Car has 51,000 miles , no check engine light or any other warning light .driving in on the freeway at 70 mph when I hear a pop sound and my car loses power , I pushed on the gas and it started to shake violently and I panicked as the construction on the freeway was not allowing drivers a shoulder to pull over on . I was lucky enough to be driving at 2am and with the construction going on , drivers were already slowing down . My car also started blowing a thick white smoke through the back exhaust that could have made it harder to see that late night as it was already foggy here in California . At first I didn’t realize I was smoking through the back until my car began smelling like burnt oil . I wasn’t able to get off the freeway until the next exit all while thinking that my car was going to explode from the smell of the burning oil . When I pulled over and got out of the car I made sure I didn’t see any fire and then I waited to let it cool down , opened the hood and saw oil everywhere . I had it towed to Mercedes and I got the problem and the estimated cost to repair it . The problem turned out being a cracked piston in cylinder one , when it cracked it allowed oil to mix with the gasoline and that’s what was causing all the white smoke out the rear , the burnt smell was from the oil that was leaked all over my engine getting too hot from the engine. I found out a few days ago that Mercedes’ has a technical billeting regarding a faulty wrist pin that was causing the pistons to eventually crack . In the bulletin the faulty pin problem is fixed by replacing all the pistons and adding a upgraded pin and many other parts . So there are many other drivers that are experiencing this and driving with faulty wrist pins . Prior to all this happening the car always made a tap tap tap sound from engine and Mercedes’ said it was normal for 4cylinder turbos to make this sound, sounded like a diesel . But it turned out being from the loose wrist pin . Mercedes lied to us .
The contact owned a 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated that while idle, the engine would vibrate with an abnormal sputtering sound coming from the engine. As the failure persisted, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact had initially taken the vehicle to a dealer and the spark plugs were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was returned to the dealer and a diagnostic test was performed, and it was discovered that an engine cylinder had blown. The vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure and the contact was provided an estimate for the repair. The contact then spoke to an independent mechanic who informed her that the failure was a common failure for her model vehicle. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and a case was filed. An email was sent to the manufacturer and the contact was informed that no further assistance could be offered. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,900.
The wrist pin is defective in early engines during manufacturing. It is not safe to operate the vehicle because at any time without any warning this can cause fatal damage to the engine - piston crack resulting in total loss of control even at high speeds on the highway. Numerous complaints were filed on NHTSA regarding cracked pistons most likely related to this wrist pin manufacture defect. The problem is acknowledged by M-BENZ (NHTSA ID Number: 10058545), and starting around April 20 2015 M-BENZ started to install modified wrist pins to prevent future failures, but they did not address existing faulty wrist pins. The vehicle was always serviced at the official MBENZ Dealer service and was under comprehensive inspection multiple times but the issue was never acknowledged by the service technicians during the warranty period even though the issue existed since manufacturing and instruction of how to diagnose was distributed between service technicians via Manufacturer Communication Number: LI03-10P060916 in 2015. When the M-BENZ Delear service technician finally confirmed the issue, the vehicle was already out of warranty and there is a hefty price to a customer to fix this manufacturer defect that should not have been there in the first place. There are no warning lamps, messages, or other easily detectable symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The issue can be diagnosed under very special conditions described in Manufacturer Communication Number: LI03-10P060916 For most drivers, it's hard to diagnose that something is wrong and easily mistaken for normal operation noise of the engine
Recall 2021070010----NHTSA #21V197--Panoramic roof not boned correctly to the vehicle during prior replacement -
The car have anew recall Recall #2021070010. The dealership Garage Isla Verde won’t provide me any type of services to my car. Neither repair this safety recall. They cancelled my appointments because I’m not welcome to the dealership.
Power steering malfunctioned while driving. Received error on dash. The steering wheel was very difficult to turn. Issue was resolved after turning the car off for 5mins and restarting. However it is unclear whether the issue would fester again. This is the first time this issue occurred between 2017-2022.
Without any warring or indication my engine would start making bad noise then light comes on to check engine as the motor fails and car shuts off. This is while driving and has happened two times now. Both times I find it’s due to spark plug failure and pieces of the plug go throughout the engine and severely damage. First time this happened at 82,000 miles and was covered by warranty. Now this has happened again on the new engine with 81000 miles on it. I seen many forums on this issue. This time it’s not under warranty and it’s $18000 to fix. Mercedes Benz w205 engine seems to be notorious for spark plug failure in cylinder 1 as well as piston cracking. The first time this happened was October 12th 2019 and the warranty work was done at fletcher Jones Mercedes Benz of Newport Beach

Constant fuel smell coming from the engine, you can see gas coming out of the high pressure line. When I park in the garage the whole house smells like gas. Even while driving gas smell coming through the vents constantly

The contact stated that while his daughter was driving, the vehicle was shaking and smoking. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the #1 piston was cracked, engine cooler, P0301 cylinder #1, P219 solenoid failure. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic and the engine was replaced. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 105,102.
on 7/17/21 the piece of the top of the car right from the from window leading to sunroof came undone and flew off while on highway. vehicle was repaired a month later at body shop. this was out of pocket due to not wanting to claim on my insurance due to deductible. This piece flew off at a high velocity with no warning and couldve caused a accident. There was no indication of any issues no lights no warnings signs. There was a loud noise like a brick or large object falling on top which then I heard a lot of air. Recently again in october 5 I was driving on the highway and debree hit my sun roof, my window was shaking and I went to the bodyshop. in the brief drive there some 10 miles the same plastic part repaired was lifted and coming off. on this occasion I used my Insurance
Panoramic sunroof off centered causing glass to tilt on one side above vehicle. Note, a recall for the same on models 2015 c300 for vehicles with prior service but same issues/ problems for my vehicle that has not been serviced.
Check engine light came on. Code P052E. Had this code in 2018 and the pcv valve and line were changed. Currently has the same issue 3 years later. This is a very common problem with mercedes that have this engine.

The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer and had the recall serviced. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, another vehicle made a left turn and hit his vehicle in the middle of an intersection. The contact stated that the air bags did not deploy upon impact. The authorities were called to the scene and a police report was filed. No medical attention was rendered at the scene of the accident. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it remained in their possession. The contact sought medical attention later that day at a local hospital where he was treated for a strain to his left neck and left leg. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
Hi so i woke up this morning and my started my car as usual then noticed the smell of gas all around the car Inside and out. I got worried turned off the car and started sniffing around to see if i can find where the leak was and found out the high pressure fuel pump was leaking i looked up info on this part and it is very common on these car for that part to fail. Im very upset that there is no recall yet when the dealership told me that they do 2-3 of those jobs a week (HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP REPAIRS) and still no recalls on this,what is it going to take to get one?, my car has to blow up to get your guys attention?? Oh wait other Mercedes c300 cars in the united states already caught on fire please fix this saftey hazard i want to feel safe and not worry about catching on fire. ITS BEEN 6 years AND STILL HAVE NO RECALLS FOR THIS CAR ???
The engine stalled at idle numerous times when at a stop light or stop sign. This was dangerous as the other cars could have ran into my car in anticipation that I should be moving with traffic. The car was taken to the Mercedes Marin dealer service center and diagnostic was done indicating a cracked piston in cylinder one was causing loss of compression and could also cause engine failure at speed if not taken care of. Check engine light DID NOT come on. During research on repairs for this issue, it became apparent that Mercedes Benz is aware of this issue in many of its engines of this model and year, but did nothing to remedy the situation or the underlying manufacturing defect that causes the cracked piston. In addition, Mercedes is unwilling to cover the cost of repair or replacement (car has only. 49,000 miles, but is out of warranty due to age).
The contact owns a 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the contact heard an abnormal flapping sound coming from the opened panoramic moon roof. The contact reached up into the open moon roof and discovered that the adhesive bonding on the front panel had started to deteriorate. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer and was confirmed the failure however, the contact was informed that the dealer was not equipped to perform the repair. The contact was referred to Mercedes-Benz of Wilkes-Barre (150 Motorworld Dr, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702) where the mechanic removed the bonded panel and installed a new front panel which the contact paid for out of pocket. The first dealer then notified the contact of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V197000 (Structure) and instructed him to call the dealer where the vehicle was repaired. The second dealer was notified of the failure and informed him to call the manufacturer for potential reimbursement. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed him that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

Panoramic Sunroof has had several problems previously. While driving 65 mph the plastic roof piece between the windshield and sunroof suddenly and unexpectedly dislodged and flew off the car.
I would like to bring to your attention a potentially dangerous design flaw in my 2015 Mercedes C300. That design flaw resulted in me having to cut the seat belt off a passenger, my wife, in order to free her from the car. I will also explain in detail the admittedly rare circumstances that led to this potentially dangerous incident. In May 2021, my wife underwent outpatient surgery of her left shoulder. After the surgery a nurse brought my wife to the curb in front of the hospital, where I had pulled up my car. The nurse and I assisted my wife with her transfer from the wheel chair into the passenger seat. My wife was wearing a sling supported by a spacing pillow on her left arm. The nurse then proceeded to fasten the seat belt around my wife. Since the nurse’s procedure is of importance to this incident, I will explain it in detail. After my wife was seated, the nurse unwound the passenger seat belt entirely and inserted the belt tongue into the buckle so that the lap part of the seat belt went properly around my wife’s lap. To protect the fresh surgical site from external forces, the nurse then placed the part of the seat belt that is normally worn across the chest BEHIND my wife’s back. Had the seat belt been placed properly across my wife’s chest, it would have been forced to pass over her left arm, which was tied to her body by the sling and bandages. It was thus not possible to wear the chest part of the seat belt properly over the chest but under the left arm. Lastly, the nurse allowed the fully extended seat belt to wind up onto the pretensioner. Upon arrival at home I wanted to take the seat belt off my wife. To this end I opened the passenger door, and gently pulled on the seat belt in order to slacken it enough to get the seat belt off her. However, I could not get any slack. Per instructions in the user manual, I opened the belt buckle but the belt was tightly wound around my wife's body. Ultimately, I had to cut the belt with scissors.
The panoramic sunroof of the C300 is held in plastic hooks that break, even with normal use. So, that leaves the panoramic roof to fly off the vehicle on the highway. I have not opened my roof in three years because I am afraid it might not hold up. Looking at the MB owners' forum, it seems to be a pretty common issue that these plastic hooks break, and then the panoramic roof either doesn't close all the way, stay up to let the air come underneath it to introduce the risk of it flying away, or become really flappy when driving with open roof.
On July the 8th I was driver on interstate highway 65south in Birmingham Alabama in my 2015 Mercedes c 300 when there was a loud thump which startled me and almost caused an accident what happened is the roof panel between the windshield and sunroof flew off it caused damage to my vehicle and almost an accident now when I contacted Mercedes they say that it is a recall out for this problem but they do not have a time as to when this can be fixed this will be a problem because now I am not able to drive my vehicle because there is a gape between the windshield and the roof where water and anything else will get into the vehicle this is terrible now I am without a car for who knows how long.
In March of 2020 I was driving home from work. I stopped at a red light. When it turned green, I proceeded to step on the gas. My car started making noises and shaking as I drove. My check engine light came on. I was able to pull over without incident. My vehicle has under 48k miles on it! I had it towed to a Firestone facility by my house. They replaced spark plugs and ignition coil 1 and 2. They said it was still severely misfiring. Cylinder 1 must have internal damage and should be towed to the dealer. They gave me a spark plug they removed that had significant damage to the top part. They said something must have impacted it with significant force. I then had the vehicle towed to a Mercedes Benz Dealership. They said they inspected with a scope and found piston material missing, can see ring exposed and have damage to cylinder wall. Will need to replace engine, turbo charger, cat converter intake manifold to repair. They wanted $18k to repair. I did some research and found out that the 2015 Mercedes C class was the first year they switched from 6 cylinder to 4 cylinder turbo charge engine. These models have had a significant amount of engine problems and failures, the manufacturer is aware of. Many of these occurred in cylinder 1 along with wrist pins issues and others. I found my situation wasn't unique. I then filed a complaint with The BBB in Georgia. MBUSA offered me $3k towards the repair or purchase of a new vehicle. I declined the offer. I only wanted my vehicle repaired. I wasn't alone in this situation. These issues are easily found online. My vehicle has since been sitting in my driveway for almost a year and a half. I've been making my monthly car and insurance payments on a vehicle I can't drive. I recently went to the Mercedes dealership and they will give me $5k for the vehicle towards a trade, leaving me with $15k negative equity towards the purchase of a vehicle. Mercedes should stand behind their products and do the right thing
Driving down the interstate and half of the stationary roof panel dislodged. Luckily no accidents occurred due to the malfunction. The other half is still loosely attached and I am worried it could cause an accident if it detaches . I have emailed and called headquarters as well as my local dealership and no one has the ability to fix the problem and cannot confirm if I choose to pay out of pocket, that I will be reimbursed. There is a recall and it’s #21V197. At this point I want some sort of solution so I can ensure the safety of myself and those driving around me.
I was in middle line on I-5 SB San Diego doing 40-60MPH when my car suddenly started to shudder, shake and smoke came from the exhaust. The car lost power and the check-engine light came on right away. I was told that Cylinder 3 lost pressure, that the engine wall was damaged and that possibly the piston and wrist pin are cracked. My car has only 66K miles and the Mercedes Benz dealership is telling me that I need a new engine that will cost $19,000. After doing some research I have found out that I wasn't the only one with this issue. I have listed an example here: "HERE IS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THE 2015 M274 MERCEDES ENGINE REGARDING THE WRIST PINS. MERCEDES HAS ISSUED NUMEROUS INTERNAL SERVICE BULLETINS ABOUT THE ISSUE. THE ENGINES WERE MANUFACTURED WITH WRIST PINS WITH TOO MUCH TOLERANCE THAT SLAP AGAINST THE PISTON WHEN OPERATING THAT COULD LEAD TO PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURES. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON ONLINE FORUMS OF PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURES (PRE 100K MILES)." MBUSA requested from me proof that the car was serviced on time and with the correct parts. Once I was able to prove everything they told me that they were sorry but I still need to pay for everything. They did offer a "10% good-will discount". I wish they told me when I was buying a car that after every 6th oil change I will need a new engine. PLEASE MAKE MERCEDES MAKE THIS RIGHT AND FIX THE AFFECTED CARS THE RIGHT WAY.

The contact called the local dealer and was informed that the part was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000. VIN tool confirms part not available.
Sunroof clips are snapping on many w205 2015 mercedes c300 models causing the panoramic roof to come loose potentially flying off the car while driving this has the potential to hurt many people. Mercedes claims there is only a recall for models up to 2011 however hundreds of thousands of later model vehicles have the same issue. I read an article saying they recently opened a recall for the later models but my vin isn’t covered. If the 100 pound panoramic roof flies off while driving on the highway at 70 mph it can definitely kill someone. Please address my concern I cannot afford to come out of pocket for Mercedes defect and lack of help.
My daughter was driving at freeway speeds, when she heard, what we now know, is a portion of the sunroof panel flapping and break off. There was no warning, no instrument indication, and assume the broken part was a safety hazard to vehicles following. We took her vehicle to Fletcher Jones Mercedes in Newport Beach, but they're hesitating about repairing or reimbursing costs, due to the pending nature of the NHTSA Recall #21V197.
Heavy fuel/gasoline smell around engine bay began approximately 2 years ago while the car was still under original 5 year warranty. Fuel smell would persist outside of the vehicle despite the vehicle not being driven for multiple days. When driven, fuel smell would permeate into the cabin of the vehicle and cause mild headaches to the occupants. Taken to dealer to find cause of smell and was advised that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. Fuel smell continues to persist since it was originally noticed without change and vehicle is no longer within warranty period. Recently, this vehicle was taken back to the same dealer for servicing for an unrelated issue. Told the service representative that there was a fuel smell that continues to linger around the vehicle when parked and inside the cabin. This inspection revealed leaks from two fuel lines and technician recommended replacement. Warning lamps, messages, or other indicators from the car never appeared.
Passenger side airbag light keeps coming on when someone is sitting in the car. My electrical system shuts off and on and goes haywire
check engine light and check oil light came on in rush hour traffic in atlant during rush hour. Car started sputtering and finally made it to the shoulder of the interstate and oil was low on the dip stick. I added oil and a day later same thing. Took it to the dealer and cracked piston in #1 cylinder service guy said about 3 to 6 a day on this year benz.

THE CAR HAS INTERMITTENT STARTING ISSUES MORE NOTICEABLY DURING ECO START / STOP PROCESS. WHEN CAR DOES AN ECO STOP AT RED LIGHT OR STOP BUT IT IS UNABLE TO RESTART CONSISTENTLY (10-20% FAIL RATE). ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS COME ON AND CAR IS STALLED. CAR CAN ROLL IF ON A HILL. CAR CAN BE RESTARTED BY TURNING CAR ON AND OFF MANUALLY. ONLY ERROR CODE IS P1CE200 BUT THE MANUFACTURER SUGGESTED STEPS DO NO SOLVE PROBLEM. BATTERY, AUXILLARY BATTERY, STARTER, VOLTAGE DIP LIMITER, BATTERY SENSOR, STARTER RELAY WERE REPLACED. DELEAR UNABLE TO FIND PROBLEM AND SAYS ALL SOFTWARE IS UP TO DATE.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2015 MERCEDES BENZ C300 4MATIC WITH PANORAMIC ROOF ONE DAY ON RTE 9 IN HYDE PARK NY, A 2 LANE STATE ROAD I WAS TRAVELING AT 40 MPH, I SUDDENLY HEARD MORE AIR THAN USUAL AND THEN SECONDS LATER A LOUD FLAPPING NOISE ON ROOF. I PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY ONLY TO FIND THE STATIONARY ROOF PANEL ALL THE WAY FORWARD ON THE ROOF, (DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF GLASS PORTION OF THE PANO ROOF) BECAME LOOSE ON ONE SIDE AND FLAPPED OPEN WITH WIND WHEN IN MOTION. I USED 3 QUARTERS BETWEEN WINDSHIELD AND SAID PANEL TO HOLD IT FROM POPPING UP WHILE DRIVING AND DROVE IMMEDIATELY TO A BODY SHOP. TBEY INSPECTED IT AND DETERMINED IT WAS HELD DOWN WITH BLACK EPOXY SIMILAR TO WHAT IS USED TO INSTALL GLASS SUCH AS WINDSHIELDS. THEY ADDED SOME EPOXY AND TAPED DOWN THE PIECE FOR ME. APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK LATER I WAS TRAVELING ON THE SAME ROAD AT ABOUT 30MPH AND SUDDENLY ALL WITHIN LIKE 2 SECONDS HEARD LOUD WIND, THEN FLAPPING, THEN SAW THE ROOF PIECE FLY OFF SWING IN FRONT OFF WINDSHIELD IT WAS STILL ATTACHED TO A RUBBER GASKET, THEN UP IN THE AIR AND BACK DOWN AND SMACKED THE SIDE OF DRIVERS DOOR BEFORE BREAKING FREE AND FLYING DOWN THE ROAD BEHIND ME. LUCKILY IT DID NOT STRIKE ANY CARS OR PEOPLE AS IT BRIEFLY HELD ON TO THE GASKET ATTACHED. I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED AND WAS ABLE TO RETRIEVE IT, BROKEN INTO 2 PIECES. SOME ONLINE RESEARCH FOUND THIS HAS BEEN A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH MANY, MANY PEOPLE WHO POSTED ALL OVWR THE INTERNET ON FACEBOOK AND SEVERAL OTHER SITES. I THEN FOUND THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, AND PART WAS RECALLED BY MERCEDES FOR 10S OF THOUSANDS IF CARS, BUT THE RECALL DID NOT INCLUDE MY YEAR (BUT DID INCLUDE MY MODEL FOR OTHER YEARS). THIS IS VERY OBVIOUSLY THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE COVERED FOR ALL YEARS BY MERCEDES. I CALLED AND AFTER A LENGTHY PHONE CALL WITH MERCEDES BENZ I GOT NOWHERE. THE AGENT FOR MB REFUSED TO EVEN ADMIT IT WAS A RECALL, AND WAS RUDE.

WITH AN AMBER ESP LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THERE WAS NO ENGINE LIGHT ON. WHEN THIS MESSAGE APPEARED THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE (LIMP MODE). IN AVOIDANCE TO BEING IN A REAR END COLLISION I QUICKLY PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF THE CAR AND TURNED BACK ON. INOPERATIVE MESSAGE, LIMP MODE AND ESP LIGHT WAS CLEARED. I CALLED DEALER TO NOTIFY. BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN FLAW, THIS CLAMP WILL LOOSE SINCE IT'S A SNAP JOINT ASSEMBLIES NOT TIGHTEN BY SCREWS. UNDER THIS SITUATION, THE FUEL HOSE WILL LOOSE AND AFFECTED BY THERMAL EXPANSION, THIS PROBLEM WILL CAUSE FUEL LEAK/SEEPING. GAS LEAK IN FUEL LINE, WHILE RECEIVING AN OIL CHANGE FROM A LICENSED MECHANIC, HE BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT, THERE WAS FUEL LEAKING FROM THE FUEL LINE AND SHOWED (FUEL LINE SOAKED WITH GASOLINE DIRECTLY UNDER THE ENGINE), I ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN USING THE AC THE STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE COMES THROUGH THE VENTS.

THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE OF ANY TYPE OF FOREIGN OBJECT CAUSING THE SUNROOM TO SHATTER. FORTUNATELY, WHEN THE LOUD BANG OCCURRED, I HAD THE PRESENCE OF MIND TO NOT LOSE CONTROL OF MY CAR IN WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. ALSO, IF THE SUNROOF HAD BEEN PARTIALLY OPENED THE GLASS CHARDS COULD HAVE CAUSED SIGNIFICANT INJURY. THIS IS COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY UNACCEPTABLE. MERCEDES BENZ IS A LUXURY CAR MANUFACTURER, KNOWN FOR SUPERIOR ENGINEERING. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER FINALLY GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND TURNED IN TO MY NEIGHBOR HOOD. AT THE LAST RIGHT TURN, THE CAR SEIZED UP. TRIED TO RESTART NOTHING HAPPENED. GOOD THING IT WAS AROUND 11PM THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC OR AS MANY CARS ON THE ROAD. IF IT WERE IT COULD PROBABLY JUST STOP ON THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR IS AT THE DEALERSHIP AND SAYING IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE, COSTING ABOUT 13K. WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS, THERE WAS NO SIGNS OF ENGINE PROBLEM, ENGINE LIGHT WASN'T ON. OUT OF NO WHERE, ENGINE LOCKED UP AND I HAD TO PUSH IT HOME.
BACK DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT HARD TO ENGAGE AND WILL COME UNENGAGED WITHOUT PROMPTING. BRAKE PADS WEAR OUT EVERY 30,000 MILES BACK PASSENGER SIDE TIRE AND VALVE HAS BEEN REPLACED 4 TIMES IN LESS THAN 70,000 MILES AND STILL LOOSES AIR INTERMITTENTLY. CAR CAN BE PARKED OR MOVING. NO CONSISTENCY IN WHEN OR AMOUNT AIR PRESSURE IS LOST.
STRONG FUEL SMELL IN THE GARAGE AND INSIDE THE VEHICLE DURING COLD START AFTER THE VEHICLE IS PARKED FOR 8-12 HOURS. THE ISSUE IS EVEN MORE NOTICEABLE DURING COLDER WEATHER (BELOW 40). THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR C300 AND IS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE CLAMP ON A FUEL LINE. THE VEHICLE IS AT 44,000 MILES AND 6 MOUNTS OUT OF WARRANTY. BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN FLAW, THIS CLAMP WILL LOOSE SINCE IT'S A SNAP JOINT ASSEMBLIES NOT TIGHTEN BY SCREWS. WE CAN SMELL FUEL NEAR THE PUMP BEFORE WE START CAR IN COLD IN THE MORNING AND THIS SMELL CAN BE SMELLED UNTIL THE ENGINE WORKING INTO THE NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. FUEL IS A VERY CRITICAL SAFETY PROBLEM AND USUALLY WE CANNOT TAKE NOTICE OF THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT NONE OF HER SAFETY SENSORS (SIDE OR FRONT RESPONDED) INDICATING THAT SHE WAS NEAR A VEHICLE ILLUMINATED. THE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT. THE KNEE AIR BAG DEPLOYED AFTER THE IMPACT OF THE CRASH. AS THE KNEE AIR BAG WAS DEPLOYING WITH FORCE CAUSED THE CONTACTS RIGHT FOOT TO GET STUCK AND BONES TO CRACK RESULTING IN VARIOUS BREAKS IN HER RIGHT FOOT. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUT DOWN AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO START OR ADJUST HER SEAT IN ORDER TO RELEASE HER FOOT FROM THE KNEE AIR BAG AS PRESSURE WAS BUILDING UP IN THE BAG . THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE WHERE SHE WAS TREATED FOR HER FRACTURED RIGHT FOOT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT REPLACED. IT WILL FLY OFF AND HIT THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME. IF THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME WERE A MOTORCYCLE, THE RESULTS WOULD BE DISASTROUS.

I CONTACTED MY MERCEDES DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY INFORMED ME THERE IS NO RECALL AND DON'T CONSIDER THIS ISSUE A SAFETY ISSUE. THEY WON'T REPLACE THE ELECTRICAL CABLE UNLESS I PAID FOR THE "SERVICE". THE CABLE HAS NOT BEEN DAMAGED OR DISCONNECTED. ON JANUARY 18, 2019, TWO HOURS INTO DRIVING FROM NEW YORK TO CANADA FOR A FAMILY VACATION, WITHOUT ANY WARNING AND FOR NO APPARENT REASON THE PANORAMIC ROOF TO OUR 2015 MERCEDES BENZ C300 4MATIC SUDDENLY AND VIOLENTLY EXPLODED. AT THE TIME OF THE OCCURRENCE THE HIGHWAY ROAD (I84E)WAS STRAIGHT, SMOOTH AND WE WERE AT CRUISING SPEED (60MPH), NO CARS ANYWHERE NEAR US IN FRONT OR FROM THE REAR. THE EXPLOSION SOUNDED AS IF A BOMB HAD GONE OFF OR IF WE HAD BEEN SHOT. TINY GLASS PARTICLES SPRAYED MY ENTIRE FAMILY INCLUDING MY WIFE, 2 DAUGHTER (12,15) AND OUR PUPPY. LUCKILY THE SUNSHADE COVERING UNDERNEATH THE GLASS ROOF CAUGHT THE LARGER PIECES OF BROKEN GLASS. AFTER MAKING SURE THE FAMILY WAS NOT INJURED I MANAGED TO FIND A LARGE PIECE OF CARDBOARD THAT I DUCT TAPE TO THE ROOF AND SLOWLY MADE OUR WAY BACK HOME, ENDING OUR TRIP. UPON ARRIVING HOME I DID LOTS OF RESEARCH AND TO MY SURPRISE FOUND THAT EXPLODING PANORAMIC ROOFS WAS MORE COMMON THAN I HAD EVER THOUGHT WITH MANY OWNERS GONE THROUGH THE EXACT SITUATION AS I. UPON ARRIVAL, AND RETELLING MY STORY TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR HELDER CRESPO, HE TOLD ME THAT THEIR RECEIVED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE MAKE AND THAT OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE AFFECTED BY THIS SIMILAR PROBLEM. DONT KNOW WHICH CATEGORY IT FALLS. I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN AUGUST 2015. IN ONE WEEK IT WOULD NOT START EVEN. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID, THE GROUNDING SCREW WAS LOOSE. I AM SO SURPRISED THAT A CAR COMES OUT FROM FACTORY WITH A LOOSE GROUNDING ISSUE. IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS, THE CAR JUST STALLED AT THE SIGNAL. ALL LIGHTS CAME UP. I HAD THE ECO START/STOP MODE ON. THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES AND FINALLY I SHUT THE ECO START/STOP MODE DOWN. IT IS SO DANGEROUS THAT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, WHEN PEOPLE ARE READY TO DRIVE ON CHANGE OF SIGNAL, THE CAR WONT MOVE, PEOPLE ARE HONKING AND FRUSTRATED AND I AM TOO. LOOKED ONLINE AND SO MANY PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING THE SAME. THE WHOLE OF DASHBOARD LIGHTS UP LIKE WHEN A CAR STALLS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. ANYBODY WAITING BEHIND YOU CAN TAKE THE PEDAL FROM THE BRAKE AND SMASH INTO YOU. SIMILARLY, FOR LAST 2 MONTHS, I HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE IS A JUMPING NATURE WHEN YOU TAKE LEG OF THE BRAKE AT THE SIGNAL. THAT SCARES ME AS WELL. COLLISION ASSIST INOPERATIVE DASH LIGHT CAME ON WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING FOLLOWED BY A LOSS OF POWER AND ACCELERATION. VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED TO BE DRIVABLE.
I WAS DRIVING AT APPROX. 20-25 MPH DURING DAY LIGHT AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WAS LIGHT BLINKED ON MY DASHBOARD FOR APPLYING THE BRAKES BECAUSE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE AHEAD OF ME. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AS WELL AS BRAKE ASSIST PLUS SYSTEM GOT ACTIVATED AS WELL. BUT STILL MY VEHICLE END UP HITTING THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF ME. THE BRAKE ASSIST PLUS SYSTEM WHICH IS CLAIMED BY MERCEDEZ TO TAKE BRAKE AUTOMATICALLY TO BRING THE SYSTEM TO HALT IN CASE OF EMERGENCY DID NOT WORK AND IT END UP HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED A YEAR LATER AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED WITH THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE'S COLLISION PREVENTION ASSISTANT PLUS OPTION OFTEN DISPLAYS DURING DRIVING. THIS CAUSES THE CAR TO LOSE ACCELERATION AND PREVENTS YOU FROM ACCELERATING REGARDLESS OF HOW HARD YOU PRESS THE GAS PEDAL. THIS HAPPENS FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND OCCURS WHILE IN THE MIDST OF DRIVING, USUALLY WITHIN A BUSY INTERSECTION AND HAS ALSO HAPPENED TO ME SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I AM VERY AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THIS WHEN IT OCCURS IS TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, SHUT THE CAR DOWN, AND RESTART THE ENGINE AFTER A FEW MINUTES. MY CAR WAS SERVICED ON 1/13/18 AND WHEN TESTED, NO EVIDENCE OF THIS WAS FOUND. SINCE THEN, THIS MALFUNCTION HAPPENED ON 1/14 AND AGAIN TODAY 1/15. THIS MALFUNCTION HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE CATASTROPHIC. I'VE ADVISED THE DEALER THIS NEEDS TO BE SERVICED AND FIXED, OTHERWISE WE WILL BE ASKING FOR A NEW VEHICLE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE LEASE. I WAS DRIVING 580-E AND MERGING ONTO I-5 S WHEN I HIT A HUMONGOUS POT HOLE WITH MY LEFT FONT TIRE CAUSING IT TO IMMEDIATELY BLOW OUT. THAT IN-TURN CAUSED MY STABILITY TRACKING TO ENGAGE, WHICH CAUSED ME TO SLOW DOWN DRASTICALLY. THAT CAUSED ANOTHER VEHICLE TO NEAR MISS RAMMING ME IN THE BACK AND ME SIDE SWIPING ANOTHER VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HAD TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER TO A VERY NARROW SHOULDER OF THE ROAD WITH MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS BLINKING. TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE, MY SELF AND OTHER PASSENGERS IN THE CAR, I HAD TO DRIVE APPROXIMATELY 0.5 MILES TO THE NEXT EXIT (67) TO SAFELY GET MY VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD TO A SAFE LOCATION. I THEN CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO TOW MY VEHICLE BACK TO SANTA ROSA WHERE I LIVE TO GET THE TIRE REPLACED AND FRONT BUMP REPAIRED. I AM UNSURE OF THE CAUSE OF THE UNSAFE CONDITION OF THE HIGHWAY OR WHAT CAUSED THE POT HOLE. THERE WERE SEVERAL CARS STRANDED WITH DAMAGES TO THEIR VEHICLES AS WELL. ONE PERSON CAME TO THE SAME EXIT (FOOD MART ON PATTERSON ROAD) WITH A BLOWN OUT TIRE AS WELL. I HAVE HER CONTACT INFORMATION IF YOU NEED TO CONTACT HER.

I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM I DID NOT WANT THE CAR BACK UNLESS THEY COULD DETERMINE WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND COULD PROMISE THAT IT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DEALER AND AFTER A WEEK OF REPAIRS, THE SAME FAULT HAS OCCURRED TWICE IN THE FIRST 24 HOURS AFTER RETURN OF VEHICLE. FAULT OCCURRED AT 60 MPH DURING A PASSING MANEUVER ON A 2 LANE ROAD. AGAIN, WE WERE PUT IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS IS AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. THE FIRST SERVICE DIAGNOSED THE CAR WITH A CODING ISSUE. THE SECOND, INVOLVED REPLACING MODULES. THIS ALL OCCURRED DURING THE TWO MONTHS OF OWNING THE CAR. WE NOTICES SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE EARLY BUILD 2015 C300S, AND DECIDED TO CUT OUR LOSSES AND PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE. WE DID NOT FEEL SAFE IN THAT CAR.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE PASSING LANE, A WARNING MESSAGE INDICATED THE ACCIDENT AVOIDANCE SYSTEM WAS MALFUNCTIONING. THIS DEACTIVATED THE ACCELERATOR, I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE CAR, SQUEEZED BETWEEN CARS AND COASTED TO A STOP. TURNED OFF CAR AND CALLED MERCEDES. CAR WAS RESTARTED WITH NO ISSUES INDICATED, DROVE THE CAR HOME. NEXT DAY ON THE HIGHWAY DID IT AGAIN, WENT DIRECTLY TO DEALERSHIP. THEY HAD THE CAR 4 DAYS, SAID IT WAS A COMPUTER CODE ISSUE AND WAS FIXED. LESS THAN A MONTH LATER IT DID IT AGAIN DRIVING 25MPH IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD. CALLED MERCEDES, THEY ARE PICKING THE CAR UP. I NO LONGER TRUST THE CAR, WILL NOT LET FAMILY DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT BECOMES DISABLED....
THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF IN MY CAR EXPLODED AT APPROXIMATELY 6.45AM ON MONDAY, JUNE 29TH 2015. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM MERCEDES BENZ IN PARAMUS ON SATURDAY, JUNE 27TH, 2015. THE CAR HAD 146 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I WAS IN NJ AND I WAS TRAVELING WEST ON I-78 (EXPRESS LANES) AT APPROXIMATELY 65MPH. THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES IN CLOSE PROXIMITY, THERE WAS A VEHICLE TRAILING A FEW CAR LENGTHS BEHIND ME. THE ROAD WAS RELATIVELY SMOOTH AND THE WEATHER WAS DRY. NO PROJECTILE HIT THE GLASS PRIOR TO IT EXPLODING. WHEN THE SUNROOF EXPLODED, ALL I HEARD WAS A LARGE BANG AND THEN GLASS FALLING INTO THE CAR AND ALSO 'EXITING' THE CAR. THE GLASS DEBRIS LEFT SIGNIFICANT PITTING ON THE TRUNK OF THE CAR. I ESTIMATE 25% OF THE GLASS CAME INTO THE CAR. I SWERVED INTO TO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND STOPPED IN THE EMERGENCY LANE.
I HAD TWO ISSUES WITHIN 2 MONTHS OF BUYING THE CAR EARLIER IN THIS. I PURCHASED THE CAR IN EARLY FEB 2015. I HEARD A LOUD SOUND IN THE HEATING UNIT, THEN A SMALL CLICKING SOUND ENSUED FOR OVER A WEEK. BROUGHT IT IN, THE MOTOR HAD BLOWN, SO THEY REPLACED IT WITHOUT A DIME OUT OF MY POCKET. THEN IN MARCH, I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35 MILES PER HOUR WHEN A VERY LOUD NOISE LIKE BAD BREAKS STARTED AND WOULDN'T STOP NO MATTER WHAT I DID. WE TOWED IT USING MERCEDES, BUT HAD TO PAY FOR AN UBER TO THE DEALERSHIP. IT WAS AGAIN ANOTHER MALFUNCTION WITH THE NEW MODEL, AND THEY FIXED THE BREAKS AND ROTORS THAT SAME DAY WITHOUT A DIME OUT OF MY POCKET. I NOW HAVE 6500 MILES ON IT SINCE I GOT IT IN FEB THIS YEAR, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TRIED TO REPLACE THE FUEL CAP BUT THAT DIDN'T MAKE IT GO AWAY AND THE CAR IS DRIVING FINE. IM BRINGING IT IN LATER THIS WEEK. I SAW REPORTS THAT THERE ARE SOME CARS WITH THIS FUEL ISSUE THATS CAUSING THIS INDICATOR. OVERALL THIS ONE PARTICULAR CAR I LEASED IS A TOTAL DUD, BUT I HOPE THESE REPORTS HELP OTHERS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES.
I SAT IN THE CAR, HAD NOT STARTED IT YET, AND A "POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION, SEE OPERATORS MANUAL" WARNING IN RED WAS ON DASHBOARD SCREEN, AND ANOTHER SMALLER RED INDICATOR LIGHT OF A STEERING WHEEL WAS ON IN THE SPEEDOMETER AREA. STARTED THE CAR AND THE WARNINGS REMAINED. SHUT IT OFF AND IMMEDIATELY RESTARTED AND THE WARNINGS REMAINED. STARTING DRIVING THE CAR AND THE POWER STEERING WAS INDEED OUT. I HAD GREAT DIFFICULTY TRYING TO STEER, ESPECIALLY UNDER 5MPH. DROVE ABOUT A MILE AND THEN PARKED AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. CAME BACK ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER, RESTARTED THE CAR AND THE WARNINGS WERE GONE AND STEERING WAS BACK TO NORMAL.
UNABLE TO MOVE DRIVER'S POWER SEAT FORWARD INTO SAFE OPERATING POSITION. HAD TO DRIVE CAR BY SITTING ON FRONT EDGE OF THE SEAT. BROUGHT TO DEALER FOR SERVICE AND SEAT OPERATION WAS RESTORED TO NORMAL AFTER A SOFTWARE RESTORE/RESET. SERVICE CONSULTANT COULD PROVIDE NO DEFINITE INFORMATION AS TO WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THE NEXT DAY IN THE MORNING, THE PROBLEM REOCCURED. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS IS A CHRONIC PROBLEM THAT CANNOT BE REPAIRED. IT IS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE AND I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS SOMETHING THAT AFFECTS OTHER VEHICLES.
I WAS DRIVING ON A RURAL BACK ROAD AT 30 MILES, THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. A WARNING APPEARED SAYING "MALFUNCTION OF POWER STEERING". I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME, ABOUT ONE MILE, BUT WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY. I CALLED MERCEDES BENZ. THEY SENT A TOW TRUCK AND TOWED AUTO TO WESTWOOD MERCEDES IN WESTWOOD, MA. I WAS INFORMED IT WAS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM AND IT HAD BEEN REPROGRAMMED.
MY VEHICLE, A 2015 MERCEDES-BENZ C300 PURCHASED ON 6/6/15 WITH APPROXIMATELY 1200 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. ON MONDAY MORNING 7/20/15, AT APPROXIMATELY 5:30 AM PDT, I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THE INTERIOR LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE DRIVERS DOOR POPPED OPEN. THERE WAS NO WARNING CHIME OR INDICATOR LIGHT PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING. IT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING, AND CAUGHT ME BY SURPRISE. LUCKILY AT THE TIME THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS NEAR ME. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND SHUT THE DOOR. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY WERE CONCERNED AND HAD ME DROP IT OFF THAT AFTERNOON. PICKED UP ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON 7/21/15 APPROXIMATELY 5:30 PM PDT. I WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE DOOR OPENING. HOWEVER, LOOKING AT FORUMS ON THE INTERNET, THIS EXACT ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED BY OTHERS IN THE US AND AUSTRALIA AT LEAST. SOME WERE THE DRIVERS DOOR OTHERS WERE THE PASSENGERS DOOR. ONE REPORTED IT HAPPENING A SECOND TIME AFTER THE DEALER INSPECTED. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS HAPPENING AGAIN, AND POSSIBLY TRIGGERING AN AIR BAG OR AUTO-PARK. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR. THE STEERING MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOST POWER. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP WHERE IT BECOME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT FOR ME TO MANEUVER THE CAR. I PUT ON MY EMERGENCY INDICATOR AND GOT THE CAR INTO A PARKING LOT AS SAFETY AS I COULD. HAD THIS OCCURRED WHILE I WAS GOING ON A ROAD WITH CURVES OR AT HIGH SPEED, I BELIEVE I COULD HAVE SUFFERED SEVERE BODILY INJURY. I CALLED MBRACE TO GET MY CAR TOWED. WHEN I TURNED MY CAR BACK ON AFTER APPROXIMATELY 5 MINS, THE ERROR WAS GONE AND IT WAS CLOSE TO 7PM AND THE SERVICE CENTER FOR THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM WAS CLOSED. I DROPPED OFF THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING. TODAY IS THE SECOND DAY AND MY DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THAT THEY OPENED A CASE WITH MERCEDES AS THEIR WAS A FAULTY CODE IN THE STEERING ELECTRICAL BOX AND THEY WERE ADVISED BY MERCEDES TO SIMPLY RESET THE BOX AND DRIVE THE CAR FOR SOME TIME. HOWEVER THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHY IT HAPPENED AND WHETHER THE RESET WILL PREVENT THE OCCURRENCE OF THE STEERING WHEEL MALFUNCTION AGAIN. I REFUSED TO TAKE A CAR BACK UNTIL ITS SAFETY IS PROVEN. THE DEALERSHIP IS KEEPING THE CAR UNTIL THEY HEAR FROM MERCEDES WHICH ACCORDING TO THEM COULD TAKE A FEW DAYS TO A WEEK+. I UNDERSTAND THESE SYSTEMS ARE NOT PROPRIETARY TO MERCEDES AND SO ARE IN MANY OTHER LUXURY MODELS. I'VE REC'D NO FEEDBACK FROM THE DAIMLER CORP OR FROM YOUR OFFICE. NOW A NEW ISSUE DEVELOPED WHERE THE KEYLESS GO WOULDN'T ALLOW ME TO EITHER ENTER THE VEHICLE OR SOUND THE "PANIC" ALARM. THE COMPANY DOESN'T KNOW HOW OR WHY THIS COULD HAPPEN OR HOW TO FIX IT. THE CAR WAS TOWED THE NEXT MORNING TO AUTOHAUS ON EDENS IN NORTHBROOK, IL. I DID A GOOGLE SEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM IN EUROPE SINCE DEC 2014. I WAS SHOCKED THAT OWNERS IN THE US WERE NOT WARNED OF THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM AND THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ISSUED.
