The contact owns a 2017 Land Rover Range Rover. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed an abnormal gasoline odor coming into the interior of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact continued to drive to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 64,100.
The contact owns a 2017 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently stalled and lost motive power. The warning message "No Fuel" appeared on the instrument panel. The contact stated that she veered to side of the road and was unable to restart the vehicle after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the computer software system needed to be updated. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired however, the failure had been recurring while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. The computer software system was updated, and the fuel sensors were replaced. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
While I am in intersections driving, the car completely shuts off and I have to start the car back up for it to actually drive. It completely turns off while you’re driving. I have had several electrical issues with the car that have also been repaired. I’ve brought the car into the dealer service center over seven times and they have not been able to reproduce the issue of shutting off. I have installed a dash cam to record when it happens randomly. I reported to Land Rover corporate and they have not done anything over 8 months with this issue. I have two daughters and I’m concerned about getting into an accident with this car shutting off randomly. This has been occurring since I purchased the car in October 2020. Please help.
Fuel gauge indicated no fuel even though tank was just filled. Vehicle went into limp mode then would only start for a minute. Exact same symptoms as current recall for same model year but ours is outside of VIN range for that recall. Vehicle only has 35k miles and had fuel pump replaced which has seemed to fix the problem although fuel gauge won’t read full ever.
The vehicle breaking system is damaging the ware items (Rotors and Pads) causing the vehicle to shake and shutter and become unsafe when driving on curvy roads and down hill. This vehicle has been in to the dealership 3 times under warranty and the dealership and Land Rover will not diagnose and repair the system problem. The vehicle was in the shop for 56 days and returned un repaired as the vehicle has now gone out of warranty. This is an ongoing issue and caused the vehicle to become uncontrollable. Also the blind spot monitoring system has failed many times and also has been in for repair and never fixed.
BREAKING ISSUE THAT CAUSED EXTREME VEHICLE SHAKING AND LOSS OF CONTROL, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ROYAL LAND ROVER TUCSON THEY INDICATED THE BREAKS AND ROTORS NEEDED REPLACED AND THIS WAS NOT A WARRANTIED ITEM AND THE COST WAS APPROXIMATELY $2,000. I HAD THE BREAKS AND ROTORS REPLACED AND PAID FOR THE REPAIR OUT OF POCKET, ABOUT THREE MONTHS LATER THE THE PROBLEM RETURNED, I RETURNED BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY AGAIN REPLACED BREAKS AND ROTORS HOWEVER THEY COVERED THE REPAIR. A COUPLE MONTHS LATER THE PROBLEM RETURNED SO I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY OPENED A TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CASE WITH LAND ROVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN THEIR POSSESSION FOR 4 TO 5 WEEKS AND THEY REPLACED BREAKS AND ROTORS ONCE AGAIN, THIS TOOK PLACE ABOUT 2,000 MILES PRIOR TO THE FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRING. A COUPLE MONTHS PASSED AND THE PROBLEM BEGAN TO COME BACK ABOUT 1,000 MILES AFTER THE FACTORY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED, SO I SCHEDULED THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AT THE DEALER, THEY AGAIN OPENED A TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CASE WITH LAND ROVER AND THIS TIME LAND ROVER DENIED THE REPAIR AS THE VEHICLE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. I HAVE MADE NUMEROUS CALLS TO LAND ROVER CUSTOMER SERVICE I SPOKE TO A LADY ON 4/20/21 WHO SAID THEY HAD AUTHORIZED $1,125 IN REPAIRS TO THE DEALER HOWEVER THEY HAD NOT, SHE ALSO SAID SHE WAS GOING TO CALL ME BACK AND SHE DID NOT. THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS IT LOOSES CONTROL WHEN THE SEVERE SHAKING OCCURS. LAND ROVER REFUSES TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE AS THE FACTORY WARRANTY HAS NOW EXPIRED EVEN THOUGH THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN ADDRESSED MULTIPLE TIMES UNDER WARRANTY. ALSO RIGHT SIDE LANE DEPARTURE WARNING DOES NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY AND HAS BEEN ADDRESSED MANY TIMES AS WELL
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET THE CAR JUST STOPS. I WOULD HAVE A FULL TANK OF GAS AND THE GAGE READS EMPTY. IN ADDITION ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD GO ON. THE CAR HAD TO BE FLAT BEDDED MANY TIMES. I HAVE NO DOCUMENTATION BECAUSE THE CAR WAS ONCE AGAIN FLAT BEDDED INTO SERVICE CURRENTLY , AND ALL PAPERWORK IS IN THE CAR.
THE CAR WAS PURCHASED ON 4/10/17 AND DESPITE IT BEING NEW, IT HAD ITS FAULTS. I HAD BROUGHT TO LAND ROVER ORLANDO AND A RANGE ROVER ENGINEER/SPECIALIST'S ATTENTION THAT THE CAR'S CONVENIENCE FEATURES ' ADAPT. CRUISE CNTL WITH QUEUE ASSIST AND INTELLIGENT (EMERGENCY BRAKING) - ALL OF WHICH, WERE AND UP TO THE ACCIDENT, NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. ALTHOUGH THE LR DEALERSHIP AND/OR RR ENGINEER/SPECIALIST WERE REACHED OUT TO A FEW TIMES, DESPITE THE RR ENGINEER/SPECIALIST INSPECTING AND RUNNING DIAGNOSTICS, NO ONE WAS ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY AND FULLY ADDRESS AND FULFILL MY CONCERNS. THE END RESULT WAS THAT I WAS TOLD TO FILE A COMPLAINT TO THE MANUFACTURER, WHICH I DID A FEW TIMES AND NEVER RECEIVED A FOLLOW UP. THE ACCIDENT TOOK PLACE ON 11/4/20 AT AROUND 8:15 AM. AFTER TURNING THE CAR ON AND PUTTING MY SEAT BELT ON, I SHIFTED THE CAR INTO REVERSE WITH MY FOOT STILL FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE AND SUDDENLY THE CAR'S RPM JUMPED ABRUPTLY, RESULTING IN ME REVERSING INTO A CAR BEHIND ME. HAVING JUST GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT AND CALMLY ACKNOWLEDGING THE SITUATION, I PROCEEDED TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO DRIVE TO MOVE IT AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, AGAIN, THE RPM JUMPED ABRUPTLY, CAUSING THE CAR TO JUMP FORWARD, BACK TOWARDS THE DIRECTION I JUST CAME FROM, AND DESPITE TRYING TO CONTROL THE CAR AND SLOW IT DOWN, THE CAR UNCONTROLLABLY DROVE OVER THE CURB AND THROUGH A FENCE, PULLING THE FENCE OUT OF PLACE AND IT'S CONCRETE FOUNDATION OF ABOUT TWO FEET, AND WENT INTO HIGH SPEED AND FLEW ABOUT THIRTY TO FORTY FEET HORIZONTALLY UNTIL FINALLY COLLAPSING IN A DRY RETENTION POND ABOUT FIFTEEN FEET BELOW. SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR I HAVEN'T BEEN SATISFIED WITH THE SAFETY OF IT. IT IS WITHOUT DOUBT THAT I HAVE SUFFERED MEDICAL AND CAR DAMAGE DUE TO THIS INCIDENT. ADDITIONALLY, STILL TO THIS DAY, 11/18/20, I AM SUFFERING MEDICAL DAMAGES TO MY FACE, BACK, AND BODY AND MIND AS A WHOLE.
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL GAUGE CAME ON, INDICATING THE FUEL LEVEL IS LOW AND ILLUMINATES THE WARNING LAMP, HOWEVER THE TANK ACTUALLY HAS MORE FUEL (FULL TANK OF FUEL).

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED THREE TIMES PRIOR TO THE CRASH; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE TURNED BACK ON AND WAS FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL VEHICLE HOLDING YARD AND THEN TOWED TO LAND ROVER EDISON (920 US-1, EDISON, NJ 08817, (732) 205-9000) WHERE THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY DOWNLOADED THE BRAIN WITH NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY IN THE INSURANCE COMPANY'S POSSESSION WHERE IT WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,256. *BF*JB
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY (INTERSTATE 87), TRAVELING ABOUT 2 HOURS INTO MY DRIVE WITH MY 8 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND FAMILY DOG AT A SPEED OF 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE'S SYSTEM WENT INTO FAILURE MODE AND STATED "DIESEL PARTICULAR FILTER FULL" WITH NO PRIOR WARNING OF THIS. VEHICLE HAD SOME LOSS OF POWER THEN FOLLOWED BY "LIMP" MODE WHICH THEN WAS EXTREME LOSS OF POWER. VEHICLE SYSTEM FAILED AND DID NOT ISSUE PRIOR WARNING OF "REGENERATION" OF DIESEL PARTICULAR FILTER. VEHICLE HAD BEEN SERVICED SEVERAL TIMES FOR DEF FLUID LIGHT, DIESEL SENSOR ISSUES, AND ALSO FAILED NYS INSPECTION ON IT'S FIRST ANNUAL INSPECTION IN FEBRUARY 2019. I ALSO HAD IT REPAIRED SINCE FUEL TANK WENT TO "EMPTY" WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND JAGUAR LAND ROVER SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE THERE ARE MAJOR ISSUES WITH THE SAFETY OF THESE VEHICLES. WE WERE ORIGINALLY SOLD ANOTHER DIESEL RANGE ROVER THROUGH SAME DEALER (MOUNT KISCO) BUT THAT VEHICLE COULD NOT PASS NYS INSPECTION AS WELL. WE WERE ASKED TO DRIVE IT FOR A COUPLE OF HUNDRED MILES AND BRING IT BACK FOR INSPECTION BUT IT KEPT FAILING AND WERE THEN SOLD THIS ONE.
THE CAR WAS IN A STATIONARY POSITION ON THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY (TRAFFIC RELATED) WHEN ANOTHER CAR FAILED TO BRAKE AND HIT THE RANGE ROVER FROM BEHIND GOING APPROXIMATELY 55 MILES AN HOUR. UPON IMPACT, THE DRIVER OF THE RANGE ROVER WAS PROPELLED FORWARD INTO THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSING FACE AND HEAD TRAUMA. DRIVER WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT. AFTER THE ACCIDENT, I TRIED TO ENGAGE THE SEAT BELT INTO A LOCKING POSITION WHICH IT FAILED TO DO. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER AND RANGE ROVER CORP TO DISCUSS THE ISSUE. RANGE ROVER CORP SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY CAR AND WAS NOT INTERESTED IN DISCUSSING FURTHER. THEY WERE ALSO NOT INTERESTED IN VIEWING THE CAR.
****NOTE - MISSING VIN AND MODEL YEAR**** MY FRIEND IS IN INTENSIVE CARE AT THE HOSPITAL AND HAS BEEN DECLARED BRAIN DEAD. AS SHE WAS GETTING OUT OF HER CAR, HER CAR ROLLED OVER ON HER IN REVERSE CRUSHING HER HEART AND CUTTING OFF CIRCULATION TO HER BRAIN. THE ROTARY SHIFT KNOB SHE BELIEVED TO BE IN PARK MUST HAVE BEEN IN REVERSE OR MUST HAVE MALFUNCTIONED. SHE IS 41 AND LEAVES BEHIND TWO YOUNG DAUGHTERS. ALSO, ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, THE ENGINE REVVED WITHOUT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED AND THE TRANSMISSION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HENNESSY JAGUAR NORTH ATLANTA (1505 MANSELL RD, ALPHARETTA, GA 30009, (770) 587-2000) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE FAILURES. AFTER FURTHER INQUIRIES, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF SEVERAL FAILURE CODES INCLUDING THE AIR BAG CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN FAULT, RETRAIN CONTROL MODULE FAULT, AND ABS CONTROL MODULE FAULT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE READER SHOWED A TOTAL OF 28 DTC FAULT CODES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
VEHICLE HAS SEVERAL ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THE BOARD WILL GO BLACK SCREEN WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER 2 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WILL CONTACT ME WITH A SOFTWARE UPDATE. IT NEVER HAPPENED. I DONT HAVE TIME TO TAKE A CAR TO THE DEALER EVERY WEEK. IT IS A NEW CAR. I LEASED IT ON SEP. IT WOULD INDICATE MALFUNCTION ENGINE LIGHT LAST TIME. THE VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I WOULD START THE ENGINE AND WOULD NOT SHIFT GEAR. I HAD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE MANNUALLY AT 5 MILES PER HOUR TO MY HOUSE. THE TOW TRUCK TOOK MY CAR 2 WEEKS AGO TO THE DEALER. THE CAR IS UNDER REPAIRS. NO LUCK AS TO WHAT IS GOING ON. TODAY THEY CALLED THAT ARE CHANGING THE FUEL PUMP. WAITING FOR THE PART AND AFTER INSTALLATION THEY SEE IF THE PROBLEMS ARE RESOLVED

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LAND ROVER JACKSON DEALER LOCATED AT 5320 INTERSTATE 55 NORTH FRONTAGE RD, JACKSON, MS 39211, PHONE NUMBER 601-326-5600, WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED AND THE TECHNICIAN UPGRADED THE SOFTWARE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT A KNOWN ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS ABOUT 1,220. BEFORE THE MALFUNCTION OF THE DEFROSTER, THE CLIMATE CONTROL DASH STARTING FLICKERING AND WENT OUT FOR ABOUT 3-5 MINUTES. I PURCHASED A 2017 RANGE ROVER SPORT HSE IN MAY 2017. IN JULY 2017, WE HAD A SEVERE STORM AND I NOTICED THAT I HAD LEAKING INSIDE MY BACK PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. I RETURNED MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT IS DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER TOLD ME TO LET DIRT BUILD UP ON MY CAR AND MAYBE THE DIRT PARTICLE WOULD DIVERT THE WATER THE OTHER DAY, I WAS WASHING MY VEHICLE AND WHEN I HOSED THE BACK DOOR AREA IN ADDITION TO WATER GETTING INSIDE MY VEHICLE AGAIN, IT ALSO CAUSED MY DOOR TO CONTINUOUSLY LOCK AND UNLOCK. IT WAS AS IF HOSING MY CAR WAS CAUSING AN ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE. I WAS AFRAID MY VEHICLE WAS GOING TO CATCH ON FIRE. I CONTACTED RANGE ROVER OF NORTH AMERICA IN ADDITION TO THE DEALERSHIP AND RANGE ROVER, NORTH AMERICA TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE.
A THIRD OF THE TIME, UPON ENTERING THE VEHICLE, THE DASH BEEPS AND DISPLAYS "GEAR SHIFTER NOT IN PARK.", THE AEB, NOW DISABLED, DISPLAYED ON THE DASH AT INAPPROPRIATE TIMES WHILE DRIVING, AND WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE CAR ONCE OUT OF D, THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT GO INTO P, R, N OR BACK IN TO D. THE DASH MESSAGE INSTRUCTED ME TO SELECT A GEAR, BUT I COULD NOT. THE CAR HAD TO BE TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. AFTER THE FIRST REPAIR ATTEMPT, I CONTACTED A LR SALESPERSON LIVING IN ANOTHER CITY. HE TOLD ME, IN CONFIDENCE, THAT SOME OF THE RR SPORTS AT HIS DEALERSHIP EXPERIENCE THESE SAME PROBLEMS. HE SAID: THE ISSUE RUNS DEEPER THAN I HAVE EXPERIENCED, IS COMPLEX AND COULD TAKE MONTHS, MAYBE A YEAR, TO REPAIR, AND CONFIRMED IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. HE ADVISED ME NOT TO DRIVE MY CAR. AFTER CONTACTING LRNA, THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS PROBLEM IS "UNDER INVESTIGATION" AND THEY DON'T "BELIEVE" IT TO BE A "SUBSTANTIAL SAFETY ISSUE." I DISAGREE. SINCE THEN, ON TWO OCCASIONS, LRNA TOLD MY CASE ADVISER AT THE DMV A FIX IS COMING. THE FIRST HAS COME AND GONE, THE SECOND IS DUE NEXT WEEK. MY DEALERSHIP IS DISINTERESTED AND TREATS ME AS IF I AM THE ONLY OWNER OF A 2017 RR SPORT EXPERIENCING THESE ISSUES. EVEN THOUGH, I MET THE OWNER OF A 7 DAY OLD 2017 RR SPORT IN THE SERVICE WAIT AREA, WHOSE CAR WOULD NOT START THAT MORNING. UPON CONVERSATION SHE TOLD ME HER CAR DISPLAYED THE SAME WARNINGS AS MINE. OUR VISIT WAS ABRUPTLY INTERRUPTED WHEN THE DEALERSHIP'S GM APPROACHED US AND ASKED IF HE COULD PERSONALLY DRIVE HER HOME INSTEAD OF HER HAVING TO WAIT. ALTHOUGH WE WERE INTERRUPTED, IT IS EASY TO FIND THESE PROBLEMS ARE RAMPANT AS LR FORUMS CONFIRM. THREE MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING MY NEW CAR WHICH STILL SITS IN SERVICE, AND HAS BEEN IN SERVICE OVER HALF OF THE OWNERSHIP DURATION, THERE ARE ONLY PROMISES OF A REPAIR ON THE WAY AND NO DEFINITIVE STATEMENT ON THE SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE.
2017 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO CONCERNS WITH BRIGHT HEADLIGHTS ON VEHICLE IMPAIRING OTHER DRIVERS VISION ON THE ROAD. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE HEADLIGHTS WERE EXCEPTIONALLY BRIGHT. THE BRIGHTNESS WAS EXACERBATED BY THE HEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE XENON LIGHTS SHOULD BE DIMMED OR AIMED DOWNWARD. UPDATED 05/11/2017 *JS
VEHICLE LOST POWER ON TWO OCCASIONS. BOTH INSTANCES TOOK PLACE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC WITH THE DRIVER'S FOOT ON THE BRAKE. VEHICLE SHUT ITSELF OFF AND PUT ITSELF IN PARK WITH NO INPUT FROM THE DRIVER. VEHICLE'S ONBOARD TRACKING SOFTWARE RECORDED BOTH EVENTS. ONE EVENT TOOK PLACE ON A TWO LANE RURAL ROAD WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT. THE SECOND TOOK PLACE ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WHILE STOPPED IN A TRAFFIC BACK UP. INCIDENTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO JAGUAR LAND ROVER.
THE AUTONOMOUS EMERGENCY BRAKING (AEB) SYSTEM IS NON FUNCTIONAL. ERROR MESSAGE ON THE DASH WILL SOMETIMES REPORT RECALIBRATION AND AT OTHER TIME STATE THAT THE SYSTEM IS UNAVAILABLE. ALSO INDICATES THAT THE "FORWARD ALERT" IS NOT AVAILABLE. THE DEALER IS UNCLEAR ABOUT HOW THIS WILL EFFECT VEHICLE HANDLING AND SAFETY. THEY HAVE REPORTED THAT THERE IS A SOFTWARE PATCH COMING BUT IT HAS NOT BEEN PROVIDED TO THE PUBLIC YET.
