car has always hesitated, then jarred or jumped while trying to accelerate. after a second or so it will 'kick in' and go. but the larger issue is at just 70K miles i am paying for a new/used transmission that may have been due to a faulty torque converter. with little warning (and no check engine light warning) the car began to shake violently when i put it in drive. had to call flatbed tow truck and am suck with a large (over $3000 for used parts) repair... right after the holidays no less. this is unacceptable for such a reputable car company.
Very dangerous drivetrain issue. Transmission shifting issues led the transmission to total failure even after a recommended transmission flush and fill by a reputable Honda dealer. Issue was confirmed by an independent local repair shop. The vehicle itself has low mileage, (@69,600 mi.) No warning lamps prior to the transmission malfunction and failure.
Violent shifting, jarring during normal operation
The Spool Valve leak oil onto the alternator causing the battery not be recharged and the car powering off and shutting down on the highway. This happened on my way from Kansas City Kansas. With the electrical unit completely shut down due to oil leak from the spool valve that caused the alternator to short circuit, my car slowed down from 65 mph to a halt in less than 10 seconds. Luckily enough I was at an exit and hence maneuvered the car to safety. Had I been on a bridge or narrow road with no shoulder, it could have led to potentially deathly situation. Took My car to a Honda dealer in davenport, where I was told the cause was a spool valve leak that is very common with Honda Odysseys built from 2010 to 2018. The issue was not inspected by the police nor my insurance. There was no warning other than my battery light that came on the dash board. The light came on 20 minutes prior to the car shutting down.
The driver side sliding door cable broken all of a sudden When we took to dealer (( tamaroff honda southfield Michigan)and we were shocked to know that the cable cannot be replaced and the entire set - with Motor should be replaced costing 1200 The cable as I see is very thin and my first impression is it's not strong enough that cannot with stand the openings and closings which we do/have to do on a daily basis besides it's connected to a motor which is completely inside the rear side and complex to reach out and to fix a cable we are shelling 1000+ dollars We hardly had any wear and tear on the vehicle as in 6 years we drove less than 50k miles this seems to be a practically functional and mechanical issue which is not qualitatively made , obviously looses it's strength on the normal daily use. This broken cable not only stops the door movement but also will alarm constantly when the van is in drive which forces the customer to shell out huge money only to replace the cable. I strongly believe this is a quality issue which needs a better way of mechanism with quality Opened Case #12287637 with Honda on 06/14/2021 and when I haven't received reply, called them and the case manager abruptly denied any sought of fix coverage ( partial also) stressing the point that the vehicle is out of warranty. Besides the case manager also denied to respond in email( for documentational purpose) which I requested to...They said they only answer in verbal
The van shifts very odd when going forward. It doesn’t shift smooth from 2-3 gear and it’s not just our van my parents have the exact same year and model and it does it in theirs as well! I have read many complaints online about this but I don’t know if it’s the motor or the transmission but something is wrong with it. Being that we have literally 2 of the same year and model vans I can’t see where this is a one off deal. I think there has to be something to it.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE LOST CONTROL AND IMPACTED THE CONTACTS VEHICLE WHICH RESULTED IN DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAGS; WITH THE EXCEPTION OF DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE A TOTAL LOSS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 84,000.
TRANSMISSION POWER HAS STARTED TO FAIL TO ENGAGE FULLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR LOW SPEED SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THE THIRD PARTY SHOP SHOWED ME A HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 17-043 STATING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID DETERIORATES FASTER THAN NORMAL. SOMEHOW A SOFTWARE FIX IS GOING TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM.
TPMS WARNING LIGHT (ERROR) CAME ON, EVEN THOUGH ALL TIRE PRESSURES WERE EXACTLY AS SPECIFIED BY HONDA. WHEN THE TPMS ERROR OCCURS, THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL CANNOT BE TURNED OFF, AND MY VEHICLE COULD NOT MOVE FROM A SMALL SNOWBANK (FEBRUARY 2020.) MY OLDER 2006 ODYSSEY'S STABILITY CONTROL WAS NOT AFFECTED BY ANY TPMS ERRORS SINCE IT DIDN'T HAVE THE SYSTEM, SO I COULD TURN OFF THE STABILITY CONTROL AND EASILY DRIVE OUT OF SLIPPERY OR SNOWY AREAS. I LIVE IN MAINE AND THIS PROBLEM CAUSES POTENTIALLY SERIOUS ISSUES (BEING STUCK IN SNOW THAT IS NORMALLY EASY TO NAVIGATE IN WHEN VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL IS OFF.) THERE WERE TWO SPECIFIC INSTANCES I CAN RECALL: 1) MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WITH THE RIGHT-SIDE TIRES 3-4 INCHES INTO THE SNOWBANK; 2) MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A GRAVEL PARKING LOT WITH SOME ICE UNDERNEATH. THIS PROBLEM COULD LEAD TO A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN THERE IS ANY TRAFFIC AND I NEED TO PUSH OR SHOVEL THE CAR OUT, WHICH WOULD NOT BE NEEDED IF I COULD SIMPLY TURN OFF THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SO POWER COULD BE TRANSMITTED TO ALL FOUR TIRES IN THIS INSTANCE. "LOCKING OUT" THE VSC BECAUSE OF A TPMS ERROR (NOT BECAUSE OF LOW AIR PRESSURE) CAN CAUSE A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN MAINE. NOTE: DATE OF FEB 8, 2020 IS APPROXIMATE FOR ONE INCIDENT (PARKING AREA), CAN'T REMEMBER THE OTHER INCIDENT'S DATE.
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE DASH WILL READ FWC SYSTEM FAILURE. THIS SEEMS TO DEACTIVATE THE LDW AS WELL. HONDA DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED MICU AS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED.
REAR PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR POWER SYSTEM FAILED CAUSING THE DOOR TO BE STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION ON 2 OCCASIONS. THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR HAS ALSO DONE THE SAME. THE CAUSE IS THE NYLON ROLLERS ON THE DOOR WEAR OUT AND CAUSE THE DOOR TO PULL UNEVENLY WHICH IN TURN CAUSE PULLEY SYSTEM AND CABLING TO PULL AT AN UNNATURAL ANGLE IN THE MECHANISM/DRIVE MOTOR CAUSING THE DOOR TO BE INOPERABLE. THIS CAUSES THE DOOR TO NOT BE ABLE TO BE OPENED OR CLOSED IN THE IMMEDIATE INSTANCE WHICH THIS HAPPENS. THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO BE UNDRIVABLE UNTIL THE CABLES ARE CUT ALLOWING THE DOOR FREE FLOW ALNG THE TRACK MANUALLY WITHOUT RESTRICTION. AT A LATER DATE AND TIME, THE NYLON ROLLERS HAVE WORN OUT TO THE EXTENT THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR HAS BECOME UNEVEN IN THE TRACK MAKING THE DOOR INOPERABLE AT ANY TIME AS THE DOOR IS UNABLE TO BE OPENED COMPLETELY. THIS IS BOTH AN ANNOYANCE THAT ONLY THE DRIVER REAR DOOR IS OPERATIONAL AS WELL AS A SAFETY HAZARD CAUSING THE ONLY EXIT OF THE REAR OF VEHICLE TO BE INTO THE TRAFFIC SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHEN STOPPED ON A ROAD, SCHOOL DROP-OFF, PARKED ALONG A CURBSIDE, ETC. THIS IS AN ONGOING AND KNOWN ISSUE TO HONDA, WHICH HAS A HIGHLY PRICED REPLACEMENT PROCESS IN ORDER TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE WHICH INCLUDES REPLACING THE ROLLERS WITH METAL ROLLERS AS WELL AS A NEW LOGIC BOARD AND A NEW MOTOR TO REPLACE THE FAILED SYSTEM.
THE HONDA ODYSSEY 2015 EX MODEL DOESN'T SEEM TO ALLOW THE PASSENGER TO OPEN AND EXIT FROM THE REAR DOOR IN CASE OF EMERGENCY WHEN THE FOUR SIDES DOORS ARE NOT ACCESSIBLE. THE MORE ADVANCED VERSION EX-L HAS AN AUTOMATIC POWERED DOOR INSTALLED, SO THIS IS NOT A MAJOR ISSUE. I DON'T KNOW IF THERE IS A MANUAL BACKUP OPTION TO OPEN WHEN THE POWER IS DOWN. AS OF NOW, I CAN NOT FIND ANY LEVER FOR A TRAPPED PASSENGER TO OPEN THE DOOR TO ESCAPE FROM THE INSIDE. I DIDN'T REALIZE THIS UNTIL I WAS TRAPPED WHEN MY CAR PARKED ON A VERY CLOSED, TIGHT, AND NARROW PARKING SLOT, AND ALL 4 SIDE DOORS WERE NOT ACCESSIBLE. I REALIZED THERE IS NO WAY TO ESCAPE FROM THE REAR EXCEPT TO BREAK THE REAR WINDOW. I THINK THERE NEEDS TO BE A SAFETY MECHANISM THAT ALLOWS THE TRAPPED PASSENGER TO OPEN THE REAR DOOR FROM THE INSIDE WITHOUT NEEDED TO BREAK THE WINDOW, WHICH CAN COMMONLY OCCUR. IN CASE OF A MAJOR CATASTROPHE, IT WOULD BE THE PASSENGER UNFORTUNATE DOOM. I HOPE HONDA WOULD SOON LOOK INTO INSTALLING AN ESCAPE ROUTE FROM THE REAR DOOR.
KEY-LESS START (SMART ENTRY) SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING AND CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO NOT START.
CAR CONTINUES TO LOSE COMPLETE BATTERY POWER. BATTERY HAS A CHARGE BUT WILL NOT START THE CAR. VEHICLE IS IN PARK BUT COMPLETELY DEAD. NOTHING WAS LEFT ON IN THE INTERIOR TO DRAIN POWER. NO AFTER MODEL ADDITIONS TO THE VEHICLE. *TR
WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY FAMILY FLASHES APPEARED ACROSS THE SCREEN. THE ODOMETER REMAINED THE SAME. WE ARE GRATEFUL THAT MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY.
ON DECEMBER 28TH WE UNLOADED THE BACK OF OUR MINIVAN AND CLOSED THE LIFTGATE AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THE NEXT MORNING WE CAME OUT AND THERE WAS A 5"X5" SECTION OF THE PAINT JUST PEELED OFF AND LAYING ON THE GROUND IT PEELED ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE BASE COLOR (PERHAPS PRIMER LAYER). REALIZING THIS WAS CLEARLY A DEFECT WE QUICKLY DID OUR RESEARCH AND REALIZED THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH HONDA VEHICLES, SPECIFIALLY ODYSSEY AND COMMONLY IN THE WHITE PEARL COLOR. BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. THEY QUICKLY ASKED IF I WANTED AND ESTIMATE. I EXPLAINTED THAT I WAS AWARE THIS WAS A COMMON DEFECT AT WHICH POINT THEY ACKNOWLEDGED IT IS AN ISSUE WITH THE PRIMER AND THEY WOULD TAKE IMAGES AND GET IN TOUCH WITH HONDA CORP. HONDA CORP SAID MY VIN DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THEIR WARRANTY EXTENSION AS THAT ONLY APPLIES TO 2012-2014 MODELS. MY CAR WAS DELIVED IN 2014, BUT WAS THE 2015 MODEL. THEY KNOWINGLY HAVE SOLD ME A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THIS WIDESPREAD ISSUE. THIS SECTION IS CLEARLY GOING TO SPREAD. THE CASES THAT ARE MORE ADVANCED THAN MINE ARE RIDICULOUS.
WITH VEHICLE IN PARK, THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR OPENED NORMALLY AND THEN WOULD NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY. IT WOULD START TO CLOSE AND THEN STOP AND RETRACT AGAIN. ALL METHODS FOR CLOSING THE DOOR, BOTH ELECTRICALLY AND MANUALLY, WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. ATTEMPTS WERE ALSO MADE TO CLOSE THE DOOR WITH THE ENGINE ON AND OFF.
THE TAILGATE LATCHING MECHANISM STOPS WORKING WHEN THE WEATHER GETS COLD AND NOT ABLE TO OPEN THE TAIL GATE. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICE BEFORE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM BUT IN COLD WEATHER IT STOPS WORKING.
ON THE FREEWAY, DRIVING 65MPH BUT IT FEELS LIKE THE RPM IS A LITTLE HIGH, WE APPROACHED TRAFFIC POSSIBLE GEAR WENT TO A LOWER GEAR, WHEN THE SPEED TRIES TO SPEED UP AGAIN I FELT A JOLT, WE FELT IT THE ENTIRE VAN MULTIPLE TIME WHEN ACCELERATED SPEED OR FROM LOWER GEAR TO HIGHER GEAR AUTO. THEN WE REACHED THE STREETS OF STOP AND GO, FROM LOWER GEAR SWITCHING TO HIGH GEAR WE EEL THE BIG JOLT, LIKE WE HIT A VERY BIG DIP WHEN EVER IT SWITCH GEAR. I COMPLETELY STOP THE ENGINE AND START THE CAR AGAIN, THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY FOR NOW, BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANY ISSUE.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON UPON STARTING VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND IN PARK. OBD READER SHOWS CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE. MECHANIC REPORTS FOULED PLUG AND OIL CONTROL ISSUES DUE TO VCM. ALL MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ON SCHEDULE BY ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC. VEHICLE HAS 73000 MILES.
THIS CAR HAD AN ISSUE WHEN WE PURCHASED IT WITH THE TRANSMISSION FEELING 'JUMPY' OR LIKE IT DIDN'T SHIFT GEARS CORRECTLY. IT BOUNCED MY FAMILY ACROSS AN INTERSECTION IN A TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL JOLT. WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY DID A 'SOFTWARE' UPDATE. THE PROBLEM, LIKE OTHERS HAVE STATED IS THAT THE ISSUE IS NOT CONSISTENT BUT IT IS SCARY AND UNSAFE. I WISH HONDA WOULD DO A RECALL AND FIX THIS ISSUE. WE WERE ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION TO CROSS AN INTERSECTION WHEN THIS OCCURRED THE SECOND TIME. IT SEEMS LIKE IT'S ALWAYS IN A LOW GEAR. IT HAPPENS MILDLY EVERY TIME I TURN INTO MY OWN STREET. IT DOES NOT SHIFT SMOOTHLY AND FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WE HAVE HAD HIS VEHICLE FOR 4 YEARS AND HAVE ALWAYS HAD THIS PROBLEM.
OCCASIONALLY WHEN DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS THE CAR STRUGGLES AND LURCHES FORWARD AND LOSES POWER. IT IS VERY SCARY WHEN IT HAPPENS. IT FEELS LIKE IT IS STUCK IN NEUTRAL AND YOU LOSE POWER. PROBLEM IS IT DOESN'T HAPPEN CONSISTENTLY, AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO TAKE IT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER WHILE IT HAPPENS. I THINK IT IS DANGEROUS, BECAUSE I BELIEVE IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT ONE DAY. I'VE GOOGLED IT AND HAVE FOUND MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH MY AGE HONDA ODYSSEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, AND MANY SAY THAT HONDA CANNOT FIX IT. I THINK IT USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN THE WEATHER IS COLD.
# WHAT HAPPENED MY 7-YEAR OLD CHILD (AROUND 50 POUNDS, 4'ISH FEET) WAS IN THE 3RD ROW SEAT AND ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE SEATBELT. AS SHE WAS DOING THIS, SHE SOMEHOW MANAGED TO GET KNOTTED WITH THE SEATBELT AROUND HER STOMACH (SEE PHOTO). ATTEMPTS TO LOOSEN THE SEATBELT DID NOT WORK AS THE SEATBELT SEEMED TO HAVE LOCKED UP (EVEN AFTER PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK) # DETAIL 1. WE WERE COMING BACK FROM NEWPORT, RI WHEN WE RAN INTO THIS ISSUE. 2. I PULLED OVER AND WE IMMEDIATELY STARTED WORKING ON UN-RAVELLING THE SEATBELT (SINCE IT COULD POTENTIALLY CUT OFF CIRCULATION ON THE CHILD) 3. EVEN AFTER STOPPING THE CAR AND PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK, THE SEATBELT WOULD NOT SLACK AND LOOSEN. THE CHILD HAD CLEARLY GOT TIED UP IN THE SEATBELT. I WOULD EXPECT THAT THE SEATBELT WOULD SLACK (AKA: NOT LOCK UP) AND ALLOW THE KNOT TO LOOSEN AND FOR THE CHILD TO COME FREE. HOWEVER THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. DESPITE NUMEROUS EFFORTS TO WIGGLE FREE AND PULL THE SEATBELT FOR SLACK, NOTHING WOULD GIVE. 4. WE FINALLY MANAGED TO FIND A SCISSOR AND CUT OFF THE SEATBELT. AS SOON AS THE SEATBELT WAS CUT OFF, IT MADE A CRANKING NOISE AND COILED BACK INTO THE RESTRAINING SYSTEM. THE INCIDENT THAT HAPPENED IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE ONE DESCRIBED IN THIS ARTICLE (HE IS MORE ARTICULATE THAN ME!) : HTTPS://WWW.CONEJOVALLEYGUIDE.COM/WELCOME/SEAT-BELT-SCARE-ON-FATHERS-DAY-2011-KEEP-A-SHARP-OBJECT-IN-Y.HTML (**VERY SIMILAR INCIDENT AS THIS**)
I PURCHASED MY 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY BRAND NEW AND HAVE DONE ALL THE MAINTENANCE ON TIME WITH HONDA. MY SLIDING DOORS DO NOT STOP IF SOMETHING IS IN THE WAY. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE TIMES WHERE A CHILD HAS TRIED TO GO IN/OUT WHILE THE DOOR IS SHUTTING AND IT HAS NOT STOPPED, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! THEN IN 2018 WITH ONLY 32K MILES OR SO I STARTED TO HEAR A SQUEAL TYPE NOISE AT 2K RPM AND ABOUT 60MPH. IT ONLY HAPPENED A FEW TIMES ON THE ROAD TRIP THEN AGAIN ON MY NEXT ROAD TRIP. HONDA LOOKED AT IT AND SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW BUT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID SHOULD BE CHANGED. IT WAS CHANGED AT 29000 MILES WITH THE 30,000 MILE MAINTENANCE. WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE FREEWAY I TOOK IT IN AGAIN, NOW AT 47,000 MILES. HONDA SAYS THE TRANSMISSION FLUID IS DIRTY AND NEEDS TO HAVE WORK DONE. 4 WEEKS LATER I AM STILL WAITING FOR LOCAL HONDA TO GET OK FROM HEAD HONDA FOR FIX OF THROTTLE CONTROL WHINE. HONDA TECH WAS ABLE TO HEAR THE WHINE/SQUEAL WHILE DRIVING IT.
PURCHASED AT 45,646 MILES. NOTICEABLE JUTTERING AT 15-40 MPH, MOST NOTABLY FROM 25-30 MPH AND DRIVING UP HILLS FAINT WHINING NOISE. DEALER CHECKING SOFTWARE UPDATE ON TRANSMISSION. NOTICED ON FREEWAYS AND CITY STREETS.
WHILE DRIVING, THE IDLE STARTED TO BECOME ROUGH AND ENGINE VIBRATION INCREASED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ADDITIONAL WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED IN THE DASH. ERROR CODE P0302 WAS THE PRIMARY ERROR CODE FOR MISFIRE CYLINDER 2 WHEN THE ERRORS WERE SCANNED AT HOME AND CONFIRMED BY SHOP AFFILIATED WITH CAR DEALERSHIP. THE SPARK PLUG IN CYLINDER 2 WAS INSPECTED AND IDENTIFIED TO BE FOULED AND COVERED IN OIL. ADDITIONALLY THE CERAMIC WAS MISSING FROM THE SPARK PLUG. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 50,785 MILES, AND THIS ISSUE IS SIMILAR TO THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT/SERVICE BULLETIN 13-081 ISSUED TO HONDA VEHICLES (INCLUDING HONDA ODYSSEYS 2011-2013) . HOWEVER, THIS TIME HONDA IS TELLING ME THAT THIS ISSUE IS NOT A POWERTRAIN WARRANTY ISSUE AND THAT I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF REPAIRS ALTHOUGH THE PROBLEM FOLLOWS THE EXACT DECISION MATRIX FOUND IN THIS SERVICE BULLETIN FROM THE LOGGED ERROR CODE TO THE FOULED SPARK PLUG IN A YOUNG MOTOR. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED BY THE SAME HONDA DEALERSHIP SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED AT 16K MILES.
WHEN ACCELERATING NORMALLY, A SHAKING, SLUGGISH SENSATION BEGINS IN 2ND GEAR GOING THROUGH 3RD. IF I SETTLE OUT WITHIN ONE OF THE GEARS, IT GOES AWAY. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I'M ACCELERATING. THE SPEEDS WHEN IT OCCURS RANGE FROM 20-40 MPH. IF I WERE TO TRULY STEP ON IT, IT DOESN'T SEEM TO GET WORSE, IT ACTUALLY ALMOST DISAPPEARS. IF ANYONE ELSE HAS THIS PROBLEM, PLEASE POST IT UP. DONT WANT IT GETTING WORSE AND CAUSING INJURIES BUT IF IT DOES, THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL.
AFTER DRIVING A FEW MILES UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS WE PARKED OUR MINIVAN IN OUR PARKING SPOT BEHIND OUR HOUSE. WHILE GETTING OUT OF THE MINIVAN THERE WAS AN ODOR AND A TINY BIT OF SMOKE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. AFTER WAITING A COUPLE MINUTES THE SMOKE SEEMED TO GO AWAY. WE LEFT THE MINIVAN PARKED AND ABOUT 10-20 MINUTES LATER IT STARTED ON FIRE AND WE RECEIVED A CALL FROM OUR NEIGHBORS THAT THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD BEEN CALLED AND THEY WERE PUTTING OUT THE FIRE. I AM UPLOADING A PICTURE OF THE BURNT MINIVAN AND THE LAST SERVICE RECORD FOR A REGULAR OIL CHANGE ON 12/29/2018
CABLE ON BACK DRIVERS SIDE DOOR SNAPPED FOR NO REASON. DID NOT NOTICE UNTIL VAN WAS PARKED AND TURNED OFF AND WENT TO OPEN DOOR. NEVER HEARD A SOUND OR UNDERSTAND WHY IT BROKE. MAKES ME FEEL VERY UNSAFE AND WONDER IF DOOR COULD HAVE OPENED WHILE DRIVING WITH MY CHILD SITTING THERE OR EVEN BEING INJURED BY THE CABLE.
WHEN USING THE PUSH BUTTON TO START MY CAR THE CAR RANDOMLY WON'T START. LIGHTS COME ON THE DASH BUT THE ENGINE DOESN'T TURN OVER. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY CANNOT IDENTIFY ANYTHING WRONG. I HAVE CHILDREN AND HAVING A CAR THAT WON'T START RANDOMLY MAKES MY DAY REALLY STRESSFUL. I NEVER KNOW IF MY TRIP TO RUN ERRANDS, GET GROCERIES OR TO PICK UP MY KIDS WILL BE FOLLOWED BY MY CAR NOT STARTING. THIS CAR IS REALLY UNRELIABLE IN ITS CURRENT STATE. WHAT FRUSTRATES ME THE MOST IS HONDA HAD A RECALL THAT ADDRESSED THIS PROBLEM IN OLDER MODELS YET MY CAR MODEL AND YEAR HAVEN'T BEEN RECALLED.
WHEN THE WEATHER GETS COOLER THE TAIL LIFT WON'T OPEN. IT IS NOT POWER LIFT. I CAN PULL AS LONG AND HARD AS I CAN AND IT WON'T MOVE. I BOUGHT THIS AS A USED VEHICLE IN2018 IN THE SUMMER SO DIDN'T FIND THIS OUT UNTIL IT COOLED DOWN. THE BACK DOOR SENSOR ALWAYS THINKS THE BACK IS OPEN ONCE IT WARMS UP WHICH MAKES THE CAR ALARM GO OFF.
IN 2018 MY 2015 HONDA VAN HAD PROBLEMS SHIFTING GEARS. I WAS GOING ABOUT 25MPH WHEN THERE WAS A JOLT AND THE CAR SHOOK FROM THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING GEARS. I TOOK THE CAR IN AN WAS TOLD THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE UPDATE OCCURRED AND THE VAN RAN FINE. TODAY THE VAN DID THE SAME THING. I SEE SEVERAL A LOT OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE PULLING IN THE GARAGE, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE CONTACT HAD NO RECOLLECTION OF A POLICE REPORT BEING FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THE FIREWALL WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. *BF *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL MADE AN ABNORMAL CLICKING SOUND AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. BALISE HONDA OF WEST WARWICK (509 QUAKER LN, WEST WARWICK, RI 02893, (401) 822-2000) WAS NOTIFIED AND DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A POWER STEERING FLUID LEAK AND THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND HAD NOT ISSUED ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
SOME LATE MODEL HONDA 6 SPEED TRANSMISSIONS CAN NOT BE DOWNSHIFTED! ON A LONG DOWNHILL GRADE, THE BRAKES WERE NOT ADEQUATE AND ARE NOW BURNED AND VIBRATE. I KNOW NOT TO 'RIDE' YOUR BRAKES BUT THERE WAS NO ALTERNATIVE, EITHER TRAVEL AT A CRAWL WITH TRAFFIC BACKING UP BEHIND ME OR HAVING A RUNAWAY CAR. I LEARNED TO DRIVE IN COLORADO AND KNOW THE SAFETY PROVIDED BY DOWNSHIFTING THE TRANSMISSION TO CONTROL YOUR DOWNHILL SPEED AS LONG (7 OR 8 MILES IN PLACES) DOWNHILL ROADS WILL RUIN YOUR BRAKES. TRUCK TRAVEL IS RESTRICTED ON MANY COLORADO ROADS AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS 'TRUCK RUNAWAY RAMPS' IN COLORADO FOR THIS REASON. I NEVER WOULD EXPECT A MANUFACTURE TO TAKE AWAY SAFETY ISSUES BUT HONDA TOOK AWAY THE ABILITY TO DOWNSHIFT THEIR 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION! THEY'VE ADDED MANY OTHER SAFETY DEVICES BUT I WOULD NEVER EXPECT THEM TO TAKE AWAY A SAFETY DEVICE WHERE THE COST OF DEVELOPMENT HAS BEEN ABSORBED, THE COST OF PRODUCTION IS NOW LOW AND IS SO NECESSARY FOR SAFETY. BEING ABLE TO SLOW OR STOP IS THE PRIMARY SAFETY FACTOR IN DRIVING! HONDA'S RESPONSE TO MY COMPLAINT IS THAT IT IS MY FAULT FOR NOT STUDYING THE VEHICLE MORE BEFORE I PURCHASED. IT SHOULD BE THE PRODUCER OF A PRODUCT WHO IS HELD TIGHTLY TO CONSUMER SAFETY. HONDA IS NOT PROVIDING A SAFE VEHICLE. THEY MAINTAIN IT IS NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO INFORM BUYERS OF CHANGES THEY HAVE MADE THAT MIGHT ADVERSELY AFFECT SAFETY. THIS IS AN ISSUE THE AVERAGE CITIZEN CANNOT HANDLE AND IT NEEDS GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION. THE ONLY CONCERN HONDA HAD WHEN THEY RESPONDED TO MY EMAILED COMPLAINT WAS A REQUIREMENT TO RECORD THE CALL AND NOT ALLOW ME TO RECORD IT OR TO GIVE ME A COPY OR TRANSCRIPT OF THE CALL. ALL OF THEIR CONCERN WAS ABOUT PROTECTING THEMSELVES LEGALLY, NOT PROVIDING A SAFE VEHICLE! MAYBE HONDA SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO BUILD 'CAR RUNAWAY RAMPS' ON LONG DOWN GRADES.
ECO CAUSES SIGNIFIANT VIBRATION AT VARIOUS RPM'S/SPEEDS AND DELAYED SHIFTING AS THE COMPUTER DECIDES TO GO INTO ECO OR REMAIN. MOST NOTABLE AT HIGHER SPEEDS ABOVE 65 MPH. CURRENT ODYSSEY HAS HAD TORQUE CONVERTER REPLACED, TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE UPDATED, FRONT AXELS REPLACED AND TIRES ROAD FORCE BALANCED. NONE OF THE ABOVE FIXES HAS EFFECTED THE VIBRATION FELT DURING ECO GOING IN/OUT AND ESPECIALLY VIBRATION FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND CABIN. HONDA SHOP HAS INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS PAR FOR THE COURSE FOR HONDA ECO'S AND THERE IS NO CURRENT FIX FOR THE VIBRATIONS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT NO CURRENT FIX IS IN PLACE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY HONDA AS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE OF OTHERS WITH SIMILAR ISSUE.
THE VEHICLE MAKES HARD SHIFTS IN LOWER GEARS, CAUSING A LACK OF ACCELERATION AND THEN A LURCH WITH ENGINE/TRANSMISSION CLUNK. OCCURS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A SLOWED OR STOPPED POSITION, SO VEHICLE CAN BE STATIONARY OR IN MOTION WHEN THIS OCCURS. HAS HAPPENED BEFORE BUT DEALERSHIP COULD NOT REPLICATE. SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WITH LACK OF RESOLUTION FOUND IN ONLINE FORUMS AS WELL. PRESENTS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN SINCE ACCELERATION IS ALTERED AND SHIFTING IS SLOWED. HAS OCCURED ON RESIDENTIAL ROADS AND HIGHWAY AND AT VARYING OUTDOOR TEMPERATURES.
DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR OPENED SUDDENLY AND MAKE CONTINOUS BEEPING SOUND EVENTHOUGH I DID NOT OPEN IT. CABLE WIRE CAME OFF AND NOW IT IS CLOSED AND DO NOT OPEN. CONTACTED HONDA BUT AM BEING TOLD THAT IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AS 41,000 MILES. I SAW ON TV THAT THERE HAS BEEN RECALLS FOR OTHER MODEL YEARS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS HAS CREATED SAFETY ISSUE FOR MY VEHICLE.
PURCHASED CAR NEW IN 2015, HONDA ODYSSEY, HAVE HAD SHIFTING ISSUES BETWEEN GEARS JERKING. PROBLEM STARTED WITHIN PAST YEAR, SEEMS TO GET A LITTLE WORSE AND YOU CAN FEEL IT SHIFTING ROUGH. I SEE VARIOUS OTHERS WITH SAME ISSUE, COULD THIS BE A FUTURE RECALL I HOPE, I HAVE 65K MILES SO THAT WOULD BE SAD PRODUCT TO HAVE THIS OCCUR. THIS IS MY FIRST HONDA AND THOUGHT THEY WERE RELIABLE VEHICLES, DON'T HAVE MONEY TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. PLEASE HELP.
MY HONDA ODYSSEY WAS EXPERIENCING A BUCKING SENSATION THAT OCCURRED PERIODICALLY BUT STOPPED AFTER BEING RESTARTED. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO DEALER, WHO DIDN'T FIND ACTUAL PROBLEM BUT DURING AN EVALUATION OF THE VEHICLE DETECTED A WEAKENED ENGINE MOUNT AND LEAKING SPOOL VALVE, BOTH OF WHICH COULD HAVE LEAD TO A LOSS OF THE ENGINE IF CONDITION PERSISTED. BOTH NEEDED REPLACEMENT AT HIGH COST, AND TO DEMONSTRATE THAT THIS WAS NOT A SINGULAR EVENT WAS SEEN IN ANOTHER CUSTOMER'S ODYSSEY THAT AFTERNOON. CONSIDERING SO-CALLED RELIABILITY OF HONDA, THERE'S NO REASON FOR ENGINE MOUNT TO HAVE ISSUES AND THERE WAS A HINT THAT THERE IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE SPOOL VALVE. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE LEAD TO SERIOUS ISSUES. HOWEVER THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM INVOLVING THE 'SLIPPING OF THE TRANSMISSION' STILL PERSISTS AND REPRESENTS ANOTHER POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS VAN. THE 'SLIPPING ISSUE' OCCURS WHEN ACCELERATING OR DECELERATING AROUND 20 MPH OR WHEN ACHIEVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS OFF RAMP. IT DOES STOP AFTER THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND THEN TURNED ON AGAIN. SOME OF THESE ISSUES MAY BE MORE COMMON THAN HONDA IS LETTING ON.
AFTER REVERSING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY (SLOWLY) AND PUTTING THE CAR IN DRIVE I NOTICED A HARD CLUNKING SOUND. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A ROUGH SHIFT. WHEN I CONTINUED TO DRIVE DOWN MY BLOCK 5-15 MPH TO THE STOP SIGN IT CONTINUED. IT FEELS LIKE ANOTHER VEHICLE IS CRASHING INTO YOU AND SLAMMING ON THE BREAKS. YOU LOSE 'CONTROL' OF THE GAS PEDAL (YOUR FOOT IS ON THE GAS, YOU HEAR A LARGE CLUNK AND THE GAS PEDAL DOESN'T MAKE YOU GO FORWARD ANYMORE, FOR A COUPLE SECONDS) IT IS A NERVE-RACKING FEELING AND ISN'T CORRECT. MY VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN 2014 (2015 MODEL) IT ONLY HAS 32K MILES ON IT. REGULAR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN PERFORMED. IT HAS HAPPENED A HANDFUL OF TIMES IN THE PAST 3-4 MONTHS AND SEEMS TO TEMPORARILY CORRECT ITSELF ONCE THE CAR IS PUT IN PARK, TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON... I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RECREATE IT FOR ANYONE WHILE THEY ARE IN THE VEHICLE, EXCEPT MY CHILDREN WHO ARE SCARED WHEN IT HAPPENS. WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK AND GOES TO DRIVE THERE IS ALSO A HARSH TRANSITION; A CLUNK HAPPENS WHEN SHIFTING. IT IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. YESTERDAY 10/2/18; I DROVE ROUGHLY A MILE WITH NO ISSUES UNTIL I CAME TO A STOP SIGN, WHERE I DIDN'T MAKE A COMPLETE STOP AND IT STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. I WAITED TO POST, IT HAPPENED AGAIN THIS MORNING 10/4/2018; THE VAN WAS COLD (PARKED ALL NIGHT) BACKED UP, CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, PUT IT IN DRIVE, CLUNKED LIKE IT MISSED FIRTS GEAR, THEN CONTINUED TO CLUNK AS I DROVE BETWEEN 40 AND 60 FEET. STOPPED, PUT IT IN PARK, TURNED IT BACK ON AND DROVE AWAY WITH NO ISSUE. SHALL SEE WHAT HAPPENS AFTER WORK TODAY.
MY SUNROOF EXPLODED WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY. THE GLASS REMAINED INTACT HOWEVER IT SHATTERED. THE GLASS WAS RAISED AND THERE WERE NO FOREIGN OBJECTS THAT EVER CAME INTO CONTACT. THERE WERE NO TEMPERATURE CHANGES. IT JUST SHATTERED AFTER A LOUD BOOM SOMETHING SIMILAR TO A GUNSHOT.
2015 ODYSSEY VEHICLE'S JERKING EXPERIENCE STARTED DURING A STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. WITH THREE KIDS AND TWO ADULTS, WE WERE EXTREMELY FRIGHTENED. THE VEHICLE JERKED VIOLENTLY WHEN I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL DURING THE LOW SPEED, 5-20 MPH. I WENT AWAY LATER THAT DAY AND WE WENT ABOUT OUR BUSINESS. AFTER WE GO BACK TO OUR HOME, WENT TO THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER AFTER MAKING AN APPOINTMENT. OF COURSE, WE WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE VIOLENT JERK EXPERIENCE. THEY SAID UNTIL THEY SEE IT, THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO. IT WAS INITIALLY AROUND 30K MILES WHEN THIS STARTED NOW OVER. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED IN A FEW MONTHS BUT HONDA IS NOT TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY.
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, WITHOUT PROVOCATION, OUR MOONROOF EXPLODED. IT SOUNDED LIKE A BALLOON EXPLODING IN OUR EARS. IT SHATTERED INTO TINY PIECES AND WE QUICKLY PULLED THE SUNSHADE BEFORE THE GLASS COULD CRASH INTO THE CAR. WE WERE GOING 72 MILES AN HOUR, THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE AROUND US AND WE WERE NOT GOING UNDER ANYTHING THAT WOULD HAVE DROPPED DEBRIS ON THE CAR.
THE SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE SLAMMED SHUT WHEN I PUSHED THE CLOSE BUTTON. IF IT WERE OPERATING IN MANUAL MODE, I WOULD HAVE BEEN PREPARED FOR THIS, AND LUCKILY IT WAS ONLY ME OPERATING THIS DOOR IN THIS INSTANCE, HOWEVER, THE FORCE WITH WHICH IT SHUT, UNEXPECTEDLY, BECAUSE ONE TINY ELECTRICAL WIRE, WHICH APPARENTLY CONTROLS THE WHOLE THING, BECAME DISCONNECTED SOMEHOW, WAS ENOUGH TO SCARE ME QUITE A LOT ABOUT HAVING MY CHILDREN OPERATE THESE DOORS IN THE FUTURE, WHICH SEEMS RIDICULOUS - I SHOULD BE COMFORTABLE WITH THE IDEA OF MY CHILD BEING ABLE TO SAFELY OPERATE THEIR DOOR. (WE WERE PARKED FACING SLIGHTLY DOWNHILL IN OUR DRIVEWAY).
STEERING WHEEL CLICKS/POPS WHILE TURNING DUE TO A BAD BEARING, MAY BE CORRODED, REFERENCE TSB NO. 16-024. DEALER AND HONDA SAY THAT MY MODEL DOESN'T QUALIFY FOR REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY, BUT IS POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD.
TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT LOW SPEED, AND THEN ACCELERATING, VAN HAS A JERK OR HARD SHIFT BETWEEN GEARS 1-2. THIS HARD SHIFT IS ENOUGH TO THROW US BACK INTO OUR SEATS AND DOES NOT OCCUR AT HIGH SPEEDS. FLUID HAS BEEN FLUSHED AND TORQUE CONVERTER CHANGED BUT STILL OCCURS. IT CAN HAPPEN AFTER FIRST STARTING CAR OR AFTER A LONG DRIVE. SPECIFICALLY NOTICE THIS IN YIELD TYPE SITUATIONS, ROUND ABOUT A AND WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO TURN INTO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD, WHERE THE CAR IS DECELERATING AND THEN ACCELERATED. IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR DOES NOT KNOW WHICH GROUPS EAR TO BE IN AND THEN JERKS DOWN INTO GEAR AFTER A BRIEF PAUSE.
DOOR ALMOST KILLED MY DAUGHTER. WE WERE GETTING KIDS BUCKLED IN AND MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER FELL DOWN. I WENT TO THE OTHER SIDE TO HELP HER. WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR I SAW SHE WAS STUCK BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE SEAT AND THE DOOR WAS MOVING BACK ON HER. HER HEAD WAS JAMMED BETWEEN THE SLIDING DOOR CUP HOLDER AND THE SIDE OF THE VAN. I AM 220LBS AND WITH ALL MY MIGHT WAS HOLDING THE DOOR FROM OPENING ALL THE WAY AND I THINK CRUSHING HER HEAD (AS THE DOOR GOING BACK WITH THE CUP HOLDER ON THE FLOOR- WAS PINNING HER HEAD BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE VAN). THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED. THE DOOR IS VERY GOOD WITH ANY OBSTRUCTION WHILE THE DOOR IS CLOSING IS SENSED BY THE DOOR AND IT IMMEDIATELY STOPS. YOU NEED A SIMILAR SENSOR SO THAT IF A HEAD, OR ARM OR LEG IS CAUGHT IN THE DOOR WHILE IT IS SLIDING BACK TO OPEN, IT WOULD STOP IMMEDIATELY. THE DOOR CLOSE BUTTON WOULD HAVE WORKED OR PULLING THE HANDLE OUT (WHICH I DID NOT KNOW AT THE TIME) BUT I DID NOT THINK OF IT AS I WAS IN A PANIC TRYING TO STOP THE DOOR FROM CRUSHING MY DAUGHTERS HEAD. IT SHOULD HAVE AUTOMATICALLY STOPPED IN CASE AN ADULT WAS NOT THERE PLEASE FIX THIS THIS REALLY COULD HAVE KILLED MY DAUGHTER INSTEAD HER EAR IS VERY HURT BUT SHOULD BE OK. THANKS SO MUCH- TIM
THE BRAKES ARE GETTING LOWER EVEN WITH A FULL RESERVOIR. AFTER HONDA DEALER FLUSHED, BLEAD AND RESTORED THE BRAKE FLUID, THE VSA MODULE FAILED AND CAUSED AUTONOMOUS BRAKING AND WORSENING OF PEDAL SOFTENING AND BRAKING CONTROL ASSIST. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RECALLED WITH PREVIOUS YEARS AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AGAIN BY NHTSA AND HONDA. BRAKES CAME ON WHILE DRIVING CAUSING BURNING UP OF PADS AND ROTORS. VERY BAD SMELL COMING FROM BRAKE AREA.

ON AUGUST 20, 2017, DRIVING ON I-77 NORTH TOWARDS CHARLOTTE, NC HEARD A POP AND EXPLOSION ON TOP OF OUR VAN OUTSIDE STATESVILLE, NC. PULLED OVER AND DISCOVERED OUR SUNROOF/MOONROOF WAS SHATTERED. FORTUNATELY, THE INTERIOR COVER WAS CLOSED AND DID NOT HAVE ANY GLASS FALL ON US. THAT DAY WE CONTACTED OUR CAR INSURANCE COMPANY, USAA, AND SET UP AN APPOINTMENT AT ABRA AUTO BODY & GLASS - INDEPENDENCE, 2033 MARGARET WALLACE ROAD, MATTHEWS, NC 28105. THE ADJUSTER, JON WULF, COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THIS HAPPENED AND THAT THERE WAS NO ROCK FOUND WHEN THEY REPAIRED THE SUNROOF. THIS PAST WEEKEND MY WIFE, LINDA, HEARD A NEWS REPORT ON "EXPLODING SUNROOFS," AND I FOUND NUMEROUS REPORTS ON THE INTERNET. I AM REPORTING OUR INCIDENT SO THAT OTHERS MAY NEVER HAVE TO EXPERIENCE THIS, ESPECIALLY WHEN TRAVELING OVER 70 MILES AN HOUR ON AN INTERSTATE. WE COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED BY FLYING GLASS AND COULD HAVE HAD A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I AM AFRAID IT WILL TAKE A DEATH BEFORE ANYTHING IS DONE TO PROTECT AMERICAN DRIVERS. I DO HAVE THE AUTO BODY REPORT AS PROOF THIS HAPPENED.
RECENTLY WHILE DRIVING WITH MY TWO SONS IN THE OUTWARD POSITION IN THE MIDDLE ROW, A STRANGE CLICKING CAME FROM THE DRIVER SIDE MIDDLE SEAT. MY 5 Y/O SON SAID "MY SEAT IS MOVING". THE BACK OF THE SEAT WAS NO LONGER LOCKED INTO POSITION AND WAS MOVING FREELY BACK AND FOURTH WITH MINIMAL EFFORT. WE WERE DOING NORMAL STOP AND GO, RUSH HOUR CITY DRIVING WITH NO HARD STOPS AND NO SUDDEN BRAKES. I CONTACTED THE DEALER WHO SAID THERE WAS A RECALL HOWEVER THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE YET.
TAKATA RECALL THE SEATS ARE NOT STABLE WHILE DRIVING. MOSTY TURNING ON A HIGHWAY. AIR BAG SIGN SHOWING OFF DURING DRIVING.
MY WIFE'S HONDA ODYSSEY, WHILE CROSSING/TURNING A CITY ROAD AT A LOW SPEED, WAS HIT (OBVIOUS FROM APPROXIMATELY 90 DEGREE ANGLE) NEAR THE FRONT BY A VOLKSWAGON BEETLE TURBO MOVING AT 35 MILES OR LESS PER HOUR. APPARENTLY, ALL THE FRONT AIRBAGS (THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE ALL AIRBAGS) OF THE ODYSSEY WERE APPARENTLY EXPLOSIVELY DEPLOYED DESTROYING ALMOST THE ENTIRE FRONT UPPER INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. WE SUSPECT THE AIRBAGS (WE DO NOT KNOW BUT THEY MIGHT BE FAULTY TAKARA AIRBAGS) MIGHT HAVE PREMATURELY DEPLOYED GIVEN THE LOW SPEEDS OF THE VEHICLES BEFORE THE CRASH AND MINIMAL VISIBLE BODY DAMAGES. AFTER THE ACCIDENT, VOLKSWAGON WAS PERFECTLY DRIVEABLE WITH VERY MINIMUM VISIBLE DAMAGE TO ITS FRONT AND WAS DRIVEN AWAY WITHOUT DOUBT. PLEASE INVESTIGATE WHETHER THE ODYSSEY AIR BAGS OR ANY OTHER MANUFACTURING DEFECTS WERE AT PLAY DURING THIS ACCIDENT. THE ODYSSEY IS CURRENTLY AT A BODYSHOP IN VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. INSURANCE AGENCY HAS DECIDED TO TOTAL THE VEHICLE APPARENTLY PRINCIPALLY DUE TO EXTENSIVE COST OF REPLACING ALL THE AIRBAGS AND RELATED DAMAGES. I AM THE OWNER OF THE ODYSSEY. ATTACHED ARE TWO PHOTOS. YOUR PROMPT RESPONSE AND ACTION WILL BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE MIDDLE ROW SEAT'S SEAT BACK OF OUR 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY WILL NOT LOCK INTO PLACE. NO ONE CAN SIT IN THAT SEAT BECAUSE THE SEAT BACK EITHER RECLINES BACK OR FOLDS FORWARD. WHEN UNOCCUPIED AND THE CAR IS IN MOTION, IT WILL ADJUST ON ITS OWN AT TIMES (YOU HEAR THE CLICKING/GRINDING). UPON DISCOVERING THIS ISSUE IN LATE DECEMBER 2017, WE IMMEDIATELY STOPPED USING THE SEAT (DESPITE THE TREMENDOUS INCONVENIENCE THIS CAUSED TO TRANSPORTING OUR FAMILY OF 6) AND CONTACTED HONDA CORPORATE (CASE NUMBER 06564580) AND WERE ADVISED THAT THE SEAT BACK ISSUE WAS NOT PART OF THE TWO OTHER RECALLS INVOLVING THE ODYSSEY'S MIDDLE ROW SEATS AND TO TAKE OUR VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. WE REMOVED THE SEAT FROM THE VEHICLE UNTIL WE WERE ABLE TO GET IT INSPECTED GIVEN OUR CONCERN FOR MIDDLE AND THIRD ROW PASSENGER SAFETY. ON JANUARY 15, 2018, THE DEALER INSPECTED THE SEAT AND FOUND THAT THE SEAT BACK ADJUSTMENT MECHANISM WAS BROKEN. WHEN I ASKED HOW THIS HAPPENED, THE SERVICE REP COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE DEFINITIVELY, BUT HE SPECULATED PERHAPS SOMEONE FORCED IT TO RECLINE OR "SOMEONE HAD A BAD DAY AT THE FACTORY." I FIND THE FORMER CAUSE SUSPECT. REGARDLESS, I QUESTION WHY A SEAT BACK IN A MOTOR VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE DESIGNED TO WITHSTAND FORCES ASSOCIATED WITH NORMAL PASSENGER USE GIVEN THE POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT FORCES THAT COULD OCCUR IN THE UNFORTUNATE EVENT OF A HIGH SPEED MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISON. ULTIMATELY, I WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT I WOULD NEED A NEW SEAT BACK FRAME - 81726-TK8-A22 -- 530.00 - TO RENDER THE EXISTING SEAT FUNCTIONAL AGAIN. SEE ATTACHED INVOICE AND PHOTOS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. A LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
RE: HONDA RECALL NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 17V-725 DEAR SIR/MADAM, MY HONDA 2015 ODYSSEY IS IN THE RECALL SCOPE, THE HONDA RECALL S0G WAS ANNOUNCED AT NOV.17, 2017. IT IS STILL ON INCOMPLETE AND NO MORE ACTIONS ABOUT REMEDY. I DID CALL HONDA TO ASK THE SCHEDULE, THEY RESPONDED ME THAT THERE IS NO VALID SOLUTION AND SCHEDULE ACCORDING THEIR INTERNAL COMMUNICATION. I AM DISAPPOINTED AND WORRIED ON THIS RECALL SINCE MY CHILDREN SEAT THE 2ND ROW SEATS EVERYDAY. MAY I KNOW IF THERE IS TIME CONSTRAINT TO HONDA TO CLOSE THE RECALL WITH ACTIONS? I REALLY WANT TO GET AN EXPLICIT SOLUTION AND SCHEDULE FROM HONDA TO SOLVE THE POTENTIAL RISK.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR MY 2015 HONEY ODYSSEY ON JANUARY 2, 2018. I FIRST READ OF THE ISSUE IN THIS NOTICE SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. HONDA STILL HAS NO REMEDY AVAILABLE AND THE FIX IS NOT TIMELY. HONDA HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS ISSUE FOR MONTHS AND YET HAD FAILED TO CORRECT THE SEATS FROM LATCHING IMPROPERLY. FURTHERMORE, THIS IS THE SECOND SEAT RELATED RECALL WE HAVE HAD SINCE WE LEASED THIS VEHICLE IN JUNE 2015.
THE SEAT RECLINE LATCHING MECHANISM ON ONE OF THE SECOND ROW SEATS HAS FAILED AND ALLOWS THE SECOND ROW TO COLLAPSE BACK INTO THE THIRD ROW SEAT. THE LATCH WILL NOT LATCH AT ALL. THIS PUTS THE PERSON SITTING IN THE 3RD ROW AT HIGH RISK OF INJURY IF THIS OCCURS IN A REAR END COLLISION. FORTUNATELY,THIS WAS DISCOVERED WITHOUT INJURY.
THE VAN HAS POWER SLIDING DOORS. EVER SINCE IT WAS NEW, WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE DOORS NOT CLOSING. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD SEVERAL TIMES BY THE DEALER THAT IT IS BECAUSE WE LIVE ON GRAVEL. I FINALLY TOOK THE VAN APART MYSELF AND FOUND THAT THE RUBBER COATING HAD COME OFF THE CABLE THAT CLOSES THE DOOR AND BUNCHED UP AND WOULD LET IT SLIDE FREELY. I BOUGHT A NEW AND WITHIN A MONTH IT WAS DOING THE SAME THING. THE COATING WAS COMING OFF. WE JUST TOOK IT BACK TO HONDA AND WERE TOLD AGAIN IT WAS DUST BUT THE COATING IS COMING OFF THE OTHER SIDE AND JAMMING IT UP TOO. MY WIFE HIT A DEER RECENTLY AND THIS IS WHERE THE PROBLEM IS. THE POWER DOOR WOULDN'T SLIDE AND WHEN YOU PUT IT ON MANUAL MODE WHICH SHUTS THE DOORS OFF, IT WON'T SLIDE EITHER AND MY WIFE HAD TO CLIMB OVER THE FRONT SEAT AND GET MY SON OUT OF HIS SEAT. IF THIS WAS AN EMERGENCY SITUATION I DON'T KNOW WHAT WOULD HAPPEN. WORST PART, MY WIFE SAYS THAT IT HAS NEVER WORKED AND SHE ASKED HONDA ABOUT IT AND THEY SAID IT WAS BECAUSE WE LIVE ON GRAVEL. NOW THAT OUR WARRANTY IS UP, THEY WANT TO SELL US A BUNCH OF NEW PARTS. I JUST ASK THAT SOMEONE LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY FACTOR. I CONSIDER MYSELF TO BE PRETTY STRONG AND I CAN'T SIT ON THE INSIDE THE VAN AND FORCE IT OPEN SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT MY KIDS WOULD DO IF SOMETHING HAPPENED TO MY WIFE IF THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH WITH THE SUN ROOF TILTED OPEN, THE GLASS SHATTERED INTO PIECES WITHOUT WARNING. A COUPLE OF PIECES FELL INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS UNINJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIR. THE CONTACT CALLED SPREEN HONDA (25050 REDLANDS BLVD, LOMA LINDA, CA 92354 (909) 799-7070) AND WAS INFORMED THAT A ROCK PROBABLY STRUCK THE GLASS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,100.
FIRE STARTED IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND ENGULFED FRONT END OF VEHICLE WITHIN 10 MINS. VEHICLE HAD JUST BEEN PARKED IN DRIVEWAY OF HOME AFTER BEING DRIVEN FOR APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR. MY WIFE NOTICED THE SMELL OF SMOKE UPON EXITING VEHICLE AND WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD THERE WERE FLAMES VISIBLE AT THE BACK OF THE ENGINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, A DEER APPEARED IN THE ROADWAY. TO AVOID HITTING THE DEER, THE CONTACT SWERVED TO THE RIGHT, DROVE OFF THE ROADWAY, AND CRASHED. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE CRASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT WHERE IT WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,400.
STEERING VIBRATES WHEN BRAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH, A DEER ENTERED THE ROAD AND THE CONTACT SUDDENLY APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO AVOID HITTING THE DEER. THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RETRACT AND THE CONTACT'S FACE STRUCK THE DASHBOARD. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE FACE, WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE LOCAL DEALER (RIVERSIDE HONDA IN MARQUETTE, 2025 US-41, MARQUETTE, MI, 49855) WAS CONTACTED AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD HAVE TO BE INVESTIGATED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,500.
A FEW MONTHS AFTER OUR PURCHASE THE ODYSSEY SEEMED TO JERK AFTER SLOWING DOWN AND THEN TAKING OFF (CITY STOP AND GO TRAFFIC). WE MENTIONED THIS AT OUR SERVICE AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS NORMAL WITH THE ECO. LAST WEEK MY FAMILY HEADING OUT ON VACATION. ABOUT 6 HOURS, HIGHWAY DRIVING, INTO OUR DRIVE WE CAME UPON HEAVY TRAFFIC. WE HAD SEVERAL MILES OF STOP AND GO. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO SLAM INTO GEAR AND THEN THE VAN WOULD JERK THEN MOVE. THIS CONTINUED FROM A COMPLETE STOP TO A SLOW ROLL WHEN SHE ACCELERATED FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 TO 7 EVENTS THROUGH OUT THE CONGESTED AREA ABOUT 40 MIN. WE FINALLY CLEARED TRAFFIC AND STOPPED FOR REST AND FUEL AND CONTINUED ON. THE SYMPTOM DID NOT RETURN FOR THE REMAINDER OF OUR TRIP HOWEVER, WE DID NOT HAVE THE SAME TYPE OF HEAVY STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AS WE DID WHEN WE STARTED. I BEGAN TO RESEARCHED THIS AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HASN'T BE SOLVED. IT IS DIFFICULT TO REPRODUCE AND SEEMS TO RESET TO NORMAL WHEN THE VAN IS TURNED OFF. I AM HEADING TO THE DEALER TO GET OUR VAN LOOKED AT AND DOCUMENT IN THEIR SYSTEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS OR WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE PASSENGER SIDE VIEW MIRROR CAMERA FAILED TO DISPLAY IMAGES ON THE INTERIOR MONITOR WHEN THE PASSENGER SIDE TURN SIGNAL WAS ACTIVATED. ALSO, THE REARVIEW CAMERA GRID FAILED TO DISPLAY ON THE MONITOR WHEN IN REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MCCONNELL HONDA (2840 EASTERN BLVD, MONTGOMERY, AL 36116 (334) 271-2500) FOUR TIMES, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER STATED THAT WHEN THE EXTERIOR TEMPERATURE WAS HOT, THE CAMERAS WOULD FAIL TO OPERATE CORRECTLY. A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED, WHICH WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A FAILURE CODE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,000.
THE ODOMETER DIAL IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE IN BRIGHT CONDITIONS. THIS YEAR THEY WENT TO WHITE LETTERS ON GRAY BACKGROUND. AT 70 MILES AN HOUR, STARING AT THE ODOMETER TO CHECK ONE'S SPEED IS SIMILAR TO READING TEXT ON A PHONE. I HAD CONTACTED HONDA A NUMBER OF TIMES TO ASK WHY WE CANNOT ADJUST THE LIGHTING SO THE NUMBERS WHEN LIT CAN BE VIEWED MORE EASILY. THERE IS A LIGHT DETECTOR BUILT IN THAT DOES NOT ALLOW THE DASH LIGHTS TO FUNCTION DURING DAYLIGHT. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL DANGEROUS EVENTS OCCUR DUE TO DRIFTING OF THE VEHICLE WHILE TAKING MY EYES OFF THE ROAD TO TRY AND READ THE DIAL. WHY CAN'T THEY FIX IT TO ALLOW USE OF DASH LIGHTING DURING DAYLIGHT? IT COULD BE AS SIMPLE AS ALLOWING THE DISABLING OF THE DAY/NIGHT DETECTOR.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE SUNROOF EXPLODED INTO PIECES. FORTUNATELY, OUR VISOR WAS CLOSED.
LESS THAN 2 YEAR OLD HONDA ODYSSEY IN PERFECT CONDITION. FOR NO REASON CHARCOAL CANISTER SENSOR FAILED AND CAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. AT THE SAME TIME TAIL LIGHT BULB IS OUT.
PUSH START WOULD NOT START THE ENGINE, NOR TURN ON THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. AFTER JUGGLING THE WHEEL, AND THE SHIFT LEVER & BRAKE PEDAL THE CAR STARTS. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES, ALTHOUGH THE DEALER STATES THE COMPUTER HAS NO IN THE DTCS SYSTEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V933000 (SEATS); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. I WAS TRAVELING DOWN AN INTERSTATE AT 70MPH, WHEN THE SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED. THERE WAS NOTHING ABOVE ME, EXCEPT FOR THE SKY, AND NO VEHICLES IN FRONT OR BEHIND ME. IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 75 DEGREES ON A CLEAR SUMMER DAY. SOUNDED LIKE AN EXPLOSION WHEN IT OCCURRED. TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER, AND THEY CONTACTED THE REP FOR WARRANTY CLAIMS, AND DENIED MY CLAIM, STATING THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY IMPACT. HAD THE REP CALL ME AND HE WAS ABSOLUTELY UNWILLING TO WORK WITH ME AT ALL. STUDIES HAVE SHOWN THAT IT IS "PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO GET AN IMPACT BREAK ON THE TOP OF A CAR". ADDITIONALLY, A ME PROFESSOR AT UC BERKELEY CALCULATED THAT A ROCK LOFTED INTO THE AIR BY A VEHICLE TIRE WOULD REACH A HEIGHT OF 10-15 FEET AND WOULD HAVE TO COME DOWN AT 70-80 MPH TO BREAK THE SUNROOF. "THERE IS NOT A CHANCE IN THE WORLD THAT AN UNINTENTIONAL ROCK THAT IS LOFTED BY A VEHICLE WOULD EVER BREAK A SUNROOF PANEL. THE MAXIMUM VELOCITY OF A ROCK COMING DOWN WOULD BE 25 MPH, WELL SHORT OF THE 70 MPH". JUST LIKE THE OTHER COMPLAINTS ON HERE ABOUT THIS ISSUE, THE GLASS WAS BOWED OUT ON THE SUNROOF, LIKE AN EXPLOSION, AND THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE SUNROOF SLIDING VISOR THAT YOU WOULD EXPECT TO SEE IF SOMETHING REALLY DID IMPACT THE SUNROOF CAUSING IT TO BREAK. HONDA HAS BEEN ABSOLUTELY UNWILLING TO ADMIT THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE, AND THEY CLAIM THEY'VE NEVER HEARD ABOUT THIS HAPPENING BEFORE. A SIMPLE INTERNET SEARCH FINDS NUMEROUS ISSUES OF SUNROOFS EXPLODING ON NEWER MODEL VEHICLES.
CAR HAS LOW MILEAGE OF 12,800 MILES AND THERE IS VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING. THIS IS NOT NORMAL AND I HAD THIS ISSUE ON MY LAST ODYSSEY. THERE ARE HUNDREDS IF NOT MORE COMPLAINTS OF VIBRATIONS WHEN BRAKING AT HIGHER SPEEDS. HONDA RECALLED CARS IN THE PAST FOR THIS. IT SEEMS THE DEALERS CANNOT EVEN FIGURE IT OUT BUT SAY TO REPLACE THE ROTORS WHICH MAKES NO SENSE GIVEN HOW LOW MILEAGE THE CAR HAS.
THIS VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 17000 MILES, LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD. A FRONT WHEEL STUD WAS BROKEN DUE TO HEAVY RUST. THREADS WERE STRIPED AND WHEEL NUT IS LOST DUE TO THAT. THIS VEHICLE WAS KEPT IN TEXAS MOST OF TIME. REGULAR MAINTAINED. NO SALT CORROSION.
ON FRIDAY, MAY 19, 2017 WE BROUGHT OUR VAN INTO MAITA HONDA FOR AN OIL CHANGE, A RECALL NOTICE, AND FOR THE BLEMISHES ON THE VAN TO BE REMOVED. ON MONDAY, MAY 22, 2017 WE NOTICED THAT THE VAN WAS LEAKING GAS; WE COULD SMELL THE GAS AND SEE THE PUDDLE IT LEFT. ON TUESDAY MORNING, MAY 23, 2017 WE BROUGHT THE VAN IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THERE IS A CRACK IN THE GAS TANK AND THAT IT HAD BEEN BANGED UP PRETTY GOOD, PROBABLY WITH SOMETHING ON THE ROAD. THEY INDICATED THAT THE DAMAGE WAS NOT CAUSED BY THEIR CAR LIFTS. THEY SAID THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $1,400; THAT WE WOULD NEED TO SUBMIT A CLAIM TO OUR INSURANCE COMPANY. THEY SAID THEY WOULD TAKE PICTURES AND WRITE AN ESTIMATE AND PROVIDE US WITH THEM. I BELIEVE THAT THIS DAMAGE OCCURRED WHILE MAITA HONDA HAD OUR VAN FOR SERVICE ON MAY 19, 2017. THEREFORE, I EXPECT MAITA HONDA TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK WITH A NEW ONE AT THEIR EXPENSE. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THAT THIS DAMAGE WAS THE RESULT OF A ROAD HAZARD; ACCORDING TO THEM, SOMETHING MUST HAVE HIT OUR PLASTIC GAS TANK. THIS DAMAGE OCCURRED WHILE IN THE DEALERSHIPS POSSESSION. AT THIS TIME, I DO NOT HAVE ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS TO PROVIDE AS THE VAN IS STILL AT THE SHOP/DEALERSHIP.

THE DEALER DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE PARTS HAD BEEN ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS NOT EXPERIENCING A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND THE SECOND ROW SEAT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DETACHED AND HIT THE BACK OF THE FRONT DRIVER'S SEAT. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V933000 (SEATS); HOWEVER, THE RECALL WAS NOT REMEDIED DUE TO LACK OF COMMUNICATION FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED WITH NO SIGNS OF ANY EXTERNAL IMPACT. THE CAR WAS PARKED AT THE TIME. CHECKED FOR DEBRIS AND NOTHING FOUND. IN FACT, IT LOOKS AS IF THE FORCE CAME FROM WITHIN THE VEHICLE AS THE HOLE EXTRUDED FROM THE CAR ITSELF.

DRIVING ON I64 NEAR LOUISVILLE, KY AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WHEN REAR TIRE ON DRIVER SIDE BLEW OUT. THE TIRES HAD 23,000 MILES ON THEM.
DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE WHEN I HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION. HEARD WIND SOUND AND LOOKED UP. SUN ROOF WAS SHATTERED COMPLETELY WITH A VERY LARGE HOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF IT. COULD FIND NO ROCK OR EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING HITTING IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 32 MPH AND APPROACHING A RED LIGHT, THE MOTOR STOPPED AND ALL THE ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS SEIZED. THE CONTACT SCHEDULED A REPAIR APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,176.
HONDA IS USING SOY PRODUCT ON WIRING AND IT ATTRACTS SQUIREELS TO EAT MY WIRES. THE RODENTS ATE THE WIRES THREE TIMES SO FAR. WHILE DRIVING WITH CHILDREN IN CAR, MY BREAKS DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. I ALSO HAD NO WINDSHIELD WIPERS OR LIGHTS. IT WAS RAINING. IT WAS SO SCARY. I HAVE VIDEO OF THE SQUIRRELS UNDERNEATH THE HOOD
WHEN I TRIED STARTING THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES IT WANTS TO TURN OFF AND ON BY ITSELF. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS FLICK ON AND OFF WHILE THIS IS HAPPENING. THE WHOLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM GLITCHES AND THE CAR ENGINE WANTS TO "TURN OVER" THEN SHUT OFF. I HAVE TO PUSH THE START/STOP BUTTON ON THE DASH TO STOP IT.
WHEN I PULLED UP TO A PARKING SPOT AND TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDDLE AND PLACED IT ON THE BREAK THE ENGINE STARTED TO ACCELERATE AND ENGINE RPM'S CLIMBED ABOUT 1000 RPM'S. THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION WAS STILL IN DRIVE (D). I HAD TO FORCE THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK (P) AND PUSH THE START/STOP BUTTON TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. THIS INCIDENT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO REAR END A PARKED CAR.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ON AN 80 DEGREE SUNNY DAY AN EXPLOSION SOUND ABOVE MY HEAD. OPENED MOON ROOF VISOR AND GLASS WAS SHATTERED. STOPPED AND LOOKED AT THE DAMAGE. LOOKED LIKE SOMETHING PUSHED IT OUT VS BEING HIT BY ANYTHING. THERE WAS AN 8" HOLE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE AND ALL THE SHARDS OF GLASS AROUND IT POINTED UP. NOTHING HIT US AS BOTH MY WIFE AND I WHERE PAYING ATTENTION AND NO BANG LIKE A ROCK OR DEBRIS MAKES WHEN HITTING THE WINDSHIELD.
SUNROOF GLASS EXPLODE/SHATTERED IN THE HIGHWAY. SECOND TIME SINCE I BOUGHT IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AROUND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND WHEELS BEGAN TO VIBRATE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FUNCTIONED AS INTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO ACKNOWLEDGED THE VIBRATION BUT WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 700. UPDATED 08/02/16*LJ *CN
HAD MY VEHICLE DROVE ON FREEWAY FOR AN HOUR AND WHEN PULLING ON TO A SHOPPING CENTER, THERE WAS A STOP AND GO. AT THAT POINT THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION STARTING JERKING AND SHAKING. THERE WAS SOUND FROM ENGINE/TRANMISSION LIKE SOME METAL CRUSHING OR BREAKING. STOPPED THE VEHICLE FOR A WHILE AND THE ISSUE DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. DEALER NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THIS ISSUE AND SO NO FIX.
HEADREST NOT ADJUSTABLE FORWARD TO BACK. WHEN INSTALLED PROPERLY, FORCES THE NECK FORWARD SO A CLEAR SAFE DRIVING POSITION CAN'T BE ACHIEVED. ONLY WAY TO DRIVE SAFELY IS TO REMOVE THE HEADREST WHICH LEAVES NO NECK SUPPORT IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. NO ABILITY TO DECREASE THE FORWARD ANGLE OF THE HEADREST, NO REPLACEMENT AVAILABLE. TO STRAIGHTEN NECK, SEAT MUST BE RECLINED TO THE POINT WHERE THE SEAT DOESN'T MAKE CONTACT WITH YOUR BACK CAUSING ADDITIONAL SAFETY ISSUES.
DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE BY PUSHING THE "OPEN/CLOSE" BUTTONS. TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES. UPON ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE DOOR MANUALLY, THE ENTIRE DOOR FELL OFF THE VAN. HONDA'S RESPONSE TO THE ISSUE IS THAT THIS IS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE AND THEY REFUSE TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FAULTY DOOR AND RELATED REPAIR COSTS.
AS I WAS DRIVING SLOWLY APREACHING A STOP SIGN, I PLACED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, WAS TOTALLY OFF THE GAS PEDAL, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. THIS WAS SCARY, LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE I FROM THE OF ME AND I HADN'T YET HIT THE STOP SIGN MARK, I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE MANY TIMES, SWIFTLY,IT FINALLY CAME BACK UP BEFORE REACHING THE STOP SIGN. TWO DAYS BEFORE THIS I DROVE OFF FROM HOME AND THE VAN LOST POWER AND WAS BUCKING AS IF THE FUEL PUMP WAS BLOCKED. THESE VANS NEED TO BE CHECKED THOROUGHLY, HONDA NEEDS TO PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THEIR CUSTOMERS COMPLAINTS. I HAVE CHILDREN AND I PRAY THIS VAN DOESN'T LEAD ME IN TO AN ACCIDENT OR FATALITY.

WHILE PARKED, WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE HEADLIGHTS AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL NOT COME ON. AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR, THEY COME BACK ON. HAPPENED TWICE SO FAR. ONLY 9000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER SAYS THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS. CAN'T FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM.
WAS DRIVING ~70MPH ON FREEWAY NEAR ORLANDO, FL. HEARD A STRANGE LOUD NOISE AND GLASS BREAKING, THEN LOT OF ROAD NOISE. UPON STOPPING TO CHECK WHAT HAPPENED, REALIZED SUNROOF GLASS HAD SHATTERED AND HAD A LARGE HOLE IN IT - IT APPEARED TO BE BOWED UP/OUTWARD. LUCKILY THE INNER COVER WAS CLOSED SO NO GLASS ENTERED THE VEHICLE. DID NOT HEAR ANY IMPACT NOISE WHEN IT HAPPENED AND THERE ARE NO VISIBLE SCRATCHES, DENTS OR OTHER EVIDENCE OF ANY IMPACT AROUND SUNROOF WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THIS IS A FAULT OF SOME KIND [IN GLASS OR OTHERWISE]. THE SUNROOF SITS ALMOST FLAT AND THE PROBABILITY OF IT BEING STRUCK BY ANYTHING MUST BE EXTREMELY SMALL. IF BY SOME MIRACLE IT IS ACTUALLY STRUCK BY SOMETHING, WOULD HAVE TO BE ONLY A GLANCING IMPACT AND I BELIEVE SHOULD NOT SHATTER AND DISINTEGRATE LIKE IT DID. SEEING AS THERE ARE ALREADY OTHER 3 REPORTS OF SIMILAR OCCURRENCES ALREADY REGISTERED WITH NHTSA SPECIFICALLY FOR 2015 MODEL, PLUS A COUPLE OF OTHER REPORTS MENTIONED IN FORUMS ONLINE, I THINK THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT AS A CONSEQUENCE. MY CONCERN IS HONDA DEALER IMMEDIATELY DECIDED IT WAS EXTERNAL ISSUE AND SHOULD BE INSURANCE CLAIM. IF THIS IS STANDARD PRACTICE, IT COULD MEAN OTHER OCCURRENCES OF THIS HAPPENING MIGHT NOT BE GETTING REPORTED TO AMERICAN HONDA AND SO THEY ARE UNAWARE OF A POTENTIALLY SERIOUS PROBLEM.
DURING RAIN AT NIGHT, VERY LITTLE OF THE LOW BEAMS REACH THE ROAD WAY. THE PATTERN OF LIGHT FROM THE PROJECTOR TYPE LOW BEAM IS SUCH THAT THERE IS A BRIGHT LINE ABOUT 2 - 3 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND AT 25 FEET. ABOVE THAT IT SHARPLY FADES TO ALMOST NOTHING. BELOW THAT LINE, IT GRADUALLY FADES TO DARKNESS AT GROUND LEVEL. AT THE FACTORY SETTING, THERE COULD BE MORE LIGHT HIGHER UP. THE REAL ISSUE IS THAT VERY LITTLE LIGHT GETS TO THE ROAD. DURING RAIN, ROADWAY CENTER AND SIDE LINES ARE NOT VISIBLE, HOWEVER, REFLECTIVE MATERIAL ABOUT 1 FOOT OFF THE GROUND IS INCREDIBLY BRIGHT. OI HAVE TAKEN THE VAN TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NO SOLUTION. IT IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AS THERE IS INSUFFICIENT LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE ROADWAY LANE LINES.
I WAS DRIVING INTO THE GARAGE AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR WITH NO RESISTANCE AND CAR CRASHED INTO A CABINET IN THE FRONT OF GARAGE CAUSING DAMAGE TO CAR, CABINET AND GARAGE WALL. TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT OK AND THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. THEY STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. THEY SAID I COULD CALL HONDA CORPORATE BUT THEY WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING EITHER. I HAD TO PAY TO GET CAR REPAIRED, BUY NEW CABINET AND PAY TO HAVE GARAGE WALL REPAIRED. I THEN HAD TO TRADE CARS BECAUSE MY WIFE REFUSED TO DRIVE THIS ONE. I HAD THE VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 4 MONTHS WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I BOUGHT IT NEW. AFTER 4 MONTHS I WAS FORCED TO BUY ANOTHER NEW CAR. I REALIZE THIS MAY NOT BE A BIG DEAL TO SOME BUT WHAT IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED AT STOP SIGN AND I WOULD HAVE WENT THROUGH AND SOMEONE WAS HURT OR EVEN KILLED. THIS CAR WILL BE SOLD TO SOMEONE ELSE AND WE CAN ONLY HOPE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. THERE WAS ANOTHER COMPLAINT IN THIS FORUM WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. FOR HONDA CORPORATE TO JUST PUSH THIS ASIDE AND NOT MAKE IT RIGHT I THINK IS JUST TERRIBLE.
I WAS DRIVING 65 M/H WHEN I HEAR A "SMALL EXPLOSION", WASN'T SURE WHERE THE NOISE CAME FROM. AFTER THAT I SEE SOME SOLID MATERIAL FLYING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR ALL THE WAY TO THE BACK. I PARKED THE CAR ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND WHEN I LOOK ON TOP OF THE ROOF I SAW THE MOONROOF BROKE AND NOTICED THE HOLE WAS COMING FROM BOTTOM UP. THERE WERE NOT OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD ELIMINATING THE POSSIBILITY OF ROAD DEBRIS OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD MAKE ME THINK THAT THIS WAS AN INCIDENT OTHER THAN FACTORY ISSUE (PRESSURIZATION) I'M ALMOST 8 MONTHS PREGNANT AND THE ATTENTION I GOT FROM HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN MORGAN HILL IS REALLY DISAPPOINTING THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ISSUE IF I DIDN'T HAVE THE COVER IN PLACE TO PROTECT ME TO GET GLASS ON ME!. I FOUND SIMILAR CASES REPORTED TO THE NHTSA FOR THE SAME CAR AND MODEL. THIS NEEDS TO BE TAKING SERIOUSLY BY AMERICAN HONDA.
TL* THE CONTACT OWN A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE B-PILLAR NEEDED TO BE WELDED AND THE DOOR PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 390.
2015 EXL ODYSSEY 5000 MILES DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ABOUT 20 MINS INTO MY DRIVE WITH 70 DEGREE GOOD WEATHER. TRANNY STARTES TO CLUNK INTO GEAR. AT FIRST I NOTICED A LITE CLUNK GIVING GAS TO PASS SOMEONE. THEN I NOTICED THE CLUNK GOT WORSE THE HARDER I GASES IT. WHAT I REALIZED IS. THAT WHEN THE CAR SHIFTS INTO GEAR OR DOWNSHIFTS THE TRANNY WOULD SLIP AND CLUNK. THEN WHEN I CAME TO A FULL STOP AND ACCELARATED THE 1ST TO 2ND GEAR SHIFT WAS TERRIBLE (BAD CLUNK) IT CONTINUED EVERYTIME THE CAR SHIFTED INTO 2ND. IT WAS SO BAD I DECIEDED TO PUT CAR INTO 1ST GEAR AND HOLD IT AND MANUALLY SHIFT TO 2ND. I WAS ABLE TO SOFTEN THE CLUNK BY TAKING MY FOOT OFF GAS COUNTING TO 3 AND THEN SHIFTING WHILE DECELERATING. HOWEVER I DID NOTICE THAT THE MORE LOAD ON TRANNY DURING SHIFTS TRANSLATED INTO A HARDER CLUNK. ANYWAY I LIMPED CAR HOME WENT ON ON INTERNET AND FOUND MANY PEOPLE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM, WHAT I FOUND WAS PEOPLE SAYING TO TURN OFF CAR AND RESTART, THUS RESETTING THE COMPUTER. AND YES I DID THAT AND PROBLEM GONE. SO BASICALLY I THINK THAT THE TRANNY MAY HAVE AN ADAPITVE LEARNING MODULE FOR THE TRANNY THAT TELLS VALVES IN TRANNY WHEN TO SHIFT. AND I THINK THAT WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND WENT TO PASS SOMEONE I MUST HAVE GLITCHED THE COMPUTER WITH TO MUCH LOAD AT JUST THE WRONG TIME DURING A SHIFT. WHICH MADE THE COMPUTER ENGAGE THE SHIFT LATER THEN THE VALVEBODIES TO CREATE THAT CLUNK. I.E. WHEN YOUR CAR IS ABOUT TO SHIFT INTO 2ND GEAR AND YOU LEAVE YOUR FOOT OFF GAS AND THAN GAS IT AT EXACTLY THE TIME OF THE SHIFT YOU GET THAT CLUNK, ONLY NOT AS BAD AS WHAT I WAS EXPERIENCING. FROM WHAT I AM READING I WILL NOT EVEN BOTHER CALL THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS UNLESS THE PROBLEM CONTINUES AND GETS WORSE. BUT FOR NOW I WILL BE MINDFUL OF MY SHIFTS AND HOW I HIT THE GAS DURING MY SHIFTS. CANT WAIT TILL MY LEASE IS UP. NO HONDA FOR ME NEXT TIME. I AM ONLY 3 MONTHS INTO MY LEASE SO VERY SAD
I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY WITH NO ISSUES. AFTER GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY L I CAME TO A STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. UPON PROCEEDING AFTER THE LIGHT WHEN I WOULD ACCELERATE BETWEEN 15 & 20 MPH THE CAR STARTED TO JERK OR BUCK FORWARD WHEN GOING FROM 15 TO PAST 20 MPH. IT DID THIS AGAIN AT 25 TO 30 MPH. ONCE PAST THE 30 MPH SPEED I WAS OK AGAIN. THIS HAPPEN EACH AND EVERY TIME I WOULD STOP AND THEN PROCEED AGAIN.THE CAR WOULD JERK AND BUCK FORWARD WHILE GOING FROM 1ST GEAR TO 2ND GEAR. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT CAME ON. IT FELT EACH TIME AS IF I GOT HIT FROM BEHIND THAT IS HOW THE JERKING FORWARD FELT. I STOPPED THE CAR, DID NOT TURN IT OFF & PUT INTO PARK.WHEN I PUT IT BACK INTO DRIVE BEFORE REMOVING MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE THE CAR IN THE DRIVE MODE WAS STARTING TO REV FORWARD EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. I DID NOT TURN THE CAR OFF NOT KNOWING IF IT WOULD RESTART. I THEN PROCEEDED HOME AND THIS SAME ISSUE HAPPENED EACH AND EVERY TIME I WOULD STOP AND TRY TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. THIS IS DEFINITELY A POWER TRAIN ISSUE OF SOME SORT. I CONTACTED CLINTON HONDA SERVICE DEPT.OF CLINTON NJ ON 9/25 @ 6:45 PM TO REPORT MY PROBLEM. I SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER MARK AND HE STATED HE WAS UNAWARE OF ANY ISSUE THAT THERE WAS ABOUT THIS WITH THE 2015 ODYSSEY. I WILL BE AT THE DEALERSHIP ON 9/26/15 TO HAVE THE VEHICLE LOOKED AT. .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 71 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AND FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED INADVERTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DIAGNOSTIC RESULT WAS INCONCLUSIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MODIFIED FOR WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBILITY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 700.
THE AUTOMATIC SIDE DOOR ACCIDENTALLY CLOSED AND SQUEEZED ON A 7-YEAR-OLD CHILD'S FINGERS, AND COULD NOT BE OPENNED BY ANY METHOD. WE (AS PARENTS) TRIED ALL DOOR OPEN/CLOSE SWITCHES, DOOR REMOTE CONTROLS, AS WELL AS THE DOOR'S MANUAL HANDLE IN ORDER TO OPEN THE DOOR TO RELEASE THE CHILD'S HAND, BUT ALL EFFORT FAILED TO OPEN THE DOOR TO RELEASE THE CHILD'S FINGERS. THERE IS NO SAFETY MANUAL OVERRIDE (IN THE DOOR DESIGN) AT ALL THAT CAN DISENGAGE/DISCONNECT THE AUTOMATIC OPEN/CLOSE MECHANISM WHEN THE AUTOMATIC MECHANISM FAILS. THE CHILD FELT GREAT PAIN AND CRIED IN THE MEANWHILE. EVENTUALLY, AFTER 15 MINUTES, THE CHILD'S FINGERS SLIPPED OUT THE SQUEEZE. THE DOOR THEN FULLY CLOSED AND COULD THEN BE OPENED AGAIN BY AUTOMATICAL SWITCHES. THIS LACK OF MANUAL OVERRIDE OF THE DOOR'S AUTOMATIC OPEN/CLOSE CREATES HUGE DANGER FOR ANY CHILD. CAN THIS PRODUCT BE RECALLED TO FIX THE SAFETY HAZZARD BEFORE IT CAUSE FURTHER INJURY TO OTHER CHILDREN?
THE HEADREST FOR THE DRIVER'S SEAT IS MY PROBLEM. I HAVE TO LEAN MY HEAD FORWARD TO KEEP THE HEADREST FROM PUSHING MY HEAD FORWARD. THIS IS CAUSING ME TO HAVE NECK AND SHOULDER PAIN. I TRIED LEANING THE DRIVER'S SEAT BACK BUT THEN I HAD NO SUPPORT FOR MY BACK AND THAT CAUSED ME TO HAVE NECK AND SHOULDER PAIN. I NEED A HEADREST THAT I CAN ADJUST TO GO BACK FURTHER. ALSO, THE HEADRESTS ON THE 3RD ROW GO UP SO HIGH THAT VISIBILITY OUT OF THE BACK WINDOW IS OBSCURED AND I FOUND THAT I COULD ONLY USE MY SIDE VIEW MIRRORS.
ON AUGUST 9, 2015, WE WERE DRIVING HOME FROM VACATION FROM CEDAR POINT, OHIO TO PITTSBURGH, PA. THIS IS ABOUT A 200 MILE TRIP. THE VEHICLE RAN SMOOTHLY THE ENTIRE TRIP UNTIL I LEFT THE TURNPIKE OF DRIVING 60-70 MILES PER HOUR AND THEN BEGAN DRIVING ON A ROAD WITH A 40 MPH SPEED LIMIT. ALL OF A SUDDEN I WAS AT A RED LIGHT WAITING IN TRAFFIC. AS SOON AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR. WE BEGAN ACCELERATING TO 25 MILES PER HOUR BUT KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG. MY CAR WOULD NOT LEAVE FIRST GEAR. THE GAUGE ON THE DASHBOARD WENT FROM 1-7 GEAR BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. I WAS IN THE PASSING LANE TRAVELING 15-20 MILES PER HOUR IN A 40MPH ZONE. I THEN PROCEEDED TO CHANGE LANES WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENTIRE CAR JUMPED AS IF IT HAD A MIND OF ITS OWN AND BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. THE CAR BEGAN DRIVING FASTER BUT NOT ANY FASTER THAN 40 MPH. AGAIN, ALL WE COULD HEAR WAS ROOOOOOOM AND THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR LOOKED LIKE WINDSHIELD WIPERS GOING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. THE CAR WOULD NOT LEAVE 2ND GEAR. THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN OVER AND OVER AGAIN AT EACH RED LIGHT. SINCE THIS WAS A SUNDAY, THE SERVICE CENTER WAS CLOSED. IT WASN'T UNTIL WEDNESDAY THAT THE DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO TAKE A LOOK AT MY VEHICLE. SINCE NO SENSORS INDICATED A PROBLEM, THEY STATED THERE WAS NOT A PROBLEM AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I AM NOT FABRICATING THIS INCIDENT ONE BIT AND AM AFRAID OF THIS HAPPENING AGAIN BUT HAVING A DIFFERENT OUTCOME. IF I EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM AND THE DEALERSHIP DISMISSED ME BECAUSE A SENSOR DID NOT INDICATE A PROBLEM, WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR A SENSOR TO TRIGGER? THIS IS A LEASED VEHICLE OF 1 MONTH AND I AM VERY CONCERNED OF IT HAPPENING AGAIN OR WORSE. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER OF 3 AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN AND MYSELF IN A 1 MONTH OLD VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 2,000 MILES.
WHILE ACCELERATING AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, THE CAR MADE A CLUNKING NOISE AND THE CAR JERKED SEVERELY AS WE ACCELERATED INTO GEAR. IT HAPPENED AT LEAST 2 MORE TIMES AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A COUPLE OF STOP SIGNS. IT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING WHEN IT HAPPENED AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE DRIVER'S ATTENTION IS TAKEN AWAY WHEN IT HAPPENS. THE SCARIEST PART IS NOT KNOWING WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN. WHEN THERE IS A NEED TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY ACROSS TRAFFIC, WE ARE WORRIED THE SAME THING WILL HAPPEN AGAIN OR THAT THE CAR WON'T MAKE IT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WHILE THE ISSUE IS OUTSTANDING. THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE ISSUE THAT HAVING READ OTHER FORUMS IS HAPPENING TO OTHERS WITH 2014 AND 2015 ODYSSEY'S AND THE DEALERSHIPS ARE BOT UNDERSTANDING THE CAUSE OR FIX FOR THE ISSUE DUE TO IT HAPPENING SPORADICALLY. THIS CALLS FOR ACTION BEFORE IT LEADS TO SOMEONE BEING HARMED. IT'S A MAJOR ISSUE AND PRESSURE NEEDS PUT ON HONDA TO FIX THE ISSUE!
THIS WAS OUR FIRST EXPERIENCE DRIVING OUR NEW 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY AFTER DARK. IT WAS FRIGHTENING WHEN WE FOUND OURSELVES ON A FAMILIAR COUNTRY ROAD AND UNABLE TO SEE THE USUAL LANDMARKS WHICH TELL US WHERE WE ARE. THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS. ILLUMINATED VISION IS VERY BRIGHT ON THE ROAD CLOSE TO THE VEHICLE BUT THERE IS A LINE MIDWAY UP THE WINDSHIELD ABOVE WHICH IT IS TOTALLY BLACK. THIS LINE BOBS UP AND DOWN WITH CURVES AND DIPS IN THE ROAD IN A DISTRACTING MANNER WHICH PREVENTS YOUR VISION FOCUSING. THE LIGHT ALSO DOES NOT EXTEND VERY FAR IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE EVEN ON FLAT PARTS OF THE ROAD. THIS IS BEGGING FOR AN ACCIDENT. WE COULD EASILY HAVE HIT A DEER OR EVEN A HUMAN BEING WALKING OR BICYCLING ON THE ROAD HAD THERE BEEN ONE. WE STOPPED DRIVING AFTER DARK UNTIL WE COULD GET AN APPOINTMENT WITH OUR DEALERSHIP. OUR DEALER'S MECHANIC INFORMED US THAT CANNOT BE FIXED. HE ALSO SAID THE CHEVY MALIBU HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE LOCATED AN ONLINE FORUM WHERE THE SAME PROBLEM IS DESCRIBED FOR A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY AND HONDA'S RESPONSE TO THEM WAS THE SAME AS TO US. HTTP://ANSWERS.EDMUNDS.COM/QUESTION-2011-HONDA-ODYSSEY-EX-HEADLIGHTS-AIM-LOW-IS-EASY-FIX-CAN-ROAD-ENOUGH-112164.ASPX. HONDA IS OBVIOUSLY AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND HAS NOT ADDRESSED IT FOR 5 VEHICLE SEASONS. WE WERE NOT INFORMED OF THIS "DESIGN FLAW" WHEN WE PURCHASED THE CAR. EITHER THE PROBLEM SHOULD BE FIXED OR A DISCLOSURE MADE TO THE CUSTOMER. WE OWNED AND DROVE A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY FOR 6 YEARS AND THE HEADLIGHTS, LOW AND HIGH BEAM, WERE THE BEST WE EVER EXPERIENCED. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AFTER DARK EXCEPT IN ILLUMINATED AREAS OR BEHIND ANOTHER VEHICLE USING ITS LIGHTS. HONDA SHOULDN'T BE WAITING TO COLLECT ENOUGH BODIES TO NECESSITATE ACTION.
I WAS DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AND ONCE I STOPPED AND ACCELERATED BETWEEN 10 - 20 MPH THE CAR WOULD MAKE A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE AND THE CAR WOULD SHAKE AS IF THE CAR WAS SLIPPING GEARS, AND THEN WOULD DRIVE FINE. ONCE I STOPPED AGAIN AND ACCELERATED IT WOULD DO THE SAME THING. IT DID THIS 6 TIMES IN A ROW SO I PULLED OVER AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE ISSUE, NO CODES OR ERRORS COULD BE SEEN, AND THE CAR HAD THE LATEST SOFTWARE UPDATE. I REQUESTED THE DEALER HOLD ONTO THE CAR FOR TWO DAYS TO TRY AND REPLICATE THE ISSUE. AWAITING RESULTS.
WE WERE DRIVING DOWN A MAIN ROAD SPEED APPROX 45MPH, IT WAS 90-94 DEGREES OUT SO AC WAS ON AND IT WAS A SEVERE RAIN STORM. WE HAD JUST LEFT THE HIGHWAY AND WERE ON A MAIN ROAD HIGHLY TRAVELED. WE NOTICED IT WAS WARM IN THE CAR AND THE AC WAS BLOWING HOT. ALL THE SUDDEN IT WAS FOGGING THE WINDOWS ON THE INSIDE. WE HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER IN THE MIDDLE OF A STORM BECAUSE WE COULD NOT SEE AND WITH THE DEFROSTER ON IT WAS FOGGING THE WINDOW WORSE. WE HAD OUR 2 CHILDREN IN THE BACK OF THE VAN WHO WERE SCARED OUT OF THEIR WITS WE WOULD BE REAR ENDED DURING THE STORM. WE MANAGED TO FIND A TOWEL WIPE THE WINDOW AND PULL INTO A TIRE/OIL CHANGE PLACE UP THE ROAD. THEY CHECKED THE CAR AND SAID DUE TO THE RAIN THE AC CONDENSOR STOPPED WORKING AND WE HAD AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THEY COULD NOT FIX. WE WOULD NEED THE DEALER IN THE MORNING. WHEN WE WOKE IN THE AM THE VAN HAD DRIED AND THE AC WORKED AGAIN WE RETURNED HOME AND TOOK TO OUR LOCAL DEALER WITH AN APPT 07/03/15 WHO ADVISED US SINCE IT WORKS NOW THEIR IS NOTHING WE CAN DO. WE LIVE IN A STATE THAT RAINS DAILY AND ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR IN THE RAIN NOW. DEALER STATES IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER LEMON LAW AS IT WAS NOT LIFE THREATENING, LACK OF VISIBILTY TO US IS LIFE THREATENING. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS.
BOTH FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS HAVE GONE OUT AND THE CAR DOESN'T HAVE MORE THAN 2000 MILES ON IT.
SUNROOF SHATTERED OUTWARD, NO OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD ELIMINATING THE POSSIBILITY OF ROAD DEBRIS CAUSING THE INCIDENT. OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE 65 DEGREES.
WE EMBARKED ON AN 8806 MILE, 22 DAY ROAD TRIP THROUGH THE SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST TO THE MIDWEST WITH OUR NEW 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY EX. DRIVING WAS DONE DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS ONLY WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTS AS HIGH AS THEY COULD BE SET. ALL WINDOWS ARE TINTED. 21 OF THE DAYS WERE BRIGHT AND SUNNY. WE COULD NOT SEE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAY ON BRIGHT DAYS. NEITHER THE SPEEDOMETER OR THE TACHOMETER WERE READABLE. MY WIFE MONITORED OUR SPEED WITH A GARMIN GPS. THIS CLUSTER HAS WHITE NUMERALS AND A PALE GREY BACKGROUND. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW WHICH MAKES OPERATION UNSAFE ON BRIGHT DAYS.
ABOUT 1:30 PM, MAY 23, 2015, I WAS DRIVING MY NEW 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY EX ON EAST BOUND OF RT 529 (PLAINFILD AVE) TO RT 1 IN EDISON, NJ, THE LEFT REAR BACK MICHELIN TIRE BLEW OUT ABOUT 100 YARDS AWAY FROM THE INTERSECTION. THERE WAS NOTHING ON THE ROAD. NOTHING WAS FOUND ON THE TIRE. I CALLED INSURANCE COMPANY, TOWING COMPANY, AND FINALLY I FOUND THAT A NISSAN DEALER IN RT 1 WAS JUST 200 YARDS AWAY. I SLOWLY DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, REPLACED THE SPARE TIRE. ON WEDNESDAY, I REPLACED A NEW MICHELIN SAME TIRE IN SWEENEY'S GULF AT EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ. THURSDAY, I WENT TO AUTOSPORT HONDA DEALER AT BRIDGEWATER, NJ WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE LAST OCTOBER. BUT THE DEALER AT FIRST DENIED THE TIRE HAD DEFECT, THEN THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY DIDN'T HANDLE THE TIRE WARRANTY, I HAD TO GO MICHELIN DEALER. ON FRIDAY, MAY 26, I WENT TO A MICHELIN DEALER IN OLD BRIDGE, NJ. THE STAFF TOLD ME THAT I HAD TO CALL MICHELIN TO SEE WHAT I SHOULD DO. I CALLED AND EMAILED MICHELIN. FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTION, I WENT TO STS ON RT 18 TO CHECK. TODD CHECKED THE TIRE AND THE RIM, TOLD ME THAT THE TIRE HIT SOMETHING, WHICH CUT THE TIRE, NOT THE DEFECT BECAUSE HE SAW A SESAME BIG MARK ON THE EDGE OF THE RIM, WHICH CAUSED THE BLOW OUT. BUT HE COULDN'T ANSWER MY QUESTIONS: WHY THE FRONT TIRE WAS FINE? WHY THE TIRE NEAR THE RIM WAS NO ANY DAMAGE, THE BLOWOUT WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SIDE OF THE TIRE, 3 INCHES AWAY FROM THE MARK ON THE RIM? WHY THE SHAP OF THE BLOWOUT WAS A IRREGULAR CURVE CRACK, NO STRAIGHT CUTTING EDGE AS HE SAID THAT SOMETHING CUT THE TIRE? I DIDN'T FEEL I HIT ANYTHING. I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING ON THE ROAD. I STAYED THERE FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR BEFORE I TOOK MY CAR TO NISSAN DEALER. 529 IS A BUSY ROAD, AT LEAST HUNDREDS CARS PASSED IN ONE HOUR, NO ONE BLEW OUT. IT OBVIOUS THAT EITHER NOTHING ON THE ROAD, OR SOME TINY THING WHICH SHOULD NOT CAUSE A TIRE BLOWOUT. SO IT IS A DEFECT WHICH CAUSED THE BLOWOUT.
SECURITY ALARM GOING OFF AT RANDOM TIMES. INITIALLY, UNLOCKED AND LOCKED WITH REMOTE. IT WENT OFF AGAIN MULTIPLE TIME BY ITSELF NOTHING TOUCHING IT OR ANY DOOR BEING OPENED. SEEMS IT IS KNOWN WIDE SPREAD ISSUE WITH HOOD SWITCH AND OTHER SWITCHES CAUSING ALARMS. HAVE TO LEAVE THE CAR UNLOCKED OVER NIGHT BECAUSE IT WENT OFF MID NIGHT FEW TIMES. DEALER SAID IT SEEMS IT IS HOOD SWITCH(BASED ON DIAG), BUT DID NOT HAPPEN WHEN IT WAS AT DEALERSHIP. NO PARTS AVAILABLE, SO HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL PARTS COME IN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, A BURNING ODOR EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE AND FELT AS IF IT WERE GOING TO STALL. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
WHEN THE ECO BUTTON TURNS ON, THE TRANSMISSION STARTS TO MAKE A RATTLING NOISE AND IT CHANGES HOW THE CAR DRIVES. THE STEERING WHEEL AND FOOT PETAL START TO SHAKE OR TREMBLE. ALSO, THE SUSPENSION ON THE CAR IS EXTREMELY NOISY AND HONDA HAS FAILED TO FIX IT. LASTLY AND THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE THIS CAR HAS, IS THAT THE GASOLINE MOVES AROUND IN THE CAR AS YOU DRIVE OR PARK YOUR CAR. YOU CAN HEAR THE GASOLINE SWOOSHING AROUND ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR AT ALL TIMES. I'VE TAKEN THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES TO BY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY CANNOT FIX ANYTHING. THEY STATE THAT EVERYTHING IS A "CHARACTERISTIC DESIGN" WITH THE CAR. ACCORDING TO THE HONDA REPRESENTATIVE THAT RODE IN OUR CAR, THEY HAVE HAD COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION, SUSPENSION AND GASOLINE ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE SUN ROOF EXPLODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,200.
RAIN WATER LEAKING THROUGH WINDOWS AND OUT OF THE ELECTRICAL CONDUIT ENTERING INTO AUTO CAVITY WHERE THE SLIDING DOOR MECHANISM IS. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT A FIRE HAZARD, SHOULD I BE? PLEASE RESPOND AS SOON AS YOU CAN AS I HAVE TRIED ELSE WHERE AND MY PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU. THANK YOU KINDLY *TR
ON FEBRUARY 1, 2015, VDC (VEHICLE DYNAMIC CONTROL), LDW (LANE DEPARTURE WARNING), AND FCW (FORWARD COLLISION WARNING) ALL FAILED SIMULTANEOUSLY WHILE DRIVING CONSERVATIVELY AT 25 MPH ON SNOW COVERED ROADS DURING HEAVY SNOW FALL. ALL THREE SYSTEMS REMAINED FAILED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE KEY CYCLE, WHICH WAS APPROXIMATELY 45 MINUTES. DURING OTHER DRIVING LATER THAT DAY, LDW AND FCW RECOVERED, AND THOSE LIGHTS WENT OUT ON THE DASH, BUT VDC REMAINED FAILED. THE VAN SAT FOR A WEEK, THEN I DROVE IT AGAIN ON FRIDAY FEBRUARY, 6, 2015, FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES. AT THE VERY END OF THAT TRIP, THE VDC RECOVERED, AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF. I WENT TO GERMAIN HONDA OF ANN ARBOR, MI TO HAVE THE TROUBLE CODES READ. THEY TOLD ME THERE WERE NO CODES STORED. *TR
VERY LOUD CLUNK NOISE AND VEHICLE JERKS WHEN SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR GOING APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES. COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AFTER ENGINE RESTART. NOT ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR WITH VEHICLE OVER $40K AND UNDER 1K MILES OF USE. *TR
I JUST RECENTLY BOUGHT A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY (JAN.2015) AND AT AROUND 1700 MILES I FELT A DOUBLE CLUNKING SOUND/JERK WHEN I WAS GOING AT ABOUT 15 MPH TO 20 MPH. I KEPT RIDING MY VAN STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER AND EVERY TIME I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, AND STARTED UP AGAIN, IT WOULD MAKE THE SAME LOUD CLUNK WHEN SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND AT AROUND 20 MPH. MY BIGGEST MISTAKE WAS TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE DEALER, AS WHEN YOU DO THAT, THE ISSUE GOES AWAY (I WISH I KNEW THIS ISSUE THE FIRST TIME, CAUSE NOW HONDA HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM). IT HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES AND MY VAN HAS ABOUT 2800 MILES. THE THIRD TIME IT HAPPENED WAS LATE IN THE DAY, SERVICE DEPT. WAS CLOSED, SO NO LUCK THERE. I JUST WENT AHEAD AND RECORDED THE ANOMALY AS I WAS DRIVING IT. AFTER A FEW SHOTS OF IT, I PULLED OVER, RE-STARTED THE VAN/ENGINE (AS I KNOW THAT CLEARS UP THE ISSUE) AND AFTER THAT IT CONTINUED AS NOTHING EVER HAPPENED (I ALSO RECORDED THAT TOO TO SHOW THE DEALER). I EMAILED THE ASSISTANT MANAGER AT MY LOCAL HONDA SERVICE DEPT AND ATTACHED THE VIDEOS. HOPEFULLY,THEY WILL COME WITH A SOLUTION SOON, AS THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ANOMALY. I FOUND OUT THAT THERE ARE SYNCHRO SENSORS IN ALL HONDA TRANSMISSIONS, ONE FOR EVERY SHIFT. WELL, IT SOUNDS LIKE THE SYNCHRO SENSOR THAT GOES FROM 1ST TO 2ND IS THE ONE ACTING UP. I MENTIONED THAT TO THE TECHS AT HONDA AND HOPEFULLY THEY WILL LOOK INTO IT. NO RHYME OR REASON, JUST DOES IT AND HONDA KEEPS SAYING THAT THERE'S NOTHING WRONG, AND NOTHING SHOWS ON THEIR COMPUTER WHEN THEY PLUG IN THE DIAGNOSTICS SYSTEM TO THE VAN. *TR
BRAND NEW 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY OUT OF DEALERSHIP, THERE WAS A HISSING SOUND IN THE STEERING HUB (PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY). DEALER CHECKED AND INFORMED AN ISSUE WITH AIRBAG ASSEMBLY. AFTER ALL THESE RECALLS, ISSUE IN 2015 MODEL IS THE LAST THING TO EXPECT! SAFETY HAZARD AND VERY DISAPPOINTING. SHOULD HAVE STUCK TO MY TIME TESTED TOYOTA! *JS
IT WAS LITTLE COLD NIGHT. I DROVE ON FREEWAY FOR 40MINUTES WITH KIDS WITHOUT CENTRAL HEATING. WHEN WE GOT HOME, I WAKE THEM UP.I FOUND MY YOUNG DAUGHTER AT BACK SEAT, SHE COULDN'T WAKE UP UNUSUALLY. SHE WAS SLEEPING, LEANING TOWARD RT. SIDE CUP HOLDER SIDE AT BACK SEAT. I SAW HER FACE WAS SO RED LIKE FIRST DEGREE BURN AND HER HAIR WAS ALL WET AND HER BODY WAS SO SWEATING. IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE THAT THE WHOLE SURFACE NEXT TO RT. BACK SEAT WAS EXTREMELY HOT!!! EVEN THOUGH THE VAN ENGINE WAS STOPPED. I IMMEDIATELY TRIED TO HER COOL DOWN. MY KIDS TOLD ME. "EVER SINCE WE BOUGHT THIS VAN, WHEN THE VAN'S ENGINE WAS TURNING ON, BACK SEAT RT. SIDE BODY WAS ALWAYS HOT." NEXT MORNING, I TOOK THE VAN TO HONDA SERVICE. BUT IT COULD NOT FIXED FOR 3DAYS AND NO ONE CALLED ME FOR UPDATING INFO. THE VAN IS STILL IN THE SERVICE. ONE OF TECHNICIAN TOLD ME FROM THE SERVICE, IT HAS BEEN PROBLEMS FOR 4YEARS. I CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE, BUT NO ANSWER. I AM TRYING TO ASK THEM BUY BACK PROGRAM. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR FAMILY WITH YOUNG CHILDREN. THIS IS NOT FIRST TIME PROBLEM FOR THIS NEW VAN. I ALREADY HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS. 1. IT WAS NOT STARTING ENGINE SEVERAL TIMES ON THE 1ST WEEK OF PURCHASE. 2. BRAKE WAS COMPLETELY NOT MOVING MORE THAN ONE HOUR AND NOT STARTING ENGINE TOGETHER ON THE 2ND WEEK OF PURCHASE IN THE PARKING LOT. 3. CLICKING AND CLUCKING NOISE AT REAR OF LT. SIDE WITH RT. TURNING WITH BRAKE ALL THE TIMES. 4. THE VAN'S HORN BY ITSELF MAKING NOISE FOR 20MINUTES ON FREEWAY DRIVING. THE HONDA SERVICE COULDN'T FIND THE CAUSES. THEY JUST REMOVED VAN'S SECURITY ALARM. HONDA SERVICE DIDN'T ALLOW ME FOR A RENTAL VAN. I AM EXPECTING HONDA'S IMMEDIATE AND APPROPRIATE CUSTOMER CARE FOR BUY BACK PROGRAM. UNTIL NOW, THIS BRAND NEW VAN WENT TO 9TIMES SERVICES FOR 3MONTHS WITHOUT FIXING, 11DAYS IN THE SERVICE, OUR FAMILY ARE VERY HAVING HARD TIME FOR NORMAL LIVING LIFE WITH KIDS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC FOR AN HOUR OR SO, IN FIRST OR SECOND GEAR. AFTER A WHILE, ANYTIME WE WOULD ACCELERATE TO ABOUT 20 MPH, WE EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT JERKING AS IF WE JUST RAN OVER SOMETHING. THIS HAPPENED CONSISTENTLY EVERY TIME WE ACCELERATED TO OR DECELERATED TO 20MPH. TOOK IT INTO HONDA THE NEXT DAY AND THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. THE JERKING WAS VERY STRONG AND CONSISTENT FOR ABOUT AN HOUR OR DRIVING. WE ARE STILL PLANNING TO CALL HONDA, IT SEEMS LIKE OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE BUT NO ROOT CAUSE HAS BEEN FOUND. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED, THE BRAKE PEDAL SANK TO THE FLOOR BOARD ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE BRAKE FAILURE. HOWEVER, THE DEALER ADVISED THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS OPERATING AS NORMAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT NO LONGER DRIVES THE VEHICLE TO AVOID A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300. UPDATED 11/24/14*LJ THE DEALER MADE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS. UPDATED 01/27/15. *JB
HAD PROBLEMS STARTING THE VEHICLE EARLIER IN THE DAY - INFO DISPLAY SHOWED A WARNING ABOUT MULTIPLE SYSTEMS AND WOULDN'T START THE ENGINE. HONDA INVESTIGATED, NO FAULT FOUND, BUT "TWO CELLS IN BATTERY LOW." THEY PROVIDED A PROBABLE CAUSE OF "SOME LIGHT LEFT ON IN THE CAR WHICH DRAINED THE BATTERY" (WHICH WE KNEW NOT TO BE THE CASE). SAME FAULT OCCURRED AFTER LEAVING DEALERSHIP, TURNED OFF AND ON A COUPLE OF TIMES, AND THEN IT RESTARTED. DRIVING HOME AT APPROXIMATELY 45MPH THE CAR TURNED ITSELF OFF - NO POWER STEERING ASSIST AND NO GAS PEDAL. MANAGED TO WRESTLE THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. MANAGED TO START VEHICLE AGAIN AFTER 5 - 10 MINUTES, BUT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THIS TIME. *TR
I DID NOT HAVE AN AIR BAG INCIDENT. I BOUGHT A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY TWO WEEKS AGO. I READ THE NYT ARTICLE TODAY, AND CALLED HONDA TO FIND OUT WHETHER THE AIR BAGS INSTALLED IN MY CAR ARE TAKATA. HONDA DECLINED TO TELL ME, STATING THAT THEY DON'T GIVE THAT INFORMATION TO CONSUMERS UNLESS THEIR SPECIFIC VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO RECALL. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE ISSUES LEADING TO THE RECALLS SEEM SHROUDED IN NON-DISCLOSURE, AND THAT CONSUMERS SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND OUT INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR VEHICLES. *TR

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2011-2016 Odyssey vehicles manufactured August 17, 2010, to October 1, 2015. The affected vehicles have second row outboard seats that have a release lever that allows the seats to move for easier access to the third row of seats. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2011-2017 Honda Odyssey vehicles. The second row outboard seats can slide sideways to one of two positions. If a seat is placed between either of the two positions when attaching the seat to the vehicle floor, the seat will not latch properly to the seat striker, allowing the seat to tip forward unexpectedly during braking.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Honda Odyssey vehicles. The second row outboard seats have a lever to fold the seatback and slide the seat forward to access the third row seats. Due to a manufacturing error, if the walk-in release lever is used to fold a fully reclined left outboard seatback forward, the seatback may stay in the unlocked position (free-folding) or unexpectedly unlock without engaging the walk-in or recliner lever.
