Mercedes Benz had a previous recall Campaign # 2009100001 which affected vehicles until 2012 and mine is a 2014 model E350. It has the same issue with Engine severely misfiring and jerky on the road as if it is going to STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF FREEWAY while driving and cause a SAFETY RISK for my family and others on the road. Specific component is Oil leaks from transmission wiring harness and ECM connector. The leak is from camshaft hall sensors and transmission drain plug. Mercedes Benz dealer in Pleasanton, CA has confirmed the issue after I paid $218 for diagnosis.
Severe gasoline leak smell inside and outside the vehicle. Smell is so bad as to make it impossible to stand next to the vehicle without gasping for air and watering eyes. Due to a fire hazard situation, car can not be parked inside the garage as there is a gas water heater installed in the vicinity. Fuel leak in the feed system has been a known problem in Mercedes vehicles in the past. A recall was even issued on E350, 2014 model (Recall # 15V792000). However, my vehicle was excluded from the recall on account of mfg. date not matching with the recall notice. But here we are same problem showing up in the vehicle even after so called fuel leak probe was closed. Took it to the dealer for diagnosis and repair was quoted to be $2297. That's an outrageous amount of money to repair a problem which should not have happened as part of regular wear and tear and is most certainly a fire-hazard and safety issue. My wife and kids ride in this vehicle several times a day and currently I can't let them in this car due to the fear of fire. I would kindly request you to reopen the fuel leak matter with Mercedes and look into the matter while I seek a reimbursement of the repair cost from Mercedes Corporate.
Mercedes Benz E350 2014 - Panoramic Sunroof rattling and squeaking noise/sound: This issue has been reported by many online, and it is a well known problem with E350. It starts with a little bit of squeak and metallic rattle noise here and there, and then after a year or so it is almost happening all the time as you drive the car. Dealer states that Sunroof Frame bolts have to be retorqued and loose bolts which rattle around have to be put back on. Estimated cost $712. If not a safety risk causing Pano sunroof to eventually fly off, it should definitely be a recall as many E350 owners have reported the same issue, and it is a manufacturer defect.

TAKATA PASSENGER AIR BAG HAS STILL NOT BEEN REPLACED, NOR HAS A TIME FRAME BEEN ESTABLISHED. DRIVER AIR BAG SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED AND NOW THE STEERING WHEEL NO LONGER GOES UP & DOWN.
BURNING SMELL INSIDE THE CAR AND STATIC/CRACKLINGS NOISE FROM THE SPEAKER SYSTEM. NOISE CONTINUED WITH ENGINE OFF AS WELL AS ENGINE ON. SPEAKERS STARTED POPPING WITH SOUND LIKE GUNFIRE. SMELLED LIKE ELECTRICAL FIRE WAS HAPPENING. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN HUGE AMOUNTS OF SMOKE BEGAN TO FILL THE BACK INSIDE OF CAR AROUND THE BACK DOOR PASSENGER SIDE AS I SAT IN THE CAR. CAR WAS IN PARKED POSITION AT THIS MOMENT N ENGINE WAS RUNNING N RADIO ON. I TURNED OFF CAR AND STREAM N JUMPED OUT OF CAR WAS EXTREMELY FRIGHTENING MOMENT. STILL POPPING SOUND AFTER ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF SO I CALL 911. FIRE DEPT N POLICE CAME OUT N SMELT BURNING SMELL FROM SMOKE N HEARD POPPING FROM BELIEVE SPEAKERS THEREFORE FIRE DEPT DISMANTLE SEVERAL FUSES FROM UNDER HOOD ETC SINCE THEY COULD NOT DISMANTLE THE DOOR PANEL WHERE THE SMOKE WAS SPILLING FROM. MERCEDES HAS REFUSED TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE TAKATA AIRBAG SINCE FEBRUARY OF 2019 MAKING DIFFERENT EXCUSES WHY THEY CAN'T REPLACE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WITH KNOWLEDGE THAT IF ACCIDENT CAN BE LIFE THREATENING.
MY STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT TELESCOPE UP/DOWN. I HAVE HAD THIS REPAIRED 2X'S IN THE PAST 3 YEARS. 5/2017, 6/2018, 8/2019, 12/2020 ADDITIONALLY, THE BLIND SPOT ASSIST NOTIFICATION GOES OFF WHEN THERE'S NOT A CAR AROUND ME. TYPICALLY HAPPENS WHEN I'M DRIVING AND GO DOWN A SLIGHT DECLINE IN THE ROAD.
CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM MERCEDES DEALERSHIP IN 2016 AND HAS ONLY BEEN SEEN BY MERCEDES DEALERSHIPS FOR SERVICE. IN 2019, A OIL SEEPAGE WAS NOTED DURING ANNUAL MAINTENANCE HOWEVER NO REPAIR OR DIAGNOSIS WAS PERFORMED. AT THIS TIME, THE CAR ONLY HAD 36,000 MILES ON IT. IN NOV OF 2020, THE CAR WAS TAKEN IN TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP FOR ANNUAL SERVICE. THE CAR NOW ONLY HAD 40,000 MILES BUT WAS GIVEN A 50K SERVICE. AT THE TIME OF SERVICE, THE TECHNICIAN EXPLAINED THAT OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE ENGINE COVER AND HAD ALSO CONTAMINATED THE DRIVE BELTS. REPAIRS TO ENGINE COVER, BELT AND TENSIONER CAME TO $3000+. DEALERSHIP HAD NO EXPLANATION FOR WHY AFTER SUCH A SHORT TIME WITH LIMITED DRIVING, THE CAR HAD SUCH SIGNIFICANT REPAIRS NEEDED. A TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR HAD ALSO FAILED. FROM MY RESEARCH THIS ISSUE IS KNOWN, HOWEVER SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO A CAR BEGINNING ONLY 5 YEARS AFTER OF MANUFACTURING WITH LESS THAN 37,000 MILES.

I RECEIVED A LETTER OVER 2 YEARS AGO AND HAVE CALLED MB REPEATEDLY ABOUT THE REPAIR. THEY SAY IT HASN'T BEEN RESOLVED YET BUT ONCE THEY DO THEY WILL LET OWNERS KNOW. AS BEST I CAN TELL THE ISSUE IS NOT REPLACING THE FAULTY AIRBAG BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO OUTLAY THE COST. BMW TRIED THIS WITH ANOTHER CAR I OWNED AND AFTER SEVERAL CALLS THEY FINALLY SENT A REPLACEMENT TO THE DEALER AND REPLACED IT,. HOW IS IT MB CAN KEEP GOING ON ALMOST 3 YEARS WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING? IF MY CHILD GETS HURT DUE TO THIS I WOULD BE FORCED TO PURSUE LITIGATION. IT SEEMS LIKE THEY ARE JUST DRAGGING THEIR FEET.
TRUNK HAS OPENED 6 - 8 TIMES ON ITS OWN. IN JUST OVER 5,000 MILES OF OWNERSHIP AND TWO DOCUMENTED ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THE TRUNK OPENS ON ITS OWN IN NEARLY ANY COMBINATION OF; IN MOTION, STOPPED, IN GEAR, OUT OF GEAR, MODERATE SPEED (40-50 MPH), LOW SPEED (A CRAWL) COOL TEMPS., WARM TEMPS., TOP UP, TOP DOWN. I HAVE EVEN TRIED, WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION, TO DELIBERATELY OPEN THE TRUNK WITH THE KEY FOB AND WITH THE DOOR MOUNTED RELEASE. IT DID NOT OPEN WHEN I TRIED TO REPLICATE AN UNINTENTIONAL OPENING. MOST RECENT INCIDENT, 10/24/2020- WHILE IN MY GARAGE, TEMPERATURE COOL ~ 65 DEGREES, KEY IN IGNITION ENGINE AND RUNNING FOR ABOUT 1-2 MINUTES, BOTH CAR DOORS CLOSED, PUTTING ON SEAT BELT, EMERGENCY BRAKE STILL ON, STILL IN PARK, HEARD THE TRUNK POP OPEN. CONFIRMED THE OPEN TRUNK IN THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR. THE EIGHT + MONTHS BETWEEN THIS OCCURRENCE AND THE LAST ATTEMPT TO REPAIR IS MISLEADING AS THE CAR'S BEEN DRIVEN LESS THAN 500 MILES BETWEEN THE LAST REPAIR AND WHEN THE TRUNK OPENED ON ITS OWN THIS TIME.

AFTER DRIVING FOR 1 HOUR, BACK SEAT SHELF SPEAKER MADE A LOUD POPPING AND HUMMING NOISE AND EMITTED A STRONG BURNING SMELL. TRUNK OPENED AND CONFIRMED SMOKE COMING FROM REAR AMPLIFIER, STRONG SMELL OF PLASTIC MELTING AND SPEAKERS WERE TOO HOT TO TOUCH. DISCONNECTED AMPLIFIER FROM BATTERY AND TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER WHO CONFIRMED. DEALER RE-HOOKED AMPLIFIER TO BATTERY, CONFIRMED THAT AMPLIFIER WAS INDEED SMOKING AND SPEAKERS WOULD NEED REPLACING AS WELL. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 57,750 MILES AND IS OUT OF WARRANTEE. LOCAL DEALER MAINTENANCE REPRESENTATIVE AGREED THAT A VEHICLE WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE SHOULD NOT BE CATCHING FIRE BUT DEALER WOULD NOT COVER COST OF REPAIR.
WEATHER WAS HOT AND HAD BEEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY FOR HOURS AT TIME OF INCIDENT. SPEAKERS STARTED POPPING WITH SOUND LIKE GUNFIRE. SMELLED LIKE ELECTRICAL FIRE WAS HAPPENING THEN SOME SMOKE SEEN. STOPPED CAR. STILL HEARD POPPING SEVERAL MINUTES AFTER CAR TURNED OFF AND EXITED CAR. MECHANIC WAS CALLED AND FOUND POPPING IN SPEAKERS AND ESPECIALLY REAR DECK BASS SPEAKERS. HE RECEIVED 2 SMALL 2ND DEGREE BURNS AFTER TOUCHING THEM WITH BACK OF HIS HAND. HE DISCONNECTED BASS SPEAKERS AND PROBLEM WAS MOSTLY SOLVED THOUGH SIMILAR BUT SINGLE POPS STILL PERIODICALLY CONTINUE ON/NEAR OTHER SPEAKERS IN CAR. WILL PROBABLY HAVE SAME FAILURE ISSUE ON REMAINING SPEAKERS IN NEAR FUTURE.

WE FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ONLINE OF THE SAME ISSUE WITH SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL OF MERCEDES. WE BROUGHT IT TO RAY CATENA IN EDISON NJ EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM AND THEY STATED IT WAS NOT COVERED EVEN THOUGH THEY STATED A FAULTY AMPLIFIER AFTER TRYING TO REPLACE THE SPEAKER WHICH MELTED ON THEM AS WELL. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE AS MY SON COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED BE SO HE WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME. THIS WAS NOT A NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR REPAIR.

MY 2014 MERCEDES-BENZ E350S WAGON HAS KNOWN DEFECTIVE WOOD TRIM THAT HAS FADED WITHIN 5 YEARS AND HAS BECAME CLOUDY, AND DETERIORATED OVER TIME DUE TO INADEQUATE UV RAY PROTECTION. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL LAW SUITES FOR MODELS 2009 TO 2016. THE DEALER AND MERCEDES-BENZ USA HEADQUARTERS TOLD ME THAT THAT THE WOOD WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT MY COST. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT AND THE DEALERS HAVE BEEN TOLD TO SELL CARS AND DON'T MENTION THAT THE WOOD WOULD FADE OVER TIME.

THE PASSENGER SEAT HAD BEEN MOVED FORWARD USING THE LEVER OR HANDLE ON THE UPPER SEAT BACK SIDE TO MOVE THE SEAT FORWARD TO ENABLE A WOMAN WHJO HAD RECENTLY HAD BILATERAL KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGERY TO BE SEATED IN THE BACK SEAT. WHEN THE SEAT BACK WAS ERETURNED TO ITS UPRIGHT POSITION IT MOVED BACK FORCEFULLY INTO THIS WOMAN'S KNEES AND DID NOT STOP UNTIL HER HUSBAND REACHED THE SEAT BACK LEVER RLELEASED IT AND MOVED THE SEAT FORWARD. THIS CAUSED HER PAIN SHE SCREAMED AND FLAILED ABOUT WITH HER ARMS DAMAGING A REAR WIND SCREEN IN THE CAR. THE CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION. IT WAS STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY. THERE IS NO SAFETY SENSOR. TWO TIMES IN THE PAST 60 DAYS, THE CAR SERIOUSLY MALFUNCTIONED WITH MULTIPLE DASHBOARD INDICATOR LIGHTS AND THE MAIN TEXT "PRE SAFE FUNCTIONS LIMITED" ACCOMPANIED BY A TOTAL LOSS OF SPEED CONTROL. THE ACCELERATOR BECAME 100% UNRESPONSIVE AND I HAD TO COAST TO AN EMERGENCY LANE. THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT DANGER IN BOTH INSTANCES AS I HAD TO CROSS MULTIPLE LANES OF TRAFFIC WITH NO POWER TO GET TO SAFETY. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND THE EXTERNAL SENSORS WERE NOT OBSTRUCTED BY DIRT OR SNOW- WHICH HAS PREVIOUSLY CAUSED THE PRE-SAFE FUNCTIONS LIMITED MESSAGE. I BELIEVE THAT THE MULTIPLE ERRORS INDICATED ON THE DASHBOARD ARE ALL ERRONEOUS TO THE CORE ISSUE OF A SUDDEN AND TOTAL LOSS OF POWER UPON HEAVY ACCELERATION. THE RESOLUTION WAS TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO PARK, PUSH THE IGNITION BUTTON AS IF TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF, WAIT AND RESTART. THE CAR OPERATES NORMALLY UPON RESTART. I TOOK IT TO MERCEDES DEALER IN PLEASANTON, CA. THE SERVICE AGENT ASKED ME IF I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM THEM. I TOLD THAT I DID BY AN S550 FROM THEM BUT NOT THIS ONE SINCE THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE SPECIFIC FEATURE WHICH I NEEDED HENCE I WENT TO SAN JOSE MERCEDES BENZ WHO HAD THE VEHICLE WHICH HAD ALL THE FEATURES OF MY CHOICE. SHE THEN TOLD ME THAT IT IS PRETTY SAFE TO DRIVE AND THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TIME AND SLOT TO CHECK THE VEHICLE AND I HAVE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET IT CHECKED. I TOLD THEM THAT "AS LONG AS IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE, I AM NOT WORRIED, HOWEVER, TO ME IT IS QUITE UNSAFE". DUE TO THIS ISSUE, I WAS PARKING THE CAR IN A PARKING LOT OF 76 GAS STATION, THE CAR ENGINE STOPPED WHEN I APPLIED THE BREAK IN THE PARKING LOT. I WANTED TO PARK IT RIGHT SO AS I PULL MY FEET FROM THE BREAK, THE CAR JURKED AND HIT THE FRONT GUARD FROM RIGHT SIDE TO THE FRONT PARKING (CONCRETE STOPPER) STOPPER. I HAVE TO SHOW IT TO THE DEALER DURING MY APPOINTMENT ON WEDNESDAY.
BOUGHT VEHICLE IN SEPTEMBER 2013 THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 17K MILES.. I HAVE CHANGED THE TIRES ATLEAST 5 TIMES AND WHEELS ATLEAST 1 TIME. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS BECAUSE I HIT A POT HOLE, BUT NEVER IN MY OTHER CARS FOR YEARS AND 6 TIMES ON THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE.

WITH THIS FEATURE, WHEN SOMEONE KICKS THEIR FOOT UNDER THE REAR BUMPER OF THE CAR, THE TRUNK LID OPENS OR CLOSES AUTOMATICALLY, ASSUMING HE OR SHE HAS THE CAR FOB IN HIS OR HER POSSESSION. SHE TOOK MEDICATION TO RELIEVE THE HEADACHES AND APPLIED ICE PACKS TO REDUCE THE SWELLING OF HER HEAD. NARROWLY MISSED HITTING A TRACTOR TRAILER AS MY CAR SWERVED AS THE TIRE RAPIDLY DEFLATED. I AM ONLY CONCERNED WITH MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHER MERCEDES E350 OWNERS AND OTHER DRIVERS WHO COULD BE INJURED OR KILLED BY A MERCEDES E350 LOSING CONTROL IN A BLOWOUT. COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PRESENTS FALSE POSITIVES (DASH INDICATOR LIGHTS AND BEEPS) WHEN PASSING CARS IN ADJACENT LANE ON LEFT. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST TWICE A MONTH WHEN DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. AT NO TIME HAS IT PROVED HELPFUL AND IS IN FACT DISTRACTING AND DANGEROUS. DEALER TESTED SYSTEM AND FOUND IT TO BE WITH SPECS. IT CAN BE DISABLED BUT WILL BE REACTIVATED EVERY TIME THE CAR IS STARTED. I'VE CONSIDERED ELECTRICAL TAPING THE SENSOR BUT DEALER WARNED AGAINST IT. THIS SYSTEM SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM CARS! *TR

DEALERSHIP REPLACED MULTIPLE SETS OF SEAT BELT HEIGHT ADJUSTER AS WELL AS SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY. ISSUES RETURNS WITHIN A WEEK OF REPAIRS. HIGHLY CONCERNED WITH THE RELIABILITY OF THIS VEHICLE'S SAFETY EQUIPMENT. *TR

IN OCTOBER OF 2013 I LEASED A 2014 MERCEDES E350. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED OVERNIGHT AT MY HOME ON 12/25/13 AND UPON ENTERING THE VEHICLE ON 12/26/13, I NOTICED A LARGE CRACK EXTENDING APPROXIMATELY 15 INCHES FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER AND UP TO THE CENTER PORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD. WHEN I PARKED THE VEHICLE AT MY HOME ON 12/25/13 THIS LARGE 15 INCH CRACK DID NOT EXIST. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE MERCEDES DEALERSHIP ON 12/27/13 AND WAS TOLD THE HUGE CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD WAS CAUSED BY A SMALL IMPACT, ABOUT THE DIAMETER OF A PENCIL POINT JUST BELOW THE WINDSHIELD WIPER. THE EXTREMELY SMALL PENCIL POINT DIAMETER IMPACT CAUSED THE WINDSHIELD TO DEVELOP THE CRACK OVERNIGHT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT MY HOME, SINCE THE LARGE CRACK DIDN'T EXIST WHEN I LAST EXITED MY VEHICLE AT MY HOME ON 12/25/13. I BELIEVE THAT IF SUCH A SMALL PENCIL POINT SIZED IMPACT AS ALLEGED BY THE DEALER, COULD CAUSE SUCH A LARGE CRACK TO DEVELOP OVERNIGHT WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT MY HOME, THE WINDSHIELD ITSELF IS DEFECTIVE AND THE WEAKNESS OF THE E350 WINDSHIELD POSES A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED ON 11/27/13. ON 12/2/13 PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN THERE WAS A LOUD POP AND SUDDEN DROP TO THE CAR. AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND LOOKING TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED WE NOTICED THAT THE WHEEL HAD DETACHED FROM THE CAR. POLICE WERE NOTIFIED RIGHT AWAY BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN THE ROAD. MERCEDES BENZ EMBRACE WAS NOTIFIED DIRECTLY AFTERWARDS AND INFORMED AS TO WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER HAD TO TAKE A BOLT OUT OF EACH REMAINING WHEEL TO RE-ATTACH THE ONE THAT CAME OFF TO LOAD THE VEHICLE ONTO THE FLAT BED. FOUR LUG BOLTS WERE MISSING. WE DID FIND A PIECE OF A BROKEN BOLT LAYING ON THE GROUND NOT FAR FROM THE CAR. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE MERCEDES BENZ IN MEMPHIS. I THINK THIS IS A SERIOUS DEFECT AND SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATED TO SAVE THE LIFE OF OTHER DRIVERS, HAD THIS HAPPENED TO ME ON THE INTERSTATE WERE I WOULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING AT THE SPEED OF 70 MPH ALL OF US SITTING IN THE CAR WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD AND NO ONE WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE CAUSE. MY HUSBAND AND I JUST PURCHASED A 2014 MERCEDES E 350 CONVERTIBLE AND THE FIRST TIME I PLACED A STANDARD SIZE WATER BOTTLE IN THE CUP HOLDER IT FELL UNDER THE PEDALS ON THE FIRST TURN. THE CUP HOLDER ARE NOT SAFE TO USE FOR ANY CUPS OR BOTTLES. *TR
