The navigation/backup camera screen gets stuck on the loading page. This problem began right after the warranty period ended, which appears to be a common complaint on the message boards. When it first became a problem, it eventually would load, but would take approximately 15 minutes. Now, it fails to load at all (just continuously displays "loading"), which renders the backup camera, navigation system, maps, radio, satellite, clock and all associated controls useless. A backup camera is essential for me--I will not drive a car without one, since it a safety concern due to kyphosis. Having the navigation on a large screen (versus my phone or a printed map) is another reason I chose this car. So, not repairing it is not an option. It is a safety issue. When trying to find a solution, I found hundreds upon hundreds of complaints for the same issue with the same model as my car. The dealership also was aware of it. So, I figured I would report it since it is so common, hoping to save others from the $1000+ bill I received to repair it.
My car shut down while traveling at a normal speed on a freeway and I had to pull over as it slowed down. This was unsafe on a busy highway while I waited 3 hours to be towed. The car dealer service center stated a faulty connecting rod bearing failure caused the problem and requires a new engine to be installed. There were no warning lights or sounds prior to the problem. Regular maintenance was done including an oil change and filter within the 6month recommendation. The dealership said there was no oil and the engine seized.
The engine completely failed while driving on the highway. The check engine light appeared approximately 20 minutes prior to event. Vehicle was serviced regularly, Including at a hyundai dealership in July. Per our independent mechanic the engine seized up. The engine is available upon request.
Per the Theta Engine Recall Settlement, I had the recall work performed on my 2015 Hyundai Sante Fe on August 23, 2021. Roughly in October, the oil light faded on and off on the dashboard. I pulled into the Autozone and purchased 1 Quart of engine oil. I checked the dipstick in the parking lot and added the quart to the proper fill line of the engine dipstick. On 11/11/2021, while driving my vehicle, without any warning, the engine stopped and shut the car off in traffic. The oil light, check engine light, and service light came on then went off. I attempted 5 times to restart the engine before it would run. I took it to a Midas Auto shop where the diagnostic advised the engine failed and was damaged. I had the vehicle towed to Larry H. Miller Hyundai in Peoria, AZ 85382. The diagnostics indicated that the engine failed as was due to the fact of the Theta Class Engine Recall. The mechanic, service manager, and service advisor took notes and photographs of the valve train on the engine block. They advised the vehicle engine was damaged and needed replacement. They advised they did not find any indications of lack of maintenance. The engine was low on oil as it is apparent that the engine was more likely running hot. Hyundai Motors has denied the extended warranty claim (even though the recall updates have been completed prior to the engine failure). I have appealed within the company for the replacement of the engine but Hyundai is continuing to deny the claims. The dealership has advised other customers are being denied for the same reason just due to gaps in service records even though there are no indications of wear of the engine. Hyundai has since tried to settle the claim with me for $500.00 to release the company from any liability that the HMA failed to conform the vehicle to warranty in connection fo my concerns and history repair.
Shortly after getting on the freeway the car suddenly decelerated and came to a complete stop. I was able to pull onto the shoulder just in time. The engine died and would not restart. My daughter and I were in a very dangerous situation that could have been tragic. The car was towed to a mechanic that confirmed the engine had seized and a whole new motor is needed.
On September 4, 2021 at approximately 11:30pm, my vehicle suffered a catastrophic engine failure while driving on a busy freeway in Southern California. There was no warning, only an immediate power lost and inability to accelerate, followed by a flashing check engine light and a chiming alert bell. My husband was driving and he was able to make it across 3 busy traffic lanes to the emergency lane. The sudden lost of power and the inability to accelerate created a significant danger on this busy freeway, California State Route 91. I believe we could have caused a significant accident on that freeway if we had not been able to pull over to the emergency lane in time. Since this incident, I learned through my own online research, that my vehicle was included in a class-action lawsuit which was settled on June 10, 2021. I purchased my vehicle used in late January 2021, and I was never informed of the danger the Theta II GDI engine in my vehicle posed. My engine was replaced under the Lifetime Warranty provided by the Settlement Agreement, however, I am very concerned that the hazards that this vehicle posed to my family was never revealed by the dealer I purchased it from or by Hyundai in the months following my purchase. I hope something can be done to warn other used car buyers at the time they purchase a vehicle involved in this this Class-Action Settlement of the dangers the engine poses.
While driving my car on the highway, the entire electrical system shut-down including my cruise control, GPS, radio etc. Also on this same trip, the engine completely stopped (also while on the highway). Luckily I was just turning off an exit ramp and was able to barely steer it to the side of the road. The starter light was still on, but the vehicle was completely dead. Had to punch the starter light again to turn it off and then back on again. A second incident occurred while my husband was driving my car in the city just this past week. Driving on streets (not highway driving) and the car shut down unexpectedly 4 different times: once climbing a hill; once trying to pass another driver; twice for no reason. I've taken this to the dealer since it's still covered under extended warranty but since they can't find any issues, the next time I take this in it will cost me money. Of course, since the engine completely stops, nothing is recorded with sensors or computers. Help please.
At around 55,000 miles, my family vehicle displayed signs of concern by rattling and shaking- especially when I would turn the vehicle. When bringing it for regularly oil maintenance my mechanic had me listen to clear signs of distress within the engine. Knowing I drive my two children with me regularly in this vehicle, he asked me to bring it to Hyundai’s local dealership. On 3/12/2020, I waited approximately an hour and a half to be seen for my scheduled appointment only to be shooed away and told there is no issue. Nobody bothered to run testing or evaluate the issue besides a quick walk by. 7 months later, the problem has worsened and continues to leave me worried that my children and I will be left stranded due to an unreliable engine. The shaking has worsened and the car has produced concerning smells of burning. Hyundai finally admitted that I do need a new engine, but since I am not the original owner, they are not providing replacement. Hyundai engines appear to be a problem in many instances, and I fear this is another situation. Engine failure at 55,000 miles on a 5 year old car is unacceptable and proves safety is not on the forefront of Hyundai’s mission. I appreciate any assistance recalling Santa Fe engines on the 2015 model so the many families who drive this vehicle can do so safely.
On July 14, 2021, while the vehicle was MOVING, the cable in the spare tire hoist snapped resulting in the spare tire dropping to the ground and getting wedged between the ground and the trailer hitch. Fortunately, this occurred on a side street and the net effect was that the spare tire was partially dislodged from metal wheel and the wheel was knocked slightly out of round. Had this failure happened on the freeway, it could have been a very serious accident, perhaps even a fatality for us or other drivers on the road. This vehicle is kept in a garage, has never been used for off-roading and the spare tire has never been removed/used. Our local Hyundai service department confirmed that there was no observable indicator that would have caused this to happen. There were no noises, warning lights or symptoms prior to the cable snapping.
I do not know to the best of my knowledge but I do know at 80,000 miles my mechanic did a full plus and coil pack change and I’m not due for an oil change for 2000 miles but for some reason my 3rd cylinder is failing and they can’t figure it out so I’m having it taken back to the dealership.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would hesitate and jerk upon the depression of the accelerator pedal. Recently, the contact stated that the vehicle would shut off without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle would immediately restart after failure. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
While driving home from work on a busy highway, the vehicle engine stopped without a warning. No noises no warning lights nothing. I am fortunate that I was in traffic and no one was behind me driving the normal 50 mph speed limit or I would have been severely injured. I was able to pull the car to the side of the road. The car would not turn over when pressing the ignition switch. The car was towed to a local repair shop and they thought it to be the starter, so that was replaced. They got the car to start, but it only ran with a very loud noise coming from the engine for approximately 20 minutes. The car no longer will turn over. It has now been towed again to a local Hyundai dealership and is awaiting a diagnosis. The local repair shop called again today letting us know that they just had another Hyundai Santa Fe in for the exact same issue and they have taken that car as well to the local dealership. There was no warning light, there were no loud noises from the engine, no smoke, nothing, it just stopped while I was driving it. I have had no issues with this vehicle, we have owned it for approximately 3 years and it has just over 100,000 miles on it. Doing research it appears that many others who own a 2015 Santa Fe are reporting the same problems. I will continue to research and escalate a consumer investigation into this issue.
The car stalled and reduced speed immediately from 30 mph to about 5 mph or less. it did not accelerate i had to pull over and tow to dealership. Car has a knocking noise also. this is two signs of the engine bearing and/or connecting rod bearing wear in the santa fes. Hyundai refused my claim to replace engine because the dealership could not replicate the problem. the car turned on again and drove fine according to the dealership. I do not feel safe driving the car, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR LIKE THIS, THE CAR COULD STALL IN THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH AND COULD CAUSE A CRASH HARMING MYSELF AND OTHERS. ACCORDING TO HYUNDAI WEBSITE IF CONTINUING TO DRIVE THE CAR IT COULD ALSO CAUSE A FIRE DUE TO MORE DAMAGE TO THE CONNECTING ROD. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO RECALL ALL 2015 SANTA FE VEHICLES AND REPLACE ENGINE. MY ENGINE WAS ALREADY REPLACED IN 2020 AND NOW IS HAVING PROBLEMS AGAIN.
2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited Ultimate 3.3L Vin F 114,441 miles No prior mechanical issues, pulled out on busy highway and pushed the gas pedal to merge into traffic. Upon pushing the gas pedal the car revved high rpms but would only go 5 mph. I was afraid I was going to get rear ended so quickly pulled off the road. Pulled off the road and restarted the car, the check engine light came on and the engine was shuddering and shaking. Put car in drive and there was no power took about 300 feet to get vehicle up to 30mph. Upon driving further had smell of exhaust fumes. Took the vehicle to the Courtesy Hyundai in Tampa and awaited the diagnosis on 5/22. Initial codes P0018, P2A03, and P0088 misfires on cylinders 2,4,6. Dealer said the CVVT Timing chain and tensioners were bad. I asked if I paid the $3800 if it would remedy the concerns. They told me only way to guarantee would be to put a used motor in the car. Compression was good in the engine. Service person said for $1500 more an engine was the best bet. We agreed told them to replace at $5400. Over the next few weeks we were told the engine was on order to later find out they had never ordered the engine. This happened twice, finally they said I would have to source the engine. After numerous lies, the service tech we learned was fired. The new engine quote came back at $8700. We had two separate cases with Hyundai USA the last being #18440449. I find it odd that the dealership had 50-60 Hyundai Sports awaiting replacement engines from Hyundai, yet they could never tell me what was wrong with my vehicle. Service tech of 23 years couldn't identify the issue. We removed the vehicle from the dealership on 7/31 wasting 10 weeks for no help from Hyundai. I believe Hyundai is having the same issue with the 3.3L as they are with the 2.4L Sport models.

On August 12th 2021, I was driving the engine started making a knocking/tapping sound. As I accelerated it sounded like something broke off, bounced around then shot out the bottom of my vehicle. My vehicle then started to smoke and leak oil all over the road. I pulled over and turned the engine off. We found the part that flew out of the engine, it was the connector rod. It had snapped off into two pieces and shot through the oil pan after passing through the engine causing irreparable damage. There were no warning signs, no check engine or oil lights, nothing. This happened out of the blue. Our safety as well as the safety of others were put at risk not only when the part flew out of the car and could have hit another vehicle, but it almost caught fire and it could have caused an accident had we nowhere to pull off the road, as traffic was heavy that day. This vehicle has been at the Hyundai dealership since August 13th 2021. It has been inspected and determined it in deed needs a new engine, the cause was connector rod failure.
Passenger airbag light flashes in the instrument panel, while passenger airbag indicator shows Off in amber color when a person is seated in the passenger seat.
Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2015 was making sounds when vehicle was off. The ABS warning lights were lit on the dashboard (3 warnings in total) once car was turned on. Drove home hoping the sound would go away but it did not. Once home the sound continued without the vehicle being on. Opened the hood and listened for the location of the sound. It was the ABS module on the left. This part then caught on fire while parked and off (keys were out).
The contact owned a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated while driving 25 mph, when he lost control of the vehicle and multiple warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated while attempting to park on the side of the road, he saw smoke entering the AC vents. The contact and his son (front passenger) were able to exit the vehicle before it exploded. The contact stated the fire was located in the front of the vehicle. The contact stated no one was injured nor sought medical attention. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire, but was unaware if a fire report was filed. The police report was filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The insurance company deemed the vehicle total loss. The vehicle was towed to a towing yard. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The contact stated two days after the incident, he received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V303000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) and associated the failure with this recall. The failure mileage was approximately 117,000.
On 5/28/21, while driving vehicle noticed a knocking/banging when in reverse then also began when driving. Took to local Midas dealer and was told rear differential gear was broken and needed repaired. Upon further research, Midas discovered that an upgraded coupler had been replaced on other Hyundai Santa Fe's as the old coupler wasn't protecting the gear. The coupler on my vehicle was therefore not protecting the gear in the rear differential causing it to break in half. I work in a manufacturing company (Honda of America) and could not miss work due to strict attendance policies. Local Hyundai dealership could not assist me in repair asap so had no choice but to have it repaired with Midas so that it would be ready for me to drive to work on Monday. Filed case with Hyundai to ask for reimbursement since vehicle wasn't recalled for defective coupler. They advised me to take to a local Hyundai dealership to ensure work was performed properly and correct parts were used. This cost us an additional $99 on top of the $5066 for the repair. Hyundai then told us after having the local dealership look at the work performed that because we didn't have it repaired at authorized dealership they could not provide assistance. After not accepting this response, I escalated the issue and was told Hyundai Consumer Affairs would contact us. We have yet to hear from them on any type of financial help with this costly repair that was through no fault of our own. This is a truly awful customer experience with Hyundai and am pursuing for some or all financial reimbursement.
I was driving on the highway with my 3 children (I am 9 months pregnant) when we heard a loud pop from the engine, the car gave a sudden jolt and then a loud ticking sound started. The car had a hard time accelerating as I tried to pull over to a safe location. I felt my life and my family's life was in danger. The car was taken first to a mechanic where I was informed that they had several cases with the same issue from the same vehicles recently and recommended us tow it immediately to a Hyundai dealership as it was a recall issue and it was not safe to drive. We towed it to a Hyundai dealership and they informed us that it was a rod barring failure. They informed us that there was indeed an open recall for this particular issue however it was on the Santa fe 2.4 liter models and not our 3.3 liter model. They did tell us that they tried to contact Hyundai consumer affairs since it is the same issue but that Hyundai refused to extend the recall to us. I called consumer affairs directly after and explained my concerns and situation and was told there was nothing they could do about it since there was no recall on my 3.3 liter vehicle. I was given an estimate of $9-10K as a quote to fix the issue. There were no warning lights, no prior symptoms to the failure, this simply happened unexpectedly and put my family at risk.
the remedy shown for the current recall is the same as the last recall. my vehicle was inspected as per last recall recommendation and no action was performed by the dealer. why is hyundai still using the same the same remedy as per recall 194 CUSTOMERS CAN CONTINUE DRIVING THESE VEHICLES; HOWEVER, DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF A FIRE ORIGINATING FROM THE ABS MODULE WHILE PARKED, HYUNDAI RECOMMENDS PARKING THESE VEHICLES OUTSIDE AND AWAY FROM STRUCTURES UNTIL THE RECALL REMEDY IS COMPLETED. HYUNDAI PLANS TO NOTIFY OWNERS TO BRING THEIR VEHICLES TO THE NEAREST HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION OF THE ABS MODULE AND IF NECESSARY, REPLACEMENT WITH A NEW ONE. IN ADDITION TO ABS MODULE INSPECTION, THE ABS MULTI-FUSE WILL BE REPLACED WITH A REVISED ONE TO MITIGATE THE RISK OF A FIRE CAUSED BY AN INTERNAL ELECTRICAL SHORT. THE REMEDY PROCEDURE WILL BE PERFORMED AT NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER. HYUNDAI WILL PROVIDE REIMBURSEMENT TO OWNERS FOR REPAIRS ACCORDING TO THE PLAN SUBMITTED TO NHTSA ON MAY 16, 2018.
My car engine caught fire on 04/18/2021 and totaled my car. I just received a recall notice from Hyundai for this issue via the USPS yesterday 06/29/2021. I had only 60,000 miles and expected to own this car another 3-5 years. I am out a new car payment and this could have burned my condo down as I was 2 blocks away from it driving home and routinely park in my garage.
ABS failed while merging causing a collision that ended up totaling my car.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle stalled and the two catalytic converters became inoperable. Additionally, the blue link screen failed to load and link the features. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed two catalytic converters that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 115,000.
Leak which may cause a fire. This is second recall for same problem. I feel unsafe while driving. They say if ABS light comes on to stop immediately. Unable to park in my garage or close to the house. No incidents as of now. I do not understand why this is taking so long and we are expected to drive an unsafe vehicle. Value of car has also dropped.
I was getting on the expressway and everything just seemed like it was on safety mode. My car gurgled, it wouldn't switch gears, the engine light kept flashing. I thought it was a transmission issue until I got it to a Firestone. They said the cylinder is missing on 2,4,6. And that there was a timing chain issue. The dealership says it sounds more like coils.... I'm experiencing all the same issues I'm reading about here. No warning, smelling something burning although no fire. The rpm kept going up at I'm giving gas but not the speed. It has 80,000. Why are only the sports models covered when there are so many cases of other models?
The sunroof screen will not close therefor is no protection if the sunroof were to shatter. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer. It is not covered by the warranty. There were no warnings prior to the incident. I have tried to close it regularly and it still won’t close.
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, ENGINE STARTED TO MAKE A RATTLING SOUND. THE SOUND GOT WORSE WHEN ACCELERATING ESPECIALLY IF I WAS ATTEMPTING TO GO UP A HILL.I TRIED TO MAKE IT TO A MECHANIC, BUT THE ENGINE DIED ON THE WAY WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE IT UP A BIG HILL AND WOULD NOT RESTART. I HAD IT TOWED TO A SHOP, THEY SAID THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE CAR DESPITE THE FACT THAT WE ALWAYS HAD OUR OIL CHANGED REGULARLY. THERE WAS NO SIGN OF A LEAK. THEY HAD TO PUT THREE QUARTS IN IT JUST FOR ANYTHING TO SHOW ON THE DIPSTICK. THE SHOP THAT I TOOK IT TO DID NOT DO ENGINE REPAIR AND RECOMMENDED THAT I HAD IT TAKEN SOME PLACE TO HAVE THE ENGINE REBUILT. THEIR THEORY WAS IS THAT SOMETHING BLEW AND THAT THE OIL WAS BEING BURNED UP. IT HAPPENED SO FAST. ONE DAY I HAD A DEPENDABLE CARE THAT I LOVED. THE NEXT IT NEEDED IT'S ENGINE REPLACED. HOWEVER, I KNEW I COULD NOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR AN ENGINE TO BE REBUILT OR REPLACED. SO, I HAD TO JUST HAVE MY CAR TOWED HOME.
MECHANIC SHOP CUSTOMER PRESENTS WITH COMPLAINT OF OIL LEAK AND NO SERPENTINE BELT. IINITIAL DIAGNOSIS. CAMSHAFT SEAL AND SERPENTINE BELT UPON OPENING UP FOUND EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO TIMING AND HEADS. DAMAGE TO CAMSHAFT, ROCKER ARMS APPEAR TO BE BURNT FROM NO LUBRICANT. APPEARS TO BE BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA THAT CAUSED BROKEN PARTS. UNLESS WE OPEN UP THE ENGINE THERE IS NO WAY TO DETERMINE THE EXTENT OF DAMAGE TO THE INTERNAL ENGINE PARTS. THE RECALLS DEMONSTRATE OVER 129,000 ENGINES RECALLED FOR HYUNDAI AND THIS APPEARS TO BE CAUSED BY ENGINE DEFECTS. CAR WAS STATIONARY AND WOULD NOT START, TOWED TO DEALER AND DEALER EXPLAINED ENGINE WAS BLOWN. I SEARCHED GOOGLE FOR RECALLS AND MANY HYUNDAI SANTA FE'S BETWEEN 2013-2019 HAD RECALLS, ALTHOUGH THEY WERE SPORTS MODEL AND OURS IS NOT A SPORTS MODEL, WE BELIEVE THAT THERE WOULD BE OTHER SANTA FE NON-SPORTS MODEL WITH SAME ISSUE. HYUNDAI INFORMED US THAT IT WOULD COST $18000 FOR A NEW ENGINE, THEY WOULD COVER HALF THE COST, WE PURCHASED THE CAR FOR AROUND $21000 - THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND TAKING ADVANTAGE OF CONSUMERS. I AM WAITING FOR PAPER WORK FROM HYUNDAI WITH REPORT BUT THERE IS NO WAY I CAN PAY $9000 TO GET A NEW ENGINE. ANY ASSISTANCE ON THIS GAUGING AND POSSIBLE ISSUE THAT OTHERS HAVE ENCOUNTERED WOULD BE APPRECIATED. I DO NOT THINK THEY ARE BEING HONEST. WE ALSO BROUGHT THE CAR IN PRIOR TO 100000 MILE WARRANTY EXPIRED WITH 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT ON, THEY DIAGNOSE SOME SMALL MAINTENANCE HAS TO BE PERFORMED AND WE PAYED FOR THAT, WE DROVE IT HOME AND A FEW DAYS LATER 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT RE-APPEARED, BROUGHT IT BACK AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. ATTACHED ARE INVOICES FOR ABOVE REPAIRS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AT 5 MPH, WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE IMPACTED THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A FRACTURED LEFT WRIST AND RIGHT SHOULDER SPRAIN AND DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION AT THE MOMENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE, THE INSURANCE COMPANY DEEMED THE VEHICLE TOTALED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO IMPOUND LOT. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,400. *DT
THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN EITHER FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. THIS HAPPENED OUT OF THE BLUE. CAR IS A 2015...AND NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IN RESEARCHING MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HYUNDAI MODELS AND YEARS. WE HAVE TALKED WITH THE DEALERSHIP, TAKEN IT TO A LOCKSMITH (COULDN'T OPEN WITH A SLIM JIM AND AN INDEPENDENT THAT USED TO WORK FOR HYUNDAI WHO SAID HE WOULD HAVE TO DESTROY THE PANEL TO GET INSIDE TO CHECK THE ASSEMBLY AND REPAIR. DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE IF A FAST EXIT IS NEEDED. HYUNDAI FORUMS HAVE THE ISSUE BEING ASKED ABOUT FREQUENTLY INVOLVING ONE DOOR OR WITH MULTIPLE DOORS
OUR VEHICLE HAS NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NOTHING. WE WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 60MPH WHEN THERE BEGAN TO HAVE A KNOCKING, RATTLING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE. WE PULLED OVER TO CHECK IT, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ANYTHING STILL. DROVE THE VEHICLE TO OUR REPAIR SHOP, AND ON THE WAY THERE, OUR ENGINE BLEW. STILL NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. OUR VEHICLE ONLY HAD 133,000 MILES ON IT, SO OF COURSE IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY. SUCH A HUGE BURDEN. WE ARE NOW STUCK HAVING TO REPLACE THE ENGINE, WHILE OWING A CRAP TON OF MONEY ON THIS SUV.
WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 65MPH AFTER 15 MIN THERE IS A BURNING RUBBER SMELL, THE OIL IS LOW EVEN THOUGH I CHANGED IT 3 WEEKS AGO, IT IS CONSUMING TWICE AS MUCH GAS AS BEFORE. I CALLED A CERTIFIED HYUNDAI DEALER AND THEY HAVE NO AVAILABILITY, I HAVE A SAFTEY CONCERN BECAUSE ENGINE FIRES CAN HAPPEN. NOT SURE IF THIS IS RELATED TO ABS RECALL
AFTER GETTING GAS, I NOTICED A STRANGE SOUND COMING FROM MY CAR. I DROPPED IT OFF WITH MY MECHANIC WHO RECOGNIZED THIS AS A HYUNDAI GDI ENGINE HAVING DEFECTS. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP THAT CONFIRMED THE BEARINGS WERE WORN AND ENGINE ROD WAS ALMOST THROUGH THE ENGINE. HYUNDAI HAS REFUSED TO COVER EXPENSE TO REPAIR.
THE BLIND SPOT DETECTOR STARTING RANDOMLY GOING OFF VERY SPORADICALLY SINCE WE HAD THE CAR. THEN ONE DAY IT STARTED GOING OFF ALMOST EVERY MINUTE FOR ABOUT 7-8 MINUTES THEN AN ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED AND IT STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON THE FREEWAY.
RECALL 194 IS RELATED TO POTENTIAL ELECTRICAL FIRE. THIS RECALL HAS BEEN OUT SINCE 9/2020 AND YET NO DEALERSHIP HAS PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE CALL AT LEAST 3 TIMES AND GET TOLD "PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE". LAT CALL IS THE DATE BELOW.
PANORAMIC SUNROOF EXPLODED OVER MY HEAD WHILE I WAS DRIVING, JUST STARTING TO MERGE ON THE FREEWAY.
2015 HYUNDAI SANT FE LIMITED 3.3L AWD, PURCHASED NEW FROM DEALERSHIP, 129,280 MILES. ROUTINE OIL SERVICE WITH MOBIL 1 SYNTHETIC AND WIX FILTERS SINCE PURCHASED. TRAVELING 75MPH ON I-10 (FLORIDA) WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON. NOT TOWING, TRAVELING STRAIGHT. AS THE VEHICLE STARTED UP A SMALL GRADE IN THE ROAD, THE CRUISE CONTROL SURGED (AS NORMAL TO MAINTAIN VEHICLE SPEED) I HEARD A BANG, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, OIL LIGHT CAME ON, ENGINE DIED IMMEDIATELY. I IMMEDIATELY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND LOOKED OUT THE PASSENGER WINDOW TO MERGE ONTO THE SHOULDER AND NOTICED AN ORANGE GLOW OUTSIDE (IT WAS NIGHT). ONCE STOPPED, OPENED HOOD AND NOTICED SMELL OF OIL, OIL POOLED IN THE UNDERBODY FAIRING. CHECKED OIL DRAIN PLUG AND FILTER, AS I HAD AN OIL CHANGE 700 MILES PRIOR. BOTH WERE STILL PROPERLY INSTALLED. TOWED TO LOCAL MECHANIC, DIAGNOSIS WAS SEIZED ENGINE. INSPECTED ENGINE BLOCK AND NOTICED FIST SIZED HOLE IN BLOCK (SEE PHOTOS). TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, WAS INFORMED THEY HADN'T SEEN THIS BEFORE ON THIS ENGINE. I INFORMED THEM I CURRENTLY DRIVE A 2001 HYUNDAI ELANTRA WITH 220K MILES ON IT AND HAVE BEEN DRIVING/MAINTAINING CARS FOR 30 YEARS AND I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE EITHER. WAS INFORMED THAT THEY SUSPECT IMPROPER OIL MAINTENANCE. OIL AND FILTER BOTH REPLACED EVERY 5000 MILES. ALWAYS MOBILE 1 SYNTHETIC AND WIX (GOOD QUALITY FILTERS/OIL). I SUSPECT HYUNDAI HAS ENGINE RELIABILITY ISSUES. NO PRIOR ENGINE ISSUES NOTICED. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS PRIOR. NO OIL LIGHTS ON PRIOR. WE JUST COMPLETED A TRIP TO NASHVILLE, TN (860 MILES ROUND TRIP) AND WERE RETURNING FROM JASPER, FL (460 MILES ROUND TRIP). OIL AND FILTER REPLACED RIGHT BEFORE TRIP. TIRES BALANCED AND ROTATED. IN OTHER WORDS, I MAINTAIN MY CAR.
RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE; TOLD TO PARK CAR OUTSIDE AS IT COULD CATCH FINE. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. WAS TOLD DIAGNOSTIC SHOW ABS MODULE WAS NOT LEAKING, THEREFORE NO REPAIR NEEDED ALTHOUGH THEY COULDN'T GUARANTEE IT WOULDN'T LEAK IN THE FUTURE. CALLED HYUNDAI CORPORATE (LISTENED TO CAMPAIGN 953) DETAILING THAT AN ELECTRONIC UPDATE WAS INSTALLED WHICH IF THE LEAK OCCURS, THE CAR WOULD BE PLACED IN A MODE THAT WOULD NOT ALLOW IT TO BE DRIVEN FAST AND TO IMMEDIATELY GO TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. I WANT MY CAR REPAIRED AND PART REPLACED. THIS ELECTRONIC UPDATE DOES NOT DO THAT ... IF THE CORPORATION KNOWS THE PART IS FAULTY THEY SHOULD REPLACE ALL, NOT JUST THOSE THAT TEST BAD AT THE TIME OF THE CHECK. WAS GIVEN NO OTHER RECOURSE.
MY 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE HAS BEEN RECALLED DUE TO THE ANTI-LOCK SYSTEM (ABS) MODULES THAT COULD LEAK BRAKE FLUID INTERNALLY AND CAUSE AN ELECTRICA SHORT OVER TIME. THE PISTON SEALS IN THE ABS MODULES'S HYDRAULIC VALVE COULD LEAK BRAKE FLUID INTO THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (EUC) . AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE ABS MODULE COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. THE SAFETY RECALL LETTER I RECEIVED 12-24-20 STATED TO CALL THE NEAREST HYUNDAI DEALER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED. I CALLED ON JAN 12, 2021 TO MY DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE PARTS TO FIX THE RECALL WERE NOT IN YET AND THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHEN THEY WOULD BE AVAILABLE. I FIND THIS TO BE VERY CONCERNING THAT I MAY HAVE A CAR THAT ANYTIME COULD CATCH ON FIRE AND HYUNDAI CANNOT FIX IT.
VEHICLE WAS IN FOR REPAIR IN DECEMBER 2018 TO HAVE A MOMENTARY LOSS OF POWER WHEN ACCELERATOR WAS PRESSED FOLLOWED BY A LOAD BANG AND THEN THE CAR ACCELERATED. THE DEALER FOUND NO CODES AND LOOKED NO FURTHER. IT HAPPEN A FEW TIMES AFTER BUT NO VISITS TO DEALER. IN JANUARY 2021 WHILE PARKING THERE WAS NOISE COMING FROM UNDER VEHICLE AND IT STOPPED RUNNING. CAR WAS TOWED AND TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED ALONG WITH TRANSMISSION. IT DID NOT HAPPEN AT HIGH SPEED. I FEEL THE BANG AND THE ACCELERATION WERE THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND TRANSMISSION STARTING TO FAIL.
I I HAD THE CAR INTO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES FOR MY HEADLIGHTS GOING OUT SINCE MARCH 2020 AND THEY WENT OUT AGAIN ON 1/6/2020 IS IT POSSIBLE THAT IT COULD BE THE WIRING HARNESS THAT IS NO GOOD.
AS PART OF NHTSA RECALL #20V-520, HYUNDAI RECALL #194, I WAS INFORMED THE PART THAT HAS STARTED FIRES, WOULD MAY MERELY BE INSPECTED AND NOT REPLACED. THIS PART SHOULD BE REPLACED SINCE IT IS KNOWN TO START FIRES.

OIL CONSUMPTION WITHIN 200 MILES BLIND SPOT DETECTION DOESN'T WORK
I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE MAP SENSOR AND THE BATTERY LAST YEAR. CAR WAS SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING WITH NO WARNING. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD STAY ON. RECENTLY IN LAST COUPLE MONTHS NOTICED ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES. WHEN APPLYING PRESSURE TO BRAKES WHILE ON FREEWAY THE STEERING WOULD SHAKE AND FEEL LIKE I HAD NO CONTROL. JUST RECEIVED NOTICE OF A BRAKE RECALL BUT THERE IS STILL NO REMEDY. HOW LONG DO I WAIT FOR THEM TO COME UP WITH A REMEDY?
IN LATE SEPTEMBER WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION ("CAMPAIGNE194") FROM THE MANUFACTURER STATING THAT A BREAK FLUID LEAK IN THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM COULD CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL SHORT WITH POTENTIAL FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. MY WIFE IMMEDIATELY WENT TO THE DEALER, FITZGERALD HYUNDAI ROCKVILLE MD, TO GET IT FIXED. THEY SAID THE FIX WAS NOT READY AND THAT WE WOULD BE CONTACTED. WHEN TOLD THEM THAT WE PLANNED TO DRIVE TO SOUTH FLORIDA (FROM JUST NORTH OF WASHINGTON DC), THEY BRUSHED OFF HER CONCERN WITH A CARELESS ATTITUDE. WE ARE NERVOUS ABOUT DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT ALL AND SEE ON YOUR WEBSITE THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS OBLIGED "TO REMEDY THIS SAFETY RECALL FOR YOUR VEHICLE IN A TIMELY MANNER". WE HAVE RECEIVED NO FOLLOW-UP FROM THEM AND FEEL THAT GIVEN THIS BEGAN IN AUGUST, A "TIMELY MANNER" HAS NOT BEEN MET. IS OUR VEHICLE SAFE TO DRIVE?! WE THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR QUICK RESPONSE.
THE VENDOR HAS HAD MONTHS TO HAVE A REMEDY TO FIX THE ABS BRAKE FLUID LEAKING CAUSING POTENTIAL ENGINE FIRES.

GOOD MORNING, I'M REACHING HERE BECAUSE HYUNDAI HAD BEEN NEGLECTING HELPING ME WITH A RECALL THE VEHICLE HAS. THE VEHICLE IS IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. THE VEHICLE IS AT THE MAGNA HYUNDAI, OFFICIAL DEALER FROM HYUNDAI IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. I'M ATTACHING THE LAST EMAIL CORPORATE HYUNDAI USA SENT ME. ALL I'M ASKING IS TO FIX THE ENGINE FAILURE BECAUSE OF THE RECALL. THE DEALER IN THE DOMINICAN US WILLING TO COOPERATE IF HYUNDAI USA GIVES THEM THE GREEN LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS BUILT HERE IN THE USA. THE VEHICLE WAS JUST USED FOR ABOUT 1K MILES. WE BOUGHT IT IN MARCH 2020.
THERE IS ONE RECALL OUT ON MY 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT HAVING TO DO WITH RISK OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. THE ABS SYSTEM CAN LEAK ONTO AN ELECTRICAL MOTOR AND CAUSE AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED AN OFFICIAL WORD ON THIS RECALL - ONLY WORD OF MONTH/ RADIO. THERE IS NO REMEDY YET UNTIL END OF OCTOBER 2020.
ENGINE SEIZED ON 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. NO WARNING AT ALL. TOWED TO LOCAL MECHANIC SHOP. DID NOT TAKE TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. MECHANIC FOUND NO OIL IN THE DIP STICK. SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGE DONE A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AGO. VEHICLE JUST WENT OVER 100K IN MILEAGE. I'VE KEPT UP WITH THE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULES. HAS TO BE SOMETHING WITH THESE HYUNDAI ENGINE.

ENGINE SEIZED-NEEDED COMPLETE REPLACEMENT; $3,344 PAID TO WAIKEM HYUNDAI CANTON, OH- ENGINE LIGHT CAME WHILE DRIVING AND CAR STALLED. NEVER STARTED AGAIN, TOWED TO WAIKEM HYUNDAI, DENIED WARRANTY COVERAGE STATING NO PROOF OF ADEQUATE OIL CHANGES, EVEN THOUGH MANY PUBLISHED REPORTS OF HYUNDAI SANTA FE ENGINE FAILURES. I BELIEVE ENGINE RECALLS EXIST FOR 2014, ONE YEAR AWAY FROM OUR 2015- BELIEVE ISSUES OBVIOUSLY WEREN'T FIXED AND HYUNDAI NOT BEING ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR MISTAKES. OWNED MANY, MANY VEHICLES OVER MANY YEARS...NONE EVER HAD COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE LIKE THIS HYUNDAI. REPAIR RECEIPT AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.
CAR WAS BOTH TO DEALERSHIP ON 3/7/2020 -3/12/2020 THE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT THEY REPLACED THE BCM RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP ON 3/19/2020 HEADLIGHT NOT TURNING ON HEATED SEAT WENT OUT AND REAR WINDSHIELDWIPER NOT WORKING GOT BABK 3/20/20 BOUGHT BACK AGING ON 4/22/202 AND RETURNED TO ME ON 5/07/2020 FOR SAME THING IT IS BACK AGAIN AT DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME THING. I WENT TO START THE CAR UP TO GO TO WORK AND THE LIGHTS DID NOT COME ON IT WAS RAINING THAT DAY AND TURNED ON THE REAR WIPER ON THAT DID NOT TURN ON THEN I TRIED THE HEATED SEAT TURNED IT ON AND IT WENT OUT.
WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, GOING APPROXIMATELY 65-75MPH FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. AS I PUSHED THE ACCELERATOR TO PREPARE FOR A LANE CHANGE, I REALIZED THAT I COULD PUT THE ACCELERATOR ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH NO RESPONSE. I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THAT MY "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT APPEARED. I TRIED AGAIN UNSUCCESSFULLY, THEN TRIED THE BREAKS. THE BREAKS WERE VERY STIFF, AS IF THEIR POWER TO THE ENGINE WAS CUT OFF. I TRIED TO TURN OFF OF THE HIGHWAY ONTO THE CURB, AND I NOTICED THAT MY STEERING WHEEL WAS ALSO VERY STIFF. ALTHOUGH I COULD TURN, IT TOOK MUCH MORE STRENGTH THAN USUAL. I LET THE SPEED DECLINE NATURALLY UNTIL IT STOPPED ENTIRELY ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. WHILE STOPPED, I TRIED REPEATEDLY TO USE THE BREAKS, GAS, AND TEST THE STEERING, BUT THE SAME ISSUES WERE THERE WITH ZERO SUCCESS. ONE THING I CAN NOTE WAS THAT THE BATTERY APPEARED TO BE WORKING JUST FINE, AS MY RADIO WAS ON THROUGHOUT THIS ENTIRE TIME. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON UNTIL I TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES. I TURNED THE CAR ON AFTER SOME TIME AND IT IMMEDIATELY WORKED - WITH EVERYTHING ELSE APPEARING TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE LIGHT AT THIS TIME WAS OFF, AND HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE CAR INTO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP, BUT BECAUSE THE LIGHT TURNED OFF, THEY CLAIM THAT THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO READ WHAT HAD HAPPENED DURING THIS INCIDENT. THEY GAVE THE CAR BACK TO ME WHILE OFFERING NO SUGGESTIONS, THEY DID NOT EVEN TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK AT THE ENGINE. THEY EVEN SAID THAT THEY WOULD TRADE IN THE CAR FOR RESALE - AS IF THEY WOULD LET SOMEONE ELSE TAKE THIS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. I AM LUCKY I DIDN'T DIE, AND THIS COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE. MY PROBLEM APPEARS TO LOOK MUCH LIKE THE RECALLS OF OTHER SANTA FE YEARS AROUND 2015. I HAVE TRIED FOR A WEEK TO CONTACT HYUNDAI WITH NO SUCCESS IN GETTING IN CONTACT WITH A CASE MANAGER. FAILURE MILEAGE AROUND 83,000.
2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FEE I BOUGHT NEW, TURBO SPORT. AT 26,750 MILES THE DISC PADS ON ALL 4 WHEELS FELL OFF THE STEEL BACKING PLATES. THE PADS IN THE FRONT WERE PAPER THIN AND THE BACK WERE SOMEWHAT BETTER. THE "SQUEALERS" THAT WARN YOU OF PAD THICKNESS NEVER MADE A SOUND. DANGEROUS SITUATION. I'M A 50 YEAR SERVICE MECHANICS, NEVER SAW THIS BEFORE. THE PADS COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH LACK OF STOPPING. I'M NOT ASKING FOR MONEY BACK FROM THEM, WARNING OWNERS NOT TO EXPECT THE 50K MILEAGE STANDARD FOR HYUNDAI VEHICLES. I CALLED THEM AT HEADQUARTERS TO WARN THEM OF THIS SITUATION. COULD HAVE CAUSED GRAND MOTHER AND CHILD SOME SERIOUS OUT COME AS THAT IS THE ONLY USE FOR THIS VEHICLE. BEWARE
I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WHEN SUDDENLY, THE ENGINE TURNED OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING (0 RPM ON DASH). I PULLED THE CAR OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER OF HIGHWAY AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT THE ENGINE/CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. I REMEMBER SMELLING A BURNING SMELL THE NIGHT BEFORE THIS INCIDENT. ALSO, SMELLED THE SAME BURNING SMELL FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ON THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT AFTER THE ENGINE UNEXPECTEDLY TURNED OFF. THERE WAS NO ENGINE LIGHT ON OR ANYTHING PRIOR TO THIS EVENT. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION HYUNDAI!
MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT 114,000 MILES THEY FOUND METAL SHAVINGS IN IT, WE HAD IT REPLACED. NOW AT 134,000 MILES THE ENGINE WENT OUT, THEY FOUND METAL SHAVINGS IN THAT ALSO. IT HAS BEEN SITTING AT HYUNDAI SINCE DECEMBER 2019 IT IS NOW FEBRUARY 2020 AND STILL WITHOUT A CAR OR A RENTAL. SERVICE DEPARTMENT BUILT AND NEW ENGINE AFTER THEY TESTED THE ENGINE IT STARTED MAKING NOISES AGAIN AND APPARENTLY HYUNDAI SENT THEM SOME PART THAT DIDN'T FIT NOW THEY HAVE TO FIX IT AGAIN... HYUNDAI CORPORATE HAS ONLY OFFERED TO PAY HALF OF THE REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH IT WAS AN ENGINE MALFUNCTION. BOTH OF THESE ISSUES HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING. THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WHILE ON THE FREEWAY WHEN IT BROKE.
FOLLOWING WARRANTY WORK ON DEFECTIVE DOOR LOCKS, THE REAR TAILGATE OPENS ELECTRONICALLY BUT OFTENTIMES WILL CLOSE IMMEDIATELY ON YOU. IT IS INCONSISTENT, SOMETIMES IT OCCURS TWICE IN A ROW AND SOMETIMES IT IS EVERY THIRD OPENING. IT HAS COME DOWN ON MY HEAD AND THAT OF MY WIFE. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND HAPPENS WHEN USING THE INTERIOR BUTTON, THE BUTTON ON THE KEY FOB AND THE BUTTON ON THE TAILGATE HANDLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. WHILE DRIVING 5-10 MPH, SMOKE AND FLAMES APPEARED FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND CONTACTED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A POLICE TOW YARD. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE IF THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED. DON MOORE HYUNDAI (3200 VILLA POINT, OWENSBORO, KY 42303, (270) 685-5555) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN.
WHILE EXITING THE HIGHWAY AT A RATE OF 20MPH ON A DECLINE, WE BEGAN TO SLIDE IN THE SNOW, AS WE SLID I BEGAN PUMPING THE BRAKES TO SLOW US DOWN BUT THE HILL MADE US GAIN SPEED EVEN THOUGH THE WHEELS WERE NOT SPINNING. AFTER SLIDING DOWN HILL FOR CLOSE TO 100 YARDS, WE MADE IMPACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE DRIVING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE MADE DIRECT IMPACT WITH THE SIDE OF THE MINIVAN. IMPACT WAS HARD ENOUGH FOR THE FRONT BUMPER OF MY VEHICLE TO BE COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF, MY RADIATOR CRACKED, THE MINIVAN IS TOTALED AND ALL THE AIRBAGS WENT OFF IN THE MINIVAN, BUT MY AIRBAGS NEVER DID RESULTING IN MY CHIPPING MY TEETH ON THE STEERING WHEEL, AGGRAVATING A FRACTURED WRIST, HURTING MY RIBS, AS WELL AS MY PASSENGER HITTING THEIR HEAD HARD ENOUGH TO GIVE THEM A PHYSICIAN DIAGNOSED CONCUSSION PUTTING THEM OUT OF WORK FOR 2 DAYS AND GIVING HER WHIPLASH. WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY STANDARDS AND REPUTATION OF HYUNDAI WITH THE PLAN TO BE HAVING CHILDREN, WE ARE FORTUNATE THAT WE HAVE NOT HAD CHILDREN YET.
IN JANUARY MY ALTERNATOR FAILED. I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE BAD PART. TWO DAYS LATER THAT PART FAILED AND TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SWAPPED THE PART AGAIN FREE OF CHARGE. ON FRIDAY SEPT 6TH MY ALTERNATOR FAILED AGAIN AND DESTROYED THE IN-LINE FUSE AND KILLED THE BATTERY. ONCE ITS FIXED IT WILL BE MY 4TH ALTERNATOR IN LESS THAN 80K MILES. ALL OF THE TIMES THAT THIS PART FAILED IT WAS WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY.
DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A NOISE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. AT THAT POINT DRIVING IT STRAIGHT HOME THE ENGINE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES, ONCE WHILE MAKING A TURN THROUGH A BUSY INTERSECTION, I WAS LEFT WITH NO POWER. THIS IS SIMILAR TO THE ISSUES I READ INVOLVING SANTA FE ENGINE RECALLS FOR THE 2013, 2014, AND 2017 MODEL YEARS.
USED VEHICLE (80,000 MILES). POWER STEERING CUT OUT WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ALONG CURVE AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WITH OUR INFANT SON IN THE BACK. MANAGED TO SAFELY STOP, TOOK TO DEALERSHIP FOR EVALUATION. DEALERSHIP INDICATED IT HAD FIXED PROBLEM WITH ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM, BUT THE POWER STEERING CUT OUT AGAIN THE FOLLOWING DAY WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. HAPPENED TO MY WIFE A THIRD TIME WHEN SHE WAS ATTEMPTING TO BACK OUT OF PARKING SPACE. DEALER COULDN'T IDENTIFY PROBLEM, SAID WE NEEDED TO REPLACE ENTIRE STEERING ASSEMBLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DECELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WILLIAMSBURG HYUNDAI (7277 RICHMOND RD, WILLIAMSBURG, VA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED PER A MANUFACTURER CAMPAIGN FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
BOUGHT BRAD NEW 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE IN 2015. DEALER SOLD ME ON SAFETY. I THINK IT WAS 8 TO 10 AIRBAGS. GOT IN ACCIDENT AND NOT ONE DEPLOYED. HIT SOLID POLE GOING ABOUT 35 TO 40. CAR TOTALLED NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. MADE COMPLAINT TO HYUNDAI AND NO RESPONSE.
CAR STARTED SURGING FORWARD WITHOUT TOUCHING GAS PEDAL, IT LUNGES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AS WELL. I
THE ENGINE IS THE 2.0 TURBO AND SINCE ABOUT 10,000 MILES IT RUNS SLIGHTLY ROUGH AT IDLE IN GEAR, IT EITHER DOES NOT KICK DOWN SMOOTHLY TO ACCELERATE, OR IT SUDDENLY TAKES OFF UNEXPECTEDLY RAPID. THE ACCELERATION IS SPORADIC, UNEVEN AT ONE END, OR JERKING INTO THE TURBO FUNCTION AT THE OTHER END.
WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET AT ABOUT 40 MPH, A KNOCKING SOUND WAS HEARD FROM THE ENGINE. AFTER DRIVING ANOTHER 5 MILES THE NOISE BECAME LOADER AND THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP (HYUNDAI OF COOL SPRINGS, FRANKLIN, TN) FOR SERVICE. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY FOUND SLUDGE AND METAL SHAVINGS INSIDE THE ENGINE AND OIL PAN. HYUNDAI WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM AND DENIED THE CLAIM. THE DEALERSHIP CHANGED THE OIL AND TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A NEW ENGINE. VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 68,000 MILES. STILL UNDER WARRANTY. CAN NO LONGER DRIVE THE CAR.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ON DASH STAYS LIT. CAR SCANNED AT DEALER. SHOWS AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE DEFECTIVE. TOLD AIR BAGS NON FUNCTIONING. CAR IS AT DEALER NOW. OTHER WARNING LIGHTS ACTIVATED AT SAME TIME (TRACTION CONTROL AND DOWN HILL BRAKE). CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN WHEN ERROR LIGHTS ACTIVATED.WAITING ON CALL BACK FROM HYUNDAI.
RANDOMLY, FROM A STOP, WHEN ACCELERATING THE ENGINE TEMPORARY STALLS OR HESITATES FOR 1-2 SECONDS. THIS VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW AND THE DEALER REFUSES TO RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM. IT HAS PROBABLY HAPPENED 50 TIMES OR MORE. ONLINE SEARCHES SHOW MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE WITH ALL MODELS WITH THE 2.X TURBO ENGINE.
DRIVING ON MAJOR HWY, CAR LOST POWER AND SO I LOOKED FOR A PLACE TO PULL OVER, WHEN I GOT TO SIDE OF RD THE CAR STALLED OUT AND DIED COMPLETELY. WOULDN'T RESTART AGAIN. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND BATTERY LIGHT AND OTHER LIGHTS. I TRIED TO CRANK WITH NO LUCK. CALLED FOR HELP. GOT TOWED TO NEAREST SHOP. IT WAS MOTOR THAT FAILED. NO SIGN EXCEPT LOST POWER AND DIED. SAME CONDITION AS MOTORS THAT WERE RECALLED AND MY MOTOR IS A 2014 AND I HAVE EXTRA WARRANTY AND THEY TURNED ME DOWN. I NEED HELP PLEASE.....HELPPPPPPPPP
PASSENGER SEAT BELT WARNING DOES NOT FUNCTION. WITH ADULT IN THE SEAT, NO WARNING LIGHT OR ALARM TO INDICATE THE BELT IS NOT IN USE ANYTIME WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.
SEAT BELT WARNING INOPERABLE FOR PASSENGER SEAT. IT DOESN'T PROVIDE A WARNING LIGHT OR AUDIBLE ALARM WITH A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT AND THE VEHICLE UNDERWAY IN DRIVE POSITION.
TWICE ENGINE QUIT WHILE OPERATING WITH NO WARNING. ONCE AT 60MPH AND THE OTHER AT SLOW SPEED WHILE TURNING AROUND. RESTARTED BY PLACING IN NEUTRAL AND PUSH START BUTTON WHILE STILL MOVING. 21000+ MILES. DEALER OFFERS NO EXPLANATION. THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS OF SIMILAR INCIDENTS WITH HYUNDAI VEHICLES. NO FIXES I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND AND LITTLE SATISFACTION FROM THE MFR.
HIT ACCELERATOR AND WON'T SHIFT INTO GEAR, LOUD REVS AND THEN HEAR A BANG AND THE CAR JUMPS AS IT FINALLY SHIFTS INTO GEAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED RANDOMLY THROUGHOUT THE LIFE OF MY CAR AT RANDOM, I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT, THEN LAST WEEK, I START TO LOSE POWER, AND SAME THING, IT HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES ON THE SAME DRIVE. NEVER ONCE WHEN THIS HAPPENS DID I GET A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THEN IT GOT SCARY AS WHILE ON THE FREEWAY THE VEHICLE WOULD DOWNSHIFT WHEN TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED ON ITS OWN WHILE IN DRIVE. STILL NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAR FINALLY GETS BACK TO CORRECT GEAR RATIO FOR THE SPEED. FINALLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. NOW THE CAR WON'T SHIFT OUT OF 4TH GEAR, NO 1ST OR SECOND GEAR.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY, I NOTICED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL AND OTHER FLUIDS. THE OIL WAS VERY LOW. I PUT IN A FEW QUARTS OF OIL IMMEDIATELY AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GET AN OIL CHANGE PROFESSIONALLY SHORTLY AFTER. I NOTICED THE ENGINE WITH HESITATE AND IDLING BECAME ROUGH. AT THE SAME TIME, THE FUEL MILES PER GALLON DECREASED DRASTICALLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE AND OTHER WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT POWERED OFF THE VEHICLE, RESTARTED IT, AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LEN STOLER HYUNDAI (1906, 11275 REISTERSTOWN RD, OWINGS MILLS, MD 21117, (443) 249-8884) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT METAL WAS FOUND THROUGHOUT THE ENGINE AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CASE NUMBER: 11185417 WAS OPENED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
SOMEBODY HAS FINALLY DIED OVER THIS DEFECT, NOW WILL SOMETHING BE DONE ABOUT IT? I HAVE OWNED 2 HYUNDAI SANTAFE'S A 2013 AND NOW A 2015. THE HEADLAMP SYSTEM ON BOTH CARS, USING HALOGEN LAMPS, IS INFERIOR, UNACCEPTABLE, FOR VOLVO, DEADLY. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT LIMITED TO THE HYUNDAI CAR BRAND, BUT MANY BRANDS USING SIMILAR PROJECTOR HALOGEN HEADLAMP SYSTEMS. DRIVING ANYWHERE IN LIKE EQUIPPED VEHICLES THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS FAIL TO PROVIDE ENOUGH LIGHT AHEAD OF THE VEHICLE TO AVOID AN OBSTACLE COMING OUT OF THE SHADOWS. CASE IN POINT, THE UBER VOLVO PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT. HAVING DRIVEN PROFESSIONALLY OVER 2.5 MILLION MILES IN MY LIFETIME, MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PROJECTOR TECHNOLOGY, IT IS MY PROFESSIONAL OPINION THE ACCIDENT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. BECAUSE THE LAMP SYSTEM ON THE VOLVO, MY TWO HYUNDAI'S, FAIL TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE LIGHTING ALLOWING THE DRIVER TO SEE, AND AVOID, OBSTACLES. I AM ATTACHING SCREEN SHOTS OF A 7 SECOND VIDEO RELATED TO THE UBER ACCIDENT. JUST OVER 3 SECONDS IN, WITH A LITTLE OVER 1 SECOND TO REACT, THE PEDESTRIAN IS BARELY VISIBLE. THE HEADLAMPS ONLY ILLUMINATE TO THE END OF THE 2ND WHITE STRIPE, ON THE LEFT, IN FRONT OF THE VOLVO. THE SAME IS TRUE OF BOTH HYUNDAI'S I HAVE OWNED WITH A SIMILAR HEADLAMP SYSTEM. STUDIES HAVE SHOWN, WITH OUT ANY DOUBT, IT TAKES A LITTLE OVER 2 SECONDS FOR A HUMAN TO REACT, UNDER IDEAL SITUATIONS, TO A UNANTICIPATED SEE AND AVOID DRIVING EVENT. IN THIS EXEMPLAR THE DRIVER HAD BARELY MORE THAN 1 SECOND TO REACT, ONCE HIS BRAIN PROCESSED THINGS, AND THEN TOLD HIS EXTREMITIES TO DO SOMETHING. THEREFORE, DUE TO INADEQUATE LIGHTING, THIS ACCIDENT IN NO WAY WAS AVOIDABLE, NOW SOMEBODY IS DEAD, AND YOU DO NOTHING. I HAVE LOOKED FOR A WAY TO ILLUSTRATE THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE, THIS DEFINES IT IN SPADES. FINALLY IF THE VOLVO HAD THE HID, OR LED LAMPS, FOR THE DEFECT TO EXIST THERE, IS MORE APPALLING.
MY HYUNDAI IS 3 YEARS OLD WITH 70,000 MILES ON IT , I'VE MAINTAINED THE VEHICLE ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURERERS SUGGESTIONS . THE CAR HAD NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON OR WARNINGS THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG AND THE NEXT DAY I START MY CAR AND IT'S MAKING A VERY LOUD TICKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING AND SLOWLY LOSING POWER UNTIL IT EVENTUALLY STALLED OUT . I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC TO HAVE IT SCANNED , THE SCAN SHOWED THE EXHAUST SOLENOID HAS FAILED AND THE TIMING WAS ADVANCED , AGAIN THIS HAPPENED FROM THE CAR RUNNING PERFECTLY FINE ONE DAY TO THE ENGINE SHUTTING DOWN THE NEXT . SO THE MECHANIC TOOK THE SOLENOIDS OUT AND FOUND METAL SHAVINGS COVERING THEM . I'VE SINCE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIE TYPE OF ENGINE IN THIS VEHICLE THE THETA 11 GDI 2.0T , WHICH HAS BEEEN RECALLED 2011-2014 MODELS . THIS IS VERY DISHEARTENING TO HEAR THAT WITH A CAR THAT IS 3 YEARS OLD MY ENGINE IS NOW BLOWN AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT MY COST , I STILL OWE A LOT OF MONEY ON THIS CAR . I'VE READ THAT HYUNDAI KNOWS THESE ENGINES ARE FAULTY FOR HAVING METAL SHAVINGS IN THE CHAMBERS BUT YET THEY'RE STILL PUTTING THEM IN BRAND NEW VEHICLES , NOW I AM STUCK WITH A LEMON BASICALLY AND HAVE TO SHELL OUT 6 GRAND FOR ANOTHER ENGINE THAT THIS COULD POSSIBLY HAPPEN AGAIN BEFORE IT'S PAID OFF . THIS CLEARLY IS A MANUFACTURER ISSUE NOT THE OWNERS
STARTED THE CAR ONE MORNING AND IT RAN ROUGH. TURNED OFF A/C AND CAR SMOOTHED OUT. AS WE TURNED OFF OF OUR ROAD WE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND CAR WOULD NOT GO MORE THAN 1MPH PER EVERY FEW SECONDS. WE PULLED OFF IN THE NEAREST PARKING LOT AND THE CAR DIED. DEALERSHIP HAS HAD THE CAR FOR ALMOST 2 WEEKS AND THEY HAVE ATTEMPTED TO HAVING NO IDEA WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE A RENTAL PER HYUNDAI'S CORPORATE POLICY. THIS VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 45,000 MILES ON IT!!
WE HAVE BEEN WARNED THAT THE HOOD MAY BLOW OFF INTO THE WINDSHEILD WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. SAID THEY HAVE A FIX BUT IT HAS BEEN A COUPLE OF MONTHS BEFORE THEY SAY THEY HAVE A PART TO FIX IT. WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR AT THIS POINT
A PORTION OF THE SUNROOF INEXPLICABLY SHATTERED. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND PARKED AT THE TIME, THOUGH THERE WAS NOTHING ABOVE, AROUND OR EVEN NEAR THE VEHICLE TO CAUSE THE DAMAGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LOCK THE VEHICLE'S DOORS, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK FAILED TO LOCK. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,950.
I WAS ON GROUND FLOOR OF A PARKING GARAGE AND ALREADY IN THE PARKING SPOT---I HAD MY BRAKE ON AND WAS ACTUALLY READY TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO "PARK". THERE WAS A SUDDEN REVING OF THE ENGINE AND THE CAR BEGAN TO MOVE FORWARD AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED THROUGH A STEEL LATTICE WORK BARRIER AND THROUGH A FLOWER BED INTO AN EXTREMELY WET SURFACE. I HIT THE BRAKE AS HARD AS POSSIBLE AND BELIEVE THAT THE BRAKE FINALLY HELD. THE LEFT FRONT TIRE BECAME MIRED DOWN IN APPROXIMATELY 12-14 INCHES OF MUD. I BELIEVE THE COMBINATION OF THE MUD AND THE BRAKE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ACTUALLY STOP. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED DURING THIS ACCIDENT. BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR WERE DAMAGED FROM THE FRONT FENDER TO THE REAR FENDER, INCLUDING 1 HEADLIGHT UNIT, AND THE OUTSIDE MIRROR ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR (I DO NOT KNOW FOR CERTAIN IF THE OTHER OUTSIDE MIRROR WAS DAMAGED). I LOOKED UP "SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION" ONLINE AND IT IS LOOKING MORE AND MORE LIKE THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS) MAY HAVE BEEN THE CAUSE OF THIS ACCIDENT. I DO HAVE A POLICE REPORT AND PICTURES BUT CANNOT SCAN THEM AS I HAVE ON CAPABILITY TO DO SO. NO OTHER VEHICLE AND NO OTHER INDIVIDUALS WERE INVOLVED. WE HAD A WRECKING COMPANY COME TO PULL THE CAR OUT AND TAKE TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP FOR ESTIMATE AND POSSIBLE REPAIR. THE ESTIMATE THAT WAS GIVEN TO THE POLICE OFFICER FOR THE ACTUAL PROPERTY DAMAGES (STEEL LATTICE WORK REPLACEMENT AND LAWN REPAIR) WAS LISTED AS $5000. IT IS UNKNOWN AT THIS POINT WHETHER THERE WAS ANY DAMAGE TO THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE AS A RESULT OF GOING OVER THE LARGE CONCRETE BLOCK THAT WAS IN FRONT OF THE PARKING SPOT. I AM WAITING FOR THE ESTIMATE TO KNOW THIS.
I RECEIVED RECALL FOR SECONDARY HOOD LATCH WHICH CAN CAUSE HOOD TO REMAIN OPEN AND OBSCURE DRIVER VISION. I SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT WITH RICK CASE HYUNDAI. WHEN I GOT THERE, I WAS TOLD PART WAS NOT IN STOCK AND THEY COULD NOT RESCHEDULE BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T SURE WHEN THEY COULD GET PART. I CALLED POTAMKIN HYUNDAI AND HAD TO LEAVE A MESSAGE BECAUSE THEY DID NOT ANSWER THEIR SERVICE PHONE. I AM FILING COMPLAINT IN CASE SOMETHING HAPPENS, HYUNDAI CAN BE HELD LIABLE FOR NOT FIXING THIS ISSUE IN A TIMELY MANNER.
ENGINE SEIZED ON THE VEHICLE AFTER 32000 MILES. SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLAIMS THIS IS DUE TO POOR MAINTENANCE DESPITE ADEQUATE OIL CHANGES OCCUR DURING WITH THE MOST RECENT 1 DAY PRIOR TO VEHICLE BREAK DOWN. WE HAD DROVE THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 20 MILES FOLLOWING THE OIL CHANGE AND WAS LEAVING FOR A FAMILY VACATION AND WAS LESS THAN A MILE FROM OUR HOUSE WHEN IT BROOKE DOWN ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE BREAKDOWN OCCURRED. AFTER TOWING THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP IT WAS FOUND TO HAVE A SEIZED ENGINE.
I RECEIVED A RECALL FROM YOU REGARDING THE SECONDARY LATCH ON THE HOOD RELEASE. I CALLED THE DEALER TO ARRANGE CORRECTION. DEALER REP SAID THAT PARTS ON BACK ORDER AND I COULD BE PUT ON WAITING LIST. I CALLED HYUNDAI FINANCE AS THE VEHICLE IS LEASED AND SAID CAN YOU DO ANYTHING? THEY SAID TO TAKE VEHICLE TO DEALER AND HAVE LATCH INSPECTED. I CALLED DEALER BACK AND ASKED FOR AN APPOINTMENT. TODAY IS AUGUST 7, THEY SET AN APPOINTMENT FOR SEPTEMBER 5. I SAID AN INSPECTION REQUIRING 5 MINUTES TAKES A MONTH? PAPERWORK, REP SAID. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT YOU ISSUED AN IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL AND MF. HAS NO PARTS? IS SEALER STALLING? DEALER NAME IS JOHNSON HYUNDAI IN CARY, NORTH CAROLINA. DON'T SEND RECALLS IF THE COMPANY WON'T CO-OPERATE! *TR

WHILE DRIVING MY HYUNDAI SANTA FE DOWN A HIGHWAY AT NORMAL SPEED, THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF ON THE VEHICLE SHATTERED. THERE WERE NO CARS AHEAD OF ME TO CAUSE A ROCK TO FLY INTO THE ROOF AND CRACK IT. THERE WAS AN EXTREMELY LOUD POP SOUND WHEN THIS ISSUE OCCURRED. THIS HAPPENED WHILE MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING BACK FROM A HOLIDAY TRIP. READ ONLINE THAT MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING A SIMILAR SITUATION WITH THEIR PANORAMIC SUNROOF ON THEIR HYUNDAI SANTA FE.
PANORAMIC SUNROOF SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING. IT INITIALLY LEFT A LARGE HOLE ABOUT 2 FT BY 3 FT WHICH INCREASED OVER THE NEXT 2 HOURS AS I LIMPED HOME. THOUSANDS OF PIECES OF GLASS ENDED UP INSIDE THE OVERHEAD SUN SHADE AND INSIDE THE CAR. I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY LATE AT NIGHT AND THERE WERE NO ROCKS OR OTHER FLYING OBJECTS THAT COULD HAVE HIT MY CAR WHEN THIS OCCURRED.
THE CAR STALLS AND COMPLETELY LOSES POWER. WE JUST HIT THE 62K MILE MARK. WHEN IT LOSES POWER EVEN THE BRAKES DO NOT WORK. WHEN YOU STOP AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN THE CAR JERKS. THE EXHAUST IS SMOKING BADLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION AND WITH MORE THAN ONE DRIVER.

THE SCREEN ON THE GPS UNIT CRACKED AS I WAS CLEANING IT. I HAD THE CAR FOR 10 MONTHS WITH 7000 MILES ON THE CAR. HYUNDAI HAS REFUSED TO REPLACE THE UNIT. I AM UNABLE TO DOWNLOAD UPDATES, THE CONTINUITY IS BROKEN. THE CAR WAS PARKED AND IN MY DRIVEWAY AS I WAS CLEANING IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000. UPDATED 01/31/17*LJ
WHEN I AM ON A SUBSTANTIAL INCLINE, I PLACE THE AUTO INTO REVERSE, THERE IS A HARD SHIFTING NOISE AND VIBRATION. MY GIRLFRIENDS INCLINE ON HER DRIVEWAY IS PROBABLY AROUND 6% GRADE. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. I HAVE CONTACT HYUNDAI @CONSUMERAFFAIRS@HMAUSA.COM ON 7/25/2016. I ALSO CONTACTED A DEALER (RON TONKIN) ON7/28/2016. I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM EITHER ENTITIES AS OF THIS WRITING.

THE ELECTRONIC KEY SYSTEM OF THIS CAR HAS A BIG FLAW. THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK EVEN AFTER MULTIPLE ACTIVATION THROUGH THE LOCK BUTTON OF THE ELECTRONIC KEY WHEN THE ENGINE IS LEFT RUNNING . THE BEHAVIOR IS UNLIKE OTHER CARS SUCH AS NISSAN ALTIMA, WHICH LOCKS THE DOOR.S. THIS BEHAVIOR MAKES IT MUCH MORE LIKELY FOR SOMEONE TO INADVERTENTLY WALK AWAY FROM THE CAR WITH ENGINE RUNNING LEAVING THE DOORS UNLOCKED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH MERGING INTO TRAFFIC, ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH FAILED TO STOP. FOR A WEEK (JULY 4-11, 2015) I RENTED A SANTA FE SPORT SUV FROM NATIONAL AT HOBBY AIRPORT IN HOUSTON, TX. ONLY AFTER DRIVING IT DURING THE WEEK DID I DISCOVER THE WORST PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR ' IT HAD A PREDOMINANT TENDENCY TO HESITATE WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, ESPECIALLY WHEN A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN WAS TO BE EXECUTED AT THE SAME TIME. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, WITH A REAL POSSIBILITY OF BEING STRUCK BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE ENGINE FAILED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. THE WARNING LIGHT FOR THE ENGINE REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000. UPDATED 02/10/16*LJ *TR
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, CALL LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT OPERATE IN A NORMAL FASHION. RPM GAUGE WAS HIGHLY ERRATIC AND PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR DID NOT RESULT IN INCREASED SPEED. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT IN, THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. THE 2ND TIME I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED, AS IT WOULD NO LONGER START. THAT TIME THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE CAUSED BY A SPARK PLUG.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT A AUTOMATIC VEHICLE WASH AND DURING THE DRYING CYCLE, THE SUN ROOF SHATTERED. VEHICLE REQUIRES CONSTANT MINOR STEERING CORRECTIONS TO MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT LINE. VEHICLE WANDERS ON THE HIGHWAY AND SEEMS TO OVER ADJUST SO THAT A SLIGHT STEERING ADJUSTMENT TO THE RIGHT REQUIRES A SLIGHT CORRECTION TO THE LEFT AND ON AND ON. IMPOSSIBLE TO HOLD A STRAIGHT LINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25. UPDATED 7/9/15*CN
GETTING READY TO LEAVE A RESTAURANT AFTER BUSINESS DINNER, REACHED FOR SEAT BELT AND IT WAS NOT ATTACHED TO THE CAR. THE BOLT WAS COMPLETED DISLODGED, AND THE SEAT BELT WAS JUST HANGING THERE. THIS IS A BIG CONCERN BECAUSE I COULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE EARLIER THAT DAY OR POSSIBLY FOR WEEKS WITH A FAULTY SELF BELT, GIVING ME A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY. THE DEALERSHIP WANTED EITHER US OR A DEALER REPRESENTATIVE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO BE FIXED. WE SAID ABSOLUTELY NOT, IT NEEDS TO BE TOWED. SEEMS TO ME THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT YOU CANT DRIVE A VEHICLE WITHOUT A WORKING SEAT BELT. ALL HYUNDAI SANTA FE VEHICLES SHOULD HAVE THE SEAT BELTS CHECKED. *TR
