Several incidents when accelerating, the engine goes into a limp mode, followed by indicator lights coming on P0401, P0299, P226C. The vehicle will not accelerate and travels at a max speed of about 5mph. This has happened in traffic every time and has put me and my family, as well as other vehicles, at extreme risk of being in an accident, not being able to accelerate out of the way of oncoming traffic. After several cycles of turning the vehicle off and on, it returns to normal function. The vehicle has been inspected at a Dodge Service station. They determined that the Turbo diesel system is malfunctioning and needs repair. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

The contact owns a 2015 Ram Promaster City. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the contact noticed that the fuel gauge on the instrument cluster was fluctuating. The contact also noticed that the vehicle had lost motive power and felt like the transmission was neutral. The contact attempted to depress the accelerator pedal however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact pulled over to the side of the roadway and waited for several minutes before restarting the vehicle. The vehicle restarted and the contact attempted to drive back to the residence however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was diagnosed by the local dealer and failure codes for the transmission module were retrieved. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

The contact coasted the vehicle off the roadway. The vehicle was restarted and worked as designed. The check engine and transmission warning lights were illuminated. The local dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the transmission needed to be flushed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact stated that the failure was like NHTSA campaign number: 16V529000 (Power Train) however, the Vin was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.

I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO A RAM DEALER SERVICE CENTER BECAUSE THE 'FILL DEF' LIGHT AND MESSAGE REMAINED IN THE EVIC EVEN THOUGH THE DEF WAS FULL. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE EGR COOLER, TUBE AND GASKETS NEED REPLACED. THE REPAIR WAS QUOTED AT $2918.27 (SEE ATTACHMENT). UPON RESEARCHING MOPAR SAFETY RECALLS, I CAME ACROSS RECALL VB1, WHICH PERTAINS TO EGR COOLERS OF RAM 1500S WITH ECODIESEL ENGINES NEEDING REPLACED. I CALLED MOPAR, AND THEY SAID VB1 DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VIN, EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME ENGINE. I AM WONDERING IF VB1 IS THE SAME ISSUE I AM HAVING WITH MY PROMASTER 1500 WITH AN ECODIESEL ENGINE, AND IF ANY OTHER PROMASTER OWNERS WITH THE ECODIESEL HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS. THE COST OF THIS REPAIR IS TOO HIGH TO JUSTIFY PAYING FOR IT, AND IN ALL HONESTY, IS TOO HIGH TO JUSTIFY HAVING BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN THE FIRST PLACE, ESPECIALLY IF OTHER ECODIESEL VEHICLES ARE HAVING THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE.

THE RADIATOR FAN STOPPED AND THE CAR OVERHEATED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REVIEW AND WAS TOLD TO CHANGE THE FAN AND FUSES. CHECKING THE RECALLS I FOUND THE NHTSA 19V-818, WHICH MATCHES THE SPECIFICATIONS OF MY CAR AND THE PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE COOLING FAN. I AWAIT YOUR PROMPT RESPONSE TO BE ABLE TO SOLVE MY PROBLEM WITH THE CAR.

WHILE DRIVING THIS VAN THE ENGINE FAN STARTED MAKING A TERRIBLE NOISE. WE TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED IT AS A BAD FAN AND NOTED THAT THERE WAS A NEW RECALL FOR THIS FAILURE. WE TOOK IT TO THE DODGE DEALER AND WERE TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. WE HAD THEM FIX IT AND CONTACTED CHRYSLER WARRANTY FOR HELP. THEY DENIED THE CLAIM. WE HAVE 2 OF THESE IDENTICAL VEHICLES AND RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE OTHER VEHICLE, VIN# [XXX]. THEY TOLD US THAT THE VEHICLES WERE MAD AT DIFFERENT PLANTS SO IT WAS NOT COVERED. HOW CAN ONE BE COVERED AND THE OTHER NOT WHEN THE PARTS ARE IDENTICAL. IT MAKES NO SENSE. THIS OBVIOUSLY COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY BAD SITUATION IF NOT CAUGHT IN TIME. I PURCHASED VEHICLE USED ON 2/14/2018. CARFAX STATED NO OUTSTANDING RECALLS. AFTER ABOUT ONE YEAR, VERY OCCASIONALLY, WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE, THE GEAR WOULD NOT ENGAGE UNTIL THE PROCESS WAS REPEATED. JUST RECENTLY, WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING, BOTH "SERVICE ENGINE" AND "TRANSMISSION" WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ON THE DASH. THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY A NEAR TOTAL LOSS OF POWER AND AN OCCASIONAL STALL. THIS OBVIOUSLY CREATED A DANGEROUS SAFETY HAZARD FOR ME AND THE OTHER DRIVERS IN MY AREA. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL RAM DEALERSHIP (PEACOCK - BLUFFTON, SC) AND (AFTER 5 DAYS) WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW "TRANSAXLE RANGE SENSOR WIRING HARNESS" ($700. +/-) AND A POWERTRAIN SOFTWARE UPDATE (WARRANTY). SOME RESEARCH REVEALED A RECALL BY FIAT-CHRYSLER (8/2016) FOR THE WIRING HARNESS - S55 / NHTSA 16V-529. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, FIAT-CHRYSLER WILL ONLY HONOR THIS RECALL FOR A PERIOD OF 2 YEARS FROM DATE OF ISSUE. FURTHER RESEARCH REVEALED THAT NHTSA REQUIRES RECALLS BE HONORED FOR A "REASONABLE" AMOUNT OF TIME, SUGGESTING THAT 10 YEARS IS "REASONABLE". I HAVE BEEN TO THE DODGE DEALER AND DISCUSSED THE PROBLEM WITH THEM. WHEN THE CABLE IS FROZEN WHILE THE BRAKE IS DISENGAGED, THE BRAKE DOES NOT ENGAGE, SO THERE IS NO WAY TO PROPERLY PARK THE VEHICLE. WHEN FROZEN WHILE ENGAGED, THE BRAKE REMAINS ON OR ONLY PARTIALLY RELEASES WHICH CAUSES IT TO BE UNABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE OR THE BRAKE WILL DRAG AND OVERHEAT WHILE DRIVING. WE HAVE TWO OF THESE VEHICLES PURCHASED AT ABOUT THE SAME TIME FROM . ONE IN MINNESOTA AND THE OTHER IN TEXAS. BOTH HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM SO IT CLEARLY NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM. I HAD RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE, BUT IT ADVISED THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. IT ADVISED I WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. THE RECALL DID NOT ADVISE I SHOULD NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THEY ADVISED THEY THOUGHT THE PART WAS AVAILABLE BUT COULD NOT CONFIRM IT. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT THE VEHICLE FOR OVER TWO DAYS AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION AS TO WHEN THE VEHICLE WILL BE REPAIRED. AFTER I CALLED THE TOWING, THEY TOOK ME TO THE DEALER, IN CARSON CITY, NEVADA. AFTER TWO DAYS THE DEALER CALLED ME BACK AND TOLD ME I WAS DRIVING ON A TURNED ON EMERGENCY BRAKE. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE TO BE DRIVING 70 MPH ON FREEWAY WITH AN EMERGENCY BRAKE ON. I CERTAINLY THINK THIS IS A FACTOR PROBLEM, THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED RIGHT NOW. I ALSO READ ON MANY DIFFERENT FORUMS AND THE DODGE RAM PROMASTER 2015 HAS THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. TO BE HONEST I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. MY WIFE BOUGHT A CARGO VERSION OF THE RAM PROMASTER TO USE AS HER DAILY DRIVER AND, HOPEFULLY, WHEN SHE RETIRES, A TOURING/VACATION VEHICLE. NEITHER SHE NOR I INTENDED TO USE THE VEHICLE COMMERCIALLY YET THE TIRE PRESSURE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ON THIS IS SET TO KEEP THE REAR TIRES AT 72 PSI AND THE FRONTS AT 65 PSI, RIDICULOUSLY HIGH PRESSURES FOR A VEHICLE THAT WILL NEVER BE USED TO HAUL A LOAD. THE TIRES ON THIS VEHICLE ARE "C" RATED PASSENGER TIRES. THERE IS NO WAY FOR ME TO ADJUST THAT TO SOMETHING RELATED TO REAL-WORLD PHYSICS (MY BEST GUESS WOULD BE ROUGHLY 32 PSI ON ONE END AND, MAYBE, 35 PSI ON THE OTHER). WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO PARK ON A PIECE OF GLASS TO LOOK AT THE FOOT PRINT, I WOULD GUESS I ONLY HAVE ABOUT A 2/3 FOOTPRINT. IF SHE HAS AN EMERGENCY SITUATION, EVEN IF SHE'S ON DRY PAVEMENT, THE STOPPING DISTANCE IS PROBABLY MUCH GREATER THAN IT SHOULD BE. THE TIRE MOST LIKELY WILL ONLY WEAR DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE TREAD, ASSUMING THERE ARE NO ALIGNMENT ISSUES. THE RIDE IS SO HARD I CAN'T VOUCH FOR THE LONGEVITY OF ELECTRONICS IN THIS VEHICLE AND THERE ARE PLENTY OF THEM. SHOCK IS THEIR WORST ENEMY. IT'S BAD ENOUGH THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS THAT CAN THROW THIS VEHICLE INTO "LIMP" MODE, AND THIS IS ONE OF THEM, "LIMP" MODE, DEPENDING WHERE YOU ARE, COULD BE LIFE-THREATENING. PLEASE TELL ME HOW I CAN GET THIS SAFE HAZARD REMEDIED AND SOON. MY WIFE MAKES A MONTHLY TRIP TO PHOENIX AND IT'S ABOUT A THREE HOUR DRIVE, ONE WAY. WE GET WINTER WEATHER (ICE AND SNOW) AT BOTH OF OUR HOMES.
