The contact owns a 2017 Mercedes-Benz AMG E43. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the TPMS detected that the air in the driver’s side front tire was low. After adding air to the tire, the warning light later reappeared. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact indicated that previously three of the four rims had been replaced or repaired, due to cracks developing on the rims, causing the tires to become deflated. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 10,782.
There are three main issues: As the weather got cold here in NJ, whenever the car is started in the morning, there is a strong fuel smell inside the cabin. Also there is a lot of fumes that smell gasoline. I think it is safety issue. The auto braking does not seem to operate right. I do not see any error message, but it had never tried to avoid a collision when I have tried other cars that would have normally applied the brakes in those situations. The garage door opening function does not work as soon as the ignition is turned off. This is an electrical issue in my view.
The contact owns a 2017Mercedes-Benz E300W. The contact stated while driving approximately 55mph when the contact heard a loud noise in the cabin and as a result the contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed into another vehicle resulting in the vehicle being destroyed. The contact stated the crash avoidance system had failed. The contact stated no warning lights was illuminated. The contact sustained arm bruises but did not seek medical treatment. The other vehicle contained 2 people but the contact does not know what injuries they had sustained. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and a police report was filed. The manufacturer was not informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.
There is a smell of gas inside the cabin coming from the vents
Vehicle emits a strong odor of gasoline when cold. It was mainly noticeable on the outside of the car at first, but now when I turn on the air inside the car (not on AC mode), I started smelling the odor of gas in the cabin. I have taken the car for possible repairs, but am told on two separate occasions by an independent service center that the odor can not be duplicated. There are recalls for the same issue on different models, but as of yet, not on this particular year model. I have notice that when the car sit overnight and when I open any door, trunk or push the lock button on the car's remote, a few seconds later, it starts emitting the smell of gasoline. The car is always parked overnight inside my garage, hence the smell is very strong.
Vehicle instrument cluster has gone completely off while driving, will not display. Everything else in car works fine. Fuses are not blown. Shows recall in 2017 for this make and model but VIN does not show as any active recalls related to this for this vehicle.
I was driving down the interstate when the panoramic sunroof suddenly shattered. Luckily my shade was closed but it is leaving me with a costly repair bill. I was not driving near any other vehicles, had not gone under an overpass, nor did a rock hit my roof. How could this happen and how can this be resolved? Who do I contact?

After experiencing the failure, the vehicle quickly resumed normal operation. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be diagnosed or repaired for the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Mercedes-Benz E300. The contact stated that while starting and driving the vehicle, the instrument cluster was blank. There was a fuel smell in the cabin of the car. Gar is parked in an enclosed garage. There was a major risk of fire to the car and the house. There were no warning signs! Problem has been confirmed and repaired at owners expense.
It appears according to the technician that the entire fuel system has shorted out at once while I was driving down the road and my car died at once while nearly causing a wreck while losing all power steering and control.
The contact owns a 2017 Mercedes-Benz E300. The contact stated while attempting to move the gear shifter from neutral to reverse or to drive, the gear shifter failed to move. The gear shifter returned to the neutral position. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the power train control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. IN OUR MERCEDES THE HVAC SYSTEM HAS A DEFECT WHERE IT DOESN'T PROPERLY VENTILATE & GROWS MOLD THAT SMELLS UP THE CAR. THERE HAS BEEN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ABOUT THIS EXACT PROBLEM AND IN THE LAWSUIT THEY STATE THAT NO AMOUNT OF REPAIRS CAN FIX IT. WE HAVE TAKEN OUR CAR TO THE MERCEDES DEALERSHIP COUNTLESS TIMES, THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT. WE WERE SENT HOME WITH A CAR THAT HAD SOMETHING SPRAYED IN THE VENTS & SMELLED HORRIBLE & GAVE ME A HORRIBLE HEADACHE THE WHOLE DRIVE HOME. THEN THE MOLD SMELL CAME BACK A FEW DAYS LATER ANY WAY. FOR ALMOST A FULL YEAR THEY HAVE BEEN AVOIDING US, THE CAR IS A LEASE & WE JUST WANT A CAR THAT ACTUALLY WORKS PROPERLY & DOESN'T CAUSE HEALTH PROBLEMS WITH THE MOLDY SMELL. THEY WON'T TAKE THE CAR BACK AND TRADE IT IN FOR SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T HAVE ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS. WE HAVE HAD TO TAKE IT IN FOR MULTIPLE REPAIRS AND THEY EVEN REPLACED THE FULL ENGINE BECAUSE OF SOME SYSTEM FAILURE IT HAD. THEY WON'T CALL US BACK WHEN THEY SAY WILL, WE HAVE SPOKEN TO MANAGERS, WE EVEN HAD CORPORATE INVOLVED TRYING TO GET THEM TO CALL US BACK & THEY EVEN GAVE US A $2,000 CREDIT FOR THE TROUBLES BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE MERCEDES BENZ OF PLANO WON'T TAKE IT BACK. THEY WANT US STUCK WITH THIS CAR BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO BE STUCK WITH IT. PLEASE HELP, WE HAVE SUBMITTED COMPLAINTS TO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OF TEXAS & STILL NOTHING HELPS US. PLEASE HELP US, THIS IS A FAULTY VEHICLE AND THEY WON'T FIX IT OR GIVE US A PROPERLY WORKING VEHICLE. PLEASE HELP! THEY WON'T LISTEN TO ANY OF US.
TAKADAAIRBAG RECALL. NO REPAIR AVAILABLE FOR OVER 2 YEARS, AND NO ANSWER FROM MEERCEDESDEALER, REGIONAL OFFICE OR US HEADQUARTERS. IN FEAR OF AIR BAG EXPLOSION AND NOT SAFE TO HAVE PASSENGER IN FRONT SEAT.

LOW PRESSURE FUEL LINE NEEDED REPLACING. THIS WAS DUE TO A FUEL SMELL IN THE CABIN WHEN COLD. MERCEDES INDICATED FUEL LINES ARE CONSIDERED WEAR AND TEAR AND EVEN THOUGH IT WAS LEAKING , WAS NOT COVERED UNDER PRE OWNED WARRANTY OR RECALL. THE FUEL LINE APPEARS CRACKED DUE TO MISINSTALLATION VS RUBBER CRACKING DUE TO AGE AS ONE SIDE WAS PRISTINE AND THE OTHER HAD A CRACK IN IT. THIS IS NOTICEABLE AT IDLE , WHEN THE CAR IS COLD AND THE HEAT IS BLOWING.
ADAPTIVE HIGH BEAM WAS NOT WORKING - UPON INITIAL ACTIVATION OF THE HIGH BEAM THE CAR WOULD PROVIDE AN ERROR THAT THE CAMERA WAS BLOCKED AND IT WOULD NOT WORK. THE DEALER INVESTIGATED AND IT APPEARS A PIECE OF TRIM FROM INSTALLATION WHEN NEW WAS LEFT IN THE CAMERA AND IT WAS NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY. THIS IS AN ISSUE IF YOU SUDDENLY NEEDED THE HIGH BEAMS ON AND THE CAR MAKES YOU PROCESS THE ERROR FIRST. THIS COULD IMPACT ANY DRIVER AIDS USING THE MULTIFUNCTION CAMERA.
STRONG SMELL OF PETROL IN THE MORNINGS, SEEMS TO BE UNDER THE HOOD. I INSPECTED THE FUEL LINES FROM THE FUEL TANK TO THE ENGINE UNDERNEATH AND COULD NOT FIND ANY DRIPS OR WETNESS. DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE. THERE WAS A RECALL ON OTHER MODELS FOR THIS PROBLEM. I CALLED MERCEDES CUSTOMER SERVICE BUT THERE IS NOT A RECALL FOR THIS ON THE 2017 MERCEDES E300
STRONG FUEL SMELL IN THE CABIN WHEN I START THE CAR IN THE MORNING. I'M SEEING THIS AS A COMMON ISSUE IN THREADS ONLINE. CAR OUT OF WARRANTY SO NEED HELP MAKING THIS A RECALL ITEM GIVEN THE DANGER OF FUEL LEAKS. SOLUTIONS POSTED ARE BELOW: 1) QUOTE FROM MY INVOICE: CONFIRMED FUEL LEAK WAS COMING FROM LINE TO HIGH PRESSURE PUMP. REMOVED LOWER PANEL OF TRANSMISSION TO GAIN ACCESS TO LINES. REMOVED HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP COVERS, REMOVED AND INSTALLED FUEL LINES, AND INSTALLED IN REVERSE ORDER TO CORRECT. RAN ENGINE TO VERIFY NO LARGE FUEL LEAKS. FOUND GOOD AT THIS TIME. 2) HAVE YOUR DEALER REPLACE THE TWO FLEXIBLE FUEL LINES FROM THE FUEL FEED LINE TO THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP.THERE IS NO OFFICIAL BULLETIN ON THIS BUT THIS IS THE FIX.
WHILE IN MOTION, ENGINE STARTS VIBRATING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES UP. TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND ITS A BROKEN PISTON. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS IS HAPPENING ON THE SAME ENGINE
I AM IN AN MBFOURM AND I AM STARTING TO HEAR OF ENGINE FAILURE AT AN EARLY AGE. I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THIS, YET. BUT, FROM WHAT I AM READING IN THE FORUMS, A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME MODEL ENGINE I HAVE IN MY 2017 MERCEDES E300 ARE HAVING ISSUES WHERE THE PISTON CRACKS AND THEY NEED A NEW ENGINE. MERCEDES ISN'T PAYING FOR ENGINE REPLACEMENTS AND IT IS ALL OUT OF POCKET COST. I AM WORRIED THAT ONCE MY WARRANTY IS OVER AND MY ENGINE BLOWS BECAUSE OF MERCEDES DESIGNS FLAW, I WILL END UP SPENDING 9-10K FOR A NEW ENGINE BECAUSE OF A DESIGN FLAW. HERE IS THE LINK TO THE FORUM: HTTPS://MBWORLD.ORG/FORUMS/E-CLASS-W213/798120-2018-MERCEDES-W213-E300-NEEDS-NEW-ENGINE-23K-MILES.HTML HTTPS://MBWORLD.ORG/FORUMS/C-CLASS-W205/731642-W205-C300-STAY-AWAY-PISTON-CRACKED-65-K-MILES.HTML
THIS IS A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE LACK OF RESPONSE BY MERCEDES BENZ IN REPLACING THE DEFECTIVE TAKATA PASSENGER AIRBAG. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT MERCEDES BENZ HAS ADDRESSED ONLY 35% OF RECALLED MODELS AS OPPOSED TO HONDA WHO HAS ALREADY RESPONDED TO 85% OF THE RECALLED MODELS, REPLACING THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS IN QUESTION. I CALLED THE DAYTONA MERCEDES BENZ DEALER WHEN I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE IN JANUARY 2019 REQUESTING THAT THE DEFECTIVE PASSENGER AIRBAG BE REPLACED. THEY REPLIED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND WOULD NOTIFY ME WHEN IT WOULD BE AVAILABLE. AS OF TWO DAYS AGO, OCTOBER 14, 2020 I HAD NOT HEARD FROM THE DEALER OR FROM MERCEDES BENZ. SINCE THEN I HAVE FOUND DOCUMENTATION AS TO THE DANGER OF THIS AIRBAG AND HOW IT HAS KILLED OR INJURED HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE. ARE WE EXPECTED TO DRIVE THIS CAR UNDER THESE CONDITIONS? DOES MERCEDES BENZ GIVE A HOOT ABOUT ITS CUSTOMERS? I AM NOT DRIVING MY CAR BECAUSE IT DOESN'T TAKE MUCH FOR THESE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY GARAGE EVEN THOUGH I AM PAYING TAXES AND INSURANCE ON IT. I AM 79 YEARS OLD LIVING ON A SMALL PENSION AND DO NOT THINK I WILL BE ABLE TO SELL THIS CAR WITH THIS RECALL PENDING. YESTERDAY I CALLED MERCEDES BENZ CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY REPLIED THAT THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE IN NOVEMBER 2020. I AM FILING THIS CLAIM WITH NHTSA TO NOTIFY YOU THAT I AM ONE OF THE AFFECTED CUSTOMERS AND WILL BE NOTIFYING YOU AGAIN WHETHER OR NOT THE PART IS REPLACED IN NOVEMBER. FOLLOW THROUGH.
ON SUNDAY 9/13 DRIVING AT 55 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT AND THEN GLASS JUST FELL ON ME FROM EVERYWHERE CAUSING ME TO SWERVE ALL OVER THE ROAD AND I THOUGHT IT HAD TO BE SOMETHING I FELL OFF THE 18 WHEELER TRACTOR TRAILER NEAR ME AND I CHASED HIM DOWN AND HE ALMOST RAN ME OFF THE ROAD AND KILLED ME WE GOT INTO AN ALTERCATION ONLY TO FIND OUT IS A DEFECT FROM MERCEDES. IF SOMEONE COULD PLEASE CALL ME [XXX]OR EMAIL ME AT [XXX]. THANK YOU INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
AT AROUND 2.15 PM CST, I WAS DRIVING MY MERCEDES WESTBOUND ON I-694 TOWARDS MINNEAPOLIS AT ROUGHLY 70 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY MY E300 STALLED AND BY THE TIME I COULD FIGURE WHAT WAS WRONG, I LOST ALL POWER IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE MERCEDES BRAKE ASSIST TRIGGERED A HARD BRAKE AND MY CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE LANE ON THE FREEWAY. THE CAR BEHIND ME NEARLY MISSED ME AND AT THIS POINT EVERY LIGHT IN THE DASHBOARD LIT UP (I HAVE ATTACHED THE PICTURE BELOW). I TRIED HITTING ON THE IGNITION MULTIPLE TIMES BUT GOT NO RESPONSE. AT THIS POINT, I DECIDED NOT TO SIT IN THE CAR SINCE IT WAS TOO DANGEROUS WITH FAST ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND IT WAS ONLY GOING TO BE A MATTER OF TIME THAT SOMEONE WOULD REAR END ME. I STEPPED OUT OF MY CAR AND WHILE MULTIPLE CARS WERE APPROACHING ME AT HIGH SPEED FROM BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT LANES I FOUND A VERY SMALL WINDOW OF TIME (2-3 SECONDS) TO SPRINT FROM THE MIDDLE LANE OF I-694 TO THE SHOULDER. MY WORRY WAS STILL FAR FROM OVER AS MY CAR WAS STILL SITTING IN MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE AND NOW I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF OTHER FOLKS WHO WERE TRAVELING IN MY DIRECTION. I SAW 12 TO 15 CARS ALMOST REAR END MY CAR. WHILE THIS WAS HAPPENING, I REALIZED MY PHONE WAS DEAD AND I WAS UNABLE TO CALL 911. I CONTINUALLY WAVED AT THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO ALERT THEM OF MY CAR AND REQUESTED THEM TO CALL 911. ABOUT 7 TO 9 MINUTES LATER, THE STATE HIGHWAY PATROL SHOWED UP AND BLOCKED TRAFFIC TO ASSIST ME WITH MOVING MY CAR TO THE SHOULDER. THESE 7 TO 9 MINUTES WERE THE MOST TRAUMATIC I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. I FELT HELPLESS, ANXIOUS, AND EXTREMELY STRESSED OUT.
ON SEPT. 10, 2020 WHILE DRIVING ON THE WESTBOUND LONG ISLAND EXPRESSWAY, NEAR EXIT 19,IN AN AFTERNOON RAINSTORM, MY 3 YEAR OLD MB E300 WAS FLOODED THROUGH THE REAR VIEW MIRROR MOUNT AND THE COLUMN ON THE DRIVERS' SIDE, SEPARATING THE WINDSHIELD AND DOOR. WATER CASCADED FROM THESE AREAS AND FLOODED THE FLOOR. ALL ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS ON THE FLOOR, UNDER THE FRONT SEATS, WERE SHORTED OUT. THIS BROUGHT THE CAR TO A COMPLETE AND SUDDEN STANDSTILL IN TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE OR MOVE, POTENTIALLY PUTTING MY LIFE IN JEOPARDY. THE SHIFT LEVER WOULD NOT PUT THE CAR INTO DRIVE, REVERSE OR NEUTRAL. THE CAR NEEDED A TOW ON A DOLLY OFF THE HIGHWAY AND IT CONTINUED TO RUN FOR HOURS. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD NOT TURN OFF AND THE WINDOWS COULD NOT BE SHUT. JUST ABOUT EVERY WARNING LIGHT IN EXISTENCE WAS ON IN THE DASHBOARD. THE ENGINE WAS FINALLY SHUT DOWN, AFTER OVER 4 HOURS, WHEN THE CAR ARRIVED AT RALLYE MERCEDES BENZ IN ROSLYN, NY. THIS SUDDEN STOP, IN A RUNNING CAR, ON A LIMITED ACCESS HIGHWAY COULD OF BEEN DEADLY. THE CAR HAD RECENTLY BEEN SERVICED AT RALLYE MOTORS.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I GOT A MESSAGE STATING "STEERING MALFUNCTION INCREASED PHYSICAL EFFORT SEE OWNER'S MANUAL". THE VEHICLE HAS 16,XXX MILES ON IT.
NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR RECALL
SALES STAFF TOLD ME THAT AIRBAG, LIGHT AND PAINT ISSUE WAS FIXED. AFTER COMPLETING THE DEAL, THE STORIES BEGAN. I TRIED TO RETURN THE CAR TO NO AVAIL. THE SALESMAN TOLD ME THE AIRBAG RECALL WAS OF NO HARM. LATER I READ THE INFORMATION ON YOUR WEBSITE THAT THIS RECALL OF THE AIRBAG COULD CAUSE HARM AND DEATH. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED HOWEVER I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT OR TO HAVE A PASSENGER IN THE CAR
CAR SHIMMERING ABOVE 5/60 MPH. AFTER MANY VISITS I WAS CHARGED $839.39 TO REPLACE THE ROTORS. CONTACTED MB CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME BUT TO DOCUMENT MY ISSUE. MB FACTORY WOULD NEED TO ISSUE A RECALL.I EXPLAINED THAT THERE A A LOT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS AROUND THE WORLD ON A MB FORUM AND THEY SAIT THEY WOULD NEED TO REPORT THE ISSUE AS WELL PROBLEM PERSIST AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE TIRES I PURCHASED FROM COSTCO. RETURNED THE TIRES TO COSTCO AND PURCHASED 4 NEW TIRES ON 12/30/19 AND ISSUE STILL PERSIST

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN JANUARY 2020. AT FIRST, THE FUEL FILLER DOOR WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED ONCE I OPENED IT TO PUMP GAS. EVERY TIME I WOULD CLOSE IT, IT WOULD POP BACK OPEN. I WOULD HAVE TO CLOSE IT ABOUT 10 TIMES BEFORE IT WOULD STAY CLOSED. THEN, I WENT TO PUMP GAS AND THE FUEL FILLER DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS UNLOCKED. PEOPLE EXPECT BETTER QUALITY FROM SUCH AN EXPENSIVE BRAND. MERCEDES BENZ NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH THE FUEL FILLER DOOR.
WHEN STARTING THE CAR, IN THE FIRST 20 MINUETS THE CAR HAS A VERY STRONG FUEL ODOR IN THE CABIN CAUSING DIFFICULTY BREATHING AND EYE IRRITATION, I NEED TO LEAVE THE CAR RUNNING FOR 20 MINUTES WITH THE WINDOWS OPEN BEFORE I CAN GET IN AND DRIVE, I WENT TO THE DEALER AND WAS DISMISSED AS IF EVERYTHING IS GOOD, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO NEXT.
I AM WAITING TO BUY THIS CAR BUT DO NOT WANT TO BUY UNTIL THE AIRBAGS ARE FIXED. THE CAR HAS REMAINED ON RECALL OF AIRBAGS SINCE JAN. 2019.
I STOPPED FOR A RED LIGHT, I SAW A POP UP ON THE DASHBOARD THAT READ 'BRAKE ASSIST DISENGAGED'. AT THAT POINT THE CAR SHUT ITSELF OFF. I TRIED TO RESTART WITH NO SUCCESS, IT WOULDN'T EVEN TRY TO TURN OVER. AFTER SITTING IN TRAFFIC FOR ABOUT THREE MINUTES UNABLE TO RESTART THE CAR, I JUST KEPT HITTING THE START / STOP BUTTON AND IT FINALLY TURNED OVER AND STARTED. I REPORTED THIS INCIDENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD WORK ON THE CAR IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN! IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN IT COULD RESULT IN A MUCH WORSE OUTCOME. I WAS DEAD IN TOWN TRAFFIC, HEADING STRAIGHT THRU A RED LIGHT AFTER A COMPLETE STOP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 MERCEDES-BENZ E300. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKES SPONTANEOUSLY ENGAGED, THE VEHICLE STOPPED, AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND BEEPED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LOKEY MOTOR COMPANY (19820 US HWY 19 N, CLEARWATER, FL 33764, (727) 362-6657) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
WHEN APPLYING GAS AFTER BRAKING, THE CAR HAS AN INTERMITTENT STUTTER. THE CAR WAS RECALLED FOR A TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED, THE PROBLEM APPEARED. LOCAL DEALER CALLS IT NORMAL
CAR CAUGHT FIRE SPONTANEOUSLY WHILE PARKED. A TOTAL LOSS.
THIS SUNDAY, MY BROTHER IN LAW WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND I WAS SITTING I. PASSENGER SEAT AND MY 5 YEAR OLD NIECE IN THE BACKSEAT. SUDDENLY, THERE WAS A LOUD POP SOUND AND AFTER FEW SECONDS THE GLASS STARTED FALLING IN THE CAR FROM ABOVE, WE FOUND OUT THAT THE SUNROOF GLASS SHATTERED FOR NO REASON, NOTHING HIT THE CAR, NO POTHOLES, NOTHING AT ALL. MY BRO IN LAW DID GET HURT ON ON ARM AS A SMALL PIECE OF GLASS HIT HIM. IMMEDIATELY I CALLED MERCEDES BENZ ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND TOLD THEM TO PICK MY CAR FROM MY BRO IN LAWS HOUSE ONCE WE REACHED. NEXT DAY NO RESPONSE FROM MERCEDES BENZ AND AFTER 3 DAYS (TODAY IS WEDNESDAY) THE DEALERSHIP 'TEXTS' (STILL NO CALLS) SAYING THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY $2126, THE THING IS I DON'T MIND PAYING SINCE I HAVE INSURANCE BUT WHAT ABOUT THE SAFETY FEATURES, WHEN I TOLD THAT SERVICE GUY ABOUT IT, HE SAID THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I EVEN TOLD ME ABOUT COMPLAINING IT TO YOU GUYS BUT STILL NOTHING. IT'S MERCEDES BENZ OF FOOTHILL BLVD, IRVINE, CA. APART FROM THAT, I LOOKED UP ONLINE AND I SAW FEW PEOPLE WHO HAVE SAME ISSUES AS ME (SUNROOF SHATTERING/BREAKING MERCEDES BENZ).

MY 2017 MERCEDES BENZ E300 CAR SEEMS TO HAVE SEVERE TIRE RIM BREAKING ISSUE. SO FAR I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 2 RIM'S ON THIS CAR AND 3 TIRES. I USE THIS CAR FOR COMMUTE TO WORK AND DRIVE ON HIGHWAYS IN CT WHICH ARE IN PRETTY GOOD CONDITION. SO THIS CAR IS NOT GOING OVER ON POTHOLES OR LIKE. HENCE I AM VERY WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE RIMS ON THIS CAR. THE STAFF AT THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THAT THEY HAVE SEEN OTHER CARS OF THE SAME MODEL COME FOR RIM REPLACEMENTS MUCH MORE FREQUENTLY THAN OTHER MODELS. I HAVE CALLED MERCEDES AND COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS AND HAVE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE.

I WAS JUST DRIVING HOME ON A CITY STREET (9/20/18) AT ABOUT 35 MPH WHEN UNEXPECTEDLY THE BRAKES ON MY E43 LOCKED UP LAUNCHING MYSELF AND MY PASSENGER FORWARD AGAINST OUR SEAT BELTS. THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ENGAGED; I HEARD THE REAR TIRES "CHATTER". THE CAR DID NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP; THE BRAKES DISENGAGED AND WE ROLLED FORWARD. UNTIL I REALIZED WHAT HAPPENED I THOUGH I HIT SOMETHING. THERE WAS NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME, BUT THERE WAS SOMEONE BEHIND AND BESIDE ME. I TOOK THE CAR INTO MERCEDES AND THEY UPDATED THE SOFTWARE AND CHECKED THE SENSORS AND REPORTED BACK THAT EVERYTHING IS WORKING PROPERLY. SINCE THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING SPECIFIC - I FEEL THAT THE CAR HAS A DEFECT THAT IS DANGEROUS TO THE PUBLIC AND SHOULD BE RECALLED UNTIL A SOLUTION CAN BE DEMONSTRATED. THE PUBLIC NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS. OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THIS EXACT OCCURENCE. THIS IS A DEFECT THAT WILL RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY - OR WORSE. THE CAR HAS PREMIUM PACKAGE 3 WHICH INCLUDES THE ACTIVE BRAKE ASSIST PROGRAM. I SUSPECT THIS WAS THE PROBLEM. ANOTHER PERSON REPORTED THIS WHEN CROSSING ONTO A BRIDGE. THAT WAS MY SPECIFIC EVENT ALSO; THE CAR DIPPED SLIGHTLY AS I WENT FROM STREET PAVEMEN TO BRIDGE PAVEMENT. PLEASE COMPEL MERCEDES TO TAKE RESPONSIBLE ACTION AND TAKE STEPS NECESSARY TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC; REGARDLESS OF HOW RARE THE EVENT MAY BE.

RIGHT FRONT AIR STRUT BLADDER EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A SMOOTH CITY STREET CAUSING RIGHT FRONT SUSPENSION TO COLLAPSE. CAR WAS ONLY DRIVABLE AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS AND WAS TRANSPORTED BY FLAT BED TO DEALER
THE DRIVERS EXTERIOR LEFT SIDE REARVIEW MIRROR IS OVERLY TOO LARGE AND IS MOUNTED APPROXIMATELY 2" TO 2.5" TOO HIGH . COMBINED WITH THE CO-LOCATED BODY ROOF SUPPORT BEAM BEING VERY LARGE THE DRIVER IS THEREFORE GREATLY IMPACTED BY THE COMBINED REDUCTION IN VISABILITY IN THAT ARC OF VISION WHILE TURNING LEFT. I'VE LEASED IN SUCCESSION 11 M/B SEDANS AND HAVE NEVER BEEN FACED WITH THIS PROBLEM. I'M 5'8", ATHLETIC, WELL AWARE OF ERGONOMICS, I'M A PE - SAFETY ENGINEER AND REALLY ANNOYED AND CONCERNED WITH THIS BIG BLIND SPOT AREA. I'VE FOUND THAT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY DRIVING LIFE I'VE HAD TO BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN TURNING LEFT PARTICULARLY IN VERY CONGESTED TRAFFIC SITUATIONS DUE TO THE LARGE REDUCTION IN VISIBILITY IN THAT AREA. PROBLEM STARTS IMMEDIATELY FROM A PARKED OR STOPPED SITUATION, LIKE AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT TO THEN INITIALLY START MOVING PARTICULARLY WHEN IMPLEMENTING A LEFT HAND TURN. VEHICLE LEASED ON 07/31/2017. PROBLEM HAS BEEN CONSTANT SINCE THEN.

VERY DANGEROUS IF CHILD IS IN BETWEEN DOORS AND DOOR CLOSES ON YOU. HAS INJURED AND BRUISED LEGS NUMEROUS TIME FOR NUMEROUS DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS.
AFTER ABOUT 1-2 MIKES OF DRIVING MY 2017 MB E300 STARTED JERKING AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I DROVE TOWARD THE FIRST LANE FOR A LEFT TURN ON A BUSY HIGHWAY INTERSECTION. I ALSO FOUND THE GEAR WAS CHANGED TO NEUTRAL. I TRIED TO CHANGE THE GEAR TO DRIVE WHILE WAITING FOR THE TRAFFIC LIGHT BUT I COULDN'T. I STOPPED THE ENGINE TO RESTART BUT COULDN'T RESTART AT ALL. I PRESSED THE MB ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE BUTTON. THEY SAID A TOW TRUCK WOULD BE THERE WITHIN 20 MINS. IN THE MEANTIME SOMEONE HELPED PUSH THE CAR TO MOVE IT TO THE SIDE BUT THE GEAR DIDN'T STAY ON NEUTRAL. IT KEPT GOING BACK TO PARK. THEN IT DIDN'T GO TO NEUTRAL ANYMORE. I GOT STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE I COULD DO BUT PATIENTLY WAITED FOR TOWING WITH MY LITTLE KID INSIDE THE CAR WITH AN EMERGENCY LIGHT ON AND 4 WINDOWS OPEN. THE CAR WAS HEATED UP WITH THE OUTSIDE TEMP OF OVER 90F. MY KID WAS GETTING EXHAUSTED AND DROWSY DUE TO A HIGH TEMP OF 110F INSIDE THE CAR. I PRESSED THE ASSISTANCE BUTTON AGAIN AFTER WAITING ALMOST 40 MINS AND EXPLAINED ABOUT AN URGENT SITUATION. THEY SAID THEY WERE STILL SEARCHING FOR A PROVIDER AND WOULD TEXT ME ETA OF A TOW TRUCK ONCE THEY LOCATED IT. COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT THEY SAID. MY KID WAS ALMOST PASSING OUT FROM THE HEATSTROKE. I STARED LOOKING FOR OTHER WAYS TO TOW MY CAR WHEN I FINALLY GOT A TEXT FROM THE ROADSIDE SERVICE SAYING A TRUCK WOULD BE THERE IN 50 MINS. OMG! THEN A LADY STOPPED HER CAR NEXT TO ME. SHE GAVE US WATER, LET ME MOVE MY KID INTO HER CAR WITH COOL AIR, CALLED HER AAA, AND LET ME USE THE SERVICE. AAA SHOWED UP IN 15 MINS AND TOWED MY CAR TO THE MB DEALERSHIP. I WAS MORE DISAPPOINTED WITH MB ROADSIDE SERVICE THAN THE CAR BREAKDOWN. WHAT'S THE PURPOSE OF THE BUTTON? WHY DID THEY INSTALL THE USELESS BUTTON IN THE CAR? IF IT WASN'T THERE I WOUNDN'T PRESS IT AND WASTE ALMOST 1 1/2 HRS ON THE STREET! MY KID COULD HAVE DIED IN THE CAR!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 MERCEDES-BENZ E300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACTIVE BRAKING ASSIST DRIVING ASSISTANCE PACKAGE ACTIVATED SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING OVER BRIDGES. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STOP ABRUPTLY SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALER (MERCEDES-BENZ OF ATHENS, 4735 ATLANTA HIGHWAY, BLDG. A, ATHENS, GA 30606, (706) 549-6585) WAS NOTIFIED, BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE BECAUSE FAILURE SITE IS IN BLUFFTON, S.C. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO MERCEDES-BENZ OF HILTON HEAD (155 FORDING ISLAND RD, BLUFFTON, SC 29910, (843) 815-0300). THE ASSOCIATES FROM THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE WHILE ONE OF THEM RECORDED A VIDEO OF THE SYSTEM ENGAGING. THE SECOND DEALER INDICATED THAT A FORM WOULD NEED TO BE SIGNED TO DEACTIVATE THE SYSTEM; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WANTED TO ENSURE THAT THE SYSTEM FUNCTIONED PROPERLY. A TECHNICIAN WAS SENT FROM THE MANUFACTURER WHO INDICATED THAT THE ACTIVE BRAKING ASSIST DRIVING ASSISTANCE PACKAGE DETECTED AN OBSTACLE AND WAS ENGAGING WHEN THERE WAS NO OBSTACLE. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED NO REMEDY AND STATED THAT THE SYSTEM WAS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *TT

ENGINE CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING
TAKATA AIRBAG DEFECT. I RECEIVED NOTICE OF RECALL FROM MB IN NOVEMBER, 2017, ALMOST 8 MONTHS AGO. DESPITE NUMEROUS FOLLOWUPS WITH BOTH MB AND THE DEALER, NEITHER MB OR THE MB DEALER CAN TELL ME WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO CORRECT THIS SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. PLEASE HELP BEFORE MY WIFE OR I OR OTHER PERSONS ARE INJURED OR WORSE. THE MB NOTICE STATES THAT THE AIRBAG MAY DEPLOY DUE TO INSUFFICIENT ELECTRICAL GROUNDING, AN ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE AND A BROKEN STEERING MODULE CLOCK SPRING, CAUSING INJURY AND RISK OF A CRASH.
ESP INOPERATIVE AND ACTIVE BRAKE ASSIST WARNINGS APPEARED IN INSTRUMENT PANEL. CAR THEN COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE GOING APPROXIMATELY 40MPH ON A MAIN ROAD. NO BRAKES, NO STEERING, NO ACCELERATION. FUEL ODORS WERE PROMINENT. AFTER RESTARTING CAR, SAFELY MADE IT TO THE DEALER WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE/REPRODUCE ISSUE BUT PERFORMED 'RESET'. ERROR MESSAGES APPEARED AGAIN 03/19/18. 2ND TRIP TO DEALER UNDERWAY. DEALER OFFERED TO PICK UP CAR FOR ME UNDERSTANDING MY EXPERIENCE JUST A WEEK PRIOR.

CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN GOING 60 MPH ON A MAIN ROAD.
THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE AFTER IT BEING IN SERVICE AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE CAR WAS SENT TO THE CAR DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES BECAUSE THE AUTO START WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE CAR WOULD JUST STOP AND COULD NOT TURN BACK ON SO I HAD TO GET IT TOWED 3 TIMES...... AFTER THE LAST TIME IT CAUGHT ON FIRE WITH THE PASSENGER INSIDE THE CAR..... PASSENGER IS OK DID NOT GET HURT BUT IT WAS A VERY TRAUMATIZING EXPERIENCE. THE CAR IS NOW A TOTAL LOSS AND I'M STILL WAITING ON THE DEALERSHIP TO INVESTIGATE THE FIRE AND TO PAY FOR THE CAR.

THE VEHICLE HAS A KNOWN SAFETY DEFECT WHICH HAS BEEN REFERRED TO BOTH THE PRESIDENT OF MERCEDES BENZ USA AND THE CHAIRMAN OF DAIMLER AG (PARENT OF MERCEDES BENZ USA) IN GERMANY. MB USA HAS STATED THAT THE PROBLEM IS A THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE ERROR AND HAS REFUSED TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PRODUCT. IT APPEARS TO BE A COVER-UP NOT DISSIMILAR TO THE VW ISSUE WHERE MANAGEMENT IS ACTIVELY AVOIDING ADDRESSING THE PROBLEM AND WON'T PUT ITS ACKNOWLEDGEMENT IN WRITING OR ADVISE THE OWNERS OF THE VEHICLE OF THE ISSUE AND ITS POTENTIAL LIFE THREATENING IMPACT. IN SUM, THE GPS SYSTEM IN THE $60,000+ IS NOT ACCURATE AND MAY GIVE SUBSTANTIALLY FALSE INFORMATION, CAUSING A DRIVER TO GO TO PLACES/AREAS WHICH MAY BE DANGEROUS. THE MOST EGREGIOUS ASPECT IS THAT MB THINKS IT IS SMARTER THAN EVERYONE, INCLUDING THE REGULATORY AGENCIES, AND ARE PURPOSEFULLY IGNORING THE PUBLIC'S SAFETY. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. MULTIPLE PHOTOS HAVE BEEN SENT TO MB AND THE MB ENGINEERS VERIFIED THE SAFETY PROBLEM. ALTHOUGH I HAVE INDICATED BELOW THE SEPTEMBER DATE OF THE FIRST LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF MBUSA, THE ISSUE WAS NOTICED BY ME IN JULY 2017, REPORTED TO THE LOCAL DEALER IN AUGUST, CONFIRMED SUBSEQUENTLY AND IS ON GOING. *JS
PANORAMIC SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE A PIECE OF DEBRIS FROM THE ROAD, THE SIZE OF A SMALL ROCK, STRUCK THE TEMPERED BUT NOT LAMINATED GLASS SUNROOF, SHATTERED IT, AND CAUSED IT TO DISINTEGRATE INTO MANY SHARDS OF GLASS, FLYING OVER, AROUND, AND INTO THE CAR.
DISTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM MALFUNCTION ALERT CAUSED CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE AND CAUSED ENGINE TO TURN OFF. LUCKILY THE BRAKES STILL WORKED BUT NO ACCELERATION WAS POSSIBLE - KIND OF A PROBLEM AT HIGH SPEED ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AT RUSH HOUR. PULLED OVER AND PUT CAR IN PARK TO TURN OFF CAR. RESTARTED FINE AND 10 MINS LATER SAME THING HAPPENED. DEALER REPAIRED AND SAID IT WAS A SOFTWARE GLITCH THAT REQUIRED AN UPDATE. SOME GLITCH!

RECALL 17V246 WAS PERFORMED AT AUTHORIZED MERCEDES BENZ DEALERSHIP, COUPLE WEEKS AFTER THE SPOILER FLEW OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT WARNING, ALMOST STRIKING THE FOLLOWING CAR BEHIND ME AND GOING INTO ITS WINDSHIELD CAUSING POTENTIAL CRASH.
THE BRAKE PEDAL IS TOO CLOSE TO THE CENTER CONSOLE. THE SPACE FOR MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL IS ONLY ABOUT 1/4-INCH WIDER THAN MY FOOT. SO, IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION, WHEN TRYING TO LIFT MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL TO APPLY THE BRAKES, MY FOOT BECAME ENTANGLED WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL. BY THE TIME I FINALLY GOT MY FOOT ON TOP OF THE GAS PEDAL, IT WAS ALMOST TOO LATE. I ALMOST CRASHED.

THE SUNROOF FOR MY 2017 MERCEDES E300 JUST SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING. I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT AHEAD AROUND 50 MPH ON A HIGHWAY ON A RAINY DAY, WITH NO ONE IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF ME WHEN I HEAR A LOUD NOISE THAT STARTLED ME. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HAD HAPPENED UNTIL I HEARD WIND NOISE FROM OUTSIDE AND REALIZED THE SUNROOF HAD SHATTERED. ONCE I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER, I REALIZED THAT THE THERE WAS A HUGE HOLE IN MY SUNROOF AND IT SEEMED TO HAVE ORIGINATE FROM INSIDE, AS THE GLASS WAS PUSHED OUTWARD. WITH NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME, DRIVING ON A STRETCH OF HIGHWAY WITH NO OVERPASS, I SUSPECT THAT THE GLASS OR CAR HAD A DEFECT AND SHATTERED ON ITS OWN. IT WAS A SCARY INCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS INJURED. THE CAUSE FOR THE INCIDENT IS UNKNOWN SINCE THERE WERE NO ROCKS OR OTHER FOREIGN OBJECT THAT WAS NEAR THAT COULD HAVE SPECIFICALLY HIT THE SUNROOF WITH DOING NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. *TR
