWERS OFF, CREATING A HAZARD. IT IS BEGINNING TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY. IT WILL ACT AS IF IT IS NOT RECEIVING FUEL AND IT MAKES ME RESTART IT. MOST OCCURS IN PARKING LOTS OR DRIVEWAYS.
VEHICLE SUDDENLY DIES WHEN DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ONE MONTH AGO. BROUGT IT TO THE DEALER FOR THE BOLT RECALL AND STALLED WHILE DEALER WAS TRYING TO PULL IT INTO THE BAY. AFTER THAT POINT, THE VEHICLE DIED WHILE DRIVNG ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. WENT TO THE MECHANIC ONE TWO OCCASIONS AND NO CODES PULLED. CALLED DEALER AND THEY SAID I NEEDED TO GO TO A FORD DEALER. WENT TO FORD DEALER ONE CODE PULLED (FUEL INJECTOR) WAS REPLACED RECOMMENDED I CHANGE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND REPLACE BATTERY WHICH I AGREED TO. FORTY MINUTES AFTER LEAVING DEALER AS I WAS OULLING OUT OF A PARKIGN LOT THE CAR SUDDENLY DIED AGAIN ALMOST CAUSING ME TO BE HIT BY A BOX TRUCK BEHIND ME. THE CAR IS BACK AT THE DEALER AND ONCE AGAIN NO CODES ARE COMING UP AND THEY SAID THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. WENT ONTO MKZ FORUMS AND THIS APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM NOT ADDRESSED WHICH IS CAUSING A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN FOR BOTH MYSELF AND OTHERS SINCE THERE ARE NO ANSWERS TO WHY THIS IS HAPPENING.
ELECTRICAL STEERING RACK NOT WORKING , HAD TO REPLACE. MKZ 2014
REPLACE ELECTRIC STEERING RACK HP5Z* 3504*C HAD TO REPLACE ELECTRIC STEERING RACK. QUESTION IS WITH TWO RECALLS SOMEWHAT RELATED TO THE STEERING COLUMN ( BOLT IN STEERING WHEEL AND A POWER TRAIN ISSUE) WOULD THIS ULTIMATELY AFFECT THE ELECTRIC STEERING RACK HP5Z*3504*C? CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD AND IN GREAT CONDITION. BESIDES THE RECALLS NO REPAIRS AT ALL. ELECTRIC RACK JUST STOPPED WORKING, I PARKED THE CAR GOT READY TO GO TO WORK AND COULD NOT TURN STEERING WHEEL. LINCOLN MKZ 2014.
MY CAR HAS HAD NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL ISSUES SINCE THE DAY I HAVE PURCHASED IT. AGAIN, LAST WEEK, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIT UP WITH NUMEROUS CODES. I DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND LEFT THE CAR FOR A FEW DAYS. THE CODES CLEARED AND THEY CANNOT ROOT CAUSE THE ISSUE. IN ADDITION, WHEN I HAVE BEEN AT A STOP LIGHT THE DRIVER'S SEAT REGRESSES BACKWARDS, AND THE SIDE VIEW MIRROR MOVES AT THE SAME TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 LINCOLN MKZ. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO OPERATE CORRECTLY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL NEEDED TO BE PUMPED IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CONTACT NOTICED BRAKE FLUID LEAKING UNDER THE VEHICLE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FOX FORD LINCOLN (2501 N ELSTON AVE, CHICAGO, IL 60647, (773) 687-7800) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE BRAKE LINE WAS RUPTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000.
DTC CODE P188B - AWD CLUTCH CONTROL CIRCUIT AWD SYSTEM MALFUNCTION, AWD TURNED OFF DURING DRIVING NORMAL MODE. RESTART THE CAR THE AWD SYSTEM IS BACK ON, DEALER CANNOT FIX IT UNLESS YOU GET TO THEM WITH THE MALFUNCTION LIGHT ON. MANAGED FEW TIMES TO BRING IT TO THEM WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, THEY CHANGED TWO TIMES THE AWD MODULE THE FAULT STILL RETURNS. THE DEALER STILL SAYS THAT IS FIXED WHEN OBVIOUSLY IS NOT.
PURCHASED THIS CAR USED (ONE OWNER) - HAVE HAD THE CAR SINCE 9/2017 WITH NO PROBLEMS. LAST WEEK (5/04/18) CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND TO START BUTTON. THOUGHT IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN A FLUKE SO DISREGARDED THIS ISSUE AS IT DID FINALLY START AFTER 5-6 TRIES. LAST NIGHT (5/12/18) WHILE TRAVELING ON A BACK ROAD (APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH) THE CAR SHUT OFF TOTALLY. LOSS OF STEERING/BRAKES. MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR ON THE SHOULDER. INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE THE AMBER WRENCH (POWERTRAIN) AND A ANOTHER RED SQUARE (NOT SURE WHAT SYMBOL). IT TOOK APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES BEFORE CARE WOULD RESTART. TAKING TO DEALERSHIP ON 5/14 AND HOPING THEY DO NOT TELL ME THEY ARE UNAWARE OF ANY ISSUES. THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER OWNERS HERE THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. THIS COULD BE LIFE THREATENING IF WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY!
WHEN AT A RELIGHT, MY FORT WAS ON THE BRAKE,YET THE STEERING WHEEL,PULLED IT TO THE LLEFT. THE IT WAS O.K. I DROVE ON ADD PARKED ,WENT TO STORE, THEN RETURNED TO MY CAR PUT IN REVERSE,THEN PUT IN. DRIVE AND TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT. IT PULLED IMMEDIATELY TO THE RIGHT, CAUSING ME TO GO OVER THE YELLOW BLOCK AND HIT THE KERB,IT WAS OUT OF MY CONTROL,CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE CAR. THE FIRST PROBLEM WAS STATIONARY AT A RED LIGHT. THE SECOND WAS IN DRIVE TO THE RIGHT, STEERING WHEEL PULLED TO THE LEFT,IN AN EXIT FRO THE PARKING LOT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 LINCOLN MKZ. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 25-60 MPH ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE LOST ALL ELECTRICAL FUNCTION, INCLUDING THE POWER STEERING ASSIST AND ABS ABILITY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE ON EACH OCCASION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOB DAVIDSON FORD LINCOLN (1845 E JOPPA RD, PARKVILLE, MD 21234, (410) 661-6400) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,500.
DRIVERS DOOR DOESN'T ALWAYS CLOSE PROPERLY.. IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS MISALIGNED SOMETIMES. I AM AFRAID THAT THE DOOR IS GOING TO OPEN WHILE DRIVING
CAR DOOR OPENED IN TRAFFIC WITH BABY IN CARSEAT, THREW THE CAR IN PARK. DOOR LATCH BROKE.
OUTER BEARING FAILURE IN TRANSMISSION RESULTING IN METAL-TO-METAL BEARING DESTRUCTION AND ACCORDING TO FORD TECHNICIANS ONCE COMPLETE FAILURE OCCURS WOULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO ABRUPTLY STOP WHEN DRIVING. FORD-LINCOLN ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS ISSUE BUT THERE HAS BEEN NO CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION OR VOLUNTARY RECALL FOR MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE VIN BUT IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE FOR OTHER FORD AND LINCOLNS FOR THIS PROBLEM TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THE ONLY RESOLUTION IS A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION AS THE TRANSMISSION CAN NOT BE REPAIRED. THE OLD CORE TRANSMISSION WAS REQUIRED TO BE SENT BACK TO FORD-LINCOLN. THE FACTORY TRANSMISSION IS WARRANTIED FOR 60,000 MILES AND IN MY SPECIFIC CASE THE VEHICLE HAD 110,000 MILES. THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION IS BELIEVED TO HAVE ENGINEERING CHANGES TO PRECLUDE THIS BEARING FAILURE AND HAS A WARRANTY OF 100,000 MILES. THE CHIEF CONCERN IS THAT FORD-LINCOLN IS WELL AWARE OF THE PENDING TRANSMISSION FAILURE SO MUCH THAT THEY ISSUED AN INTERNAL TSB ADDRESSING THE ISSUE, BUT NOT SO CONCERNED TO SEND ANY CORRESPONDENCE TO OWNERS OF VEHICLES CONTAINING THIS TRANSMISSION AND THE POTENTIAL CONSEQUENCES SHOULD IT FAIL, WHICH APPARENTLY COULD BE CATASTROPHIC AND LIFE-THREATENING TO OCCUPANTS AND POTENTIALLY OTHER VEHICLES DRIVING IN CLOSE PROXIMITY. ALSO, IN SPEAKING TO A CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE ON THEIR NATIONAL CALL LINE FOR CONCERNS, THE AGENT WAS CERTAIN I DID NOT HAVE A TRANSMISSION SUBJECT TO FAILURE, EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS THE TSB IN EFFECT WHICH I MENTIONED ABOVE. SHE INDICATED THAT DID NOT RELATE TO MY VEHICLE WHEN I QUESTIONED HER FURTHER. BOTH FORD MECHANIC AND A CERTIFIED MECHANIC NOT ASSOCIATED WITH FORD BOTH INDICATED THE TRANSMISSION IN MY LINCOLN WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE TSB FOR TRANSMISSION FAILURE. PHOTO INFO ON DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION ATTACHED.
MY MPG EXPERIENCE TO DATE HAS BEEN IN THE 14-17 MPG RANGE. COPIES OF THREE TANK REFILL GAS RECEIPTS SHOWING ODOMETER MPG READINGS ARE ATTACHED. I AM 81 YEARS OLD AND A CONSERVATIVE DRIVER THAT NEITHER DRIVES AT HIGH SPEEDS NOR RUSHES FORWARD OUT OF STOPS. LINCOLN AND DEALER ADVERTISE 21 MPG IN CITY DRIVING. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY CERTIFIED PERFORMANCE IN THE 15 MPG AREA. ( COPY ATTACHED) . I HAVE ALSO CORRESPONDED WITH LINCOLN. I HAVE CONSTANT ISSUES WITH THE POWER DECK LID NOT WORKING WHEN IT IS COLD, IT WONT EVEN POP THE TRUNK. THIS MORNING I EXPERIENCED A DEAD BATTERY AND WHEN I GOT THE VEHICLE JUMPED AND STARTED, THE POWER STEERING WARNING CAME ON AS WELL AS A TRACTION CONTROL, HILL START WARNINGS AND THE POWER STEERING ISNT WORKING AT ALL. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. I AM UNABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL.
THE RIGHT REAR DOOR SWUNG OPEN AS I WAS DRIVING. THE DOOR WON'T STAY SHUT.
WHILE TURNING A CORNER THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND BECAME EXTREMELY HEAVY, ALMOST UNABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL TO COMPLETE THE TURN. A NOTIFICATION CAME ON FROM THE CAR INDICATING "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" AND "STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED". *JS

RECEIVED AN "IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL" LETTER, CALLED THE DEALER TO SETUP AN APPT, AND LEARNED THAT THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. I THEN CALL FORD CORP, AND THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. FORD CORP TOLD ME THAT IF I HAD THE CURRENT PROBLEMS WITH STEERING, THEN THEY MIGHT BE ABLE TO ACCELERATE THE PARTS. NOTIFIED BY LINCOLN (FORD MOTOR COMPANY) ABOUT NHTSA 14V-597 RECALL IN LETTER DATED NOVEMBER 2014 CONCERNING THE AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE FAILURE. AS OF MAY 1ST, MY VEHICLE STILL HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. ALTHOUGH I HAVE MADE NUMEROUS CALL TO LINCOLN (FORD), I AM TOLD THAT REPAIR PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR MY VEHICLE. I HAVE BEE WAITING 6 MONTHS FOR REPAIR PARTS FOR MY VEHICLE. I WAS TRAVELING IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 10 MPH WHEN I WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKES AND THE CAR WOULD NOT REACT I THEN APPLIED BOTH FEET STANDING ON THE PEDAL ANNOUNCING I WASN'T STOPPING AND NUDGED INTO THE BACK OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. IT LEFT ONLY MINOR DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE AND NONE TO THE ONE I HIT. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE BRAKES SEEMS TO WORK AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING AND THEY REVIEWED THE ISSUE FOR A FEW DAYS AND COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AND SAID EVERYTHING TESTED FINE. I FRANKLY DO NOT TRUST THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE AND WILL NOW ONLY DRIVE IT MYSELF. I AM A RETIRED POLICE OFFICER AND FORMER EMPLOYEE OF NHTSA REGION 8 WITH 20 YEARS OF CRASH RECONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE AND I HAVE NEVER PERSONALLY HAD A BRAKE FAILURE SO IT IS CONCERNING. I WANTED TO SUBMIT THE REPORT FOR TRACKING PURPOSES IN CASE OTHERS ENCOUNTER THE PROBLEM OR THEIR IS A FUTURE PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. THANK YOU. *TR

FORD/LINCOLN APPARENTLY HAD A RECALL ON MKZ HYBRIDS FOR THIS PROBLEM SUPPOSEDLY FOR MODELS MFG. IN MEXICO (THRU OCT. 2013 ?)......WELL THIS ONE CAR WAS MISSED. VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES NOW BUT THIS SAFETY PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. *TR
COLLISION WARNING ALERT SOUNDED, LIGHTS FLASHED AND VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY APPLIED BRAKING AS IF A FRONT END COLLISION WAS IMMINENT WHEN TRAVELING ON THE PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE WITHOUT ANY CARS IN THE PROXIMITY OF MY CAR. AT THE TIME, I WAS DRING AND BRAKING TO REDUCE THE SPEED FROM THE POSTED 70 MILES PER HOUR TO THE NEW SPEED ZONE OF 55 MILES PER HOUR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 LINCOLN MKZ EQUIPPED WITH PIRELLI TIRES, TIRE SIZE: 245/40R19, TIRE LINE: PZERO NERO ALL SEASON, AND DOT NUMBER UN93L6384813. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, HE DISCOVERED THAT THREE OF THE TIRES EXHIBITED BLISTERS AROUND THE SIDE WALLS. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,491 AND THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,510.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 LINCOLN MKZ HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED DURING THE WINTER, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SHIFT GEARS TO LOW INDEPENDENTLY. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WITHOUT THE VEHICLE BEING ON, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED OUT OF PARK AND ROLLED AWAY. AS A RESULT OF THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A BARRIER. THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE OF RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 13V594000 (POWER TRAIN). HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
CAR ROLLS ON ITS OWN WITHOUT DEPRESSING BRAKE OR ENGAGING ANY GEAR. VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS ABOUT 5 TIMES IN PAST 6 MONTHS AND TWICE IN THE LAST 6 WEEKS. CAR IS VERY DANGEROUS AT "ANY SPEED" SINCE IT "RUNS" ON ITS OWN. FORD SHOULD RENAME THIS MKZ HYBRID VEHICLE EITHER: DMD FOR "DRIVING MISS DAISY" OR UAS FOR "UNSAFE AT ZERO" PUF FOR "PURE UNADULTERATED FICTION" FORD HAS LIED ABOUT CAR PERFORMANCE (ADVERTISED 45 MPG CITY + HIGHWAY FOR BOTH 2013 & 2014 HYBRID MODELS) WHEN I ONLY GET ABOUT 60% OF THAT - 28 MPG (DOCUMENTED) IN ORDER TO GAIN MARKET SHARE (HYBRIDS ESP. LEXUS). FORD BLAMES ITS OWN WIND TUNNEL TESTS FOR OVERSTATED MPG (MAYBE TESTED WITH HURRICANE SANDY AT THEIR BACK). NOW, THIS CAR DRIVES ITSELF, A NICE SAFETY FEATURE HUH ? AND, FORD NEVER ISSUED ME ANY RECALL ON ITS UNIQUE "INVISIBLE CHAUFFEUR DRIVEN" VEHICLE. *TR
COPY OF EMAIL TO FORD MOTOR ON APRIL 16, 2014: WE RECENTLY LEASED A 2014 LINCOLN MKZ. THE NEW PUSH BUTTON SHIFT CONTROL THAT WE ARE NOT ACCUSTOMED TO, RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH $1187 WORTH OF DAMAGES TO THE FRONT END. FORTUNATELY, THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND THE BUILDING/DRAIN PIPE WE HIT DID NOT SUSTAIN DAMAGE REQUIRING A POLICE REPORT OR INSURANCE CLAIM. SUMMARY: CAR LEASED FROM STAR LINCOLN ON FEBRUARY 22ND. WHILE DRIVING TO FLORIDA ON MARCH 22ND WE STOPPED FOR GASOLINE/COFFEE. AFTER FILLING THE CAR I WENT INSIDE THE SERVICE STATION. MY WIFE SUBSEQUENTLY MOVED THE CAR FROM THE PUMP AREA TO THE PARKING AREA IN FRONT OF THE SERVICE STATION. SHE THEN STOPPED THE CAR WITH THE BRAKE AND THOUGHT THE CAR WAS THEN IN PARK. UPON TAKING HER FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD HITTING THE BUILDING CORNER AND KNOCKING DOWN THE DRAIN PIPE. FIVE MORE FEET OVER, SHE WOULD HAVE CRASHED INTO THE SERVICE STATION WINDOW SO WE CONSIDER OURSELVES LUCKY. MY WIFE AND I ARE EXPERIENCED, LONG TIME DRIVERS AND FIND THE PUSH BUTTON SHIFT CONTROL INITIALLY CONFUSING. IN FACT WE ARE NOW BOTH SAYING ALOUD WHEN WE STOP TO PARK, PUSH PARK AND THEN OFF. I DO PLAN ON REPORTING THIS INCIDENT TO NHSTA TO SIMPLY BE ON THE RECORD. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION. TO NHTSA- WE REALIZE THIS IS A MATTER OF DRIVER ERROR AND NOT SURE WHAT CAN BE DONE BY AUTOMOTIVE COMPANIES TO HELP DRIVERS BE MORE ADEPT AT THE NEW TECHNOLOGY. *TT
INCIDENT 1: WHILE FILLING GAS TANK I LEFT THE HOSE UNATTENDED WHILE I WAITED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE PRESSURE IN THE TANK FROM FILLING THE VEHICLE WAS ENOUGH TO PUSH THE GAS SPOUT OUT OF THE TANK. AS A RESULT ABOUT 3 GALLONS OF FUEL SPILLED ON THE FLOOR. INCIDENT2: WHILE FILLING GAS TANK I WAS STANDING OVER THE HOSE, NOT HOLDING THE HANDLE. I WAS WAITING TO FILL UP THE VEHICLE. I WITNESSED THE SPOUT POP OUT OF THE GAS TANK AND GASOLINE SPILLED ON MY SHIRT, PANTS AND SHOES. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE WITH ANY VEHICLE. IT SEEMS IT NEEDS SOME SORT OR PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE SO THAT IT DOESN'T EJECT THE GASOLINE HOSE AND SPOUT SO VIOLENTLY. THE IN INDENTS HAPPENED TWO WEEKS APART. *TR
