When you turn the car off the accessory stays on. In other words it doesn’t shut off all the way. That is a hazard because the battery will go dead in time. I looked on the internet and found a lot of complaints about this issue with these cars. The car has a defective shifter switch. Mazda won’t recall the part even though there have been many complaints. This is a defective part. If a part is defective they should recall the part. I don’t see why I should have to pay $400.00 to put a $50 part in my car that is defective. My car is available for inspection upon request.
After driving when i got to put the vehicle into park- I place it in park but it gives me a error saying not in park
I think it is unfair that a manufacturing problem has been unnoticed and left to people to pay for. I am already paying enough for this car to also have to worry about a manufacturing problem that has been left unattended by the company. This certainly is very dangerous as I might have the cars battery die and have no way of getting immediate help and right now it's just the car not acknowledging the parking mode but what if one day the car starts using the wrong shift unknowingly to me and I end up in a car accident because of this? I wont be able to do anything as this has been left unnoticed and no recall has been made even with the dangers it presents to the driver and the car itself. TL* THE CONTACT OWED A 2014 MAZDA M6. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HER SON WAS DRIVING 55 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED INDEPENDENTLY AND CAUSED HIM TO DRIVE INTO A DITCH. THE CONTACT STATED SHE DOES NOT KNOW IF ANY WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE DRIVER DISLOCATED HIS LEFT SHOULDER AND HIS RIGHT SHOULDER WAS SPRAINED, BOTH HANDS WERE SPRAINED, HIS LEFT LEG WAS SPRAINED AND HE EXPERIENCED BACK PAINS. THE DRIVER WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL BY AN AMBULANCE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER DEEMED THE VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.

I OWN A 2014 MAZDA 6 GRAND TOURING. THE CAR HAS ABOUT 72K MILES ON IT. I BOUGHT THE CAR A YEAR AGO AND STARTING A FEW MONTHS AGO THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN OFF IMMEDIATELY AFTER HITTING THE IGNITION BUTTON. THE CAR PANEL WOULD SAY THAT I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARKING EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS ALREADY IN PARKING MODE. USUALLY I WAS ABLE TO SIMPLY MOVE THE SHIFT STICK A BIT AND IT WOULD ALLOW ME TO TURN THE CAR OFF COMPLETELY. BUT IT HAS GOTTEN WORST OVER TIME AND IT'S BEGINNING TO AFFECT MY BATTERY LIFE. MAZDA FOUND THE PROBLEM AND FIXED IT IN THE NEWER CARS BUT A RECALL WAS NEVER MADE FOR THOSE CARS WITH THE BAD SWITCH UNIT. I TRIED CONTACTING THEIR SUPPORT SYSTEM TODAY AND THEIR ANSWER WAS THAT BECAUSE A RECALL HADN'T BEEN DONE THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I THINK IT IS UNFAIR THAT A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM HAS BEEN UNNOTICED AND LEFT TO PEOPLE TO PAY FOR. A WOMAN BEING STRANDED IN AND EMPTY PARKING LOT AT NIGHT WITH NO SECURITY IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, I DON'T SEE WHAT IS. 2-3 MONTHS AGO I NOTICED THAT EMERGENCY HAND BRAKE WAS NOT HOLDING THE CAR AGAIN AFTER RECALL HAS BEEN COMPLETED BACK IN SEP 2017. NOW I ALWAYS LEAVE MY CAR PARKED ON THE 1ST GEAR (MANUAL TRANSMISSION). MY MECHANIC SAID THAT CALIPERS HAVE NEVER BEEN REPLACED AND THEY LOOK ORIGINAL ALSO HE SHOWED ME THAT BRAKE PADS ARE NOT BEING RELEASED AND GET STUCK REALLY HARD ON THE REAR AXIS. I FOUND THE INVOICE AND EVERYTHING THAT HAS BEEN REPLACED IS "PARKING BRAKE LEVER PER RECALL ORDER". ALSO MAZDA DECLINED FIXING/REPLACING BRAKE PADS THAT HAVE BEEN WORN OUT WITHING 1 YEAR AFTER I REPLACED THEM. THEY SAID THAT THIS CAN'T BE COVERED SINCE THE JOB HAS NOT BEEN DONE BY MAZDA SERVICE AND THE PARTS WERE AFTERMARKET. I HAD TO CHANGE PADS ON THE READ AXIS 2 TIMES IN ALMOST 1 YEAR AND NOW I HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN. ALSO I HEAR SQUEAKING NOISE WHEN I'M DRIVING. I CAN HEAR THAT THE PADS ARE NOT COMPLETELY RELEASED AND TOUCHING BRAKE DISKS. ALMOST A YEAR BEFORE THE RECALL MY CAR ROLLED DOWN THE SLOPE AND BLOCKED FAIRLY BUSY ROAD IN WASHINGTON DC. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FUEL ECONOMY WAS DIMINISHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE INSPECTED; HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO PINPOINT THE SOURCE OF THE FUEL ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS SUBSEQUENTLY TAKEN TO ROMANO MAZDA (LOCATED AT 3120 ERIE BLVD E, SYRACUSE, NY 13214, (315) 446-9666) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FUEL ODOR WAS DUE TO CORROSION BETWEEN THE FUEL TANK AND FUEL PUMP CONNECTION POINT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA BY THE MANUFACTURER. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THERE WOULD BE NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS METHOD DID NOT ALWAYS WORK AND THAT HE WOULD SOMETIMES HAVE TO MAKE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS FOR THE VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF. IT HAS HAPPENED A LOT. SOME OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS OF THE CAR SUCH AS RADIO, DISPLAY, ETC STAY ON WHEN IT IS TURNED OFF. I SPEND SEVERAL MINUTES MOVING BACK AND FORTH TO SHUT IT DOWN SUCCESSFULLY. THIS MIGHT CAUSE A SERIOUS PROBLEM LIKE BATTERY DRAIN ON A COLD DAY WHEN I AM IN A RUSH TO LEAVE THE CAR QUICKLY.

VEHICLE PUSH TO START FAILS WHEN SHUTTING OFF CAR. THE CAR'S NOT READING THAT IT IS IN PARK. ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF BUT ALL VEHICLE ELECTRONICS WILL STAY ON AND CAR CAN STILL BE SHIFED OUT OF GEAR. DEALERSHIP REPLACED GEAR SELECTOR SWITCH WHICH THEY SAID HAD A FAULTY SPRING.

FOR SEEMINGLY NO REASON, THE VEHICLE WILL RESTART AND STALL WHILE DRIVING AND MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS WILL ILLUMINATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING SLOW, FAST AND WHILE TURNING. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I NEED TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER AND RESTART THE ENGINE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON AND INDICATES AN ABRUPT VOLTAGE CHANGE ISSUE, BUT SOON TURNS OFF AFTER A FEW POWER CYCLES. THIS STARTED TO HAPPEN MORE AND MORE OFTEN, AND MORE RECENTLY, I HAD THE CAR NOT ABLE TO START AS IF THE BATTERY DIED. ALL MY ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, SUCH AS HEADLIGHTS AND HAZARD LIGHTS SHUT OFF AND AFTER ABOUT 10 SECONDS, THEY ALL TURNED BACK ON AND RUNNING NORMALLY. AT THIS POINT MY VEHICLE STARTED UP AGAIN JUST FINE. THIS HAS NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT A COUPLE TIMES AND NO MECHANIC HAS BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE YET. ALTHOUGH, THIS ISSUE SEEMS ALARMINGLY CLOSE TO A RECENT RECALL THAT WAS ANNOUNCED FOR 2018-2019 MAZDAS RELATING TO A SOFTWARE ISSUE THAT CAUSES UNEXPECTED ENGINE STALLING RELATING TO THE FUEL-SAVING CYLINDER DEACTIVATION TECHNOLOGY. UNFORTUNATELY, EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE CONTAINS THE SAME TECHNOLOGY, IT WASN'T INCLUDED ON THIS RECALL LIST.
AFTER A YEAR OR SO OF OWNING THE VEHICLE, THE MOISTURE AND FOG APPEARED IN THE INNER TAIL LIGHT HOUSING, PASSENGER SIDE. I HAVE REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO A MAZDA DEALERSHIP BUT THEY SAID IT IS NORMAL AND MAZDA WILL NOT REPLACE THE TAIL LIGHT HOUSING. EVENTUALLY, MORE AND MORE WATER STARTED TO ACCUMULATE INSIDE, WHERE AT POINTS THE HOUSING WOULD BE COMPLETELY FOGGY AND EXCESSIVE LIQUID WOULD BE VISIBLE IN THE CORNER OF THE HOUSING FROM FEW FEET OF DISTANCE. IT'S ONLY MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE WATER CAUSES ADDITIONAL ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, NOT TO MENTION THE COMPLETE LOSS OF LIGHT VISIBILITY AND HOUSING TRANSPARENCY, TO ALL OTHER DRIVERS WHO ARE IN THE REAR. MAZDA NEEDS TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE INSTEAD OF SAYING IT IS NORMAL. MY CAR IS PARKED IN A GARAGE AND IT IS NOT EXPOSED TOO OUTSIDE WEATHER FACTORS AT ALL TIMES, DURING THE DAY. IT IS WELL PROTECTED. I HAVE REPORTED THE ISSUE TO MAZDA SEVERAL TIMES BUT WITH NO SUCCESS.

THERE IS A RED LIGHT INDICATOR SAYING THAT THE TIRES ARE NOT BALANCED. THE LIGHT ON THE RADIO PANEL IS ON EVEN AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN SWITCHED OFF.
A YEAR AGO I TOOK MY CAR FOR A RECALL THAT HAD TO DO WITH THE HANDBRAKE SOMEHOW RUSTING OUT WHERE IT SITS IN THE REAR BRAKE CALIPERS. THEY INSPECTED THE CALIPERS AND TOLD ME THEY HAD TO ORDER PARTS. I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL. THE NEXT TIME I WENT BACK I ASKED ABOUT IT AND THEY SAID IT WAS FIX. AFTER THE VISIT THEY RECOMMENDED TO REPLACE THE REAR BRAKE CALIPERS. THE VEHICLE IS A MANUAL AND IS TO THE POINT WHERE THE HAND BRAKE DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. IT RUNS THE RISK OF ROLLING AWAY IF THE TRANSMISSION FAILS OR IT COMES OUT OF GEAR. IT IS CLEARLY STATED IN NHTSA #17V-393 AND I HAVE CALLED MAZDA CORPORATE WHO TOLD ME IT DOESN'T HAVE TO DO WITH THE CALIPERS ("YOUR MAZDA DEALER WILL CHECK THE PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR SHAFTS INSIDE THE LEFT AND RIGHT REAR BRAKE CALIPERS."). MAZDA REFERENCE NUMBER [XXX]. ALSO BECAUSE OF THE RUST THE HANDBRAKE IS LOSE SO IF YOU USE CRUISE CONTROL THE HANDLE CAN ACCIDENTAL PULL UP ENOUGH TO IGNITE THE HANDBRAKE LIGHT AND MAKE THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY TURN OFF CRUISE CONTROL WHICH IS SURPRISING AND COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER TO CRASH. WHEN EXPERIENCING THE ISSUE, ALL OF THE FOLLOWING OCCUR: 1) CANCEL BUTTON FUNCTIONS AS THE MINUS (DECELERATE) BUTTON, 2) THE MINUS BUTTON FUNCTIONS AS THE PLUS (ACCELERATE) BUTTON, 3) THE PLUS BUTTON DOESN'T WORK, AND 4) THE OFF BUTTON DISENGAGES THE CRUISE CONTROL BUT DOES NOT SHUTOFF THE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN POWER. THIS BEHAVIOR IS AN ISSUE BECAUSE WITH THE CANCEL BUTTON ACTING AS THE MINUS BUTTON, THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL ACTIVATE WITH THE CANCEL BUTTON. IN ADDITION, HAVING THE MINUS BUTTON FUNCTION AS THE PLUS BUTTON COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF THE CAR BEHAVES IN THE OPPOSITE MANNER AS EXPECTED. THE ISSUE OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING.
EARLY 2014 MAZDA 6'S WERE EQUIPPED WITH DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS. TO THE BEST OF MY UNDERSTAND A BEARNING OF THE WRONG DIAMETER WAS INSTALLED LEADING TO AN INITIAL SYMPTOM OF A HIGH PITCHED WHINE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. MAZDA'S SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, BUT IF IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY THIS COMES AT THE CUSTOMER'S OWN COST (~$5,000). THERE HAS BEEN A TSB ABOUT THIS FOR YEARS NOW #05-005-15-3027A. THE ISSUES ARE THAT THERE IS NO TELLING WHEN THE SYMPTOMS WILL OCCUR AND WHEN I ASKED MAZDA WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO THE TRANSMISSION IF I WASN'T REPLACED, THEY DECLINED TO GIVE ME AN ANSWER. IT IS OF CONCERN TO THE SAFETY OF DRIVERS THAT MAZDA DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM.
WHEN TRYING TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, THE CAR WILL NOT CUT OFF UNTIL AFTER 7 OR 8 TRIES
FOW (FORWARD OBSTRUCTION WARNING) INSPECTION REQUIRED FLASHES ON DASH AS IF A LOOSE CONNECTION. ONLY FLASHES FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS THEN GOES AWAY. I MANUALLY TURNED OFF FOW TO STOP THE FLASHING. BUT WILL TURN BACK ON ONCE I RESTART THE CAR. THE CRUISE CONTROL OFF/ON SWITCH SEEMS TO AFFECT THE WARNING FLASHES AS WELL. ONCE THE CAR WARMS UP, THINGS SEEM NORMAL. DURING DRIVING THIS EFFECTS THE CRUISE CONTROL AND SYSTEM OVERALL. HAPPENS EVERY TIME I START THE CAR AND START DRIVING
WHEN PLACING THE CAR IN PARK AND PRESSING THE PUSH START/STOP, THE CAR WILL NOT TURN COMPLETELY OFF. I HAVE TO REPEATEDLY PLACE THE GEAR IN ALL DNRP SEVERAL TIMES(5 OR MORE) BEFORE THE CAR REALIZES IT IS FULLY IN PARK AND ALL POWER TURNS COMPLETELY OFF. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DO THIS IN ORDER TO TURN THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY OFF. THE VEHICLE IS IN STOP POSITION AND IN PARK. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT POWER ALL THE WAY OFF. LEAVING THE RADIO AND LIGHTS ON AND DISABLES THE ABILITY TO LOCK THE DOORS OR SET THE ALARM.
VEHICLE STALLS OUT WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEED, 65 MPH. LIGHTS ALL COME ON ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. HAS BEEN DOING THIS MORE OFTEN NOW. MENTIONED IT TO BERGE MAZDA IN AZ WHEN TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE.
WHEN PLACING THE CAR IN PARK AND PUSHING THE OFF/ON BUTTON AN ERROR MESSAGE WILL APPEAR SAYING THE VEHICLE MUST BE IN PARK WHEN IT IS AND SHOWS THAT ON THE DASHBOARD AND BY LOOKING AT THE GEAR SHIFTER. THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT SO YOU CAN TURN OFF THE ELECTRICITY TO THE ACCESSORIES AND BE ABLE TO LOCK YOUR CAR IS TO START IT AGAIN, PUT IT INTO A DIFFERENT GEAR, AND TRY AGAIN. SOMETIMES IT WILL WORK ONE THE SECOND ATTEMPT BUT MOST TIMES IT TAKES 4 ATTEMPTS FOR ME TO GET IT TO RECOGNIZE THAT IT'S IN PARK.
WITH NO CONSISTANCEY, THE CAR WOULD LOOSE POWER. AT TIMES, I THOUGHT THE CAR WOULD LOOSE FULL POWER, IN THE MIDDLE OF MY COMMUTE, I WOULD BE FORCED TO PULL OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. MOST TIMES, THE CAR WOULD RETURN TO NORMAL CONDITIONS. WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN FOR REPAIR, BYERS MAZDA OF COLUMBUS, TOLD ME IT NEEDED A TUNE-UP. ONCE AGAIN, THE CAR ALMOST STALLED OUT AND I MANAGED TO COAST INTO A PARKING SPACE. NOW THE SAME DEALERSHIP IS INFORMING ME FOR THE FIRST TIME THAT THE CAR HAS AN I-LOOP SYSTEM AND THE BATTERY THAT SHOULD HAVE LASTED FIVE YEARS, NOW LESS THAN THE 3 YEARS OLD, NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR OVER $500.00. I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND ALTHOUGH IT WAS MY MISTAKE, THE DEALERSHIP NEVER DISCLOSED THE I-LOOP SYSTEM AND THE PROBLEMS THAT GO WITH IT. THIS I-LOOP BATTERY WILL APPARENTLY LAST 2-3 YEARS ONLY AND IS VERY EXPENSIVE. I GUESS IT IS LEGAL FOR DEALERSHIP SALES REPS TO MISREPRESENT THE CAR MAINTENANCE BECAUSE THEY SAY IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO KNOW WHAT I PURCHASED. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM BYERS AUTO FOR ANY MODEL CAR!

THIS SEEMS TO BE THE SAME THING AS RECORDED IN THE MAZDA SERVICE BULLETIN 02-010/16 AND SUGGEST POSSIBLY MAKING IT A RECALL INSTEAD OF A SERVICE BULLETIN.

ENGINE WON'T SHUT OFF SOMETIMES WHEN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IS IN PARK. PUSH THE ENGINE OFF BUTTON THE ENGINE IS OFF ACCESSORIES AND INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ARE ON AS IF TRYING TO START THE ENGINE. PUSH THE ENGINE START BUTTON STARTS THE ENGINE. IT'LL KEEP CYCLING THESE TWO MODE AND CAN'T TURN OFF ENGINE COMPLETELY. DEALER KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM OCCURRING IN MAZDA6. $400 TO REPLACE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY. THEY SUGGEST I SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL W/ BRAKES ON TO TURN OFF ENGINE, THEN SHIFT TO PARK. CHANCE OF ACCIDENT INCREASE WITH THIS "SUGGESTION".
PROBLEM WITH SHIFT CONTROL/PARK SWITCH.. CAR WOULD BE IN A STATIONARY POSITION AND IGNITION WOULD BE SHUT DOWN. INTERIOR CONTROLLED ITEMS (I.E. RADIO, HEAT/AIR SYSTEM, LIGHTING, ETC. WOULD REMAIN ON AND WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. I WOULD ATTEMPT TO START/RESTART VEHICLE TO SEE IF THE CAR (AND ALL SYSTEMS) WOULD SHUT DOWN - THEY WOULD NOT. ONLY WAY I COULD COMPLETELY TURN OFF THE CAR AND ALL SYSTEMS WAS TO PLACE THE CAR IN REVERSE OR DRIVE MODE AND THEN PUT THE CAR BACK IN THE PARK POSITION. THIS OPTION WORKED FOR A SHORT WHILE AND THEN IT STOPPED WORKING. MY BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DRAINED AND I ENDED UP REPLACING MY CAR BATTERY AND ULTIMATELY I HAD TO TAKE MY CAR INTO AN AUTHORIZED MAZDA DEALER TO HAVE THE GEAR PARK SWITCH BUTTON REPLACED. DEALER STATED THEY HAD NUMEROUS CUSTOMERS THAT EXPERIENCE SAME PROBLEM AND RESOLUTION. I CHECKED ONLINE AND SAW MANY CUSTOMERS ALSO EXPERIENCED SAME PROBLEM AND SAME NECESSARY REPAIR TO THE VEHICLE. BATTERY REPLACEMENT WAS APPROXIMATELY $130.00 AND THE GEAR/PARK SWITCH REPAIR WORK WAS $245.37. I HAVE A COPY OF THE INVOICE FOR THE REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR WORK, BUT AM UNABLE TO SCAN.

WHEN TURNING MY STEERING WHEEL ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE AND I CAN FEEL IT IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN STRAIGHTENING OUT THE WHEEL. THE NOISE COULD ALSO BE DESCRIBED AS A KNOCKING THAT CAN BE FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL, WHILE NOT IN MOTION, OR VERY SLOW MOTION, AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN STATIONARY FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. THIS ISSUE TYPICALLY HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR SITS FOR LONGER THAN 8 HOURS. IT IS MOST COMMONLY FELT WHEN BACKING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY. I'LL BACK OUT AND TURN MY WHEEL ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT AND FEEL OR HEAR A SLIGHT CLUNK, THEN AFTER I SHIFT INTO DRIVE AND START MOVING FORWARD WHILE STRAITENING OUT MY WHEEL, I ALMOST ALWAYS FEEL AND HEAR A CLUNK OR CLUNK-KNOCK WHILE PUTTING THE WHEEL STRAIGHT. AFTER THIS INITIAL TIME, I DO NOT FEEL IT AGAIN UNLESS THE CAR SITS FOR A WHILE. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN FREQUENTLY WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL THE OTHER DIRECTION. I TOOK THIS INTO THE DEALER AND THEY BELIEVE IT TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER. IT IS OUT OF FACTORY WARRANTY. THEY BELIEVE IT MAY BE SIMILAR TO OR IDENTICAL TO TSB 02-002/18. THE DEALER CHECKED THE STEERING AND SUSPENSION COMPONENTS, ALL WERE TIGHT, SO IT WAS NOT A SAFETY CONCERN. THEY RECOMMENDED PERFORMING THE REPAIRS IN THE ABOVE MENTIONED SERVICE BULLETIN. I FIRST STARTED NOTICING THIS ISSUE SHORTLY AFTER THE 3 YEAR MARK ON MY VEHICLE. THE REPAIR COSTS ARE TOO HIGH TO ADDRESS UNLESS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH I WAS TOLD IT WASN'T.
WHEN SHIFTING THE CAR TO PARK, THE ELECTRICITY WILL STAY ON TO THE VEHICLE. SOMETIMES AFTER FORCEFULLY PUTTING THE SHIFTER INTO PARK WILL THE CAR SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. I HAVE HAD TIMES WHERE IT TAKES 30+ TRIES TO SHUT THE CAR OFF COMPLETELY. THIS HAS RESULTED IN 2 DEAD BATTERIES WHEN OTHERS ARE DRIVING MY CAR, AND THE PROBLEM IS NOT KNOWN TO THEM.

MAZDA NORTH AMERICA OPERATIONS (MAZDA) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2014 MAZDA3 VEHICLES MANUFACTURED JUNE 12, 2013, THROUGH DECEMBER 18, 2013, AND MODEL YEAR 2014-2015 MAZDA6 VEHICLES MANUFACTURED MAY 20, 2013, THROUGH DECEMBER 4, 2013, AND BOTH EQUIPPED WITH A 2.5L ENGINE AND A REGENERATIVE ENGINE BRAKING SYSTEM. WHEN DRIVING THE AFFECTED VEHICLES IN HEAVY RAIN OR IN DEEP PUDDLES, THE ALTERNATOR BELT MAY SLIP CAUSING THE POWER CONTROL MODULE (PCM) TO INCORRECTLY ASSUME FAILURE OF THE CHARGING SYSTEM. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE BRAKES/PARKING BRAKE THAT WAS ISSUED IN JUNE 2017 BUT MAZDA IS UNABLE TO MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS AND IT IS NOW OCTOBER 18! THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE SO THIS FORM IS ASKING "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?" BUT THIS IS NOT JUST A ONE-TIME EVENT. IT FEELS AS IF THE BRAKES ARE DRAGGING EVERY DAY AND HAS FELT THAT WAY FOR MONTHS.
WHEN PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK AND PRESSING THE START/STOP BUTTON, THE CAR DOES NOT SHUT OFF. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS NOW THAT I KNOW OF AND PERSISTENTLY GETS WORSE.

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A TOWING LOT. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V393000 (PARKING BRAKE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.

STARTED HAPPENING ABOUT 3 YEARS AFTER PURCHASED BRAND NEW.

THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A TREE AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV AS IF ATTEMPTING TO CONTINUE ACCELERATING. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISES TO THE UPPER BODY, WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION CENTER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO FEEL THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SEA COAST MAZDA DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. MY AUTOMATIC 2014 MAZDA 6 TOURING DOWN-SHIFTS THE TRANSMISSION WHEN THE "HANGUP" OR "ANSWER" BUTTON ON THE STEERING WHEEL IS PRESSED WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. THIS ISSUE WAS RECOGNIZED BY ME ON SATURDAY MAY 20, 2017. I WAS CONNECTED TO BLUETOOTH SPEAKING WITH MY WIFE WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 65MPH ON THE FREEWAY. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PRESS THE "HANGUP" BUTTON ON MY STEERING WHEEL, MY VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED GEARS CAUSING MY CAR TO REV UP TO 5,000-6,000 RPM. WITHOUT FIRST REALIZING THE CAUSE AND IN AN ABSOLUTE PANIC, I ATTEMPTED TO PUT MY CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN BACK INTO DRIVE IN ORDER FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO CATCH THE CORRECT GEAR; ALL WHILE DRIVING 65MPH ON THE FREEWAY. THIS MANEUVER ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO CORRECT ITSELF TO THE APPROPRIATE RPM. I LATER LEARNED THAT MULTIPLE PRESSES OF EITHER THE "HANGUP" OR "ANSWER" BUTTON WILL DOWNSHIFT THE VEHICLE FURTHER REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING, THEREFORE INCREASING THE RISK OF SURPASSING SAFE RPMS WHILE DRIVING. I WAS ABLE TO REPRODUCE THIS EFFECT EVERY TIME THEREAFTER. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON TUESDAY MAY 23, 2017 AND THEY CLAIMED TO "NEVER HEARD OF THAT BEFORE". THE DEALER CLAIMS TO HAVE IDENTIFIED THE ISSUE AND SUGGESTS "REPLACING THE SPIRAL CABLE BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL." FOR REFERENCE, MY VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE PADDLE SHIFTERS. I AM VERY VERY CONCERNED ABOUT PUSHING OTHER BUTTONS IN MY VEHICLE IN FEAR THAT SOMETHING ELSE MAY CAUSE ME TO LOSE CONTROL AND CRASH MY VEHICLE - INJURING MYSELF OR OTHERS.
AFTER HAVING THE DEALER TIGHTEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE THE E-BRAKE STOPPED WORKING AGAIN SO I TIGHTENED THE CABLE AGAIN AND THAT DIDN'T WORK. EVIDENTLY THERE THOUSANDS OF 2014 MAZDA6S' WITH THIS POOR DESIGN. THERE IS A FLAW IN THE DESIGN OF THE REAR E-BRAKE MECHANISM. SHAME ON YOU MAZDA FOR LETTING SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS THIS GET PAST YOUR "ENGINEERS".
I HAD MY CAR PARKED ON A HILL, IT IS A MANUAL AND I LEFT IT RUNNING & HAD THE GEAR IN A NEUTRAL POSITION WITH THE EMERGENCY BREAK ON. I WAS FEEDING MY NEIGHBORS PIGS WHEN I NOTICED MY CAR STARTING TO ROLL BACKWARDS SO I JUMPED IN THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE CAR WHILE IT WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS TO STOP THE CAR WITH MY FOOT BREAK. TAKATA RECALL: I WAS HIT FROM BEHIND VERY HARD AND THEN HIT FROM SIDE BY ANOTHER CAR AND KNOCKED OFF FREEWAY ON TO A FENCE. MY 2014 MAZDA 6 HAS 68000 MILES. WITHIN THE LAST FEW WEEKS WHILE DRIVING GOING 55 AROUND CORNERS, HAS HAD A "POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION" LIGHT POP UP AND THE STEERING TOTALLY LOCKS UP FOR A FEW SECONDS CAUSING ME TO NEARLY HIT MULTIPLE CARS. I BELIEVE MY ISSUE HAS TO DO WITH SOMETHING ELECTRICAL THAT I HAD CHECKED ON MY CAR AT 34000 MILES RIGHT BEFORE THE WARRANTY WAS UP. MY CAR HAS A RADAR THAT PERFORMS FOR RADAR CRUISE CONTROL AND SMART CITY BRAKING, I GOT MANY MESSAGES SAYING THAT THE RADAR ISN'T WORKING AND THAT IT NEEDS INSPECTIONS. I BROUGHT IT IN AT 34000 MILES AND THEY RESET SOMETHING SO THE CAR WOULDN'T SHOW THE MESSAGE AND TOLD ME IT WAS FIXED, I THEN STARTED DOING THIS AFTER THE WARRANTY ENDED AND I FIGURED IT WASN'T A SAFETY ISSUE SO I DIDN'T FIGHT IT. NOW I BELIEVE THAT THE SAME ISSUE THAT CAUSES THIS LIGHT TO COME ON IS WHAT IS CAUSING THE STEERING TO LOCK UP BECAUSE AS THE STEERING LOCKS UP THE RADAR INSPECTION LIGHT ALSO TURNS ON. SO NOW THAT THEY DIDN'T FIX IT WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN THE FIRST PLACE, I AM HAVING SAFETY ISSUES AND THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT EVEN THOUGH I TRIED TO GET IT FIXED EARLIER ON. NOW THEY ARE GOING TO CHARGE ME $170 JUST TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, THEN THE PRICE IT COST FOR LABOR AND PARTS TO FIX IT WHEN I GO IN, THIS IS RIDICULOUS BECAUSE I TRIED TO FIX IT UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY DID NOTHING. I WAS AT A STOPLIGHT WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED TO REV UP, THEN I HEARD A THUD AND THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD AND IT FELT LIKE I WAS HIT FROM BEHIND. I PULLED OVER TO CHECK FOR DAMAGE BUT NOTHING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AS I SEE ON THE WEB OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME EXPERIENCE. THE CAR IS GOING TO THE MAZDA DEALER ASAP TO SEE IF THEY CAN CORRECT THE PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON, MY CAR ATOMATICALLY SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND SLOWED DOWN RAPIDLY. A SHORT TIME LATER, THE FORWARD OBSTRUCTION WARNING INDICATOR CAME ON AND SAID AN INSPECTION WAS NEEDED. MAZDA DEALERSHIP SAID "NEVER HEARD OF THAT" DESPITE SIMILAR PUBLIC COMMENTS ON USER FORUMS. DEALER WILL NOT COVER FULL COST OF THE REPAIR BECUASE CARE IT OUT OF WARRANTY. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD NOT FALL UNDER NORMAL WARRANTY CONSIDERATIONS.
MF WEBSITE DOES NOT LIST STATUS OF TAKATA RECALL OF AIR BAG INFLATORS
BLIND SPOT MONITOR (BSM), STOPPED WORKING. DEALER COULD NOT SUBMIT A WARRANTY CLAIM TO MAZDA, CLAIMING SCRATCHES ON REAR BUMPER/FASCIA INDICATED A COLLISION. THESE WERE COSMETIC SCRATCHES. THEY WERE THERE FOR MANY MONTHS BEFORE BSM STOPPED WORKING. PHOTOS AND NOTES SENT TO MAZDAUSA, FILE 1-271657193. MAZDA ALSO WOULD NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY, SAYING THESE SCRATCHES COULD CAUSE THE BSM TO FAIL, AND TO FILE AN INSURANCE CLAIM. SCRATCHES ARE ALMOST UNNOTICEABLE UNLESS LOOKED FOR. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A PARKING LOT DING, A SHOPPING CART, BASKETBALL, ETC. HARD TO BELIEVE THIS BSM SYSTEM, PLACED IN THE BUMPER AREA OF A CAR COULD BE SO FRAGILE. BSM STOPPED WORKING WHILE ON A 25 MILE DRIVE. IT STOPPED WORKING ABOUT 10 MINUTES AFTER THE DRIVE STARTED, NOT IMMEDIATELY WHEN STARTING THE CAR. IT HASN'T WORKED SINCE. DOING A GOOGLE SEARCH, I FOUND SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO THIS.
UPON TURNING ON MY CAR (FLAT SURFACE, MIDDLE OF THE DAY, ALREADY DRIVEN THAT MORNING), I RECEIVED AN AT FAILURE NOTICE, MASTER WARNING LIGHT, SCBS FAILURE NOTICE, AND A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE CAR HAD BEEN SEEN 5 DAYS PRIOR FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND INSPECTION. ALL MARKS WERE NOTED AS "GREEN." THE ENGINE SOUNDED FINE, THE SHIFTING OF THE TRANSMISSION SMOOTH, AND NO ISSUES WERE SEEN/FELT/HEARD/NOTICED AS OF YET. THE DEALER REFUSED TO RUN A DIAGNOSTICS TEST AS IT IS A SATURDAY.
I RECENTLY REPLACED MY FRONT BRAKES DUE TO NORMAL WEAR. I TOOK MY CAR TO A LOCAL MADZA DEALERSHIP, AND WHEN THE JOB WAS COMPLETED, MY BRAKES BEGAN TO MAKE ODD NOISES ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. I TOOK THE CAR BACK, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT BRAKES MAKE NOISES. I TOLD THEM, THAT WASN'T TRUE. PRIOR TO THE NEW BRAKE JOB, MY ORIGINAL BRAKES DIDN'T MAKE ODD NOISES. I THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER MADZA DEALERSHIP. AGAIN, I WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG. MEANWHILE, WHEN O ENGAGE THE BRAKES, THERE'S A STRANGE NOISE THAT CONTINUES ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. I'VE READ CAR FORUMS ONLINE, AND IT SAID THE BRAKES ARE THE WRONG SIZE FOR THESE MODEL VEHICLES. MADZA NEEDS TO FIX THE PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED. THIS HAPPENS WHILE USING THE BRAKING SYSTEM.

MOISTURE IS CONDENSING IN REAR LIGHTS WHICH IS OBSTRUCTING OTHER DRIVERS ABILITY TO SEE THE VEHICLE.
DRIVING THROUGH RAIN IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND THE CAR STALLED AND WILL NOT RESTART. ENGINE SEIZE PER DEALER. WE UNDERSTAND OTHER MAZDA'S HAVE BEEN RECALLED DUE TO THIS ISSUE. WE REQUESTED THE CAR TO BE CHECKED FOR A POSSIBLE RECALL WITHOUT SUCCESS BECAUSE OUR VIN DOES NOT FALL IN THE RECALL. WE OFFERED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THEM TO TEST IT WHICH THEY DECLINED TO DO.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A STREET @ 40MPH WHEN THE INFOTAINMENT, SPEEDOMETER, SHUT OFF AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE STABILITY CONTROL WARNING CAME ON AND STAYED ON. AFTER A BRIEF MOMENT, THE STABILITY WARNING TURNED OFF, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON. THE CAR DROVE NORMALLY FOR THE REST OF THE DAY, BUT THE VERY NEXT DAY, AT A STOP LIGHT, THE SAME THING OCCURRED, BUT THIS TIME, I COULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 2000 RPMS, NOR REACH 20 MPH. I PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE, AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. THEN TURNED IT BACK ON. IT DROVE NORMALLY WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THE REST OF THE DAY, BUT THIS COULD BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
WHILE ACCELERATING ON 2 OCCASIONS IN PAST 2 MONTHS, THE ENGINE WILL LOSE POWER WITHOUT WARNING. IT IS STILL RUNNING BUT WILL NOT GO FASTER THAN ABOUT 10 MILES AN HOUR. THE FIRST TIME OCCURED WHILE PULLING OUT ON A ROAD AND ALMOST CAUSED A COLLISION AND THE SECOND TIME WAS ON A BUSY INTERSTATE WHILE PASSING A VEHICLE AND HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES AND THE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON. IT WILL WORK NORMALLY AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE AND IT CLEARS THE LIGHTS. I HAD IT LOOKED AT BY A MAZDA DEALERSHIP THE FIRST TIME AND THEY SAID IT WAS A CRACKED SPARK PLUG AND REPLACED IT. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM JUST HAPPENED AGAIN.. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AS THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN!
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT APPROX. 65 MPH. STEERING STARTED FEELING A LITTLE "SOFT" AND THEN IMMEDIATELY STARTED FEELING "NOTCHY" AND THE DASHBOARD ANNUNCIATOR PANEL STARTED GIVING WARNINGS "POWER STEERING FAILURE" "STEERING WILL BE DIFFICULT", "SCBS NEEDS INSPECTION", "FOW NEEDS INSPECTION". THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM (TCS)/ DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (DSC) INDICATOR IN THE TACHOMETER DISPLAY AREA LIT UP AND STAYED ILLUMINATED (I BELIEVE THAT INDICATES A TCS/DSC MALFUNCTION). WE WERE ABOUT 2 MILES TO THE INTERSTATE EXIT AND ANOTHER 3 MILES TO OUR HOME SO WE DROVE AT REDUCED SPEED TO EXIT AND THEN TO HOME. CAR WOULD OCCASIONALLY TRY TO JERK TO THE SIDE, OCCASIONALLY REQUIRE SIGNIFICANT EXTRA FORCE (INTERMITTENTLY) TO STEER, OCCASIONALLY ONLY NEEDED "NORMAL" AMOUNT OF EFFORT TO STEER, OCCASIONALLY THERE WOULD BE A LOUD "GROWLING" WITH A SIGNIFICANT VIBRATION THAT COULD BE FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. *TR
WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED FROM DRIVER SIDE TOP UNDER WEATHERSTRIP AND CONTINUED ABOUT 18 INCHES AND CONTINUING TO CRACK. CAR WAS PARKED FOR 2 DAYS AT HOUSE. NO SITE OF ANYTHING IMPACTING IT, JUST A LONG SMOOTH CRACK FROM UNDER THE RUBBER. I BELIEVE IT TO BE A STRESS CRACK FROM DESIGN FLAW. *TR

A SPARE TIRE REPLACED THE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,635.
I HAD TWO INCIDENTS DUE TO LOW TIRE PRESSURE WHILE I WAS RIDING THE CAR WITH MY 2 YEARS OLD CHILD. THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED IN MAY 2014 WHEN ONE OF THE TIRES WENT FLAT. WHILE I WAS DRIVING I FELT THE CAR IS IMBALANCED. I WAS TRYING TO PULL OVER AT THE HIGHWAY TO INSPECT THE CAR. AFTER A WHILE I FOUND A SAFE PLACE AND PULLED OVER AND FOUND THAT ONE OF THE TIRES ARE GOING FLAT. HOWEVER, THE TIRE ALARM SYSTEM DIDN'T SHOW ANYTHING OR DIDN'T BEEP. THE TIRE PRESSURE ALARM WENT ON AND STARTED BEEPING JUST WHEN THE TIRE WAS ALMOST FLAT AND LUCKILY I WAS BY THE TIRE CENTER ANYWAY. THE SECOND INCIDENT HAPPENED IN SEPTEMBER 2014. I FELT THE CAR IS SOMEWHAT GOING OUT OF CONTROL BUT AGAIN, NO TIRE PRESSURE ALARM. SUDDENLY TWO TIRES BLOWN OFF AND THE RIMS GOT DAMAGED TOO. IT WAS A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE AS THE ROAD WAS VERY NARROW, NO ROAD SHOULDER AND I HAD TO DRIVE A LITTLE WHILE ON THE RIMS TO FIND A SHOULDER THAT I COULD STOP. I FIXED THE CAR FOR TIRES AND RIMS AND NOW AFTER A WHILE I RECEIVED THE RECALL LETTER ABOUT MAZDA'S TIRE PRESSURE ALARM SOFTWARE ISSUES. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY UPDATED THE SOFTWARE AS PART OF RECALL. I REQUESTING REFUND FOR THE EXPENSES IN MY TWO INCIDENTS DUE TO SAFETY ISSUES. I PRESSED THE IGNITION STOP BUTTON BUT EXITED THE VEHICLE WITHOUT PUTTING IT IN PARK. I DID NOT NOTICE ANY WARNING THAT THE CAR HAD BEEN TURNED OFF AND EXITED WITHOUT BEING IN PARK. I DID NOT SEE OR HEAR ANYTHING HIT MY WINDSHIELD THAT DAY, AND DID NOT SEE ANY CRACKS AFTER I PARKED THE CAR. FILED A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE AND THE AUTO GLASS COMPANY I WAS WORKING WITH, AS WELL AS MAZDA, TOLD ME THAT THE WINDSHIELD WAS ON BACKORDER WITH NO ETA AVAILABLE. AFTER ABOUT OVER 2 MONTHS OF WAITING, AND THE CRACK BECOMING OVER 2FT LONG AND SPLITTING. THE WINDSHIELD FINALLY CAME IN AND WAS REPLACED. NOT EVEN 2 WEEKS LATER, DID THIS NEW WINDSHIELD GAIN ANOTHER 1FT+ LONG CRACK. THIS TIME I SAW THE DEBRIS HIT, BUT IT DID NOT HIT AT HIGH SPEEDS OR HAVE A HARD IMPACT. THIS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE DESIGN OF THIS WINDSHIELD CAN BE EASILY DAMAGED AND/OR IS PRONE TO CRACKING. UPON A ROUTINE TIRE ROTATION SERVICE PERFORMED AT A GOOD YEAR RETAIL SERVICE CENTER, I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN THAT THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE HAD SUFFERED A DEFECT AND WAS UNSAFE FOR TRAVEL AT HIGHWAY SPEED. WHEN SEARCHING FOR A REPLACEMENT OF THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRE, A DUNLOP SP5000 P225 19R45, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TIRE WAS ON NATIONWIDE BACK ORDER. GOOD YEAR, BEING THE OWNER, MANUFACTURER AND DISTRIBUTOR OF DUNLOP TIRES, INFORMED ME THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND OR LOCATE A RELIABLE REPLACEMENT FOR MY DEFECTIVE TIRE WITHIN A FORESEEABLE TIME PERIOD, AND INSTRUCTED ME TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP, RAY BRANDT MAZDA IN HARVEY, LOUISIANA, WAS LOCATED OVER 50 MILES AWAY. I THEN DROVE THE VEHICLE TO RAY BRANDT AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE THAT NO EQUIVALENT REPLACEMENT WOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR MY 2014 MAZDA6 FOR AT LEAST 3 TO 5 DAYS. I ASKED WHAT I SHOULD DO IN THE MEANTIME, AND WAS TOLD THAT I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR EITHER DRIVING THE VEHICLE OR FINDING A REPLACEMENT AT MY OWN EXPENSE. IT HAS SINCE TAKEN NINE DAYS SINCE THE TIME IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A DEFECTIVE TIRE HAD COMPROMISED THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE CAR FOR A REPLACEMENT TIRE TO BE LOCATED AND DELIVERED TO THE DEALERSHIP, MEANWHILE THERE HAS BEEN NO ATTEMPT BY THE MANUFACTURER OF THE TIRE, GOOD YEAR, OR THE VEHICLE, MAZDA, TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE DEFECT OR PROVIDE REPLACEMENT TRANSPORTATION. IN PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS (2009-2013), THE LOWER CONTROL ARM APPEARS TO BE A SINGLE, SOLID, FORGED STEEL PIECE WITH AN INTEGRATED BALL JOINT, A DESIGN FOR WHICH A SIDE FORCE IS UNLIKELY TO SEPARATE THE BALL FROM THE CONTROL ARM WITHOUT SHEARING THE BALL STUD. THE LOWER CONTROL ARM IN THE 2014 MODEL YEAR IS A NEW DESIGN MADE FROM A STAMPED STEEL PLATE WITH A SEPARATE BALL JOINT. THE HOUSING OF THE BALL JOINT IS PRESSED INTO A STAMPED HOLE WITH A LIP IN THE PLATE. THE SIDES OF THE CONTROL ARM HAVE STRENGTHENING LIPS THAT EXTEND ONLY TO ABOUT THE CENTER OF THE BALL JOINT AND THEN STOP. THE OUTER END OF THE CONTROL ARM IS A FLAT PLATE WITHOUT A STRENGTHENING LIP. THE FLAT OUTER END WAS FOLDED BACK FLAT OVER THE TOP OF THE CONTROL ARM IN THIS ACCIDENT.

THIS HAS CAUSED ME NOT TO USE THE USB IPOD CONNECTION AND USE ONLY THE AUX. THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A GREAT BOSE SOUND SYSTEM BUT YOU CAN'T EXPERIENCE THE QUALITY DUE TO USING THE AUX VS THE USB IPOD DEVICE. IN THIS SITUATION, THE TOP THIRD OF THE REAR VIEW VIDEO IS COVERED BY A MESSAGES THAT SAYS THE CAR'S FM RADIO IS TURNED OFF. 2. RECEIVING A TEXT MESSAGE. IF A TEXT MESSAGE IS RECEIVED WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE, THE ENTIRE REAR VIEW VIDEO IS COVERED BY A MESSAGE THAT ASKS IF THE CAR SHOULD DOWNLOAD THE NEW MESSAGE. 3. IF THERE IS A BLUETOOTH GPS DEVICE IN THE CAR. WHEN THE BLUETOOTH DEVICE FIRST CONNECTS AND ACTIVATES THE CAR'S AUDIO/VOICE SYSTEM, THE REAR VIEW CAMERA TURNS OFF AND WILL NOT TURN BACK ON. THE CAR'S AUDIO PAGE IS DISPLAYED INSTEAD OF THE CAMERA VIDEO. DUE TO THESE APPARENT DEFECTS, THE ONLY WAY TO SAFELY DRIVE THE CAR IN REVERSE IS TO TURN OFF ALL BLUETOOTH DEVICES, THEN START THE CAR, WAIT FOR THE CAR'S AUDIO SYSTEM TO COMPLETE ITS START UP, AND ONLY THEN SHIFT INTO REVERSE TO BEGIN DRIVING. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 MAZDA, MAZADA6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, THE FRONT GLASS WINDSHIELD BECAME SHATTERED UNEXPECTEDLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, NOTICED THAT THE HOOD SHOOK/VIBRATED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AT ANY SPEED OVER 60 MPH. HOOD ALSO BEGAN TO SHAKE AT SLOW SPEEDS ON ROUGH ROADS IN TOWN OR OVER ANY SLIGHT BUMP IN THE ROAD. DEALER CONFIRMED THE SHAKING THROUGH TWO SEPARATE SERVICE VISITS, STATING THAT IT WAS NORMAL OPERATION AND THAT THEY COULD NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE. SHAKING/VIBRATING GREW WORSE AS TIME PASSED AND MAZDA CORPORATE SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE. VEHICLE WAS TRADED IN AFTER JUST THREE MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS AND THE OVERALL LACK OF CONCERN FROM MAZDA ON CORRECTING THE ISSUE. *JB
A SMALL ROCK STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD AND CHIPPED IT WITH 1 INCH CRACKS AROUND THE DENT AT 6PM. BY 6 AM THE NEXT MORNING THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED FROM THE LEFT EDGE THROUGH THE CHIP AND TO THE RIGHT 18 INCHES. BY THE FOLLOWING DAY THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED MORE THAN TWO FEET. MAZDA DID NOT HAVE ANY REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELDS IN THE U.S. AT THIS TIME (AUGUST 19TH) AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WOULD NOT HAVE UNTIL AUGUST 30TH. AS OF SEPTEMBER 12TH A REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD STILL HASN'T ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE WINDSHIELD REPAIR COMPANY STATED THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL 2014 MAZDA 6'S WITH BROKEN WINDSHIELDS AWAITING REPLACEMENT DUE TO DELAYS IN RESUPPLYING THEM. THE WINDSHIELD IS NOW CRACKED APPROXIMATELY 50% ACROSS. *TR
THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN MAKES A VIBRATING NOISE WHEN THE CAR'S DRIVING ON BUMPY ROADS, SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING'S LOOSEN. I DISCOVERED IT RIGHT AFTER I PICKED UP THE CAR FROM THE DEALER LOT WHEN IT HAD 115 MILES. I WENT BACK TO A MAZDA DEALER TO REPORT THE PROBLEM AND THEY SAID IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT THEY'VE SEEN BEFORE AND MAZDA HAD A SOLUTION FOR IT. SO THEY FIXED IT, BUT THAT WAS TWO WEEKS AGO AND NOW THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN IS MAKING THE VIBRATING NOISE AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 MAZDA MAZDA6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 68 MPH, THE RADAR OPERATED CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO INDEPENDENTLY DECELERATE TO 55 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NOT ANOTHER VEHICLE AHEAD OF HIM WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THERE WAS A SEMI-TRUCK LOCATED TO THE RIGHT OF THE CONTACTS VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN RE-CALIBRATED THE RADAR SYSTEM HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100. *TR

Mazda North America Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain model year 2014 Mazda3 vehicles manufactured June 12, 2013, through December 18, 2013, and model year 2014-2015 Mazda6 vehicles manufactured May 20, 2013, through December 4, 2013, and both equipped with a 2.5L engine and a regenerative engine braking system. When driving the affected vehicles in heavy rain or in deep puddles, the alternator belt may slip causing the Power Control module (PCM) to incorrectly assume failure of the charging system.

Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Mazda6 vehicles manufactured October 25, 2012, to October 10, 2014. If the pressures of four of the tires on an affected vehicle gradually drop at the same time, the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) may not warn the driver of the drop in pressure. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring System."
