The clutch throw out bearing and clutch needs to be replaced at 54,000 miles because of failure. This is a $2000 repair! This is a KNOWN issue, why isn’t this a recall?
On June 11, 2021, my wife and I were driving our 2014 Subaru Crosstrek (120,000 miles) from Milwaukee to Manitowish Waters, WI. About 20 miles north of Milwaukee on I-41 Northbound, my wife was driving at 70 mph when suddenly we both noticed a strong lurching from the CVT transmission. This was followed a few seconds later by a complete lockup of all four wheels on our car. Fortunately this did not happen in the left lane or we would've been in a terrible accident. My wife managed to steer the skidding car onto the highway shoulder until it came to a rest. The engine was still running. The transmission was completely dead. We called a towing company to tow the car to Sommers Subaru in Mequon WI. They diagnosed the problem as sudden catastrophic transmission failure and told us that the 2014 Crosstrek had tons of problems with the CVT. We told the service department that we could have been seriously injured or killed had my wife not been driving in the right lane of the interstate. We paid $7,800 for a remanufactured CVT as the power train was out of warranty. I have seen one other report of catastrophic CVT failure on your website involving a 2014 Crosstrek (Danbury CT). I'm sure there are others out in the world who have also suffered this, and God knows how many may have resulted in accidents with injuries or death. Perhaps they did not know to contact NHTSA with their experiences. I pray that you will initiate an investigation into this issue and force Subaru USA to issue a recall on their 2014 Crosstreks to replace the transmissions that are the source of these frightening incidents. Thank you.
Multiple alerts and codes displayed for vehicle control system mostly related to transmission system.
Break lights are on, but do not light up when breaking. Changed break lights with many different bulbs, but same problem occurs. Not lighting up when breaking.
I own a Subaru Crosstrek XV Limited which I purchased new in November 2014. I was in a line of vehicles on a street waiting to enter a business parking lot and drive-thru. There was an incline from the street into the parking lot. The vehicle in front of me reached the top of the incline and turned right into the parking lot. With my foot remaining on the brake, I raised my foot slightly to allow my vehicle to move up the incline, my car suddenly accelerated and crashed into the bumper of the vehicle in front of me. The local police were contacted and a report was made. It was like when the cruise control is engaged and the engine given more power to climb an incline or hill. I don't know what caused this to happen, but am taking it to a local mechanic since the closest Subaru dealer is 75 miles away.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I TURNED ON THE BLOWER FAN AND AC. THE AC WAS NOT COOLING DOWN THE CABIN (OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS 71-74 DEGREES). AFTER 40 MINUTES THE BLOWER FAN SHUT DOWN AND STOPPED WORKING. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THIS IS WHAT THEY FOUND: INSTRUMENT WIRE HARNESS, COMPONENT(S) AND SWITCH HAD MELTED, CAUSING A HAZARDOUS SITUATION. IT REMAINS A HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. SUBARU DENIES ANY RESPONSIBILITY IN THE DEFECTIVE/FAILED/UNSAFE COMPONENTS AND WILL NOT COVER EXPENSE. REASON: VEHICLE GROSSLY OVER WARRANTY PERIOD (BY 10,000 MILES).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 SUBARU HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS DISTRACTED AND HIT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT THE THEM. THE CONTACT STATED THE SEAT BELT DID NOT HOLD THE CONTACT IN PLACE CAUSING THE CONTACT TO HIT THEIR STERNUM INTO THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSING THE CONTACT INJURY TO A BROKEN STERNUM AND A FEW BROKEN RIBS AS WELL AS BRUISED KNEES. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS THE ONLY PERSON INJURED AT THE TIME OF ACCIDENT. THE CONTACT WENT TO THE HOSPITAL A COUPLE DAYS LATER TO BE TREATED FOR THEIR INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE VEHICLE TO THEIR RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 135,961 MILES, JUST 5 MONTHS AFTER PULLING THE CAR OFF A USED LOT. ALL DASH LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED, VEHICLE ENCOUNTERS LOSS OF ACCELERATION AND I PULLED TO THE SHOULDER. I ATTEMPT TO RESTART VEHICLE, AND LIGHTS RETURN TO NORMAL, AND I ATTEMPT TO MAKE MY WAY HOME. LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED ONCE AGAIN, BUT I DO NOT HAVE LOSS OF ACCELERATION THIS TIME. TAKE IT TO BE SERVICED, LH FRONT AXLE FAILED, NEEDS REPLACED, ENGINE BLOCK HAS CONSIDERABLE OIL LEAK, VALVE BODY REPLACEMENT REQUIRED (COVERED UNDER WARRANTY THANK GOODNESS). 4 MONTHS LATER AFTER CAR SEEMS TO BE IN REPAIRED AND WORKING ORDER, THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN, THIS TIME THE RH FRONT AXLE IS REPLACED, ALTHOUGH NO ENGINE LEAK, THE SERVICE TECH IS NO LETTING ME KNOW THAT ON THEIR TEST DRIVE AFTER THEY REPLACED THE AXLE THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND WILL NOW NEED TO BE REPLACED. I CAN NOT AFFORD THE CVT REPLACEMENT AT $8000 FIX. THE CAR HAS NOW BEEN SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY AS I ATTEMPT TO FIND MONEY FOR THE REPAIRS.
WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH ON A 34 DEGREE DAY ON A CLEAR ROAD, WE HEARD A LOUD NOISE FROM THE ROOF. WE PULLED OVER AND SAW THAT THE SUN ROOF HAD SPONTANEOUSLY RUPTURED AND EXPLODED OUTWARD. LUCKILY THE SLIDING DOOR TO THE SUN ROOF WAS CLOSED. WHEN EXAMINING THE SUN ROOF, THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING HITTING THE CAR. IN FACT THE ROOF RACK BAR WAS RIGHT OVER THE NEW "HOLE" IN THE GLASS SUNROOF AND WOULD HAVE PROTETED THE GLASS FROM A FALLING OBJECT. THE SUNROOF WAS PUCKERED "OUT" AND GLASS WAS SCATTERED ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR NOT WITHIN THE SUNROOF COMPARTMENT. IT APPEAR TO HAVE SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED WITHOUT EXTERNAL DAMAGE.
UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHILE PARKING. APPLIED BRAKES BUT CAR KEPT ACCELERATING HITTING CARPORT COLUMN AT CANCER CENTER BRINGING ROOF DOWN ONTO CAR. CAR WAS TOTALED, NO INJURIES.
THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH 2014-2016 WITH AC COMPRESSOR AND CLUTCH. ITS AN EXPENSIVE FIX AND THEY WILL ONLY FIX IF YOU HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THEY UPDATED THE PART BUT NO ONE CAN AFFORD IT. MINE IS STARTING TO GO, IT GETS EXTREMELY LOUD. IT IS STATIONARY AND WHILE DRIVING. HERE IS THE LINK HTTPS://SUBARU.OEMDTC.COM/360/NEW-AC-COMPRESSOR-CLUTCH-ASSEMBLY-2014-2016-SUBARU
I AM HAVING AN ISSUE WITH MY KEY NOT BEING RELEASED FROM THE IGNITION ONCE THE VEHICLE IS PUT INTO PARK AND TURNED OFF. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE CAUSED BY THE SHIFTER PLATE GUIDE NOT BEING INSTALLED CORRECTLY AT THE FACTORY ON MY VEHICLE MODEL AND CAN COST ANYWHERE FROM $350-$450 TO REPAIR AT A DEALER. AS THIS IS A KNOWN FACTORY ISSUE I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL BY SUBARU. IT IS NOT ANYTHING THAT I AS AN OWNER COULD PREVENT THROUGH REGULAR MAINTENANCE. THIS COULD LEAD TO SAFETY ISSUES AS THE SHIFTER PLATE CONTINUES TO WEAR DUE TO INCORRECT INSTALLATION. THE ISSUE BEGAN IN JUNE 2020.
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SHUTS OFF AFTER DRIVING IN THE VEHICLE FOR 45 MINS OR MORE. THE VEHICLE IS STILL IN MOTION WHEN THE AIR BAG SYMBOLS ON THE DASHBOARD SIGNALS IT IS NOW SHUT OFF. THE PASSENGER IS STILL SEATED IN THE SEAT. THE VEHICLE MAY BE ON CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY, IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. OIL LIGHTS COMES ON EVERY 1000 MILES
FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT (SHOWN NEXT TO CLOCK) WILL PERIODICALLY SWITCH FROM ON TO OFF WHILE THE SEAT IS OCCUPIED. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION, FREQUENTLY ON LONGER TRIPS. RESTARTING THE CAR DOES NOT FIX THE ISSUE, NOR DOES READJUSTING THE SEAT. OTHERS HAVE SUGGESTED THAT THIS MAY BE DUE TO MOISTURE SATURATING THE SENSOR, SUCH AS FROM A GYM SESSION OR HOT SUMMER ROADTRIP. THE SENSOR WILL GO BACK TO NORMAL AFTER A DAY OR MORE.
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR WHEN ALL THE LIGHTS ON DASH COME ON. CONSTANT JERKING/BUCKING OF THE CAR WITHOUT INCREASING PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDDLE. METER RPMS INDICATOR NEEDLE IS ERRATIC MOVING BACK AND FORTH WHILE THE ENGINE REVS. THE MPG NEEDLE GOES FROM PLUS TO MINUS ERRATICALLY ALSO. AT THIS TIME THE CAR IS NOT DEPENDABLE. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO GRANITE SUBARU 4 TIMES FOR THE SAME COMPLAINT. THEY SAY THEY HAVE USED THE DIAGNOSTIC METER TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM BUT IT STILL REMAINS, NOW EVEN WORSE. I HAVE DISCUSSED THE PROBLEM WITH A ENGINEER AND 2 AUTO MECHANICS WHO FEEL THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE COMPUTER. I MENTIONED THIS TO GRANITE SUBARU AND WAS TOLD THAT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. MY PLAN AT THIS TIME IS TO BRING MY CAR TO AUTOZONE AND HAVE THEM EVALUATE MY CAR. I AM HOPING TO GET A LIST OF ERROR CODES TO BRING TO SUBARU WITH THE HOPE THAT THE 5TH TIME WILL BE MY LAST. I HAVE RECEIPTS FOR WHAT HAS TRANSPIRED SO FAR BUT DO NOT HAVE A WAY TO UPLOAD THEM AND SEND WITH THIS REPORT. PLEASE SEND ADDRESS AND I WILL MAKE COPIES AND SEND. THANK YOU.
CVT FAILURE. SUDDEN STALLING WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION.
THE VEHICLE'S POWER STEERING FAILED. THE "COMPUTER" WAS REPLACED, AND THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE. THEN, WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AGAIN. NOW THE WHOLE STEERING TRAIN SEEMS BROKEN. THE CAR IS UNDRIVEABLE. IF IT HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR HAS VERY LOW MILEAGE. *TR
REAR WHEEL BEARINGS ARE DAMAGED CAUSING ABNORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE CAR WHILE IT IS IN MOTION. SOUNDS LIKE A HUMMING NOISE.
I BACKED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, INTO THE ROAD. WHEN I DROVE AWAY, NO FASTER THAT 25 MPH, I NOTICED THAT ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ON MY DASH WERE ILLUMINATED. ALARMED, I PROMPTLY RETURNED MY CAR TO THE DRIVEWAY AND SHUT IT OFF. I HAD TRAVELED NO FURTHER THAN 100 YARDS. WONDERING IF MAYBE IT WAS A FLUKE, I TRIED TO TURN THE CAR ON AGAIN, BUT THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE. I CALLED AAA TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. AAA'S DIAGNOSTIC CODES WERE: P0851, P0705, P0700. ONLINE RESEARCH SHOWED THAT THESE RELATE TO THE TRANSMISSION. FURTHER SEARCHES BROUGHT UP A FORBES ARTICLE ABOUT SUBARU'S CHOICE TO EXTEND WARRANTEES ON KNOWN TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS INSTEAD ISSUING A RECALL--SO AS TO SAVE MONEY. WHEN I ASKED SUBARU SERVICE ABOUT THE CODES, THEY CALLED THEM "PHANTOM CODES"--HOWEVER I NOTED THAT THE REPAIR WORK WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTEE--INDICATING IT RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION--HARDLY A "PHANTOM". I AM FORTUNATE TO HAVE BEEN SO CLOSE TO HOME WHEN MY TRANSMISSION FAILED--TO HAVE NOT BEEN ON A REMOTE ROAD TRIP WITH MY KIDS WHERE THERE'S NO CELL SERVICE, OR DRIVING THROUGH A SKETCHY NEIGHBORHOOD ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK, OR TRYING TO GET MY HUSBAND TO THE ER WITH ANAPHYLAXIS FROM A BEE STING (ALL REAL SCENARIOS I'VE BEEN IN, THANKFULLY WITH A FUNCTIONING CAR). WHEN SUBARU CHOOSES TO LET CARS FAIL FOR A KNOWN PROBLEM AND RELY ON EXTENDED WARRANTEES INSTEAD OF RECALLING THEM BEFORE THEY FAIL, THERE ARE A MYRIAD LIFE-THREATENING POTENTIALITIES. ANYTHING LESS THAN A RECALL IS NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF SUBARU.
THE PASSENGER SIDE 'OCCUPANT DETECTION SENSOR MODULE' IS FAULTY. THIS MODULE HAS BEEN RECALLED ON SIMILAR SUBARU VEHICLES RECENTLY. THE MODULE DETECTS AN OCCUPANT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, AND EITHER ACTIVATES OR DEACTIVATES THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM. AT APPROXIMATELY 135K MILES, THE SENSOR BEGAN TO ROUTINELY TURN THE AIRBAG OFF WHEN THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THIS OCCURS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS AT INTERSTATE SPEED TO IDLE SPEED. SUBARU (AT THE DEALERSHIP IN GRAND JUNCTION, CO) HAS PERFORMED A DIAGNOSIS AND PROVIDED ME THIS INFORMATION.
AROUND SEPT. 2019 MY 2014 SUBARU CROSSTREK STARTED MAKING A CLICKING NOISE WHEN I MADE A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN FROM A STOP. MY SUBARU HAD 47,000 MILES ON IT. THE NOISE CONTINUED TO GET WORSE AND IT STARTED HAVING A VIBRATION IN IT. ITS NOW STARTING TO CATCH WHEN YOU MAKE A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN FROM A STOP. I HAD IT CHECKED OUT AND WAS TOLD MY CV AXLES ARE BAD AND THAT'S CAUSING THE PROBLEM.
THE REAR WINDOW BROKE ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A SUPERMARKET PARKING LOT AND SUDDENLY BROKE WITH NO IMPACT. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF IMPACT OR SOMETHING IN THE CAR. POLICE WERE CALLED.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED ROUGH IDLING WITH MY 2014 CROSSTREK LIMITED FOR ABOUT A YEAR. DURING THIS TIME MY CHECK OIL LIGHT HAS COME ON TWICE. I BROUGHT MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP IN FAYETTEVILLE, AR WHERE THEY BEGAN THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST PROCESS. THUS FAR THE DEALERSHIP HAS FLUSHED MY COOLANT AND OIL AND REPLACING O-RINGS AND VALVES, REPLACED MORE O-RINGS AND MY AC COMPRESSOR, AND COMPLETED FOUR OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS EACH TIME I DROVE 1,200 MILES AND CONSUMED 8OZ OIL (10.1OZ IS CONSIDERED FAILING). MY CAR CONTINUES TO ROUGH IDLE TO THE POINT THAT I CANNOT LET IT IDLE INSIDE THE GARAGE WITHOUT SHAKING THE WALLS INSIDE THE HOUSE. THE ROUGH IDLE HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, WHEN I FIRST START THE CAR, AFTER I HAVE DRIVEN FOR A WHILE, AND DURING ROUTINE TRIPS AROUND TOWN, ANYTIME THE CAR IS IDLING. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ADVISED ME THAT ROUGH IDLE AND OIL CONSUMPTION IS NORMAL WITH CROSSTREKS AND NOTHING SHOWS ON THE COMPUTER SCANNER. THEY REFUSE TO DO A MECHANICAL CHECK TO FURTHER DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE.
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 60MPH, WARM DAY (75) A/C WAS ON, STARTING TO ACCELERATE UP A SLIGHT INCLINE, THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN. THE GAS PEDAL/ACCELERATION WAS NOT WORKING. THE CAR WENT LIMP AND ACTED AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. WHILE TRYING TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY, THE ACCELERATION KICKED BACK IN AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. THIS HAPPENED TWICE. THE SECOND TIME I WAS DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AT 40MPH, SAME CONDITIONS OUTSIDE, AND GOING UP A SLIGHT HILL IN SAN FRANCISCO, THE POWER DIES/GOES LIMP, A FEW SECONDS LATER, POWER ON ACCELERATION COMES BACK. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON.
THE HORN HAS STOPPED WORKING ON THE VEHICLE. DOES NOT MATTER WHAT POSITION THE STEERING WHEEL IS IN OR IF I AM DRIVING OR STATIONARY. I AM AT 72,000 MILES. I HAD THE ISSUE CHECKED BY A MECHANIC - FUSES WERE CHANGED AND CHECKED, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. I DID AN INTERNET SEARCH WHICH REVEALED OTHER DRIVERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I SAW A RECALL IN AUSTRALIA WHICH: VIBRATION OVER AN EXTENDED PERIOD COULD RESULT IN A METAL PLATE WITHIN THE STEERING COLUMN WEARING AWAY THE WIRING INSULATION. THE SHORT CIRCUIT COULD DISABLE CONTROL OF THE WIPERS, HEADLIGHTS, HORN, DRIVER'S AIRBAG AND FEATURES ACTUATED THROUGH THE MULTI-FUNCTION STEERING WHEEL, SUCH AS CRUISE CONTROL, AUDIO SYSTEM AND MOBILE PHONE CONNECTIVITY. THE ISSUE COULD ALSO SHORT OUT THE FUSE FOR THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM'S ECU SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE.
SUBARU XV CROSSTREK AXLE FAILURE I BOUGHT MY 2014 SUBARU XV CROSSTREK IN JAN 2014. AT 50K HEARD A CLICKING SOUND IN THE FRONTEND. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED A BROKEN DRIVER SIDE AXLE. IN JULY 2019 (AT APPROXIMATELY 80K ON THE ODOMETER) I HEARD A SIMILAR CLICKING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR WHEN TURNING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR A BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH RECALL. THEY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND THIS TIME IT WAS MY RIGHT AXLE THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND HAVE LEARNED THAT MANY OTHER CROSSTREK OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR AXLE FAILURES AND REPLACEMENTS. SOUNDS LIKE THE AXLES ARE DEFECTIVE AND POSSIBLY A SAFETY ISSUE.
2014 SUBARU XV CROSSTREK. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO NHTSA SAFETY RECALL 19V-149. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE RECALL PERFORMED. *JS
THE HORN ONLY WORKS WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED. IF YOU ARE DRIVING STRAIGHT, THE HORN DOES NOT WORK. A WORKING HORN IS NECESSARY TO PREVENT PEOPLE CRASHING INTO YOU. IF YOU TURN RIGHT ON A STRAIGHT ROAD TO SOUND THE HORN, IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE OFF THE ROAD OR INTO ANOTHER LANE TO SOUND A HORN. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. LOOKING ONLINE, IT LOOKS LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM.
THIS LETTER IS TO DOCUMENT AN INCIDENT THAT OCCURRED ON 6/27/19 AT APPROX. 2 PM EST IN DANBURY, CT ON I84. I WAS PROCEEDING WEST ON I84 IN MY 2014 SUBARU CROSSTREK WHEN THE VEHICLE SUFFERED A CATASTROPHIC INTERNAL FAILURE OF THE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT) ASSEMBLY, RESULTING IN THE LOSS OF WHEEL ROTATION (WHEELS LOCKING UP) WHICH LASTED FOR ALMOST 2 SECONDS. I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND, WHILE ALMOST STRUCK BY A TRACTOR-TRAILER THAT WAS FOLLOWING ME IN THE CENTER LANE, WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO COLONIAL SUBARU IN DANBURY, CT WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A COMPLETE INTERNAL FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION REQUIRING A REPLACEMENT. I THEN DISCOVERED THAT THE FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION ON THIS VEHICLE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE, THE SUBJECT OF A WARRANTY EXTENSION BY SUBARU OF AMERICA (HTTPS://TINYURL.COM/Y9BOZWGD) AND THAT MY VEHICLE WAS ONE OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. MY CONCERN IS THAT GIVEN THE SEVERE CONSEQUENCE WHEN THIS FAILURE OCCURS, THIS SHOULD BE THE SUBJECT OF A FACTORY RECALL, TO PREVENT A CATASTROPHIC LOSS OF WHEEL ROTATION AND SUBSEQUENT LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. THIS IS WHAT OCCURRED IN MY EXPERIENCE. IF I WERE A LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVER IT A HIGH PROBABLE THAT A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. TRAVELING DOWN A MAJOR, CROWDED INTERSTATE WITH A CAR THAT SUFFERED A SEVERE ENGINEERING FAILURE COULD HAVE LED TO ROADWAY FATALITIES. I REQUEST THAT NHTSA OPEN AN INVESTIGATION INTO SUBARU OF AMERICA'S HANDLING OF THIS MATTER AND CONSIDER MANDATING THAT SOA REPLACE TRANSMISSIONS IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. THE MILEAGE ON MY VEHICLE WHEN THE EVENT OCCURRED WAS 114,000 WHICH DEMONSTRATES THAT THE WARRANTY EXTENSION TO 100,000 MILES IS INSUFFICIENT TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE SINCE THE PROBLEM CAN OCCUR BEYOND THE 100,000 THRESHOLD. I BELIEVE THAT THE CONSEQUENCE OF A CVT FAILURE WARRANTS A RECALL NOTICE.
ON SNOW COVERED, ICE COVERED OR VARIABLE SNOW, ICE, WET PAVEMENT SURFACES THE VEHICLE EXHIBITS SIGNIFICANT REAR END SWAY. IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR IS STARTING TO OVERSTEER WITHOUT ANY DRIVER INPUT. THIS IS GENERALLY GOING STRAIGHT WITH STEADY OR NO THROTTLE INPUT ABOVE 30 MPH ON HIGHWAY/FREEWAY ROADS.
THE HOOD OPENED ON MY 2014 SUBARU CROSSTREK WHILE DRIVING CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. CURIOUS ABOUT OTHER REPORTS AND WHO TO CONTACT AT SUBARU?
ON INTERSTATE I-80 (SPEED LIMIT 75 MPH), I WAS DRIVING THE CAR USING CRUISE CONTROL AND THE CAR SUDDENLY POWERED OFF, WITH MANY DASHBOARD LIGHTS ON (THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, VEHICLE DYNAMICS CONTROL LIGHT, AND HILL START ASSIST LIGHT). I BARELY MANAGED TO PULL THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES, BUT IT WOULDN'T START (THOUGH THE STARTER ITSELF WAS WORKING). FINALLY, THE CAR WAS TOWED. I WAS REALLY LUCKY THAT THE CARS BEHIND ME MANAGED TO AVOID ME. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED. IN FEBRUARY 2019, THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED WITH THREE DASHBOARD LIGHTS ON (CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, VEHICLE DYNAMICS CONTROL LIGHT, HILL START ASSIST LIGHT). THIS WAS ENTIRELY THE SAME BEHAVIOR AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. IN THIS CASE I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR, BUT THE HYBRID ASPECT OF THE CAR DIDN'T WORK (THE BATTERY WAS NOT CHARGED, AND I COULD NOT USE CRUISE CONTROL), BUT I WAS ABLE TO USE THE CAR. IN JANUARY 2019, THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T START AND REPLACED BOTH BATTERIES (THE START BATTERY AND HYBRID BATTERY).
BATTERY DOES NOT HOLD A CHARGE. MY BATTERY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR A SECOND TIME SINCE 2014. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS ONLY 2 OR SO YEARS OLD (DEALER REPLACED IT UNDER WARRANTY). I'VE HAD THIS SECOND BATTERY FOR ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME (2 OR SO YEARS). EACH BATTERY JUST SLOWLY LOSES THE ABILITY TO HOLD A CHARGE UNTIL IT DIES. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU DRIVE IT... YOU CAN HEAR THE BATTERY GET WEAKER OVER A PERIOD EACH TIME YOU START IT.
LOSS OF POWER/VEHICLE DIES WHILE IN DRIVING. DASHBOARD LIGHTS COME ON. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, VEHICLE DYNAMICS CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON. HILL START ASSIST LIGHT COMES ON. VEHICLE HAS NO POWER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 SUBARU CROSSTREK. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED AND DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE IN TIME TO AVOID A REAR END COLLISION. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V149000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON MAY 28, 2018 AND HAD NUMEROUS FAILURES, INCLUDING THE CLUTCH FAILING AND THE BUSHING ON THE FRONT CONTROL ARM WAS CRACKED AND RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD CERTIFIED BY SUBARU EL CAJON (900 ARNELE AVE, EL CAJON, CA 92020, (619) 440-0404) WHO STATED THAT ANY FAILURE THAT OCCURRED WOULD BE REPLACED AT NO COST. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
ALL DASH LIGHTS CAME ON AT AROUND 99980 MILEAGE, INCLUDING BLINKING OIL AT TEMPERATURE DASH LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, HILL LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE LINE. IT IS ALSO SLUGGISH UPON ACCELERATION WHEN I FIRST START. AT FIRST START ONLY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON THEN AFTER SLUGGISH ACCELERATION ALL THE LIGHTS ABOVE COME ON. CRUISE LIGHT FLASHES AND CRUISE DOESNT WORK AND SHIFTING PADDLES DONT WORK. ALL LIGHTS CAME ON WHEN I TURNED ON CAR TO MOVE IT.
THE FIRST TIME THE INSTANCE HAPPEN I STARTED THE CAR AND ALL THE INDICATOR LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WERE LIT. THE MECHANIC COULDN'T FIND A REASON WHY THIS WOULD HAPPEN, SO HE JUST RESET IT AND THE LIGHTS WENT OFF. A FEW WEEKS LATER I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY HOME FROM WORK AND ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT A MECHANIC AND HE CAN NOT FIND WHY THIS WOULD BE HAPPENING.
BRAKE LIGHTS MAY NOT ILLUMINATE.
OVERLY SENSITIVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR. AFTER WORKING OUT SIDE IN THE SUMMER, THE SWEAT FROM A PASSENGERS BODY WILL TURN OFF THE AIRBAG, EVEN IF IT WASN'T MUCH SWEAT. DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THERE WAS NO FIX. MOST SUMMER DAYS IN TEXAS I HAVE NO PASSENGER AIRBAGS DUE TO THE SWEAT FROM WALKING TO MY CAR. ALSO AIRBAG WILL TURN ON WITH AS LITTLE AS 2-5 LBS OF PRESSURE. THESE ERRORS HAPPEN IN ALL PHASES OF DRIVING.
TROUBLE CODE- P0700 END P0730
THREE TIMES IN THE LAST 45 DAYS CAR HAS BEEN FOR SERVICE. CAR HAS BEEN SHUTTING DOWN WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE HYBRID BATTERY. CAR IS STILL EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS. SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING, OR DE ACCELERATES. THE CAR HAS A LOSS OF POWER. WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE (GIVE IT GAS), THE OPPOSITE OCCURS, IT LOSES POWER TO THE POINT OF SHUTTING DOWN. MY CAR IS GOING TO KILL ME OR SOMEONE ELSE. WHILE ENTERING I-95 IN WPB FL ON 1/18/19 AT I EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER AND HAD TO COAST TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. AFTER WAITING 5 MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. 10 MILES OR SO LATER THE CAR SHUT DOWN WHILE IN THE MIDDLE LANE DUE TO NO POWER.
REAR WHEEL BEARINGS NEED REPLACED AT 104,000 MILES AT 80,000+- MILES MY WIFE NOTICED LOW PITCHED ROARING AT HIGHWAY SPEED BUT DID NOT INFORM ME OR DEALER (HER VEHICLE AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN DEALER SERVICED) I DROVE THE VEHICLE AFTER 104,000 DEALER LOF SERVICE AND OBSERVED EXTREMELY LOUD ROAR AT ALL SPEEDS, WE RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD NEW WHEEL BEARINGS ARE REQUIRED, AT OUR EXPENSE. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD OR ROUGH HOUSED IT IS ABSURD AT THIS DAY & AGE THAT FACTORY WHEEL BEARINGS LAST LESS THAN 100K
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 SUBARU CROSSTREK. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY REVVED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE BARRIER. THE DEALER (DELLA SUBARU, 5105 U.S. AVE, PLATTSBURGH, NY 12901, (518) 324-8400) DENIED ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
HOOD LATCH DISENGAGED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE TRAVELING 60MPH ON A HIGHWAY. THIS CAUSED SEVERE HOOD AND WINDSHIELD DAMAGE AND COMPLETE LOSS OF VISIBILITY. THIS COULD HAVE EASILY ENDED IN FATALITY.
HORN DOES NOT WORK. MANY TIMES I'VE HAD TO SWERVE OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC ABOUT TO HIT ME BECAUSE MY HORN DOESN'T WORK. A FEW TIMES I HAVE ALMOST RUN INTO OTHERS TRYING TO AVOID A COLLISION THAT WOULD ARGUABLY BE MUCH WORSE THAN LETTING SOMEONE HIT ME. I'VE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND WHAT OTHERS HAVE FOUND IS THAT IT'S THE CLOCK SPRING OR WIRING THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED/REPAIRED. I'M ASSUMING THE HORN STOPPED WORKING WHEN I TURNED MY WHEEL. OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE TOO, BUT I'M NOT SURE IF THEY'VE FILED ANYTHING FORMALLY.
MY VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BY ME AT 24K MILES I HAVE DRIVEN NOW TO 70K MILES AND NEED 2 NEW FRONT AXELS. I HAVE BEEN SITTING AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 3 HOURS AND THEY HAVE GONE THROUGH 3 DIFFERENT REPLACEMENT AXELS ON THE LEFT SIDE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS CAR HAS GIVEN ME ISSUES BUT BEING LESS THAN 100K MILES AND NEEDING 2 NEW AXLES?? THAT IS INSANE. THE CAR CLICKS WHEN I TURN AND MAKES A CLUNKING NOISE
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS OCCASIONALLY FAIL TO WORK AT NIGHT WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS, EVEN THOUGH THE SWITCH IS ON. THE CAR HAS RUNNING LIGHTS THAT FUNCTION AT ALL TIMES. ON THE ONE HAND, THE COMBINATION ALLOWS OTHER DRIVERS TO SEE US. ON THE OTHER HAND, IT MAKES IT BARELY POSSIBLE FOR US TO SEE LANE MARKS AND PEDESTRIANS.
IT IS OCTOBER 2018 AND I HAVE REPLACED MY HEADLIGHTS THREE TIMES SINCE FEBRUARY 2018. THE LIGHTS CONTINUOUSLY BURN OUT. I HAVE READ FORUMS ONLINE OF OTHERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS, AS WELL.
POWER STEERING ISSUES. LIGHT ILLUMINATES ON DASHBOARD AND POWER STEERING PROBLEMS OCCUR. IT'S ONLY 4 YEARS OLD (NEVER DRIVEN OFF ROAD) TAKEN WELL CARE OF, AND THERE ARE SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRONICAL PART OF THE POWER STEERING SAYING THERE IS A PROBLEM AND WHEN DRIVING IT LOCKS UP MAKING TURNS REALLY HARD WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL. THEN OUR CAR SHUT OFF LIKE THE BATTERY WAS DEAD FOR HALF A DAY AND WE TRIED ONE LAST TIME TO START IT BEFORE JUMPING AND IT STARTED UP AND WORKED. SEEMS LIKE SOMETHING IS WIRED WRONG.
WHEEL BEARINGS 3 SO FAR HAVE FAILED WHILE IN MOTION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 SUBARU XV CROSSTREK. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE HEATING SYSTEM BECAME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRICAL WIRES IN THE AIR CONDITIONING/HEATING SYSTEM CONTROL UNIT WERE MELTED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING/HEATING UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. A LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,001.
THE CAR CANNOT MOVE DUE TO IT IS UNABLE TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK. THE BRAKE LIGHT DOESNT COME ON --BELIEVE IT IS THE BRAKE SWITCH SOMETIME DOESN'T WORK DEALER WONT ADMIT PROBLEM
AT 57,000 MILES, THE CAR DEVELOPED A POPPING AND RUBBING NOISE COMING FROM THE POWERTRAIN AND FRONT END. THE DEALER DIAGNOSTIC REVEALED THAT THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE EITHER REPLACED OR REMANUFACTURED. THIS HAS RESULTED IN THE LOSS OF THE CAR FOR OVER 2 WEEKS AND COUNTING. SUBARU IS APPARENTLY AWARE OF THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE WHICH RESULTED IN AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES, HOWEVER THE TOTAL FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION WHILE DRIVING WOULD PUT PEOPLE AT GREAT RISK.
ON NOVEMBER 11TH, 2017 AT 12:30AM A POLICE OFFICER WOKE US UP TO INFORM US THAT OUR HAD SPONTANEOUSLY CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A CITY STREET, TURNED OFF, AND NOT MOVING. THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED AND TURNED OFF FOR FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 HOURS BEFORE IT CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT RULED THAT IT WAS A MECHANICAL FAILURE AND NOT ARSON. THE FIRE ALSO TOTALED THE CAR THAT WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF IT. THE REASON FOR THE FIRE IS CURRENTLY UNKNOWN ALTHOUGH THE INSURANCE COMPANY IS ASSIGNING AN INVESTIGATOR TO FOLLOW UP ON THE FIRE DEPARTMENT'S REPORT. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AS A PRE-OWNED LEASE AND HAD 53,000 MILES ON IT. WE ALSO HAD ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PREFORMED AND OIL CHANGES EVERY 4,500 MILES. THE POLICE REPORT FOR THIS CASE IS THROUGH THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA POLICE DEPARTMENT - INCIDENT # 17-142429.
NORMAL ACCELERRATION VEHICLE MAKES WINDING NOISE. DOES NOT ACCELERATE, ENGINE RPM INCREASES. PROLONG TIME TO ACCELERATE TO NORMAL SPEED AT THE TIME.(I.E. 50MPH).
AUTOMOBILE WAS TAKEN TO HAVE AN OIL CHANGE AND WHEN CAR WAS ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE OUT THERE WAS A SLIPPAGE OF THE DRIVE TRAIN. I STOPPED AND HAD THE CAR CARRIED TO A MECHANIC THAT I TRUSTED. I EXPLAINED TO HIM WHAT I HAD OBSERVED AT THE CHANGING OF THE OIL AND AS A PRECAUTION HE DRAINED BOTH THE OIL AND THE TRANSMISSION AS I TOLD HIM THAT IT WAS POSSIBLE THAT THEY MAY HAVE DRAINED THE TRANSMISSION OIL. HE REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION OIL WITH THE PROPER TRANSMISSION FLUID AS CALLED FOR BY SUBARU. THE CAR STILL WOULD NOT RUN PROPERLY. I THEN HAD THE CAR TRANSPORTED TO THE SUBARU DEALER HERE IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA, CLASSIC CADILLAC. THE SUBARU DEALER SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WAS WRONG, HOWEVER I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. WE THEN CALLED THE SUBARU NATIONAL OFFICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE WARRANTY WAS VOIDED BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT MAINTENANCE HAD BEEN PERFORMED BY AN UNAUTHORIZED COMPANY AND NOT BY SUBARU. THE PERSON SPOKEN TO WAS A MS. S. BROWN WHO IDENTIFIED HERSELF AS THE PERSON AT SUBARU THAT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR WARRANTIES. MS. BROWN INSISTED THAT THE OIL CHANGE AND THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION S TRANSMISSION WAS QUOTED AS $7,800.00. THIS IS SO EVEN THOUGH NO ONE FROM SUBARU COULD TELL US WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION THAT REQUIRED THAT IT BE REPLACED. I WOULD APPEAR THAT WE ARE THE VICTIMS OF THE REFUSAL OF SUBARU NOT TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF CASES OF TRANSMISSIONS PROBLEMS, THIS IS SO EVEN THOUGH WE JUST RECEIVED A LETTER FROM SUBARU EXTENDING THE WARRANTY ON THE POWER TRAIN. THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVEN AT ANY TIME DURING EACH TIME THAT THE CAR WAS LOOKED BY ANY MECHANICS.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE TURNPIKE, ALL MY DASH LIGHTS WENT ON, & THE CAR STARTED BUCKING LIKE AN UNBROKEN HORSE AT 70 MILES AN HOUR WHILE I WAS SURROUNDED BY TRACTOR TRAILERS. I MANAGED TO GET HOME BY SWITCHING THE CAR TO MANUAL SHIFTING. TAKING THE CAR TO THE SUBARU DEALER, I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT: 1. THAT RODENTS HAD EATEN PARTIALLY THROUGH MY SPEED SENSOR WIRE AND IT FINALLY COMPLETELY DISCONNECTED WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. THE SPEED SENSOR WIRE IS WHAT TELLS THE TRANSMISSION TO SHIFT. 2. THAT THEY SEE THIS PROBLEM AT LEAST 1 TO 2 TIMES A DAY!! 3. THAT THE SENSOR WIRE IS COATED WITH PEANUT OIL!!! (ARE YOU KIDDING ME?) 4. THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY 6 YEAR, 600,000 MILE EXTENDED WARRANTY PURCHASED IN ADDITION TO THE VEHICLE. AND YES, THE WIRE WAS REPLACED WITH THE EXACT SAME WIRE WHICH THEY CANNOT GUARANTEE THIS WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN. THE DEALER'S SOLUTION: MOTHBALLS AROUND MY CAR EVERY TIME I PARK ANYWHERE OR URINATE AROUND MY CAR. HUMANS ARE APPARENTLY THE BEST 'PREDATOR' TO DETER RODENTS. MY 16 YEAR OLD SON IS LEARNING TO DRIVE & I HAD BEEN TEACHING HIM TO DRIVE ON MY SUBARU BELIEVING IT TO BE THE SAFER OF MY FAMILY'S VEHICLES. HE WOULD HAVE PANICKED ON THE HIGHWAY IF THAT HAPPENED TO HIM AND SOMEONE WOULD BE HURT, IF NOT DEAD. AS IT WAS, WITH 20 YEARS PLUS EXPERIENCE DRIVING, IT WAS STILL A SHOCK AND HAD THE TRACTOR TRAILER I PASSED RIGHT BEFORE THE CAR WENT CRAZY NOT BEEN PAYING ATTENTION OR BEEN TIRED, THAT TRUCK WOULD HAVE HIT MY CAR AT 70 MILES AN HOUR. UNFORTUNATELY, MY 'DAMAGES' FROM THE ORDEAL ARE ONLY MY $100 INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLE AND SOME TIME OFF WORK, SO I DON'T MAKE A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A SUIT AGAINST SUBARU. THE CONCERN IS IN WEIGHING COST VERSUS BENEFITS, THE CAR MANUFACTURERS WILL WAIT TO CHANGE ANYTHING UNTIL ENOUGH PEOPLE GET HURT OR DIE TO MAKE IT COST EFFECTIVE TO CHANGE THEIR PRACTICES. PLEASE DO SOMETHING!
FIRST NOTICED MY HORN WAS NOT WORKING, THEN MY IPHONE WAS NO LONGER SINQUED TO THE CAR. WHEN I USED THE SWITCHES ON THE STEERING WHEEL WITBTBE RADIO, THEN THE NAVIGSTION SCREEN STARTED BLINKING ON AND OFFF, THEN WWNT NLAVK. BUR NEXT DAY THE NAVIGATION SCREEN CAME BACK ON BUT STILL NO HORN AND NOT ANLE TO SINQUE IPHONE. I MADE APPOINTMENT WITH MCCURLEY SUBARU IN PASVO, WA AND AFTER CHECKING IT OUT THE DESLER TOLD ME THE WIRING CONNECTOR IN THE STEERING COLUMN, BEHIND THE AIR BAG WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD COST MORR THAN $400 TO REPLACE. THE DEALER LET ME DRIVE MY DUBARU BACK TO PENDLETON A D I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE NEW WIRING CONNECTOR INSTALLED MONDAY, 4/10/17. OVER THE WEEKEND I FOUND REPORTS ON CAR ADVICE SITE STATING THE 2012-2014 XV CROSSTREK MODELS LIKE MINE WERE RECALLEDTO FIX THIS WIRING CONNECTOR PROBLEM. APOARENTLY THERE IS A METAL PLATE NEAR THE WIRING CONNECTOR THAT GETS HOT AND MELTD SOME OF THE WIRING. THE SYMPTOMS LISTED ARE EXACTLY LIKE MINE. HOWEVER, SUBARU NEVER NOTIFIED ME OF THE RECALL, NOR DID MCCURLEY SUBARU DEALER WHEN THEY QUOTED ME A $400 PLUS TO FIX OR REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE WIRING CONNECTOR. ON ANOTHER ISSUE, MY SUBARU HAS BEEN BURNING MORE THAN A QUART OF OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. WHEN I HAD MCCURLEY DI COMSUMPTION REQUEST THEY SAID IN 1,000 MILES IT WAS USING A FOURTH OF A QUART, NOT ENOUGH TO REPLACE ENGINE SHORT BLOCK, AFTER THEY DID CONSUMPTION TEST IT IS USING LESS OIL, SO ZI WONDER IF THEY PUT STP OR SIMILAR PRODUCT IN MY OUT SO MY CAR BURNS LESD OOL UNTIL IT PASSES 100,000 MILES. FRUSTRATING TO HAVE SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH MY FIRST SUBARU.
THREE TIMES I HAVE SAFELY STOPPED MY CAR TO TAKE A PHONE CALL. I PUT THE GEAR IN PARK AND LEFT THE KEY IN ACC/ACCESSORY POSITION. EACH TIME THE ACC/ACCESSORY POSITION HAS TOTALLY DRAINED THE BATTERY IN 5-10 MINUTES. SUBARU DEALER SERVICE HAS INFORMED ME THAT ALL MODELS FROM 2014 HAVE A "WEAK" UNDERPERFORMING BATTERY AND THEY REPLACE THE DAMAGED BY DEPLETION BATTERY WITH THE SAME BATTERY. SUBARU HAS NEVER WARNED ANYONE OR ACKNOWLEDGED THIS PROBLEM. I FEEL IT IS DISHONEST AND DANGEROUS TO HAVE THIS IN THE MANUAL "THE SECOND POSITION IS THE ACC/ACCESSORY POSITION, WHICH ALLOWS YOU TO USE YOUR RADIO, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, AND OTHER ACCESSORIES WHILE THE ENGINE IS OFF." WHEN IN FACT YOU CAN NEVER SAFELY USE THE ACC POSITION. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY -- I WAS ON CITY STREETS. WHAT ABOUT SOMEONE ON THE HIGHWAY STOPPING TO USE THEIR PHONE. OR EVEN TO REST? ANOTHER FACT: SUBARU NEVER REVEALED WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO ME. THE THIRD AAA DRIVER TO COME TO JUMP MY CAR TOLD ME WHAT WAS GOING ON. I THEN CONFRONTED SUBARU DEALER SERVICE AND THEY ADMITTED THIS WAS THE TRUTH. SUBARU NEEDS TO INFORM / WARN ALL THE 2014 OWNERS THAT THERE IS NO WORKING ACC POSITION IN ALL THESE CARS.
THE ISSUE: RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE WIPER DOES NOT CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD PROPERLY AND ICES UP SO BADLY THAT IT AFFECTS THE DRIVER SIDE WIPER AND VISIBILITY TO THE POINT THAT I HAVE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND MANUALLY CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD AND WIPERS BY HAND AND WITH A SCRAPPER, HENCE A SAFETY ISSUE. STEPS TAKEN PER SUBARU SERVICE DEPARTMENT. 1.) REPLACE WIPERS, NOT RESOLVED. 2.) REPLACED WIPER ARMS, NOT RESOLVED. 3.) SUBARU SAID IT MAY BE THE WINDSHIELD IS OUT OF SHAPE, FLAT SPOT. I ASKED IF THAT'S WARRANTY SINCE IT CAME ON THE CAR WHEN I PURCHASED IT NEW, NO, I HAD TO PAY FOR IT; NOT RESOLVED. 4.) REPLACED WIPERS 3 MORE TIMES WITH DIFFERENT BRANDS; ISSUE NOT RESOLVED. 5.) CALLED SUBARU CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITH A COPY OF ALL WARRANTY AND SERVICE WORK TO DATE. AFTER A MONTH THEY REFERRED MY BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE WIPERS REPLACED. IT IS OBVIOUSLY NOT THE WIPERS. THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP THE WINDSHIELD FROM FREEZING TO THE POINT OF NOT BEING SAFE TO DRIVE IN MILD SNOW WEATHER IS TO RUN THE DEFROST AT 100% FAN SPEED AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATE CONTINUALLY AND TO TURN ON THE WIPER HEAT ELEMENT. I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE ICE UP SO EASILY. THIS HAPPENS ON AT ANY SPEED. THE WIPER DOES NOT CLEAR OR MAKE CONTACT ENOUGH TO CLEAR WATER AND LEAVES A THIN LAYER THAT INSTANTLY FREEZES THUS PROMOTING THE FREEZING FEEDBACK LOOP. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN HARD FOR SUBARU TO REPLICATE BECAUSE IT HAS TO BE COLD AND SNOWING AND I HAVE TO HAVE IT IN THE DEALER AT THE TIME OF COLD AND SNOWY WEATHER. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MULTIPLE SUBARU EMPLOYEES THAT "IT MAY BE A DESIGN ISSUE WITH THE CAR AND THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO". I FIND THAT DIFFICULT TO ACCEPT SINCE THE CROSSTREK IS MARKETED TO OUTDOORS LIFESTYLES. I HAVE HAD 6 OTHER VEHICLES IN MY LIFETIME, NON HAVE HAD THIS FREEZING ISSUE. I WILL NOT TAKE PASSENGERS IN MY CAR WHEN IT SNOWS BECAUSE I FEEL IT'S UNSAFE. KINDLY CT OWNER
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 SUBARU XV CROSSTREK. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, ALL FOUR WHEELS LOCKED UP AND THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DRAGGED OFF THE ROAD BY A TOW TRUCK AND TOWED TO A TIRE SHOP NEARBY THEN TO THE DEALER. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL OIL LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF. THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TRADED FOR A DIFFERENT ONE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT, AN HOUR AND A HALF BEFORE THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER TO INSPECT THE ATF WARNING INDICATOR THAT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000. UPDATED 03/29/17 LJ *TR
THIS HAPPENED ON 2/26/2014: I WAS DRIVING MY HYBRID CROSSTREK THIS MORNING ON THE INTERSTATE. I HAD BEEN ON THE ROAD ABOUT 20-25 MINUTES. I HEARD A LOUD BANG AND HAD GLASS ALL OVER ME. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD QUICKLY. THANKFULLY MY GRANDSON OR ANOTHER PASSENGER WERE NOT WITH ME AS THEY WOULD HAVE HAD GLASS ALL OVER THEM TOO.
THE DRIVER HEADREST. I AM A 72 YEAR OLD DRIVER WHO IS 5'. I JUST PURCHASED THIS USED CAR ON 9/4/15, HAVE GONE MAYBE 20 MILES SO FAR, AND MY NECK IS KILLING ME. THE HEADREST JUST DOSEN'T HIT THE BACK OF MY HEAD OR TOP OF MY HEAD AT ANY POINT THAT IS COMFORTABLE AND NOW, SO SOON, MY NECK HURTS! I FEEL LESS IN CONTROL OF THIS CAR BECAUSE I AM ALREADY ADAPTING BY LEANING FORWARD SLIGHTLY SO THAT THIS THING IS NOT BUMPING MY NECK/HEAD. AS FAR AS I CAN TELL AT THIS POINT, I CAN'T TILT HEADREST BACK, ONLY UP AND DOWN....AND NO HEIGHT ACCOMMODATES ME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 SUBARU XV CROSSTREK. WHILE BACKING THE VEHICLE INTO THE GARAGE, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED RAPIDLY AND CRASHED INTO THE GARAGE BEAM. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
RODENTS DESTROYED A WIRE ASSOCIATED WITH MY POWER STEERING. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND THEY PROVIDED A RENTAL. THE NEXT NIGHT THE SAME WIRE WAS AGAIN DESTROYED BY RODENTS. AGAIN THE POWER STEERING WAS DISABLED. AT THAT POINT I SENSED SOMETHING WAS AMISS, SO I FILED A REPORT WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT. AFTER SPEAKING TO THE DEALER AND DOING SOME RESEARCH IT BECAME APPARENT THAT 100% OF THE WIRES IN MY VEHICLE ARE INSULATED WITH A SOY BASED MATERIAL. THIS INCLUDES WIRING RELATED TO VITAL SAFETY SYSTEMS LIKE AIRBAGS. INSULATING AUTOMOBILE WIRES WITH SOY, ESPECIALLY THOSE WIRES RELATED TO SAFETY EQUIPMENT, IS AN ENGINEERING DISGRACE. RODENTS HAVE ALWAYS HAD A TENDENCY TO CHEW ON WIRING. THEREFORE, USING THE SAME PRODUCT FOUND IN COMMERCIAL RODENT FOOD TO INSULATE VITAL AUTOMOBILE WIRING IS OUTRAGEOUS. I NOW HAVE A BRAND NEW CAR THAT I CAN'T TRUST TO START IN THE MORNING, FUNCTION CORRECTLY, OR PROTECT ME IN AN ACCIDENT.
AS I WAS DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY THE SUNROOF EXPLODED. I WAS DRIVING AT 65MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD AN EXPLOSION WHEN I STOPPED THE CAR THE SUNROOF WAS BROKEN AS IF SOMEONE HAD PUNCH IT FROM THE INSIDE OUT. GLASSES WHEN EVERYWHERE CAUSING MINOR SCRATCHES IN MYSELF AND PASSANGER. IT WAS 87 F OUTSIDE AND 68F INSIDE THE CAR. NOW DEALER TELLS ME THIS IS COMMON.
I WAS IN A CIRCULAR DRIVEWAY OF A LARGE APARTMENT COMPLEX GETTING READY TO PARK AND WAIT FOR AN INDIVIDUAL. THERE WAS A CAR IN FRONT OF ME SO I WAS PREPARING TO PARK WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR WENT FULL THROTTLE. IT DID NOT RESPOND TO PRESSING ON THE BRAKE. I HAD THE CHOICE OF EITHER HITTING THE PERSON IN FRONT OF ME OR TURNING INTO A 15 INCH VERTICAL ROCK WALL WHICH SERVED AS A RETAINING WALL FOR A RAISED BED AND WAS ABOUT 10 FEET TO MY RIGHT. I CHOSE THE LATTER. THE CAR WAS GOING SO FAST THAT THE FRONT TWO WHEELS CLIMBED THE VERTICAL WALL AND THE TWO FRONT TIRES ENDED IN THE RAISED BED. THE LEFT HEAD LIGHT HIT A CORNER POST AND THE CAR STOPPED. IT WAS THE SCARIEST 5 SECONDS OF MY LIFE. I HAVE A GOOD DRIVING RECORD BUT KNOW THAT I AM NOT BEYOND DRIVER'S ERROR. HOWEVER I AM CONVINCED IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE WHEN THE CAR WAS HARDLY MOVING, THE WEATHER PERFECT, THE ONLY EXPLANATION FOR THE ACCIDENT IS UNINTENDED ACCELERATION BY THE VEHICLE ITSELF. THIS WAS THE 7TH SUBARU OWNED BY MY HUSBAND OR ME. I AM A FAN OF THE BRAND AND KNOW THE CAR WELL. IF I HAD WANTED THE CAR TO CLIMB THAT VEHICLE WALL I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO IT. I AM JUST VERY FORTUNATE THAT I DID NOT HIT ANYONE ELSE OR HURT MYSELF. MY CAR WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED. DAMAGES TOTALED ALMOST $8000 AND MAINLY CONSISTED OF REPAIRING THE HOOK, FENDER, DRIVER'S DOOR, HEADLIGHTS, GRILL, AND RADIATOR. FOLLOWING THE REPAIR MY INSURANCE COMPANY TOWED THE CAR TO MY SUBARU DEALERSHIP WHERE DIAGNOSTICS WERE DONE AND SEVERAL FIELD TESTS CONDUCTED. NO PROBLEM WAS DETECTED. BECAUSE I DID NOT TRUST THE VEHICLE I TRADED IT BACK WITH FULL DISCLOSURE AT A SUBSTANTIAL LOSS TO SUBARU DEALERSHIP AND BROUGHT A SLIGHTLY USED 2015 FORESTER. I ALSO FILED A REPORT WITH SUBARU OF AMERICA.
THE REVERSE CAMERA INTERMITTENTLY DOES NOT WORK WHEN IT SHOULD. THE SUBARU SERVICE CENTER REPLACED THE AUDIO UNIT 6 MONTHS AGO WHEN THIS CONCERN FIRST STARTED TO HAPPEN BUT THE REPAIR DID NOT WORK SINCE IT STILL HAPPENS. THE DEALER & SUBARU CUSTOMER SERVICE SUPPORT WERE NOT ABLE TO COME TO A RESOLUTION THE 2ND TIME AROUND FOR THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE ELECTED TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE DEALER FOR THEM TO TRY AND VERIFY & DIAGNOSE BUT THEY REFUSE TO KEEP IT LONGER THAN ONE WEEK. IT IS GETTING FRUSTRATING AS WHEN THE CAMERA IS MOST NEEDED, IT DOES NOT WORK. THANKFULLY THERE HAVE BEEN NO INJURIES OR COLLISIONS DUE TO THIS PROBLEM & I AM 100 PERCENT AWARE THAT THIS SYSTEM IS JUST AN "AID" & NOT TO BE RELIED ON 100 PERCENT WHEN BACKING THE VEHICLE UP.
I BACKED OUT OF THE GARAGE AND WAS IN REVERSE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL ON THE DRIVEWAY WAITING FOR THE GARAGE DOOR TO CLOSE. FOR SOME REASON I CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE AND STARTED GOING FORWARD. I HIT THE BRAKES AND THE CAR EVENTUALLY STOPPED, BUT NOT BEFORE HITTING THE THE GARAGE DOOR. I THEN PUT THE SELECTOR ROD IN REVERSE. THE CAR PROCEEDED TO ROLL DOWN THE DRIVEWAY DECLINE INTO THE STREET. I TRIED TO BRAKE, BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT ENGAGE. THE CAR STOPPED ONLY BECAUSE I PUT THE SELECTOR INTO DRIVE. I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED BY ITSELF AND THE GEAR SELECTOR IN DRIVE. I COULD NOT CHANGE THE GEAR UNTIL I REACHED DOWN AND PULLED THE BRAKE PEDAL UP FROM ITS DEPRESSED POSITION. *TR
WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE WITH CRUISE CONTROL SET TO 70MPH. HEARD A LOUD POP (SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT). MOONROOF GLASS HAD EXPLODED OUT FROM THE CENTER OF THE GLASS. EDGE OF GLASS WAS PUSHED OUT LIKE IT HAD BLOWN OUT FROM THE INSIDE. SUNSHADE WAS OPEN. NO TRAFFIC AND NOTHING HIT THE ROOF BEFORE THE GLASS EXPLODED. TEMP INSIDE THE CAR WAS AROUND 65 DEGREES. TEMP OUTSIDE WAS IN THE MID TO HIGH 40'S. *TR
I HAVE A 2014 SUBARU CROSSTREK (14K MILES) AND MY STEERING WHEEL WILL FEEL LIKE IT LOST CONTACT (DEAD SPOT) WITH THE STEERING RACK FOR A SECOND OR TWO. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND I CAN'T REPRODUCE FOR THE DEALER SERVICE TECHS. AT TIMES GET FUNKY VIBRATIONS LIKE A STRUT BOUNCE FROM THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL OR EXCESSIVE SIDE TO SIDE YAW MOTION AND THEN STEERING WHEEL ROCKS (LEFT TO RIGHT), THE ELECTRIC STEERING FEELS LIKE IT WANTS TO ADJUST AND THEN GOES NUMB (NO ROAD FEELING) AND RECOVERS, NEVER ANY ERROR DASH LIGHT OR CODE. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE SUBARU DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR TWICE WITH NO TROUBLE FOUND. A SECOND DEALER TOOK THE CAR FOR A TEST DRIVE AND DID NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, I WAS TOLD THAT WITHOUT A TROUBLE LIGHT OR CODE THEY MAY NEVER FIND THE PROBLEM. A THIRD SUBARU DEALER GOT ALL ANTSY WHEN I TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM (LIKE IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE) AND MADE ME OUT OF THE SERVICE AREA BY YELLING, THEY DID NOT HAVE TIME OR TECHS TO TROUBLE SHOOT THIS PROBLEM. I CONTACTED SUBARU OF AMERICA AND GOT A COMPLAINT TICKET ON FILE (1-8235180260). I FIND IT ODD THAT A MODERN CAR WITH ELECTRONIC (ELECTRIC) STEERING SYSTEM HAS NO STRESS TEST DIAGNOSTICS OR A FAIL SAFE TO PREVENT THE DRIVER FROM LOOSING CONTROL. BESIDES THIS INTERMITTENT STEERING ISSUE AND THE BAD SUBARU DEALER SERVICE NETWORK, THE CROSSTREK IS ALSO SCARY TO DRIVE IN HIGH WINDS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 SUBARU XV CROSSTREK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A MEDIAN AND TWO PARKED VEHICLES. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
2014 SUBARU CROSSTREK VEHICLE CONSUMED OVER FIVE QUARTS OF OIL BEFORE REACHING 9000 MILES*CW THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE DEALER DID NOT INSTALL THE KAYAK RACK SECURELY ON TOP OF THE ROOF. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 SUBARU XV CROSSTREK. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND CAUSED THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL AND CRASH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED LACERATIONS AND BRUISES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,200.
WHILE WASHING MY CAR, MY FINGER SLIPPED INTO A HOLE SURROUNDED BY METAL AND SLICED MY FINGER. THE HOLES SHOULD EITHER BE CAPPED OR FILED DOWN SINCE THIS IS AN AREA RIGHT NEAR THE REAR HATCH RELEASE AND LICENSE PLATE BULB. *TR
PAINT IS PEELING FROM NEW CAR BUMPER. SUBARU REFUSES TO FIX UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
STRUT MOUNT BOLT SHEARED OFF WHEN USING A TORQUE WRENCH AT THE CORRECT SETTING. WEAK BOLT COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. *TR
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, PRIOR TO INCIDENT DATE/MILEAGE, THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN PULLING TO THE RIGHT SINCE WE TOOK OWNERSHIP ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. MOST RECENTLY MY WIFE WAS DRIVING, HAD LOOKED OVER FOR SOMETHING THAT FELL ON THE SEAT, AND REALIZED SHE WAS HEADING FOR THE CURB WITHOUT KNOWING IT AS IT CONTINUES TO PULL RIGHT. THIS CAR HAS A TORQUE STEER CONDITION, AND ROUTINELY REQUIRES MORE PRESSURE ON THE WHEEL, TO THE LEFT, TO KEEP THE CAR GOING STRAIGHT. ONCE ACCELERATING IT PULLS RIGHT, THEN AS YOU RELEASE THE ACCELERATOR, IT GOES BACK TOWARDS LEFT. IT WILL ALSO DRIFT TO THE RIGHT, WITHOUT ACCELERATION, THOUGH NOT ALWAYS. HAS BEEN IN SHOP 3 TIMES FOR SAME. FIRST TIME WAS TOLD AIR PRESSURE WAS DIFFERENT FROM DELIVERY OF VEHICLE AND ALIGNMENT WAS CORRECT. 2ND TIME THEY SAID IT WASN'T HAPPENING, AND THAT IT WAS ALL OKAY. THIRD TIME THEY SAID THE REAR ALIGNMENT WAS OFF. THE STEERING WHEEL APPEARS TO BE SLIGHTLY OFF AS WELL. IN ADDITION, THE CAR MAKES A SMALL THUMPING SOUND, COMING FROM RIGHT FRONT WHEEL/TIRE AREA, WHEN GOING OVER SMALL BUMPS. LASTLY, THE BODY MOLDING ON THE LEFT SIDE, UNDER THE DRIVERS DOOR, KEEPS PULLING AWAY FROM THE CAR. WAS JUST SERVICED FOR SAME, WITH NEW CLIPS AND MOLDING, AND IT IS WORSE THAN WHEN IT WENT IT. TO ME, IT SEEMS LIKE THIS CAR WAS EITHER IN AN ACCIDENT (BOUGHT IT NEW) AND FIXED BEFORE DELIVERY (OR) THAT IT IS BENT AND THUS NOTHING IS LINING UP RIGHT. *TR
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED INSIDE MY GARAGE, POWER WAS OFF AND VEHICLE WAS UNMANNED. THE VEHICLE SOME HOW ROLLED OUT OF MY GARAGE DOWN MY SLOPED DRIVEWAY AND HIT A PARKED TRUCK ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE STREET. DAMAGES OF ABOUT $12,000 TO BOTH VEHICLES, THIS SUBARU WAS ONLY 30 DAYS OLD! STILL IS BAFFLING HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN WITHOUT WARNING. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS HURT AND NO KIDS WERE PLAYING IN MY DRIVEWAY. *JS
