The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. The contact stated while driving 20 mph, the vehicle loss motive power and the check charging system warning light illuminated before the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to coast and move the vehicle to the side of the roadway and waited for several minutes and restarted the vehicle. The contact continued to drive to his destination. The failure recurred several times. The local dealer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that since the vehicle was experiencing the failure intermittently, the vehicle could not be diagnosed until the failure occurred and the vehicle was taken in with while the failure was happening. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 29,000.

I HAD TWO CASE NUMBERS WITH HYUNDAI RELATED TO MY BRAKES AND FUEL EFFICIENCY; THE FIRST WAS HYUNDAI CONSUMER AFFAIRS CASE#: 12894630 AND THE SECOND WAS HYUNDAI CONSUMER AFFAIRS CASE#: 15512885. BOTH CASES WERE CLOSED PRIOR TO ME HAVING ANY SAY IN THE DECISION (EMAIL/PHONE RECORDS SHOW THIS). AFTER MY BRAKING UNIT FAILS FOR THE SECOND TIME AND I NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT DROP OFF IN FUEL PERFORMANCE (MPG), I ASKED FOR ANOTHER HYUNDAI REP TO TEST MY FUEL CONSUMPTION. WHEN THE RESULTS PROVED TO BE BETTER THAN I HAD EVER SEEN MY CAR PERFORM, EVER, I ASKED FOR THE REST SPECKS. THIS WAS ESCALATED TO HYUNDAI CORPORATE, WHO RESPONDED 'UNFORTUNATELY YOUR CASE MANAGER CANNOT PROVIDE ANY TSB'S BECAUSE IT IS PROPRIETARY INFORMATION. AS FAR AS WARRANTY EXTENSION, REGRETTABLY THAT IS NOT AN OPTION. HOWEVER, IF YOU WERE TO HAVE BRAKE CONCERNS OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY, HYUNDAI WILL REVIEW FOR GOODWILL IF THE PROBLEM IS SOMETHING THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY.' THIS ANSWER FAILED TO CONSIDER THE MILEAGE I WAS ALREADY LOSING IN MY HYBRID WHICH PERFORMED WORSE THAN A NON-HYBRID MODEL WHENEVER THE BRAKES WERE FAILING. I MADE GOOD FAITH EFFORTS TO REPORT MY PROBLEMS IN THE HOPE HYUNDAI WOULD RESOLVE THEM.
I WAS DRIVING IN THE RAIN ON 1/16/19 WITH MY SON, ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR STARTS BEEPING AND MY DASH BOARD SAYS STOP DRIVING NOW AND CHECK YOUR CHARGER SYSTEM AND AFTER ONE HOUR IT COMPLETELY DIED, HAD TO GET TOWED HOME, NOW THE DEALER SAYS THE PROBLEM WAS THE HIGH VOLTAGE RELAY AND CONNECTOR THAT GOES TO THE HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY ON THE CAR THAT CAUSED THE BATTERY TO FAIL AND CHARGER SYSTEM. NOW I'M TOLD I NEED TO BUY A NEW BATTERY AND I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE COVERED B THE WARRANTY SINCE THIS ISSUED CAUSED MY BATTERY TO DRAIN.
COMING HOME FROM A FUNERAL OUT OF TOWN. THE THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A CLICKING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. THEN THE VEHICLE STARTED SLOWING DOWN. WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE IT TO A GAS STATION AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THERE IS ALSO OIL LEAKAGE. IT WOULD TURN OVER, BUT STOP AGAIN. HAD TO PAY 700 TO TOW US AND THE VEHICLE HOME.
DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ABOUT 25 MPH AND CAR STUTTERED WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID TO PULL OVER, BUT EVERYTHING SHUT DOWN BEFORE I COULD. I BLOCKED TRAFFIC FOR 6 HOURS. DID NOT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT, BUT WAS VERY CLOSE TO ONE. EVERYTHING SHUT DOWN INCLUDING HAZARD LIGHTS. I WAS UNABLE TO EXIT VEHICLE DUE TO HEAVY TRAFFIC.
WAS DRIVING ABOUT 25 MPH AND IT SENT WARNING LIGHTS AND STUTTERED AND DIED IN FRONT OF RAILROAD TRACKS. VERY LUCKY IT DIDN'T DIE ON THE TRACKS.
WHILE DRIVING 65 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY, VEHICLE STARTED A RINGING NOISE AND AN ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED ON SCREEN "HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING! SAFELY STOP AND DO NOT DRIVE." AFTER THAT, "CHECK BRAKE ." APPEARED AND THE TWO MESSAGES KEPT SWITCHING BACK AND FORTH. THE VEHICLE THEN STARTED TO SLOW DOWN BY ITSELF AND THE BREAK PUSHED DOWN TO THE FLOOR BY ITSELF. THE BRAKES STARTED GRINDING AND I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED MOVING, ON THE HIGHWAY, WITH A SEMI RIGHT BEHIND ME. THE VEHICLE DID NOT ALLOW ME TO SAFELY STOP, IT STOPPED ON IT'S OWN. IF IT HAD NOT BEEN FOR A SHOULDER CLOSE ENOUGH TO COAST TO IT, A MAJOR ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. I WAS AN HOUR AWAY FROM HOME AND IN ORDER TO GET HOME I HAD TO KEEP PULLING OVER, CUTTING OFF VEHICLE, WAIT A FEW SECONDS, DRIVE AGAIN, PULL OVER, AND WAIT. I WAS ALMOST IN THREE ACCIDENTS. WHEN I GOT HOME, I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND MORE HYUNDAI OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I TRIED DRIVING IT BUT ONCE AGAIN, IT DID THE SAME THING, IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED ME AND SAID THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT I HAVE TO PAY $2700. SINCE THIS IS HAPPENING WITH OTHER VEHICLES, AND IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE, I FEEL HYUNDAI SHOULD FIX IT. I HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE A FEW MONTHS AGO WHERE THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY STOPPED WHILE I WAS DRIVING 45 MILES, IN TRAFFIC, WITH ERROR MESSAGE,HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING! SAFELY STOP AND DO NOT DRIVE." THE VEHICLE DOES NOT LET YOU SAFELY STOP, IT JUST STOPS. THAT ISSUE WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE HYBRID SYSTEM. I CALLED HYUNDAI OF AMERICA TO SEE IF THEY WOULD BUY IT BACK OR HELP ME OUT AND THE REPRESENTATIVE WAS VERY RUDE AND SAID NO. HYUNDAI DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE CONSUMER, JUST THE MONEY. PLEASE HELP.
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IS JUST DIED. NOT SURE WHAT PROBLEM WAS. CAN'T BE A BATTERY PROBLEM CAUSE THE CAR WAS RUNNING. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TRIED TO START THE BATTERY BUT THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM. I HAVE READ ALL OVER THE INTERNET WITH COMPLAINTS OF THIS HYBRID CAR JUST SHUTTING DOWN WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK AND A ONGOING PROBLEM. THE CAR IS A DEATH TRAP AND I REFUSE TO DRIVE IT ANYMORE. THE CAR ACCELERATION IS MET WITH A PAUSE WHEN TAKING OFF AS WELL. I WAS EXPLAINED ITS WHEN THE CAR SWITCHES FROM BATTERY TO ENGINE FOR POWER. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL GIVEN YOU COULD PUT YOURSELF OUT INTO A INTERSECTION AND NOT HAVE ENOUGH POWER OR THE HESITATION CAN PREVENT YOU FROM GOING. THE CAR IS THE WORST MADE CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED. I REFUSE TO DRIVE THIS CAR WITH ME OR MY DAUGHTERS LIFE IN JEOPARDY DUE TO THE PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. PLEASE FORWARD A COMPLAINT TO HYUNDAI CORPORATE OFFICE AS I WILL DO THE SAME. THANKS

HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING LIGHTS TURNED ON WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, ILLUMINATED "DO NOT DRIVE, PULL OVER SAFELY". TRIED TO PULL OVER SAFELY AND THE CAR STALLED AND WHEELS LOCKED. COULD NOT PULL OVER TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC.
TRANSMISSION ACTS LIKE IT IS SLIPPING AND SHIFTS ABNORMALLY IN FORWARD AND REVERSE, DRIVER WINDOW UP/DOWN BUTTON DOESN'T WORK CORRECTLY IT ONLY MAKES THE WINDOW GO UP 1/4 OF THE WAY SO YOU HAVE TO LET GO AND PRESS IT AGAIN. THE RADIO KEEPS SHOWING AND ERROR MESSAGE WAITING TO GET INTO THE DEALER
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO SLUDGE AND METAL FRAGMENTS ENTERING THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE STALLED MORE THAN TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO NORTH COUNTY HYUNDAI OF CARLSBAD (5285 CAR COUNTRY DR, CARLSBAD, CA 92008, (760) 929-4900) FOR THE FIRST REPAIR. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THEY REPLACED THE GSI BELTS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER A SECOND TIME WHO INDICATED THAT THE HYBRID BATTERY DETACHED. THE DEALER RE-ATTACHED THE BATTERY, BUT THIS DID NOT PREVENT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN AND WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V568000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
IT HAS OVERHEAT PROBLEM THAT HYUNDAI SERVICE COULDN'T FIX. IT BROKE DOWN 6 TIMES AND WAS 3 TIMES IN THE SHOP. 4/2/17, I WAS ON FASTEST LANE ON 101 FREEWAY IN DOWNTOWN LA. SUDDENLY THE CAR ALARM BEEPS. DASH BOARD DISPLAYED "HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING, SAFELY STOP AND DO NOT DRIVE". THE GAS PEDAL WAS HARD TO PRESS, (GUESS IT GOES INTO PROTECTION MODE. ) FORTUNATELY IT WAS IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC THAT NO CAR RAM INTO ME FROM BEHIND. I FORCED THE CAR SWITCHED LANES AND EXIT FREEWAY. AFTER I PARKED, THE CAR FROZED. I CAN'T TURN ON THE EMERGENCY SIGNAL. CAN'T SWITCH THE GEAR TO PARK, CAN'T TURN OFF THE ENGINE... I EXIT THE CAR AND WAVE CARS BEHIND ME MOVE AHEAD, THEN I GOT BACK THE CAR AND WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE. AFTER IT WAS OFF FOR 30 SECONDS, I CAN TURN THE ENGINE BACK ON AND THE CAR FUNCTIONS LIKE NORMAL. IT WAS UNDER 18000 MILES. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAYS THE COOLANT LEAK AND REPLACED IT. 5/15/17, WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY, I FELT THE CAR WAS INTO PROTECTION MODE, HARD TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR. BUT THE ALARM DIDN'T SOUND OFF. I SENT IT IN AND THE SERVICE COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO THEY RESET THE COMPUTER OF THE CAR. 6/5/17 THE CAR WAS PARKED IN HOT SUN IN PS FOR 30 MINUTES WHILE ME AND MY REALTOR GO TO CHECK A HOUSE. I STARTED THE CAR FOLLOWING MY REALTOR. I TURNED ON THE AC AND THE ALARM GOES OFF, SAME WARNING SIGN DISPLAYED AND THE CAR JUST FROZE. HYUNDAI SENT A TOW TRUCK AN HOUR LATER. AFTER IN THE SHOP OVERNIGHT, THE SERVICE DEPT SAYS THEY FIXED IT. 6/14. IN PS AGAIN. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN HOT SUN. I GOT IN AND TURN ON THE ENGINE. ALARMS GOES OFF SAME WARNING SIGN. 6/26, WITH A FRIEND ON WAY TO JULIAN, THE CAR ENGINE THRUST THE CAR FORWARD, A SMALL ICON LIT UP. I SLOWED DOWN AND PARKED , THE ALARM GOES OFF, SAME WARNING WORDS ON DASHBOARD. AFTER LET THE CAR COOL OFF, I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE BUT 20 MINUTES LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STOPPED, THE VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACTED STATED THAT THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEFT SHOULDER, NECK AND BACK WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION DUE TO THE SEAT BELT RETRACTING TOO TIGHT. THE DRIVER ALSO SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HIS NECK AND BACK WHICH ALSO NEEDED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ANY INJURIES OF THE OTHER VEHICLE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE STOPPED, THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK WITH NO WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS THE CONTACT TRADED-IN THE VEHICLE AT ROUND ROCK HYUNDAI DUE TO THINKING THERE WAS A FAILURE WITH THE SEAT BELTS AS THEY WOULD RETRACT AGGRESSIVELY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD TWO EXTENDED WARRANTIES BUT THE FAILURES WERE UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN SUDDENLY THE CHECK CHARGING LIGHT SYSTEM WARNING CAME ON, ALL 3 LIGHTS FOR OIL, BATTERY, AND ENGINE CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME! THE CAR STALLED WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO STEAR AND BRAKES DIDN'T WORK... I HAD TO COAST LUCKILY I WAS ONLY IN SECOND TO RIGHT LINE AND EASILY GOT TO EMERGENCY LANE!! THIS HAPPENED ON 101 IN CALIFORNIA DURING A BUSY TIME!!!
ABOUT AN HOUR INTO DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY, MY CAR ALERT SYSTEM WENT OFF AND THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY BEGAN TO DECELERATE AND THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY SHOWED INSTRUCTIONS TO CHECK HYBRID CHARGING SYSTEM AND TO CHECK SURROUNDINGS AND TO PULL OVER WHEN SAFE AND TO NOT DRIVE VEHICLE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THE NEEDS MAINTENANCE LIGHT AND THE CHECK OIL LIGHT ALL CAME ON. AFTER ABOUT 15 SECS MY VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER BUT DID NOT TURN OFF; THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME LOCKED. I PLACED THE CAR INTO PARK AND RESTARTED IT AND THE WARNING ALERT ALARM CEASED, BUT NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS MOVABLE AGAIN AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SHOULDER WHERE A CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL OFFICER PULLED UP AND ASKED ME IF I WAS HAVING TROUBLE. AFTER OUR CONVERSATION, I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE THE ADDITIONAL 40 MILE DRIVE HOME AS THE LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIPS WERE CLOSED UNTIL THE NEXT DAY, SATURDAY MARCH 18. I WAS ABLE TO DROP MY CAR OFF IN THE AFTERNOON BUT DUE TO THEIR BOOKED SCHEDULE, IT COULD NOT BE LOOKED AT UNTIL MONDAY MARCH 20TH AND STAYED OVER NIGHT. THE TECHNICIAN CALLED ME THAT DAY AND STATED THAT THE CAR TEST RAN ON IT CAME BACK PASSING AND NO ISSUES FOUND AND THAT THEY DROVE IT ABOUT 20 MILES AND NO ISSUES AND I WAS ABLE TO PICK UP MY CAR ON TUESDAY. HOWEVER, THE SAME SYSTEM ISSUE HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO TAKE IT BACK INTO THE DEALERAHIP LATER THAT WEEK AND IT HAS BEEN THERE AS OF 4/21/2017. I RECEIVED A CALL TODAY THAT A REPLACEMENT HYBRID BATTERY WAS INSTALLED AND AFTER MORE TESTS I MAY GET MY CAR BACK.
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR STARTED ALARMING SAYING CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM...IT IMMEDIATELY WENT TO 15 MILES AND HOUR WHILE I WAS ON I95 WHERE SPEED LIMIT IS 65 MPH. BY THE TIME I GOT HOME AND TURNED THE CAR OFF IT WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON. IVE HAD THIS CAR FOR A YEAR AND A HALF. I BOUGHT IT NEW.
A FEW MONTHS AGO THE VEHICLE STALLED AT A RED LIGHT. I FOUND COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME MAKE, YEAR AND MODEL STALLING ON OTHER OWNERS ON THE INTERNET. WENT TO DEALER AND AFTER NUMEROUS HOURS IN THE SHOP THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. TODAY MY 19 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS ON A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY WITH NO PULL OFF LANES, ONLY CEMENT BARRIERS. THE VEHICLE STALLED AT 60 MPH. SHE ALMOST DIED FROM BEING HIT BY A TRACTOR TRAILER. SHE WAS MISSED BY ONLY A FEW INCHES. THE VEHICLE DID START AGAIN AND SHE GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY. MADE COMPLAINT WITH HYUNDAI CONSUMER AFFAIRS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000.
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, A WARNING SIGN APPEARS IN MY DASH THAT SAYS DO NOT DRIVE.... MEAN WHILE IM ALREADY DRIVING.... CARS STARTS TO STALL AND WHEEL LOCKS. I GET THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT NIGHT AND THE NEXT DAY... WHICH IS TODAY I AM WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO CALL AND ASK ME WHAT HAPPENS AND NOTHING... SO I DECIDED TO DRIVE THERE AND WHAT DO I SEE..... MY CAR SITTING ON THE SIDE LIKE NO ONE CARS THAT IS THERE... WHEN I GO IN I FIND OUT THAT THERE IS ONLY 1 PERSON THAT WORKS ON HYBRIDS AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT... OH AND LETS NOT FORGET THEY DON'T DO LOANER CARS.. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR 1 YEAR AGO FROM THIS SAME DEALERSHIP...THEY CANT GIVE ME ANY TYPE OF ESTIMATE OF WHEN THE TECH WILL BE ABLE TO LOOK AT MY CAR... THIS IS VERY BAD SERVICE!!! WHY WOULD MY CAR STOP DRIVING AFTER HAVING IT ONLY A YEAR????? *TR
ON SAT, OCT 1, AT ABOUT 1 PM I WAS ABOUT TO COMPLETE PARKING THE VEHICLE IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE HUNTINGTON BEACH BRANCH OF CHASE BANK. I FORTUNATELY SELECTED A SITE ON FRONT OF A PLANTER SECTION WITH BUSHES, AS OTHERWISE THERE COULD HAVE BEEN INJURIES OR PROPERTY DAMAGE. I WAS ALMOST STOPPED AND WAS ABOUT TO PUT THE GEAR IN PARK, THE CAR SUDDENLY REVVED UP THE ENGINE AND ACCELERATED VIOLENTLY AND WITH GREAT FORCE, PROPELLING THE CAR OVER THE CEMENT CURBS OF THE PLANTER AND LANDED IN THE BUSHES. THE CAR COULD NOT BE REVERSED OUT OF THE BUSHES AS THE WHEELS WERE LODGED INSIDE THE PLANTER AREA. THE FRONT BUMPER, POSITION LIGHTS AND UNDERCARRIAGE WERE SERIOUSLY DAMAGED. AAA ROAD ASSISTANCE HAD TO BE CALLED TO PULL THE CAR OUT OF THE PLANTER. THE INCIDENT IS EXTREMELY SIMILAR TO OTHER SUCH INCIDENTS OF SUDDEN UNWANTED ACCELERATION DOCUMENTED IN YOUTUBE VIDEOS. WE HAVE OPENED A CLAIM WITH HYUNDAI, CASE # 962 9876.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM IS NON-FUNCTIONAL. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY, I HAVE HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKES QUICKLY, WHICH HAS REPEATEDLY CAUSED THE WHEELS TO LOCK UP AND THE CAR TO SKID. DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG, AND THAT THE BRAKES ARE ACTING NORMALLY.
I'VE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WITH ABS SYSTEMS. MY CURRENT CAR CLAIMS TO HAVE ABS, BUT IF I SLAM ON THE BRAKES, THEY LOCK. THAT IS NOT ABS. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND THE DEALER CLAIMED IT MET THEIR ABS STANDARDS. THE BRAKES DON'T MEET MY ABS STANDARDS. I HAVE HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, SOMETIMES GOING AS SLOWLY AS 20 MPH AND THE BRAKES LOCKED AND THE CAR SKIDDED.
PUSH BOTTON START DOESNT A LOT OF THE TIME SEVERAL TIMES A WEKK START THE ENGINE. ALSO, THE SUSPENSION IS TERRIBLY ROUGH. YOU CAN FEEL EVERY BUMP!
BREAK PEDAL UNUSUAL SOUND: WHEN STANDING STILL AND APPLYING PRESSURE TO BRAKE PEDAL, UNUSUAL NOISE CAN BE CLEARLY HEARD. I BELIEVE THIS NOISE SHOULD NOT BE PRESENT. SOUND IS REAPPEARING MORE THAN ONCE THROUGHOUT ALL BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL FROM UPPER POSITION TO ITS LOWEST POSITION. SOUND IS IF SOME METAL PART WAS RUBBING AGAINST EITHER ANOTHER METAL OR PLASTIC SURFACE.
WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATE PEDAL THERE SEEMS TO BE A DELAY IN RESPONSE. THE DELAY CAN BE AS SHORT AS A FEW MILLISECONDS TO ALMOST 3 ENTIRE SECONDS. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS RANDOMLY, AND MAKES MY WIFE AND I VERY NERVOUS WHEN TRYING TO MANEUVER OR PROCEED INTO TRAFFIC AFTER BEING STOPPED.
THIS VEHICLE HAS ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP THE CAR TRACKING STRAIGHT. IT IS NOT A TIRE ISSUE, NOR IS IT A CROWN IN THE ROAD ISSUE. THE VEHICLE MUST CONTINUOUSLY BE CORRECTED TO KEEP IN A STRAIGHT LINE. WINDY CONDITIONS CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO RADICALLY RESPOND TO ADJUSTMENTS, SO DOES A LARGE TRUCK IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE. HYUNDAI STATES THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE. IF YOU GO ONLINE, THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF HYUNDAI CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME ELECTRIC STEERING ISSUES MIMICKING MY ISSUES TO A TEE, AND THEY SAY HYUNDAI IS "STONEWALLING" THEM, TELLING THEM THERE IS NOTHING WRONG, THERE IS LEARNING CURVE DRIVING AN ELECTRIC POWER STEERING VEHICLE. HOW CAN THOUSANDS OF HYUNDAI CUSTOMERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM? WHY ISN'T YOUR ORGANIZATION LOOKING INTO TO THIS? THERE WAS A RECALL OF THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ON HYUNDAI VEHICLES IN 2007. DOESN'T THAT SHOW YOU THAT THEY HAD A PROBLEM, AND MAYBE THEY ONLY PUT A BANDAID ON AN OPEN WOUND? FINALLY, I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON ROUTE 295 SOUTH IN NJ 3 WEEKS AGO. A NJ STATE TROOPER FOLLOWED BEHIND ME FOR 2 MILES THEN PULLED ME OVER. I ASKED "WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM"? THE OFFICER SAID WHILE FOLLOWING YOU THERE WASN'T ANY TIME YOU WERE ABLE TO STAY IN YOUR LANE. I TOLD ABOUT MY ISSUE WITH ELECTRIC POWER STEERING AND SHOWED HIM THE E-MAILS TO HYUNDAI. HE MADE ME GET OUT OF MY CAR, AND GAVE ME A SOBRIETY TEST. I PASSED OF COURSE. THEN HE ASKED IF HE COULD INSPECT THE INSIDE OF MY VEHICLE. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT! HE WAS LOOKING FOR ALCOHOL OR DRUGS. OF COURSE THERE WAS NONE, AND HE GAVE ME A WARNING. HYUNDAI TO THIS DAY REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY PROBLEM WITH THERE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. I DON'T WANT TO ENDANGER MYSELF OR ANYBODY ELSE WITH THIS DANGEROUS VEHICLE. PLEASE LOOK INTO MY COMPLAINT, AND THE THOUSAND OF OTHERS WHO ARE ALSO DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START (PUSH BUTTON) .
STOPPED AT A INTERSECTION, BRAKE LIGHT WARNING CAME ON, CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. TOWED TO HYUNDAI DEALER, HYDRAULIC BOOSTER HAD SHORT, HYDRAULIC BOOSTER REPLACED. WONDERING WHY THE ELECTRONICS DO NOT HAVE A DUAL CHANNEL OPERATION TO ALLEVIATE THE POSSIBILITY OF BEING STRANDED IN AN UNDESIRABLE OR DANGEROUS LOCATION.
