Summary

Multiple times upon starting my Yukon I get a message on the dash that states Power steering disabled drive with care. I have no power steering until the computer has enough time to reset itself, usually about 15 min. This issue has been confirmed at our shop with the code being for the power steering. We have had it into the dealership and they found the same code but were unable to get it to recreate for them. It is not something that happens every day so I would have to leave it with them for a long period of time and that is not an option. This started happening within a couple weeks of buying the vehicle. It started for me in March 2020, with less than 17K miles on the truck.

Summary

Front strut assemblies (both left and right side) were found to be leaking during annual state safety inspection. Before the inspection determined the cause, the handling of the vehicle had noticeable deteriorated were the vehicle was bouncing excessively while driving and compromising the vehicle's handling and steering. Contacted two dealers, who stated this is a common problem on 2019 and newer Yukons. The GM parts warehouse had over 1900 replacement struts in stock! Per the dealer, the struct was a new design in 2019 and is electronically controlled. No warning lamps or messages were displayed. The original structs were stamped mfg in Mexico, the GM replacements are stamped manufactured in Poland.

Summary

I WAS TRAVELING STRAIGHT ON OHIO TURNPIKE WITH MY FAMILY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRUCK TIRES STARTED TO FEEL WEIRD. I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN A LITTLE BY PUMPING MY BREAKS, BUT THE WHEEL GAVE A SHARP PULL TO THE LEFT FOR NO REASON. I WAS TRAVELING APPROX 60-70 MPH WHEN I FELT A STRONG PULL TO THE LEFT HAND SIDE AND MY SEAT STARTED TO VIBRATE. I COULDN'T CONTROL THE STEERING AND INFORMED EVERYONE IN THE VEHICLE AT THAT TIME THAT WE WERE GOING TO CRASH. I AM POSITIVE THAT THIS DEFECT IN THE STEERING/BREAKING SYSTEM RESULTED IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. IF THAT'S NOT BAD ENOUGH, MY AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED AND I WAS INJURED AS A RESULT OF THE MVA. 7 PASSENGERS WEARING SEATBELTS. VEHICLE TOTALED. DAMAGED GUARD RAIL. SUBMITTED A DEFECT CLAIM RIGHT AWAY. I'VE DRIVEN SUVS SINCE I WAS ISSUED MY LICENSE AND NEVER ONCE HAVE I EVER FELT OUT OF CONTROL. IT WAS LIKE SLOW MOTION. I KNEW I WAS GOING TO CRASH AND THERE WAS NOTHIN G I COULD DO TO STOP IT. I HAVE SINCE BEEN AWARDED THE OHIO STATE TROOPERS AWARD FOR SEAT BELT SAFETY. I'VE REQUESTED AN INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE. ONLY AFTER THE ACCIDENT HAD IT BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT THE RIGHT TIRE HAD RECENTLY BEEN REPLACED. VEHICLE HAS SINCE BEEN RECALLED. I'M CERTAIN SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONED AND THAT'S WHY WE CRASHED. WE DROVE FROM MA TO MN AT THE END OF AUGUST TO ATTEND THE STATE FAIR, THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED AFTER LEAVING MN ON OUR WAY BACK HOME TO MA. ACCIDENT WAS WITNESSED. I WAS NOT CITED OR ISSUED A TICKET. NOT MY FAULT. JUST NEED SOMEONE WHO SPECIALIZES IN DEFECTS TO CONFIRM MY ALLEGATIONS. INCLUDED IN POLICE REPORT AS WELL AS MOTOR VEHICLE INSURANCE CLAIM

Summary

UNINTENDED SURGE OF ACCELERATION. WILL HAPPEN RANDOMLY ABOUT ONCE A WEEK WHEN UNDER SLIGHT ACCELERATION. IT FEELS LIKE THE ACCELERATOR GOES FULL THROTTLE FOR ONE SECOND, CAUSING A HUGE SURGE OF ACCELERATION, ALMOST PLOWING INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF US MULTIPLE TIMES. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED WHILE IN REVERSE. DEALER EXAMINED THE CAR AND SAID THERE ARE NO CODES STORED IN THE COMPUTER AND COULDN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WE GET THE CAR BACK TOMORROW AND MY FILE DRIVES IT WITH OUR 4 KIDS, SO THIS IS VARY SCARY (FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR FAMILY AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD). DEALER SUGGESTED IF WE DON'T TRUST THE CAR, WE CAN HAVE CAMERAS INSTALLED IN THE CAR TO CAPTURE THE PROBLEM SO WE CAN SHOW THEM. WE HAVE VERY LOW CONFIDENCE IN THIS CAR AS IT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THE FIST TIME WE NOTICED THIS WAS IN THE AM, SO THE ENGINE WAS STILL COLD. STARTED ACCELERATING SLIGHTLY DOWN OUR RESIDENTIAL STREET AND THE CAR WENT TO FULL THROTTLE ON IT'S OWN FOR ABOUT 1-2 SECONDS (RPMS SKY ROCKETED). THE SECOND TIME WAS ABOUT A WEEK LATER WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE KIDS TO SCHOOL IN THE MORNING (AGAIN WITH A COLD ENGINE). SHE PULLED OUT OF AN INTERSECTION AND THE HEAVY SUV WENT TO FULL THROTTLE ON ITS' OWN AGAIN, ALMOST CAUSING HER TO LOSE CONTROL. THE PROBLEM PRESENTS ITSELF ABOUT ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK. THE LAST TIME SHE WAS BACKING OUT IN REVERSE WHEN THIS OCCURRED, CAUSING HER TO ALMOST CRASH INTO SOMETHING. DEALER CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM BUT THE PROBLEM EXISTS. THE ONLY THING IN COMMON BETWEEN ALL OCCURRENCE IS THAT THE ENGINE WAS COLD, THE AC WAS ON, AND THAT WE WERE UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION WHEN THE SYMPTOM PRESENTED ITSELF.

Summary

USUALLY OCCURS WITHIN A FEW MINUTES OF STARTING THE CAR. WHILE IN GEAR AND CREATING FORWARD OR IN REVERSE, THE CAR SURGES AT A HIGH RPM ALL BY ITSELF, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. IT HAPPENS REGULARLY (ABOUT 2 TIMES A WEEK) BUT PROBLEM CANNOT BE RECREATED IN DEMAND. THE CAR HAS THE 6.2L MOTOR AND 10 SPEED TRANSMISSION. THIS DEFECT WILL END UP HURTING OR KILLING SOMEONE. MY WIFE STILL DRIVES AROUND THIS BRAND NEW VEHICLE, BUT I'M SCARED TO LET HER CONTINUE DRIVING IT.
