Our car never had any issues, and unexpectedly on Sunday October 10th while my husband was driving it - he heard a loud explosion underneath the car. Immediately there was smoke and then in matter a minutes the car was in flames. My husband had enough time to remove our daughter and the car seat but the car was completely destroyed. We want to know what happened- our car was in incredible condition, low mileage and always kept up on all the maintenance

MY DRIVER SIDE WINDOW TURNS COMPLETELY OUTWARD WHEN I START MY CAR. IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN I LOCK THE DOOR. I HAVE TO PHYSICALLY TURN IT BACK TO THE CORRECT POSITION BEFORE I CAN DRIVE. I WENT TO THE LEXUS DEALERSHIP, AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD COST ME OVER $1200 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. I AM A DISABLED SENIOR, AND THIS IS A FINANCIAL HARDSHIP ON ME. BY KEEP TURNING THE MIRROR, I AM AFRAID IT MIGHT BREAK. I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THIS TO HAPPEN.

ON MARCH 17, 2020 WHEN BUCKLING MY DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT, THE FEMALE END THAT IS SUPPOSE TO BE BOLTED INTO PLACE WAS ONLY ATTACHED BY WIRES. I LOOKED UNDER THE SEAT AND FOUND WASHER AND NUT ON THE FLOOR. MY SON HELPED ME REATTACH THE PARTS TOGETHER. ON MONDAY, I MADE APPOINTMENT WITH THE WILDE LEXUS OF SARASOTA. THEY REINSTALLED THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE AND RETORQUED IT. I WAS TOLD BY THE COSTUMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AT WILDE LEXUS THAT IT MAY HAVE WORKED IT'S WAY LOSE OR IT WAS INSTALLED IMPROPERLY AT FACTORY. EITHER WAY, I FEEL THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THAT THIS CAR AND OTHER LEXUS RX350 WOULD NOT HAVE SEAT BELTS FAILING. *TR

THE PUSH-BUTTON (KEYLESS ENTRY) IGNITION DID NOT KILL THE MOTOR. MY CAR ENGINE RAN FROM APPROXIMATELY 6 P.M. IN AN ENCLOSED GARAGE DIRECTLY BELOW MY BEDROOM. AT 4:30 A.M. I WAS AWAKENED BY MY CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR. THE ENTIRE HOUSE WAS FILLED WITH TOXIC FUMES. FIRST RESPONDERS TO MY 911 CALL SAID THE DETECTOR DEFINITELY SAVED MY LIFE. I WAS A LITTLE DIZZY AND HAD A HEADACHE BUT WAS OK AFTER AWHILE. IT TOOK NEARLY 3 HOURS FOR THE FIRST RESPONDERS' CO2 MONITOR TO SHOW SAFE AIR THROUGHOUT MY HOUSE. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE DIED OR SUFFERED BRAIN DAMAGE UNDER THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCES, AND DOZENS OF PEOPLE HAVE TOLD ME THAT THEY EXPERIENCED SIMILAR FAILURES TO SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE. FORTUNATELY, THEIR CARS WERE NOT IN GARAGES WHEN IT HAPPENED TO THEM.

THE OTHER CAR'S AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, BUT NONE OF MINE DID. (AT THE START OF THE TRIP, THE CAR SENSORS ACCURATELY DETECTED 3 PASSENGERS.) MY CAR WAS TOTALED, ITS FRAME BENT & ENTIRE FRONT DESTROYED IN THE WRECK. INVESTIGATORS & MECHANICS STATED THEY BELIEVED THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED IN THIS CASE. I SUSTAINED INJURIES, INCLUDING CONCUSSION, WHIPLASH, LACERATIONS & BRUISES.

THE PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM WAS UNEXPECTEDLY ACTIVATED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. TRAVELLING ON THE INTERSTATE IN LIGHT TRAFFIC ON A CLEAR, SUNNY AFTERNOON, THE CAR BRAKES SUDDENLY ACTIVATED, SEAT BELTS CLINCHED WITH NO WARNING SOUND. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST YEAR (COINCIDENTALLY, IT OCCURRED AT THE SAME AREA ON THE INTERSTATE). THE CAR WAS TAKEN, BOTH TIMES, AFTER THE INCIDENT FOR INSPECTION AT THE DEALER. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE OR FIND ANY PROBLEMS. FOR ME, THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. SUDDEN UNEXPECTED SEVERE BRAKING COULD RESULT IN A MAJOR REAR-END COLLISION.

ABOUT 3 MONTHS LATER, OR 4K MILES LATER SAME PROBLEM STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. THIS TIME, THEY ARE SAYING IT IS ANOTHER ACTUATOR. AT THIS RATE, IT SEEMS LIKE I MAY HAVE TO KEEP CHANGING OR GETTING NEW ACTUATORS. THIS WOULD APPEAR TO BE SOME SORT OF DEFECT, AND IF THE DOORS ARE NOT LOCKING PROPERLY, I AM AFRAID IT COULD LEAD TO SOME WORSE SAFETY CONCERNS. THE DOOR DOESN'T UNLOCK OR OPEN ACCIDENTALLY. HOWEVER, IT DOESN'T LOCK AUTOMATICALLY, UNLESS IT IS MANUALLY LOCKED..

ON JANUARY 2ND, 2018, MY DAUGHTER WAS ON HER WAY TO WORK WHEN SHE CALLED ME AT APPROXIMATELY 5:40AM STATING HER DRIVER'S SIDE CAR DOOR CAME WIDE OPEN WHILE DRIVING ON ROUTE 59. BEFORE SHE LEFT, ALL DOORS WERE LOCKED AND EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. ON THE SAME DAY EVENING WE WENT TO LEXUS DEALERSHIP. HOWEVER, AFTER A LONG WAIT, THEY INFORMED US THAT IT WAS QUITE BUSY AND WE SHOULD MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR 2 DAYS LATER. THEY LET US LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP WITHOUT INVESTIGATING THE MATTER ALTHOUGH THEY KNEW THE SERIOUS PROBLEM. ON JANUARY 4TH, WE WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE AND THEY DID LUBRICATION ON THE HINGES. THEY MENTIONED IT MAY BE DUE TO THE COLD WEATHER. WE WERE IN BLIND TRUST AND LEFT THE DEALERSHIP THINKING THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN LOOKED AT AND SOLVED. ON JANUARY 10TH, 2018, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME WHILE SHE WAS STARTING HER DRIVE FROM WORK TO HOME IN THE PARKING LOT. AGAIN, WITH ALL DOORS LOCKED AND NO WARNINGS. SUBSEQUENTLY WE WENT TO LEXUS OF NAPERVILLE DEALERSHIP ON JANUARY 12TH. THIS TIME WE WERE VERY FIRM AND WE REFUSED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS KEPT THE CAR AND WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE LOANER VEHICLE.

I WAS TOLD THAT THE SYSTEM WAS WORKING PROPERLY AND THAT THERE WAS A "WARNING" ABOUT THE POTENTIAL FOR THIS TO HAPPEN IN THE MANUAL. I REPORTED THIS ISSUE TO LEXUS CORPORATE AS WELL. I COULD REPRODUCE THIS ISSUE AND OFFERED BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND CORPORATE TO VIEW THE VIDEO. BOTH DECLINED MY OFFER. I AM CONCERNED FOR BOTH FOR THE FUTURE DRIVERS OF THIS RX350 AND THOSE WHO ARE TRAVELING BEHIND WHO MAY HAVE THIS RX350 UNEXPECTEDLY STOP IN FRONT OF THEM. I ALSO ASKED BUT WAS NOT GIVEN AN EXPLANATION, BY EITHER THE DEALERSHIP NOR CORPORATE, AS TO WHY THIS IS NOT THE SAME ISSUE THAT WAS ADDRESSED IN THEIR RECALL NUMBER 15V728000, DATE 11/03/2015.

LEXUS RX350 HAS NO AC BUTTON ON THE DASH BOARD. IT HAS A VOICE COMMAND WHICH IS INEFFECTIVE. THE AC STAYS ON ALL THE TIME WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING AND WITH FAN ON. THERE ARE 4 MONTHS OUT OF A YEAR ONE DOES NOT NEED AC ON, JUST AIR IS ENOUGH. IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE JUST AIR (NO AC ON), ONE HAS TO USE A COMPUTER MOUSE ON BOARD GO TO THE MENU, CLICK ON CLIMATE CONTROL, THEN CLICK ON AC TO TURN OFF AC WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. THIS ON BOARD COMPUTER MANEUVERING WHILE DRIVING IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. IT IS ANALOGOUS TO TEXTING WHILE DRIVING! I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT WHILE PERFORMING TURNING OF AC TASK WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I USED THE VOICE COMMAND ON BOARD AND ASKED TO TURN OFF THE AC, THE SYSTEM TURN OFF THE ENTIRE SYSTEM. I CONTACTED LEXUS ABOUT THIS AND REQUESTED EITHER TO INSTALL AN AC BUTTON ON THE DASHBOARD OR UPGRADE THE VOICE COMMAND SOFTWARE SUCH THAT IT WILL TURN OFF JUST THE AC INSTEAD OF TURNING OFF THE ENTIRE SYSTEM. LEXUS REFUSED THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I REQUEST NHTSA TO ORDER LEXUS TO CORR3CT THE SAFETY ISSUE EITHER BY INSTALLING AN AC BUTTON ON THE DASHBOARD OR UPGRADE THE VOICE COMMAND SOFTWARE. THANKS MUCH.

Summary

WAS DRIVING AT APPROX. 70 MPH ON HIGHWAY 71 WHEN I HEARD A LOUD CRASH. THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES IN SIGHT AROUND MY VEHICLE SO I THOUGHT A TIRE HAD BLOWN OUT. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE AND GETTING BACK INSIDE, I REALIZED THE SUNROOF GLASS HAD EXPLODED. I DIDN'T REALIZE IT IMMEDIATELY AS THE COVER WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME, THANKFULLY. AS I HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 5 DAYS BEFORE, I CALLED THE DEALER, WHO RESPONDED THAT I MUST HAVE BEEN HIT BY A ROCK. AS THERE WERE NO VEHICLES AROUND FOR MILES, I AM CONFIDENT IT WAS NOT A ROCK BUT A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. FURTHER, I WAS DEFINITELY NOT PLEASED WITH HOW THE DEALERSHIP HANDLED CONSIDERING THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 300 MILES ON IT. I AM JUST NOW SUBMITTING AS I DIDN'T KNOW WHO TO CONTACT OTHER THAN THE DEALER UNTIL I SAW A SEGMENT ON GMA JUST YESTERDAY.

Summary

THERE WAS NO DISCERNIBLE EVENT THAT CAUSED THE TIRE ON THE LEXUS RX350 WITH LESS THAN 4000 MILES TO BLOW. WE TURNED OFF RT 113 INTO A LOWES SHOPPING CENTER AFTER WAITING ABOUT 2 MINUTES FOR A LIGHT. ON MAKING THE LEFT HAND TURN THE TIRE BLEW. I PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT AND CALLED LEXUS ROAD SERVICE. THEY DON'T WARRANT TIRES ON A NEW CAR SO WE TOOK IT TO SEARS/KMART, AN AUTHORIZED MICHELIN DEALER. THEY OFFERED A 50% REBATE CLAIMING-TO THE MICHELIN OPERATOR- THAT IT WAS A "POT-HOLE" DAMAGE AND NOT A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. THEY SAID WITH THE NEWER CARS WE COULD HAVE HIT A POT-HOLE AND NOT EVEN KNOWN IT! *TR
