Unknown car shutdown without warning an will haste when given it fuel.
While sitting at stop lights the car has shut itself completely off and restarted itself. This has happened atleast 6 times in the past 24 hours. The first time it happened, a message was on the dash screen that said "corrupt ......" with an explanation mark. I was unable to catch the full message. No message has displayed since that I believe. The vehicle shows no history/issue in the mychevy app.
I bought this 2019 Chevy Malibu with 40,000 miles on it the second day I had it the transmission completely lost power and would not accelerate it barley moves ford it takes about 5 whole seconds for it to get power and move this has happend pretty much every day when I drive this vehicle it has put me and my family’s life in danger so many times it’s ridicules I have took it to the dealership and they said that they can not find a problem on the tcm/ transmission control module so I told them to take it for a test drive and right when they pulled out of the dealership they almost got hit because the car would not accelerate they said there is defiantly a problem with the cvt transmission in the car but sadly there is nothing they can do until Chevrolet puts out a recall they said I am not the first one to bring back a 2019 chevy Malibu with this issue this needs to be fixed immediately it’s putting peoples life’s in danger

While I was getting on the highway during acceleration there was a loud popping sound which was immediately followed by the check engine light turning on the airbag system warning light turning on and a reduction in engine power. I had to pull off to the side of the highway and pop my hood in which at that point I observed the air intake hose had popped off of the throttle body. I put it back on and attempted to continue to drive but it popped off again which caused me to take it very slow ride to the closest dealership. Once I arrived I had it checked out by a service technician and was advised that my throttle body needed to be replaced and so does my airbag clock spring which controls the airbag system, it's deployment, the horn and all of the steering wheel controls. Without this being operational I cannot blow my horn and the airbags may not deploy or malfunction in the event of a crash. I looked online and found out that this was an existing problem with previous models of the Chevy Malibu specifically 2016 to 2018 models.
While driving on the highway my car started loosing power. A warning light came on stating Engine Power is reduced. I could not excelerate had to pull over on side of road. This is the first time this has happened to me but I just purchased this vehicle on 7/15/21 with 51,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated while driving 10 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle was slow to respond. The local dealer was contacted however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 53,713.
Get “Shift to Park” message when car is placed in park and turn off ignition. This seems to be a common error reported widely on 2016 through 2020 Chevrolet vehicles. I have even seen service bulletins mentioned. Why has Chevrolet not recalled this since it seems to be a weak switch used? This is not covered under the bumper to bumper warranty since I have 54,000 miles on a two year old car. This shouldn’t be failing after two years. Maybe after 10 years but not two!
CAR HAS ENGINE LIGHT ON. IT SHOWS ENGINE POWER REDUCED. ITS NOT GOING OVER THAN 30MILES AN HOUR. CAR HAS ONLY 41K MILES.
I'M NOT SURE WHAT'S WRONG, BUT WHEN I STOP AND START MY VEHICLE BACK UP WITH THE AUTO START I CAN HEAR SOMETHING LIKE WATER FLUSHING OR RUNNING THROUGH MY DASHBOARD. MOST OF THE TIME MY VEHICLE WILL STALL OUT WHEN I PRESS THE GAS, IS DRIVING OR TURNING MOST OF THE TIME IT DON'T WON'T TO GO. I ALMOST GOT HIT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BECAUSE I WOULD TRY TO TURN AND THE CAR WILL STALL BARLEY GOING. THIS HAS CAUSE A LOT OF FRUSTRATIONS. I HAVE HAD MY CAR SINCE AUGUST OF 2020 AND IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE 2-3 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING IT. I HAVE NOT HAD TIME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION BECAUSE I HAVE LUPUS AND I'M TRIED AND HAVE RANDOM FLARES.
WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE ON THE HIGHWAY AND MERGING IF I GET CLOSE TO 3 RPM TO GET UP TO 60-65 MPH M ENGINE LIGHT APPEARS ON THE DASH AS WELL AS MY TRACTION SENSOR LIGHT AND MY CAR WILL NO LONGER ALLOW ME TO ACCELERATE. ALSO AFTER THIS HAPPENS IT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO USE MY CRUISE CONTROL. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS. I TOOK IT TO MY DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT FIXED TWICE THE FIRST TIME THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG THE SECOND TIME THEY DISCOVERED 3 OF MY FUEL INJECTORS WERE BROKEN. I STILL EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE AND IT IS VERY SCARY NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE ON THE HIGHWAY WITH BIG SEMIS AND OTHER VEHICLES COMING BEHIND ME.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AT A LIGHT, THEN YOU BEGIN TO OUCH ON THE GAS AS THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN, THE CAR WILL SLOW ACCELERATE WHEN PUSHING ON THE GAS. THE CRAZY PART IS WHEN I TELL CHEVROLET ABOUT THIS NO ONE KNOWS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT, WHICH IS FRUSTRATING BECAUSE IT'S HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY AND IT'S FREAKING ME OUT! ALSO NO INDICATIONS ON THE DASHBOARD COME ON EITHER
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 TO 35 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER AND JERKED. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD, TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON WHICH RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION HOWEVER, WHILE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED GOING UPHILL, THE VEHICLE HESITATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HALL CHEVROLET CHESAPEAKE (3412 WESTERN BRANCH BLVD, CHESAPEAKE, VA 23321, (877)475-0719) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT ALL 4 CYLINDERS HAD MISFIRED AND THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED THREE ADDITIONAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER AND TEST DRIVEN HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DEEMED THE CONTACT INELIGIBLE FOR ANY REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 51,448.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 63 MPH. I STARTED TO FEEL MY CAR SHAKING AS THOUGH IT WAS GOING TO STALL OUT. MY CAR HAS A LITTLE OVER 17K MILES ON IT. ON MY DISPLAY SAYING SERVICE ESC WITH A CRESENT WRENCH ON THE SIDE, MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WAS ON (CAR WITH THE SWERVY ROAD) AND MY TRANSMISSION LIGHT FLASHING. I STARTED TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE THE LIGHTS AND DISPLAY WENT BACK TO NORMAL. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP AND SPOKE TO SERVICE MANAGER. MY DEALERSHIP HAD ME BRING IN MY CAR WHERE THEY CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS AND RELUBRICATED THE IGNITION COILS DUE TO MISFIRING. I QUESTIONED IS THAT NORMAL? HE SAID NO, THEN STATED THERE IS NO RECALLS LISTED.
DRIVING THE CAR, ON A HIGHWAY AT APPROX. 75 MPH, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND DASHBOARD STATES "ENGINE POWER RESTRICTED". NOW THE CAR HAS LITTLE POWER AND TAKES 18 SECONDS TO GET FROM 0-60 MAKING IT A ROAD HAZARD. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 42,000 MILES ON IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 15 MPH WITH THE POWER REDUCED MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CHAPMEN CHEVROLET LOCATED AT 1717 E BASELINE RD, TEMPE, AZ 85283 TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TURBO INTAKE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
AS WITH OTHER YEARS OF THIS VEHICLE , I ALSO HAVE HAS MY ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. MORE THAN TEN TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK.
THE SERVICE SAFETY RESTRAINT SYSTEM KEEPS GOING OFF FOR WARNING
AFTER CAR IS TURNED OFF AND IN PARK, THE DASH LIGHT STATES TO "PUT IN PARK" EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS IN PARK, THE LIGHT WON'T GO AWAY UNTIL THE SHIFTER IS WIGGLED BACK AND FORTH, AND SIDEWAYS WAY TOO MANY TIMES, I AM AFRAID THE BATTERY WILL RUN DOWN IF LEFT LIKE THAT, WITH THE LIGHT STILL BEING ON.
WHEN VEHICLE IS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT VEHICLE DISPLAYED MESSAGE 'STEERING ASSIST REDUCED DRIVE WITH CARE' THIS HAS DONE THIS MULTIPLE TIMES. VEHICLE IS A 2019 BROUGHT IT BRAND NEW THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING.
WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT THE AUTO START WILL ENGAGE. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN AND YOU RELEASE THE BREAK THE CAR WON'T MOVE. THE CAR NEEDS TO BE PLACED IN PARK TURNED COMPLETELY OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. NO WARNING LIGHTS ARE ON, DEARLER SHIP CANT FIND WHATS WRONG.
AT 10,000 MILES MY 2019 CHEVROLET MALIBU STARTED TO SPUTTER AND LOSE POWER. TAKING OFF AT A GREEN LIGHT, DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS, TURNING AT INTERSECTIONS, OR TURNING AGAINST TRAFFIC HAS ALL BECOME DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE CAR WILL NOT GATHER ENOUGH POWER TO GO, LEAVING MY CAR STUCK ON ROADS AND IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS. WE WERE PLACED IN A RENTAL 2019 CHEVROLET MALIBU WITH 11,000 MILES THAT ALSO HAD POWER PROBLEMS AND LEFT US STUCK IN A RUNNING CAR BEING APPROACHED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC.. THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSTIC CAME UP AS TRANSMISSION FAILURE, IN MULTIPLE BRAND NEW 2019 CHEVROLET MALIBU'S. ME, MY FAMILY, AND HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF MOTORISTS ARE IN DANGER BY DRIVING THIS CAR, OR EVEN BEING ON THE ROAD WITH THESE CARS.
WHEN I STOP AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT, IT SEEMS LIKE MY CAR CUTS OFF AND THEN BACK ON WHEN I HIT THE GAS. I CAN HEAR IT. THERE IS ALSO A SOUND IN MY BRAKES WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THAT SOUNDS AIR. *TR
SOME DAYS WHEN I AM DRIVING MY CAR IT SEEMS AS IF I'M PUSHING MY FOOT DOWN ALL THE WAY ONTO THE PEDAL AND THAT'S NOT NORMAL IT DID IT TODAY 6/4/2020I JUST GOT THAT CAR OCTOBER 2019, IT DID IT 3 TIMES SO FAR LIKE I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND IT SEEM AS IF THE CAR TOOK A VERY LONG TIME FOR ME TOO PUSH DOWN ON THE PEDAL, AND ALSO WHILE TURNING A CORNER IT TOOK A WHILE FOR THE ACCELERATION TOO CATCH UP AND AS I DID SOME REACH SEARCH SOME LOWER YEAR CARS LIKE MINE HAS RECALLS FOR FUEL INJECTORS RELATING TOO ENGINE STALLING OR PEDAL SENSORS. *TR
I WAS STATIONARY AT A RED LIGHT ON HIGHWAY 49 WITH MY FOOT ON THE BREAKS, AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I LET MY FOOT UP OFF THE BREAKS AND THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF. I TRIED TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON, BUT STILL NOTHING. I WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND THE CAR STARTED BACK UP, SO I PUT IT IN DRIVE AND STARTED DRIVING, BUT WHEN I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN THE BREAKS WERE VERY TIGHT. FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF, I SAT THERE AND TRIED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. I FOUND NOTHING, SO I GOT BACK INTO THE CAR AND CRANKED IT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I GOT THE CAR TO STAR CHEVROLET AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP. *TR
WHEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE WHEELS FEEL LIKE THERE ARE PUSHING ONE WAY. WHEN SLOWING DOWN THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES. PRESSING THE ON BRAKES THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO SHAKES. COUPLE DAYS AGO WE HAD TO TIGHTEN THE LUG NUTS ON THE CAR FRONT TIRES. ITS WAS GOOD A COUPLE DAYS AND NOW AGAIN DOING THE SAME THING.. *TR
BOUGHT "CERTIFIED" WITH WARRANTY FROM DEALER, HAS 13,000 MILES ON IT. SECOND TIME WE EVER DROVE (3 BLOCKS FROM HOUSE) ENGINE DIED WHILE TURNING INTO PARKING LOT AT WORK. TOOK TO EAGLESON'S DEALERSHIP THEY PUT ON DIAGNOSTIC, CHIEF MECHANIC TOLD US "I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE" BACKED IT OUT AND SENT US ON OUR WAY.
AT 7473 MILES, REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. DIAGNOSTIC CODE: P0013. CAR WAS TOWED 50 MILES TO A DEALER FOR REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF EXHAUST CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR. CAR WAS DRIVEN 4 TIMES BEFORE THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. MILEAGE UNDER 8000. DIAGNOSTIC CODE: P0013. IN BOTH CASES, THE CAR STILL RAN BUT IT MISSES AND CUTS OUT. *TR
THE 2019 MALIBU OWN WHICH IS AN LT WITH A SUNROOF AND HEATED FRONT SEATS, HAS HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE BATTERY CONNECTION WHERE AS THE CAR WAS BRAND NEW OUT FROM THE SHOP. AND THEN A WEEK OR TWO LATER I GOT INTO MY CAR TO LOOK FOR MY HEADPHONES, THEN I JUST WANTED TO SIT INSIDE MY BRAND NEW CAR FOR A MOMENT. AND THEN I TURNED THE RADIO ON TO LOOK AT THE TIME, AND THEN THE GAUGE CLUSTER CAME UP WITH A MESSAGE SAYING BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW. SO THEN LATER WE GOT AN EMAIL FROM CHEVY TALKING ABOUT THE ISSUE AND HOW CHEVY WOULD LIKE TO FIX IT FOR US. SO THEY FIXED IT. BUT I WOULD LIKE FOR OTHER PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT THIS. ALSO! I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY SUNROOF WHICH ISN'T A SAFETY CONCERN BUT IT'S WORTH NOTING. SO AS WE GOT THE CAR. WE DIDN'T KNOW WHY THE SUNROOF WOULDN'T OPEN WHILE WE WERE DRIVING OR ANYTHING. AND SO WHEN WE GOT HOME WE TRIED FIGURING IT OUT AND AT THE TIME IT WOULD ONLY OPEN UP IF YOU HAVE YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE, IN DRIVE WITHOUT MOVING. GOT IT FIXED AFTER TRYING TO GET THEM TO FIX IT. AND THEN THEY MESSED UP THE HEADLINER IN THE CAR AND HAD TO GET THAT REPLACED AND THEN THEY WANT TO TRY AND CHARGE US FOR USING THEIR LOANER CARS WHEN THEY MESSED UP THE HEADLINER. LIKE WTF.
WITH UNDER 10K MILES ON THIS CAR, WE DROVE AN HOUR TO A BASEBALL GAME, THEN FOUND WHEN WE STARTED IT BACK UP, IT WAS ON REDUCED POWER. TURNED OUT TO BE THE THROTTLE BODY THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED. TODAY, WITH UNDER 17K MILES, MY WIFE WAS PICKING THE CHILDREN UP FROM SCHOOL, AND IT LOST POWER AND SAID "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AGAIN. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH THE IGNITION IN THE OFF POSITION, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AND THE IGNITION WAS TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION, THE RADIO WAS STILL OPERATIONAL. THE PUSH TO START BUTTON WAS DEPRESSED AND THE RADIO TURNED OFF. THE CONTACT INFORMED AN UNNAMED DEALER OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,359.
NEW CAR. 500 MILES ON MOTOR. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. P2097. NOTICED DECREASED ENGINE POWER WHEN PRESSING GAS PEDDLE. CAR STALLED ON START. FELT SLIGHT SHIMMY FROM MOTOR WHILE SITTING IDLE.
FAULTY FUEL PUMP COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND KEY KOB READER
TAKATA RECALL. AFTER DRIVING MY MALIBU FOR MORE THAN A QUICK DRIVE AROUND THE BLOCK I NOTICED THAT MY LEFT EYE WAS GETTING BLURRY AND I SEEMED A LITTLE NAUSEOUS. THE SYMPTOMS STARTED EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I NOTICED A DISTORTION OF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD THAT IS CAUSING THE NAUSEA. WHEN LOOKING THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD AT ONCOMING TRAFFIC MY VIEW IS DISTORTED. THE SAME AS WHEN I LOOK THE VERY RIGHT OF THE WINDSHIELD. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND DROVE ANOTHER BRAND NEW MALIBU FOR A DAY AND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. AT THIS POINT EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE I GET NAUSEATED AND HAVE A SMALL HEADACHE. GM THEN DECIDED TO REPLACE MY WINDSHIELD. I RECEIVED A LONER EQUINOX TO DRIVE AND HAD NO ISSUES. I DROVE A SILVERADO FOR A FEW DAYS WITH NO PROBLEM. I TRADED IN MY OLD 2016 MALIBU THAT HAD NO ISSUES. I HAVE HAD COUNTLESS FRIENDS DRIVE MY NEW MALIBU AND THEY ALL SEE THE DISTORTION. I HAVE TRIED MOVING MY SEAT, CLEANING MY WINDSHIELD, PUTTING A TOWEL ON MY DASHBOARD TO REMOVE GLARE AND NOW ANOTHER BRAND NEW WINDSHIELD. I CAN'T DRIVE THIS CAR ANYMORE. I DRIVE TWENTY MINUTES TO WORK AND TAKES MY BRAIN ANOTHER FIVE MINUTES TO READJUST AFTER I GET OUT. I WANT MY OLD CAR BACK. THE DISTORTION IS A CONSTANT WHETHER DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS, AROUND THE BLOCK, SUNNY OR RAINY DAYS.
THE SPRING STEEL C-CLIP HOLDING THE CVT FLUID COOLING LINE IN PLACE AT THE RADIATOR FELL OFF WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON INTERSTATE 5. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID DRAINED OUT ONTO THE ROADWAY RESULTING IN COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER TO THE WHEELS. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON BUT THE ENGINE RAN FINE.
START/STOP ON POWERTRAIN / MOTOR CONTROL. MOTOR STOPS ON BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE AND STARTS UPON ? ? DECREASE IN PEDAL PRSSURE ? MOTOR STARTED AND RPM ACCELERATED BU ITSELF WHILE BRAKE PEDAL APPLIED, VEHICLE "SURGED" AND HIT POST. MOTOR ACCELERATES RPM / WORKS BY ITSELF. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. DELAY IN "START / STOP" CAUSING SURGE. SOFTWARE PROGRAMMING PROBLEM ?
THE ENGINE "AUTO STOP" FEATURE CAN HAVE ENOUGH OF A DELAY TO ALLOW THE ACCELERATOR TO BE PRESSED AS THE ENGINE STARTS CAUSING IT TO LURCH FORWARD RATHER THAN ACCELERATE SMOOTHLY. IT ALSO CAN CAUSE A DELAY WHEN PULLING OUT INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC. THERE IS CURRENTLY NO WAY TO TEMPORARILY OR PERMANENTLY DEFEAT THE SYSTEM ON THIS GM MODEL ACCORDING TO GM SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THOUGH I AM SURE IT IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED FOR CERTAIN OWNER DRIVING STYLES AND TRAFFIC CONDITIONS THIS CAN BE A SERIOUS HAZARD. CAR MAKERS SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO EITHER DISABLE THE FEATURE PERMANENTLY BY OWNER REQUEST OR HAVE A METHOD FOR THE OWNER TO BYPASS THE SYSTEM. WITH LESS THAN 250 MILES I HAVE EXPERIENCED 2 INCIDENTS OF ALMOST HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME FROM A STOP AND 1 OF ALMOST BEING HIT PULLING INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC FROM A STOP. I SEE MANY OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND HOPE THIS CAN BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR WORSE DUE TO IT.
I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR MAIMED BY A DEFECTIVE TIRE JACK THAT WAS INCLUDED IN THE TIRE CHANGING EQUIPMENT THAT CAME WITH A NEW IMPALA I RENTED FROM ENTERPRISE CAR RENTAL. THE JACK BENT IN TWO WHEN I TRIED TO CRANK THE JACK HIGH ENOUGH TO CHANGE A FLAT TIRE. I HAVE A PHOTO OF THE CHINESE-MADE PART #13592351/2017. I HAVE NOTIFIED BOTH ENTERPRISE AND GENERAL MOTORS. IN DISCUSSING THE ISSUE, IT SEEMS THAT NEITHER COMPANY INCLUDES A SAFETY CHECK OF THE TIRE JACK. MY CONCERN IS THAT 40-50 THOUSAND IMPALAS WERE SOLD IN 2018. CAR RENTAL COMPANIES PURCHASED THEM AS DID DEALERSHIPS. THOUSANDS OF UNUSED, I.E. NEW TIRE JACKS MAY BE SITTING IN THE TRUNKS OF IMPALAS THROUGHOUT THE US, CANADA, ETC. AND SOME COULD BE DEFECTIVE. THE GM EXECUTIVE OFFICE REP SAID THEY WERE GOING TO CONTACT ENTERPRISE REGARDING THE SAFETY ISSUE. TO ME THIS IS SHORT SIGHTED ON GM'S PART. THEY DON'T SEEM TO BE INTERESTED IN FINDING THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE DEFECTIVE JACK. ARE THEY MORE LIKELY TO CHANGE THEIR TUNE, IF CONSUMERS DIE AS A RESULT OF USING THE GENERAL MOTORS PROVIDED DEFECTIVE JACKS? STAY TUNED.
