GMC Corporate Office General Motors Company300 Renaissance Center Detroit, MI 48265 To Whom it May Concern, Been a customer with GMC for a good while despite the issues and troubles we were still loyal to the company. October 31,2021 Sunday, I had sudden lost of my brakes/stalled on my 2019 Terrain SLE while driving to the store close to my area on top of that having less than 30,000 miles in it. Despite the horrible and devastating event I was able to have the truck without any scratch , hit , or had any accident on this event but instead still safely stopped the car down a hill from where I lost my brakes/stalled. Fast forward Nov 2nd had the truck towed to the Milea Pontiac Buick GMC Service And Parts at 3281 E. Tremont Bronx New York 10461. Towing company both from picking up the truck and dropping off Milea had a hard time since the truck was not starting or even able to be placed in neutral to be able to have the truck roll of the flatbed. Nov 2nd Tuesday 2019 GMC Terrain was dropped off at Milea Service and Parts. 1st issue identified by your crew (sort of technical experts) was a bad battery and needs to be replaced, 2nd problem was the computer need to be replaced, 3rd problem was that I had put BAD gas into the tank and the fuel pump need to be replaced after 9 days so fast forward now to Nov 9, 2021.Now finally spoke to a mechanic now stating pistons doesn’t seem to be firing but does not have proper tools to do the test is trying to get from another dealer to be able to diagnose the problem. Nov 20, 2021, still no news as to what is the real issue on the truck we again visited the Milea to find out what is the deal and still without a truck from Nov 2nd to Nov 20 still yours truly has no loaner and no written nor verbal confirmation of what really cause my lost of my brakes/stalled truck. Linda Cuomo the Milea representative has nothing to inform us regarding the cause and instead waiting for a specialist from out of town which claims to be the e
The Back Up Camera System is not working properly. When Vehicle is put into reverse a blue screen appears. This can be dangerous as one could back up into someone or something. This is a 2019 vehicle and the NHTSA made them mandatory in May of 2018. This has been confirmed by a dealership. Many others have posted this online as an issue and GM has put out this service bulletin: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10160418-9999.pdf
BOTH FRONT TIRES SHOWING HEAVY CHIPPING OFF OF TIRE TREAD
The contact owns a 2019 GMC Terrain equipped with Hankook Tires, Tire Line: Ventus S1 Noble 2 Tires, Tire Size: 235/50/R19, DOT Number: (N/A). The contact stated that while her daughter was driving approximately 45 - 50 MPH, the low-pressure tire warning light was illuminated. The contact's daughter pulled over and noticed that there was tread separation on the front passenger's side tire. The contact's daughter replaced the affected tire with the spare tire. The vehicle was later towed to the dealer. The dealer was awaiting approval from the manufacturer to replace the tire. The tire manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was not available. The VIN was not available.
I received a "service brake assist" message which came on then off. Took the car to a local mechanic who looked it over and said to see dealer as they saw nothing obvious. internet search revealed that many people with terrain said this warning came on when battery was low. Made a service appt for NJ dealer for 12/6/21. on 12/3/21, began a 1200 mile drive from Florida to NJ, after 2 hours, check engine light came on. Took the exit ramp from I 75 and at end of ramp, there was a total braking failure. I had to press very hard to eventually stop. Shut off car, attempted to restart but it would not. Towed to a mechanic who found fluid leakage and a repair bulletin on GM site involving vacuum seal camshaft. #pip5598A diagnostic tip. Internet search reveals many anecdotal instances of same problem. On Monday, 12/6/21, I received an email from GMAC saying that the on board diagnostics had shown a "low battery" concern. The catastrophic loss of braking seems to be connected to a low battery situation. This needs to be looked into by NHTSA.
While driving the car cut off on us. Started the car and the dash lights were on. Also Navigation stopped working. Took the car to bellamy Strickland and they said no issues was found. Got the car back 12/02_2021 Car seems to be ok at the moment. Melissa at bellamy stated it could have been a computer glitch. Car only has 20k miles on it.
My 2019 GMC Terrain has 21K miles and noticed a oil or transmission leak this morning. I see recalls for other vehicles but none for mine. Linking from a bolt just as the other recall is for.
My wife was driving the car, about 70 mph on route 84 passing danbury ct. She was traveling in the middle lane, some kind of oil light went on the dashboard, car shut down while traveling 70 mph on the highway, and caught on fire under the hood. She managed to pull over, and got out of the car with my daughter. This is a 2019 car with 14K miles. This car was packed with milwaukee cordless tools, complete Festool set, complete golf bag with all the clubs, two suitcases of best clothes for me and my daughter, her laptop, etc. We were driving to our new home in south carolina, and on the way the car burned.
TRANSMISSION WOULD REV UP BETWEEN 4TH AND 5TH GEAR ONLY IN THE ON THE FIRST DRIVE. AFTER THAT IT WOULD SHIFT NORMALLY . WENT INTO DEKALB GMC ILLINOIS AND WAS TOLD IT WAS SOME PISTONS AND OTHER PARTS. THEY HAD IT FOR A WEEK OR TWO BECAUSE OF OTHER TRANS JOBS AHEAD ON MINE. GOT CAR BACK AND IT WAS WORKING FINE FOR A MONTH OR SO AND THEN IT STARTED TO SHIFT BAD AGAIN BETWEEN THE SAME TWO GEARS ONLY LONGER GAP BETWEEN SHIFTS THIS TIME. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE TECH ORDERED MORE PARTS TO REPAIR THE TRANS AND SAID I WOULD POSSIBLY GET IT BACK ON OCTOBER 19TH BY END OF DAY. IS THIS GOING TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM? IF SO WHAT IS THE LAW ABOUT 3 OR MORE REPAIRS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS THE SECOND REPAIR SO FAR.
Carfax report showed that Air bag deployed in the accident on 3/22/2019. Which is wrong information. The car was repaired through state farm authorize body shop. The effect part was front bumper, grill , left side head ligh and left fender.
The drivers side Seat belt buckle breaks somehow and we are unable to buckle the seatbelt in the car. After the first time, I bought another brand new buckle, replaced it. After one week of use, it also locked up. I am not sure what is going on and why such a thing keeps happening, but it is not safe and needs to be fixed ASAP. Not everyone has $80 to spend once a week on a new belt buckle which should last a lifetime. This is beyond dangerous, since seat belts are mandatory and my wife being unable to use it can be a matter of life or death. This is her only means of transportation and we can't just park it and use another. I can't possibly be the only one. Thank you for taking the time to look into this matter. Please let me know if there is any further information regarding this matter.

Found bulletin 19-NA-181 which was very close to all symptoms and stated to check for chaffed wires near the ECM. Found no spots in the tape where it was rubbed through but lost comms when wires were shook. Unwrapped main engine harness loom and inspected wires, found nothing. Started TAC Case # 9-6385087421 and was told it probably is a chaffed comms wire somewhere and gave me multiple locations to check. Found no damaged wires in those locations and shaking main harness no longer would make it fault. Put it all together and drove it down the road and faulted immediately. Unwrapped main harness again snd sprayed with saltwater to help conductivity but still couldn't get it to fault while shaking the harness. Only way it will fault is when shifting into drive the drive train bumps just right to bend the right wire. Checked every wire I could find and can't find the problem wire. Not drivable. When this vehicle faults it will not shift past 1st gear and sometimes locks out reverse. Must be towed. Needs the main wiring harness to start, recommend customer to authorize FSE to dealership CUST declined. *Yes, all the lights and messages were coming on over the dash.

Driving down load. Brake pedal got stiff as a rock. Brakes started to lock up. Almost caused a collision, as the car would not stop
WHEN I SHIFT IT FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE ON A VERY SLIGHT INCLINE, THE ENGINE WILL REV AND NOT ACCELERATE AFTER I INITIALLY START MOVING FORWARD. IT ACTUALLY ALMOST COMES TO A STOP BEFORE FINALLY ACCELERATING. IT HAS NOW STARTED DOING IT WHILE DRIVING AND STALLED IN THE HIGHWAY ON 2/13. I CARRIED IT LAST YEAR FOR THE SAME ISSUE, BUT THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE IT. TODAY, THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING. THEY CAN'T EXPLAIN WHY IT STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. EVEN THOUGH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND ON-STAR TOLD ME TO CARRY IT TO A DEALER. THE SERVICE TECH GUY ALSO TOLD ME THAT MY VEHICLE HAD 67,000 MILES ON IT. IT HAS LESS THAN 30,000 (NOT SURE ON THE EXACT NUMBER SINCE IT IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP.) IT IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE, BUT SINCE THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE IT, THEY AREN'T EVEN GOING TO INVESTIGATE IT FURTHER.
BOUGHT THE TERRAIN IN NOV 22ND 2020 AT COVINA CHEVROLET, CALIFORNIA. ON NOV 25TH WANTED TO RESTORE THE CAR STEREO BECAUSE THE SETTINGS WOULD NOT DELETE DATA SAVED AND IT WOULDN'T CONNECT TO MY IPHONE VIA USB. SO I DECIDED TO DISCONNECT THE POSTS FROM THE BATTERY TERMINALS FOR 30 MINUTES. CONNECT BACK THE POSTS TO BATTERY AND CHECK IF THAT DELETE EVERYTHING AND IT DID BUT IT STILL WOULDN'T CONNECT TO MY IPHONE. THAT'S WHEN I NOTICED THAT SRS AND SERVICE ESC MESSAGE CAME ON. THE ABS, AIRBAGS AND STABILITY LIGHTS WERE ON, TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURN IT BACK ON AND DIDN'T FIX THE ISSUE. I MADE A REPAIR SCHEDULE WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE AND TILL THIS DAY DEC 13TH THEY HAVEN'T FIXED THE ISSUE OR THEIR NOT EVEN TRYING. SERVICE ADVISOR ADVISE ME THAT THEY ARE GETTING IN TOUCH WITH A FIELD GM ENGINEER THAT WAS A WEEK AGO. I'M THINKING ITS JUST THE COMPUTER THAT IS FROZEN A MALFUNCTION ABS MODULE CONTROLLER OR A FUSES OR A RELAYS BECAUSE I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND HAD NO ISSUE. I LIVE IN OXNARD, CALIFORNIA AND ITS ABOUT 1HR 30MIN FROM THE DEALER. I'M STILL HOPING THAT THEY CAN FIX THE ISSUE BECAUSE I REALLY LIKE THIS VEHICLE. PLEASE HELP GM!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 GMC TERRAIN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE AIR CONDITION WAS ACTIVATED, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL CHEMICAL BURNING ODOR COMING THROUGH THE VENTS, CAUSING HE AND HIS WIFE TO GET HEADACHES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MEADOWLAND OF CARMEL GMC (1952 US-6, CARMEL HAMLET, NY 10512) HOWEVER, WAS NOT DIAGNOSED FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FIRST PURCHASED AND THE ODOR WAS FIRST EXPERIENCED, THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACED THE VEHICLE WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
9/30/20 DRIVING HOME AND WAS ACCELERATING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE, THE TCS AND STABILITRAK LIGHTS CAME ON AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN TO FLASH. A BRIEF MESSAGE POPPED UP TO SERVICE THE TCS SYSTEM AND WENT AWAY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STOPPED FLASHING BUT TCS & STABILITRAK/TRACTION LIGHTS REMAINED ON. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AS SOON AS I COULD, TURNED IT OFF, WAITING A FEW MINUTES AND RESTARTED - ALL LIGHTS HAD TURNED OFF. PROBLEM HAS NOT REPLICATED, BUT AM SCHEDULED FOR SERVICE (OIL CHANGE) AT DEALER TASCA BUICK GMC SAT OCT 3RD, WILL DISCUSS DURING SERVICE APPOINTMENT. (I COMMUTE DAILY ROUND TRIP 120 MILES) THIS IS EXTREMELY WORRISOME)
ON FEBRUARY 9TH, DRIVING HOME ON A ROUGH HIGHWAY, MY SERVICE ESC, ABS, TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (FLASHING) CAME ON. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER, FREAKING OUT. SHUT MY CAR OFF CAUSE I HAD NO CLUE WHAT TO DO. SAT FOR A FEW MINUTES, COLLECTING MYSELF AND TURNED IT BACK ON. ALL LIGHTS WERE GONE, SO I DECIDED TO CONTINUE THE DRIVE HOME. TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY, FOUND CODE P0300 STORED IN HISTORY. THEY DID AN UPDATE, AND HOPED THAT WOULD SOLVE MY ISSUE. ALAS, IT DID NOT. THIS SAME ISSUE HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 6 TIMES NOW. THE 5TH TIME, AGAIN, ON A SMOOTH HIGHWAY, I COMPLETELY BROKE DOWN AND HAD TO BE TOWED! IT HAS NOW BEEN SITTING AT THE DEALER FOR TWO WEEKS (SINCE JULY 31ST) WHILE THEY TRY AND DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE.
TWO INCIDENT WARNINGS ON MY DASHBOARD SAYING OF MY BACK HATCH WAS OPEN WHEN IT WAS NOT. HAD IT SERVICED BECAUSE THE DASH WARNING WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. SERVICE SAID IT WAS FIXED THEN HAPPENED AGAIN. TWICE THIS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY. ANOTHER INCIDENT WHEN ON NAVIGATION SCREEN, WHEN THE NAVIGATOR GAVE DIRECTIONS IT CHANGED TO PHONE SCREEN AND WENT BACK TO NAVIGATION SCREEN WHEN SHE STOPPED TALKING, LIKE SHE WAS CALLING ME TO VERBALLY GIVE ME DIRECTIONS! THE MOST WORRISOME WAS AS I WAS GOING 50 MPH ON CITY STREET, MY GAS PEDDLE STOPPED ENGAGING WITH THE ENGINE AND I WAS LOOSING SPEED, AS I PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDDLE HARDER THE CAR WAS DECREASING IN SPEED AS I WATCHED THE SPEEDOMETER. DURING THAT INCIDENT ALL WAS WORKING INCLUDING BRAKES, RADIO AND STEERING. I PROCEEDED TO DRIFT INTO A DRIVEWAY TO STOP THE CAR FOR HELP, GOOD THING I WAS NOT ON THE FREEWAY COULD HAVE GOTTEN KILLED. THE CAR IS GETTING SERVICED NOW, I DO NOT WANT IT BACK, WILL TRADE IN FOR DIFFERENT MAKE/MODEL IS THIS CONSIDERED A LEMON AND WHICH LAWS/ACTION DO I TAKE? I'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR ONLY 7 MONTHS WHEN THIS STARTED TO HAPPEN.

ON AUGUST 23, 2019, MY VEHICLE INCURRED AN ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION FAILURE REPORTED BY GMC ONSTAR APPLICATION. THE SYMPTOMS OF FAILURE ARE REPEATED ACCELERATION SPEED CONTROL CAUSING SPEED LIMIT VIOLATIONS, INTERFERENCE WITH OTHER MOVING TRAFFIC, SPOUSAL TRAUMA, AND ILLUMINATION OF MULTIPLE DISPLAY WINDOW LIGHTS IN THE DASHBOARD BEHIND STEERING WHEEL. ON OCTOBER 14, 2019, THERE WAS A REOCCURRENCE OF THE SAME ISSUE. IN FACT, THIS REPORT IS TO GET AHEAD OF THE PROBLEM BEFORE TAKING VEHICLE FOR SERVICE THIS MORNING, OCTOBER 15, 2019, AT SEWELL BUICK GMC. I HAVE SERVICE DOCUMENTATION AND ONSTAR EMAIL MESSAGES OF FAILURE FOR EVIDENCE OF THIS REPORT.

ON OR ABOUT MAY 22ND, I LEASED A NEW GMC TERRAIN FROM LAMBERT GMC IN CUYAHOGA FALLS, OHIO. ON JULY 2 WITH LESS THAN 1900 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION GAVE OUT ENACTING FULL EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM IN THE MIDDLE OF A 4 LANE ROAD CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DRIVE OR ENGAGE IN ANY GEAR. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO RON MARHOFER IN NORTH CANTON OHIO. FINALLY AFTER A WEEK DELAY ON 7/8 I RECEIVED A CALL THAT THE VALUE CASE WAS DAMAGED FROM MANUFACTURING. AS OF THIS COMPLAINT, NO RESOLVE TO THE REPAIR. I AM REQUESTING/DEMANDING UNDER GOOD FAITH THAT GM PURCHASE THE VEHICLE BACK.
THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON JUNE 22, 2019, WITH 19 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND HAD 1102 MILES ON IT WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. ON 19 JULY, 2019 MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 95 NEAR THE ROCKY MOUNT EXIT WHEN I PULLED INTO THE PASSING LANE TO GO AROUND SLOWER TRAFFIC (APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH). UPON PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR THE ENGINE RPM INCREASED, BUT THE VEHICLE'S SPEED DID NOT. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT SURGE (TO THE EXTENT THAT I THOUGHT I HAD BEEN REAR-ENDED) AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. AT THIS POINT, WE WERE STARTLED, AND CONTINUED UNTIL EXITING NC HWY 13 WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT OTHER THAN THE CRUISE CONTROL BECOMING INOPERATIVE AFTER THE INITIAL INCIDENT. UPON ARRIVING AT THE OUTSKIRTS OF GREENVILLE, NC WE ENCOUNTERED A RED LIGHT AND HAD TO STOP. UPON PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, THE ENGINE RPM ONCE AGAIN INCREASED AND ANOTHER VIOLENT SURGE WAS EXPERIENCED. AT THAT POINT, WE ENTERED A GAS STATION AND CALLED ONSTAR FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THE CAR WAS SUBSEQUENTLY TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP (BROWN & WOOD GMC) WHERE THE ON-DUTY MECHANIC DUPLICATED THE UNSAFE CONDITION. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS SO NEW, AND THEY COULD NOT CONTACT CORPORATE UNTIL MONDAY (JULY 22). I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP SATURDAY (JUL 20) TO GET A STATUS AND MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR A LOANER VEHICLE AND WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THE ISSUE WAS WITH THE VEHICLE WAS EVEN WORSE THAN THE DAY BEFORE - I DID NOT INQUIRE AS TO WHAT THAT MEANT BECAUSE IT WAS PRETTY UNSAFE AND SCARY TO EXPERIENCE IT THE DAY BEFORE. I WAS NOTIFIED YESTERDAY BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE ISSUE IS A VALVE BODY, BUT THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE TO RECEIVE THE PART.
JULY 10, 2019 AT HIGHWAY SPEED UPON ACCELERATION TURBO BODY TUBE BLEW OFF SUDDENLY AND ENGINE REDUCED TO HALF POWER / CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THIS HAPPENED AFTER ONLY 1000 MILES ON NEW CAR. AFTER A REPAIR BY DEALERSHIP JULY 11,2019 SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED JULY 12, 2019 WHILE ON HIGHWAY.
I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND WAS HIT IN THE DRIVER ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE ON THE STREET. THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY DURING THE ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 GMC TERRAIN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR FROM THE PARKED POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BRICKELL BUICK & GMC (665 SW 8TH ST, MIAMI, FL 33130, 786-504-1353), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AGAIN TWO WEEKS AGO AND THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION AND TRANSMISSION UNABLE TO SHIFT INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LEHMAN BUICK GMC (21200 NW 2ND AVE, MIAMI, FL 33169, (305) 356-7579). THE DEALER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS AUTHORIZED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. SEEMS GM HAS TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH THE TERRAIN TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING, SLIPPING, AND FAILING.
I PURCHASED A 2019 GMC TERRAIN VIN: [XXX] ON JAN 17, 2019 AT RIZZA BUICK GMC 8415 W. 159TH STREET, TINLEY PARK IL, 60487, ON JANUARY 17, 2019. THIS WAS MY FIRST BRAND NEW CAR AND I WAS EXCITED. I TRADED IN A 2014 GMC TERRAIN IN THE PROCESS, KNOWING I WOULD BE UPSIDE DOWN ON THE LOAN. I HAD THE FIRST SERVICE DONE ON APRIL 23, 2019 AT SAID DEALERSHIP. AT THAT VISIT I EXPLAINED THAT I WAS HEARING A NOISE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE VENT EVEN WHEN THE HVAC WAS NOT RUNNING. I WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS DETECTED AND MY VEHICLE WAS FINE ON MAY 24, 2019, I DROVE MY VEHICLE TO MEMPHIS TENNESSEE WITH MY FAMILY FOR MEMORIAL DAY. ON MAY 25, 2019 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I WAS LOSING POWER TO THE ENGINE. THAT SAME NIGHT CUSTOMER SERVICE TOWED MY VEHICLE TO SUNRISE CHEVROLET BUICK GMC, 1800 COVINGTON PIKE MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE 38128, A NEARBY GMC DEALERSHIP AND SET UP A RENTAL CAR IN THE AREA FOR ME TO DRIVE. BECAUSE IT WAS THE HOLIDAY, ENTERPRISE WAS CLOSED, AND I HAD NO VEHICLE TO DRIVE FOR TWO DAYS. THIS WAS AN INCONVENIENCE TO ME AND MY FAMILY, I HAD TO ALTER MY TRIP PLANS THAT WERE MADE BACK IN FEBRUARY 2019. ON MAY 27, 2019 I WAS TOLD BY [XXX] THE TECHNICIAN AT SUNRISE CHEVROLET THAT AIR BOX TUBE WAS LOOSE AND NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED AND COULD HAVE BEEN DONE DURING MY SERVICE I HAD DONE APRIL 23RD. I WAS ASSURED EVERYTHING WAS OKAY AND I WAS GOOD TO GO. ON MAY 31, WHILE TRAVELING BACK HOME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. SAME MESSAGE ON THE DASH AND IT WAS RAINING AT 3AM. I WAS CLOSE TO HOME AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN SERVICE SINCE MAY 31, 2019 AND I AM JUST FINDING OUT THAT I HAVE A PART THAT IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH MY EXPERIENCE AN I AM REACHING OUT TO YOU TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
THERE ARE NUMEROUS DEFECTS RELATED TO THE STEERING, THE LOW SPEED FORWARD AUTOMATIC BRAKING DOESNT WORK AND THE FRONT PEDESTRIAN BRAKING DOESNT WORK. THE LANE KEEP ASSIST WORKS MOST OF THE TIME BUT THE LANE DEPARTURE WARNING NEVER WORKS. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES AND EACH TIM EIM TOLD THAT SINCE THERE ARE NO COMPUTER ERROR CODES IT HAS TO BE WORKING. THEY EVEN GAVE ME PAPERWORK WHERE GM TELLS THE MECHANIC WHAT TO TELL THE CUSTOMERS WHO COMPLAIN THAT THESE FEATURES AREN'T WORKING.
CAR HAS LESS THAT 1000 MILES AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON 3 TIMES WITH A P0442
WHILE DRIVING, THE ENTIRE GPS NAVIGATION SHUTS OFF AND GIVES AN SD CARD ERROR MESSAGE. NOTHING ON THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN IS ON OR FUNCTIONING, INCLUDING SENSORS.
I HAVE A 2019 GMC TERRIAN WITH 2500 MILES. I WAS DRIVING IT AND THE CAR FLASHED LOW FUEL, CHECK TRANSMISSION AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING AND SHUT DOWN WHILE I WAS AS A HIGHWAY SPEED. I WAS FORTUNATELY OK, HOWEVER IT STRANDED ME AT A SPOT WITH MERGING TRAFFIC, NO SHOULDER AND NO POWER TO GET THE VEHICLE OUT OF THERE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO START UP SHORTLY, THEN I HAD TO DEAL WITH GETTING GOING AGAIN IN THIS PRECARIOUS SPOT.
STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON I-75. THE VEHICLE JUMPED FORWARD. DRIVER TRYING TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT IT WAS NOT WORKING, AUTO SENSORING HAD TAKEN OVER THE VEHICLE AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO REARENDED THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF IT PUSHING THAT VEHICLE INTO THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF THAT ONE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 GMC TERRAIN. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, THE AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM INDEPENDENTLY ACTIVATED AND THE SPEED DECELERATED TO 45 MPH. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE RETURNED TO CRUISE CONTROL MODE. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HALL BUICK GMC (LOCATED AT 3010 S SW LOOP 323, TYLER, TX 75701, (903) 771-2886) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 9-5110159147. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,473.
I PURCHASED MY 2019 TERRAIN DENALI ON 2/27/19. I BEGAN MY DRIVE INTO WORK THIS MORNING (3/4/19) AND MERGED ONTO THE FREEWAY AND SECONDS LATER HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSIVE SOUND, ONLY TO REALIZE THE FIRST HALF OF MY PANORAMIC MOONROOF WAS SHATTERED (SEE INSIDE PHOTO). SHARDS OF GLASS WERE FALLING INTO THE VEHICLE BUT IT HAD NOT COLLAPSED COMPLETELY AT THIS POINT. I DID NOT DRIVE UNDER ANYTHING THAT MAY HAVE FALLEN, THERE WERE NO OBJECTS IN THE ROAD THAT CAME UP TO HIT MY VEHICLE, THE GLASS JUST SHATTERED OUT OF NOWHERE. AFTER CALLS WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, I DECIDED TO ATTEMPT TO CLOSE THE INSIDE COVER FOR THE MOONROOF AND DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS ABLE TO DO SO SUCCESSFULLY BUT AS SOON AS I MOVED THE VEHICLE, YOU COULD HEAR THE GLASS COLLAPSE (SEE PICTURE).
LIFT GATE ON THIS VEHICLE OPENS TO A HEIGHT OF 69 INCHES . AT 74 INCHES I AM CONSTANTLY BANGING MY HEAD ON THE LIFT GATE. MY 2017 MODEL OPENED TO AT LEAST 76 INCHES WHICH IS MORE REASONABLE. I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS THIS IS A FLAW IN THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. THE MODEL THAT HAS A POWER LIFT GATE OPENS TO AROUND 76 INCHES.. A FULL 7 INCHES HIGHER THAN THE MANUAL ONE.. THE DEALERSHIP NEVER POINTED OUT THIS PROBLEM TO ME SEEING THAT I AM 74 INCHES TALL.
WHEN TRYING TO START VEHICLE WITH PUSH BUTTON IGNITION AND BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE DASH LIGHTS WOULD COME ON AND ERROR MESSAGES SUCH AS LOW BATTERY CAME UP ON DASH DISPLAY. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON 11/17/18. TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS OCCURRED WHERE THE CAR HAD TO BE JUMPED. ONE ON 11/21/18 AND 11/22/18. UNSURE IF AN ELECTRICAL WIRING ISSUE OR BATTERY ISSUE?
NEED THE OPTION TO DISABLE THE AUTO START FEATURE.
THE SHIFTER IS DANGEROUS. IT ALLOWS YOU TO INADVERTENTLY SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING. IN A CAR WITH A NORMAL SHIFTER, THE SHIFTER NEEDS TO BE PUSHED WITH SIGNIFICANT FORCE TO MOVE IT INTO NEUTRAL AND THE RESULTING THUNK WILL LET YOU KNOW IT HAPPENED. IN THIS CAR, SINCE IT IS AN ELECTRONIC BUTTON THAT CAN BE EASILY PRESSED, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE IT IS IN A LOCATION WHERE IT MIGHT GET HIT BY AN OBJECT LIKE A PURSE. THE DRIVER MAY WIND UP WITHOUT POWER AND THEN NOT HAVE AN EASY WAY TO REINGAGE DRIVE. ALSO, THERE IS NO PHYSICAL DIFFERENTIATION BETWEEN DRIVE AND REVERSE, WHICH CAN CAUSE CONFUSION IN LOW SPEED DRIVING INTERACTIONS IF A DRIVER DOES NOT LOOK AT THE BUTTONS. VEHICLES SHOULD HAVE A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO INDICATE WHEN THE VEHICLE GOES INTO NEUTRAL ABOVE A CERTAIN SPEED AS WELL AS HAVING THE PHYSICAL BUTTONS REPLACED WITH SOMETHING THAT OFFERS A TACTILE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REVERSE AND DRIVE.
VEHICLE CAN BE INADVERTENTLY BY EITHER A PASSENGER OR AN OBJECT PUT INTO NEUTRAL. NO ALERT OR CHIME IS MADE TO ALERT THE DRIVER THAT THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL, ONLY THE GEAR SELECTOR ON THE DASH OR THE LIGHT ON THE BUTTON INDICATES THAT IT IS IN NEUTRAL. IF SOMETHING IS COVERING THE SHIFTER, SUCH AS A BAG OR OTHER ITEM, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT AN ACCCIDENT MIGHT OCCUR BECUASE THE BAG OR ITEM MAY PRESS THE BUTTON, SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL CAUSE THE DRIVER TO BE CONFUSED AND NOT HAVE POWER TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. A CHIME SHOULD ALERT THE DRIVER THAT THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PUT IN NEUTRAL SO IT DRAWS ATTENTION TO THAT FACT. IN ANOTHER SCENARIO A SMALL CHILD THAT IS OLD ENOUGH TO SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT BUT NOT OLD ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND THE CONTROLS MIGHT PRESS THE BUTTON, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO MANEUVER OUT OF THE WAY OF AN IMPENDING COLLISION. I HAVE VERIFIED THIS POSSIBILITY BY PRESSING THE NEUTRAL BUTTON AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND IT IS VERY POSSIBLE FOR IT TO HAPPEN UNINTENTIONALLY. OTHER VEHICLES WITH SIMILAR SYSTEMS HAVE THE BUTTONS AND OR SHIFTER IN A PLACE WHERE INADVERTENT ENGAGEMENT OF THE BUTTON IS UNLIKELY. OTHER SCENARIOS - PEOPLE PLACING PHONES, BAGS ETC DURING THE COURSE OF DRIVING, AS ON A HIGHWAY MAY INTERFERE WITH SHIFTING IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION OR MAY CAUSE ONE BY PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL. AS IN AN HOUR IN ON A LONG DRIVE, SOMEONE BLOCKS THE SHIFTER BECAUSE THEY AREN'T IN NEED OF IT AT THE MOMENT AS THEY MIGHT BE WHILE PARKING OR MANEUVERING IN CITY TRAFFIC.
