This is the second vehicle which has the same problem, NO HEAT, we check the anti-freeze and it is just fine. All the internal heat controls are working just fine. The vehicle does not overheat and works just fine.
Driving in cold weather...the car just completely had no power when pressing gas pedal...seems line fuel system froze or turbo freeze.....Car then shut off with No check engine light...no warning light!! Started right back up and still had no acceleration.....very upset with this vehicle and no recalls.....Ive seen many post's with this same issue!!
The contact's wife owns a 2017 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated when attempting to make a left or right turn when the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact mentioned that as the failure progresses an abnormal noise was heard when the failure occurs. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the steering gearbox to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,600.

Multiple warning lights came on. Check engine, stabilatrak among others. Car got hard to steer and lost power. Very dangerous while driving on a highway. Pulled into a local repair shop because vehicle was unsafe to drive. They ran a diagnostic test and couldn't find anything. They said take it to a dealer. Barely Made it to the dealer. Left car. They said it was fixed. Happened again within a week. Took it back. They had the car for about 4 weeks. They fixed it. Ran fine until Sunday June 27 and did the same thing. Got it home. Had to drive very slow. It is now at the dealer again. This seems to be a problem with this vehicle as seen by researching the symptoms. The fact that it is so dangerous should make this a recall,

THE CAR WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN WITHOUT THE KEY IN CLOSE PROXIMITY. ONE INCIDENT HAPPEND AND THE KEY WAS LEFT IN A FRIENDS CAR. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR TO MY NEXT LOCATION AND ONLY NOTICED WHEN I WENT TO START THE CAR UP AGAIN. THE SECOND INCIDENT HAPPEND AFTER SOMEONE ELSE USED MY CAR. I FOUND THE KEY AT HOME AND HAD TO TAKE THE KEY TO THE CAR TO BE RETRIEVED.
I DROVE MY TRAX YESTERDAY WITH NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER, THIS MORNING I GET INTO MY VEHICLE AT HOME, START THE CAR AND WITHIN TWO MINUTES, ITS FULL OF SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD, THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE FRONT OF THE TRAX STARTS MAKING HORRIBLE NOISES AND SHAKING. I TURN THE CAR OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES, TRY TO START IT UP AGAIN AND IT WILL NOT TURN OVER. THERE ARE NO FLUIDS ON THE GROUND, NO WIRING THAT I COULD SEE UNDONE, NOT SURE ON WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I DO HAVE IT BEING TOWED TO A CERTIFIED DEALERSHIP TO GET IT LOOKED AT AND PRAYING FIXED.

THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. NEITHER A DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,200.
ON JAN, 4TH, 2021 ABOUT 9AM MY 2017 CHEVY TRAX DIED ON THE INTERSTATE. THE SERVICE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON CAR JUST QUIT . I MANAGED TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TRIED TO RESTART IT WITH NO LUCK. HAD IT TOWED TO ENGALL' S AUTO SHOP IN NEW JERSEY.AS I WAS AN HOUR AWAY FROM HOME. RENTED A CAR SO I COULD GET HOME. THE NEXT DAY ENGELS CALL SAID THE ECM IS DEAD. HAD THE TRAX TOWED TO MOTION CHEVY DELEARSHIP. THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE ECM NEEDED REPLACED. . ORDERED THE ECM 0N THE 5TH AND REPLACED ON THE7TH. THE SERVVICE GUY CALLS ME AND TELLS ME THAT THE MODULE IN THE STEERING COLUMN IS BAD AND HAVE TO CHANGE THE WHOLE COLUMN.. THE SERVICE THEN SAID THAT THE ECM WAS COVERED BY EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT THE COLUMN WOULD HAVE TO BE PAID OUT OF POCKET..$1,235.00. WHEN I CALLED CHEVY CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY SAID THAT THEY PAY $88.00 OF THE BILL...WITH ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS HOW IS THIS NOT A RECALL ISSUE????????
I OWN A 2017 CHEVY TRAX. MY AWD WARNING LIGHT CAME ON SAYING THE AWD SYSTEM WAS SHUT OFF. IT COST ME $430.00 TO REPLACE THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL BECAUSE IT WAS IN SUCH BAD SHAPE. THAT IS RIDICULOUS TO HAVE THAT HAPPEN IN ONLY 3 YEARS.

MY AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR HAD A DEFECTIVE SEAL AND THE COMPRESSOR WAS UN REPAIRABLE.THE VEHICLE HAD ONLY HAD LESS THAN 22,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER.I DIDN'T HAVE WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR THIS.THE SEAL SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED SO EARLY.MY CAR WAS UP ON A LIFT IN AUTO REPAIR SHOP WHEN THIS WAS DISCOVERED.

I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT IS A NEW CAR AND THE SQUEAL WILL GO AWAY. IT DID NOT GO AWAY. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER 5 TIMES AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME THE REAR BRAKES ARE OK. I WANT THE DEALER TO INSPECT THE REAR BREAKS AND FIX IT. ALSO I WANT THE LEFT- AND RIGHT-FRONT LOWER-CONTROL ARMS, INSPECT AND REPLACING THEM AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT A FATAL ACCIDENT. MY CAR ONLY HAS 29, 600 MILES. PURCHASED A NEW 2017 TRAX. AT THE 3 YEAR MARK OR NEAR, I HEARD A SQUEAL FROM TIME TO TIME WHILE DRIVING FORWARD. AT NO TIME DID THE BRAKE SQUEAL WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE. AT 9500 MILES ( 3YEARS)WHEN THE SQUEAK HAPPENED , NO WARNING LIGHTS OR ONSTAR INDICATED THERE WAS A BRAKE ISSUE. MONTHLY UPDATES AS TO CAR MAINTENANCE ALSO INDICATED NO ISSUES. UPON TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE, I WAS TOLD THAT MUD AND DIRT GOT INTO THE BRAKES AND THAT THE CAR NEEDED NEW BRAKES, PADS, CALIPER SLIDES, ROTORS. KNOWING THE LOW MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE AND KNOWING ALL CARS THE NORM IS USUALLY AROUND 20,000 MILES THE BRAKES ARE READY TO BE SERVICED. BUT NOT AT 9,500 MILES. ALSO HAD A PRIOR ISSUE WHERE BRAKE FLUID LEAKED OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING AT 2500 MILEAGE. I HAD TO HAVE THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOUR REPLACED AS IT WAS BROKEN . AT 2500 MILEAGE THE MASTER CYLINDER LEAKED INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED. CANT HELP BUT WONDER IF THAT RELATED TO LATER ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES REPLACED AT 9500 MILES. I WAS TOLD AT THE DEALER THAT MUD AND DIRT GOT INTO THE BRAKES AND THAT THE BRAKES WERE 'HOT" WHATEVER THAT MEANS. .HAD I KNOWN THAT IT WAS A BRAKE ISSUE BY THE INDICATOR LIGHTS AND UPDATES ON ONSTAR I WOULD HAVE CONSIDERED IT A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND TAKEN THE CAR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BUT I WAITED AS NO WARNING LIGHTS AND NO INDICATION FROM DRIVING THAT THE BRAKES WERE AN ISSUE. THE FIRST MAJOR REPAIR I HAD WITH MY VEHICLE HAPPENED SHORTLY AFTER I SERVICED IT FOR IT'S REGULAR OIL CHANGE AT THE END OF 2018. I NOTICE MY AC WAS GOING IN AND OUT AND I CHECKED MY COOLANT, THE RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. WHEN I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THEY DISCOVERED A LEAK UNDER NEATH THE TURBO. IN 2019 A VALVE WAS REPLACED THAT WAS STICKING AS "COURTESY" AT ONE OF MY OIL CHANGES. THIS YEAR MY VEHICLE STALLED OUT ON ME AT THE GAS STATION. I TURNED OFF MY VEHICLE TO PUMP GAS AND IT WOULDN'T TURN BACK OVER. WHEN I FINALLY GOT IT TO START AGAIN IT WAS JERKING VERY HARD EVEN WHILE IDLING. IT WAS DIFFICULT TO GET MY VEHICLE RUNNING AGAIN. I GOT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE PURGE VALVE AND I PAID FOR AN INDUCTION SERVICE SINCE MY VEHICLE IS SLOWLY APPROACHING 50K. AFTER A COUPLE DAYS OF HAVING MY VEHICLE BACK I NOTICED MY VEHICLE IS STILL SHIFTING VERY HARD AND IS ESPECIALLY NOTICABLE IN 30-50MPH RANGE, I DROP MY VEHICLE BACK OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP 05/02/2020. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT ON IT BUT, HEY'RE GETTING A READING THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE STABILITY.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE GOING 75 MPH MY DOORS KEEP LOCKING AND UNLOCKING AS WELL AS THE THEFT ALARM GOING OFF. THE THEFT ALARM IS GOING OFF EVERY 5 MINUTES. WE HAVE TRIED UNHOOKING THE BATTERY TO RESET BUT THIS DID NOT WORK.

ROUGHLY AT 40,000 MILES DRIVER SIDE SEAT BEGAN TO RADDLE BADLY. WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE CAR THE WHOLE SEAT LIFTED UP. I LOOKED UNDER THE SEAT AND NOTICED A LIFT MECHANISM THAT RAISED THE SEAT OR LOWERED IT WAS BROKEN OFF AND NOW IT'S JUST FLOPPING AWAY. IF I BRAKE TO HARD THE WHOLE SEAT PUSHES ME FORWARD AND WEDGES ME IN BETWEEN IT AND THE SEAT BELT.
I'VE RECEIVED TWO NOTICES FROM GM, ONCE THAT HAS AN ACTUAL RECALL. BOTH NOTICES WERE RECEIVED AFTER MY 2017 TRAX HAD BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR CHECK-UPS/REPAIRS BECAUSE OF PRESENTING SYMPTOMS OF BOTH ISSUES OF THE NOTICES/RECALL. THE FIRST BEING AN EVAPORAIVE EMISSIONS PURGE VALVE THAT MAY NOT FULLY CLOSE, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO RUN COLD, HESITATE OR STALL AT IDLE SPEEDS. I EXPERIENCED IDLING AND JERKING WHEN MY CAR WAS IN LOWER GEARS, JERKING SO BADLY, WITH RUNNING IN HIGH RPMS. I DID NOT KNOW IF I WOULD MAKE IT HOME AND HAD TO DRIVE WITH MY HAZARDS ON. THIS WAS EXPERIENCED ON SEPT. 2, 2019 (LABOR DAY) AND I HAD MY CAR TOWED FROM MY PARKING GARAGE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SEPT. 4TH, 2019. THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM OR ADDRESS IT AND WERE NOT AWARE OF THE NOTICE GM HAD SENT OUT. THEY DID FIND A TEAR IN SOME ARM ON THE VEHICLE, CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE BALL BEARING WHICH WAS REPLACED BUT UNRELATED TO WHY IT WAS THERE. LATE OCTOBER, I EXPERIENCED OTHER ISSUES WITH CLICKING ON MY BREAKING SYSTEM, WITH MY STABILITRACK AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS TURNING ON, BUT THEN OFF WHEN I WENT IN REVERSE. AT THIS TIME, I KNEW ABOUT THE RECALL (# A192261870) AND BROUGHT MY CAR BACK IN ON NOV. 1, 2019. AGAIN THEY COULDN'T "REPLICATE" THE ISSUE, BUT INSPECTED THE CAR WITH REGARDS TO THE RECALL AND RETURNED IT WITH NO IMMEDIATE RESOLUTION. THEY ORDERED A SPEED-CONTROL PART AND ALL THE RECALL PARTS. IT'S NOW DECEMBER 4 AND THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE THE REPLACEMENT CONTROL ARMS & THE BOLTS THAT GO WITH THEM (PAGE CHEVROLET SERVICE DEPT; ALEXANDRIA, VA 22312; 703-349-4011. MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO HAVE BRAKING/IDLING/SPUDERING ISSUES ON OCCASION, IT IS NOT CONSTANT. I HAVE HAD TO CALL REGULARLY TO GET UPDATES, AND HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CALL CHEVROLET'S CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER TO OPEN AN INQUIRY BUT AM GETTING THE RUN AROUND OF ROVER A MONTH. I DO NOT CONSIDER THIS TIMELY.
I HAVE A 2017 CHEVY TRAX WITH A 1.4L TURBO. I HAVE AROUND 82,000 MILES ON IT. LAST WEEK IT STARTED RUNNING ROUGH SO I CHECKED THE OIL AND THERE WAS NONE. AND THEN REALIZED THE INTAKE GASKET WAS COMPLETELY SHOT. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND THAT CYLINDER 3 RING WAS SHOT. THAT BEING SAID THEY WANTED 2500 FOR A REBUILD AND WHEN I ASKED IF I WOULD GET SOME ASSISTANCE FROM GM IT CAME DOWN TO I WASN'T A LOYAL CUSTOMER THEY WEREN'T GOING TO HELP. JUST BECAUSE ALL SERVICE WASN'T DONE THERE. AND NOW I HAVE A CAR WITH A BAD MOTOR AT 82K MILES. TO ME THAT SEEMS LIKE A A DEFECTIVE RING FROM WHEN THE MOTOR WAS BUILT. THEY SAY NO OF COURSE. I'M VERY IN SATISFIED AND IN AWE ON THIS SITUATION. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM CHEVY AGAIN.

THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED DESTROYED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 929039. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V652000 (SUSPENSION). THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE RECALL WAS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET, NORMAL SPEED AND THE CAR WAS STALLING ( LIKE A PUTT PUTT). I TOOK THE CAR IN TO CHEVY, THEY HAD IT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND STATED THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. DO TO, LOWER CONTROL ARM WELD BEING DEFECTIVE, NOTICED THAT UNEVEN WEAR OF BOTH FRIEND TIRES NOTICED. THE CONTROL ARM WAS REPLACED ON 9/19/2019. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WEAR OF THE TIRES. NEED NEW TIRES. I MENTIONED THE WEAR TO THE ADVISER AND I WAS TOLD TO CONTACT THE COMPANY.
ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, I WENT TO MY CHEVROLET STORE AND TOLD THEM ABOUT HOW MY GAS GAUGE WAS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. I WOULD FILL MY TRAX UP, AND INSTEAD OF IT MOVING TO FULL, THE GAUGE STAYED AT 1/2 TANK. I NEVER KNEW WHAT THE CORRECT LEVEL OF GAS WAS IN MY VEHICLE. I EVEN TOOK PICTURES OF THE LEVELS BEFORE AND AFTER THE FILL UP, BUT THEY LAUGHED IT OFF, 3 TIMES AND SAID THERE WERE NOT ANY CODES COMING UP, SO IT WAS OKAY. THE 4TH TIME I WENT, ANOTHER COMPANY BOUGHT OUT THE PRIOR OWNER AND SAID HE HAD TO REPLACE THE MODULE. IT HAD WORKED FOR A FEW MONTHS BUT IT IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. A 2017-2019 CHEVROLET TRAX RECALL WAS ISSUED THAT WILL REPAIR PROBLEMS WITH JOINTS IN THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS THAT MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY WELDED, CAUSING THE CONTROL ARMS TO SEPARATE FROM THE SUVS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. THE RECALL WAS ISSUED IN APRIL SO I HAVE NOW BEEN WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR OVER FOUR MONTHS. I STARTED THE CAR ON TUESDAY 6-18 TO GO TO WORK AND AS SOON AS I STARTED IT, THERE WAS A MESSAGE ON THE DASHBOARD SAYING TO SERVICE POWER STEERING AND THE ERROR LIGHT WAS ON. I WENT AHEAD AND DROVE TO WORK (ONLY 1 MILE AWAY) AND IT TOOK ALL THAT I HAD TO STEER IT. FIRST CHANCE THAT I GOT, I CALLED THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP AND HAD IT TOWED THERE, AT CHEVY'S EXPENSE BECAUSE THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. WHEN THEY FINALLY HAD TIME TO LOOK AT IT, THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS AN INTERNAL ERROR IN THE POWER STEERING MODULE, THEY HAVE TO REPLACE IT, ACCORDING TO LAW OR THEIR GUIDELINES. I'VE CHECKED SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE PART ANYWHERE, NO DEALERSHIPS OR ANYPLACE ELSE. HERE IT IS OVER A WEEK LATER AND THEY STILL CAN'T FIND ANYTHING. THEY DID GIVE ME A LOANER, BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS. THEY CAN'T EVEN TELL ME HOW LONG IT MAY BE.
I WAS SITTING IN THE VEHICLE PARKED WAITING FOR THE RAIN TO PASS. FRONT WINDOW WAS CRACKED. WHEN I HEARD A LOUD BANG. TURNED AROUND THE BACK WINDOW ON THE DRIVER SIDE HAD SHATTERED. IN A 6 MONTH SPAN, THIS HAS HAPPENED 3X. THE 3RD TIME WAS ON A STRETCH OF ROAD WHERE I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 45 MPH COMING UP ON A CAR IN THE LEFT-HAND LANE (ON A 2 LANE STREET) MAKING A LEFT-HAND TURN. NEEDED TO SWITCH LANES TO GO AROUND. INCREASED SPEED, CAR HESITATED, REVVED, LURCHED, AND NEVER REALLY SWITCHED GEARS. SOMEHOW MADE IT WITHOUT GETTING REAR-ENDED. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP SAID COMPUTER IN CAR DIDN'T REGISTER ANY OF THOSE INCIDENTS, SO IN ESSENCE THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I FEEL LIKE I'M DRIVING A TICKING TIME BOMB. WAITING FOR IT TO JUST STOP OR DECELERATE WHILE ENTERING THE HIGHWAY AND GET ME KILLED. HOPING THAT MY CHILDREN AREN'T IN THE CAR SHOULD THAT EVER HAPPEN.

I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TWICE WITH MY VEHICLE AND I NOTIFIED THE DEALER OF THIS AND NOTHING WAS DONE. TWICE NOW I HAVE BEEN DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY GOING AT A SPEED NO MORE THAN 60 BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AND HAD THE RPM SHOOT UP TO 8 AND THE MPH SHOOT DOWN TO ALMOST ZERO. I DO A SLIGHT ACCELERATION AND THE CAR COMES ALMOST TO A COMPLETE STOP LIKE THE ENGINE CUT OUT. THE FIRST TIME I DIDN'T REALLY WORRY ABOUT IT BUT IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW AND COULD CAUSE A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. FIRST PROBLEM WITH MY TRAX 2017 WAS WHEN MY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL KID PULLED THE SEAT BELT TO SNAP HER BOOSTER SEAT AND IT NEVER ROLLED BACK. STAYS STRETCHED AND DOESN'T RETRACT. I THOUGHT IT WAS NOT A BIG DEAL AND MOVED HER ON THE OTHER SIDE. YESTERDAY I GOT THE ENGINE LIGHT ON AND MY CAR JUST SLOWED DOWN FOR NO REASON. CURRENTLY MY TIRE PRESSURE ON MY DASHBOARD IS REPORTING THAT THE PSI ON MY RIGHT REAR TIRE IS 19 PSI. HOWEVER WHEN I PUT AN AIR GAGE TO THE TIRE ITS READING 34 OR 35 PSI. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A TIRE SHOP SO THAT THEY CAN PUT MORE AIR AND THEY ALSO STATE THE PRESSURE IS FINE.

AFTER WAITING FOR TOW AND ENGINE OFF, ALL ERROR CODES CLEARED. DRIVEN TO DEALER AND CURRENTLY IN SERVICE. VEHICLE FAIRLY NEW AND REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY. PROBLEM UNCERTAIN BUT TECHNICIAN POINTED TO A GROUNDING PROBLEM. ERROR LIGHTS DURING INCIDENT: POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT (STEADY ON), TCS/STABILITRAK WARNING LIGHT (STEADY ON) AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (STEADY ON). I WENT OUT TO MY GARAGE ON JULY 31, GOT INTO MY VEHICLE AND SHUT MY DRIVER'S DOOR AT WHICH TIME THE WINDOW GLASS BEHIND ME SHATTERED INTO A THOUSAND PIECES. GLASS WENT EVERYWHERE, INSIDE AND OUT. THEY DESIGNED A PRESSURE VALVE UNDERNEATH THE REAR BUMPER FASCIA WITH A HOLE LARGE ENOUGH FOR RODENTS AND SMALL ANIMALS TO HAVE ACCESS TO THE CABIN OF THE CAR WITHOUT DESTROYING ANY PART OF THE CAR TO GAIN ACCESS. IT IS ESSENTIALLY AN OPEN DOOR FOR SQUIRRELS, MICE, RATS TO USE THEN NEST IN THE CAR UNBEKNOWNST TO THE OWNER. IT COMES WITH THE DANGER OF A RODENT POPPING OUT WHILE DRIVING OR SPREADING DIEASE THROUGHOUT THE CABIN OF THE CAR VIA THE AIR DUCTS. I FEEL THE CABIN OF THE CAR SHOULD BE A SEALED UNIT. THE ONLY WAY I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE DEEMED AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE IS IN THE CASE OF AN ANIMAL DESTROYING A PART IN ORDER TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE CABIN OF THE CAR. IN THIS INSTANCE THERE IS NO DAMAGE IN ORDER TO GAIN ACCESS THE CABIN AND IT IS THE SAME AS LEAVING A CAR DOOR OPEN 24/7 HOPING NOTHING BAD HAPPENS. COLD WEATHER CAUSED TURBO SYSTEM TO FREEZE AND THE VEHICLE GO INTO LIMP MODE. UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. PARTS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER FOR 2 MONTHS. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED WITH JUST UNDER 19,000 MILES ON IN DECEMBER 2017. ON DECEMBER 30TH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE WHILE ACCELERATING ON THE HIGHWAY (PREVIOUS HAD LET THE VEHICLE GO THROUGH 2 START UP CYCLES AND WENT ABOUT 5 MILES DOWN THE ROAD BEFORE I HAD AN ISSUE). THE WEATHER WAS AROUND -20 F. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND A SOLENOID WAS REPLACED FOR THE TURBO SYSTEM. AFTER ABOUT A WEEK OF HAVING THE VEHICLE, WHEN THE WEATHER WAS COLD BUT NOT AS COLD AS THE FIRST TIME THE ISSUE OCCURRED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE. I WAS PROBABLY ABOUT 10 MILES DOWN THE ROAD AND HAD RAN THE VEHICLE THROUGH A REMOTE START CYCLE. I WAS ACCELERATING AFTER SLOWING DOWN FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 2 MONTHS AS THE PART I NEEDED FOR TSB # 16-NA-405 (DATED 12/23/16) WAS ON A NATIONAL BACKORDER. THE WEATHER WARMED UP, SO THE DEALERSHIP LET ME HAVE THE VEHICLE BACK UNTIL THE PART CAME IN. SHORTLY AFTER THE PART I NEEDED CAME IN, SO THE TSB WAS COMPLETED. CHEVY HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE TURBO SYSTEM FREEZING FOR OVER A YEAR, YET THEY SELL VEHICLES WITH THIS ISSUE IN COLD WEATHER STATES. CHEVY DID NOT SEEM CONCERNED ABOUT THIS ISSUE, SO I AM HOPING TO WARN OTHERS AND GET THE WORD OUT. I SPOKE TO SOMEONE WHO ALSO HAS A TRAX AND HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THEY ACTUALLY HAD THEIR VEHICLE START SMOKING AFTER THE REPAIR, AND THE REPAIR HAD TO ME MADE OVER. CHEVY NEEDS TO MAKE SURE THIS IS FIXED IN ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS TURBO SYSTEM, SO SOMEONE DOES GET STRANDED OR IN AN ACCIDENT.
I SCRAPED MY PASSENGER SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR AND IT COMPLETELY SHATTERED. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THE PART REPLACED SINCE FEBRUARY 13, 2018. I HAD BEEN TOLD THAT IT NEEDED TO BE SPECIAL ORDERED BECAUSE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR MY VEHICLE ANYWHERE IN THE US. I WAS TOLD YESTERDAY THAT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER WITH NO DATE OF AVAILABILITY. EVEN WITH THE SIDE MIRROR THE CAR HAS DANGEROUS "BLIND" SPOTS AND WITHOUT THE MIRROR IT IS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I NOW FIND MYSELF LOCKED IN A LEASE ON A VEHICLE THAT CANNOT BE REPAIRED TO A SAFE DRIVING CONDITION.
IN COLD WEATHER DRIVING, 2017 CHEVY TRAX WILL THROW A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT 20 MINUTES AFTER STARTUP, WHICH SHUTS DOWN THE VEHICLES ABILITY TO MAINTAIN SPEED. THIS HAPPENS IN TOWN AND ON THE HIGHWAY. CODE SAYS TURBO FREEZING. THE VEHICLE WILL GO MAX 40MPH UPHILL ON THE HIGHWAY AND MAX 60MPH ON FLAT OR DOWNHILL HIGHWAY. HAVE TO PULL OVER BECAUSE CARS ARE COMING FROM BEHIND VERY FAST IN SNOWY CONDITIONS WHEN VEHICLE WILL NOT MAINTAIN SPEED. THE VEHICLE CANNOT ACCELERATE FROM A STOP EITHER. VERY SCARY. IN TOWN DRIVING IS ALMOST NOT POSSIBLE WITHOUT GETTING RUN INTO BECAUSE YOU CANNOT GET OUT OF THE WAY. WE HAVE 10 OF THESE VEHICLES AND THEY ALL DO THE SAME. CHEVY DEALER SAYS THEY HAVE A FIX, BUT CANNOT GETS PARTS TO FIX. ITS BEEN 4 MONTHS OF THIS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH NO HELP FROM CHEVY. I AM FED UP.

I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE ON NOVEMBER 22, 2017. I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON DECEMBER 14, 2017 WHERE I HIT A DOG AND MY CAR CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE DIDN'T BELIEVE THAT I HIT A DOG AND IT CAUSED THIS DAMAGE. I CONTACTED GM TO SEE IF THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE BUT THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT INVESTIGATE UNLESS MY INSURANCE CONTACTED THEM AND THEY ALSO TOLD ME TO READ MY MANUAL ON SEATBELTS WHEN I LET THEM KNOW THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
MY RADIO STOPPED WORKING AND WHEN I TOOK IT IN THEY SAID THE AMPLIFIER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT GOT WET FROM WATER THAT HAD POOLED IN THE WHEEL WELL DUE TO A LEAK. THEY TOOK THE CAR TO SS AUTO BODY AND THEY FOUND MULTIPLE LEAKS AND HAVE HAD MY CAR FOR 24 DAYS TRYING TO IDENTIFY THEM ALL.

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 8-302-0913391. THE VEHICLE'S SHIFTER CONSOLE DOES NOT ILLUMINATE AT NIGHT, LEAVING ONE TO GUESS WHAT FUNCTION THEY ARE IN (PARK, REVERSE, DRIVE). A VERY TINY NOTIFICATION IS ON THE ELECTRONIC DASHBOARD, BUT IF THAT FAILS, THEN THERE IS NO WAY OF KNOWING WHAT FUNCTION THE VEHICLE IS IN. CHEVY SAYS THAT THE FEATURE IS STANDARD, YET ADMITTED THAT THEY LEFT OUT OF SOME 2017 TRAX VEHICLES. THE SHIFTER CONSOLE DOES NOT ILLUMINATE REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOUR HEADLIGHTS ARE ON OR OFF. CHEVY HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND INFORMED THAT IT IS TOO EXPENSIVE TO FIX THE DEFECT.

In the affected vehicles, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.
