Summary

Goodyear Fortera HL tires for my 2017 Chevrolet Traverse LT / Tire Size: P255/65R18 started showing considerable wear at 25K miles. Cracking side walls. Not griping road even with the smallest amount of moisture on the road. (California) Causing the SUV to slide out of control at 20 miles an hour. At 34k and less then 3 years old the tires had to be replaced.

2017 Chevy Traverse is having shifting issues. It appears to be the torque converter or something to do with the transmission. 70K miles & has shifting issues in all gears even after a GM dealership transmission flush. While merging on the freeway I pressed the gas to speed up & the RPM went up high, but the traverse did not speed up...I was able to avoid a very bad accident.

THE VEHICLE IS NOW AT THE DEALER FOR A 3RD TIME AND THE SERVICE SHOP "CANNOT DUPLICATE CUSTOMER CONCERNS". THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AS THE CAR IS IN MOTION, IN TRAFFIC AND SUDDENLY DOES NOT ACCELERATE.

ON 4/29/20 THE LOW TIRE LIGHT CAME ON AND I DISCOVERED A SCREW WAS IN THE TIRE. I WENT TO DISCOUNT TIRE TO HAVE IT FIXED AND THE GUY THERE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER WAS CRACKING AND SPLITTING FROM THE RIM. HE SAID THOSE SPECIFIC GOODYEAR TIRES ARE TO BE GOOD FOR 65,000 MILES. THE CHEVY TRAVERSE ONLY HAS 36,120 MILES ON IT, 9,000 MORE THAN WHEN WE PURCHASED IT. I NOW HAVE TO PURCHASE FOUR NEW TIRES BECAUSE THE CURRENT ONES ARE BEGINNING TO SPIT AND CRACK WHICH COULD LEAD TO A BLOW OUT. WITH ALL THAT BEING THE CASE I DID RESEARCH ON MY VEHICLES ISSUES TO FIND MANY WEBSITES AND FORUMS OF COUNTLESS PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH GM VEHICLES UP TO 8 YEARS OLDER THAN MINE ANY MANY VEHICLES OF THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL. I'VE ALSO HAD A CLOSE CALL GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT WHILE MAKING A U-TURN DUE TO THE STEERING BEING NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN TODAY. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE. I WAS TRY TO TURN LEFT INTO A PARKING DRIVE WAY WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND CARS BEHIND ME. LUCKILY THEY STOPPED. I COULDNT MAKE THE TURN AT ONCE. THE WHEEL WAS TOO TIGHT AND I DIDNT HAVE THE STRENGTH TO TURN THE WHEEL ENOUGH TO THE LEFT TO COMPLETE THE TURN. I HAD TO GO BACK AND TRY AGAIN. I HIT THE SIDEWALK CURB. AND TO GO BACK AND FORTH TO GET THE CAR IN A POSITION ENOUGH TO TURN INTO THE DRIVE. I HAD A CAR SHOP CHECK TO POWER STEERING FLUIS AND THERE WAS ENOUGH. THEY ADVISED I COME BACK BECAUSE THEY WERE GOING TO CLOSE SO THEY COULD CHECK FURTHER UNDER THE VEHICLE.

I HAVE A 2017 TRAVERSE, BOUGHT IT WITH JUST A FEW THOUSAND MILES ON IT BACK IN 2017. I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS THE DAY AFTER I BOUGHT IT. THE CAR WOULD DIE ALMOST EVERY DAY. FINALLY GOT THAT ISSUE FIXED. A FEW MONTHS LATER THE WASHER FLUID STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND THEY SAID IT HAD A HOLE IN IT. I HAD IT REPLACED. A FEW MONTHS LATER MY ENGINE STARTS MAKING A REALLY LOUD NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING AND MY STEERING WHEEL WOULD GET SO TIGHT WHEN I TURNED IT, THAT I COULDN'T TURN. I TOOK IT TO BE LOOKED AT AND WAS TOLD IT HAD A HOLE IN THE STEERING PUMP AND A PIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE PUMP. I HAD THAT REPLACED. A FEW WEEKS LATER I'M GETTING GAS AND TRY TO START MY CAR AND IT STALLS. I TRY TO START IT AGAIN AND IT STARTS, BUT IT ACTS LIKE IT WANTS TO DIE. THE FUEL GAUGE NEEDLE STAYS ON E, EVEN THOUGH I JUST FILLED MY TANK UP. THIS SAME ISSUE HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES NOW AFTER GETTING GAS. MY STEERING HAS STARTING MAKING A SQUEAKING NOISE WHEN I TURN IT. MY ENGINE IS SO LOUD WHEN I'M DRIVING, IT'S DEFINITELY NOT A NORMAL SOUND. THE CAR IS ALL WHEEL DRIVE. WE HAD IT AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR A GOOD MONTH, THEY REPLACED REAR END AND CLUTCH PARTS ON THE TRANSFER AREA AND OTHER THINGS. IT COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT! I WENT TO ADVANCE AUTO CAUSE I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS MY BATTERY, EVEN THOUGH ITS A BRAND NEW CAR. NO. IT WASN'T THEY TESTED IT AND EVERYTHING. SO I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOOK IT IN FOR A DAY TO THEN TELL ME THAT IT IS SHOWING BATTERY CODES. I HAD JUST CHECKED THE BATTERY THE DAY BEFORE! SO I KNEW IT WASN'T THAT, BUT THEY WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. SO TO PLAY IT SAFE, I BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY. WITH NO POWER STEERING AND BRAKES THAT ARE STIFF, I SOMEHOW WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY FORCE THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE AND GET IT TO STOP. I TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START. I PUT IT IN PARK AND SAT THERE FOR A FEW MINUTES BEFORE TRYING AGAIN. ONCE I TRIED, THE VEHICLE STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE MORNING AFTER THIS INCIDENT, I STARTED UP MY TRAVERSE AND NOTICED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE IS SHOWING EMPTY, BUT THE CAR HAD A HALF OF A TANK WHEN I GOT HOME LAST NIGHT.
