Started out from a stop light that changes quickly, vehicle lost all forward power and the cross traffic light changed almost causing me to be hit by a semi truck and trailer luckily he was able to barely get around me while locking up his brakes. When incident occurred I had pushed my accelerator, started moving forward and suddenly the engine revved up to the governor limits and I came to a stop in the middle of the intersection as cars started flying by me. Other vehicles had limited warning as this intersection is in a sweeping blind corner. Very very scary
Driving through neighborhood and went to turn onto a street when suddenly vehicle revved up to governor limits and would not go forward. Vehicle behind me almost rear ended me because I lost forward motion with no indication like brake lights or any warning. Had to pull vehicle over came to a stop and it would not go. Put vehicle in park and then in drive and it decided to work.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Spark. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would intermittently jerk without warning while shifting gears. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where they were initially unable to duplicate the failure. Upon return of the vehicle, the failure persisted. The contact took the vehicle back to the same dealer where they were able to duplicate the failure and informed him that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered a 10% discount off the cost of a new transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 133,000. MY RADIO WHICH CONTROLS EVERYTHING REGARDING CHARGING AND BLUETOOTH, IT HAS A TOUCH SCREEN WHICH HAS NOW BECOME COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE. THE ONLY TIME IT WILL EVER LET YOU TOUCH LIKE NORMAL IS IF THE CAR SITS UNDER THE HOT SUMMER SUN. AND EVEN THEN THE SCREEN STARTS TOUCHING RANDOM PARTS OF THE SCREEN MESSING UP SETTINGS . IT HAD ISSUES CALIBRATING EVERY NOW AND THEN WHEN I PURCHASED IT ALSO. THAT WAS IN WINTER.
WHENEVER I STOP AT A LIGHT AND TRY TO MOVE OFF WHEN THE LIGHT TURN GREEN, I WOULD PRESS THE ACCELERATOR AND THE CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND FOR ABOUT 3 TO 4 MINS SOMETHING WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION. THIS COULD CAUSE ACCIDENT ON THE ROAD.

RANDOMLY WHILE PARKED ON INCLINE, START THE CAR, PUT IN REVERSE, AND START BACKING DOWN THE DRIVE WAY THE BRAKES WOULD TOTALLY FAIL AND NO AMOUNT OF PRESSING ON THE BRAKES WOULD STOP THE CAR. THE CAR GAVE NO BRAKE FAILURE WARNINGS.

HOPE NHTSA INVESTIGATES THE BRAKES ON CHEVY SPARKS. THE TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKES WAS VERIFIED ON FIRST SHOP TRIP BY CHEVY TECH. 1 DAY AFTER REPAIR, TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE AGAIN. THIS TIME IT SET IN THE SHOP FOR A WEEK, AWAITING GM RESPONSE. GM CASE NUMBER 9-6003224546 THIS IS THE SECOND BRAKE FAILURE COMPLAINT FOR THE CAR, BUT I ONLY HAVE THE SERVICE REPORT FOR THE ORIGINAL FAILURE AND REPAIR. DOCUMENT IS PROVIDED WITH THIS COMPLAINT.

THE CONTACTED STATED THAT THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER FRONT SEAT PASSENGER WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. . THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY CAR LOST ALL POWER IN THE TRANSMISSION, I STEPPED ON THE GAS AND NOTHING HAPPENED BUT THE CAR STILL REVVED. IT'S AS IF IT SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR WHILE GOING 65MPH AND WOULD NOT KICK BACK INTO GEAR. I WAS AFRAID OF GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE SUDDEN LOSS IN SPEED. I'VE READ THAT 2013-2015 SPARKS ARE KNOWN FOR HAVING BAD TRANSMISSIONS AND I BELIEVE MY PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY TCM.
MANUAL TRANSMISSION REPEATED FAILURES. THE TRANSMISSION HAS GONE OUT 5 TIMES, BEEN IN SHOP FOR GRAND TOTAL OF 6 MONTHS. 3RD AND 4TH GEAR SYNCHROS HAVE GONE OUT. CABLES ARE POPPING OFF AND NOT ALLOWING TO SHIFT. MAJORITY OF FAILURES HAVE HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEED, POSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHERE A UNPOWERED VEHICLE IS TRYING TO EXIT MOVING TRAFFIC.
MY CAR HAS BEEN SQUEALING AND LURCHING AT SPEEDS OVER 30MPH FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND TODAY THE TRANSMISSION LOST POWER ON THE HIGHWAY.
NEED AIR BAG FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE
THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN VERY SLUGGISH SINCE I BOUGHT IT. IT IS NOW UNSAFE TO DRIVE, ESPECIALLY IN THE HEAT. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY INSTANCES WHEN I'M AT A COMPLETE STOP AND THE CAR WON'T GO WHEN I HAVE THE GAS PEDAL FLOORED. I HAVE HAD 3 CLOSE CALLS AT INTERSECTIONS WHEN MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN, WHEN THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN AMPLE TIME TO GET THROUGH THE INTERSECTION BASED ON THE DISTANCE BETWEEN MY VEHICLE AND ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE CHEVROLET SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR THIS ISSUE. THEY HAVE DONE DIAGNOSTICS AND SUPPOSEDLY DRIVEN IT, BUT COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY CONCERN. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON BUSY CITY STREETS, AT ON-RAMPS GETTING ONTO THE FREEWAY, AT BUSY INTERSECTIONS GOING STRAIGHT AND TURNING BOTH DIRECTIONS, AND ON LOW GRADE HILLS, I HAVE TO FLOOR THE GAS PEDAL TWO OR THREE TIMES BEFORE THE CAR WILL MOVE. THE PROPULSION INCREASES AT A VERY SLOW, UNSAFE RATE OF SPEED.
GOT A "SERVICE STABLE TRACK" INDICATION AND BRAKES WOULD LOSE ASSISTED POWER RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. (WHICH IS NOT VERY SAFE.) BEFORE THIS I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH LOOSING ASSISTED BRAKES AFTER STOPPING THAT DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER JUST AFTER I BOUGHT IT. THIS TIME I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM AND THE COMPUTER WAS THROWING LOTS OF WEIRD CODES. SO THEY TOOK IT TO THE CHEVY DEALER AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE BOLTS THAT MOUNT THE EBCM TO THE BPMV WERE LOOSE. THEY DECIDED THAT THE BOLTS WEREN'T TIGHTENED ENOUGH FROM A WARRANTY REPAIR ON THE BPMV THAT I DIDN'T REALIZE WAS DONE LESS THAN TWO YEARS AGO SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR USED. TECHNICALLY I FEEL LIKE WE DON'T REALLY KNOW FOR SURE IF THE BOLTS WERE TIGHTENED TO THE CORRECT TORQUE IN THE FIRST PLACE OR NOT. I HAVE SEEN A NUMBER OF BRAKE PROBLEMS REPORTED ON THIS MODEL. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE ISSUE COULD CAUSE FALSE CODES TO BE REPORTED BECAUSE THE EBCM IS NOT GROUNDED WELL AND ALSO CAUSES AIR GETTING INTO THE BRAKE SYSTEM. MY CONCERN IS THIS MIGHT NOT BE AN ISOLATED INCIDENT, BUT I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE.
ON 8/6/2019 AROUND FIVE IN THE MORNING AS I WAS LEAVING WORK ON A CITY STREET, MY RIGHT SIGNAL LIGHT JUST CAME ON AND HASN'T CUT OFF YET, NO MATTER WHAT I DO IT WON'T CUT OFF. I CHECKED ALL FUSES AND CHECKED THE WHOLE CAR AND FOUND NOTHING

IT'S BEEN ABOUT A YEAR LATER AND I WENT TO START MY CAR AND IT REPEATED THE SAME THING. I AM STILL UNDER 50,000 MILES ON MY CAR AND THESE ARE JUST THE LAST TWO ISSUES I'VE HAD WITH IT. THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT 65K MILES AND NOW IT NEEDS A 3RD TRANSMISSION AFTER ONLY 50K MILES ON THE 2ND TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE HAS 115K MILES CURRENTLY. CONTEXT: IT WAS A WET EVENING HERE IN PORTLAND, OR (8:15PM PDT, APRIL 13TH) AND I WAS GETTING NEW TIRES THE FOLLOWING WEEK, SO I DIDN'T CARE ABOUT THE LONGEVITY OF THE TIRES. ALSO, WHAT I EXPERIENCED WAS SOMETHING I READ ONLINE BEFORE BUYING THE SPARK. I MADE A LEGAL U-TURN TO GET TO THE ENTRANCE OF FRED MEYER (A KROGER STORE) AND HIT THE ACCELERATOR HARD ENOUGH (~60% THROTTLE) TO SPIN THE TIRES AND THE TRACTION CONTROL ACTIVATED. I THEN SAW THE SEMI-HIDDEN ENTRANCE AND HIT THE BRAKES HARD MAKE A RIGHTHAND TURN INTO FRED MEYER. THE BRAKES ENGAGED (W/ ABS) THEN DISENGAGED AFTER ~.3 SECONDS. IT FELT LIKE THE MOTOR WAS REGEN'ING SLIGHTLY BUT THE MECHANICAL BRAKES WERE NOT ENGAGED. I STARTED TO PUMP THE BRAKES. ABOUT 4 PUMPS AND ~60 FEET LATER, THE BRAKES ENGAGED. I DID NOT MAKE MY TURN AND NO ONE GOT HURT. HERE'S A NOTE I RECEIVED FROM A LADY ON A CHEVY SPARK EV FACEBOOK GROUP: MY HUSBAND (AND AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRICAL ENGINEER) EXPLAINS HOW THIS IS PISS-POOR SOFTWARE PROGRAMMING ON GM'S PART. THIS ALL HAS TO DO WITH WHAT THE SYSTEM DOES WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL IF SOMETHING LIKE THE ABS MODULE OR OTHER HARDWARE ISN'T FUNCTIONING. WHAT HE EXPLAINS IS HAPPENING IS INSTEAD OF ALLOWING THE NORMAL BRAKING SYSTEM TO CONTINUE TO MODULATE AND FUNCTION, IT JUST SHUTS DOWN. NISSAN EVEN HAD ISSUES WITH BRAKING GOING INTO SOMETHING KNOWN AS 'ICE MODE' AND FAILING. (NOT WIDELY KNOWN OUTSIDE OF THE INDUSTRY) HE ALSO COMPARED THIS TO THE BOEING PLANE CRASH SOFTWARE ISSUE THERE (IN THAT CASE THE SOFTWARE KEPT THINKING THERE WAS ABOUT TO BE A STALL AND WOULD NOSE DIVE TO AVOID IT WHICH IN ITSELF ULTIMATELY CAUSING A CRASH). ESSENTIALLY ALL SPARK EVS HAVE THIS SAME POTENTIAL BUT ONLY SOME SEEM TO BE AFFECTED (ALL DEPENDS ON IF A COMPONENT IN THE SYSTEM FAILS OR NOT--- THAT'S WHEN THE TROUBLE STARTS BECAUSE WHOEVER DID THAT SOFTWARE CODING AND TESTING DID A CRAP JOB OF IT).

BEARING INITIALLY WENT AT APPRX 40K MILES.. REPLACING SAME BEARING AT OVER $440 OUT OF POCKET (1) YR LATER AS EXCEEDED THE 12K MILES WARRANTY. SERVICE AT DEALERSHIP STATES "BEARINGS ARE NOT MEANT TO LAST".. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A BEARING IN ANY VEHICLE, EVER. TO HAVE MY BEARING FAIL EAR YEAR IS A PROBLEM.

I HAVE A 2015 CHEVY SPARK THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING IS WITH THE GOODYEAR TIRES. I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY PUT AIR IN THE TIRES AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH. NOW IT'S ONCE A WEEK. I HAD THESE TIRES FIXED FOR LEAKS. SEATS - THE DRIVER SEAT BECOMES LOOSE RESULTING IN MOVING FORWARD WHILE PUTTING ON BREAKS OR BEGINNING TO ACCELERATE. SPEED CONTROL - THE VEHICLE TAKES A WHILE TO ACCELERATE AFTER BEING AT REST.
WHILE DRIVING NORMALLY, THE "SERVICE STABILITRAC" WARNING APPEARS FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY A "SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST" WARNING. THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL REQUIRES EXTREME EFFORT TO SLOW OR STOP THE CAR. THE REGENERATIVE BRAKING IS ALSO DISABLED. AFTER STOPPING THE CAR, THE CAR CAN BE TURNED OFF AND THEN BACK ON WHEREUPON THE BRAKES WILL BE WORKING NORMALLY. THE WARNINGS AND LOSS OF BRAKING ASSIST MAY STAY AWAY FOR A PERIOD OF 1 MINUTE OR UP TO 1 WEEK OR MORE. IT APPEARS TO BE VERY RANDOM. FORTUNATELY, NONE OF THE OCCURRENCES HAVE RESULTED IN A CRASH, BUT THERE HAVE BEEN SCARED DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, STABILITY LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP IT IS HAVING RANDOM MISFIRES. THE DEALERSHIP IS WANTING ME TO PAY AROUND $350 TO HAVE THE CARBON CLEANED OUT BUT THEY CAN'T GUARANTEE THAT WILL FIX IT. THEY SAID MY WARRANTY DOESN'T COVER IT. THEN I ASKED IF I GO THAT ROUTE AND IT DOESN'T FIX IT, WHAT THE NEXT STEP IS. THEY SAID TO TAKE THE ENGINE OUT AND CLEAN IT BY HAND, ROUGHLY $1000, AND THE WARRANTY DOESN'T COVER THAT EITHER. I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH THEIR RESPONSE AND AFTER READING PAGES AND PAGES OF THE SAME ISSUE IN FORUMS AND NO ONE MENTIONING THEY HAD TO GO THROUGH THESE STEPS HAS LEAD ME TO BELIEVE IT IS ONLY PUTTING A BANDAID ON THE ISSUE. WE KNOW OF AT LEAST 4 OTHER IDENTICAL ISSUES WITH BRAKE FAILURE AT OUR DEALERSHIP ALONE WITH ONE OWNER HAVING BRAKE FAILURE 3 SEPARATE TIMES ON THE SAME 2015 CHEVY SPARK. THEY REPLACED HER 2015 WITH A 2016 AND HAD THE SAME BRAKE FAILURE IN HER NEW CAR. *TR

LUCKILY WE WERE ON A SLIGHT INCLINE AND THERE WASN'T MUCH TRAFFIC SO WE WERE ABLE TO SAFELY NAVIGATE THE CAR INTO A PARKING LOT AND STOP BY HITTING A CURB. OTHERWISE, I DON'T WANT TO SPECULATE ON WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED.

THE BLACK PLASTIC TRIM ON THE DOORS APPEARS TO BE "MELTING" OFF THE CAR. THE TRIM FROM THE TOP OF THE DOOR IS ACTUALLY DROOPING IN A MELTING APPEARANCE. CONTACTED MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE SEEN THIS WITH ALMOST EVERY SPARK THAT COMES IN FOR SERVICE; HOWEVER IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE CAR IS PARKED IN A GARAGE AND IS NOT EXPOSED TO EXTREME HEAT, ONLY NORMAL WEATHER CONDITIONS DURING THE DAY.
12 TRIPS TO DEALERSHIP, 70 DAYS IN SHOP, 5 DEALERSHIPS, 3 STATES. THE CAR CANNOT ACCELERATE TO SAFE SPEEDS FROM A COMPLETE STOP. OUR RAMPS ARE METERED AND THE CAR JUST WON'T GO, HAVE TO HAVE THE CAR SHIMMY BEFORE IT WILL GO AND THE FOOT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR. GM STATES THAT THIS IS NORMAL. IT'S WORSE WHEN THE AC OR HEATER WAS ON, GM RECOMMENDATION IS TO NOT DRIVE WITH AC OR HEATER ON AS IT MAKES THE CAR SEEM LIKE IT'S UNDER A HEAVY LOAD. ALSO SMELL EMITS FROM VENT THAT IS MAKING PEOPLE SICK. TOOK TO FIRE STATION AS THE SYMPTOMS PRESENT LIKE CARBON MONOXIDE. DEALERSHIPS HAVE CONFIRMED IT'S SOME SORT OF CHEMICAL BUT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS. DOESN'T MATTER IF CAR IS BEING DRIVEN OR RUNNING WHILE SITTING STILL. FIRE DEPARTMENT SAID NO CO SO NOW LOOKING AT HAVING IT TESTED AT A AIR QUALITY LAB.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON STREET, GOING STRAIGHT, WHEN STEERING LOCKED UP AND CAR COULD NOT BE CONTROLLED. THIS RESULTED IN CAR GOING OFF IN A DITCH. SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 35MPH. RIGHT FRONT WHEEL LOCKED IN POSITION, AND NO CONTROL WAS POSSIBLE. THIS WAS APPROX. ONE-EIGHTH OF A MILE FROM HOME. CAR WAS BACKED OUT OF DITCH, AND VERY CAREFULLY AND SLOWLY DRIVEN HOME. FROM THERE IT WAS TOWED TO SAPAUGH CHEVROLET IN HERCULANEUM, MISSOURI. INSPECTION RESULTS HAVE BEEN INCONCLUSIVE. REPORTED TO GENERAL MOTORS. WE ARE NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE.
I WAS HEADING EAST ON I40 TOWARDS RALEIGH NC DRIVING THE SPEED LIMIT WHEN THE HOOD OF THE CAR CAME UP AND HIT THE WINDSHIELD. AT FIRST I DIDNT REALIZE WHAT IT WAS. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND THATS WHEN I SAW THAT IT WAS THE HOOD OF THE CAR. I SHUT THE HOOD AND CHECKED TO SEE IF IT WAS LATCHED. IT STAYED LATCHED SO I CONTINUED HOME. THERE WERE SMALL PIECES OF GLASS EVERYWHERE. IT HAPPENED ABOUT AN HOUR INTO MY DRIVE.
I WAS DRIVING A CHEVY SPARK 2015 TO MY LOCAL SUPERMARKET, LESS THAN 3 OR SO MILES FROM MY HOME. I WAS SEVERAL MILES UNDER THE 40 MPH SPEED LIMIT. I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE OF A TWO LANE ROAD. I COULD SEE STOPPED TRAFFIC QUITE A WAYS AHEAD OF ME ' ALSO IN THE RIGHT LANE. THERE WERE AT LEAST 6-7 CARS IN FRONT OF ME AND A TRUCK IN FRONT OF THE CARS. I COULD SEE THE CARS/TRUCK WERE STOPPED FOR THE STOPLIGHT BUT THEY WERE QUITE A WAYS AHEAD OF ME. THERE WAS NO ONE IN THE LEFT LANE SO I DECIDED TO MAKE A LANE CHANGE AS THERE WAS PLENTY OF ROOM AHEAD OF ME TO DO SO. THE NEXT THING I KNEW I LOST CONTROL OF MY CAR AND IT SEEMED TO ACCELERATE AND SLAMMED HARD INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE POLICE OFFICER CALLED TO THE SCENE SAID I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MAKING A LANE CHANGE BECAUSE I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I EXPLAINED TO HIM SEVERAL TIMES THAT I WAS DEFINITELY MAKING A LANE CHANGE BUT I COULD NOT EXPLAIN THE ACCIDENT OR HOW I HAD HIT A CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE POLICE OFFICER TOLD ME I MUST HAVE BEEN DISTRACTED. I TOLD THE OFFICER I WAS DEFINITELY NOT DISTRACTED AND WAS VERY AWARE OF MY SURROUNDINGS AND THE OTHER VEHICLES. THE OFFICER AGAIN TOLD ME I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MAKING A LANE CHANGE SINCE I HIT THE CAR STRAIGHT ON. IT WAS ACTUALLY THE POLICE OFFICERS' ASSERTION THAT I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MAKING A LANE CHANGE THAT LATER MADE ME LOOK ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT CHEVY SPARKS. I DISCOVERED DRIVER COMPLAINTS ABOUT STEERING WHEEL LOCKUP AND ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. I WASN'T CERTAIN ABOUT ANYTHING AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT EXCEPT THAT IT MADE NO SENSE GIVEN THE FACT THAT I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING A LANE CHANGE JUST BEFORE I HIT THE OTHER CAR. HOWEVER, I AM NOW CONVINCED THE ACCIDENT WAS THE RESULT OF SOMETHING OUTSIDE OF MY CONTROL AND I BELIEVE THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH BOTH THE ACCELERATOR A WELL AS THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP.

THE DRIVER OF OUR VEHICLE HAD BRAKED BUT WAS STILL MOVING AT APPROX 25-30 MPH; THE CAR THAT HIT US WAS LIKELY GOING 55-60 MPH. THIS ACCIDENT HAPPENED AT APPROX. 4:25 PM ON APRIL 29, 2016 ALONG NORTHBOUND I-5, JUST PAST LACEY, WA. THE SKY AND AIR WERE CLEAR AND THE HIGHWAY SURFACE WAS DRY. THE WA STATE TROOPERS RESPONDED AND CITED THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE; OUR VEHICLE DID NOT HIT ANYTHING, AND OUR DRIVER WAS NOT CITED. I AM NOT AWARE OF THE EXTENT OF DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE THAT HIT US OR TO ITS OCCUPANTS; A POLICE REPORT IS AVAILABLE. BOTH FRONT SEATS IN THIS 2015 CHEV SPARK FAILED OR BROKE UPON IMPACT. THE DRIVER SEAT BACK BROKE, AND CAME UP AND SLAPPED THE DRIVER HARD IN THE BACK. SHE SAID THE WIND WAS KNOCKED OUT OF HER AND SHE COULD NOT BREATHE. SHE HAS A BRUISE ON THE BACK OF HER HEAD WHERE THE HEADREST HIT HER, AND SHE HAS A CONCUSSION. SHE DID NOT IMPACT THE STEERING WHEEL. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. SHE MAINTAINED AN UPRIGHT POSITION AND MAINTAINED CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH HER SEAT HAD FAILED. MY SEAT (FRONT PASSENGER SEAT) BROKE AND SLAMMED FORWARD ON THE RUNNERS. I WAS SLAMMED INTO THE DASHBOARD, BRUISING MY CHEST AND MY LOWER FRONT LEGS, AND ALSO HAVE DEEP BRUISING FROM SEAT BELT IMPACT. THE METAL RUNNERS ON THE SEAT SLAMMED INTO THE BACK OF MY LEGS, LEAVING VERY LARGE AND PAINFUL HEMATOMA ON THE BACKS OF BOTH MY LOWER LEGS. THE SEAT BACK DROPPED AND I FELL BACKWARD.

ONSTAR STATES 3 DIFFERENT CODES POPPED UP AND TO TAKE CAR IN WITHIN 7 DAYS. HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED BECAUSE THE CAR WOULDN'T GO INTO GEAR AT ALL. CALLED CHEVY CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THEY HAVE HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING AND THE OPEN RECALL IS FOR ROUGH SHIFTING WHICH I HAD AN APT SET UP FOR FEB. 22, 2016 TO GET THE OPEN RECALL FIXED. CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DRIVEN AND WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. NOT FOR WHAT MY CAR IS DOING. AFTER CAR MOVED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FINALLY CAME ON BUT HAS A DIFFERENT CODE THAN THE PREVIOUS TWO CODES. ONSTAR SAID THAT CODE HAS TO DO WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND EMISSIONS. A NEW CAR SHOULDN'T HAVE THESE KIND OF ISSUES ESPECIALLY 6 MONTHS OF BUYING THE VEHICLE NEW. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING A CHEMICAL CAUSING THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS TO BECAME ILL. THE CONSUMER WAS ADVISED THE ILLNESS COULD BE CAUSED ETHANOL GLYCOL POISONING. *JS
THE CENTER CONSOLE SCREEN (INFOTAINMENT) IS VERY BRIGHT ON ITS LOWEST LIGHT LEVEL SETTING. NO WAY TO TURN OFF THE SCREEN OR DIM IT MORE THE WHERE THE FACTORY SETTING IS. TALKED WITH DEALER, ONSTAR CALL CENTER, AND CUSTOMER ACTIVIST AT CHEVROLET. THEY ALL SAY IT IS A FACTORY SETTING THAT CANNOT BE CHANGED. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, BECAUSE AT ITS LOWEST SETTING I CAN NOT SEE IF THERE IS ANY WILDLIFE OF HUMANS ALONG THE EDGE OF THE RURAL ROAD AT NIGHT. IT IS LIKE DRIVING IN A CONDITION EQUIVALENT TO HAVING A CONSTANT ONCOMING HIGH BEAM LIGHT. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL FOR A PROGRAMMING UPDATE TO THE COMPUTER SO THERE IS A VIRTUAL DIMMER SWITCH THAT GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN TO OFF.

AFTER TRAVELING ABOUT 1/2 MILE, AFTER EXITING, THE "PROPULSION POWER IS REDUCED" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY THE VEHICLE SLOWING DOWN ALTHOUGH I'M PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR FOR MORE POWER. AFTER STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE CAR MOVED VERY SLOWLY EVEN WHEN I'M FLOORING THE ACCELERATOR. I FINALLY MADE IT TO THE CHURCH PARKING LIGHT WITH THE VEHICLE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 5 MPH. THE CAR WAS TOWED BACK TO MY HOUSE, ABOUT 17 MILES AWAY. THE FAILURE COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS IF I WAS USING THE FREEWAY. THE "PROPULSION POWER IS REDUCED" WARNING LIGHT DID NOT COME ON THE FOLLOWING DAY WHEN THE POWER WAS TURNED ON. HOWEVER, THE "SERVICE THE VEHICLE SOON WARNING LIGHT " CAME ON THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE ON 5/26/15.

The secondary hood latch may prematurely corrode at the latch pivot causing the striker to get stuck out of position, preventing it from properly engaging the hood latch.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Spark vehicles manufactured April 30, 2014, to May 20, 2015, and 2015 Chevrolet Sonic vehicles manufactured June 18, 2014, to June 10, 2015. In the affected vehicles, equipped with the base radio and OnStar, the radio may lock up due to a software issue, causing the display to go blank and all audio functions to cease. Because of this, there may be no warning chimes such as the reminder to buckle the seat belt and the key being left in ignition when the driver goes to exit the vehicle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 208 "Occupant Crash Protection", and 114 "Theft Protection."
