Intermittently, when I go to shut off the engine, I can not remove my key from the ignition. If I put the car back into park a few times, it seems to release the key. This does not happen often, but it has occurred a few times in the past few months.
Right rear wheel bearing failure at around 71,000 miles. Loud, humm occurs around at around 35 mph and above.
Driving at night on interstate approximately 70 mph using adaptive cruise control. Suddenly engine revs higher and car slows down. Cruise control deactivates. Applying gas cause the engine to rev but car continues to slows down. Pulled to side of interstate. Infotainment system screen flashes to black then back on. Turned car off and back on again and behaved normally. Was able to continue driving with no issues. This same sequence of events also happened approximately one year ago. So this is the second occurrence. The first time I knew I had a bad O2 sensor so thought it may be related to that but the sensor has now been replaced and the same issue has reoccurred.
I have owned this vehicle since 2018 and at random times on the highway the engine will lose power and the car will drift to a halt. No warning signs beforehand and this has happened at various stages of highway drives. Pressing the accelerator will only cause the car to slow more. After each time I have had it towed to the nearest Subaru dealership and they cannot find any issues. I have read several other complaints on here describing the issue perfectly. It seems either Subaru cannot figure out whats wrong or simply doesn't care. I have been very lucky to have gotten to safety each time this has happened but I feel serious harm can be caused by this problem. My vehicle has been inspected by several different Subaru dealerships and I get the same runaround every time. The service reps cannot find anything wrong with the engine and no codes come up when they plug it in. Subaru needs to figure this out as there is clear documentation here that this is a large problem. This has forced me to sell what otherwise would be a good car and find something else.
caliper seized and caught on fire, front passenger side. Was told by mechanic second Crosstreck this week with same problem.
My vehicle had the recall for Brake Lamp Light Switch in Feb 2019. I went to the Carr Subaru dealership in Portland Oregon to get my recall fixed. They assured me that the work was done and the Brake Lamp Light Switch was replaced. Fast forward to last week when my car suddenly stopped working. The engine would not start and even while driving the brake lights were not showing. I almost had a collision because the car behind me did not see my brake lights when I was braking!! I now live in Memphis TN and we took the car to the Subaru dealership in town on Hacks Cross Road. They told us that even though my car records show that my Brake Lamp Light Switch was fixed in 2019 it was never actually changed. I was appalled to hear this, shocked that I could have been seriously hurt due to this negligence.
I bought in 2019 4 brand new car tires (Continental TureContact 225/55 R17) at Discount Tires still have receipt. Tires are maintained on a regular bases (rotation and alignment check). I noticed a vibration in my steering wheel and ask my garage to check alignment. He stated alignment is good but he saw on the 2 front tires that there is belt separation. In all my life I never had this happen before. I was told by my garage that looks like a manufacturing problem. This is dangerous and needs to be addressed and Continental needs to be held accountable for this. I went back where I bought the tires with my receipt and told them they need to check all 4 tires for this defect. For right now I cannot drive the car until Discount Tires takes a look at it. These tires have an 80,000 Miles warranty. If I wouldn't been so attentive to my car and tires I and its mechanical, I never would have known, that I am driving my car with unsafe manufactured tires. One question: How difficult is it to manufacture good and SAFE products? DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!!
The contact owned a 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek. The contact stated while driving 15 mph, they pulled up to a red light and stopped, when the light turned green the contact was making a right turn when a 26-foot truck ran thru the light and crashed into the front driver side of the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. There were no warning lights illuminated on the vehicle. The contact sustained an injured neck, bruises, and a muscle tear in the left side of their chest. There was medical treatment at the scene where the ambulance took the contact to the hospital by ambulance. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard where the contact insurance company inspected the vehicle and deemed the vehicle as a total loss. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure The failure mileage was approximate 55,000.
After parking car, it takes several attempts of putting the transmission in park to get the key out of the ignition. Going back and forth between reverse and park. This happens at least 70% of the time. Not a safety problem, but can’t secure the vehicle if I can’t get the key out. Haven’t had the dealer look at it because the car is no longer under warranty, and this seems to be a common problem with Subarus. No warning or symptoms that it’s going to happen.
At approximately 67,300 miles, while performing routine maintenance, my mechanic discovered that my front wheel bearing set needed replacing. Soon after that, I heard a noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. At first, my mechanic couldn't diagnose the problem. When the noise got louder, I returned to my mechanic, and he discovered that the wheel bearings in both of my rear wheels needed replacing. The vehicle had 81,565 miles at the time he replaced them. With some internet research, I found that many Subaru owners with the same vehicle had experienced the same problem. I also found a bulletin from Subaru describing a faulty rear wheel backing plate (Bulletin # 05-70-19). If Subaru had notified me of the defect, I could have had it promptly replaced. Instead, they risked my safety, as a wheel could have stopped while I was driving. I chose not to take it to the dealer, because it is a 1.5 hour drive from my home, on a remote highway. Diagnosis and repair would have been separate appointments, 2 weeks apart, and the dealer told me the chance of reimbursement was 50%. This vehicle is available for inspection.
I NOTICED THAT WHEN GOT TO ACCELERATE FROM STOPING THAT CAR WON'T GO. WHEN I HIT THE GAS THE VEHICLE MOVES ONLY A LITTLE AND IF I PUSH MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATION PEDDLE HARDER AND ALL THE WAY DOWN THE VEHICLE ACTUALLY SLOWS DOWN. IT HAPPENED THIS MORNING ON CITY STREET ROADS NOT GOING ANY FASTER THAN 45MPH. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO GO AGAIN IS TAKING MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDDLE AND RE PLACING IT AND IT THEN WILL GO BACK TO ACCELERATE AS IT SHOULD WHEN I PRESS THE GAS PEDDLE. I HAVE GOTTEN IT LOOKED AT SUBURU DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. IT HAPPENED TO ME TWICE THIS MORNING. ONCE WHEN TURNING OFF MY STREET TAKING A RIGHT TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO 25MPH AND THEN ANOTHER WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AFTER A STOP LIGHT ON A 45 MPH ROAD. I WILL BE REPORTING IT FROM NOW ON EVERY TIME IT HAPPENS. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE, IT COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THANK GOODNESS NO ONE WAS RIGHT BEHIND AT THOSE MOMENTS WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE.
HEAD GASKET FAILURE, RESULTING IN WATER AND OIL CONTAMINATION. TAKEN TO DEALER FOR SERVICING ON FEBRUARY 12, 2021, AND STILL NOT FIXED AS OF APRIL 21, 2021.
SINCE I BOUGHT THIS 2015 CROSSTREK IN 2015 THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES WHERE I HAVE PULLED OUT AND THE VEHICLE PAUSES. LIKE THERE IS NO POWER OR IT IS TAKING A BREATH. NO MATTER THE PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR IT DOES NOT GO. THEN LIKE A GASP IT STARTS TO PICK UP SPEED. DOES NOT SHUT OFF BUT ZERO POWER. IT HAPPENS REGARDLESS THE WEATHER, LENGTH OF TIME CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING. IT HAS CAUSED ME A NARROW MISS BEFORE BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET INTO MY LANE. I WAS PULLING INTO TRAFFIC FROM A SLOW SPEED MOST TIMES. ONCE IT HAPPENED WHILE IN TRAFFIC DRIVING.
WHILE IN MOTION AT APPROXIMATELY 65MPH ON THE HIGHWAY HOOD LATCH FAILED AND HOOD FLEW UP AND SMASHED INTO WINDSHIELD, SHATTERING GLASS ALL OVER AND PUSHING WINDSHIELD IN TOWARDS DRIVER. FRONT WINDSHIELD VIEW WAS COMPLETELY OBSTRUCTED AND DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO SAFELY PULL TO SHOULDER. VEHICLE SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO HOOD, HOOD HINGES, WINDSHIELD AND FENDERS. SUBARU HAS HISTORY OF LAWSUITS AND RECALLS REGARDING FAILED HOOD LATCH. POLICE REPORT IS AVAILABLE.
I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH TRYING TO REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION. IT WON'T LET ME TURN ALL THE WAY FROM ACC TO REMOVE THE KEY. I'VE TRIED TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, RESTART IGNITION AND TRY TURNING ALL THE WAY OFF AGAIN AND STILL STUCK. I HAD TO START AND PUT CAR IN REVERSE, THEN PULL FOWARD AND WAS ABLE TO TURN KEY COMPLETELY TO THE OFF POSITION AND WAS ABLE TO REMOVE KEY. IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. I HAVE CONTACTED SUBARU OF AMERICA AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO THEM AS WELL.
2015 CROSSTREK. WAS DRIVING ON I476 IN PA ON A 35 DEGREE SUNNY DAY ON 2/6/2021 FOR ABOUT 3-5 MILES AT STEADY SPEED OF 65 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR BUMPED (ALTHOUGH NOTHING WAS IN THE ROAD/NO POTHOLE) WITH A LOUD NOISE (NOTHING FLEW OFF CAR) AND ABRUPTLY SLOWED TO A CRAWL EVEN WITH FOOT STILL ON THE GAS. LUCKILY WE WERE IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE WITH AN OPEN SHOULDER TO SWERVE INTO OTHERWISE THE PERSON BEHIND US LIKELY WOULD HAVE SLAMMED INTO US (SEEING AS NO BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD HAVE GONE ON SINCE FOOT WAS ON THE GAS). TIRES, UNDERBELLY AND UNDER HOOD LOOKED FINE. 76K MILES. NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH THE CAR WHATSOEVER OTHER THAN REAR WHEEL BEARINGS REPLACED DUE TO AGE A FEW MONTHS PRIOR. OTHERWISE JUST MAINTENANCE PER THE MAINTENANCE AND WARRANTY MANUAL. NO ISSUES OR INDICATIONS OF ANY PROBLEM LEADING UP TO IT AND JUST HAD THE SERPENTINE BELT REPLACED JUST DUE TO AGE (PRECAUTIONARY) THE DAY PRIOR. HAD MECHANIC GENERALLY INSPECT CAR THE DAY BEFORE WHEN BELT WAS BEING CHANGED BECAUSE PLANNED TO DRIVE TO NC THE END OF THAT WEEK. CALLED AAA WHO (AFTER 2 HR WAIT) TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC. OUR MECHANIC SPOKE TO CONCORDVILLE SUBARU (MELISSA B.) AND WE HAD IT TOWED THERE. WERE TOLD BY CONCORDVILLE, 'TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REBUILT. THE GEARS JAMMED IN THE TRANSMISSION AND SOME BROKE AND THERE WAS SOME COLLATERAL DAMAGE. THE WARRANTY IS EXTENDED SO IT SHOULD BE COVERED AND I'LL WORK WITH THE SUBARU INSPECTOR TO HAVE THE COLLATERAL DAMAGE COVERED.' THE NEXT DAY WHEN THEY WERE TOLD BY US THAT WE HAD THE DIFFERENTIAL FLUID CHANGED (PER SUBARU MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE) THEY SAID IT'S PROBABLY A DIFFERENTIAL ISSUE SO WON'T BE COVERED AND IF WE WANT TO SEE IF THERE IS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE IT IS $1000 ALL IN FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND $8K FOR A TRANSMISSION REBUILD IF IT'S NOT COVERED 'AND I DOUBT THE INSPECTOR WILL APPROVE MORE THAN 25% BEING COVERED.' (MELISSA B.) (VIA EMAIL)
2015 CROSSTREK XR - CONCURRENT WITH COMPLAINT #11396151 AS A SUBARU OWNER WHO EXPERIENCED THE SAFETY ISSUE EXPRESSED IN THE ABOVE-REFERENCED COMPLAINT, I AM ALSO AN ATTORNEY WITH MASS TORT (DEFENSE) EXPERIENCE, AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW: 1) WHY A SAFETY RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED WHEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME FAILURE AND MANIFESTING RESULTS HAVE BEEN DOCUMENTED WITH THE NHTSA, AS THEY APPEAR TO MEET THE ELEMENTS FOR A RECALL SET FORTH IN NHTSA PUBLICATIONS.; 2) IF THE NHTSA GAVE SUBARU A 'PASS' BY NOT ISSUING A RECALL BECAUSE PERHAPS (?) SUBARU COUNTERED WITH BUT FOR THE GOV'S MODEL FEDERAL FUEL EFFICIENCY STANDARDS HAVING GONE INTO EFFECT IN 2012 IT WOULD NOT HAVE BEGUN EQUIPPING ITS VEHICLES WITH CVTS TO MEET THOSE FUEL EFFICIENCY STANDARDS. I.E., DID SUBARU CLAIM OR DID THE NHTSA BELIEVE THAT THE USE OF CVTS WAS URGED BY THE NHTSA, AND APPROVED BY THE NHTSA, AND THEREFORE THE NHTSA IS PARTLY RESPONSIBLE/LIABLE FOR ANY SAFETY ISSUES AND OCCURRENCES, AND PERHAPS CHOSE TO OVERLOOK THE SAFETY CONCERNS? (NOT SAYING THIS IS THE CASE- I'M ASKING IF IT IS THE CASE.) 3) WERE THERE ACCIDENTS THAT OCCURRED BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE, AND DID ANY OF THOSE CAUSE INJURIES OR DEATHS HAVE RESULTED FROM SUCH ISSUES THAT WERE NOT REPORTED TO THE NHTSA. (CONSIDERING THE POSSIBILITY THAT WHEN ONE SEES A MANGLED VEHICLE THEY USUALLY DO NOT THINK, 'LET'S TAKE APART THE TRANSMISSION TO SEE IF IT FAILED' AS WELL AS CONSIDERING THAT THE LETTER OWNERS RECEIVED FROM SUBARU SAID THE WARRANTY WAS BEING EXTENDED FOR 'CUSTOMER SATISFACTION' AND THAT THERE WERE 'NO SAFETY CONCERNS' LEADING PEOPLE TO BELIEVE THERE WERE, IN FACT, NO SAFETY CONCERNS (DESPITE COMPLAINTS SHOWING ON THIS NTHSA COMPLAINT SITE?) 4) TO WHAT EXTENT HAS NTHSA INVESTIGATED THESE INCIDENTS? (OF TRANSMISSION FAILURES ABRUPTLY STOPPING VEHICLES IN THE MIDDLE OF EXPRESSWAYS AT 60-80 MPH? THANK YOU.
AIR BAG LIGHT STAYED ON AFTER TURNING THE CAR ON AND STAYED LITE WHILE I CONTINUED TO DRIVE HOME. NO COLLISION OR INJURY TO VEHICLE OCCURRED BETWEEN THE TIME THE CAR WAS TURNED ON AND THEN TURNED OFF AT HOME. ALSO NO ACCIDENT HAS HAPPENED IN MY TIME OWNING THE VEHICLE.
WHEN I GO TO PARK AND TURN OFF THE KEY IT LOCKS HALF WAY AND WON'T COME OUT. HAVE TO REVERSE AND PULL FORWARD SOMETIMES SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT WILL TURN COMPLETELY OFF. SUBARU HAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE DATE: 03/15/18 16-112-18R REVISED BULLETIN ABOUT AN ISSUE WITH THE "SHIFT SELECTER MECHANISM." SUBARU IS AWARE OF THE PERSISTENT PROBLEM, BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL.
KEY KEPT GETTING STUCK IN THE IGNITION WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED (AND THE SHIFTER IN THE PARK POSITION). THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN FROM SUBARU FOR FIVE OF THEIR MODELS. APPARENTLY THE CAUSE IS CONTAMINATION OF THE PARK-RANGE SWITCH INTERNAL COMPONENTS. THEY DID THE REPAIR WORK AND IT WORKS FINE NOW. I SENSE A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2015 SUBARU CROSSTREK. I HAD BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY FOR AN HOUR. I WAS GOING ABOUT 78MPH. THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED GETTING LOUD AND THE TACHOMETER WAS REVVING DOWN. IT WENT QUICKLY FROM 3 TO 0 AND IMMEDIATELY SHUT DOWN. WHEN I REALIZED IT WAS REVVING DOWN AND GETTING LOUDER I BEGAN TO SHIFT TOWARDS THE LANES ON THE RIGHT TO THE BREAK DOWN LANE. MY CAR DIDN'T MAKE IT. IT WAS ABOUT 3 MIN FROM WHEN I REALIZED SOMETHING WAS WRONG. I GOT STUCK IN THE LANE RIGHT NEXT TO THE PASSING LANE WITH 2 OTHER LANES ON THE RIGHT OF ME TO GET TO THE BREAKDOWN LANE. MY CAR HAD POWER, MY HAZARDS WERE ON, MY RADIO WAS ON, MY WINDOWS OPENED AND THE CAR WOULDN'T TURN ON. I GOT MY CAR TOWED TO MY MOMS AND IT TURNED ON AT ARRIVAL ABOUT 14 MIN AFTER IT SHUT DOWN ON ME. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME 14 MIN AWAY AND THEN DRIVE IT 35 MIN TO A SUBARU DEALER. THE DEALER SAYS ITS THE BATTERY BUT IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE TO ME IF THE CAR IGNITION WOULDN'T GO ON BUT LIGHTS RADIO AND WINDOWS WORKED AND 15 MIN LATER THE CAR TURNED ON AND DROVE LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN I HEARD A LOUD POP. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND GOT OUT TO SEE THAT ME SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED.
REAR VIEW MIRROR FELL OFF THE WINDSHIELD IN 2018 LEAVING A LARGE AREA OF BROKEN GLASS I MADE CONTACT WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO CONTACT MY INSURANCE COMPANY. I HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED. IT FELL OFF AS I WAS DRIVING AND WAS ADJUSTING THE MIRROR. *TR
REVERSE LIGHTS AND REAR VIEW CAMERA WILL NOT TURN OFF. THEY STAY ON IN DRIVE, NEUTRAL, PARK AND THE MANUAL MODE. I'VE BEEN TO THE SUBARU DEALER AND ANOTHER MECHANIC AND THEY CANNOT RESOLVE WITHOUT MAJOR LABOR HOURS TO LOOK INTO THE ISSUE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. CARS BEHIND ME WILL BELIEVE I AM REVERSING INTO THEM SINCE THE LIGHTS ARE ALWAYS ON (THEY MAY DECIDE TO TAKE UNNECESSARY EVASIVE ACTION). THIS IS ALSO BLINDS DRIVERS WHO ARE BEHIND ME AS THE BRIGHT REVERSE LIGHTS ARE ALWAYS ON. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS. THIS IS NOT SAFE. THIS HAPPENS IN MOTION, IN PARK, ETC. I'VE DONE NO MODIFICATIONS TO THIS CAR AND THIS CAR HAS NEVER BEEN JUMP STARTED. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO UPLOAD VIDEOS OF THIS INCIDENT OCCURRING AS I HAVE MANY. WITH THE REVERSE CAMERA STAYING ON THE CAR'S INFOTAINMENT CENTER IS RENDERED USELESS. THIS IS ALSO EXTREMELY DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING AS YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH A CONSTANT VIDEO FEED OF WHAT'S BEHIND YOU.
CV JOINTS WENT BAD AROUND 100,000 MILES WHEN WARRANTY EXPIRED. ALL FREEWAY DRIVING, EVEN THO CAR WAS PURCHASED FOR MORE OFF ROAD/UNPACKED ROAD USE, WHICH HASN'T HAPPENED MUCH. GUESS IF I DID USE IT MORE OFF ROAD THIS WLD HAVE HAPPENED EARLIER & BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE.
EXPERIENCING TROUBLE REMOVING IGNITION KEY, AND GETTING WORSE OVER TIME. I MUST START THE VEHICLE A FEW TIMES, PLACE IT IN REVERSE THEN RETURN TO PARK. THEN I AM ABLE TO REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 66000 MILES. THIS IS CERTAINLY NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR.
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY FOR 1.5 HRS WHEN CAR JUST WENT LIMP. ACCELERATOR WOULDN'T WORK, STARTED TO PULL OVER, CAR CAME TO STOP AND IT WAS DEAD, EXCEPT FOR ELECTRICAL. TRIED TO RESTART FOR OVER AN HOUR AND ALTHOUGH IT CRANKED, IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. AGAIN ALL ELECTRICAL WAS FULLY FUNCTIONAL. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED, THE NEXT DAY IT STARTED RIGHT UP AND NO WARNING LIGHTS ARE ON ON THE DASH AT ALL. VEHICLE IS SERVICED AS SCHEDULED, AND ONLY HAS 47,000. AFTER RESEARCHING FORUM I HAVE FOUND IT IS SOMEWHAT A POPULAR THING BUT DEALEERSHIPS CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, YET IN KEEPS RECURRING TO OWNERS. SEEMS TO BE A FACTORY ISSUE OR SOME SORT OF FAULTY PART THAT IS CUTTING THE FUEL PROCESS. WHEN YOU ARE STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY IN THE DARK, IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND JUST HOPE NO OTHER CAR HAPPENS TO SWERVE AND HIT YOU. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE A POPULAR OCCURRENCE WITH THE VEHICLE.
VARIOUS WARNING SYMBOLS ON THE DASH WILL ILLUMINATE FOR NO REASON WHEN THE CAR IS OPERATING AND IS IN MOTION ON EITHER HIGHWAY OR CITY STREET. DIFFERENT SYMBOLS AT DIFFERENT TIMES. INCLUDED ARE LOW TIRE PRESSURE, DYNAMIC CONTROL, HILL START ASSIST, ABS. THESE WARNING LIGHTS WILL JUST COME ON EITHER BY THEMSELVES OR SEVERAL AT A TIME. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WILL ALSO BECOME NON-RESPONSIVE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE WHILE IN MOTION IN TRAFFIC ON A CITY STREET. THE CAR WILL ACTUALLY START TO DECELERATE. PUMPING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAS BROUGHT RESPONSIVENESS BACK. BRAKE LIGHTS WILL ALSO COME ON ON THEIR OWN WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED, ENGINE OFF, NOT OPERATING AND WILL COMPLETELY DRAIN THE BATTERY. CANNOT EVEN UNLOCK THE CAR WITH THE KEY FOB. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST MONTH.
WHILE VEHICLE WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP, WITH HAND BRAKE APPLIED AND SHIFTER IN PARK POSITION THE KEY DOES NOT ALWAYS RELEASE. HAPPENS SPORADICALLY AND MORE SO WITH THE WHEELS TURNED. UNABLE TO PARK UP HEEL OR PULL THE KEY OUT.
IN JULY, THIS YEAR (2019), THE KEY BEGAN STICKING IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. GRADUALLY WORSENED OVER A PERIOD OF 2 WEEK TO THE POINT THAT IT COULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH AT ALL. BOB MOORE DEALERSHIP FIXED THE ISSUE COSTING ME OVER $500.00. DURING THE PAST WEEK THE SAME IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM HAS BEGAN TO OCCUR AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 SUBARU XV CROSSTREK. WHILE DRIVING AND RELEASING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE FOR APPROXIMATELY FOUR SECONDS WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WOULD THEN RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SERVCO TOYOTA HONOLULU (2850 PUKOLOA ST #200, HONOLULU, HI 96819, (808) 564-1100) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT A FAILURE CODE WAS NOT FOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TEST DRIVEN, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 19,000.
AT TIMES WE ARE NOT ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK. WE LOOKED AROUND THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT SUBARU HAD RELEASED A SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING THIS. BULLETIN NUMBER 16-112-18R ADDRESSES THE ISSUE THAT WE ARE HAVING WITH OUR CROSSTREK. PEOPLE ARE SAYING ONLINE THAT THEY ARE SPENDING $400+ TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED. WHY ISN'T SUBARU DOING A RECALL ON THIS IF LOT OF CARS ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE? THE PRICE TO GET THIS FIXED IS A LOT CONSIDERING THE CAR IS NOT THAT OLD AND THIS IS NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE. IT IS A DESIGN FLAW AND THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE ADDRESSING IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 SUBARU XV CROSSTREK. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS OR WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT IT FAILED TO ENGAGE PROPERLY. ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF FOR THIRTY MINUTES TO ONE HOUR OR MORE IN ORDER TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V149000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING) APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR AGO. AT THAT TIME, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DICK HANNAH SUBARU (7407 NE VANCOUVER PLAZA DR, VANCOUVER, WA 98662, (360) 605-1520) FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH WAS REPLACED OVER EIGHT TIMES BY TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ENGAGE WHEN CAR IS IN PARK. UNABLE TO COMPLETELY TURN OFF VEHICLE OR REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION
WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION. UNABLE TO LEAVE VEHICLE IN A PUBLIC PALACE AND NOT ABLE TO LOCK THE CAR BECAUSE OF A FAULTY GEAR PARK RANG SWITCH
WHILE IN MOTION, AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON DASHBOARD WILL ILLUMINATE. CONCURRENTLY THE PASSENGER AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT WILL TURN TO "OFF". THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING. THE LIGHTS DO NOT GO OFF OR RETURN TO "ON" UNTIL THE CAR IS RESTARTED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 SUBARU CROSSTREK. WHILE DRIVING 80-85 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE TACHOMETER INCREASED TO HIGH AND THE SPEEDOMETER DECREASED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, IT PERFORMED AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUBARU OF KENNESAW (905 ERNEST W BARRETT PKWY NW, KENNESAW, GA 30144, (770) 419-9800) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: SR1-46572013025 AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,300. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 75 MPH, PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE, WHEN THE CAR RAPIDLY LOST SPEED AND REVVED TO 5500 RPM. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO LOSE SPEED AND WOULD NOT RESPOND WHEN I PRESSED DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR. I HAD TO QUICKLY PULL TO THE LEFT SHOULDER. LUCKILY, THE CAR BEHIND ME WAS PAYING ATTENTION AND WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND NOT HIT US. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND LUCKILY THE VEHICLE DID RESTART. MY FUEL LIGHT HAD JUST TURNED ON MINUTES BEFORE THIS BUT I STILL HAD 60 MILES TO GO BEFORE EMPTY. I WAS PLANNING ON EXITING TO REFUEL BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. I STILL DO NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED THIS TO OCCUR. I LEFT A MESSAGE WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND I AM AWAITING A RETURN PHONE CALL TO HAVE THE VEHICLE ASSESSED.
AFTER PUTTING MY CAR IN PARK, MY KEY WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. I HAVE TO REVERSE AND DRIVE UP AGAIN AND THEN PARK AGAIN, IN ORDER FOR MY KEY TO THEN FINALLY COME OUT. I'M NERVOUS THAT WON'T WORK FOR LONG. I'VE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE AND YET SUBARU HASN'T ISSUED A RECALL. HOPING WE WON'T BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST TO REPAIR WHAT IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURER ISSUE! SUBARU PLEASE INVESTIGATE!!
I WAS DRIVING NORTH ON HIGHLAND AVENUE, JUST AFTER 7 AM, THURSDAY, JULY 11, WHEN SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION, THE RPMS WENT LOW, AND THE VEHICLE DIED. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR INDICATIONS OF A PROBLEM BEFORE THE EVENT. THIS LEFT ME STRANDED BETWEEN 35TH AND 31ST STREET DURING THE BUSY RUSH HOUR PERIOD. UNABLE TO RESTART. TOW INTO THE DEALER. FUEL PUMP FAILURE WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE CAUSE. THIS WAS ALARMING FROM A SAFETY STANDPOINT BECAUSE WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE STOPPED OPERATING, LEAVING ME STUCK IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC HAVING TO SIGNAL APPROACHING DRIVERS TO AVOID MY STALLED CAR. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WORSE IF THE EVENT HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION. WHAT'S MORE, WITH A LITTLE OVER 63000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, THE PUMP FAILURE OCCURRED LONG BEFORE THE VEHICLES EXPECTED OPERATIONAL LIFE. I VIEW THIS PUMP FAILURE INCIDENT AS A SERIOUS SUBARU PRODUCT MANUFACTURING DEFECT CAPABLE OF ENDANGERING THE LIVES OF DRIVERS, PASSENGERS AND FELLOW TRAVELERS ON OUR STREETS AND HIGHWAYS.
I DECIDED TO DRIVE FROM PHOENIX, AZ TO SAN DIEGO, CA WHEN ABOUT 200 MILES IN, MY ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 85MPH DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THE ENTIRE TRIP MY CAR HAD BEEN FINE, THE GAS LIGHT HAD JUST COME ON ABOUT A MINUTE BEFORE, BUT MY CAR TOLD ME I HAD 50 MILES UNTIL I RAN OUT OF GAS. I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING OF THE ENGINE ABOUT TO SHUT OFF EXCEPT THAT AROUND THE SAME TIME THE GAS LIGHT CAME ON, MY AC QUIT WORKING. I WAS TRYING TO MESS WITH THE AC WHEN I SUDDENLY WENT FROM 85 TO 30MPH AND HAD TO PULL OFF IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE I REALIZED MY ENGINE HAD SHUT OFF. ONCE I PULLED OVER AND THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I COULD NOT GET THE CAR RESTARTED SO I CALLED A TOW COMPANY TO TOW ME TO THE NEAREST TOWN. WHILE WAITING ON THE TOW TRUCK, I SAT IN MY CAR USING THE BATTERY TO CHARGE MY PHONE, SO I KNOW THE BATTERY WAS NOT DEAD. ONCE THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER ARRIVED HE TRIED TO START MY CAR AGAIN, BUT COULD NOT. ABOUT 24 HOURS LATER I HAD A FAMILY FRIEND COME TOW THE CAR BACK TO PHOENIX, AND HE WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AND DRIVE IT ONTO THE TOW RAMP! I WAS STILL AFRAID TO DRIVE IT, AND WE TOWED IT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT THE NEXT DAY, DROVE IT FOR ABOUT 50 MILES AND SAID THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED, BUT I'M SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE IF THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE SHUT OFF ON A BUSY INTERSTATE I COULD HAVE DIED. I HAD ONLY OWNED THE CAR FOR 10 DAYS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED, AND I HADN'T EVEN PUT 500 MILES ON IT. CURRENTLY THE DEALERSHIP IN PHOENIX HAS IT AND IS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED.
THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND THE POWER STAYS ON. I WAS TOLD TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL SLIGHTLY AND TRY AGAIN, THIS DOES NOTHING, THE CAR IS COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. TURNING OFF AND RE-STARTING DOES NOT WORK. THIS HAPPENED ONLY A FEW TIMES LAST MONTH, NOW ITS ALMOST EVERYDAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 SUBARU XV CROSSTREK. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V149000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. MID HUDSON SUBARU (1715 U.S. 9, WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY 12590, (845) 296-1152) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE NEXT AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT WAS JULY 17, 2019. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF UNEXPECTEDLY AND I HAD TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART THE CAR (PER INSTRUCTIONS ON THE NAVIGATION SCREEN). THE FIRST TIME I WAS ABLE TO CREEP TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD & RESTART THE CAR. THE SECOND TIME, I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT AT THAT TIME. I WAS TOLD THAT THE "RESTART BATTERY" WAS AT FAULT AND WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. THE CAR HAS 30,100 MILES ON IT AND IS 3 1/2 YEARS OLD (THE WARRANTY IS 36 MO OR 36,000 MILES. THE HYBRID BATTERY HAS A 5 YEAR WARRANTY BUT THE "RESTART BATTERY" ISN'T CONSIDERED PART OF THIS; EVEN THOUGH IT IS ONLY ON THE HYBRID CAR. MY MAIN CONCERN WAS THAT THE GAS ENGINE QUIT WITHOUT WARNING DUE TO THIS ISSUE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP.
MY CAR HAS BEEN LEAKING FOR A LONG WHILE NOW. I DIDN'T EXPECT IT TO HAPPEN BUT WHEN RECENTLY I SAW SMALL DROPS OF OIL, I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID MY CAM BOX SEAL WAS LEAKING AND THEN I WENT INTO MORE RESEARCH. I FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS ACTUALLY A COMMON ISSUE FROM MY FELLOW CROSSTREK OWNERS. THIS ISNT ACCEPTABLE AT ALL BECAUSE THIS DOESNT MAKE THESE RELIABLE ANYMORE. IT'S NOW A HEADACHE AND TROUBLE ON THE ROAD. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE THOUGHT OVER IN RESPECT TO US THE CONSUMERS. THE CROSSTREK ARE A VERY POPULAR CAR THAT PEOPLE LOVE INCLUDING ME BUT THIS PROBLEM GIVES EVERYONE OF US TO COMPLAIN TO HAVE IT FIXED.
2015 SUBARU XV CROSSTREK LIMITED WITH AUTO CLIMATE CONTROLS AFTER SITTING FOR 3 DAYS I STARTED VEHICLE AND HAD NO HVAC CONTROL, VEHICLES HAS 80,000 MILES. I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AFTER DRIVING 80 MILES HOPING THE COMPUTER GLITCHED AND WOULD RESET THE CONTROLS, STILL NO CONTROL OF HVAC SYSTEM
I SPILLED 3-4 OUNCES OF COFFEE ON MY FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. A SHORT TIME LATER, THE SRS AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASH AND MY PASSENGER SEAT WOULD NO LONGER RECOGNIZE THAT A PASSENGER WAS SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT (PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF LIGHT WOULD NOT SWITCH TO ON WHEN A PASSENGER WAS SEATED). I CALLED MY LOCAL SUBARU DEALERSHIP AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE PASSENGER SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS VERY SENSITIVE AND THAT MOISTURE COULD INTERFERE WITH IT AND DISABLE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG UNTIL THE SENSOR DRIES. APPARENTLY THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY. THIS SEEMS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN ANY CAR, BUT ESPECIALLY A SUBARU WHICH IS MARKETED AS AN "OUTDOORS" OR "ADVENTURE" CAR WHERE WET PEOPLE/DOGS/EQUIPMENT COULD REGULARLY BE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING AND STATIONARY WHEN THE WARNING LIGHT APPEARED ON MY DASH.
TAKATA RECALL FOR THE PAST YEAR I HAVE BEEN CHECKING MY MOTOR OIL AND REFILLING AS NEEDED. LEARNING TO BE A CAR MECHANIC IS ONE OF MY HOBBIES THAT I LIKE TO DO. IN DOING SO, I ALWAYS CHECK MY CAR AND MAKE SURE ITS UP AND RUNNING WITH NO ISSUES. I HAVE CONSTANTLY NOTICE THAT THERE WAS SOME OIL UNDER THE ENGINE WHETHER OLD OR FRESH. THEN JUST RECENTLY I WENT TO MY LOCAL SUBARU DEALERSHIP TO FINALLY GET TO THE BOTTOM OF IT. AS A RESULT I LEARNED THAT THE CAM BOX SEAL IS LEAKING. I THEN DID MY RESEARCH ON IT AND FOUND OUT THAT IT'S A COMMON ISSUE AMONG OTHER SUBARU OWNERS AND THAT OTHER CAR BRAND USES GASKETS IN WHICH IT LASTS LONGER. IN MY VIEW, OTHER OWNERS MAY NOT KNOW HOW OR WHEN TO CHECK UNDER THEIR CAR FOR THESE KIND OF ISSUES AND THIS CAN LEAD TO THE ENGINE NOT HAVING ENOUGH OIL TO BURN AND BREAKING DOWN OR SIMILAR SITUATIONS. IT MAY NOT BE A SHORT TERM EFFECT BUT IF IT CAN BE PREVENTED IT SHOULD BE.
I WAS DRIVING ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY GOING 55MPH. MY KNEE BUMPED THE STEERING COLUMN AND AT THAT MOMENT THE DASH WENT BLANK, I LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER BEFORE THE STEERING LOCKED UP. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED. AFTER AWHILE I DISCOVERED THE CAR WOULD RESTART AND DROVE THE REMAINING 20 MILES HOME WITH NO PROBLEM. IT WASN'T UNTIL I CALLED THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND LOOKED ONLINE THAT I REALIZED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I'M SHORT , 5'1' AND HAD THE STEERING COLUMN AT THE LOWEST POSITION AND THE SEAT FORWARD. I'VE MOVED THE COLUMN TO THE NEXT SETTING HIGHER AND BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM IS NOW UNLIKELY TO RECUR. THE LOWEST COLUMN POSITION SHOULD BE ELIMINATED . DANGEROUS!!
FROM A STOP OR AT LOW SPEEDS, WHEN YOU PRESS THE GAS PEDAL THERE IS A DELAY OF APPROXIMATELY 1.5 SECONDS BEFORE THE ENGINE RESPONDS. THIS IS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC FROM A DRIVEWAY, OR IF YOU NEED TO QUICKLY MANEUVER TO AVOID A COLLISION. SUBARU TECHNICIANS HAVE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, AND THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG MECHANICALLY. I BELIEVE THIS IS A FLAW IN THE ECM PROGRAMMING. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALS HUNDREDS OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH VARIOUS MODELS OF SUBARU. THERE ARE SEVERAL AFTERMARKET DEVICES WHICH CLAIM TO FIX THIS BY CONNECTING TO THE OBDII PORT AND CHANGING THE PROGRAMMING SO IT MATCHES THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL LINEARLY. ONE SUCH DEVICE IS HTTPS://WWW.SPRINTBOOSTERSALES.COM/SUBARU I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO RELY ON AN AFTERMARKET ACCESSORY TO ADDRESS A CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE.
WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE ABS, HILL ASSIST, AND VEHICLE DYNAMICS CONTROL LIGHTS ALL LIGHT UP AND LOCK DOWN THE CAR. WILL CONTINUE TO DRIVE BUT THE NEXT TIME THE CAR IS STARTED, IT MAY NOT BACK UP OR GO IN DRIVE AGAIN.
CAR STALLED AND DIED WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY TRAVELING 75MPH. FELT LIKE THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO A LOW GEAR AND THE RPM'S REVVED. CAR IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER AND FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY MOVE TO FREEWAY SHOULDER. CAR WOULD NOT START AND HAD TO BE TOWED BUT ALL ELECTRICAL STILL FUNCTIONED. I WAS LOW ON GAS BUT NOT OUT. I WAS ON FREEWAY AT 11:30PM JUST OUTSIDE DETROIT WHEN THIS OCCURRED. RIDICULOUSLY UNSAFE. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT DEALER AND WILL BE LOOKED AT 8/14/2018. INCIDENT 8/9/2018. EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS HAPPENED TO THE SAME VEHICLE 6 MONTHS AGO. CAR DIED ON FREEWAY TRAVELING 75MPH, RPM'S REVVED, GOT SAFELY TO SHOULDER. VEHICLE TOWED. CAR STARTED NEXT MORNING AND NO ERROR CODES FOUND. EVEN MORE COMPELLING, THE ENGINE DIED 3 OTHER TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT LEAST 45MPH, SAME SENSATION OF ENGINE GOING INTO LOWER GEAR, RPM'S INCREASED TO 5000+, CAR DIES, ELECTRICAL WORKS. CAR WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER 10-15 MINUTES OF REST. THESE 3 INCIDENTS ARE NOT DOCUMENTED BECAUSE I WAS NOT TOWED AND DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE. I WISH I HAD. I AM REPORTING FOR THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT OF 8/9/2018. (I FEEL LIKE I'M SHOUTING WITH ALL CAPS. I AM SHOUTING BECAUSE THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED!)
MY CAR BECAME STUCK IN PARK DUE TO A DEFECTIVE BREAK LIGHT SWITCH. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TO HAVE IT TOWED, BUT LUCKILY I CHECKED THE INTERNET AND LEARNED I HAD TO OVERRIDE THE SYSTEM BY STICKING A BOLT INTO A PORT ON THE GEAR SHIFT PANEL. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. I KNOW SEVERAL PEOPLE PERSONALLY WHO HAVE ALSO HAD THIS PROBLEM, AND THE DEALERSHIP WAS FAMILIAR WITH IT. IT IS INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING TO BE STUCK IN A PARKING LOT UNABLE TO DRIVE YOUR CAR WHEN ITS AN ISSUE THAT COULD EASILY BE PREVENTED. IT WAS A 100+ DEGREE DAY AND LUCKILY I WAS IN TOWN. BUT HAD I BEEN STUCK OUT AT A TRAILHEAD OR OTHERWISE OUT OF CELL SERVICE THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED AND BEGINNING TO PROCEED AGAIN, IT WILL BUCK, STAGGER SOMETIMES SLAM INTO GEAR, SOMETIMES THE GEAR DOESNT ENGAGE, WHEN I AM APPLYING BRAKES IT WILL ALSO HAPPEN JUST ABOUT STALLING OR IT WILL JUMP FORWARD- THIS HAPPENS ON ALL ROADS AND MY DRIVEWAY
I HAVE A 2015 CROSSTREK THAT HAS 31,000 MILES ON IT AND I HAVE BEEN HAVING AN ISSUE WHEN PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK THAT YOU CAN NOT TURN THE KEY TO THE OFF POSITION TO SHUT THE CAR DOWN. I HAVE HAD TO PLAY WITH THE SHIFTER PUTTING THE CAR IN REVERSE AND THEN IN PARK AGAIN HOPING THIS TIME I CAN TURN THE CAR OFF. TAKING THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER. THESE CARS NEED TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED AT SUBARU'S EXPENSE, CLEARLY THEY HAVE ISSUES.
SOMETIMES WHEN PUSHING THE BRAKE PEDAL THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON AND WILL NOT ALLOW THE CAR TO SHIFT FROM PARK. OTHER TIMES MAY COME ON WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR ONLY HAS 25K MILES ON IT. I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE ANYWHERE AND GET STUCK THERE NOR DO I NEED A BRAKE PROBLEM IN SNOW AS I LIVE IN NEW YORK STATE. AFTER READING ONLINE IT SEEMS TO BE NOT AN UNCOMMON ISSUE BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. AFTER SHUTTING THE CAR ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES THE ABS LIGHT GOES OUT AND THE CAR IS THEN ABLE TO SHIFT. AGAIN I DON'T NEED TO WORRY ABOUT MY PERSONAL SAFETY OR SAFETY OF THE PASSENGERS IN MY CAR.
DRIVER AND PASSENGER WINDOWS NOT FUNCTIONING NORMALLY AFTER 38,000 MILES. DRIVER SIDE WILL AUTO DOWN, BUT WILL ONLY ROLL UP A FEW INCHES AT A TIME. PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW CONTROLS FAIL ON DRIVER SIDE BUT DOWN FUNCTIONALITY WORK ON PASSENGER SIDE HOWEVER UP FUNCTION FAILS AND WINDOW STAYS STUCK OPEN.
THE KEY GET REMAIN STUCK IN THE IGNITION AFTER DRIVING. FOR A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT ABOUT OF TIME. BASED FEEDBACK FROM THE DEALER THIS IS BEING REPORTED IN MANY SUBARU VEHICLES. THE PROBLEM IS SUGGESTED TO BE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND NOTHING SPECIFIC WITH THE KEY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 SUBARU XV CROSSTREK HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE CONTACT NOTICED AN ABNORMAL ROTTEN EGG ODOR EMERGING FROM THE VENTS. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY WAS LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUBARU OF GLENDALE (308 S BRAND BLVD, GLENDALE, CA 91204) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE STOP AND GO BATTERY WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 1-32989483270. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED A FREE BATTERY REPLACEMENT. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AND THE CAR TOOK OFF LIKE A ROCKET!.I HEARD THE ENGINE ROARING IT JUMPED THE CURB, SPED ABOUT 15 FEET THROUGH THE GRASS, I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES, JUST MISSED A TREE, AND THE CAR STOPPED.
TRAVELING ON WESTBOUND I-74,8:30 PM 02/10/2018 APPROXIMATELY 63MPH,CAR ON CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE CAR LOST POWER,FELT LIKE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING,ENGINE REVS TO 8000 RPM.LUCKILY,LITTLE TRAFFIC,PULLED CAR TO RIGHT SHOULDER.TURNED KEY OFF,CAR WOULD NOT RESTART.CALLED WRECKER AND TOWED CAR TO BUSAM SUBARU IN FAIRFIELD,OH.VERY FORTUNATE THAT PEOPLE ON 74 WERE NOT KILLED WHEN CAR LOST POWER,VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE INVOLVED HERE.CAR LOST POWER DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE,ON CRUISE CONTROL OVER RELATIVELY LEVEL TERRAIN.BUSAM WILL BE NOTIFIED TOMORROW MORNING THE CAR HAS BEEN TOWED TO THEIR LOT AND HOPEFULLY THEY CAN FIND OUT WHAT HAS HAPPENED.NEGLECTED TO SAY THE CROSSTREK HAS APPROX. 32000 MILES AND UP TO THIS,HAS NEVER PRESENTED ANY ISSUES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 SUBARU CROSSTREK. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE EYESIGHT DRIVER ASSIST SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DROVE HOME, TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND THE INDICATOR DIMMED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BERTERA SUBARU OF HARTFORD (111 WESTON ST, HARTFORD, CT 06120, (888) 865-1393) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
DURING THE MORNING AND SOMETIMES IN THE AFTERNOON AS I START THE VEHICLE THE STEERING LIGHT COMES ON AND THE VEHICLE IS NOT ABLE TO BE STEERED. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND I BROUGHT IT TO THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER MANUFACTURES WARRANTY. LAST WEEK THE DEALERSHIP CALLED AND STATED IT WAS REPAIRED, I HAVE ALL THE RECORDS. AS MY PREGNANT WIFE AND I GOT INTO THE VEHICLE I STARTED THE CAR TO LEAVE AND THE STEERING LIGHT WAS ON AGAIN, AND I COULD NOT STEER THE VEHICLE. I AM NOW VERY AFRAID THIS WILL HAPPEN WHILE I AM DRIVING. I HAVE NOT CONFIDENCE IN THE CAR AND THE DEALERSHIPS ABILITY TO FIX THE ISSUE AND THE VEHICLE SITS AT THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP IN ROSEVILLE CA CURRENTLY. ON ALL OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, BUT THERE ARE INCIDENTS WHERE OTHER SUBARU DRIVES HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE MANY RECORDS THAT CAN BE REVIEWED.
EVER SINCE THE FIRST BATTERY DIED AFTER A COLD WINTER, THE CAR HAS BEEN DRAINING THE BATTERY ON IT'S OWN MANNER. CURRENTLY, ONCE AWHILE, I WILL NOTICE IT DRAINS MUCH MORE OVERNIGHT THAN NORMAL, AND IF LEFT UNUSED 3-5 DAYS, THE CAR BATTERY WILL BE COMPLETELY DRAINED. COMMUNICATED WITH THE DEALER AND SUBARU, BUT CONSIDER THE CAR HAS NO ISSUE AND DETERMINED THAT IT WAS MY FAULT THAT I MUST BE NOT DRIVING ENOUGH. THE FIRST BATTERY LASTED FROM 9/2015 TO 2/2017, BEEN DRIVING UNDER SAME METHOD, BEHAVIOR, AND CONDITION BEFORE THE DEATH OF FIRST BATTERY AND AFTER. HOWEVER, EVEN SINCE THE CHANGE OF THE BATTERY, THE ISSUE EXIST AND NEVER FIXED BY DEALER. A GOOD NOTE IS THAT A TOWING COMPANY PERSON HAD A SAME CAR WITH SAME ISSUE, IT WAS FIXED BY REPLACING THE BATTERY CONTROL BOARD OR SUCH. HOWEVER, SUBARU AND DEALER DIDN'T THINK THAT MAY BE THE POSSIBLE CAUSE. IN THIS MANNER OF THE CAR, I CAN NOT TRUST THE CAR TO KEEP DRIVING SAFELY, OR MAYBE IT WILL NOT TURN BACK ON AFTER A TRIP INTO MOUNTAIN ROAD AND STOPPED FOR A BREAK TIME. BATTERY IS THE KEY PART TO KEEP THE ENGINE FIRING AND RUNNING. IF IT DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING, THIS ISSUE MAY CAUSE DEATH. THE CAR HAD DIED IN VARIES LOCATION. SUCH AS HOME DRIVEWAY, HOME GARAGE, AIRPORT PARKING LOT, AND PUBLIC LOCATIONS. YESTERDAY, THE CAR JUST DIED AGAIN INSIDE THE HOUSE GARAGE. IF NEEDED, I CAN BE REACH ANY TIME WITH MY PHONE. I JUST WANT MY CAR ISSUE BEING TAKEN CARE OF, AND SUBARU TO SEE THE ISSUE BEFORE ANYONE GET KILLED.
ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY: I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF WHEN MY LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, WHICH MEANT I STILL HAD 70 MILES LEFT UNTIL EMPTY. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE MIDDLE LANE, MY ENGINE MADE A REVVING NOISE AND MY CAR LOST POWER (PRESSED GAS PEDAL, BUT NOTHING HAPPENED). PRIOR TO THAT, THE CAR DROVE NORMALLY. THANKFULLY, I WAS ABLE TO EXIT OFF OF THE HIGHWAY, AT A SNAIL'S PACE, AND PULL INTO A PARKING LOT AND AS SOON AS I DID, THE CAR DIED AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON. RADIO STILL WORKED. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON BEFORE THE CAR LOST POWER, EXCEPT FOR THE LOW FUEL LIGHT. I TRIED TO RE-START THE CAR, BUT THE ENGINE DID NOT TURN OVER. I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK AND BY THE TIME THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED THE CAR STARTED NORMALLY. I DID NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR AND HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE CODE FOR CAR RUNNING TOO LEAN HAD COME ON. AFTER PUTTING THE CAR THROUGH A SERIES OF TESTS, THEY DETERMINED THAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN BAD GAS PUT INTO THE TANK. AFTER SEEING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FOR THE 2015 FORESTERS AND CROSSTREKS WITH IDENTICAL SITUATIONS, I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT GAS WAS THE CULPRIT. . I HAVE OWNED VARIOUS CARS OVER THE YEARS AND THE ONLY THING THAT BAD GAS CAUSED WAS SPUTTERING. I BOUGHT A NEW CAR SO THAT I HAVE PEACE OF MIND WHILE DRIVING 80 MILES ON A BUSY HIGHWAY EVERY DAY. I NO LONGER HAVE THAT PEACE OF MIND AND INSTEAD WONDER IF MY TWO YEAR OLD CAR WILL LOSE POWER AGAIN, BUT UNDER DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES. WILL IT HAPPEN AT NIGHT WITH NOWHERE TO PULL OVER WITH A TRACTOR TRAILER BEARING DOWN ON ME? SINCE THE INCIDENT, CAR NOW HAS ACCELERATION PROBLEMS AT LOW SPEEDS; FEELING LIKE IT WILL STALL WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, BUT IT DOES NOT ACTUALLY STALL. CAR HAS BEEN AT DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY CANNOT REPEAT THE PROBLEM.
I HAVE RANDOM BUT CONSISTENT PROBLEMS WITH MY 2015 SUBARU CROSSTREK IN REGARDS TO THE CVT, STALLING AND ACCELERATION ISSUES. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MANY OCCASIONS. WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND THEN ACCELERATING AGAIN IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR IS ABOUT TO STALL AND IN SOME SITUATIONS I FELT IT DID FOR A SECOND. ITS A VERY FRIGHTENING SITUATION WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC OR DRIVING DEFENSIVELY AND THE CAR JUST DOESN'T RESPOND. I HAVE COME VERY CLOSE TO BEING HIT BECAUSE THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND. ANOTHER WAY TO EXPLAIN IT IS THIS: WHEN STARTING FROM A COMPLETE STOP, ITS LIKE THE CAR SHIFTS FROM 1ST TO 4TH IN A SPLIT SECOND AND THE CAR FAILS TO ACCELERATE AND IT TAKES ABOUT 5 SECONDS FOR THE CAR TO RESPOND AND SLOWLY PICK UP SPEED LIKE IT WAS ACCELERATING STARTING IN THE WRONG GEAR (4TH). I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS FOR OVER 2 YEARS NOW AND I'D LIKE TO GET THIS FIXED ASAP. PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL FOR THESE CVTS AND HAVE THE MANUFACTURER FIX THEM. JUST EXTENDING THE WARRANTY TO 100K DOES NO GOOD BECAUSE I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP LAST WEEK AND TIMES BEFORE AND THEY DIDN'T FIX ANYTHING, THEY JUST COLLECTED DATA AND SENT IT TO SUBARU BUT I STILL HAVE THE ISSUE. I ALSO NOTICED THE PROBLEM MORE PROMINENT WHEN THE WEATHER IS WARMER WHICH LEADS ME TO ALSO SUSPECT AN AIR/FUEL ISSUE OR SOMETHING ELSE ADDING TO THE PROBLEM.
AT 37,801 MILES, THE BRAKE SWITCH COMPONENT FAILED ON MY 2015 SUBARU XV CROSSTREK. THE HILL ASSIST, ABS, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ALL CAME ON. WHEN I PARKED THE VEHICLE AND SHUT IT OFF, IT REFUSED TO COME OUT OF PARK, LEAVING THE VEHICLE STRANDED. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS PART, HOWEVER, THERE IS NO RECALL AT THIS TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 SUBARU XV CROSSTREK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO REMAIN AT THE DESIRED SPEED AND INCREASED SPEED SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (TUCSON SUBARU, 4901 N ORACLE RD, TUCSON, AZ 85704, (520) 422-2111) WHO REPLACED THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
THE BRAKE SWITCH FAILED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE STUCK IN PARK. SUBARU HAS A RECALL ON THE BRAKE SWITCH, BUT MY CAR IS NOT COVERED UNDER THAT RECALL. RECALL 15V366000. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH SUBARU AND THE DEFECT SHOULD BE COVERED.
EVERY FEW MONTHS THE ENGINE DROPS TO AN IDLE STATE FOR AT LEASE ONE SECOND JUST AFTER ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS PRESSED. SO WHEN EXPECTING POWER FOR URGENT ACCELERATION, THERE IS INITIAL MOMENTARY POWER, PROPELLING THE CAR ONTO A BUSY ROAD, FOR EXAMPLE, THEN ENGINE RPM DROPS TO IDLE AND CAR STOPS ACCELERATING FOR A SECOND OR MORE BEFORE POWER STARTS TO RETURN. THIS USUALLY WILL OCCUR SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF A FEW DAYS AND THEN CLEARS UP BY ITSELF FOR ANOTHER FEW MONTHS BEFORE THE HAZARD REOCCURS. RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY SAY IF THE MECHANIC CAN'T REPEAT THE PROBLEM, THERE IS NOTHING SUBARU CAN DO. THE CAR HAS EXHIBITED THIS PROBLEM SINCE NEW. AT ONE POINT I FOUND THAT IT SEEMED THAT CELL PHONE EMI COUPLING INTO THE CAR'S WIRING HARNESS HAD MADE THE PROBLEM WORSE. IN THAT CASE THE ENGINE WOULD DROP TO AN IDLE FOR UP TO THREE SECONDS AND WOULD OCCUR MORE FREQUENTLY. TO DATE NO COMPONENTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY SUBARU. AT THIS POINT I WOULD LIKE SUBARU TO BUY BACK THE CAR BECAUSE OF THIS CYCLICAL SAFETY HAZARD, WHERE THE ENGINE UNEXPECTEDLY YET INFREQUENTLY DROPS TO AN IDLE STATE. I'VE GOT ABOUT 21 PAGES OF EMAIL CORRESPONDENCE WITH SUBARU REGARDING THIS PROBLEM AND AND THEY HAVE YET TO OFFER ANY PLAN OF ACTION.
WHILE ON A VERY SLIGHT DOWNSLOPE, WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK, THE VEHICEL ROLLED DOWN THE HILL WITH NO ONE IN IT. HAD I BEEN STANDING IN FRONT OF IT, I WOULD HAVE BEEN RUN OVER.
AS DRIVER WAS PARKING IN FRONT OF HER HOME, VEHICLE ACCELERATED IN RESPONSE TO BRAKING AND RAMMED INTO FRONT PORCH, ABOUT 60 FEET AWAY. DESPITE FORCE OF COLLISION, NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.
AFTER REMOVING CAR FROM GARAGE, WHILE SLOWLY DRIVING UPHILL IN ALLEY (LESS THAN 15 MPH ), CAR ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN WHILE MY RIGHT FOOT WAS IN THE AIR ON THE WAY TO BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN FOR A TURN. THE CAR MOVED & SOUNDED AS IF ACCELERATOR HAD BEEN DEPRESSED, BUT IT WASN'T BY THE DRIVER! I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR WITH THE BRAKE, BUT UNINTENDED ACCELERATION CAUSED CAR TO OVERSHOOT WHERE I WANTED IT TO GO BY SEVERAL FEET. IT DIDN'T COLLIDE WITH ANYTHING. I HEARD A "THUNK" BELOW CAR A COUPLE OF SECONDS BEFORE THE ACCELERATION. I BROUGHT CAR TO DEALER AT EARLIEST APPOINTMENT - OCT. 11. THEY SUGGESTED IT WAS THE CONTINUOUS VARIABLE TRANSMISSION. I KNEW CAR WELL ENOUGH TO KNOW WHAT I EXPERIENCED WAS NOT HOW CVT OPERATES & INSISTED ON SPEAKING TO SUPERVISORS. THEY HELPED ME OPEN AN INVESTIGATION BY SUBARU. I GAVE SUBARU WRITTEN CONSENT TO ACCESS THE CAR'S BLACK BOX. THEIR INSPECTOR (FROM BOSCH AUTOMOTIVE SERVICES) DOWNLOADED BLACK BOX & CAR'S OTHER COMPUTERS, PERFORMED A PHYSICAL INSPECTION & TEST DROVE. HE SAID IT WAS UNLIKELY TO BE CAUSED BY CVT OR THE CRUISE CONTROL, & FOUND NO DAMAGE UNDER CAR. ON 11/10/16, I GOT E-MAIL FROM SUBARU THAT NO DEFECTS WERE FOUND, NO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES WERE STORED, & "THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED." I CALLED THE SIGNER, WHO STATED THE "IMPACT OF THE ACCELERATION WAS NOT ENOUGH TO STORE." SHE REFUSED TO PROVIDE ME COPIES OF THE COMPUTER PRINTOUTS OR ANY OTHER DOCS FROM INVESTIGATION, CLAIMING THEY ARE PROPRIETARY TO SUBARU, EVEN THOUGH THE DATA, AS PART OF CAR, BELONGS TO ME! WHILE CAR WAS OUT OF SERVICE OVER 30 DAYS, LEMONLAW DIDN'T TAKE CASE AS NO DEFECT WAS FOUND. I UNDERSTAND INTERMITTENT ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL PROBLEMS DON'T LEAVE DTC CODES. DON'T KNOW IF I CAN TRUST THIS CAR, AS MALFUNCTION'S CAUSE WAS NEVER FOUND. NHTSA SHOULD ISSUE REGS ON ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL SAFETY AS OWNERS CAN'T SUE!
ON MONDAY 09/05/2016 IN GETTYSBURG, PA ON A FLAT SURFACE THE ABS WARNING LIGHT, HILL ASSISTANCE WARNING LIGHT, AND VEHICLE DYNAMICS CONTROL INDICATOR LIGHT FLASHED ON MY SCREEN. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE TO READ THE MANUAL REGARDING THE WARNINGS AS INDICATED ON THE MESSAGE I RECEIVED. WHEN I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE ALL THE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS DISAPPEARED. ON 09/07/2016 THE SAME WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES APPEARED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO WHERE WE PURCHASED IT USED AND THEY ADVISED THEY WILL CONTACT ME. I ALSO STOPPED AT THE LOCAL SUBARU DEALER AND INFORMED THEM OF MY CONCERNS. THEY ADVISED IT COULD BE THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH BUT UNSURE WITHOUT RUNNING THE DIAGNOSTICS TEST. THEY ALSO ADVISED ANOTHER CROSSTREK CAME IN WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK. SO FAR I HAVEN'T HAD ANY FURTHER ISSUES BUT I AM CONCERNED MY BRAKES MAY FAIL CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
JANUARY 1ST 2016 DRIVING BACK TO MIAMI FROM NORTH CAROLINA ON THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE AND NEAR KENDALL/MIAMI AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH THE GAS PEDAL STOPPED WORKING WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL ON, NO RED LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD, AND AFTER A FEW SECONDS THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A CONSTRUCTION AREA AT NIGHT, IN THE POURING RAIN STOCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. FORTUNATELY A PASSING BY STATE FARM ROAD ASSISTANCE TRUCK SAW ME AND CAME TO MY AID PUSHING ME TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER HOUR AND MANY ATTEMPTS THE ENGINE STARTED AND I CONTINUED DRIVING WITHOUT A PROBLEM. AUGUST 7TH 2016 DRIVING BACK TO MIAMI FROM NORTH CAROLINA ON THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE JUST SOUTH OF JUPITER FLORIDA AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN; WHILE ON THE LEFT LANE THE GAS PEDAL STOPPED WORKING, ENGINE STILL ON, NO RED LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD AND SECONDS LATER ENGINE SHUT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO CRUISE TO THE RIGHT SIDE AND AFTER DOZENS OF ATTEMPTS AND AN HOUR AND 15 MINUTES THE ENGINE STARTED AND I CONTINUED DRIVING WITHOUT A PROBLEM. BOTH INCIDENTS HAVE HAPPENED AFTER THE VEHICLES HAS BEEN DRIVING 10 PLUS HOURS. I TRAVEL TO NORTH CAROLINA BY MYSELF OFTEN AND THIS PROBLEM IS VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE BEEN VERY LUCKY SO FAR THAT NO ONE HAS REAR ENDED ME YET BUT CAN'T GUARANTEE I WILL BE SO LUCKY NEXT TIME DRIVING AMONG 18 WHEELERS AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE FL TURNPIKE AND I-75. I TOOK THE 1ST INCIDENT AS A ONETIME THING BUT OBVIOUSLY IT IS NOT; THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT SUBARU OF PEMBROKE PINES FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS BUT SO FAR THEY HAVE NOT FOUND ANYTHING WRONG.
ENGINE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHILE RUNNING. FIRST TIME THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING AND STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WHEN IT COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR OTHER WARNING LIGHTS TO INDICATE A PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE THEN IMMEDIATELY RESTARTED WITH NO ISSUE. A WEEK LATER (AFTER NUMEROUS PROBLEM FREE TRIPS), THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING 35 TO 40 MPH DOWN THE ROAD. WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE. AGAIN IT RESTARTED WITHOUT PROBLEM, BUT THE ENGINE DID NOT SPUTTER OR GIVE ANY OTHER INDICATION IT WAS ABOUT TO SHUT OFF. AGAIN, NO WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH INDICATING A PROBLEM. FOLLOWING BOTH TIMES THE ENGINE CUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING, THE NEXT TIME THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF AND THEN A RESTART WAS ATTEMPTED, THE KEYLESS IGNITION WOULD NOT WORK BUT AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE GREEN LIGHT WOULD APPEAR IN THE PUSH START BUTTON AND THE CAR WOULD START. CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR OVER 20 DAYS. THEY HAVE INDICATED THE PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES TO A MECHANIC BUT THEY CANNOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE.
BRAKES HAVING SEVERE PUSH BACK ON BRAKE PEDAL. OR SEVERE OSCILLATION IN BRAKE PEDAL WHEN PRESSED ON ICY ROADS OR SNOWY ROADS VERY HARD TO USE BRAKES BECAUSE OF SEVERE BRAKE OSCILLATION IN PEDAL VERRY UNSAFE ON ICE OR SNOW NEW CAR 10,000 MILES WE NEED A RECALL ASAP .DRIVING COMING TO A STOP
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON I-405 NORTH BOUNT WHEN THE ENGINE FALTERED . I KEPT ACCELERATEING BUT THE CAR LOST SPEED AND MADE A HI RAVING SOUND . I WAS REALLY SCARED AS THE CARS BEHIND HAD TO REDUCE SPEED FAST TO PREVENT REAR ENDING ME . I EXITED THE 405 FREEWAY ON BURBANK - I CONTUNED HOME TO NORTH HOLLYWOOD AT A VERY SLOW SPEED , UNDER 10MPH . WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON . IT WAS A FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE . THE NEXT DAY MY HUSBAND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WITH THE SAME DIFFICULTIES .
BATTERY FAILURE AT 4000 MILES
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 SUBARU XV CROSSTREK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 5 MPH TO MAKE A THREE POINT TURN, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF REVERSE. THE CONTACT CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND HE WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE OUT OF REVERSE AFTER A LOT OF MANEUVERING. THE CONTACT PROCEEDED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,287.
SUNROOF EXPLODED WHILE I WAS DRIVING 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. I HEARD A LOUD BOOM, LIKE A GUN FIRING, AND THEN GLASS FLYING EVERYWHERE. GLASS WENT IN MY EYES, ON MY HEAD, DOWN MY JACKET, ALL OVER IN THE CAR, AND ALL OVER THE ROOF. THE SUNROOF WAS "BUBBLED" OUTWARDS. THIS IS A NEW VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 450 MILES.
I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 70MPH THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS 91 THE AIR IN THE CAR WAS ON SO INSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 70 DEGREES. I HEARD A LOUD POP AND LOOKED BACK AT MY TWO KIDS IN THE BACK THEN AT MY DAUGHTER. GLASS WAS EVERYWHERE. MY SUNROOF JUST IMPLODED. NO TRUCKS WERE PASSING TO THO UP STONES NO OTHER CARS WERE CLOSE ENOUGH TO CAUSE THIS DAMAGE. THERE IS A HUGE HOLE IN THE SUNROOF MIDDLE THE SURROUNDING AREAS ARE SHATTERED AND GLASS IS IN MY SEATS AND COUNCIL AS WELL AS THE CAR FLOOR. I THANK GOD NO ONE WAS HURT GOING THAT FAST ON THE HIGHWAY! I HAVE CONTACTED MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND THEY STATE THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS AND I THEN GOOGLE IT AND SEE THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW OTHERS WHERE CHANGE IN TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE CAUSE THE GLASS TO IMPLODE. I WILL BE CONTACTING SUBARU TO FILE A CLAIM.

Combines Driver and Passenger star ratings into a single frontal rating. The frontal barrier test simulates a head-on collision between two similar vehicles, each moving at 35 mph.
