I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND COULD FEEL THE STEERING WHEEL TIGHTEN LIKE IT WAS LOCKING UP. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED TO GREEN I MADE A LEFT HAND TURN AND HAD NO POWER IN THE STEERING WHEEL. I MANUALLY TURNED WHEEL AS HARD AS I COULD AND DRIFTED ACROSS ROAD WITH VERY LITTLE CONTROL BECAUSE IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN STEERING WHEEL. I PULLED/ DRIFTED THE CAR OFF THE ROAD IN A DIAGONAL DIRECTION BECAUSE IT WAS TOO DIFFICULT TO TRULY MAKE A DIRECT TURN OR PULLOVER. THE POWER STEERING INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. I TURNED VEHICLE OFF AFTER I DRIFTED TO A SAFE SPOT AND WHEN TURNED IT BACK ON THE STEERING WORKED. I DROVE TO A REPAIR SHOP BUT NO DIAGNOSIS HAS BEEN MADE YET. THIS HAPPENED ON A MAJOR ROAD BUT NOT HIGHWAY. I SUSPECT THIS MAY BE RELATED TO THE TOYOTA SAFETY RECALL F0J (F1J) ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) ELECTRIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU) CERTAIN TOYOTA VEHICLES 2014-2015. MY VENZA WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST BUT MAYBE IT SHOULD BE BECAUSE THE STEERING PROBLEM WAS EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IN RECALL.
CONSTANT DEFLATION OF TIRE WITH NO VISIBLE PROBLEM.
I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER BECAUSE IT 2WE MAKING A NOISE IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THEY CHANGED THE SHOCKS, BUT THE NOISE DIDN'T STOP. I TOOK IT TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC THAT TOLD ME THAT THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE REAR BUSHINGS, WHICH ARE PLASTIC (MOST OF THE TIME THE BUSHINGS ARE MADE OF METAL) INSIDE OF THE HUB. I WAS CHARGED TO FIX THE WRONG THING BY THE DEALERSHIP, AND THE PROBLEM WAS STILL NOT FIXED. WHY DID THEY USE A PLASTIC PART, JUST TO SAVE MONEY? THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME I BUY A TOYOTA. THE VEHICLE STILL MAKES NOISE, AND IS HEATING UP MY TIRES AT AN ALARMINGLY FAST RATE.
IN NOVEMBER 2018 A WARNING LIGHT ON THE DISPLAY INDICATED A MALFUNCTION OF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND HAD IT DIAGNOSED. THEIR ANALYSIS INDICATED THAT THERE WAS CORROSION ON THE LEFT FRONT SENSOR AND THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF THE LEFT FRONT SENSOR AND THE WIRING HARNESS. THIS WIRING HARNESS ENCOMPASSES ALMOST THE ENTIRE ROOF. THEY ESTIMATED THE TIME TO REPLACE THE HARNESS AND SENSOR WOULD BE ABOUT 10 HOURS AND THE COST WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $4000. THIS CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT NOR HAS IT BEEN STRUCK BY LIGHTNING. IT HAS ALSO BEEN KEPT IN A HEATED GARAGE THE ENTIRE 4 YEARS. TO MY KNOWLEDGE A WIRING HARNESS IS NOT A WEARABLE ITEM. *TR
THE POWER DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS IN TOYOTA VEHICLES FROM THIS YEAR MODEL ARE DEFECTIVE. THEY ONLY LAST ABOUT A YEAR OR TWO BEFORE THEY STOP WORKING. REPLACING THE ACTUATOR IS A VERY TIME INTENSIVE PROCEDURE AND THE COMPONENT IS NOT CHEAP EITHER. OUR VEHICLE HAS HAD THREE OF THE FOUR DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS FAIL IN LESS THAN THREE YEARS. WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW AND THE ACTUATORS FAILED UNDER NORMAL USE. I HAVE ANOTHER OLDER TOYOTA WITH WELL OVER 200,000 MILES AND THE ACTUATORS WORK JUST FINE. THIS TYPE OF FAILURE ON A SIMPLE EVERYDAY COMPONENT IS UNACCEPTABLE. A QUICK SEARCH AROUND THE INTERNET WILL REVEAL THAT THE ACTUATORS FAILING IS A COMMON THEME AMONG NEWER TOYOTA VEHICLES. THIS DEFECTIVE PART EXISTS IN ALMOST EVERY TOYOTA CAR AND SOME SUV AND TRUCK MODELS. TOYOTA IS UNABLE TO PRODUCE A RELIABLE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR.
THE DUST IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE AIR CONDITIONING'S EVAPORATOR FLAKING OFF SMALL PIECES. CARSPEC'S HEARD MULTIPLE EXPLANATIONS AS TO WHY THE EVAPORATOR DOES THIS: THE PROTECTIVE COATING ON THE EVAPORATOR FLAKES OFF, THE EVAPORATOR'S ALUMINUM CORRODES, ETC. THE BLOWER TAKES THESE BITS OF DEBRIS AND PUSHES THEM THROUGH THE VENTS INTO THE CABIN. THE SOLUTION TO FIXING THE PROBLEM IS, UNFORTUNATELY, TO REMOVE THE ENTIRE DASH, CRASH BAR, MOST OF THE FRONT HARNESS, AIR/HEATER BOX AND REPLACE THE EVAPORATOR CORE WITH AN UPDATED PART ' AN EXPENSIVE PROPOSITION ' WHILE CLEANING ALL OF THE VENTS THAT MAY HOUSE RESIDUAL DUST. ALUMINUM DUST CANNOT BE GOOD FOR LUNGS OF OCCUPANTS OF VEHICLE AND SHOULD BE FIXED AT NO COST TO VEHICLE OWNER.
MY BRAKES FAILED AT A LOW SPEED AT A MCDONALDS AND I HIT A CAR IN FRONT OF ME. MY SON AND GRANDAUGHER WERE IN THE CAR WITH ME. I COULDN'T GET THE CAR TO STOP NO MATTER HOW MUCH I PUSHED ON THE BRAKES. MY WIFE CALLED TOYATO BUT WAS TOLD TO DRIVE THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP. WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR IT WOULD SEEM TO BE DANGEROUS TO DO SO.THIS IS ARE ONLY CAR. DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ANY URGENCY ON TOYATOS PART. ANY HELP TO RESOLVE THIS SITUATION BEFORE SOME HAS TO DIE.
DRIVING OUT OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD AT 5 MILES AND MALFUNCTION OF "LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING"' LIGHT NEVER COME ON UNTIL MY TIRE WAS COMPLETELY FLAT AND VEHICLE BECOME NON-OPERATIONAL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA VENZA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL (VSC) SYSTEM FAILED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE APPROXIMATELY SIX INCHES TO THE LEFT. THE FEELING WAS IDENTICAL TO A TIRE BLOW OUT. THE VSC WARNING INDICATOR FLASHED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
2017 TOYOTA VENZA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SUDDEN ACCELERATION ISSUES. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAD IT'S SECOND EPISODE OF SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THIS SPECIFICALLY OCCURED, WHEN APPROACHING A STOP SIGN AND REMOVING FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THEN PLACING IT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. *JS
I'M FROM VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA. I WAS DRIVING BACK, FROM VANCOUVER AIRPORT OUTLET STORES, ON HIGHWAY 99, WITH AROUND 90 KM/H AND WHEN I APPROACHED THE INTERSECTION WITH OVER-PASSING CAMBIE ROAD, I HEARD LIKE AN GLASS EXPLOSION ON THE CAR ROOF, AND BY REFLEX I DUCK AND COVER BUT I DID NOT STOP THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INCOMING TRAFFIC. I MANAGED TO SLOW DOWN AND MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY THEN STOP THE CAR COMPLETELY. WHEN GOT OUT AN LOOK I SAW MY MOBILE SUNROOF BROKEN IN LARGE PIECES, LIKE SOMEONE CUT IT I SQUARE LIKE FORMS. I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT MY SUNROOF OVERHEAD PROTECTION WAS CLOSED, AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, OTHERWISE ALL THOSE BROKEN SUNROOF PIECES HAD FALLEN IN MY HEAD ... AND AT 90 KM/H ... MY REACTION WOULD HAD BEEN DIFFERENT, PROBABLY LEADING TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. SINCE IT WAS LONG WEEKEND, THE COMPANY WHICH SOLD ME THE CAR, AND REPRESENT TOYOTA (DESTINATION TOYOTA BURNABY) WAS CLOSED, SO I CALLED THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND FILE A CLAIM ([XXX]). I FINALLY MANAGED TO GET IT INTO THE REPAIR SHOP (SAME COMPANY WHICH SOLD ME THE CAR) AND AFTER THEY CHANGE THE SUNROOF, THEY TOLD ME THE ELECTRICAL PART WHICH CLOSES THE MECHANISM IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, AND THEY NEED TO CHANGE THAT TOO. IT'S ALMOST 1 MONTH AND A HALF AND THEY STILL WORKING ON THE CAR, A 2 YEARS OLD CAR!!! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
ON FRIDAY, JULY 1ST ON VACATION TO HERSHY PENNSLYVANIA THE SUNROOF ON MY 2014 TOYOTA VENZA EXPLODED. THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC OR ANYTHING NEAR US. I INFORMED TOYOTA OF HOPKINSVILLE ABOUT MY CONCERN ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. THEIR RESPONSE WAS THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE I CALLED THE TOYOTA COPORATE OFFICE JUST TO GET TRANSFERED FROM ONE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TO ANOTHER. I AM OUT OF RENTAL CAR EXPENSES PLUS MY INSURANCE DEDUCTIBE. BOTH INSURANCE ESTIMATOR AND TOYOTA TECHNICIAN AGREED NO OBJECT DAMAGED THE ROOF BUT TOYOTA REFUSES TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGES. I JUST WANT TO TRAVEL IN A VEHICLE THAT IS SAFE AND THE CAR MANUFACTURE HAS SOME INTEGRITY.
MICE ARE GAINING ACCESS TO THE INTERIOR CABIN OF MY VEHICLE. I TRAPPED 2 MICE OVER THE LAST 2 DAYS. THE TOYOTA VENZA IS PARKED IN THE SAME GARAGE AS MY PREVIOUS CAR, A 2004 FORD ESCAPE. THE ESCAPE WAS PARKED THERE FOR 11 YEARS AND I NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE. THEY ARE GAINING ACCESS THROUGH THE AIR FILTRATION SYSTEM. IT IS EASY TO SEE THAT THERE ARE OPENINGS NOT COVERED BY SCREEN OR MESH THAT ARE LARGE ENOUGH FOR MICE TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. MY DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THAT ALL CARS HAVE THIS ISSUE AND I WILL BE CHARGED FOR ANY WORK ON THIS PROBLEM AS THEY CONSIDER IT TO BE A "MAINTENENCE ISSUE" WHEN IT IS CLEARLY A DESIGN FLAW. WHY SHOULD THEY CHANGE THE DESIGN? THEY CAN MAKE LOTS OF MONEY LEAVING IT AS IS SO CONSUMERS HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO TRY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. MICE ARE DISEASE CARRYING VERMIN. ALLOWING THEM TO HAVE ACCESS TO MY VEHICLE MAKES IT, IN MY OPINION, UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH KARI TOYOTA IN SUPERIOR, WI ON WED, NOV 4 TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM.
ON 10/08/14 UPON MAKING A LONG TURN OFF OF THE INTERSTATE ONTO A SERVICE ROAD AT LESS THAN 45 MPH, THE PANORAMIC ROOF SHATTERED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY TO BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. WE WERE FIRST TOLD DEFECTIVE GLASS. AFTER 6 MONTHS, THERE IS A POPPING SOUND FROM THE ROOF WHEN MAKING TURNS OR GOING OVER THINGS LIKE RAILROAD TRACKS AND THE ROOF HAS BEGUN TO LEAK. TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR THE LEAK REPAIR ON 8/7/15. AS OF 8/17/15 THE ROOF IS LEAKING AGAIN AND THE POPPING SOUND IS GETTING WORSE AND SOUNDS LIKE ANOTHER BREAKAGE IS NEAR. WERE TOLD THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE THAT TOYOTA COULDN'T FIX DUE TO A LACK OF STRUCTURAL SUPPORTS IN THE ROOF WHICH ALLOWS FOR EXCESSIVE CHASSIS FLEX AND ADVISED TO LIVE WITH IT IF POSSIBLE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN THAT TOYOTA NEEDS TO ADDRESS. OTHER VENZAS HAVE ALSO HAD THE SAME ISSUE.
ON THE FREEWAY GOING 70 MPH, HIT A DEER HEAD ON AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY!!
