65mph, without warning, motor dies. Motor idles, shut off and restarted, back on interstate approximately 100 yards and motor dies again. Google closest Ford garage, 2 more times died and now showed check engine light. Ford showed defective throttle body and replaced
While driving through a busy intersection, the vehicle seemed as if it had shifted into neutral rendering the accelerator powerless. I was able to coast into a parking lot and noticed the wrench warning light being on. The engine was also shaking very noticeably. I turned off the engine and read up on the warning light to learn it indicated a powertrain failure. Called a mechanic who stated it could be the throttle body and/or throttle body actuator. It was suggested the engine should be turned off (already done) and restarted. I did as instructed and the engine began running smoothly again. Wrench warning light was no longer on. Without having control of the powertrain, this situation could have caused an accident as I had no ability to control the vehicle's power and could not navigate through the intersection in a safe manner. I feel like my safety and others was put at risk. I have taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who is also an Auto Mechanic Instructor at the local high school. I await his diagnostic result. There were no earlier symptoms or wrench warning light previous to this incident.
Dealer has diagnosed Throttle Body Failure which is well documented with these vehicles and known the the NHTSA even though there is no recall and no extended warranty for this particular vehicle (though there is for others). This a major safety issue as the vehicle looses all throttle response and puts its occupants at risk for a collision.
Rear hatch door has excessive rust around the weather sealing
WHILE PASSING SLOWER TRAFFIC ON I 80 EXPERIENCED SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. WAS TRAVELLING AT SPEED LIMIT (80) WITH CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE INTO THE MEDIAN TO AVOID A SUDDEN SLOW DOWN IN THE LEFT LANE LINE OF TRAFFIC. LATER DIAGNOSED TO BE THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IN AN AREA OR SITUATION WHERE I COULD NOT HAVE IMMEDIATELY LEFT THE ROAD IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A REAR END COLLISION AT HIGHWAY SPEED.
WAS TRAVELING DOWN HIGHWAY AND VEHICLE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND EXITED HIGHWAY WHEN SAFE AND VEHICLE QUIT RUNNING AND WOULDN'T RESTART. IT SEEMS THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE AND THEN DAMAGED THE ENGINE. DEALER REP SAID THEY HAVE SEEN A LOT OF THESE, BUT NOT RECALLS YET.
THE BACKUP CAMERA BECOMES BLURRY AND SILL DISTORTED. WHY ARE ONLY NEW FORD EXPEDITIONS RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM? THIS PROBLEM STARTED JUST OVER A YEAR AFTER PURCHASE AND I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THIS FIXED. I TRY NOT TO RELY ON THIS AMD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY FEATURES, AND IT DOES NOT PROPERLY WORK. SOMETIMES IT DOES AND SOMETIMES IT IS SO BLURRY AND DISTORTED I CAN NOT TELL IF SOMETHING OR SOMEONE IS BEHIND MY VEHICLE. IT IS WHEN I BACK UP THAT THE PROBLEM OCCURS.
WHEN PULLING OUT INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC ON A DIVIDED FOUR LANE ROAD, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND WENT INTO LIMP MODE ALMOST CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CODE WAS LATER TO BE DETERMINED P2112 THROTTLE ACTUATOR A CONTROL SYSTEM STUCK CLOSED. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE IT WAS APPARENT THAT THE FORD 3.5 ECOBOOST MOTOR HAS QUITE A HISTORY OF THESE TYPE FAILURES. OFTEN DRIVER SAFETY IS COMPROMISED AS THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING WILL LOSE POWER JUST WHEN YOU NEED IT. THE FIX IS TO INSTALL A NEW THROTTLE BODY WITH ELECTRONIC ACTUATOR.
2015 EXPEDITION 3.5 ECOBOOST STALLS OUT WHILE DRIVING DUE TO DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY (CODE P2112). THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL.
CAR IN MOTION, HESITATES AND SOMETIME GOES TO LOW POWER MODE WHERE YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER, TURN CAR OFF WAIT AND RESTART TO BE ABLE TO CONTINUE THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN 2 YEARS, DEALERSHIP DECODES AND REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY, CHARGING EACH TIME TO FIX THE ISSUE
OUR VEHICLE EXPERIENCED TOTAL FAILURE OF THE BREAK MASTER CYLINDER AND BREAK BOOSTER. THIS WAS DUE TO BREAK FLUID LEAKING INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER, DEPLETING THE BREAK FLUID RESERVOIR RENDERING THE BREAK SYSTEM COMPLETELY INOPERABLE. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS BEFORE THIS TOOK PLACE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE FAILURE TOOK PLACE. THERE IS A SIMILAR RECALL ON THE FORD F-150 WHICH USES THE SAME PARTS AS THE EXPEDITION. RECALL # 20S31. WE HAVE ATTACHED ALL DOCUMENTATION OF THE REPAIR.
VEHICLE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN WHLIE DRIVEING AT ANY GIVEN TIME, GEAR AND SPEEDS. ALL ELECTRICAL PARTS REMAINS WORKING. STOP AND RESTART THE CAR AND IT'S WORKING AGAIN FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN AGAIN.WHILE IN MOTION. HOWEVER IT SEAMS TO HAPPEN WHEN YOU ACCELERATE, AND IF YOU KEEP A CONSTANT RPM THE CAR LASTS LONGER BEFORE THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN. NO ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON AT FIRST ONLY AFTER FEW SHUTDOWN. WHEN CHECKING THE ERROR CODE ITS P2112
SAME MASTER CYLINDER FAILURE ON MY EXPEDITION THAT WAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE F150.
THREE TIMES THE VEHICLE HAS GONE INTO "LIMP MODE" WITH THE WRENCH LIGHT BEING DISPLAYED ON THE DASH. I HAVE GONE TO THE DEALERSHIP EACH TIME AND NO FAILURE CODE IS COMING UP. THEY WILL NOT FIX THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE FAILURE CODE BEING DISPLAYED AND RECOMMENDED TOWING THE VEHICLE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS. I HAVE FEAR OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY.
MY CAR WAS LEFT IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AND AC ON FOR 30 MIN DUE TO HAVING GROCERIES IN THE CAR. MY CAR CAUGHT FIRE AND COMPLETELY BURNED UP. THERE WAS NOTHING FLAMMABLE IN MY CAR OTHER THAN THE 1/4 TANK OF GAS I HAD LEFT. FIRE CHIEF SAID THE FIRE APPEARED TO START IN THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A DRIVEWAY. *TR
IN 2015 WHILE LIVING IN NORTH DAKOTA I PURCHASED A 2015 FORD EXPEDITION EL. IN 2018 I MOVED TO FLORIDA AND HAD NEW TIRES INSTALLED IN 2019. NOW, 5,000 MILES LATER I AM TOLD THE LUG NUTS ARE SWOLLEN AND MY TIRES CANNOT BE ROTATED, I NEED TO BUY NEW LUG NUTS. I WAS SHOCKED AND NEVER HEARD OF THIS, I STOPPED IN THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THIS IS TRUE, FORD DECIDED TO PUT THESE TWO PIECE LUG NUTS ON NEW VEHICLES, "WE HAVE SEEN THIS A LOT". I ASK IF THERE WAS A RECALL AND WAS TOLD "I WISH". THE DEALERSHIP SUGGESTED I SHOP AT AN AUTO PARTS STORE BECAUSE "OURS ARE PRETTY PRICEY AT $8 A PIECE, IT WILL BE COSTLY IF YOU NEED TO REPLACE LUG NUTS ON ALL 4 WHEELS". I CALLED FORD CORPORATE IN DETROIT AND WAS TRANSFERRED TO A CALL CENTER IN THE PHILIPPINES WERE THE FEMALE COULD ONLY READ FROM A SCRIPT STATING "THIS PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURES WARRANTY."
THE DAY AFTER WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED HAD 78,000 MILES ON IT WE WERE DRIVING ON A 4 LANE ROAD ABOUT 60MPH WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT PUT ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL. THE GAS PEDDLE WOULD NOT ENGAGE. AFTER WE TURN IT OFF AND ON A COUPLE TIMES WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST THREE TIMES SINCE WE HAVE OWNED IT. WE BOUGHT IT 4 MONTHS AGO. ON THREE OTHER OCCASIONS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE RETURNING HOME FROM A 3 HOUR DRIVE ON A HIGHWAY GOING 60MPH DOWN A HILL AND IT WAS UNDER POWERED BUT STILL DRIVABLE. WE HAD ONE TURBO REPLACED HOWEVER THE LIGHT HAS COME ON AGAIN BUT THE DEALER COULDN'T FIX IT BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CLEARED AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. LAST WEEK WE WERE DRIVING IN TOWN THANKFULLY UNDER 30MPH AND THE BREAK PEDDLE GOT HARD AND COULDN'T BE PRESSED DOWN. A LIGHT CAME ON THAT SAID BREAK FAILURE WE HAD TO ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BREAK TO STOP. WE HAD IT TOWED NO LIGHTS WERE ON WHEN IT GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY PUT 30 MILES ON IT TRYING TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND COULDN'T GET IT TO DO IT AGAIN. THIS VEHICLE IS VERY UNSAFE IT'S A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT EITHER SHUTS DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY OR THE BREAKS WON'T WORK AND CRASHES INTO SOMETHING OR SOMEONE. WE HAVE A VEHICLE NOW THAT WE CANNOT DRIVE AND CANNOT FIX AND IF WE TRADE IT IN WE WILL BE OUT A LOT OF MONEY AND THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE WILL BE PUT BACK ON THE LOT.
I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, IN A STEADY-STATE IN MILD TRAFFIC, WHEN THE WRENCH ICON IN THE LEFT-SIDE OF THE DASHBOARD LIT UP MOMENTARILY AND THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT WAS UNRESPONSIVE. I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP, TURN IT OFF THEN RE-START THE VEHICLE. IT DID SO AGAIN UPON DRIVING IT ON MONDAY AUG 19. FORD WAS CONTACTED AND DENIED THE ISSUE, EVEN THOUGH THIS EXACTLY MIMICS THE REASON FOR THE RECALL ON 2015 FORD FLEXES/LINCOLN MKTS, ETC. WITH THE SAME POWERTRAIN!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS CORROSION ON THE LIFTGATE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MALLOY FORD OF WINCHESTER (1911 VALLEY AVE, WINCHESTER, VA 22601, (540) 667-4434) TO GET THE CORROSION TREATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD TAKE PICTURES AND SEND THEM TO THE MANUFACTURER FOR REPAIR APPROVAL. THE CONTACT HAD TO TAKE HER VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOUR SEPARATE TIMES BECAUSE THE PICTURES WOULD GET LOST DUE TO STAFF TURNOVER. THE MANUFACTURER FINALLY REJECTED THE CONTACT'S CLAIM TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED FOR FREE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000. *BF
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND HIS WIFE NOTICED SMOKE WAS COMING FROM BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE BURST INTO FLAMES AND BURNED TO THE FRAME. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND FILED A REPORT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE AND CALLED COOK COUNTY FORD DEALER, (LOCATED AT 1000 S HUTCHINSON AVE, ADEL, GA 31620, (229) 896-7411) TO GET INSURANCE INFORMATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AS IT WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING AND A WRENCH FLASHED ON THE DASHBOARD. I COULD NOT SPEED UP. I HAD TO FIND AN EXIT RIGHT AWAY. WAS RIDING WITH A CLOSE FRIEND ALL 5 OF MY CHILDREN. VERY VERY SCARY
VEHICLE WAS PUT IN PARK. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES THE VEHICLE ROLLED INTO A HOME WHILE STILL IN PARK.
ON TODAY'S DATE, APRIL 9, 2019 AT APPROXIMATELY 4:20PM CDT, I WAS ENTERING FREEWAY ACCELERATING TO 40 MPH WHEN POWER WAS LOST AND QUICKLY DECELERATED TO UNDER 5MPH. ENGINE STILL RUNNING, BUT IT WENT INTO 'LIMP HOME' MODE, NO FASTER THAN 5MPH. WAS ABLE TO GET TO DISTRESS LANE. WRENCH SYMBOL DISPLAYED ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. TURNED OFF ENGINE AND CHECKED OWNERS MANUAL...SYMBOL INDICATED POWER TRAIN TROUBLE. TURNED ON STARTED OK, AND CONTINUED TO FREEWAY SPEED. ABOUT 1 MILE LATER, LOST POWER AGAIN, SLOWING TO 'LIMP' MODE. THIS TIME CHECK ENGINE AND WRENCH LIGHTS CAME ON AND ENGINE NOTICEABLY ROUGH RUNNING. TURNED OFF/ON STARTED OK, EXITED FREEWAY AND DROVE CITY STREETS HOME, ABOUT 3 MILES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER WENT OFF. WRENCH LIGHT DID GO OFF AFTER 2ND RE-START. MANUAL RECOMMENDS HAVING FORD DEALER CHECK IT OUT. THAT'S WHAT I'LL BE DOING TOMORROW. THIS SPONTANEOUS LOSS OF POWER HAS RISK OF CAUSING A CRASH FROM OTHER DRIVER'S AS SUDDEN DECELERATIONS WITHOUT BRAKE LIGHT WARNING IS VERY DANGEROUS.
THE CAR HORN DOES NOT WORK WHETHER THE CAR IS IN MOTION OR STOPPED. I FEEL THIS IS A GREAT SAFETY HAZARD FOR ME AND OTHER DRIVERS OUT ON THE ROAD.
TRANSMISSION WILL SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFT TO LOWER GEAR, FIRST TIME 6TH GEAR TO 3RD GEAR, SECOND TIME LAST WEEK WENT FROM 3RD TO 1ST, LUCKILY WAS DRIVING SLOW IN CONSTRUCTION ZONE BY OUR HOUSE.
ENGINE STALLS OUT AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AND PRODUCES A P2112 CODE THROTTLE BODY STUCK CLOSED. ENGINE CUTS OUT COMPLETELY. HAS HAPPENED FIVE TIMES. MILEAGE 55234 ONLY. ENGINE RESTARTS NORMALLY UNTIL NEXT INCIDENT. CAR PRODUCED AT LOUISVILLE KENTUCKY TRUCK PLANT WHICH PRODUCED THE DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODIES INCLUDED IN THE FORD RECALL CAMPAIGN 16B32.
BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING THEN NO BRAKES! UNLESS YOU PUSH THE PEDAL REAL HARD THEN IT MAKES A GRINDING SOUND! WHEN YOU STOP VEHICLE STOP THE ENGINE AND LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES, THEN START IT, THE BRAKE LIGHT STAYS OFF AND EVERYTHING WORKS FINE AGAIN! THIS HAPPENED TWICE! THE FIRST TIME WAS MARCH 2018 WE THEN TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY CHARGED TO INSTALL NEW BOOSTER AND SOME OTHER DEVICE. TODAY JAN 4TH 2019 THE SAME THING HAPPENED!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 FORD EXPEDITION. AFTER PARKING AND EXITING THE VEHICLE, A FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD NEAR THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FIRE SPREAD TO THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES, BUT HAD NOT DETERMINED WHAT HAD CAUSED THE FIRE. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TOWED THE VEHICLE TO A YARD AND THEN THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOWED THE VEHICLE TO A FACILITY FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. LANDERS FORD (19501 I-30, BENTON, AR 72015, 1-(501) 315-4700) WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER ON NOVEMBER 2, 2018 AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEIR OFFICE OF COUNCIL WOULD RESPOND BACK WITHIN FIFTEEN BUSINESS DAYS TO INVESTIGATE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING ON THEIR RESPONSE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. *TT*JB
WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY THE ENGINE GOES INTO LIMP MODE 3MPH MAX. DISPLAYS WRENCH SYMBOL ON INSTRUMENTATION PANEL.. NO POSSIBLE ACCELERATION POSSIBLE.. VERY DANGEROUS IF YOU WERE ENTERING AN INTERSECTION ON HIGHWAY. I COULD SEE POSSIBLE FATALITIES. IF YOU SHUT OFF ENGINE AND RESTART WILL RUN AS NORMAL FOR ABOUT A MILE THAN SAME SCENARIO. RAN CODE SHOWED "P2112" FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. IF YOU WERE CROSSING A HIGHWAY I COULD SEE GETTING T-BONED . PLEASE EDUCATE OWNERS TO SAVE LIVES.9.12.18
55,000 MILES. ORANGE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT CAME ON DRIVING THROUGH TOWN ABOUT 25 MPH. LOST POWER AND COASTED ACROSS THE RAIL ROAD TRACKS IN TOWN. VEHICLE WAS STILL RUNNING, HOWEVER HAD NO POWER AND MINIMAL IDLE SPEED. I GOT PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. DIAGNOSTIC SAID TO CHECK MANUAL. I TRIED TO DO THAT AND THE VEHICLE WASN'T IDLING THE BEST, SO I SHUT IT OFF. I WAS AT A BUSY INTERSECTION AND WAS ON MY WAY TO PICK UP MY DAUGHTER FROM HER FIRST DAY AT DAYCARE, SO IN A LITTLE DISARRAY. I TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON AND REGAINED FULL FUNCTIONALITY. THE NEXT DAY IT REPLICATED THE ERROR TWICE IN ABOUT A 4 MILE STRETCH. I GOT IT SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THEN DIRECTLY OVER TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY HAVE HAD IT FOR 8 DAYS AND CAN'T REPLICATE THE ERROR.
WHILE TRAVELING IN THE PASSING (3RD) LEFT LANE ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WITH SPEEDS OF 65 TO 70 MPH, THE VEHICAL TOTALLY LOSS POWER, MOTOR STILL RUNNING BUT JUST AT AN UNEVEN POOR IDLE, STILL IN GEAR, I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE, IT DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING YET THE MOTOR WAS STILL AT THE POOR IDLE. ON THE DASH COMUPTER A WRENCH APPEARED WITH "SEE MANUAL" ALONG WITH A SMALL CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ABOVE THAT. I WAS FORCED TO GET OUT OF THAT DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH NO POWER, COASTING THROUGH 3 LANES WITH MY WIFE WAVING OUT THE PASSENGER WINDOW TO LET MY POWERLESS CAR DRIFT OVER. ONCE OFF THE HIGHWAY, THE MOTOR WAS STILL POORLY IDLING, GIVING IT GAS DID NOTHING, STILL JUST A ROUGH IDLE. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND MIRACULOUSLY I ONCE AGAIN HAD CONTROL OF THE ACCELERATOR. I WAS STILL 3 HOURS FROM HOME WITH ALL HIGHWAY DRIVING AHEAD OF ME, WHICH I DID DOING 55MPH IN THE SLOW LANE & READY TO TURN OFF ROAD. I BOUGHT A NEW VEHICLE AS TO NOT HAVE PROBLEMS, LET ALONE THE MOST DANGEROUS EPISODE OF OUR LIVES. WHAT REALLY IS UNACCEPTABLE IS THAT I JUST HAD A 70K MILE CHECKUP AT A LOCAL FORD DEALER WHERE I WAS TOLD THEY RECCOMEND CHANGING MY TRANSFER CASE OIL ALONG WITH AN OIL CHANGE & TIRE ROTATION. I WAS GIVEN A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH FOR A ROAD TRIP. I REFUSE TO PAY ANYTHING FOR A FLAW IN THEIR DESIGN, ESPECIALLY BEING A DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE.
BAD THROTTLE BODY AND GASKET. GOING 75 ON A HWY IN AZ AND THE WRENCH SYMBOL POPS UP AND THE GAS PEDAL NO LONGER WORKS! LUCKILY WE WERE ABLE TO MANEUVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HWY SAFELY. RESTARTED IT AND IT WAS LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ANYTHING. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 12 TIMES BEFORE WE WERE ABLE TO CONNECT A COMPUTER TO IT AND GET CODE P2112 THROTTLE ACTUAUTER CONTROL SYSTEM STUCK CLOSED. IT DIDN'T MATTER WHAT SPEED WE WERE GOING IT WOULD JUST ALL OF SUDDEN GET STUCK AND THE THROTTLE WOULD NO LONGER WORK. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO!
WELL KNOWN THROTTLE BODY ISSUE ACROSS THE FORD LINE. NOT COVERED UNDER LIFETIME WARRANTY. SUDDEN DECELERATION AND STOPPAGE DUE TO ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILURE.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON WITH A MESSAGE TO SEE OWNER'S MANUAL. VEHICLE WENT INTO "LIMP MODE" AND I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE COULD ONLY COAST. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO THE SHOULDER WHILE COASTING. ONCE ON THE SHOULDER, STOPPED AND VEHICLE IDLED ROUGH SO SHUT IT OFF. I THEN RESTARTED AND THE ISSUE WENT AWAY AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT COULD HAVE BEEN A FLUKE WITH THE COMPUTER AND TO BRING IT IN IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. IT HAPPENED AGAIN THE NEXT DAY SO WE TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAILED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY UNDER CODE P2112 WHICH IS SIMILAR TO THE ISSUE FORD HAS HAD FOR SEVERAL YEARS. I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT FORD DID NOT INCLUDE THE EXPEDITION IN THE RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. IT APPEARS THEIR RECALL DID NOT COVER ALL VEHICLES IMPACTED BY THIS ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH SUDDEN POWER LOSS. SPEED WENT FROM 50 MPH TO 2 MPH. VEHICLE DRIFTED TO A STOP DESPITE PRESSING GAS. AFTER WAITING BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WAS ABLE TO GET VEHICLE MOVING AT APPROX. 4 MPH. FRIEND RESPONDING SUGGESTED TURNING ENGINE OFF AND ON AGAIN. THAT WORKED, POWER RESTORED AND ABLE TO GET HOME. DEALER REPLACED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY THAT HAD MALFUNCTIONED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE GEAR SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND THE VEHICLE REVERSED OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AND DOWN A HILL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP ONCE IT STRUCK A BUILDING. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,096. *TT
WHILE IDLING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE ENGINE OF MY 2015 FORD EXPEDITION BEGAN TO LABOR, EVIDENCED BY LOW AND HESITATING RPM AND REDUCED FAN SPEED OF THE AIR-CONDITIONER. ISSUE WAS RESOLVED WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS SHUT OFF, BUT HAS REAPPEARED SEVERAL TIMES AS A RESULT OF TURNING ON THE AIR CONDITIONER. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH OTHER RECENT MODEL FORD EXPLORER AND EXPEDITION OWNERS WHO HAVE REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRING IN THEIR VEHICLES. THIS POSES A DANGER TO THE PUBLIC AS THE CAR'S ENGINE HESITATES AND NEARLY STALLS REDUCING REQUIRED ON-DEMAND POWER AND ACCELERATION. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE STATIONARY AND IDLING AND ALSO WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS (0 - 55 MPH) ON BOTH CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. WAS SURE I'D FIND A RECALL RELATED TO THIS ISSUE (MOST LIKELY A VEHICLE COMPUTER ISSUE) ON THIS SITE, BUT NO ACTIVE RECALLS FOR 2015 FORD EXPEDITIONS EXIST.
IN THE PAST WEEK, ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, MY 2015 FORD EXPEDITION HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING. FIRST INSTANCE, WHILE DRIVING APPROX. 45MPH ON SMALL COUNTRY ROAD AND ACCELERATING, VEHICLE STALLED AND CAME TO A ROLLING STOP, WITH SERVICE INDICATOR LIGHT AND "SEE MANUAL" ILLUMINATED ON DASHBOARD. ONCE STOPPED AND SHIFTED INTO PARK, VEHICLE STARTED AND DROVE AGAIN NORMALLY. SECOND INSTANCE (APPROX. 2 DAYS LATER), WHILE ENTERING INTERSTATE FROM ON RAMP, APPROX. 45MPH AND ACCELERATING, VEHICLE STALLED. LUCKILY, WE WERE ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER PRIOR TO COMING TO COMPLETE STOP. ONCE SHIFTED INTO PARK, VEHICLE STARTED AND DROVE AGAIN NORMALLY. FORD SERVICE TOLD US THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE THROTTLE BODY, AND WILL COST NEARLY $700 TO REPLACE. I'VE DONE SOME ONLINE RESEARCH OVER THE PAST 24 HOURS, THE THROTTLE BODY SEEMS TO BE ONE OF, IF NOT THE MOST COMMON COMPLAINTS BY 2015 EXPEDITION OWNERS. IF THIS HAPPENED DURING RUSH HOUR ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE, PEOPLE COULD GET KILLED. PLEASE INVESTIGATE.
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON A HIGHWAY. HEAVY FRONT END DAMAGE. NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIRBAGS. WAS ADVISED ON THIS MODEL AIRBAGS SENSORS WERE PLACED LOWER THAN ON CURRENT MODELS. I AM CONCERNED THAT THEY DID NOT DEPLOY.
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ETB, DEPHI 6. THE CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN DROPS THE SPEED TO AN IDLE, PRODUCES A WARNING WRENCH ON DASH (P2112 OR 2111 CODE) THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER AND BARLEY MOVES. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 3 TIMES WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY IN CAR. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. LUCKILY I WAS NOT TOWING MY TRAILER AT THE TIME. THIS HAPPENED ON A ROAD TRIP AND IT WAS FIX UNDER FORDS COMPREHENSIVE CPO WARRANTY AT ABOUT 44K MILES (11-2016) . NOW THE VEHICLE IS ONLY UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AT 64K MILES AND THE ETB FAILED WHILE I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. UNLIKE THE FIRST INCIDENT I WAS CLOSE TO HOME AND I HAVE PARKED THE TRUCK UNTIL MY APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER (1 WEEK AWAY). WE LIVE IN A MOUNTAIN AREA WITH SINGLE LANE MOUNTAIN ROADS WHERE THERE WOULD NOT BE AN OPPORTUNITY TO PULL OFF ON TO SNOW BANKED ROADS. DEALER HAS NOT SAID IF THEY WOULD COVER THIS AGAIN SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL. FORD HAS ONLY GIVEN SOME OF THEIR VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ETB AND PCM'S INSTALLED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT DO PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE TO GET A TRUE REPAIRED ITEM OR RECALL?
VEHICLE IN MOTION ON FREEWAY AT SPEED (70MPH APPROX.) AND SUDDENLY LOST POWER W/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (ORANGE WRENCH) COMING ON. VEHICLE HAD NO POWER/ACCELERATION AND SEEMED TO ONLY IDLE. WAS ABLE TO COAST TO RIGHT SHOULDER. SHUT ENGINE OFF AND WAITED FOR A FEW MOMENTS AND TURNED BACK ON, STARTED UP, AND APPEARED TO WORK NORMALLY, ALLOWING US TO CONTINUE ON TO DESTINATION.
2015 EXPEDITION WENT INTO ' LIMP MODE' NO THROTTLE RESPONSE WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. RUNS AND STARTS FINE POSSIBLE ETB
ENGINE GOES INTO LIMP MODE NO PROBLEM RESPONSE NO POWER CANNOT MOVE OUT OF ITS WAY VERY DANGEROUS HAPPENED TO ME WAS PULLING OUT INTO MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION VEHICLE JUST COASTED. WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON HAD TO COAST OUT OF THE WAY SHUT VEHICLE OFF RESTARTED IT WAS FINE THIS IS HAPPENED TO ME FOUR TIMES TOOK THE DEALER NOT WARRANTABLE
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR KIDS HOME ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE. SHE WAS SCARED AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. WE BROUGHT IT TO THE FORD STORE AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY.
AT ABOUT 56000 MILES, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT ABOUT 55 MPH, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TRUCK WENT INTO, WHAT I NOW KNOW AS, CRAWL HOME MODE. I HAD TO DRIFT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE TRUCK. ABOUT A WEEK LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED. TO IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IS WAS PURCHASED AND WAS TOLD THAT IT IS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. I WAS TOLD THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY AND WOULD BE CLOSE TO $500.00 TO REPAIR. AFTER DOING SOME SEARCHES ONLINE I FOUND THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH THOUSANDS OF LATE MODEL FORDS, SOME OF WHICH FORD AGREED TO REPAIR AND OFFER A LONGER WARRANTY.
DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY CONTROL SYSTEMS THAT CAUSE THE VEHICLES TO SUDDENLY AND DANGEROUSLY LOSE POWER. WHILE TRAVELING 70MPH ON HIGHWAY, MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER, (ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED ON DASH).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THERE WERE ABNORMAL FUMES INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LOVELAND FORD (999 E. EISENHOWER BLVD, LOVELAND, CO 80537) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE UNDERCOATING AND MUFFLER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
DRIVING ON A CITY STREET ABOUT TO GET ONTO A HIGHWAY CAR STARTED TO STUMBLE THEN DIED OUT. WE GOT IT STARTED BACK UP BUT NO THROTTLE. HAD IT TOWED BACK HOME. I HOOKED UP AN OBD2 CODE READER AND THE CODES WERE P2112 AND P2111 ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. I FOUND SOME INFO ONLINE LIKE A RECALIBRATION TEST ( KEY ON, PRESS PEDAL DOWN SLOWLY THEN RELEASE SLOWLY, THEN TURN KEY OFF). STARTED BACK UP LIKE THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. THIS CAR HAS 38,000 MILES THIS SEAMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE, IF WE WERE TO TURN IN FRONT OF SOMEONE AND IT DIED OUT WE COULD OF GOT HIT!!! I WILL BE TAKING IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE FIXED, CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY
DRIVING VEHICLE ON STREET, WHEN HIT 40 MPH, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CHECK MANUAL WRENCH. VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND LOSS OF POWER. CONTINUED TO IDLE. WAS ABLE TO PULL OUT OF TRAFFIC. TRIED TO TURN VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN PUT INTO DRIVE. GOT IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. TOLD THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY STUCK IN CLOSED POSITION- 2015 FORD EXPEDITION, 52000 MILES.
TAKATA RECALL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY SEVERE FRONT END COLLISION TOTALED
IT STATRED OUT THE CAR LOST POWER AN WENT 5MLS AN HOUR. I THUGAHT THE TRAINNY HAD GONE BUT TURNED OUT NO!! I CALLED THE DEALER I GOT IT FROM SAID HE WAS SURE IT WAS THE THROATLE BODY AS IT WAS STILL MOVEING. TOLD ME TO TURN IT ON AN OFF TRI TO RESET IT AN SO I DID AN YES IT DID THE 1ST TIME BUT AFTER THAT IT TOOK OFF GOING 80 REFUSED TO STOP I HAD TO LITTERLY PUSH ALL BRAKES ON AN PULL THE KEY TO GET IT TO STOP.. WHEN I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY THE LADY 1ST GOT WAS POLIT TOOK THE INFO BUT PHONE DIS COUNCTED THE NEXT WOME I GOT WAS RUD AN UGLY SAID THIS WAS MY OWN PROBLY DISPIT THIS BEING A 2015 AN ONLY HAVEINE THE VEHCLE LESS THEN 6MONTHS.. IM VERY DISPOINTED IN FORD IF MY KIDS AN I HAD BEEN HURT WOW
FILED COMPLAINT FEW MONTHS BACK, 10985979. SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. STARTED TO HAPPEN AGAIN, THIS TIME IT HAPPENED AROUND 15 TIMES IN A 200 MILE PERIOD. HAPPENED DURING ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS, CITY AND HIGHWAY, FROM A STOP TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS. NO WARRING JUST FULL LOSS OF POWER. SHUT TRUCK OFF, RESTARTED AND RAN NORMALLY FOR 6-10 MILES THEN WOULD SHUT DOWN AGAIN. AFTER THE 3RD TIME A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DROVE TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER. THEY ENDED UP CHANGING THE THROTTLE BODY ASSY DUE TO A FAILURE OF A INTERNAL COMPONENT.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A STEEP GRADE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO JERK AND SHAKE, THE WRENCH SYMBOL POPPED UP AS WELL AS A WARNING SEE OWNERS MANUAL. AS I SAFELY GOT OFF THE ROAD I HAD WAITED FOR CARS TO PASS BY BEFORE I TRIED TO RE EMERGE ONTO THE ROAD AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO A FULL PRESS OF THE GAS PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY GO APPROX. 1 MILE HR. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAS ABOUT TO CALL A TOW TRUCK AND I DECIDED TO TURN THE VEHICLE BACK ON AND I PUT IT IN DRIVE AND IT LET ME DRIVE WITH NO ISSUES. AFTER MY INCIDENT I WENT HOME TO GOOGLE THE SYMPTOMS IT APPEARED TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD VEHICLES. HOW EVER UNDER THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM MY VEHICLE WAS NOT LISTED BUT YET HAS THE SAME ISSUES. I WOULD LIKE TO START AN INVESTIGATION IN THIS MATTER AS SAME OTHER CONSUMERS MIGHT NOT BE AS SKILLFULLY OF A DRIVER AS MYSELF AND POSSIBLY CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH OVER THIS ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED WITH SUNROOF AND ALL WINDOWS CLOSED, HEARD A LOUD BANG OVERHEAD AS SUNROOF EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE OUT WITH A LARGE PORTION OF THE SUNROOF MISSING. NOT CLOSE TO OTHER VEHICLES AT THIS TIME AND NO EVIDENCE OF DAMAGE ON ROOFTOP TOP TO INDICATE ANY OBJECT AS THE CAUSE.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (70 MPH), WENT TO PASS TRAFFIC, TRUCK DOWNSHIFTED, SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AND TRUCK LOST ALL POWER. TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN 4TH GEAR AND ENGINE WOULD NOT REV ABOVE IDLE. PULLED OVER AND SHUT OFF TRUCK. RESTARTED AND EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. A FEW DAYS LATER SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN, THIS TIME WAS ON A CITY STREET (20MPH) AND TRANS WAS STUCK IN 3RD GEAR.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2015 FORD EXPEDITION HOME FROM WORK, MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ALL GAS POWER TO THE VEHICLE. MY STEERING STILL WORKED AND POWER WAS STILL ON BUT I HAD NO GAS. I PULLED OVER, TURNED MY ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED AND COULD GO AGAIN. IT TOOK 6 TIMES TO RESTART TO GET 2 MILES TO SAFE POINT. WHERE I THEN HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP. TURNS OUT IT WAS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. WHICH IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR THE FORD ENGINE, THE NHTSA HAD ENOUGH COMPLAINTS THAT FORD ISSUED A MANDATORY EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR 4 OTHER TYPE FORD VEHICLES BUT NOT THE EXPEDITION, WHICH HAS THE SAME TYPE OF ENGINE. I HAD TO PAY $560.00 TO HAVE THIS PART REPLACED ON MY VEHICLE WHEN IT'S A KNOWN FORD ISSUE. MY VEHICLE HAD 50,700 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME OF THE OCCURRENCE. I HOPE THAT THE NHTSA WILL LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE AND HAVE FORD EXPAND THEIR MAKE AND MODEL WARRANTY AS WELL AS REIMBURSE ME FOR MY EXPENSES FOR THIS REPLACEMENT.
VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET. NO WARNING PRIOR TO LOSING POWER. HAD A "WRENCH" LIGHT APPEAR ON DASH. I HAD TO COAST TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. HAD I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY, MERGING, OR TURNING IN FRONT OF APPROACHING VEHICLES, THERE IS A HIGH PROBABILITY THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. I ATTACHED A TESTER ON THE VEHICLE AND P2112 DEFECT CODE APPEARED INDICATING A STUCK THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL. THIS VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 60,000 MILES AND WAS JUST IN FOR A MAJOR MILESTONE VEHICLE INSPECTION.
1/28/17 DRIVING 65 MPH ON A FLORIDA HIGHWAY (NOT ON CRUISE CONTROL) THE THROTTLE/GAS PEDDLE SENSOR (THROTTLE BODY) SHUTS OFF THE GAS TO THE ENGINE AND THE CAR SLOWS TO A STOP. THIS IS IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. WE MANAGE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON AND THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARS FOR ANOTHER 50 MILES WE DRIVE THE CAR TO A FORD DEALER AND THEY REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY FOR $500. I AM . OUT OF WARRANTY = OVER 36,000 MILES I TELL MY STORY TO 2 ST LOUIS FRIENDS, ALSO OWN FORDS (2006 EXPLORER, 2008 EDGE) AND THEY SAY THAT THEY HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE AND NECESSARY REPAIR. I JUST NOTIFIED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE 800-392-3673 AND THEY SAY THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE A RECALL OR ISSUE WITH THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND HAS BEEN IGNORED BY FORD FOR YEARS. I ALSO OWNED A TOYOTA DURING THEIR SUDDEN ACCELERATION PROBLEM A FEW YEARS AGO AND THIS SEEMS WORSE
OUR 2015 FORD EXPEDITION WITH 20,000 MILES IN CALIFORNIA HAS ALUMINUM BODY CORROSION ON THE FRONT HOOD AND REAR TAILGATE DOOR. FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS "IRON CONTAMINATION" PROBLEM SINCE THE YEAR 2000 AND HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT, DOCUMENTED IN THREE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS 2004 TSB 04-25-1, 2006 TSB 06-25-15 AND 2016 TSB 16-0028. DEALERSHIPS ARE AWARE, BUT DO NOT DISCLOSE THE FACTORY DEFECT PRIOR TO SALE AND IS "NOT" COVERED UNDER THE CORROSION WARRANTY.
2015 FORD EXPEDITION WITH 20,000 MILES HAS GALVANIC CORROSION ON ALUMINUM HOOD AND ALUMINUM REAR HATCH DOOR AND ROOF WELD CRACKS. FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE THE YEAR 2000 NOTED IN TSB 16-0028. DEALERS ARE AWARE, BUT DO NOT DISCLOSE MANUFACTURING DEFECT PRIOR TO SALE, WHICH IS FRAUD. NOT PROPERLY SEPARATING THE OUTER ALUMINUM FROM THE STEEL INSIDE CAUSES EXTREME CORROSION. THIS LEADS TO HOOD AND DOOR LATCH METAL FAILING WITH HOODS OR DOORS OPENING DURING DRIVING CAUSING ACCIDENTS OR DEATH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
STARTED TO NOTICE VIOLENT SHAKING IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS. THE 2015 EXPEDITION 4WD HAS 19,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. AT VERY LOW SPEEDS THERE IS THE SAME SHAKING OF THE FRONT BRAKES---BUT MUCH LESS NOTICEABLE APPARENTLY DUE TO THE LOW SPEED. TRYING TO SCHEDULE WARRANTY INSPECTION AT LOCAL FORD DEALER.
I WAS INVOLVED IN A MAJOR FRONT END COLLISION YESTERDAY THAT IS MOST LIKELY RESULTING IN TOTALING MY BRAND NEW CAR. MY ENTIRE FRONT END IS DEMOLISHED AND FRAME WAS DEFINITELY EFFECTED AS CAR DOORS COULDN'T EVEN BE OPENED. WITH ALL THAT SAID MY AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY, THE SAFETY FEATURE THAT IS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT MY FAMILY AND I GOD FORBID WE GET IN AN ACCIDENT WHICH WE DID AND I WANT TO KNOW WHY! I CONTACTED FORD LAST NIGHT AND THEY REFERRED MY TO MY DEALERSHIP AND WHEN I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME THEY DON'T MAKE THE CARS! I JUST WANT ANSWERS.
THE THROTTLE BODY HAD A COMPLETE FAILURE AT AN INTERSECTION, RESULTING IN THE INABILITY TO MOVE FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WENT INTO SHUTDOWN MODE AND EVENTUALLY LOCKED THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK. A FAILURE LIKE THIS AT SPEED, OR OTHERWISE, PRESENTS THE POSSIBILITY FOR VEHICLE CRASHES AND INJURIES.
TOTAL LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING - MUST PULL OVER AND RESTART

I WAS SITTING IN A WAL-MART PARKING LOT WITHOUT THE CAR RUNNING. THE TEMPERATURE WAS APPROX 35-40 DEGREES WITH LIGHT RAIN/SNOW. WHILE SITTING THERE I HEARD A REALLY LOUD POP. AFTER LOOKING OUTSIDE AND AROUND THE VEHICLE TO SEE WHAT WAS OVERHEAD (NOTHING), I NOTICED THAT THE MOONROOF HAD SHATTER AND MADE THE BACK PART OF THE GLASS BUBBLE UPWARD TOWARD THE SKY WITH A SMALL HOLE AND THE ENTIRE GLASS SHATTERED. OF COURSE I HAD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME (APPROX 22 MILES) AND THEN TO THE DEALER (ANOTHER 25 MILES). AT THIS POINT MOST OF THE GLASS FELL INTO THE MOONROOF SLIDE COVER AND THUS DID NOT SHOW THE BUBBLE IN THE GLASS. FORD WILL NOT COVER STATING IT WAS BROKE BY FORCE. WE HAVE OWNED THE CAR LESS THAN TWO MONTHS (PURCHASED ON 8/22/15 - DAY BROKE 10/18/15) AND THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 3,700 MILES ON IT. ALL PICTURES TAKEN WERE DONE BY THE DEALER.
01 JUNE 2015 DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 10 FROM BEAUMONT TEXAS I ENTERED A HEAVY RAIN STORM, TRAFFIC SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 50 M.P.H. IN A 70 M.P.H. SPEED ZONE. I PASSED A TRACTOR TRAILER, WHEN THE MIST FROM THE TRUCK AND THE RAIN HIT MY VEHICLE, MY ENGINE LOST POWER. I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE GAS, AFTER A FEW HUNDRED YARDS THE POWER CAME BACK BUT MY ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THE PROBLEM HAPPENED 4 OR 5 TIMES THRU LOUISIANA AND INTO FLORIDA.I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER PALM BAY FORD WITH 3,000 MILE SINCE NEW THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO I WAS TOLD THERE WASN'T A PROBLEM. 17 SEPT. 2015 WITH 12826 MILES I RETURNED TO PALM BAY FORD AGAIN, AFTER RETURNING FROM WEST VIRGINA IN ANOTHER HEAVY RAIN STORM THE SAME THING HAPPENED, THE ENGINE LOST POWER I WAS TOLD THE SAME THING THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM SO NO PROBLEM EXIST. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
FRONT SEAT BACK COOLING SYSTEM (TED) IS MALFUNCTIONING. WHEN SEAT COOLING IS SELECTED, AFTER 30 MINUETS, THE BACK OF THE FRONT SEATS REACH EXTREME TEMPERATURES, RESULTING IN BURNING EVERYONE THAT TOUCHES THE BACK OF THE FRONT SEATS. I'VE MEASURE THE TEMPERATURES, AT THE TOP OF THE MAP POCKET, AT OVER 115 DEGREES, WHEN AMBIENT TEMPERATURES WERE AT 75 DEGREES. WHEN AMBIENT TEMPERATURES RISE ABOVE 90 DEGREES, THE FRONT SEAT BACK TEMPERATURE CAN REACH UP TO 150 DEGREES OR MORE! PLEASE REFERENCE F150 OWNERS COMMENTS AND THERMAL PICTURES PROVING THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP, AT THE WEB ADDRESS: HTTP://WWW.F150FORUM.COM/F118/COOLIN...OPERLY-304154/
I WAS NOT ABLE TO OPEN THE REAR LIFT GATE, THE WINDOW DID WORK FINE. THIS WOULD HAPPEN EVERY NOW AND THEN NON PREDICTABLE.. THE DEALER REPLACED THE LATCH AND WAS AMAZED THE ELECTRIC KEY FOB DID NOT WORK OF THE MANUAL LIFT GATE. THERE IS NO EMERGENCY OVERRIDE!!!! IF SOME WAS IN THE 3RD ROAD SEAT, AND SOMETHING HAPPENED THEY COULD NOT GET OUT. AUGUST 1, 2015 I WENT TO THE VET WITH MY DOG IN HER KENNEL IN THE BACK. OUTSIDE AIR TEMP WAS 93 DEGREES. I COULD NOT OPEN THE BACK HATCH TO GET MY DOG OUT. I HAD TO LOWER ALL THE MIDDLE SEATS, OPEN HER KENNEL, AND "CONVINCE " HER TO COME OUT AND WALK AROUND . I HAD TO LIFT HER UP AND PUT HER ON THE GROUND. BEING HANDICAPPED THIS WAS NOT FUN.. OF COURSE AFTER THE VETS VISIT, THE DARN THING WORKED IT IS DANGERSOUS!!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR LIFT GATE FAILED TO OPEN PROPERLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS A RECURRING FAILURE. 2015 FORD EXPEDITION EL LIMITED NOTED TO HAVE WHISTLING/WHINING NOISE WITH ACCELERATION. EVALUATED BY A FORD DEALER. FOUND TO HAVE DEFECTIVE SEAL ON REAR AXLE WITH LOSS OF LUBRICATING FLUID AND DAMAGE TO THE DIFFERENTIAL. THIS WAS NEAR MISS; NO ACCIDENT/INJURY OCCURRED. GIVEN THAT THIS PART FAILED ON A BRAND NEW VEHICLE (LESS THAN ONE MONTH OLD) AND DEALER IS UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR 3-6 WEEKS DUE TO UNAVAILABILITY OF REPLACEMENT PARTS, I AM CONCERNED THAT FORD KNOWS THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS PART BUT HAS CHOSEN NOT TO SHARE THAT INFORMATION.
THE DRIVER'S HEADREST (AND FRONT PASSENGER HEADREST) IS SET AT SUCH A FORWARD ANGLE THAT MY HEAD IS PUSHED FORWARD, CAUSING PAIN IN MY NECK. AFTER TALKING WITH AN ORTHOPEDIC ABOUT THE PROBABLY LONGTERM ISSUES WITH PRESSURE ON MY HEAD CAUSED BY THE HEADREST, I WAS ASSURED OF CREATING A CHRONIC PHYSICAL NECK PROBLEM. THE HEADREST ANGLE NEEDS TO BE ADJUSTED/TILTED BACK SLIGHTLY TO PROVIDE JUST ENOUGH SPACE FOR NORMAL HEAD MOVEMENT WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT CONSTANT CONTACT WITH THE HEADREST. *TR
