When the car is in auto engine shut off mode, when the brake is released the steering power assist message displays, the steering wheel locks up, the doors unlock and the interior and exterior lights flash. The car will start back up but it takes a second to start. The car is also starting to not start back up and completely shut off at the light. All of the lights will start flashing. This is highly dangerous as the steering wheel lock almost caused my family to get into a major car accident. The car will be taken to a dealership later this week.
The contact owns a 2017 Buick Envision. The contact stated while driving 45-50 mph, a week after purchasing the vehicle, she noticed that the headlights were significantly dim. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact a diagnostic test was needed to determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that she contacted a second dealer, Bell and Bell Buick GMC Trucks (2491 Hwy 9 E, Little River, SC 29566), and was informed that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
THE FIRST TIME (DEC 27, 2019) MY FAMILY WAS DRIVING ON REGULAR ROADS WHEN IT SUDDENLY SAID ENGINE OVERHEATING. WE PULLED OVER & LOOKED AT THE ENGINE AND COULD SEE COOLANT FLUID SQUIRTING OUT OF THE COOLANT PIPE-THERE WERE TINY HOLES IN THE METAL PIPE ALLOWING THIS LEAKAGE OF FLUID. WE WERE AWAY FROM HOME AND HAD TO WAIT SEVERAL DAYS FOR A REPLACEMENT PART TO BE ORDERED & REPAIRS TO BE DONE. ( IT COST US THOUSANDS BETWEEN THE WORK, OEM BUICK PARTS, AND EXTRA HOTEL DAYS SINCE WE WERE ON VACATION AWAY FROM HOME.) THEY REPLACED THE COOLANT PIPE. NOW AGAIN (APRIL 23, 2021), AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 2 MILES ON A REGULAR ROAD, APPROACHING THE ENTRANCE TO A HIGHWAY, THE CAR SUDDENLY SAID ENGINE OVERHEATING! I STOPPED AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. I WAITED ABOUT 25 MINUTES TILL IT COOLED. THEN I STARTED TO DRIVE AGAIN, VERY SLOWLY & WITH NO AIR CONDITIONER RUNNING. WITHIN ABOUT 3 MINUTES, THE TEMP WAS GOING UP SO I PULLED OVER AND WAITED AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED ONE MORE TIME AS I MADE IT HOME. NOW I CAN'T EVEN DRIVE IT WITHOUT IT QUICKLY SHOWING THE ENGINE OVERHEATING. A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT & NEW DEXCOOL (ORANGE) COOLANT BUT IT'S STILL OVERHEATING. I HAVE BEEN VERY CAREFUL WITH MAINTAINING MY CAR, REPLACING AND CHANGING FLUIDS IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECS. MY CAR IS ESSENTIALLY PARALYZED & I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT ANYWHERE! CERTAINLY NOT WHAT I EXPECTED FROM A LUXURY VEHICLE SUCH AS THIS POOR QUALITY!! PLEASE NOTE, I HAVE TO FIND MY POETICAL RECEIPTS BUT PROVIDING THE MOST RECENT RECEIPT. ORIGINAL ISSUE MILEAGE WAS ABOUT 58,000
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 BUICK ENVISION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE IN HIS HOME WITH THE KEYFOB IN HIS POCKET, HIS DOG KEPT BARKING. THE CONTACT WENT TO THE BACK DOOR TO CHECK ON THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN RUNNING. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. THE CONTACT THEN CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS REFERRED TO THE LOCAL AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HE HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE CONTACT DECLINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
ALMOST CRASHED MY VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY. WHEN TO TAP MY BRAKES AND BRAKE ASSIST CAME ON THEN MY BRAKES COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. EVEN WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PUSH MY BRAKE PEDAL DOWN IT WAS HARD AS A ROCK BARELY MADE IT INTO THE SHOULDER WITH MY HAZARDS ON. ATTEMPTED TO PUMP THE PEDAL NOTHING - SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR 5 MINUTES TO RESTART STILL NO BRAKES OR ABILITY TO STOP VEHICLE. SCARIEST THING TO HAPPEN. HAVE TO GET VEHICLE TOWED
TWICE IN THE LAST MONTH, I HAVE BEEN DRIVING IN MOTION LESS THAN 5 MPH, AND THE CAR ACCELERATED BY ITSELF. I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES TO STOP IT. THE TIRES SCREECHED. VERY SCARY AS IT ACCELERATED FAST, LURCHING FORWARD. BOTH TIMES IN A CAT LOT.
MY REAR AC UNIT BLOWS HOT AIR NO MATTER WHAT TEMP I CHOOSE OR MODE THAT IS SELECTED. THIS ISSUE WAS FOUND A COUPLE OF DAYS OF PURCHASE IN JANUARY.
BRAKES FAILED. BRAKE FLUID LEAK OUT OF A SPLIT BRAKE LINE. I WAS DRIVING CAR FOR MULTIPLE STOPS. NO PROBLEMS. CAME TO A STOP LIGHT PUSH DOWN ON BRAKE. FOUND PRESSURE AND THEN IT RELEASE AND THE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. ADDED BRAKE FLUID. IT IMMEDIATELY LEAKED OUT. INVESTIGATION FOUND A SPLIT IN THE BRAKE LINE.
WAS GOING DOWN MY DRIVEWAY (WHICH IS ON A STEEP HILL) AND BRAKES TOTALLY GAVE OUT. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS ON THE ROAD AND I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLES TO A MECHANIC. MECHANIC FOUND A SMALL PIN HOLE IN RIGHT FRONT BRAKE HOSE WHICH HE FOUND UNUSUAL. ALL BRAKE FLUID LEADED OUT. NEAR THE HOLE WAS A SPRING THAT WRAPS AROUND THE RUBBER BRAKE LINE. IT WAS PRETTY OBVIOUS THE PLACEMENT OF THE SPRING CAUSED THE DAMAGE. THE BRAKE LINE DEVELOPED A HOLE IN IT WHERE THE END OF SPRING TOUCHES RUBBER BRAKE LINE. THE NIGH BEFORE I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DEVASTATING.
ON AT LEAST 5 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS AND INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM HAVE WENT COMPLETELY BLACK THIS IS AT VARYING SPEEDS FROM 25 MILES TO 60 MILES AND EVEN SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT THIS HAS HAPPENED. WHEN IT DOES HAPPEN ITS ONLY FOR COUPLE SECONDS. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPEN TWICE WHILE MY TEENAGE SON WAS DRIVING AND SCARED HIM QUITE A BIT. MOST RECENTLY WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT I LET MY FOOT OF THE BRAKE AND PUSH GAS I GET A MESSAGE SAYING PARK BRAKE RELEASED THE DOORS UNLOCK THEN LOCK. I TRY TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL BUT ITS HARD LIKE IT'S LOCKED I THEN GET MESSAGE SAYING POWER STEERING HAS BEEN REDUCED DRIVE CAREFULLY. THEN A FOLLOWING MESSAGE SAYING ALL WHEEL DRIVE HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 7 OR 8 TIMES RANDOMLY AFTER COMING TO A STOP FOR A RED LIGHT IN WHICH LIGHT TURNS GREEN I TRY TO PROCEED THAN ALL THIS MESSAGES AND WHEEL TIGHTENS AND CAR FEELS LIKE IT STALLS FOR A SECOND.
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND INCREASING SPEED, THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT WANT TO SHIFT. THE RPM'S WILL LITERALLY REDLINE, IF I DO NOT LIFT MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS QUICKLY, AND REPLACE IT BACK ON THE GAS - THIS REMINDS ME OF A MANUAL SHIFT, BUT THIS IS NOT A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THE HESITATION IN SHIFTING GEARS HAS GOTTEN SO EXTREME THAT I WILL START TO SMELL A BURNING SMELL IF I DO NOT MANUALLY SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION VIA THE GAS PEDAL. THE CAR ONLY HAS 33,000 MILES, SO I'M SURE THAT THIS IS NOT JUST THE RESULT OF AN OLDER TRANSMISSION. THIS HAPPENS NEARLY EVERYTIME I ACCELERATE MY VEHICLE.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT 60,000 MILES. CAR IS A 2017, 3 YEARS OLD. DIAGNOSTIC CODE SHOWS THE ALTERNATOR IS NO GOOD. CAR JUST SURPASSED WARRANTY. GM COULD NOT PROVIDE A REASON FOR THE ALTERNATOR GOING BAD ON SUCH A NEW VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATES AND HIGHWAYS, THE VEHICLE'S DASHBOARD COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN. THE RADIO, METERS, DASH DISPLAY, ETC. ALL GO DARK AND TURN OFF FOR A SPAN OF 5-20 SECONDS. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE COUPLE YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. THE VEHICLE IS ALWAYS GOING AT LEAST 60 MPH AND, WHILE IT DOESN'T TURN THE ENGINE OFF, IT DOES TURN THE AIR OFF AND, OVERALL, CAUSES A HUGE DISTRACTION FOR THE DRIVER.
THE INFOTAINMENT CENTER GOES BLANK AND AT TIMES CANT SHUT THE RADIO OFF. RESTARTED CAR, OPENING DOORS AND PRESSING BUTTONS DOESN'T SHUT RADIO OFF. CAR IS AT DEALER FOR 7TH TIME. SHOWN DEALER VIDEOS AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIGURE OUT SOURCE.
CRUISE CONTROL SELF ENGAGED WHILE GOING 65 MPH. HANDS WERE NOT ANYWHERE NEAR CRUISE CONTROL BUTTON. IT WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A THUNDERSTORM LUCKILY DIDN'T CAUSE ACCIDENT
ENTIRE DASH CLUSTER HAS GONE OUT. SCREEN COMPLETELY BLACK. INCLUDING AFTER UPDATE IN JUNE 2019. CAR WAS IN MOTION, HAPPENS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. ALMOST CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. DEALER UNABLE TO SOURCE ISSUE AFTER 3 VISITS TO DATE IN 2019. GM TECHNICIANS UNABLE TO SOLVE ISSUE. GM AND DEALER DOES NOT BELIEVE THIS TO BE SAFETY IS AND KEEPS ALLOWING CAR TO BE RETURNED TO SERVICE.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT FULL SPEED WHEN THE CAR ABRUPTLY SHUT OFF. I HAD NO POWER AND ALL DASH LIGHTS WENT BLACK. IT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING. I DON'T KNOW HOW BUT I MANAGED TO GET IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR OVER A WEEK AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT FOUND THE CAUSE. I HOPE THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE.

TRANSWEST CHEVROLET BUICK (1200 W MAIN ST, STERLING, CO 80751, (970) 522-2700) INDICATED THAT THERE WAS AN INTERNAL EPS FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER DUE TO THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZING. IN ADDITION, DUTTON MOTOR COMPANY (8201 AUTO DR, RIVERSIDE, CA 92504, (951) 687-2020) ALSO DIAGNOSED THAT THE EPS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO BE DRIVEN AND REMAINED PARKED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
"AUTO STOP" FUNCTION WOULD NOT RESTART IN TRAFFIC - STOPPED AT SIGNAL LIGHT; HAD TO PUSH VEHICLE INTO A PARKING LOT. WOULDN'T RESTART FOR OVER 20 MINUTES. TWO ADDITIONAL ELECTRICAL ISSUES (WE BELIEVE ARE RELEATED) PREVIOUSLY THAT HAVE NOT BEEN FIXED.
REAR TAILGATE REQUIRES MANUAL OPERATION TO OPEN, CLOSE, AND LOCK. THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC LIFT GATE CONTROLS ON THE DRIVER DOOR AND ALSO BY SWIPING FOOT UNDER REAR BUMPER. I HAVE DOCUMENTED FOUR TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH THAT THE TAILGATE WILL NOT OPERATE PROPERLY. EACH TIME HOWEVER THAT I BRING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE TAILGATE WORKS PROPERLY. THE MECHANIC SAID IT IS PROBABLY THE ACTUATOR, BUT UNTIL I CAN BRING IT TO THEM WHEN IT'S NOT WORKING THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THERE WAS ONE INSTANCE WERE THE TAILGATE WOULDN'T LOCK EVEN WHEN MANUALLY OPERATED. I HAD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE TAILGATE UNLOCKED AND OPENING WHEN I SLOWED DOWN. THE DEALER SALES PERSONNEL DID A TEMPORARY ADJUSTMENT BY TURNING THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF AND ADJUSTING THE SELECTION KNOB ON THE DRIVER DOOR. YOUR HELP HERE IS APPRECIATED. THE DEALERSHIP IS BEING VERY HELPFUL, BUT CAN ONLY FIX SOMETHING WHEN THEY VERIFY THAT THE ITEM NEEDS REPAIR.

COMPUTER SCREEN DISPLAY FREQUENTLY GOES VERY DIM AND SOMETIMES COMPLETELY OUT SEVERAL TIMES THERE HAS BEEN NO DISPLAY SHOWING WHEN WE WERE BACKING UP PLUS THE WARNING BEEPER DIDN'T COME ON. WE HAVE HAD 2 MINOR ACCIDENTS WHEN WE WERE BACKING UP BECAUSE OF THE FAILURE OF THE COMPUTER SCREEN AND WARNING BEEPER. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO OUR DEALERSHIP HOLM AUTOMOTIVE IN ABILENE , KS FOR AT LEAST 2 YEARS AND THEY DO NOT SEEM TO THINK IT IS A PROBLEM. I HAVE MANY PHOTOS AND VIDEOS PLUS A HANDWRITTEN LOG OF THIS ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO BEEN IN CONTACT WITH BUICK.
WHEN VEHICLE DOES AUTOMATIC SOFTWARE UPDATES FROM GM, IT "BLOWS UP" THE PERSONALIZATION MENU. I AM IN PHYSICAL THERAPY NOW FROM CAR SEAT THAT AUTOMATICALLY WENT TO POSITION 1 WHEN I OPENED CAR DOOR. EASY EXIT HAD BEEN TURNED ON BY UPDATE. I HAD IT TURNED OFF BECAUSE IT NEVER WORKED RIGHT WITH MEMORY SEATS. NOW AFTER ANOTHER UPDATE AND MENU WAS SKEWED AGAIN. EASY EXIT TURNED BACK ON AS WELL AS SEAT HEATERS ON START UP. BOTH HAD BEEN TURNED OFF IN MENU.
CAR HAS ELECTRONIC CHILD SAFETY DOOR LOCKS ACTIVATED WHEN USING THE HARD BUTTON THAT TYPICALLY LOCKS ONLY WINDOWS. WIFE TOOK A NAP IN BACK SEAT ON LUNCH BREAK AT WORK, DIDN'T REALIZE WINDOW LOCK BUTTON WAS ACCIDENTALLY ENGAGED, LOCKED WITH REMOTE FROM BACK SEAT WHILE CAR WAS RUNNING. DOOR REMOTE WOULD NOT ALLOW THE BACK DOORS AND PASSENGER DOOR TO REMAIN LOCKED AND DOOR HANDLES WOULD NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE EVEN WHEN USING THE REMOTE. SHE WAS TRAPPED IN THE BACK. WITH A VERY BAD BACK AND KNEE IT WAS NOT EASY TO CLIMB TO FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR TO UNLOCK FROM THERE, THE ONLY PLACE THIS WOULD WORK. IF LOCKING WITH THE REMOTE, UNLOCKING WITH REMOTE SHOULD BE POSSIBLE AND WAS NOT. LITERALLY TRAPPED IN BACK SEAT AND ONLY WAY OUT IS TO GET TO THE FRONT SEAT TO UNLOCK FROM THERE. WHAT IF GRANDMA WAS BACK THERE WHEN SOMETHING HAPPENED LIKE CAR SHUT OFF? VERY BAD SITUATION AND A LIFE SAFETY ISSUE. I'VE NEVER OWNED A CAR THAT HAD ELECTRONIC CHILD LOCKS TIED TO WINDOW LOCK SWITCH. SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE TRAPPED IN CAR. *TR
DASH LIGHTS GO OUT WHEN YOU ARE IN A SHADY AREA. STAY OUT WAY TO LONG. NO WAY TO ADJUST TO MAKE THEM BRIGHT. COLLISION ALERT GOES OFF WHEN YOU ARE NOT NEAR HITTING ANYTHING. CLOCK WENT FROM EST TO WEST COAST TIME. CAR MAKES A KNOCKING SOUND IN THE REAR END. ALSO MAKES A SCRAPPING SOUND. DOESN'T MATTER IF YOUR GOING UP HILL, DOWNHILL, LEFT OR RIGHT. NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL DO IT. ALWAYS WHEN THE SPEED IS BETWEEN 45 & 55 MPH. THIS IS THE SECOND BUICK ENVISION THAT WAS REPURCHASED. SAME ISSUE WITH THE FIRST ONE. WORKED ON MANY TIMES BY GARAGE & EVEN A REP SENT FROM BUICK. THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE FIXED. THIS WAS 18 MONTHS OF ISSUES TO GET A RESOLUTION. HAPPY THAT I HAVE A CHEVY EQUINOX NOW.
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM, OR 'TPMS' NOTIFIED ME OF A FLAT TIRE. IT SHOWED LOSS OF TIRE PRESSURE IN THE REAR PASSENGER RIRE, HOWEVER, THE DRIVER REAR TIRE WAS THE ONE THAT WAS FLAT.

DEALER CONTACTED BUICK FOR ADVICE SINCE THEY WERE UNSURE WHAT WAS CAUSING THE VIBRATION, TOLD TO REPLACE FRONT AXIL BUT WAS NO BETTER. CONTINUED TO REQUEST REPAIR BUT DEALERSHIP AND BUICK, STATED CAUSE OF PROBLEM UNKOWN AND NO FIX IS IN DEVELOPMENT. TOLD IT WAS A "CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE": THE VIBRATION-SHIMMY IS GETTING WORSE AND I AM FEARFUL OF A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF WHATEVER PART/PARTS ARE FAULTY. FAULTY PARTS OR DESIGN COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEED OR WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION AT ANY SPEED. TAKATA RECALL IF THE CAR IS ALREADY RUNNING, IT WILL ALLOW YOU TO SWITCH OUT OF PARK AND INTO GEAR WITHOUT THE KEY FOB INSIDE THE CAR.
CAR MAKES A SCRAPPING SOUND. SPENT 32 DAYS, THEN 22 DAYS AT THE GARAGE. AT THE 32 DAYS TORQUE TUBE TO DRIVE SHAFT CHANGED. NOISE CAME BACK. AT 22 DAYS BUICK SENT A FIELD REP. TO WORK ON ENVISION. INVOICE SAID THEY LOOSENED & RETORQUE THE FRAME THAT ATTACHES THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL TO THE UNIT BODY OF THE CAR. WITH MY CASE BUICK CALLED & TOLD ME THE GARAGE CHANGED A CARRIER BEARING. ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THIS SUV IS THE DASH LIGHTS. IT'S SUNNY OUT & YOU GET IN A SHADED AREA & THEY GO OUT. DASH IS SO DIM SOMETIMES YOU CAN'T SEE YOUR SPEED OR YOUR GAGES PLUS RADIO. THERE IS A WHEEL TO BRIGHTEN OR DIM THE LIGHTS. YOU ROLL THE WHEEL UP TO HAVE A BRIGHT SETTING & IT ROLLS BACK, LIKE IT'S SPRING LOADED. JULY 14, 2017 WAS THE FIRST TRIP OF MANY TO THE GARAGE. THE NOISE IS SPORADIC. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU ARE GOING UPHILL, DOWN HILL, LEFT OR RIGHT. THE GARAGE KNOW HOW TO MAKE THE NOISE. THEY DRIVE 50 -55 MPH & DROP THE CAR IN LOW. THIS PUTS THE CAR IN 6TH GEAR. WE DON'T DO THAT. IT MAKES THE NOISE. WAS SHOCKED THAT THEY FIGURED OUR HOW TO MAKE THE SCRAPPING SOUND.

THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER AND INTEGRATED CENTER STACK DISPLAY DETAILS ARE NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH AND DIFFICULT TO SEE DURING THE DAY.
THE HEADLIGHTS ON THIS VEHICLE ARE MOSTLY INADEQUATE. THEY FAIL TO PROVIDE DECENT LIGHTING BEYOND A SHORT DISTANCE IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE FOG LIGHTS IMPROVE THE SITUATION, BUT WHEN USING HIGH BEAMS YOU'D HAVE BETTER LUCK SEEING AHEAD BY PUTTING A FLASHLIGHT OUT THE WINDOW. MY 2017 ENCORE WITH THE PAN REFLECTIVE HALOGEN LIGHTS ARE MUCH MORE EFFECTIVE THAN THESE MORE EXPENSIVE "TERMINATOR" STYLE HEADLIGHTS. (THE LIGHTS LOOK LIKE TERMINATOR EYES). THIS PRESENTS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE YOU CANNOT SEE FAR ENOUGH IN FRONT OF YOU TO SEE WHAT IS AHEAD - AND HIGH BEAMS ARE WORSE THAN LOW BEAMS WITH FOG LIGHTS.
THE INTERIOR LIGHTING FOR THE DASH/RADIO/BACKUP CAMERA/NAV SCREEN ARE ALL DIMMED PREMATURELY IN THE EVENING. YOU'LL ENTER A SHADY AREA AND WHILE STILL VERY BRIGHT OUTSIDE, THE SCREEN DIMS AND ALL OF THE DASH LIGHTS DIM TO THE POINT OF BEING UNUSABLE - ALMOST NON-EXISTENT. SAFETY ISSUE ON BACKUP CAMERA, OR IF TRYING TO VIEW NAV SCREEN AND NEXT TURNS, YOU ARE DRIVING BLIND BECAUSE THE SCREEN IS TOO DARK TO SEE ANYTHING. DEALER CLAIMED TO HAVE BRIGHTENED THE SCREEN, BUT THAT SIMPLY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING. PROBLEM STILL APPARENT. PROBLEM IS THAT THE DIMMING SENSOR IS TOO QUICK TO SWITCH TO NIGHT MODE, AND NIGHT MODE IS OKAY IF IT IS DARK OUTSIDE, IT IS TOO DIM WHEN IT IS ANYTHING BUT COMPLETELY DARK. AND SADLY, THE SENSOR DOESN'T SEEM TO KNOW THIS.
THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE EXHAUST SYSTEM OR MAYBE NOT, WITH A HORRENDOUS GROANING RATTLE THAT OCCURS WITHIN SPECIFIC PARAMETERS. AT ABOUT 45-50MPH, IF CRUISING WITH ALMOST NO ACCELERATION, WHEN YOU DO ACCELERATE, YOU GET AN AWFUL RATTLE THAT SOUNDS AS THOUGH IT IS COMING FROM THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. IT IS STARTLING AND IN OF ITSELF DOESN'T SEEM TO BE A SAFETY ITEM EXCEPT IT STARTLES YOU. DEALER INDICATED WHEN BROUGHT IN THAT ROAD SALT, SMALL STONES, ETC. HAD SETTLED ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK AND CAUSED THIS GOD AWFUL SOUND. THEY SAID THEY BLEW IT OUT AND THE PROBLEM DID APPEAR TO BE FIXED - EXCEPT IT TOOK ONLY A WEEK FOR IT TO RETURN. IF WHAT THE DEALER SAID WAS TRUE, THERE IS A GAP BETWEEN THE FUEL TANK AND BODY THAT ALLOWS NORMAL ROAD DEBRIS (SALT, PEBBLES, ETC.) SETTLE UP THERE AND CAUSE THIS CONDITION TO OCCUR. NOT A SAFETY ISSUE EXCEPT IT IS DISTRACTING AND STARTLING WHEN IT OCCURS. COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF OTHER THINGS GET UP THERE, LIKE A RAG OR CLOTH, AND IT RIDES AGAINST THE EXHAUST SYSTEM, WHILE LODGED ABOVE THE FUEL TANK, AND CATCHES FIRE. THAT AS NOT HAPPENED, BUT IMAGINE IT IS POSSIBLE GIVEN THE CIRCUMSTANCES.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE. ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE WAS NOT OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20.

WE DO NOT DRIVE AT NIGHT UNLESS WE KNOW THE ROAD WELL. THE HEADLIGHTS SHOULD BE RECALLED BECAUSE THEY WILL CAUSE ACCIDENTS AND THERE WILL BE LAWSUITS.
