EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AT 75K MILES. OIL CHANGE WAS COMPLETED IN NOVEMBER 2020 BY VOLVO AUTHORIZED DEALER/SERVICE. "NO OIL PRESSURE" WARNING MESSAGE CAME ON ON 3/19/21. CHECKED OIL AND IT WAS NEARLY DRY. ADDED 5 QUARTS OF OIL AND CALLED VOLVO ON 3/22/21 TO REPORT. SCHEDULED AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST BUT BASED ON WHAT I'VE READ WITH OTHER COMPLAINTS, THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH VOLVO AND PISTONS/RINGS GOING BAD. FROM READING OTHER COMPLAINTS, IT SEEMS VOLVO MAY NOT BE EASY TO WORK WITH ON THIS. WHY IS THIS NOT ISSUED AS A RECALL?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 VOLVO S60. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CONSUMING AN ABNORMAL AMOUNT OF ENGINE OIL PER WEEK. ADDITIONALLY, THE HEATER AND DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER FAILED TO OPERATE AS DESIGNED. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
MY CAR HAS BEEN AT BERGERON VOLVO FOR ONE MONTH. I HAD TAKEN IT IN DUE TO REAR HEAD REST INTERMITTENTLY NOT STAYING UP. THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE SO I PICKED CAR UP AND IT DID IT AGAIN I TOOK IT BACK. THEY AGAIN COULD NOT FIND. I WENT IN AND IT DID IT WITH SERVICE MANAGER EXCEPT OTHER SIDE REAR HEADREST. I CALLED TODAY TO CHECK ON AND THEY SAID IT WAS BECAUSE WE HIT IT 5-6 TIMES AND OVERHEATED IMPLYING NOT AN ISSUE. THEY SAID SWITCH WAS GETTING HOT ON DASH AND 1400 TO REPLACE. I TOLD THEM TO REPLACE AS UNDER CERTIFIED WARRANTY. HE THEN AVOIDED REPLACING I TOLD HIM I WOULD PICK UP CAR IF HE WOULD WRITE ON PAPER SAFE TO DRIVE AS I DID NOT WANT IT TO FALL DOWN IN ACCIDENT AND BREAK SOMEONES NECK. HE DECLINED AND SAID HE WOULD CALL VOLVO AGAIN. PLEASE HELP. I AM WORRIED IT WILL FALL DOWN DURING IMPACT AND SNAP SOMEONES NECK
2014 VOLVO S60. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCK SAFETY RECALL. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE DOOR COULD NOT BE UNLOCKED, RENDERING THE PASSENGER SEAT UNUSABLE. *JS
ON 7/21/2019, MY 2014 VOLVO S60 (WITH 58,582 MILES) WOULD NOT START. THERE WERE NO ERROR LIGHTS, AND I HAD MY VEHICLE FULLY SERVICED IN APRIL 2019. I HAD ALSO DRIVEN MY CAR THE DAY BEFORE, AND THERE WERE NO ISSUES. I CALLED MY ROADSIDE SERVICE COMPANY AND HAD MY BATTERY CHECKED, BUT THE BATTERY WAS NOT THE ISSUE. I HAD TO TOW MY CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP. THE FIRST REPAIR SHOP STATED THAT THE 'SERPENTINE BELT FAILED AND WORKED ITS WAY INTO THE TIMING COVER, CAUSING THE TIMING BELT TO BECOME MISALIGNED. THIS CONDITION CAUSED THE VALVES IN THE CYLINDER HEAD TO CONTACT THE PISTONS AND BENT THE VALVES. CAR HAS NO COMPRESSION. WILL REQUIRE CYLINDER HEAD REPLACEMENT.' THIS FACILITY INDICATED THAT I WOULD NEED THE ASSEMBLY HEAD REPLACED ($7,424.03), A/C BELT REPLACED ($57.41), ALTERNATOR BELT REPLACED ($73.81), AND SERPENTINE BELT TENSIONER REPLACED ($131.09). ADDITIONALLY, BASED ON THIS SHOP'S REPORTS, MY VEHICLE'S WARRANTY COMPANY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIRS. DUE TO THE HIGH COST OF REPAIRS, I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO A DIFFERENT SHOP FOR A SECOND OPINION. THIS SHOP STATED THAT 'ENGINE HAS NO COMPRESSION. INSPECTED CYLINDER WITH BORESCOPE. VALVE CONTACT MARKS VISIBLE ON TOP OF THE PISTONS. NEEDS INTERNAL ENGINE REPAIRS.' THE SECOND SHOP SAID SIMILAR THINGS AS THE FIRST SHOP. I DECIDED TO TOW MY CAR TO MY FATHER'S SHOP IN TEXAS, WHERE I KNEW I WOULD RECEIVE AN HONEST ASSESSMENT OF WHAT WENT WRONG. MY FATHER DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AFTER TAKING THE ENGINE APART. ONE OF THE LEVERS WAS NO LONGER SECURING THE TIMING BELT, THUS CAUSING THE TIMING BELT AND ALL THE SUBSEQUENT PARTS TO MALFUNCTION. I HAVE INDICATED THE FAILED LEVER IN THIS PICTURE. RATHER THAN REBUILDING THE ENGINE, MY FATHER INSTALLED A NEW ENGINE. HE ALSO REPLACED THE GASKETS AND TIMING KIT. AFTER HE COMPLETED THE REPAIRS, HE SHIPPED THE CAR BACK TO DC, AND IT HAS BEEN DRIVING WELL.
ECO FRIENDLY SOY BASED MATERIALS USED FOR WIRING ATTRACTS RODENTS AND RESULTS IN MODERATE TO SEVERE DAMAGE. HAD MY CAR "EATEN" BY SQUIRRELS TWICE IN 3 MONTHS, THE FIRST TIME THE DAMAGE WAS AROUND $300, THE SECOND $2500! I HAVE NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS WONT HAPPEN AGAIN, IN FACT IT LIKELY WILL BECAUSE THE WIRE CASING IS STILL SOY BASED!!!!
BD44 SRS AIR BAG TRIM HAS BECOME LOOSE ON THE BACK OF THE STEERING WHEEL RESULTING IN A SHARP HARD PLASTIC BEING EXPOSED RESULTING IN THE DRIVER CUTTING HIS FINGER ( DRAWING BLOOD) WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. SIGNIFICANTLY DISTRACTED THE DRIVER AS HE REMOVED ONE HAND FROM THE WHEEL IN RESPONSE TOM THE CUT. APPARENTLY THE GLUE FOR THE TRIM IS INADEQUATE TO KEEP IT SAFELY SECURED.
TAHATA RECALL. MY TIRES ARE NO MORE SAFE TO DRIVE WITH FROM THE DEALER.AND ONLY AFTER 52000KM. I AM GOING IN VACATION AND I WILL NOT BE ABLKE TO DRIVE MY CAR WITH THESE TIRES
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 VOLVO S60. WHILE ENTERING A COMMERCIAL GARAGE AND SLIGHTLY DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO TWO PARKED VEHICLES. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND THEN TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC IGNITION SYSTEM AND BATTERY SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
I LEASE A 2014 VOLVO S60. THE VEHICLE CAME EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL TIRES, SIZE 235/45-R17-97V. THE DOT # IS AF8P-NIH6. THE ODOMETER HAS 8, 550 MILES. I DRIVE THE VEHICLE VERY CAREFULLY AND CONSERVATIVELY. I HAVE NOT HIT ANY CURBS, CARSTOPS OR POTHOLES. ON JANUARY 7TH I REPLACED THE LEFT FRONT TIRE DUE TO A BUBBLE IN THE SIDEWALL. TODAY I NOTICED A BUBBLE IN THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE TIRE. I BELIEVE THESE BUBBLES ARE DUE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND NOT BECAUSE I HIT SOMETHING WITH THE TIRES. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS COMPLAINT.

FRONT LEFT WHEEL CAME OFF WHEN PULLING INTO GARAGE ONLY HELD ON BY 1 AND 1/2 BOLTS. 4/13/2014 ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING WHILE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC CAR STALLED IN MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. 5/5/2014 DYNAMIC TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM FAILED AND CAR BECAME UNCONTROLLABLY WOBBLY WHILE DRIVING. 5/5/2014 OTHER NUMEROUS FAILURES INCLUDE: BREAKDOWN OF THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING AS THE CONTACT RELEASED THE CRUISE CONTROL FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW PROGRAM NEEDED TO BE DOWNLOADED INTO THE CENTRAL COMPUTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,200.
I PURCHASED THE CAR ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 18, ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19, THE CAR WENT HAYWIRE, WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD TURN OFF, NO TURN SIGNALS, NO HEADLIGHTS, AND NO INSTRUMENT PANEL. TOTALLY UNSAFE. CONTACTED DEALER, AND HE SAID, "WOW, YOU'RE THE 2ND PERSON TODAY TO CALL WITH THESE ISSUES. WE THINK THERE MAY BE A RECALL, BUT YOU'LL HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE GERMAN DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY." NO HELP, NO CONCERN FOR SAFETY, NOTHING! HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED IN ON MONDAY, AND GERMAN DEALERSHIP HAS TO ORDER THE SOFTWARE. MY CAR SITS, THE DEALERSHIP THAT SOLD THE S60 TO US, DENIES THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE! CAPITOL MOTORS SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN! I AM PAYING FOR A NEW CAR, I CANNOT EVEN DRIVE! *TR

Volvo is recalling certain model year 2014 S60, S80, XC60 and XC70 vehicles equipped with keyless ignition. In the affected vehicles, the Central Electronic Module (CEM) will not perform as intended. As a result, the front windshield wipers might run continuously when the ignition is on. Also, the turn signals, high beams, and headlight switch might not work.

Volvo Car of USA LLC (Volvo) is recalling certain 2011-2017 S60, S60I, V60, S60CC and V60CC vehicles. A component within the door latches may break, making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.

Volvo Cars of N.A., LLC (Volvo) is recalling certain 2008-2016 V70 and XC70, 2007-2016 S80, 2011-2018 S60 and V60, 2016-2018 S60 Cross Country, 2014-2020 S60L, 2009-2015 S80L, 2009-2016 XC60 and 2015-2018 V60 Cross Country vehicles. The flexible steel cable that connects the seat belt to the front outboard seating positions may fatigue over time, causing the seat belt to not secure the occupant in the event of a crash.
