parking brake did not fully release (with no apparent signs). drove 20 miles, brake warning lights went on about 18 miles in to the drive. Pulled up to gas pump with rear wheels (unknowingly) glowing red. $6000 damage incurred, could have easily been an explosion at the pumps. Dealer purchased extended warrantee says nothing that fails due to "rust" is covered. Manufacturer has changed the design of the failed part but takes no responsibility, or issued advisory statements or recall. I purchased this vehicle brand new, am meticulous on upkeep and keeping it clean. All scheduled maintenance has been with the dealer. There were 3 other Promasters in the dealer lot who had the same issues.
We purchased 4 of these Dodge promasters about 4 years ago. During the first year we were replacing headlights about every 2 months. Dodge told us that we needed to use their "heavy duty" bulbs. These bulbs seem to last about 1 year. They have a 2 year warranty on original purchase, so after 2 years we have to pay again. This last time the bulb blew it also melted the housing the bulbs sits in. We were required to replace the assembly and the bulbs. I believe Dodge has a voltage issue causing premature bulb failure and now creating a fire hazard. Headlights should not burn out in a year!
The engine has been replaced in the truck with under 95k then the transmission goes down at 105k. Paid over 13k just for those two repairs within 4 months period. Those vans needs to be recalled for many complaints!
THE ETC WARMING LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THE VAN WILL DECREASE POWER MOMENTARILY , I USUALLY PULL OVER, TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND THEN BACK ON. THAT LIGHT GOES OUT AND THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND STAY ON. AFTER SEVERAL STARTS AND STOPS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OUT. DEALER FIXED IT LAST WEEK BUT THE RED FLASHING LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN AS WELL AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.
MY VAN HAD A RECALL INVOLVING THE COOLING FAN, IT WAS REPAIRED. AT APPROXIMATELY 25,000 I HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THE DEALER SAYS IT'S THE THERMOSTAT NEEDING REPLACED ($588.00!!!??? AT UNDER 26,000 MILES???!!!) THE TEMP GAUGE ALWAYS SITS RIGHT AT THE HALFWAY MARK, THIS CAN'T BE RIGHT BUT THEY SAID THAT'S TO BE EXPECTED.
WE HAVE 3 RAM PROMASTERS AND ALL 3 HAVE AN OIL LEAK AT THE OIL COOLER, COSTING OVER $800 EACH TO HAVE REPAIRED. AGAIN, ALL 3 HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE RESULTING IN OVER $2,400 IN REPAIRS.

AFTER WAITING FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CHAMPION CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (11477 NORTHPARK DR, GULFPORT, MS 39503, (228) 896-1515) BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V202000 (POWER TRAIN, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 57,787.

THE HEADLAMPS HAVE BEEN REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES, WAY MORE THAN THEY SHOULD NEED. WE REPLACED THE DRIVERS SIDE LOW BEAM IN DECEMBER 2019, APRIL 2020 AND NOW IT IS IT OUT AGAIN - NOVEMBER 2020. IN ADDITION, THERE ARE NO WARNING LIGHTS TO LET THE DRIVER KNOW THE LOW BEAM LIGHT IS OUT. OUR VEHICLE ONLY HAS 44800 MILES ON IT. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AS HEAD LANPS ARE EXPENSIVE.
I HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED UNDER A DIFFERENT RECALL NOTICE AND WHEN IT WAS PICKED UP FROM THE DEALER THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WOULD NOT DISENGAGE. I TRIED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND IT MADE A LOUD SOUND FROM THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WHEEL AND ON INSPECTION THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THAT WHEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS RELEASED IN THE CAB BUT IT WAS NOT RELEASING AT THE BACK DRUM. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE, DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE, OR A WRECK IF THE BRAKE HAD ENGAGED DURING DRIVING OR HAD NOT FULLY DISENGAGED PRIOR TO DRIVING.
HAD THE VAN SERVICED PER THE RECALL FOR THE ENGINE COOLING FAN ISSUE. TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED FROM. AFTER DRIVING AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND GETTING ABOUT 50 MILES DOWN THE ROAD THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I COULD NEVER GET AHOLD OF THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN. DON JACKSON IN ATLANTA. THEY WOULD NEVER RETURN CALLS. I TOOK TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY IT'S THE ENGINE COOLING FAN RELAY IS SHOT. I DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM BEFORE.

FRONT DRIVER SIDE CV AXEL FAILING. MAJOR STEERING JIGGLE AND TIRE WOBBLE ANYWHERE FROM 30-65MPH ON STRAIGHT AWAYS AND ESPECIALLY ON CORNERS. HAVE STOPPED OPERATING THE VEHICLE UNTIL PART IS REPLACEABLE, UNFORTUNATELY NATION WIDE BACKORDER HAPPENING NOW, APPARENTLY BECAUSE THIS IS HAPPENING TO LOTS OF THESE MODELS.
RECALL NUMBERS W00 AND VB2 FROM FCA HAVE NOT BEEN REPAIRED IN A TIMELY MANNER. THE RECALL LISTED VB2 IS OF PARTICULAR CONCERN AS "A VEHICLE FIRE MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY TO OCCUPANTS AND PERSONS OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE, AS WELL AS PROPERTY DAMAGE" . I HAVE CONTACTED FCA AND THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY HAVE NOT YET GIVEN ME NOTICE AS TO WHEN THE CAR MAY BE FIXED. ADDITIONALLY THEY ARE NOT OFFERING ME RENTAL CAR SO I CAN SAFELY DRIVE AS I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. HAVE RECEIVED 2 RECALLS FROM FCA (VB2: ENGINE COOLING FAN MAY SEIZE LEADING TO VEHICLE FIRE AND W00: TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE MAY SEPARATE, DISCONNECTING SHIFTER FROM TRANSMISSION RESULTING IN INABILITY TO SHIFT TRANSMISSION). THE REMEDY FOR THIS CONDITION IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE AND REMEDY AVAILABILITY IS UNKNOWN.
UPPER BEARING PLATES RUSTED OUT AT LOW MILEAGE,MAKING VAN UNEXPECTEDLY PULL IN WHICHEVER DIRECTION IT WAS STEERED LAST AS SUSPENSION SPRINGS DID NOT RETURN TO CENTER. COST $1500.00 TO REPAIR. MECHANIC STATED THAT DEALER HAD PLENTY OF THESE PARTS ON HAND WHICH HE FOUND SUSPICIOUS AS TRUCK IS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD, INDICATING THAT THIS IS PROBABLY A COMMON PROBLEM.
WE HAVE HAD TWO MAJOR TRANSMISSION REBUILD. FIRST TIME, ON 11/30/18 WAS DRIVING AND BIG NOISE AND TRANSMISSION QUIT WORKING PROPERLY. IT WAS TOWED TO TRANS-KING TRANSMISSION SHOP. IT WAS FIXED ON 1-15-2019 AND COST ME $4096.04 THE SECOND OCCURRENCE WAS AGAIN BIG NOISE AND TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T WORK. ON 2/21/2020 HAD IT TOWED TO SAME TRANSMISSION SHOP BECAUSE IT WAS STILL UNDER THEIR WARRANTY OF 3 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES. THEY FIXED IT UNDER WARRANTY - NO COST TO ME - AND ALSO HAD TO FIX RADIATOR. THE TRANSMISSION SHOP RESEARCHED THIS PROMASTER 2500 AND FOUND THAT IT HAS A MINIVAN TRANSMISSION BUT A TRUCK CHASSIS. THE FLYWHEEL WAS DESTROYED BOTH TIMES. TRANS-KING TRANSMISSIONS WILL NOT PAY FOR THIS PROBLEM AGAIN. PLEASE SEE BOTH INVOICES I HAVE ATTACHED AND READ THE PRINTED VEHICLE INSPECTION FORM ON HOW CHRYSLER NEEDS TO DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM. ADDITIONALLY, WE HAVE HAD 3 CRACKED WINDSHIELDS (FREEWAY DRIVING ONLY), AND SEVERAL HEADLIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT. WE GOTTA DUMP THIS DOG, I STILL OWE A LOT OF MONEY ON IT. HEADLIGHT BULBS AND SOCKETS ARE BURNING OUT CHANGED OUT BOTH SIDES WITHIN LESS THAN 6 MONTHS OF EACH OTHER. LAST WEEK RIGHT HEADLIGHT BULB IN A WEEK THE LEFT SIDE WENT OUT????
I HAD THE COOLING FAN ASSEMBLY REPLACED DUE TO A NOISE AND NOTICEABLE HEAT COMING FROM THE ENGINE AT 68262 MILES. I LATER RECEIVED A LETTER STATING FCA WAS DOING A RECALL ON THIS ENGINE COMPONENT. APPROXIMATELY 7,000 MILES OR A MONTH AND A HALF LATER, I WAS GETTING A ENGINE VIBRATION AND GOT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON. I DID A DIAGNOSTIC SCAN AND IT SAID MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 2. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS THE CYLINDER HEAD THAT WAS BAD AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I ASKED THEM IF THE COOLING FAN RECALL WOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS BUT THEY SAID NO IMMEDIATELY. MY VEHICLE HAS NOW SAT AT THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THEY CANT FIND PARTS TO EVEN REPAIR THIS ISSUE. THEY WILL NOT CONFIRM IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM BUT THIS MUST BE A HUGE PROBLEM IF THEY CANT EVEN FIND PARTS ANY WHERE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. THIS VEHICLE IS JUST A LITTLE PAST ITS WARRANTY AND SHOULD BE COVERED DUE TO THE FACT IT WAS A RECALL ISSUE THAT MORE THAN LIKELY CAUSED THE CYLINDER HEAD FAILURE. THE LAST TIME I RECEIVED A EMAIL FROM FCA WAS TWO WEEKS AGO AND THEY STATED THAT THERE IS STILL NO ETA ON WHEN PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE IF THEIR RECALL ISSUE IS CAUSING FURTHER DAMAGE AND CAUSING THE ENGINES TO OVER HEAD TO CAUSE CYLINDER HEAD FAILURE.
01/29/2020 SUNLIGHT 1 DODGE PROMASTER WITH 9000 MILES AT 9AM PST ERRUPTED IN FLAMES. A SECURITY CAMERA CAUGHT THE EVENT ON CAMERA, 9AM PST. THE VEHICLE SMOKED WHITE SMOKE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AREA FOR 20 MINUTES AND ERRUPTED WITH ENGULFING ORANGE FLAMES, AND NOISE THAT ALERTED THE DOG INSIDE THE HOUSE. 911 WAS CALLED AND FIREMEN WORKED FOR 3 HOURS TO PUT OUT THE FLAMES. HAD THE CAMPERVAN BEEN PARKED NOSE TO THE HOME, THE HOME WOULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE, THE JEEP PARKED WITHIN 3 FT OF CAMPER MELTED THE REAR PANELS, NOT KNOWN YET IF IT IS A TOTAL LOSS. THE CAMPER HAD BEEN USED ONLY FOR TRANSPORT, NOT CAMPING. 9000 MILES. NO ALTERATIONS AND AN ADDED REAR CAMERA. IT HAD SAT IN PLACE 4 WEEKS IN DECEMBER IN MID 40'S DEGREE WEATHER. IT WAS LIGHTLY RAINING WHEN IT BURNT. THE BURN LANDED THE ENGINE ON THE GROUND. ACCESS TO THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT WAS DIFFICULT FOR FIREMEN. PARKED IN GRAVELED DRIVEWAY.
SUDDEN AND COMPLETE LOSS OF THE TRANSMISSION WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 65 MPH. NO WARNING. FORTUNATELY WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP ON AN EXIT RAMP. COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. VEHICLE HAD 40,751 MILES. REPAIR COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS. OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS A CONVERTED 2017 RAM 355 CARGO VAN BY WINNEBAGO. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND HAS CONTINUED TO BE A PROBLEM.*CW*JB

IN ADDITION, THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WAS FRACTURED. FURTHERMORE, WHILE DRIVING, THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT BECAME INOPERABLE WITHOUT WARNING AND A "LIGHT OUT" MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FERMAN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM TAMPA (24314 FL-54, LUTZ, FL 33559, (813) 929-2400) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR'S A FRAME WAS DETACHED FROM THE HINGE AND THE HEADLIGHTS WERE OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 59674601. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000.
NEWER TRUCK AND ENGINE JUST QUIT AS I WAS DRIVING ALONG. LOSE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. LUCKILY ON A BACK ROAD AND NOT GOING FAST. COULDN'T GET IT TO RESTART FOR 45 MINUTES, I'M NOT EVEN SURE HOW I GOT IT TO RESTART BUT I DID. CALLED DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T EVEN LOOK AT IT FOR 3 WEEKS?..ITS A WORK TRUCK, HOW I MAKE A LIVING...OY VEY .. I HAVE IT A LOCAL SHOP NOW.
CONTINUALLY BLOWS HEADLIGHTS ON EITHER SIDE FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I HAVE REPLACED ALL OF THEM, INCLUDING THE BRIGHTS
WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE, AFTER STARTING VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN OFF FOR HOURS, THE TRUCK WILL ABRUPTLY LURCH FORWARD AND BE RESISTANT TO BRAKING. ONLY WAY TO SETTLE IT DOWN IS SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES SINCE I'VE OWNED IT. BOUGHT IT AT 13,000 MI. IT'S NOW AT 25,000 MI.
MY PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW RANDOMLY FELL DOWN HALFWAY. AT THE TIME THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN OR OPENED FOR 3 DAYS. WE HAPPEN TO BE OUTSIDE WHEN IT OCCURRED.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN ON A ROAD AT POSTED SPEED LIMITS AND THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING DOWNHILL THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL OFTEN DOWNSHIFT TWO GEARS CAUSING THE ENGINE TO OVER REV UNCONTROLLABLY OFTEN TO 4000 REVOLUTIONS PER MINUTE. FURTHERMORE, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT TO A HIGHER GEAR DURING THIS TIME UNLESS THE DRIVER ACCELERATES HARD WHILE ALREADY BEING IN A SITUATION OF OVER REVVING THE ENGINE. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL NOT RESPOND TO MANUALLY SELECTED GEAR SHIFTS DURING THESE "OVER REVVING" EVENTS. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL EVENTUALLY UP SHIFT AFTER SEVERAL SECONDS OF EXCESSIVE REVVING AND ENGINE SPEED WILL BECOME NORMAL AGAIN ONCE THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING ON A FLATTER ROADWAY. THESE "OVER REVVING" EVENTS CAN HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES TRAVELLING DOWN A LONG INCLINE AND ONLY HAPPEN WHILE GOING DOWNHILL. THESE "OVER REVVING" EVENTS, WHERE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION UNNECESSARILY DOWNSHIFT SEVERAL GEARS WHILE TRAVELING AT POSTED SPEED LIMITS ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THE VEHICLE AT TIMES HAS BECOME UNSTABLE DUE TO ENGINE BRAKING, ON ROADS WITH WINTRY AND WET ROAD CONDITIONS. SEVERAL DRIVERS OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR EVENTS.
COOLING FAN 3 BEARING FAILED 1 YEAR AFTER PURCHASE, P0482 P0696 CEL CAME ON, NO TSB'S NO RECALLS, NO INFORMATION ON WIRING DIAGRAMS AVAILABLE. REPLACED FANS WITH NEW FANS AND ALL RELAYS AND SHROUD AND SENSORS, NOT UNDER WARRANTY, NOW FANS DON'T WORK AT ALL, CEL STILL ON 696 AND 482 EVEN AFTER RESET. COUNTLESS GOOGLE SEARCH RESULTS WITH SAME PROBLEM. FEELS LIKE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL.
AT 64000 MILES MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT ON MY 1500 PROMASTER VAN I HAD MINIMAL WEIGHT IN IT .

THE LOWER MIRROR DUE TO AN ENGINEERING ERROR CAN NOT MOVE OUT FAR ENOUGH TO PERMIT A SAFE VIEW OF TRAFFIC. ESSENTIALLY IT AFFORDS MOSTLY A VIEW OF THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. MY 2017 DODGE RAM PROMASTER'S ACCELERATOR STUCK WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN REVERSE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATOR AT FULL THROTTLE AND HIT A STEEL GUARD POLE CAUSE MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE REAR END. WHEN IT WAS PLACED IN DRIVE TO MOVE FORWARD OFF THE GUARD POLE IT ACCELERATED AT FULL THROTTLE AGAIN CRASHING INTO A STEEL FENCE AND GATE POLE CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 4000 MILES. WE WERE NOT TURNING. THE MOVEMENT WAS STRAIT FORWARD AND BACKWARD IN A STRAIT LINE MOTION. FORTUNATELY WE WERE IN A PARKING LOT AT OUR OFFICE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND IS STILL IN THE DEFECTIVE CONDITION BECAUSE AS OF YET WE HAVE NOT FILED AN INSURANCE CLAIM. THIS OCCURED AT APPROXIMATELY 4:30 P.M. ON 2/17/17. These vehicles have incorrect information on the tire placard including incorrect vehicle capacity weight, total number of occupants, tire pressure and/or "None" designation for the spare tire size when a full size spare tire is present. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher.
