The seat belt anchor will not grip, click and lock right away. It takes several times before it locks. Afraid it will become dislodge while traveling. Auto dealer will have to remove and replace entire seat belt mechanism and was advised not to drive the vehicle due to safety concerns.
Airbag wiring under front seats deteriorate over time causing an error to the airbag system, disabling the airbags.
My daughters car was hit on highway on drivers rear quarter panel. Major damage, frame and axle on car bent. Airbags did not deploy. No serious injuries. Occupants head hurts from impact, w steering wheel, seat belt was on.
Battery died. Went to dealer in another vehicle to purchase a battery. Installed the new battery and now have an airbag light. Called dealer to learn how to reset airbag, and they said it requires a special tool to reset along with a service charge ($80 to $160). Should an airbag system require special tool and/or knowledge when the car is required to have them? Everything else is operating normally, but airbags are out of service.
The contact owns a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, it was discovered that the horn was inoperable and there was no longer an audible sound while activated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. After retrieving the vehicle, the failure continued intermittently. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Additionally, the TPMS warning light would remain illuminated even though the tire air pressure levels were at the correct air pressure. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The approximate failure mileage was 15,000.
Dealer does not have parts to fix recall. Received fuel rail recall notice in March. It is late May and have called dealer multiple times with same response. Recall is for fuel rail that may leak.

THE VIN STILL SHOWED THE VEHICLE AS UNREPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. CAR CAN BE TURNED OFF EVEN IF THE VEHICLE IS NOT IN PARK. THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF WHILE STILL IN DRIVE UNBEKNOWNST TO THE DRIVER. THIS RESULTED IN THE CAR ROLLING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A LOT OF DAMAGE TO PEDESTRIANS AND OTHER VEHICLES. A ACCIDENT DID OCCUR ON FEB 12, 2021 IN SPROUTS GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT IN LA MESA, SAN DIEGO CA. INSURANCE COMPANIES HAVE BEEN INVOLVED TO REPAIR THE OTHER PARTIES VEHICLE INVOLVED. THE DAMAGE TO THE MENTIONED CAR INCLUDES DAMAGE TO THE BUMPER, TAIL LIGHT AND SIDE BODY. THE OTHER VEHICLE INVOLVED NEEDS THE ENTIRE SIDE PANEL REPLACED.
I WAS PARKED AND SUDDENLY MY CAR DID NOT WANT TO START, NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON BEFORE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. AFTER BRINGING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ACCORDING TO THEM BATTERY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN AND IT HAS BEEN ONLY ABOUT 2 YEARS OR LESS FROM LAST REPLACEMENT. THIS ISSUE CLEARLY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESS IMMEDIATELY AS BATTERIES SHOULD LAST FOR MINIMUM OF 3 YEARS. ALSO AFTER EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE BATTERY THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP IS STATING I MUST REPLACE FAULTY AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT AND PAY IT FROM MY POCKET WHICH I FIND UNACCEPTABLE. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE FURTHER INVESTIGATED AS AIRBAG WARNING INDICATOR CAN ALSO BE RELATED TO ' VOLKSWAGEN'S CLOCK SPRING PROBLEMS'.
I WAS DRIVING ON ROAD & I HIT A MAJOR ROCK OR A POTHOLE I WAS IN HYATTSVILLE. I WORK & LIVE IN THE CITY OF HYATTSVILLE. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM LARSON AUTOMOTIVE GROUP IN MID JANUARY 2021 AND, ONLY AFTER CHECKING YOUR SITE, FOUND THE RECALL. I NOTIFIED THEM AND THEY RETURNED THE CAR AND I PURCHASED A DIFFERENT JETTA THAT I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH. MY CONCERN IS THAT THEY ARE STILL SELLING THIS VEHICLE AND AT LEAST 4 OTHER JETTA 1.4 TS ON THEIR SITE. I AM WORRIED OTHERS WILL NOT CHECK AS I DID AND BE SOLD A CAR THAT IS UNSAFE, WITH AN ACTIVE RECALL.

I CALLED VOLKSWAGEN TODAY TO ASK ABOUT THE FUEL RAIL REPAIR AND WAS INFORMED THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION NOR A TIME FRAME OF WHEN THEY INTEND TO BE ABLE TO FIX IT. I PERSONALLY DON'T FEEL SAFE ALLOWING MY SON TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON A LEAKING FUEL PROBLEM. I HAVE TRIED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT BUT THEY SAY THEY CANT REPAIR IT. I FEEL VERY UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING MY CAR BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN SOME LEAKING LIQUID.
CAR HAS 65K ON IT AND HAS BEEN ACTING UP FOR AT LEAST 10K MILES ON THE FOLLOWING ITEMS: 1. THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT ON DASH WENT ON FOR NO REASON AND I HAD TO PAY A DIAGNOSTIC FEE FOR IT TO BE RESET. 2. THE RADIO LINKS TO MY PHONE ONLY 50% OF THE TIME WITH A FAILURE NOTICE POSTED ON THE MONITOR. THE BLUETOOTH WILL STILL WORK BUT TO CONNECT WITH MY CORD TO ALSO CHARGE, VERY INCONSISTENT. 3. THE TIRE DASH LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED DESPITE HAVING THE TIRES AND MONITORS CHECKED SEVERAL TIMES. 4. THE BACK UP WARNING INDICATOR HAS RECENTLY STOPPED ALERTING ME AND I CAME WITHIN INCHES OF BACKING INTO A CAR TODAY. I WOULD LIKE MY DASH TO BE ERROR MESSAGE FREE AND MY RADIO RELIABLY WORKING VIA MY PHONE CORD. I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT CORDS, PURCHASED NEW TIRES AND MONITORS, AND THE SAME ISSUES CONTINUALLY OCCUR. INITIALLY TOLD NO GAS LEAKING, CHARGED $229.00 WITH RECOMMENDATION TO CLEAN ENGINE AND INTERIOR COVERING UNDER THE HOOD AND NEW CABIN FILTER (I DECLINED AND VOICED MY FRUSTRATION). TOLD NO GASOLINE LEAKING AND RELEASED THE VEHICLE. A FEW DAYS PASS AND VEHICLE SITS, NOTICE A PUDDLE OF GASOLINE AND CALLED DEALERSHIP. TOLD TO TOW VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, TOLD AGAIN NO GASOLINE LEAKING. I TRAVERSED TO DEALERSHIP AND POINTED OUT THE ISSUE. THEN TOLD MY ISSUE AND NOT COVERED BY RECALL .... LOTS MORE TO TELL VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA CASE NUMBER # 04621276
MY VEHICLE IS UNDER RECALL BECAUSE MY FUEL RAIL BOLTS CAN BECOME LOOSE CAUSING A FUEL LEAK AND A FIRE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE ALLOWING MY DAUGHTER TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE GOING BACK AND FORTH TO COLLEGE. I HAVE CONTACTED VOLKSWAGEN CORPORATE CONCERNING A LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL A REMEDY EXIST. THEY TOLD ME THE DEALERSHIPS HANDLE LOANERS AND A RECALL THAT DOES NOT HAVE A REMEDY DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR A LOANER CAR PER THE DEALERSHIP. I STILL HAVE TWO YEARS TO PAY ON THIS VEHICLE THAT IS DEEMED UNSAFE AND THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT EVIDENTLY. IS THERE A LAW FIRM HEADING UP A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OR IS THE GOVERNMENT HELPING IN ANY OTHER WAY. THIS IS HOW THE BIGGEST AUTOMAKER IN THE WORLD HANDLES RECALLS. WE HAD A RECALL WITH NO REMEDY IN OUR LINCOLN AND CORPORATE LINCOLN GAVE US A LONER AT NO COST FOR 7 MONTHS UNTIL THEY FIGURED OUT HOW TO FIX IT. I AM FORCED TO KEEP PAYING FOR A VEHICLE THAT MAY KILL MY DAUGHTER. IF THEY CAN'T FIX IT THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO BUY IT BACK.
THIS 2017 JETTA HAD A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE SPRAYING FROM THE FUEL RAIL WHICH WAS CAUSED BY POORLY INSTALLED FUEL RAIL BOLTS. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A CERTIFIED VW DEALERSHIP ON NOV 11TH FOR REPAIR OF THIS DOCUMENTED MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THE CAR REMAINS IN THE POSSESSION OF BILLING MONTANA VOLKSWAGEN WITH NO RESOLUTION TO THE OPEN SAFETY RECALL. IT IS NOW DECEMBER 28TH, 2020. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN VW HANDS FOR 46 DAYS. I WAS TOLD THAT IT COULD TAKE UP TO SIX MORE MONTHS TO FIGURE OUT THE "PRESCRIBED FIX".

THE VEHICLE'S DRIVER'S SIDE BACK DOOR WAS SMASHED IN FROM HITTING THE TREE, THE TRUCK WAS DAMAGED SEVERLY. THE FRONT OF THE SMASHED IN THE MIDDLE FROM CRASHING INTO THE POLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AWAY TO AN IMPOUND LOT FOR THE POLICE. AN IVESTIGATION JUST ENDED ON 12/04/20 AND THE CONTACT WAS WAITING FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE RELEASED SO IT COULD BE DECLARED TOTLED BY HER INSURANCE COMPANY. THE DEALER SPRINGFIELD MITSUBISHI313 BALTIMORE PIKE, SPRINGFIELD, PA 19064 (484) 574-8434 STATED THEY WOULD NEED ALTTER FORM THE INSURANCE COMPANY FOR A FULL FINANCIAL SETTLEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO CITY VOLKSWAGEN OF HIGHLAND (9601 INDIANAPOLIS BLVD, HIGHLAND, IN 46322), WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND REPAIR COST. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,200.
I NOTICED TODAY AFTER DRIVING MY CAR WHEN TURNED OFF, THE FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM EXHAUST PIPE.
I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A 40 MPH ZONE TO A 65 MPH HIGHWAY WHEN THE CAR BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND THEN ENTER A LIMP MODE. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND COULD SMELL A STRONG ODOR OF GAS. I RAISED THE HOOD TO SEE AN OVERWHELMING AMOUNT OF FUEL SPRAYING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST CERTIFIED MECHANIC, VALLEY MOTOR HONDA, SHERIDAN WY. THERE WAS NOT A VW SHOP WITHIN 100 MILES OF THE BREAKDOWN. UPON ORIGINAL INSPECTION, A TORQUES HEAD BOLT WAS DISCOVERED LOOSE FROM THE FUEL RAIL AND THE FUEL RAIL WAS SEPARATED FROM THE INJECTOR ON THE DISTAL CYLINDER (SEE PICTURE). SIMPLY TIGHTENING THE FUEL RAIL DID NOT SATISFY THE PROBLEM. THIS IS REPORTEDLY THE RESULT OF THE INJECTORS SHIFTING POSITION AND/OR BEING DAMAGED. AFTER LEARNING ABOUT THIS COMMON VW JETTA PROBLEM, THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST VW DEALERSHIP IN BILLINGS MONTANA. IT APPEARS THAT THE PRESCRIBED RECALL FIX FOR THIS ISSUE MIGHT ONLY REQUIRE SOME LOCTITE AND WRENCH TURNING FOR THE CARS THAT HAVE NOT YET EXPERIENCED THIS CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. THE FIX LOOKS TO BE MORE EXTENSIVE FOR CARS LIKE MINE THAT WERE NOT CAUGHT IN TIME. THE CAR HAS BEEN AT BILLINGS VOLKSWAGEN FOR 14 DAYS WITHOUT RESOLUTION. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT PARTS ARE INVOLVED OR WHY THE REPAIRS NOT AVAILABLE. I CAN PROVIDE A COPY OF THE REPAIR BILL FROM VALLEY MOTOR HONDA IN WHICH THE FUEL RAIL WAS IDENTIFIED AS THE SOURCE OF MECHANICAL FAILURE.

PROBLEMS WITH FRONT ASSIST. I WAS TOLD THIS FEATURE WAS ON MY VEHICLE AND VERIFIED THAT IT WAS AT THE TIME OF SALE. UNFORTUNATELY IT DOES NOT EVER DETECT A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. FROM THE START, THE HANKOOK KNTROL M&S 224/45/R17 TIRES PROVIDED VERY POOR CONTROL IN WET OR EVEN LIGHT SNOW DRIVING CONDITIONS, IN SPITE OF GOOD ALIGNMENT AND WHEEL BALANCE. THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM, DID A COMPLETE VEHICLE CHECK IN AUGUST OF 2020, INDICATED NO PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE ITSELF AND PLACED THE BLAME ON THE TIRES, OF WHICH THEY HAVE NO RESPONSIBILITY. HANKOOK CORPORATE SAID THEY HAVE NO RESPONSIBILITY, IN SPITE OF TIRES STILL BEING WITHIN WARRANTY . I HAVE A 2017VW JETTA WHICH SUDDENLY 'LOCKS' AS I AM DRIVING. MY CAR SUDDENLY STARTS REDUCING SPEED AND THE BREAKS BECOME STIFF. SINCE THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE IT SEEMED THAT THE NEXT STEP WOULD BE CONTACTING THIS AGENCY. BECAUSE OF A GLITCH IN THE REAR CAM SOFTWARE I NARROWLY AVOIDED TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS; IN ONE THERE WAS A CLOSE CALL WITH A VEHICLE PASSING BEHIND ME AND IN ANOTHER A NEIGHBORHOOD CHILD WAS RIDING A BICYCLE DIRECTLY BEHIND THE VEHICLE. AT ISSUE IS THE FACT THAT THE REAR VIEW CAM DISPLAY WILL STOP TRANSMITTING IMAGES IF YOU BRAKE WHILE BACKING UP, TURN ON THE RADIO AND THEN RESUME BACKING UP. MY 2017 JETTA HAS LIGHT SENSOR IN BETWEEN A BIT OFFSET POSITION OF TACHOMETER LETTER "7" AND "8", THAT IS ABOUT 1/4 INCH OR 5 MM DIAMETER IN SIZE, AND THIS SENSOR CONTROLS THE ILLUMINATION OF BOTH TACHOMETER AND SPEED GAUGE. (GRAPHIC LCD DISPLAY AND NEEDLES KEEPS THE FULL BRIGHTNESS.) IT WILL BE DARK IF SURROUNDING IS DARK AND BECOMES BRIGHT IF SURROUNDING IS BRIGHTER. THIS CONTROLS TOO MUCH AND BECOMES ZERO INTENSITY IS NOT ACCEPTABLE ACCORDING TO THE REGULATION "S5.3.2 BRIGHTNESS OF ILLUMINATION OF CONTROLS AND INDICATORS" UNDER "49 CFR 571.101 - STANDARD NO. 101; CONTROLS AND DISPLAYS." I DID CONTACT WITH VW OF AMERICA TO INFORM THIS ISSUE, BUT CUSTOMER CARE REPRESENTATIVE CANNOT DO ANYTHING BEYOND DIAGNOSTIC RESULT AT DEALER THAT THEY ARE INSISTED THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS SPEC. IT IS VERY SIMPLE TO REPLICATE THE SAME ISSUE AT ANY LOCATION, WITHOUT DRIVING AND WITHOUT TURN ON THE ENGINE. IT JUST SIMPLY COVERING THE LIGHT SENSOR AREA BY THE PALM OR ANY CLOTH TO IMITATE THE DARKNESS WHILE IGNITION IS ON. IT IS EVEN DARKER THAN ILLUMINATION WHILE HEADLIGHT ON AT THAT TIME FOR EXPERIMENT. AGAIN, THIS IS UNDER THE DAYLIGHT.
BRAND NEW JETTA WITH ABOUT 8000 MILES. AFTER ABOUT 20-25 MINUTES HIGHWAY DRIVING RATTLES AND STALLS ON SURFACE STREET. HAD TWO "JUST MISSED" ACCIDENTS TRYING TO MAKE LEFT TURN THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS. HAVE TAKEN IT TO DEALER TWICE. THEY TELL ME CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT.
MY CAR IS STALLING UPON STARTING INTERMITTENTLY FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS. I HAVE READ SEVERAL PLACES ABOUT PEOPLE HAVING AN ISSUE OF HAVING CARS OF THIS YEAR STALLING WHILE DRIVING WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I AM FEARFUL MY ISSUE COULD TURN INTO THIS. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALER AND IT IS NOT THROWING ANY CODES. THE DEALER DID SAY THEY HAD CARS COME IN WITH THE ISSUE OF THEM STALLING WHILE DRIVING AND THEY'VE REPLACED THE FUEL INJECTOR MODULE (A $900 REPAIR). I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED VW ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH NO RESOLUTION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY HAD A LOSS OF POWER, AND THE ENGINE, EPC, AND VARIOUS OTHER WARNING INDICATORS FLASHED. THE VEHICLE COASTED TO A STALL. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER SOME ATTEMPTS. THE DEALER (LONG ISLAND CITY VOLKSWAGEN, 5615 NORTHERN BLVD, WOODSIDE, NY 11377, 718-728-8111) PROVIDED A LOANER VEHICLE AND INDICATED THAT FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS REQUIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT PROVOCATION IN THE CAR I HAD JUST PURCHASED ON MARCH 21, 2017. I HAD JUST PULLED TO A STOP TO ALLOW A PASSENGER TO DISEMBARK IN THE PARKING LOT OF A CONVENIENCE STORE. THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED MAKING A HORRIFIC NOISE AND ENGULFING THE INSIDE OF THE CAR WITH WHITE SMOKE. THE CAUSE OF THE DEPLOYMENT IS UNKNOWN. THE CAR DID NOT COLLIDE WITH ANYTHING. THE PROBLEM WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON APRIL 5, 2017 AND TO THE CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS OF VOLKSWAGEN ON APRIL 7, 2017. THE CASE # IS 170305419. TO DATE THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED. NO ONE SEEMS TO HAVE AN EXPLANATION FOR WHAT HAPPENED, AND THE CAR IS STILL STILLING ON THE LOT OF THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS RETURNED.

Tenneco Automotive (Tenneco) is recalling certain Beck/Arnley Master Cylinders, part number 072-9831, sold as aftermarket or replacement parts for 2004-2018 Volkswagen Jetta, and 2012-2019 Volkswagen Beetle vehicles. The fluid seal crimp on the master cylinder may be insufficient, causing brake fluid to leak or the cylinder to come apart.
