The cylinder 3 connecting rod broke and shot a hole through my engine block. It also sucked metal pieces into my turbo and damaged my starter. This is the exact same issue that the 2.0 liter engines have and yet I have to pay out of pocket for my repairs. I was on the interstate going 70 mph when this happened. What if instead of shooting down, it shot back towards me? What if my child was in the car? Now Kia won’t cover this and I think they should. I took the car to multiple mechanics and not one of them told me this could happen. The check engine light kept coming on, I kept being told to replace the spark plugs and the ignition coils and it never resolved my issue. These were Kia certified dealers. Now one of these Kia certified dealers wants to charge me $13,000 to replace the engine and the turbo. That’s more than the car is worth and now I’m stuck with the car payment of a car that failed and not bc of my own doing.
Every few months my car won’t crank. I have to get it towed to the dealership. They normally change the spark plugs and it runs again. Recently, they changed the spark plugs but I was also told that I had an engine oil leak(which is very hazardous), oil is leaking onto my engine which is causing my spark plugs to burn out so quick. They claimed they didn’t know what was causing it and told me I would have to wait until my car breaks down completely before being able to know exactly what’s causing it. Informed me that changing the spark plugs is only a temporary fix and I would go through this process again(my car not cranking and spark plugs needing to be replaced).
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Forte. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, a burning smoke odor was detected. The contact pulled over and noticed there was smoke coming from under the hood. Additionally, there were engine parts that had melted and a puddle of fluid on the ground. A bystander assisted the contact in pushing the vehicle to her residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V750000 (Engine). The VIN was included in the recall; however, the contact did not receive a recall notification. The failure mileage was 99,880.
I recently went to the dealership to get a diagnostic's test on December 22nd, 2021. I bought the car October 14th, 2020. My vehicle had a recall on it that was issued in December 2020 and they claim it was fixed a few years ago despite the car only being 5 years old. I believe they did not fix it and sold the car to me As-Is knowing they installed a faulty aftermarket part. From my understanding, Catalytic Convertors are supposed to last around 10 years but the car was only 5 years old at the time of purchase, meaning they replaced it prior to me buying the car. I went in and they claim my catalytic converter was no good and I would have to spend $1700 to replace it. I feel like it is a money grab where they clear the codes on the vehicle, sell it knowing there are issues with no warranty, and then wait for the customer to return to pay to fix the vehicle. I believe the recall was never repaired despite them saying they did as I am having a lot of the issues customers faced with the recall and I am genuinely concerned for my safety and finances as this car cannot pass an emissions test despite them claiming it passed (again, probably cleared the codes to pass). I feel like the vehicle needs to be relooked at and repaired by them since they sold it with aftermarket parts they installed when a Kia dealership should only be repairing and replacing with genuine parts manufactured by Kia, not a third party. Again, just because they sold it "As is" with issues they potentially created should be illegal and they need to be held accountable. I will report to BBB and an consumer attorney. The engine idles and the vehicle slows down and speeds up while driving. There is a gurgling and knocking sound while the engine idles.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Forte. The contact stated while driving at 45 MPH, he heard an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic for an oil change. The contact stated that while driving for approximately two miles down the road the knocking sound returned. The contact veered to the side of the road and attempted to restart the vehicle and heard another loud knocking sound coming from the engine. The vehicle would not restart. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic who inspected the vehicle and diagnosed the failure as rod blown in the engine and that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact then had the vehicle towed to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The dealer confirmed the previous diagnosis and informed the contact that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V750000 (Engine). The contact spoke with local dealer about the recall and was informed that the vehicle no longer qualified for the repair because the vehicle had exceeded the 150,000-mile threshold. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 201,100.
2015 forte with 1.8l engine. Rod nock noise developed after 104k miles. Loss of power and drivability is decreasing. No diagnostic lights on. Called Kia and was told that the 1.8L are not under the recall. However there are several 1.8 motors exhibiting the same symptoms. Oil changes have been done at suggested intervals. I believe the recall needs to be expanded. Kia wants me to take to dealer to verify. ASE mechanic has looked at it.
Engine has blown a rod. Inspected and confirmed by certified auto mechanic.(Lucky's Amoco Service) No warnings or lights were present at time of vehicle breakdown.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Forte. The contact stated that after accelerating from a red light the driver-side airbag suddenly deployed. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the passenger side tire had also flattened. During the incident, the driver sustained an injured right arm. The contact indicated that no collision or frontend damage had occurred to cause the failure. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 180,000.
My motor blew at 63k miles in Nov 2018. I was driving and it make a loud awful sound and was on fire and smoking and there was a huge hole in my engine. The kia warranty had just passed and they refused to cover the replacement

While the vehicle is driving, the engine light, oil light, and battery light will turn on and the engine will turn off, effectively stalling the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic, and they could not determine the problem nor a solution. The car was then taken to a Kia shop, and a faulty oil sensor and faulty crank sensor were determined to be the problem. The sensors were replaced, and the car made it under 6 miles before it stalled again. A broken engine is now determined to be the problem. The car has approximately 66,500-66,600 miles on it, so a broken engine due to consumer error is highly unlikely, since the car has been getting its oil changed and other upkeep regularly throughout the cars life. The car has stalled at 40mph, to like 5mph when i was backing out of a parking spot. The speed of the car does not seem to effect when it stalls, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to when it stalls. I have gone on a 5 mile trip and it stalls 5 times, and i have gone on a 30 mile trip where it only stalled twice.

Car engine caught on fire while driving without any indication. Car stopped and engulfed in flames. Car dashboard warning lights were not present until fire began but car shut off due to fire. The car was a total loss. Driver and passengers life were at risk. Exited car within seconds of car engulfing
Car was running great. No issues, had my regular oil changes and check ups. I was driving down the road and a piston rod blew in my engine. But oil was in my engine.
Water leaks from under the dash covering the floor. And making the brand and acceleration peddles wet and slick. Slowing to stop at my hom and my foot slide from the brake peddle and was unable to safely slow down before impacting my husband’s truck.
The engine seized up and smoke was noted on April 29, 2021. The vehicle was towed to Woodstock Carriage Kia, after being told that vehicle would start being repaired within 1 to 3 days. The service dated has been changed 3 times. Three months later, the dealer still does not have the short block engine from South Korea. The dealer did state that Kia would reimburse me for towing and a rental car (will not pay taxes or insurance for a rental car) eventually after car is repaired. I do not have the financial resources to pay for a rental car upfront for an unknown time period. The dealer stated they only have one loaner car, which they will not loan to me. The dealer also explained there are vehicles on the lot that have been sitting there since Nov. 2020, waiting for engines due to this recall. This is unacceptable. I need my car to be repaired. Thank you.

While driving, my engine started knocking. I stopped driving and turned off my car. I had it towed to a shop and was informed it was the same issue as the recall for 2.4 engines and told me to call Kia. Kia said it’s not covered under the recall so they won’t look at it.
The engine has lower engine knocking. It has a rod knocking very loud. It could throw a rod through engine at any time, cause the vehicle to wreck and catch on fire. Yes, it was confirmed that it had a rod knocking in engine. yes, An ASE Certified mechanic. No check engine light came on. It just started knocking real bad and lost power.They appeared as I was driving down the road.

My car engine burns oil like crazy. I received a recall notice and brought my vehicle to Gary Rome Kia in Enfield. I brought it in with the check engine light on as it was on listed conditions for the recall and when i was told everything passed i still had a check engine light and excessive burning of oil. The engine is not working properly and wasn't rectified during the recall process. I am afraid with how much oil it is burning it may lead to a fire in the engine compartment. I have followed all of the usual recommended services and was not made whole during the recall event.

The air bags failed to deploy. The contact stated his daughter sustained whiplash and was taken to the hospital. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a lot, where it was totaled. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.
THE CAR WAS BOUGHT IN JAN 2021 FROM A DEALERSHIP WITH UNDER 20,000 MILES. IT WAS NOT INSPECTED BY THE DEALERSHIP PRIOR TO THEM SELLING IT.THEY DID NOT OFFER A WARRANTY ON THIS CAR. IN APRIL 2021, THE ENGINE DIED. THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE AT THIS TIME, BUT CLEARLY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS MOTOR. 0
PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURE, MECHANIC NOTICE METAL PIECES IN THE OIL FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS 120,289 MILES. ENGINE WAS KNOCKING, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND OIL LIGHT ILLUMINATED. WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, MAKES LOUD NOISES, PUTTERS, KNOCKS AND THEN STALLS. CANNOT USE ON HIGHWAY, TOO DANGEROUS, IT WONT GO HIGH SPEEDS. I HAVE OIL CHANGES RECEIPTS FOR THE ENTIRE 120K MILES.
JUST FINANCED FROM A DEALER ON 4/12, HAD MAJOR OIL LEAK, HAD TO RETURN TO DEALERSHIP. SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN FIXED, BUT CURRENTLY STILL HAVE A BAD OIL LEAK. I FIRST NOTICED 3/1/2021 THAT MY CAR WAS USING HIGHER RPMS THAN NORMAL. THEN THE FOLLOWING MORNING OF 3/2/2021 WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ON IT IMMEDIATELY STARTED MAKING A TICKING/WINDING SOUND WHEN I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL. BY THE END OF THE DAY THE NOISE AND ISSUE HAD GOTTEN WORSE WHEN I WAS TRYING TO DRIVE. IT STARTED NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE AT ALL AND FINALLY IT STARTED SMOKING AND TURNED COMPLETELY OFF AND LEAVING ME STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.
I MADE A FORMER COMPLAINT REGARDING OIL CONSUMPTION. I THEN BROUGHT MY KIA FORTE5 IN DUE TO CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE & KNOCKING (OIL CONSUMPTION WAS THE SYMPTOM). IT ALSO HAD A RATTLING NOISE WHICH WE SUSPECTED MAY BE THE CAT. LONG STORY SHORT, KIA HASN'T PAID A DIME FOR THIS, DESPITE THERE BEING A RECALL WHICH INCLUDES MY VIN. THE DEALERSHIP HAS COME UP WITH EVERY EXCUSE IN THE BOOK TO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. MY SHORT BLOCK MAY BE REPAIRED, BUT NOW THEY'RE SAYING I NEED TO PAY $2700 FOR A NEW CAT & MUFFLER... WHICH WAS DAMAGED FROM THE DEFECTIVE/RECALLED ENGINE. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THE DEALERSHIP & CONSUMER ASSISTANCE CENTER HAS BEEN DEPLORABLE AT BEST. THIS HAS BEEN THE MOST STRESSFUL EXPERIENCE. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THEIR SHOP FOR OVER A MONTH. THEY ALSO ARE CHARGER ME FOR NEW SPARK PLUGS, EVEN THOUGH I WOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO BUY THEM RIGHT NOW IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE DEFECTIVE ENGINE. OH, THE TWO-WEEK LATE LOANER THEY FINALLY GOT TO ME? THEY DECIDED TO CALL ME AND TELL ME DAY-OF THAT THEY WERE NO LONGER COVERING IT AND WOULD CHARGE ME $35/DAY - NO WARNING. IT DOESN'T TAKE A ROCKET SCIENTIST TO FIGURE OUT THAT THE ENGINE FAILURE CAUSED SYSTEMIC ISSUES, WHICH SHOULD MORE CERTAINLY BE COVERED BY KIA.

WHILE DRIVING IN CITY OR HIGHWAY, YOU HEAR ENGINE NOISE, SEE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT, ILLUMINATION OF THE LOW OIL WARNING LIGHT. THEN VEHICLE PROPULSION STOPS SUDDENLY, CONTINUES TO COAST BUT PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR HAS NO EFFECT, THE ENGINE DOESN'T REV. STOPPING, TURNING OFF ENGINE FOR 30 OR MORE MINUTES MAY ALLOW VEHICLE TO START AND MOVE AGAIN. ALSO FUEL SMELL.
AFTER HEARING THE CAR WAS MAKING A STRANGE SOUND WHILE IN MOTION AND BRINGING IT INTO THE DEALER 3 TIMES OVER THE SPAN OF A YEAR, IT WAS IDENTIFIED THAT BOTH FRONT CALIPERS WERE FROZEN/BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. BEFORE REALIZING THAT THIS WAS THE ISSUE, THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL BEARING, FRONT BRAKE PADS, AND REAR BRAKES ALL WERE REPLACED AS A RESULT OF OVERCOMPENSATING FOR THE CALIPERS.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, NO ASSISTANCE WOULD BE PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,000.
I HAD SUDDENLY ENGINE MADE SOUND SHUTTER , I ALMOST GOT HIT BY 18 WHEEL TRUCK, I MANAGER TO PULL FINELLY AND AVOID ACCIDENT AND MANAGE TO PULL RIGHT, FIRAR IT WAS CLOSE TO SIDE RAILS . THE CAR HAD SP MUCH ENGINE NOISE , AND IT CUTS OF. 1.8 ENGINE WAS WONDERFULL . I WANNA THIS ENGINE TO REPKACED BY DEALER HAS ONLY 78 THOUSANDS MILES
AT NIGHT WITH THE LIGHTS ON AND DRIVING OR NOT, WHEN YOU USE THE TURN SIGNAL THE HEAD LIGHTS WILL GO OFF. IF YOU WIGGLE THE BLINKER ARM, THEY WILL COME BACK ON. BUT YOU ARE DRIVING WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO SEE BECAUSE THE LIGHTS GO OFF. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME.

THE ENGINE BEGAN, WITHOUT WARNING, CONSUMING THE OIL. THE ENGINE THEN BEGAN MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE THAT IS NOW IRREPARABLE WITHOUT REPLACEMENT. THIS KNOCKING NOISE, DUE TO LOW OIL, WAS NOT PRECEDED BY THE "OIL LIGHT," AS I HAD RECENTLY RECEIVED AN OIL CHANGE. THE CAR NOW STRUGGLES TO ACCELERATE AND I HAVE TO ADD OIL EVERY 2 WEEKS OR SO. THIS IS A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH OTHER KIA MODELS, WITH THE SAME ENGINE, THAT WILL BE INVOLVED IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN JANUARY 2021.
WE WERE NOT EXPERIENCING ANY ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK IN THE CITY AND THE CAR STOPPED RUNNING DUE TO ENGINE ISSUES. IT APPEARS TO BE EXACTLY WHAT IS IN THE RECENT RECALL BUT OUR CAR IS NOT INCLUDED. THERE WAS AN OIL LEAK THAT WAS NOT NOTICEABLE AT ALL.

LOSS OF ENGINE POWER RESULTS IN RAPID ENGINE DECELERATION OF VEHICLE UNTIL STOPPED AT WHICH POINT THE ENGINE REGAINS POWER. VEHICLE HAS RECEIVED MAINTENANCE IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE CYCLE.

I KNOW THEY CALL IT COLD START FOR A REASON BUT THIS IS NOT COMMON WITH OTHER VEHICLES I OWNED THAT WERE 2015S. NOW THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A TICKING OR KNOCKING NOISE. CURRENTLY THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND WITH THE OTHER COMPLAINTS THAT ARE MATCHING EXACTLY UP TO MINE WHY ISNT THIS PROBLEM BEING INVESTIGATED OR RECALLED? ENGINE HAS INTERNAL DAMAGE; UNCLEAR EXACTLY WHERE, BUT LISTENING TO A COLD START FROM UNDER THE CAR SEEMS TO INDICATE A ROD BEARING. REMOVING THE OIL PAN COULD HELP DIAGNOSE, BUT IT ISN'T RECOMMENDED AS A REPLACEMENT ENGINE IS THE BEST SOLUTION REGARDLESS. HE ADDED 2.5 QTS. OF OIL SINCE IT WAS BURING OIL. HE RECOMMENDED WE TAKE IT TO A KIA DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS. WE CALLED THE DEALER TWICE TO SETUP AN APT. TO HAVE THE CAR LOOKED AT. THE DEALER SAID WE DIDN'T NEED TO BRING IT IN FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE KIA HEADLIGHTS REGULARLY AND SUDDENLY TURNED OFF AND FLICKERED BACK ON WITH VARYING DURATION WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION UNDER NORMAL USE. THIS WAS NOTICEABLE AT NIGHT WHEN EVERYTHING WAS DARK AND SUDDENLY THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF WHEN WE NEEDED THEM AND QUITE OFTEN WHILE MAKING A TURN. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED MORE FREQUENTLY WHEN THE TURNING SIGNAL WAS ACTIVATED WHICH IMPACTED THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE FOR BOTH THE PASSENGERS AND OTHER SURROUNDING CARS AND PEOPLE. DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH NO STREET LIGHTS ON A 2-LANE ROAD WITH INCOMING TRAFFIC, THEN PLANNING A TURN AND ACTIVATING THE TURNING SIGNAL CAUSED SOME CONCERNS TO BOTH THE KIA DRIVER AND THE INCOMING VEHICLES WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF AND CAUSED LOSS OF VISIBILITY AT NIGHT AT THE WRONG MOMENT. IT IS NOT GOOD TO NOT SEE AND NOT BE SEEN. I BELIEVE THIS WAS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT INCREASED THE RISK OF ACCIDENT PARTICULARLY AT NIGHT. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP AND HAD IT FIXED FOR ABOUT $400 TOTAL (PARTS AND LABOR) BUT I FEEL THIS HEADLIGHT ISSUE IS NOT NORMAL AND SERIOUS ENOUGH TO BE REPORTED TO HELP PREVENT UNFORTUNATE ACCIDENTS.
THE CAR STATED HAVING A LIGHT KNOCKING ON AND OFF, THEN STARTED CUTTING OUT AND STUTTERING. IT PROGRESSED AND NOW THE ENGINE WILL MAKE A NOISE LIKE A DIESEL ENGINE ON AND OFF AND THE CAR WILL GO DEAD STOPPED IN TRAFFIC AND ALSO WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD OR INTERSTATE.

THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US WE WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE AND THE KNOCK WAS COMING FROM THE LOW END. WE HAVE RELIGIOUSLY SERVICED THE VEHICLE, AND THE CAR ONLY HAD 80,000 MILES WHEN THE ENGINE BLEW. CLEARLY THIS IS A FAILURE OF THE MANUFACTURER, BUT BECAUSE WE ARE NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNERS, KIA REFUSES TO PROVIDE THE REPAIRS THEY KNOW THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR.

IT STARTED KNOCKING & WE WERE ABLE TO GET TO MECHANIC, HE SAID IT LOOKED LIKE THE OIL HAD NOT BEEN CHANGED NEEDED OIL AND HE CLEANED THE ENGINE AND MADE SURE EVERYTHING WAS IN WORKING ORDER. NO LEAKS WERE DETECTED. 1000 MILES LATER HEAR A CLANKING SOUND AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT IN THE DRIVEWAY AND CAR SHUT OFF. WHEN I TRIED TO START IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER AND WHEN I LOOKED UNDER HOOD THERE WAS A SPARK. LOOKED TO BE NO OIL PUT IN 2 QUARTS AND LET IT SIT OVER NIGHT. CHECKED OIL AGAIN BEFORE ADDING ANYMORE & LEVELS WERE FINE. MECHANIC SAID ENGINE WAS DONE. THE OIL IS GOING SOMEWHERE & THIS MODEL HAS A TOYOTA ENGINE, SO I THINK SOMETHING ELSE IS GOING ON. WE HAVE KEPT UP WITH ALL MAINTENANCE ON THIS VEHICLE. WE TRAVEL ALL HIGHWAY AND IT DOES HAVE 200,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE HAD HONDAS & TOYOTAS & NO PROBLEMS. I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER KIA. I STARTED THE CAR AND PROCEEDED TO LEAVE MY BOYFRIENDS HOUSE. AS SOON AS I MADE THE LEFT TURN OUT INTO THE STREET I HEARD THIS KNOCKING IN THE FRONT OF THE CAR I'M ASSUMING THAT WAS THE ENGINE THEN SUDDENLY ! THE CAR MADE THIS LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND I IMMEDIATELY EXPERIENCED LOSS OF POWER WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AS SOON AS I MADE THE LEFT HAND TURN INTO THE STREET THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AS IF THE CAR WAS ABOUT TO CATCH FIRE ! THANK GOD ME AND MY BOYFRIEND WERE ABLE TO PUSH THE CAR OUT OF THE STREET INTO A PARKING LOT IN NUETRAL. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TOWED TO A SHOP USING MY INSURANCE AND I HAD TO LEAVE IT AT THE SHOP OVERNIGHT IN THEIR PARKING LOT BECAUSE THEY WERE CLOSED FOR FATHER'S DAY. THE NEXT DAY I GET A CALL FROM THE SHOP AND THEY SAID THEY TRIED TO JUMPSTART IT, THE CHECKED THE BATTERY, OIL LEVEL, AND THEY SAID THE REASON FOR THE ENGINE FAILURE WAS NOT OIL RELATED THEY SAID IT WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I HAD TO GO AND AND LOOK FOR AN ENGINE TO REPLACE THE FAILED ENGINE. IT COSTS ME ALOOOOOOT OF MONEY ! I ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 2 YEARS. I GOT IT AT A DEALERSHIP BUT MY WARRANTY EXPIRED SO I WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR IT THROUGH THE WARRANTY. THE CAR JUST HIT 87,000 MILES ! I GOT THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP AT 54,000 MILES. I CALLED KIA CUSTOMERS SERVICE AND THEY SAID I NEEDED TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A KIA DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. $300 LATER, THE KIA MECHANIC REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT IT WOULD COST $10,000 TO GET FIXED. KIA OFFERED US $500 TOWARDS THE REPAIR. THOUSANDS OF OTHER KIA ENGINES HAVE BEEN RECALLED. PLEASE HOLD KIA RESPONSIBLE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT!

I WENT IN TO GET THE CAR CHECKED AT A KIA DEALERSHIP, BUT WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO CALL AND SEE IF WARRANTY WOULD COVER THE PARTS, IF NOT IT'LL BE OVER $600 PLUS $165 FOR THE DIAGNOSIS. THIS IS TOO MUCH FOR A PART OF A CAR I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER, AND ESPECIALLY TOO EARLY FOR A CAR THAT IS SAID TO BE A NEW MODEL. THE REPRESENTATIVE STATED TO TAKE IT TO A KIA DEALER AND THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO SEE RECALL AND REPAIR. I CALLED KIA AND MADE AN APPT. FOR 07/18/19 SPOKE WITH DJ. KIA STATED THAT AN EMISSIONS UPDATE IN THE CAR COMPUTER WAS DONE, NO PAPERWORK WAS GIVEN TO ME. THE NEXT MORNING, WHILE GOING TO WORK, I NOTICED THAT MY CAR WAS SMOKING- A BIG CLOUD OF SMOKE AND THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL SO I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR BACK TO KIA AND 1ST SPOKE WITH DJ. THE SMOKE WAS LIGHTER BY THIS TIME BUT COULD BE SEEN. THEN, I SPOKE WITH KEVIN WHO STATED THAT THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING AND THAT THE CAR WAS NOT SMOKING ANY LONGER. HE GOT ONE OF THE CAR TECHNICIANS TO DRIVE THE CAR WITH ME TO SEE IF IT WILL START BACK SMOKING, IT DID NOT, THE EMISSIONS IGHT WAS NOT SHOWING SO KEVIN STATED TO BRING IT BACK IF THE EMISSIONS LIGHT COMES BACK ON. ON 07/27/19, A STRONG SMELL OF ENGINE FUMES CAME THROUGH THE VENTS INSIDE THE CAR AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I BROUGHT MY CAR BACK TO KIA AND SPOKE WITH ROB AND LEFT MY CAR THERE, HE STATED THAT IT WAS A SMALL LEAK AND HE BELIEVED IT WAS THE GAS CAP SEAL AND HE RAN DIAGNOSTIC 3 TIMES BUT DID NOT HAVE CAP BUT WILL ORDER IT. TWO WEEKS LATER, I CALLED ABOUT CAP, IT WAS NEVER ORDERED AND SPOKE WITH KEVIN AGAIN AND MADE ANOTHER APPT. TO BRING CAR IN AND GAS CAP WAS REPLACED BUT LIGHT WAS STILL ON. THEY STATED THAT THEY NEEDED TO ORDER A PART TO DO ANOTHER DIAGNOSTICS AND PART IS NOT IN 2 WEEKS LATER. MY CAR IS STILL NOT FIXED WITH NO RESOLUTION IN SIGHT.

TAKATA INFLATORS? RECEIVE VOLUNTARY EMISSION RECALL NOTICE FROM KIA 1/16/18 TOOK CAR IN TO BE SERVICE FOR THE RECALL 2/3/18 TO KIA OF EAST HARTFORD, CT- DROVE CAR OFF THE LOT ONTO THE HIGHWAY. LOUD SOUND AND BLACK SMOKE FROM REAR END OF THE CAR, ALL LIGHTS CAME ON AND CAR STALLED. CALL SERVICE DEPARTMENT IMMEDIATELY AND WAS TOLD TO TURN CAR ON AND OFF, THAT THE COMPUTER HAD TO RESET. MADE A COMPLAINT TICKET WITH KIA MANUFACTURER REF#12976894 BUT HAS GOTTEN NO WHERE. IN ADDITION COMPLAINT WAS MADE 07/07/18 THAT WHEN TRYING TO MAKE A STOP AND THE GROUND SURFACE IS UNEVEN THE CAR WOULD JERK AND PROPEL FORWARD. WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THAT IS HOW THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM WORK. COMPLAINED TO KIA REGARDING THE MULTIPLE TIMES OF NEAR MISSED ACCIDENTS DUE TO MECHANICAL BRAKING SYSTEM AND CAR STALLS. THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AFTER MY VEHICLE WAS BUMPED BY ANOTHER CAR WHILE SITTING STILL IN MY DRIVEWAY. MY CAR INSURANCE COMPANY SAYS THAT IT WAS NOT CAUSED BY THE ACCIDENT AND KIA SAYS THAT IT WILL NOT FIX IT UNDER THE WARRANTY SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE.

I TOOK IT BACK BECAUSE THE SOUND WAS WORSE 3 WEEKS LATER. THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE $7702 OR THEY COULD CHECK THE ENGINE FOR $2000 AND REPLACE IT IF NEEDED THE PRICE WOULD BE $7702 PLUS TAX. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY IT SOUNDED WORSE AFTER THE TUNE UP OR WHY THEY DID NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM BEFORE THE TUNE. THEY SAID IT WAS INTERNAL ENGINE FAILURE.

THE HIT WAS SO HARD THAT IT BENT THE FRAME OF MY CAR AT THE MID-LINE AND EVEN BENT THE ROOF OF MY VEHICLE. THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY KIA DEALERSHIP IN EL CAJON, CA. THEY LOOKED AT IT AND TOLD ME MY ENGINE SEIZED AND THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN. I BOUGHT THIS CAR 11 MONTHS AGO AS A CPO AND IT IS WITHIN THE WARRANTY OF 10 YRS/100,000 MILES. I'VE ONLY PUT 21,000 MILES ON IT. THEY ARE ASKING FOR MY MAINTENANCE RECORDS AND ARE HAVING A SPECIAL INVESTIGATOR TO COME OUT ON 7/31/2018 TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. I HAVE HAD ONE OIL CHANGE DONE AT THE DEALER IN JANUARY OF 2018, THE REST OF THE OIL CHANGES I DID ON MY OWN. THE LAST OIL CHANGE WAS JUST 2 WEEKS AGO. THE DEALERSHIP IS NOW TELLING ME THAT IT'S UP TO THE INVESTIGATOR TO DECIDE IF THE ENGINE WAS DEFECTIVE AND IF THEY'LL COVER MY ENGINE UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. WHEN I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER IN JANUARY 2018, I INFORMED THE MECHANIC THAT THERE WAS A KNOCKING/PINGING NOISE IN THE ENGINE, HE TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS NORMAL. THEY NEVER DOCUMENTED MY COMPLAINT. AFTER READING ABOUT ALL THE PROBLEMS WITH THESE ENGINES AND HOW KIA IS HANDLING THESE PROBLEMS, I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THEY'LL HONOR THE WARRANTY. I THEN LEARNED THAT A NUMBER OF OTHER KIA VEHICLES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS SAME TYPE OF FAILURE. I CALLED KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE (I ALSO OWN A 2012 THAT WILL BE UNDER THE RECALL). THE REP TOLD ME THAT MINE MAY SHOW UP, BUT I JUST NEEDED TO WAIT. I WANT TO ENSURE THAT I REPORT MINE BECAUSE THE ISSUE PROBABLY GOES BEYOND THE 2012.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO A TIRE SHOP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE'S RIMS WERE TOO LARGE AND THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH DISTANCE BETWEEN THE RIM AND THE ROAD, WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND SOLD THE CONTACT THE FIRST NEW TIRE. A DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO ISSUE. THIS WAS A 4 CAR ACCIDENT CAR 2 HIT CAR 1 AND THEN CAR 3 HIT CAR 2 LEAVING CAR 3 SITTING IN ROAD WHICH I HIT CAR 3. ALL BECAUSE CAR 2 WAS LOOKING AT A ACCIDENT IN MEDIAN. I ASKED TO HAVE CAR BRAKES CHECKED AND THEY SAID IT WOULD COST TO MUCH TO HIRE ENGINEERS TO CHECK OVER.
I HAVE A COMPLAINT AGAINST NALLEY KIA, LITHONIA, GA, AND THE EFFECTIVE TIRES THEY ARE PUTTING O THE KIA FORTE. I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE MANAGER CHAD DALTON, THAT THE TIRE WITH THE BUBBLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE ROAD HAZARD WARRANTY. HE TRIED TO SAY I HAD HIT A POTHOLE AND THAT IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE TIRE. I HAVEN'T HIT A POTHOLE. I HAVE LOOKED ON YOUR SITE AND I SEE OTHER ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE THIS TIRE REPLACED, I HAVE ONLY 34,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND THEY ARE THE ORIGINAL 50,000 MILES TIRE.
THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AS I BACKED OUT OF MY GARAGE IN MARCH OF 2016. I PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE AND BEGAN TO PUSH THE GAS TO BACK OUT. THE CAR ENGINE REVVED LOUDLY AND THE CAR SHOT OUT OF THE GARAGE. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I THEN PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR STILL DID NOT SLOW DOWN; IT CONTINUED TO PICK UP SPEED. AT THIS POINT, I HAD GONE DOWN MY DRIVEWAY ACROSS THE STREET AND WAS IN MY NEIGHBORS' DRIVEWAY HEADED TOWARD THEIR HOUSE. THEN, I TRIED PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK AND THAT STILL DID NOT STOP OR EVEN SLOW DOWN THE CAR. IT JUST MADE A TERRIBLE NOISE. WHEN I ASKED WHAT INFORMATION WAS GATHERED FROM THE CONTROL MODULE, I WAS TOLD THAT NO HISTORY CODES WERE SHOWN. SO, ACCORDING TO THEM THERE WAS NO RECORD OF ME BRAKING OR THE CAR ACCELERATING. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THAT IS POSSIBLE. I ASKED TWICE FOR COPIES OF THE ACTUAL TESTS AND DATA THAT WAS DOWNLOADED FROM THE CONTROL MODULE, BUT DID NOT RECEIVE THEM. I WAS TOLD THE INFORMATION WAS TYPED WORD FOR WORD IN THE SUMMARY SECTION OF THE RECEIPT. I AM NOW LOOKING FOR A NEW CAR, SINCE I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS ONE AND EXPRESSED THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE. I'VE OWNED HONDAS FOR 25+ YEARS AND NEVER HAD A SEATBELT FRAY. WHEN THE CAR ACCELERATES FROM A STOP, THERE IS SEVERE VALVE PINGING SOUND. KIA MOTORS AMERICA IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE, BUT ARE NOT TAKING ANY STEPS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE "AS IT DOES NOT DO ANYTHING TO THE CAR". THE NOISE IS VERY SEVERE ON THE 2015 FORTE AND IT IS A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN OF THE CAR. THE WIND NOISE AND THE VALVE PING MAKE THE CAR VERY LOUD. THE DEALER SAYS THAT SINCE KIA MOTORS AMERICA IS NOT ADDRESSING THE ISSUE, NOTHING CAN BE DONE. KIA MOTORS AMERICA HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS ISSUE FOR YEARS BUT HAVE FAILED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT AS THEY ARE DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. RECOMMENDATIONS INCLUDE UPGRADING TO BETTER GAS, BUT THE NOISE STILL PERSISTS. KIA RECOMMENDS AND ADVERTISES REGULAR UNLEADED FOR THE FORTE, BUT A MORE EXPENSIVE PLUS OR PREMIUM GRADE IS NEEDED TO DECREASE THE SOUND OF THE PING. THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL ADDED EXPENSE TO THE CAR THAT KIA FAILS TO ADDRESS.
ON 1/15/2016, I HIT A MASSIVE 10-POINT BUCK (DEER) HEAD ON. IT WAS STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY, AND I DROVE INTO IT DOING 65 MPH. THE FRONT OF MY CAR SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE; THE ENTIRE FRONT END WAS PUSHED BACK AND THE HOOD WAS BENT BACK TO THE WINDSHIELD. YET, MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAVE WORKED AS A PARAMEDIC/FF FOR OVER 15 YEARS, AND I HAVE WORKED HUNDREDS OF ACCIDENT SCENES. I CAN TELL YOU RIGHT NOW... THIS AIRBAG SYSTEM FAILED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 KIA FORTE. IMMEDIATELY AFTER CLOSING THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR, A LOUD ABNORMAL EXPLOSION NOISE EMITTED FROM THE BACK SEAT. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED AND GLASS SHATTERED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108.
