My driver side sun visor has failed. It will not stay up in the home position nor will it stay against the windshield. It has simply flopped down and is blocking my view through the windshield. The only way I can operate my Murano is to move the visor to the left against the window of the driver's door. From the research I have done I have gleaned that this is an intrinsic design flaw common on all Murano and Rouge vehicles. And replacing it with an OEM sun visor at the dealership will not remedy the problem since the one they install will also fail eventually. Nissan has turned a deaf ear and blind eye to this critical safety hazard that obstructs the driver's forward view. There should be a recall on these visors. But don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen. I, for one, am NOT going to shell out the $400 that the dealership wants for the replacement visor...nor am I going to pay $150 an hour shop labor to have it installed. People be aware that there are NON-OEM replacement visors available on eBay and Amazon in the $50 price range and if you look on YouTube there are videos showing how to simply and easily install the new visor yourself with little more than a flathead screwdriver and a phillips head screw driver. Best of luck to everyone!
CVT transmission failure.
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that there was a delay in response while the vehicle was shifting gears. The check engine warning light was illuminated indicating that the engine was overheating. The contact stated that whenever the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle would fail to respond. The failure would occur after driving the vehicle for approximately an hour. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission failed. The mechanic replaced the battery. There was no repair performed on the transmission. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.
During regular driving, the vehicle's engine emitted a loud bang, followed by a lot of white smoke coming from the engine and substantial fluid leakage from the vehicle to the ground. The dash was clear: there were no warning lamps, messages or any symptoms prior to the event. The dealer (Jim Coleman Nissan, Bethesda) found that the high pressure power steering hose had "blown off" and the power steering switch was also damaged and needed to be replaced. I pulled over and parked, but did not stay in the vehicle because online research on my phone after the fact showed that 2014 Muranos were previously recalled for this problem and that fires sometimes ensued. Nissan HQ stated that the recall for 2014 Muranos for this problem did not include my 2014 Murano's VIN #. It seems an unlikely coincidence and other Muranos of this year should be inspected.
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the front passenger’s seat air bag warning light continuously blinked which indicated that the passenger’s side air bag system was malfunctioning. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the air bag components inside the passenger’s side seat was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,500.
I just bought this car from a dealer in Michigan who gave me a 7-day drivetrain warranty. But as luck would have it, the CVT transmission went out on me in less than 1000 miles and a month later.
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that the convertible hood failed to close securely. The contact stated that the several functions failed to operate with the convertible top unlatched. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who confirmed that the convertible hood failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was referred to a hood specialist. The vehicle had not been repaired due to the owner not being able to purchase the individual parts needed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage 35,000.
IN 2018, I REPLACED THE ORIGINAL TIRES WITH COOPER DISCOVER SRX. THE CAR HAD ABOUT 30000 MILES AT THAT TIME. SINCE THEN, EACH TIRE HAS DEVELOPED LOW PRESSURE, ALERTED THRU TPMS, DUE TO BEAD LEAKS ON 3-4 OCCASIONS. THE TIRE DEALER BLAMES THE ALUMINUM ALLOY WHEELS AS THE FAULT. I'VE HAD NUMEROUS CARS (INCLUDING MURANO'S AND OTHER NISSANS) WITH ALUMINUM ALLOYS, AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. HISTORICALLY, COOPER TIRES FOR LIGHT TRUCKS RECALLED IN 1988 FOR BEAD ISSUES.
MY SUPPLEMENTAL AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON 2/20/21 AND CONTINUED TO FLASH. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 2/27/21 AND THEY SAID THE OCS SENSOR MAT WAS BAD AND IT WOULD COST $4858.13 TO REPLACE THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BOTTOM. HE SAID EVERYTHING IS CONTAINED IN THE SEAT BOTTOM SO THE WHOLE THING HAS TO BE REPLACED. HE SAID THIS SOMETIMES HAPPENS BECAUSE WOMEN PUT THERE PURSES IN THE SEAT. REALLY? SOUNDS LIKE IT'S A FAULTY SYSTEM IF THAT'S THE CASE. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND THE 2015-20?? MODELS HAVE ALL HAD RECALLS BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. I'M SURE MY SYSTEM IS FAULTY AS WELL AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY NISSAN.
I HAVE A 2014 NISSAN MURANO. I AM THE ONLY OWNER OF THIS 2014 MURANO. IT CURRENTLY HAS ABOUT 75000 MILES. YESTERDAY MY SUNROOF GLASS SHATTERED FOR NO REASON. I WAS DRIVING BACK HOME WITH MY DAUGHTER ON THE ROAD, WHEN I HEARD THIS HORRIBLE LOUD CRACK. THE FRONT SUNROOF ESSENTIALLY SHATTERED IN ON ITSELF AND TINY PIECES OF GLASS EVERYWHERE. THE SUNROOF LOOKED LIKE SOMETHING HAD EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE OUT! NISSAN CORPORATE OFFICE REFUSES TO PAY THE REPAIRS! I HAVE READ THAT OTHER PEOPLE WITH NISSAN MURANO'S HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE.
TRANSMISSION FAILING WHILE DRIVING. HESITATED WHILE DRIVING THEN WOULDN'T GO
DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISIOR FLOP DOWN CAN'T SEE WITH TILTING MY HEAD TO THE SIDE, JUST HANGING DOWN AT ALL TIMES
MY CVT TRANSMISSION IS SHAKING, SHUDDERING,VIBRATING.. I BROUGHT TO WALLACE NISSAN WITH 103K ON IT AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL..THERE IS CURRENTLY A BIG RECALL ON NISSAN CVT TRANSMISSIONS AND THEY EXTENDED TO 10YRS 120K. I CONTACTED NIASSAN CASE # 42026948 AND THEY SAY ITS NOT PART OF RECALL..THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON OVER A MONTH
WHILE DRIVING ALONG I 17 SOUTH OF FLAGSTAFF, AZ, WE HEARD A LOUD SOUND, LIKE A GUN SHOT. WE PULLED OVER TO FIND NO TIRE HAD BLOWN, CHECKED THE REST OF THE CAR, DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING. WE CONTINUED TO DRIVE AND STARTED HEARING RATTLING AND SHAKING NEAR THE ROOF. WE PULLED OVER AGAIN ONLY TO FIND OUR SUNROOF WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. LUCKILY, WE HAD THE RETRACTABLE SHADE CLOSED, SO NEITHER OF US WAS HIT WITH GLASS, BUT CARS BEHIND US COULD HAVE BEEN. ABOUT 2/3 OF THE SUNROOF WAS ALREADY GONE. WE FINISHED OUR 90-MILE DRIVE HOME IN 100 DEGREES WITH THE TOP/SHADE OPEN SO AS NOT TO DO ANY DAMAGE TO THE SHADE ITSELF. DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH WITH A SEMI TRUCK NEXT TO US WHEN THE EXPLOSION OCCURRED, COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY. FORTUNATELY, MY HUSBAND KEPT CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AS WE SOMEHOW GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY TO SAFETY.
FRONT SUNROOF SHATTERED SPONTANEOUSLY. A ROCK DID NOT HIT IT. THE 10,000 PIECES ARE SO TINY THAT THEY DIDN'T SHOW UP IN THE PHOTO I TOOK. THEY ARE STILL IN PLACE IN THE ROOF OF MY CAR. I HAVE ORDERED A REPLACEMENT GLASS AND I HOPE THE LOCAL GLASS MAN IS ABLE TO REPLACE IT.
DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR IS WILL NOT STAY IN ANY SET POSITION. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE ON ANY DAY THAT THE SUN OUT, PARTICULARLY DRIVING INTO THE SUN. THIS IS A CRITICAL SAFE DRIVING COMPONENT OF ANY VEHICLE. VERY EXPENSIVE PART TO PURCHASE, FOR WHAT IT IS, BECAUSE OF THE HIGH DEMAND SINCE SO MANY HAVE FAILED. THE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP, AS IT WILL JUST DROP IN FRONT OF YOUR LINE OF VISION, AND IT WILL NOT STAY TOWARDS WINDSHIELD TO BLOCK THE BLINDING SUN. IT LOOKS LIKE THESE COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN PLACED IN VARIOUS AREAS ON HERE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS AT STAND STILL AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, WHEN DRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO REPSOND. AUG 2019 AT 61K MILES CVT TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. FOUGHT WITH NISSAN TO REPAIR OF WHICH THEY REPLACED. NOW, AUG 2020 AT 69K, CAR FEELS LIKE IT GOES OVER 'RUMBLE STRIPS' WHEN COMING OUT OF A TIGHT TURN (I.E. BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY OR PARKING SPOT). NISSAN NORTH CANNOT FIND OR FIX ISSUE. NO IDEA WHAT TO DO BUT FEEL SAFETY CAN BE COMPROMISED DUE TO VEHICLE HISTORY. INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DID STATE I HAVE A TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK. HE IS FURTHER INVESTIGATING ISSUE BUT NO REPAIR HAS BEEN MADE
CVT TRANSMISSION HAS BAD HESITATION AND HEAVY BANG WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE. THEY WANT $5,000 TO REPLACE THE WHOLE UNIT! I HAVE BEEN GETTING AROUND THE ISSUE BY SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL THEN GIVING THE ENGINE A KICK AND SLIDING IT INTO DRIVE NICE AND SMOOTH. AIN'T GOING TO FLY FOR RESALE. JUST NEEDED TO REPORT THIS ISSUE WITH YOU. THANK YOU.
THE SUN VISOR HAS MADE A POPPING NOISE WHEN CLOSING IT FROM THE FIRST DAY I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. YESTERDAY THE SUN VISOR COMPLETELY BROKE AND NOW IT WILL NOT STAY UP IN THE CLOSED POSITION. THIS ISSUE IS CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE IT OBSCURES MY VISION WHILE DRIVING.
THE STEPPER MOTOR KEEPS GOING WHEN YOUR DRIVING
BROKEN SUNVISOR,WILL NOT STAY UP,BLOCKS VISION.BOTH DRIVER SIDE AND PASSANGER SIDES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DUE TO SEVERE BATTERY DISCHARGE, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NOT A MANUAL DOOR HANDLE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED NOR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT A SAFE SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY (65 MPH) WITH NO OTHER CARS IN MY VICINITY MY SUNROOF EXPLODED FOR NO REASON AT ALL. THE WAS A LOUD BOOM AND THEN THE INTERIOR MATERIAL OF THE SUNROOF STARTED FLAPPING. SINCE IT WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME, I'M THANKFUL THAT THE INTERIOR MATERIAL CAUGHT THE MAJORITY OF THE GLASS WITH ONLY THE REMAINING OUTSKIRTS OF GLASS MAKING ITS WAY INTO THE CAR. THIS HAPPENED OUT OF THE BLUE FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS NEAR ME SO IT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN FROM A ROCK OR SOMETHING THAT WAS KICKED UP FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE. IT WAS A CLEAR, SUNNY DAY IN THE UPPER 60'S.
THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE (LEFT SIDE) NO LONGER STAYS IN THE UP POSITION. IT HANGS DOWN AND BLOCKS THE VIEW IF THE REARVIEW MIRROR AND BLOCKS THE VIEW IF STREET SIGNS AND STREET LIGHTS.
I HAVE NOT BEEN CALLED OR INFORMED TO SERVICE THE RECALL PART. NISSAN DEALERSHIP HAS HAD THE PIECE ON ORDER FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS NOW. NOT SURE WHAT ELSE I NEED TO DO. MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBERR1710 NHTSA RECALL NUMBER17V-184 RECALL STATUS:RECALL INCOMPLETE
AN ELECTRICAL FAULT IN THE ALTERNATOR CAUSES THE CAR TO ENTER "FORCED IDLE", IMMEDIATELY LOSING ALL ACCELERATOR POWER. THERE IS NO INDICATOR WARNING.
DRIVERS VISOR BROKE AND POPPING NOISE COMES FROM THE DASH BOARD BY THE WINDSHIELD
WHEN DRIVING ON A LONG TRIP, WITH THE CRUISE-CONTROL SET, THE CAR SUDDENLY LURCHED AND LOST POWER. THE SPEED REDUCED AND IT CAME OUT OF CRUISE. I HAD JUST STARTED UP AN INCLINE, SO I DIDN'T KNOW IF THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. A SHORT TIME AFTER THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO HAVE ISSUES. IT WOULD NOT GO INTO OVERDRIVE AND WOULD OVER REV. WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE IT TO OUR DESTINATION AND WE TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC TO HAVE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CHECKED. THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT THEY COULD NOT REPAIR IT. WE CALLED A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT REPAIR IT EITHER. THEY HAD NOT HAD ANY TRAINING ON HOW TO REPAIR IT AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THEY ALSO SAID THAT THEY HAD OTHER NISSAN MURANOS COME IN WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD IF THIS HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC. WE MADE IT TO THE SECOND PART OF THE TRIP BUT WE HAD TO BABY THE CAR. THE CAR WOULD NOT MAKE IT HOME WITH THE CAR AND WE HAD TO HAVE IT SHIPPED BACK. I CHECKED AND THERE IS NOT A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE.
MY VEHICLE MAKES A SCREECHING NOISE EVERY TIME THE STEERING WHEEL IS ROTATED TO THE LEFT OR ANY MOVEMENT IS MADE LEFTWARD. THE NOISE IS ESPECIALLY PROMINENT AT MILD TO HIGH SPEEDS. IT DOES NOT NOISE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS ROTATED TO THE RIGHT.
MY NISSAN MURANO'S CVT TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY FAILED WHILE DRIVING IN THE PASSING LANE ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 84. THIS PLACED ME AND MY PHYSICALLY DISABLED WIFE IN AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
I WAS DRIVING ON A 2-LANE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT, GOING 50-55 MPH WITH FEW CARS AROUND - NO OVERPASSES AT ALL IN THE AREA. I HEARD A SUDDEN REALLY LOUD NOISE AND IMMEDIATELY HEARD THE SOUND OF GLASS OPEN SOMEWHERE IN THE VEHICLE. I THOUGHT MY VEHICLE HAD BEEN SHOT AT! WHEN I WAS ABLE TO FIND A PLACE TO PULL OVER, I USED MY FLASHLIGHT TO CHECK ALL THE WINDOWS, WHICH WERE FINE...THEN REALIZED THE BROKEN GLASS WAS ON MY SUNROOF! IT WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED, OUTWARDS. I LATER LEARNED THIS IS KNOWN AS "EXPLODING SUNROOF", AND THE MURANO IS THE 3RD MOST REPORTED VEHICLE THIS HAPPENS TO. NISSAN TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY! THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL WITH THE PREPONDERANCE OF EPISODES, AND I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED IN NISSAN. THIS IS MY 6TH (AND NOW LAST) NISSAN. THERE WAS NOTHING, AS FAR AS TEMPERATURE, DRIVING CONDITIONS, OR TRAFFIC TO EXPLAIN WHY AND WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I AM NOW PARKED IN THE GARAGE, WAITING A FEW DAYS FOR A MOBILE SERVICE TO COME REPLACE THE GLASS, AND I'M NOT HAPPY! THE CLAIM ON MY INSURANCE WILL SURELY RAISE MY RATES.
DRIVING DOWN CITY STREET CAR LOSES POWER, , STILL RUNS BUT RUNS SLOW AS IF IT'S NOT GETTING GAS, APPARENTLY NISSAN'S ARE NOTORIUS FOR TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY FAILING...COST TO REPAIR $3800.00!! CAR NOT EVEN PAID OFF, NISSAN KNOWS AND KNEW THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN MURANO. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED INTO REVERSE, THE BACK UP CAMERA TOOK SEVERAL SECONDS TO ACTIVATE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. *TP
SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP ON DRIVER'S SIDE.
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR BROKEN FALLS DOWN WHILE DRIVING BLOCKS VISION THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD IT HAPPENS AT RANDOM I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND WOULD COST OVER $400.00 TO REPLACE MY MURANO HAS 35000 MILES ON IT
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. IT HANGS IN THE DOWN POSITION AND OBSTRUCTS THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER. IT INITIALLY WOULD ONLY FALL DOWN WHEN THE VEHICLE HIT A BUMP IN THE ROADWAY.NOW THE VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP AT ALL AND IS CONSTANTLY BLOCKING THE DRIVER'S VIEW.
WAS DRIVING ON VACATION FROM CONNECTICUT TO SOUTH CAROLINA ON 8/3/18. JUST AS WE ARRIVED THERE, THE CAR BEGAN JERKING AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING AND EVENTUALLY JUST SLOWED DOWN TO A CRAWL. WE MANAGED TO GET IT TO A LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED US THE TRANSMISSION FAILED (WE HAD 62K MILES ON THE CAR - 2K MILES PAST THE WARRANTY). THE DEALER TOLD US THAT IT LIKELY FAILED DUE TO THE HIGH TEMPERATURES THE TRANSMISSION EXPERIENCED FROM SUCH A LONG DRIVE. WE PAID TO HAVE IT REPLACED. THEN ON 7/26/19, THE CAR EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING AT 76,000 MILES. WHILE DRIVING, IT BEGAN TO NOT ACCELERATE CORRECTLY AND EVENTUALLY JUST STARTED TO CRAWL AT A SLOW PACE. WE MANAGED TO GET THE CAR OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD US THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED.. THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION WE PUT IN THE YEAR PRIOR CAME WITH A 1 YEAR/12K MILE WARRANTY. WHILE IT FAILED WITHIN A YEAR, WE WERE 2K MILES OVER THE WARRANTY LIMIT. WE ARE NOW PAYING TO HAVE IT REPLACED AGAIN. TWO FAILURES WITHING A YEAR PERIOD COSTING OVER 8500. I KNOW NISSAN HAS HAD CVT TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH OTHER VEHICLES, I BELIEVE THERE IS ALSO A PROBLEM WITH THE ONES IN THE MURANO...
I HAVE HAD MY 2014 NISSAN MURANO SINCE NEW. IT HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OFF THE ENTIRE TIME, YET I CONTINUE TO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE DOOR LOCKS BREAKING. THE RESULT OF THIS BREAKING IS THE THE DOORS CANNOT BE ELECTRONICALLY UNLOCKED EVEN FROM THE INTERIOR UPON TRYING TO DO SO. THIS IS OF CONCERN AS IF THERE WAS EVER AN ACCIDENT IT WHICH I NEEDED TO BE RAPIDLY PULLED FROM MY VEHICLE, A RESCUER WOULD HAVE TO FORCE THEIR WAY IN DELAYING RESCUE. THE MOST RECENT INSTANCE OF THESE BREAKING (07/19/2019) IS THE 6TH OCCURRENCE OF THIS PART BREAKING. THE REPAIR HAS BEEN COMPLETED AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP EACH TIME (PINNACLE NISSAN, SCOTTSDALE AZ). IT IS VERY CLEAR THAT THERE IS A DEFECT PART AT PLAY AND THAT NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THIS AND CONTINUES TO PUT THESE DEFECTS PARTS IN VEHICLES ENDANGERING PEOPLES LIVES DURING A POTENTIAL RESCUE. I HAD REPORTED THIS DURING THE LAST INSTANCE WITH NO REPLY. I HOPE THIS MATTER IS REVIEWED AND A RESOLUTION MET BEFORE SOMEONE SUFFERS AS A RESULT OF THIS DEFECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE SUN ROOF EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. JIM KERAS NISSAN (2080 COVINGTON PIKE, MEMPHIS, TN 38128, (901) 373-2800) WAS CONTACTED TO SCHEDULE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
POWER STEERING DOES NOT WORK AT LOW SPEEDS (PARALLEL PARKING, LOW SPEED TURNS, 3 POINT TURNS) IN BOTH FORWARD AND REVERSE. POWER STEERING "WHINES" WHILE ACCCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 65,500 MILES ON IT WHEN IT STARTED. WAS TOLD BY THE NISSAN TECHNICIAN THAT DID A DIAGNOSTIC THAT IT IS EITHER THE POWER STEERING PUMP OR THE BRACKET.
THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR WON'T STAY IN THE UP OR DOWN POSITION BUT RESTS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OBSTRUCTING MY VIEW OF THE ROAD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEERY BROTHER NISSAN OF DUBUQUE (LOCATED AT 600 CENTURY DR, DUBUQUE, IA 52002, (563) 582-7700) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 34674283. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,200.
CAR WON'T START. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES IN ONE MONTH AND CONTINUES TO HAVE ISSUES. ORIGINALLY TOLD IT WAS THE IPDM MODULE WHICH WAS REPLACED. ABOUT A WEEK AND HALF LATER THE ENGINE WOULDN'T START AGAIN BUT THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS, RADIO AND HEAT/AIR WOULDN'T SHUT OFF. WAS TOLD THIS TIME THAT IT WAS A FAULTY BATTERY WHICH WAS REPLACED. AFTER PICKING IT UP AND DRIVING LESS THAN 10 MILES AND SITTING FOR A FEW HOURS IT WOULDN'T START AGAIN. EVERY SINGLE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD IS ON AND AGAIN THE ENGINE WON'T START OR CUT OFF THE LIGHTS. HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND 4 DAYS LATER WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS DUE TO A RUSTY BOLT OF SOME SORT THAT WAS LOOSE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. 2 DAYS LATER IT WOULDN'T START AGAIN. A FEW HOURS LATER THE CAR STARTS BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND IT HAS NOW BEEN FOUR DAYS WITH NO UPDATES FROM THE DEALERSHIP. ALSO - DRIVERS SIDE SUNVISOR IS BROKEN AND WON'T STAY UP WHICH IMPAIRS VISION. AFTER ALL OF THESE TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID IT WOULD COST OVER $200 TO FIX. I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT UNTIL I REVIEWED AND NOTICED THAT MANY OTHER HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SUN VISORS SO THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT.
SUN VISORS BREAK AND FALL DOWN. WILL NOT STAY UP AFFECTS VISION NO RECALL TALKED TO NISSAN DEALER THEY SAID THIS WAS A PROBLEM ACROSS THE BOARD BUT 200 FOR VISOR PLUS LABOR!. CAR UNDER WARRANTY BUT DOES NO COVER THIS. NISSAN NEEDS TO DO A RECALL TO FIX PROBLEM. I HAVE SEEN MANY OTHER OWNERS COMPLAINTS WITH NISSAN.
DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR WON'T STAY UP. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE CAR IS MOVING OR STATIONARY. THIS IS DANGEROUS! THE VISOR OBSCURES VISIBILITY, AND YET WHEN I NEED IT, IT WON'T STAY IN THE POSITION I NEED IT TO, IN ORDER TO BLOCK SUN GLARE. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH MURANOS FOR OVER A DECADE, AND NISSAN HAS CONTINUOUSLY REFUSED TO ISSUE A RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VISOR DID NOT WORK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VISOR HANGED DOWN AND IMPAIRED THE DRIVER'S VIEW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NISSAN OF LAKE CHARLES (337-439-9955, LOCATED AT 1700 SIEBARTH DR, LAKE CHARLES, LA 70615) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VISOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO COVER HALF OF THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
TRAVELING AT 70-75 MPH ON HIGHWAY ROAD WHEN SUNROOF EXPLODED. SUNROOF WAS CLOSED BUT THE SHADE COVER WAS OPEN. GLASS POURED ALL INTO THE CAR ON TOP OF DRIVER AND PASSENGER.
DRIVING HOME ON HWY IN MOTION AND TRANSMISSION QUIT WORKING, HAD IT TOWED. IT WORKS FOR 5 MINUTES COLD, STOPS WHEN WARMED UP.
TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AND DROPPING GEARS AT 30,000 MILES. I WANT TO MAKE A COMPLAINT SO THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THESE
CVT TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE DECELERATES AND ACCELERATES WITHOUT WARNING (CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON). MAINLY AT STOP LIGHTS. IT IS SLOW TO START. WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, VEHICLE STALLS, JUMPS, OR SLIPS WITH RPM ACCELERATING ABOVE 4 RPMX1000, WHILE SPEED REMAINS AT 10 MPH FOR 2-3 MINUTES. LOUD HUMMING NOISE WHEN VEHICLE IS TRYING TO ACCELERATE. VEHICLE MAKES NO NOISE IN THE MORNING. SYMPTOMS WORSEN WHEN VEHICLE OR OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS HOT (E.G. ABOVE 85 F). CANNOT DRIVE ABOVE 45 MPH OR ON HIGHWAY. VEHICLE IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD WITH 112K MILES. HAS BEEN SERVICED ON-TIME BY DEALER. VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, ESPECIALLY WHEN CROSSING INTERSECTIONS.
DRIVING MOUNTAIN TERRAIN ON HWY 87 NORTH IN THE DESERT HEAT NEAR PHOENIX THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS SOMETHING THAT THEY SEE FREQUENTLY WHEN DRIVING LONG DISTANCES, UP MOUNTAINS OR IN EXTREME HEAT. ALSO TOLD BY NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS REP THAT SHE WAS WORKING ON SEVERAL SIMILAR CASES, BUT A RESOLVE IS MADE ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS. UPON DOING RESEARCH NISSAN HAS HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS. WE FEEL THAT THE TRANSMISSION NOT WORKING PROPERLY IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN, AS YOU CANNOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY IF NEED BE, DRIVING ON THESE MOUNTAIN TERRAINS IS DANGEROUS ENOUGH WHEN YOU CAN ACCELERATE PROPERLY. NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS HAS YET TO SAY WHETHER THEY CAN PROVIDE A RESOLUTION.
THE DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT REMAIN IN THE STOWED POSITION, AND IMPAIRS VISIBILITY PRESENTING A SAFETY ISSUE.
CVT TRANSMISSION LOSS ACCELERATION AND LOW POWER MODE CITY DRIVING. FAULT LIGHT CAME UP ON DASH. OUR AUTO TECH DETERMINED IT'S THE TRANSMISSION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISORS FELL DOWN AND PREVENTED THE CONTACT FROM VIEWING THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RELIABLE NISSAN (LOCATED AT 9951 COORS BLVD NW, ALBUQUERQUE, NM 87114, (505) 435-9825), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BECAUSE THE WARRANTY DID NOT COVER THE SUN VISORS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ON CITY STREET IN KINGSPORT, TN. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT THE TIME OF STEERING LOSS. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO NAVIGATE VEHICLE OUT OF TRAFFIC TO SIDE OF THE ROAD AFTER POWER STEERING LOSS. PRIOR TO POWER STEERING GOING OUT VEHICLE WAS DRIVING NORMALLY.
SUN VISOR ON BOTH DRIVER N PASSANGER FAILS TO STAY UP. ONCE IN A WHILE THE VISOR JUST COMES DOWN. PUSH IT BACK UP, AND IT MAY GO UP HALFWAY, OR TO TOP WITH A LOUD BANG, THEN SAGS AGAIN. DANGEROUS WHEN YOU ARE IN TRAFFIC AND NOT SAFE WHEN IT HAPPENS! CLEARLY A PROBLEM WITH ALMOST ALL MURANO'S. CALLED NISSAN AND NO HELP BUT TO SELL NEW ONES. WE HAVE JUST 26500 MILES ON OUR MURANO.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR DROOPS AND DOESN'T STAY IN THE STOWED POSITION. INSTEAD, IT FALLS WITHOUT WARNING AND OBSTRUCTS THE DRIVER'S VIEW WHICH IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT PLACES THE DRIVER, PASSENGERS AND OTHER MOTORISTS AT RISK. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE MURANO AND IS NOT ISOLATED TO THE 2014 MODEL YEAR. DO A SEARCH ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE FOR MURANO SUN VISOR AND YOU WILL SEE MORE THAN A DOZEN ISSUES REPORTED. AND THOSE ARE THE ISSUES THAT WERE REPORTED VIA THE NHTSA WEBSITE, IMAGINE HOW MANY ACTUALLY ARE OUT THERE UNREPORTED! THERE IS NO EXCUSE WHY NISSAN OR THE NHTSA HASN'T INVESTIGATED THIS FURTHER AND ISSUED A RECALL. LOOKING THE OTHER WAY REGARDING THIS MATTER IS NO LONGER AN OPTION, THE MANUFACTURER AND NHTSA NEED TO TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY. THE DEALER TYPICALLY WANTS >$400+ TO REPLACE THIS SUN VISOR AND MANY CONSUMERS HAVE HAD IT REPLACED ONLY TO NEED TO REPLACE IT AGAIN! THIS IS SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE AND IS EVIDENCE THAT THE PART IS POORLY ENGINEERED. I CHALLENGE NISSAN TO STEP UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING AND ISSUE A RECALL AND REPLACE THESE DOWNRIGHT DANGEROUS SUN VISORS BEFORE THERE IS A FATAL ACCIDENT AND LITIGATION. THE MURANO IS MARKETED AS AN UPMARKET PRODUCT AND IF THE TRIM INSIDE FALLS SHORT OF THAT IN TERMS OF QUALITY AND IS A FLAWED DESIGN THAT COULD POTENTIALLY RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO OBSTRUCTED VIEW, THIS MUST BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. WE WILL BE TAKING OUR VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED BUT DO NOT WISH TO PAY THE EGREGIOUS PRICE FOR A REPLACEMENT THAT WILL LIKELY FAIL AGAIN DUE TO A DESIGN DEFECT. AGAIN, I CALL ON NHTSA AND NISSAN TO TAKE ACTION AND ADDRESS THIS ISSUE IMMEDIATELY! NHTSA IS MANDATED TO PROTECT MOTORISTS AND HERE IS A CLEAR CASE WHERE THEY CAN STEP IN AND TAKE ACTION AND PREVENT HARM TO CONSUMERS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. TRANSMISSION SLIPPING. RPM GOES UP AND DOWN WHEN ACCELERATING. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. WE TOOK TO MECHANIC AND WERE TOLD SELENOID B ON TRANSMISSION WAS OUT. ALSO BOTH WINDOW VISORS FALL WHEN DRIVING IMPAIRING VISION.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, WITH NOTHING AROUND MY CAR AND NO OVERHEAD PASSES WHEN THERE WAS AN EXPLOSION, WHICH SOUNDED LIKE A GUN SHOT WITHIN THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND FOUND MY SUN ROOF HAD EXPLODED. FORTUNATELY I DID NOT LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR SO NO ONE WAS HURT BUT HAD THE SUN ROOF COVER NOT BEEN CLOSED THE OCCUPANTS WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE REVERSING THE VEHICLE, AN ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE FAILED TO MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TISCHER ACURA (3506 LAUREL FORT MEADE ROAD, LAUREL, MD 20724) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT RUST WAS INSIDE THE FUEL INJECTION LINE ALONG WITH A ROCK. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A CALL BACK FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 186,000.
DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY IN THE UP POSITION. VISOR FALLS RANDOMLY DURING DRIVE AND IMPAIRS VISIBILITY SUDDENLY. THIS SAME ISSUE WAS PRESENT ON THE 2007 MURANO I OWNED.
REAR DEFROSTER DOES NOT WORK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DEFROSTER DID NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY. SHEEHY NISSAN OF GLEN BURNIE (7232 RITCHIE HWY, GLEN BURNIE, MD) WAS CONTACTED AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE HOOD ASSEMBLY WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE DEFROST SYSTEM BEING CONNECTED AND WORKING IN TANDEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 33,800.
FRACTURED STERNUM AS AIR BAG FAILED TO PROTECT OCCUPANT IN A CRASH. VEHICLE WAS MOVING AND HIT A VEHICLE THAT FAILED TO STOP AT STOP SIGN
ON OCT 31,2017 I ATTEMPTED TO STOP MY MURANO ON MERCURY BLVD AND IT WOULD NOT STOP. I HIT THE BRAKES AGAIN AND IT WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN OR STOP, THEN TRIED ATTEMPTED AGAIN AND IT WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN OR STOP. IT RESULTED INTO ME HITTING ANOTHER CAR AND MY TRUCK IS A TOTAL LOST AT THIS POINT. MY INSURANCE COMPANY WILL TOTAL IT OUT. I SEE THERE ARE TWO OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS VERY SAME THING. THIS REALLY NEED TO BE LOOKED INTO.
MY 2014 NISSAN MURANO DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR DOES NOT STAY IN PLACE AND HAS TO BE HELD IN PLACE BY A SMALL BUNGEE CORD NOW SINCE NISSAN STATES IT'S NOT A COVERED REPAIR. THE COST TO BUY A NEW VISOR AND INSTALL IS OVER $370 FROM THE DEALER. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST. A QUICK SEARCH ON THE INTERNET CONFIRMS MANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE.
EXPLOSION OF SUNROOF. AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY (I-10), I SUDDENLY HEARD A LOUD POPPING. FOR A MOMENT I WAS CONCERNED SOMETHING WAS THROWN OR SHOT AT THE VEHICLE. I THEN PULLED OVER AND ASSESSED THE VEHICLE AND SAW NEARLY THE ENTIRE INTERIOR PORTION OF THE SUNROOM WAS SHATTERED AND FALLEN ON THE SUNROOF COVER. THE SMALL PORTIONS OF THE EXTERIOR APPEARED TO BE PUSHED UPWARD (WHICH FURTHER CONFIRMED SOMETHING FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE DID NOT COME INTERIOR).
ON AUGUST 4, 2017, I VISITED AUTONATION NISSAN IN MEMPHIS SO THEY COULD VERIFY THAT MY CAR NEEDED THE RECALLED PART. AFTER VERIFICATION, I WAS TOLD THE PARTS WOULD BE ORDERED & THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN THEY CAME IN TO SCHEDULE THE SERVICE. I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL. ON SEPTEMBER 12, 2017, I CALLED AUTONATION NISSAN AGAIN TO FOLLOW UP & SPOKE WITH DAVE IN SERVICE. DAVE TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NEVER ORDERED & TOLD ME HE WOULD PLACE THE ORDER RIGHT AWAY. AGAIN, I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A FOLLOW UP CALL SAYING THE PARTS HAVE COME IN.

NHTSA RECALL 17V-184 FOR OUR 2014 NISSAN MURANO BEGAN 5/10/2017. TOOK CAR TO DEALER 5/31/2017 FOR CORRECTIVE ACTION AFTER RECEIVING RECALL NOTICE. REPAIR COULD NOT BE MADE BECAUSE PARTS ARE ON RESTRICTION. FOLLOWED UP WITH MULTIPLE DEALERS ON 9/6/2017 - PARTS ARE STILL ON RESTRICTION. IT MAKES NO SENSE TO ISSUE A RECALL IF PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V184000 (STEERING) HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. 6/17/17 COMPLETED 2014 MURANO POWER STEERING HOSE CLAMP RECALL WORK. NHTSA 17V-184. NOTICED RATTLING NOISE FROM ENGINE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT (STATIONARY). 6/29/17 BACK TO DEALER, GOT BACK 7/3/17. DEALER REPRODUCED AND NOTED THE ISSUE ON SERVICE RECORD. DID THE RECALL WORK FOR A 2ND TIME, BUT ISSUE NOT FIXED. STATED THERE IS NO FIX, BLAMES RECALL PART (DEALER SAYS PER NISSAN TECHLINE), REFERRED ME TO NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS. 7/8/17-7/11/17 PROVIDED NISSAN PROOF OF OWNERSHIP. THEY ADVISED TO GO TO ANOTHER DEALER. 7/13/17-7/14/17 ANOTHER DEALER. THEY CLAIMED TO NOT HEAR THE NOISE AND SUGGESTED I BRING BACK A RECORDING. WENT BACK WITH NOISE RECORDING IN MY GARAGE. THEY CONFIRMED NOISE IN WRITING AND ADVISED ME TO GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL DEALER. ALSO REFERRED ME BACK TO NISSAN. 7/16/17, 7/20/17 NISSAN SAYS TRYING TO GET IN TOUCH WITH BOTH DEALERS. 7/24/17 NISSAN INFORMED ME THAT THE FIRST ONE CLAIMS THE NOISE IS NORMAL, THE SECOND ONE CLAIMS THERE IS NO NOISE. I INFORMED NISSAN BOTH DEALERS CONFIRMED NOISE IN WRITING. I ASKED IF THE NOISE IS NORMAL (PER THE FIRST DEALER), WHY DID THEY DO THE RECALL WORK A SECOND TIME? AND HOW CAN THE SECOND DEALER CLAIM THERE IS NO NOISE WHEN I HAVE IT IN WRITING? HE ASKED ME TO SEND HIM THE VIDEO RECORDING AND DOCS FROM BOTH DEALERS. I E-MAILED NISSAN PDF SCANS AS WELL AS THE VIDEO RECORDING. 7/27/17-7/31/17 NISSAN ASKED ME TO GO TO THE FIRST DEALER. DEALER CONFIRMED THE NOISE ON THE RECORDING. BUT NOW THEY CLAIMED NOT HEARING THE NOISE AND THERE IS NOTHING FURTHER THEY CAN DO. THEY AVOIDED ANSWERING WHY THEY DID RECALL WORK TWICE. 8/1/17 NISSAN INFORMED ME THERE IS NOTHING NISSAN CAN DO. NISSAN CONFIRMED THE NOISE ON THE VIDEO AND CONFIRMED THAT BOTH DEALERS ACKNOWLEDGED THE NOISE. 8/12/17 THE NOISE PERSISTS. I AM CONCERNED SAFETY/RECALL ISSUE IS NOT PROPERLY FIXED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V184000 (STEERING); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JERRY SEINER NISSAN LOCATED IN BOUNTIFUL, UT, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD GET BACK TO THE CONTACT WHEN THE REMEDY PART BECAME AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000. WHILE DRIVING THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR FALLS WITHOUT WARNING, OBSTRUCTING VISION. IT WILL NOT STAY ALL THE WAY UP. SOMETIMES IT FALLS ALL THE WAY DOWN, AND SOMETIMES IT STOPS PARTWAY DOWN AND IF I MAKE A QUICK STOP MY HEAD HIT IT. I CANNOT LOWER THE AUTOMATIC SEAT FAR ENOUGH TO GET BELOW IT SUFFICIENTLY. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE IT BLOCKS MY VIEW WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK THIS VEHICLE TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY CAN REPAIR IT BY INSTALLING A COMPLETELY NEW VISOR ASSEMBLY AT A COST OF NEARLY $300, BUT THEY DO NOT WANT TO DO SO BECAUSE THE PROBLEM WILL RECURR AFTER SOME TIME. THEY SAY IT IS A DEFECT THAT NISSAN HAS NOT CORRECTED. I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND WITHIN MINUTES FOUND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENS WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, BUT THE VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP EVEN WHEN PARKED.
BLIND SPOT WARNING AND LANE DEPARTURE WARNING SYSTEMS FAIL AS INDICATED BY FLASHING GREEN LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AND OCCURS DURING LONG TRIPS. THE SYSTEMS MAY FAIL AND BE UNAVAILABLE FOR VARIOUS AMOUNTS OF TIME AND THEN RETURN TO NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE CAN BE CORRECTED BY SHUTTING DOWN THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING. THE FAILURES OCCUR AT VARIOUS TIMES DURING A TRIP. WHEN THE SYSTEMS FAIL, THE BLIND SPOT WARNING LIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE, AND THE LANE DEPARTURE WARNING TONE DOES NOT HAPPEN. THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIND ANY CODES THAT WOULD INDICATE A PROBLEM AND THEREFORE HAS NO IDEA HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM. SINCE THE DRIVER HAS TO MONITOR THESE SYSTEMS MORE CLOSELY THAN NORMAL, THIS COULD LEAD TO A SITUATION WHERE THE SYSTEM IS IN FAILURE WHEN IT IS MOST NEEDED. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE DEALER AT EVERY OIL CHANGE SERVICE SINCE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED.

I HAD TWO APPOINTMENTS AT WRIGHT NISSAN OF WEXFORD (PA)FOR A RECALL. THE FIRST APPOINTMENT THEY CALLED AND RESCHEDULED BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART. THE SECOND APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED AND WHEN I ARRIVED, THEY TOLD ME THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART. I HAVE TAKEN TWO DAYS OFF OF WORK TO GET THIS RECALL SERVICE WORK PERFORMED. I RESCHEDULED WITH ANOTHER DEALERSHIP.
I HAVE HAD MY CAR A LITTLE OVER THREE YEARS AND RECENTLY HAVE HAD ALL FOUR OF THE PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS FAIL. INITIALLY THIS WAS THE DRIVER SIDE, THESE WERE FIXED AND THEN THE PASSENGER SIDE FAILED. DURING THESE PERIODS THE REAR DOORS, WHERE MY YOUNG COUSINS SIT COULD NOT BE OPENED FROM THE EXTERIOR. THIS IS RATHER ALARMING AS IF WE WERE IN ANY SORT OF SEVER ACCIDENT GETTING THEM OUT WOULD BE VERY DIFFICULT. THE SERVICE CENTER I WENT TO TRIED TO PASS THIS OFF AS REGULAR WEAR AND TEAR BUT IT SEEMS QUITE CLEAR THAT SOME DEFECT IS PRESENT AND ONE THAT COULD LEAD TO SOMEONE BEING HARMED IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR.
JUST GOT LETTER IN MAIL FROM NISSAN ON 5-13-17 (RECALL IS EFFECTIVE 03=06-17). WHEN CALLED ON 5-15-17 DON DAVIS NISSAN OF ARLINGTON, TX (LOUIS, MAIN SERVICE ADVISOR), I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAVE TO ORDER PARTS FOR REPAIRS, AND I HAVE TO LEAVE MY CAR AT LEAST FOR A DAY. I HAVE TO GET A RENTAL CAR FROM THEM UNTIL REPAIRS ARE DONE. I GOT CONFUSED WHAT TO DO? IS IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE MY CAR IF REPAIRS ARE DELAYED? [XXX], [XXX], TEL: [XXX](HOME), [XXX](CELL). WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WESTBOUND ON HIGHWAY I-72/US 36 NEAR HANNIBAL, MISSOURI, WE HEARD A LOUD AND SUDDEN EXPLOSION RESULTING IN A CATASTROPHIC LOSS OF THE SUNROOF ON OUR SUV. AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, THE SUNROOF AND SUNSHADE WERE CLOSED. THE HIGHWAY WAS LIGHTLY TRAVELED AND THERE WERE NO VEHICLES (CARS, TRUCKS, BUSES, ETC.) IN THE VICINITY. WE DID NOT PASS UNDER ANY OVERPASSES. THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE AREA THAT WOULD HAVE GENERATED A PROJECTILE THAT WOULD HIT A SUNROOF 5 1/2' ABOVE THE PAVEMENT. SIMPLY STATED, WE WERE AN ISOLATED CAR ON A DESERTED STRETCH OF HIGHWAY. WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE CLEAR AND SUNNY WITH LIGHT CLOUDS. THE TEMPERATURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50 DEGREES AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.
VEHICLE STALLS LATEST INCIDENT WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT ALL TIMES WHILE NOT MOVING VEHICLE HAS STALLED WHILE RUNNING IN GARAGE. DEALER SAYS "NOTHING WRONG"
I NOTICED A SPOT OF WATER ON THE FLOOR AND I LOOKED THAT IT WAS LIKING WATER UNDER THE CAR AND I DON'T KNOW WHERE EXACTLY CAME FROM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 3 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE, IT SUDDENLY EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A METAL RAIL. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR FAILS TO HOLD POSITION AND FALLS DOWN BLOCKING VISIBILITY. THIS HAS OCCURRED WHEN DRIVING AND FOR TALL DRIVERS COMPLETELY BLOCKS THE ROAD OR EVEN WORSE DROPS ON LEFT TURN.
STARTED TO DRIVE MY 2014 NISSAN MURANO WHEN A HEARD A HUGE WHOOSING NOISE AND A HUGE RUSH OF AIR. I THEN SAY PIECES OF MY SUNROOF COMING OFF THE BACK OF MY CAR, ALTHOUGH THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES ON MY SIDE OR IN FRONT OR BACK. OPENED SHADE TO SUNROOF AND FOUND THAT GLASS HAD EXPLODED UPWARD AND SHATTERED. CLOSED SHADE AND IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT CAR TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP STILL HAS VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000. UPDATED 10/26/16*LJ *TR
CAR ROLLS BACK WHEN STOPPED ON A HILL. WE FIND IT VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE MANUFACTURER SAYS, IT IS NORMAL.
THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN A PUBLIC PARKING LOT. AS THE REAR POWER LIFT GATE WAS COMING DOWN TO CLOSE, I QUICKLY REACHED IN TO PUSH A TARP OUT OF THE WAY...THE LIFT GATE CAME DOWN ON TOP OF MY HEAD AND DID NOT AUTO REVERSE. IT CONTINUED DOWNWARD AFTER STRIKING MY HEAD SENDING ME TO THE GROUND. THIS BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA TO MY HEAD RESULTED IN PERMANENT VISION LOSS TO THE MACULA OF MY LEFT EYE CALLED A SCOTOMA (IS/OS DEFECT.)
BOUGHT CAR IN NOVEMBER 2014 AND AIR CONDITION HAS STOPPED BLOWING OUT COLD AIR, NEEDS REPAIR. TEST AIR CONDITIONAL WHILE IN MOTION AND IN PARK.
PURCHASED THE 2014 NISSAN MURANO NEW FROM NALLEY NISSAN DECATUR, GEORGIA. TIRES WEARING TREAD QUICKLY; 50% AT 12800 MILES. TIRES ARE EASILY PUNCTURED. TWICE THUS FAR. RESEARCHED TO FIND THIS IS COMMON FOR THIS TIRE RESULTING IN SOME CASES TWITH BLOW OUTS. SEE WWW.CONSUMERAFFAIRS.COM/TIRES/YOKOHAMA. DURING SERVICING AND TIRE ROTATION, I WAS TOLD THAT THIS TIRE DOESN'T USUALLY COME ON THE MURANO FROM FACTORY AS IT IS CONSIDERED SUB-STANDARD. I WAS TOLD TO INFORM NISSAN. LONG STORY SHORT. BOTH TIRE MANUFACTURER AND NISSAN REFUSED TO ASSIST ME TO REMOVE THESE TIRES. TIRES ARE CONTINUING TO WEAR QUICKLY ON MY FRONT WITH NO ALLIGNMENT PROBLEMS OR ISSUES. A NISSAN SPECIALIST SUGGESTED THAT I CONTACT THE BBB IF I A NOT HAPPY.
I ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A RIGHT TO TURN INTO THE PARKING SPACE AT THE RESTAURANT AND THE TRUCK JERKED FORWARD. I PRESSED THE BRAKE PAD AND QUICKLY NOTICED THAT THE TRUCK DID NOT STOP. I SAID OUT LOUD, ITS NOT STOPPING! THE PASSENGER IN MY TRUCK THEN LEANED OVER AND NOTICED THAT MY FOOT WAS IN FACT ON THE BREAK PAD. I MADE THE STATEMENT AGAIN, ITS NOT STOPPING! THE TRUCK ROLLED OVER THE CONCRETE PARKING BLOCK AND PROCEEDED INTO THE BUILDING. I WAS PUMPING THE BREAK PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR AT THIS POINT. I COULD HEAR THE ENGINE ACCELERATING AS I WAS PUMPING THE BREAK PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR AND THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. I YELLED UNCONTROLLABLY BECAUSE I COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED. I REMEMBERED YELLING OUT LOUDIT WOULDNT STOP.OOOO GOD.IT WOULDNT STOPWHY DIDNT IT STOP!
WE PURCHASED A 2014 MISSAN MURANO SL AWD IN DEC 2104, WITH THE NAVIGATION PACKAGE ($2100) WHICH INCLUDED THE BLIND SPOT WARNING SYSTEM. WHEN LIGHTS ARE IN THE "AUTO" POSITION, A VEHICLE COMES UP FROM BEHIND, EITHER SIDE, THE YELLOW/ORANGE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON, JUST THE WAY IT SHOULD. HOWEVER, WHEN YOU TURN THE HEAD LIGHTS ON TO "MANUAL" POSITION, SUCH AS WHEN IT IS RAINING, THE BLIND SPOT WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON ENOUGH TO CATCH YOUR ATTENTION, IT IS JUST A FLICKER, YOU WOULD HAVE TO TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD TO SEE IT. IT IS LIKE THERE IS NO WARNING AT ALL. WE HAVE CALLED NISSAN AND WERE TOLD THAT, "IT PERFORMS AS DESIGNED" I SAID THEN YOU HAVE A DESIGN FLAW AND IT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED, BECAUSE WE ARE NOT GETTING A WARNING THE SAME WAY WHEN THE LIGHT ARE IN THE "AUTO" POSITION. NISSAN POSITION IS THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY ARE GOING TO DO ABOUT IT.
WE PURCHASED A NEW NISSAN 2014 MURANO. WHEN WE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE, THE REAR VIEW CAMERA WAS DISTORTED AND FUZZY. WE WERE TOLD TO ADJUST THE SETTINGS AFTER WE GOT THE NEW CAR. WE WERE UNABLE TO DO THAT SO WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR (AUTOBARN NISSAN EVANSTON) AND IT WAS ALSO UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND WAS TOLD ALL 2014 NISSAN MURANO'S HAD THE SAME CAMERA AND ALL WORKED THE SAME WAY AND NISSAN DID NOT INTEND TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE BEEN TO TWO DEALERSHIPS WHICH BOTH ACKNOWLEDGED THE INSTALLED CAMERA IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THIS CREATES A HAZARD BECAUSE IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE WHAT IS BEHIND THE CAR WHEN BACKING UP DUE TO THE DISTORTION. THIS IS A KNOWN NISSAN DEFECT BUT IT CANNOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX ITS DEFECT. WE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS REPAIRED SINCE THE DATE WE PURCHASED IT IN DECEMBER WITH ABOUT 100 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. *TR
WHEN PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE WITH THE RIGHT FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE CAR ACCELERATED. THE CAR HAD ENOUGH SPEED TO GO OVER THE CEMENT PARKING BLOCK AND HIT THE VEHICLE PARKED IN FRONT. TRYING TO AVOID THAT VEHICLE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED TO THE LEFT AND OTHER VEHICLES WERE HIT. THE CAR THEN STOPPED. ALL THE TIME THE FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. THE CAR WAS THEN PUT INTO REVERSE AND BACKED UP TO CLEAR THE VEHICLES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE BACK UP CAMERA WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE "LANE DEPARTURE" AND "MOVING OBJECT" INDICATORS FLASHED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,400.
FIRST AND FOREMOST THE VEHICLE HAS A AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND YOU STOP AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL IF THE ROAD HAS A SLIGHT INCLINE ( THE CAR IGNITION ON AND THE SHIFT IN DRIVE), THE VEHICLE WILL PROCEED TO ROLL BACKWARD INTO THE CAR BEHIND YOU. MOREOVER, . IF THE VEHICLE IS ON A SLIGHT DECLINE( THE CAR IGNITION ON AND SHIFT IN REVERSE) THE CAR WILL PROCEED TO ROLL FORWARD INTO CAR IN FRONT. MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THE SITUATION WAS EXPLAINED IN DETAIL TO THE TECH. ,THE SERVICE TECH REPORTED, " THIS PARTICULAR TRANSMISSION, DOES NOT PREVENT THIS KIND OF OCCURRENCE" IN SHORT, THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY INVESTIGATED, AND THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED TO ADDRESS THIS SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
