Summary

THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED TWO TIMES WITHIN TWO YEARS. FIRST TIME, THERE WAS NO VISIBLE SIGN (OR NOISE) OF ANY ROCK HITTING WINDSHIELD AS I PARKED THE CAR IN SUN. WHEN I CAME BACK TO PARKING, THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED AND THE CRACK EXTENDED IN LENGTH AS I DROVE. IT COSTS ME $500 IN INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLE FOR GEICO INSURANCE TO HAVE WINDSHIELD REPLACED. THE WINDSHIELD AGAIN CRACKED IN APRIL 2019 THE SECOND TIME WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 10 AT ABOUT 50 MILES PER HOUR. I SAW A TINY MARK ON ONE EDGE OF WINDSHIELD (PROBABLY A TINY PEBBLE HIT FROM ROAD) AND THE CRACK SPREAD QUICKLY TO ONE FOOT AFTER DRIVING JUST FIVE MILES. THIS'LL COST ME $600 AS PER MY INSURANCE GEICO. I HAVE OWNED SIX BRAND NEW CARS FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND HAD NEVER HAD A LARGE WINDSHIELD CRACK FROM HEAT AND SMALL PEBBLE HIT. TWO LARGE WINDSHIELD CRACKS WITHIN TWO YEARS HAVE GOT TO BE A DEFECT IN ES 350 2017 WINDSHIELD (OR MANUFACTURING DEFECT). I KNOW THERE ARE SENSORS UNDER THE WINDSHIELD IN 2017 ES 350. LEXUS SHOULD FIX THE MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN ITS 2017 ES 350 WINDSHIELD.

Summary

WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MILES PER HOUR AT 6:45 PM ON TUESDAY, MARCH 6TH, MY SUNROOF SUDDENLY EXPLODED AND GLASS FRAGMENTS FELL INSIDE MY VEHICLE. AT THE TIME OF THE EXPLOSION, THERE WERE NOT ANY CARS AROUND MY VEHICLE NOR DID I HIT ANY OBJECT ON THE ROAD INCLUDING A POTHOLE. THE EXPLOSION SOUNDED AS IF A GUN WENT OFF NEAR MY HEAD AND THE GLASS IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO SPLIT INTO SMALL PIECES. OTHER THAN HAVING SOME RINGING IN MY EARS AS A RESULT OF THE EXPLOSION NOISE, I DID NOT SUFFER ANY OTHER PHYSICAL DAMAGE. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE LEXUS DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY HAD NEVER HAD A CASE WHERE A SUNROOF EXPLODED WITHOUT SOMETHING HITTING IT DIRECTLY. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT NOTHING HIT MY VEHICLE OR MY SUNROOF AS I WAS TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE WITHOUT ANY CAR OR TRUCK AROUND ME AT THE TIME OF THE EXPLOSION. I AM FILING THIS IN ORDER TO GET IT DOCUMENTED AND TO SEE IF ANY OTHER LEXUS OWNER HAS HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH THEIR LEXUS SUNROOF. I AM ATTACHING PICTURES OF THE SUNROOF WHICH SHOWS THE DAMAGE DONE FROM THE GLASS EXPLODING WITHOUT ANY TYPE OF FOREIGN CONTACT. I HOPE THAT SOMEONE FROM THE NHTA WOULD CONTACT ME TO LET ME KNOW IF THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER CASES LIKE THIS REPORTED.

THE PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. THE CAR REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF IT WITHOUT WARNING AND BRAKE ASSIST BY PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM AS LEXUS CLAIMED. IT RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. LEXUS HAS PERFORMED THE INVESTIGATION AND EXTRACTED DATA FROM EDR. THEY CONCLUDED NO DEFECT FOUND. I STILL BELIEVE THAT THE CAR PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM DID NOT WORK AT ALL AND WAS NOT ABLE TO PREVENT THE COLLISION AS EXPECTED.

Summary

MONDAY, JUNE 5TH,I BOUGHT THE LEXUS ES350 AT 6502 5TH AVE IN BROOKLYN. IT HASN'T BEEN A WEEK YET, AND ON FRIDAY THE 9TH, THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED. I WAS DRIVING FROM STATEN ISLAND TO FLUSHING TO PICK UP MY FRIEND TO GO BACK TO MY HOME. ALONG THE 495 HIGHWAY, WE WERE DRIVING AROUND 45-50 MPH AND SUDDENLY A WARNING POPPED UP ON THE ABS SYSTEM SAYING THAT THE "BREAKER IS ON." WE BECAME REALLY NERVOUS SO WE WANTED TO CHECK OUT WHY THAT MESSAGE CAME ON. THERE WAS A CAR ABOUT 100 METERS IN FRONT OF US, SO I STEPPED ON THE BREAKS, BUT I WAS NOT ABLE TO STEP DOWN ON IT. THE BRAKE IS COMPLETELY LOCKED AND HAD NO WAY TO SLOW IT DOWN AND WITHIN TWO SECONDS WE HIT THE CAR IN FRONT, AND OUR CAR WAS TOTALED. FORTUNATELY, NOBODY HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL. AFTER WE GOT HOME I FELT DIZZY AND EARS WERE RINGING. FORTUNATELY, I FELT BETTER AFTER A COUPLE DAYS. WE ALSO TRIED CONTACTING DIFFERENT LAWYERS, BUT NONE OF THEM WOULD TAKE OUR CASE BECAUSE THERE WERE NO REPORTS OF ME BEING INJURED OR ANY OTHER DOCTOR REPORTS. THIS IS RIDICULOUS BECAUSE IT'S BASICALLY SAYING THAT ONLY IF SOMEONE GOT HURT AND WAS BROUGHT TO THE HOSPITAL WOULD THERE BE A SERIOUS CASE. IS THIS REALLY HOW AMERICA HANDLES SERIOUS CAR ACCIDENTS? WE HOPE THAT LEXUS CAN BE FAIR AND HAVE SOMEONE INSPECT THE BLACK BOX TO SEE IF IT WAS THE CAR ITSELF THAT HAD AN ISSUE. WE ALSO WISH THAT THEY WILL GIVE US A SINCERE APOLOGY, RESPECT, AND JUST A FAIR ANSWER TO THIS PROBLEM.
