Only exit vehicle in P position. Service vehicle. I'm still under manufacturer warranty but from what I can see this is an ongoing issue with Volkswagen.
I have a 2019 Jetta R line Series, last year in the winter time the casing for the driver side mirror melted. I went 2 times to Volkswagen, and to other body and paint shops and no one has seen anything like this before? Finally I had to file a claim for Vandalism. I had to pay $750 to the body shop and it was repaired. All Summer, Spring, and Fall, it was fine. Well It happened again on the same side and almost exactly 1 year later from the first one. Took it Volkswagen after speaking Customer Service as an elevated evaluation. I was there for 2 hours, the conclusion again is that "It's an OUTSIDE INFLUENCE" I have done a lot of research and found that other makes and models have had this happen as well. All the other car makers gave the stock answer "OUTSIDE INFLUENCE"! How does this happen twice to the same car. I am on Disability, and hardly drive. Right now I only have 8 thousand miles on the car. I go to the supermarket park in handicap and come home and park in handicap. There is something wrong with this car and I'm afraid that something may catch on fire. The only other thing I can think of is that it has something to do with the main heater and defroster for the whole car. It got very cold here and I had to use both the heated and defroster. Now it has almost completely melted. -- [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The contact owns a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the front passenger’s side air bag system had erroneously deactivated while a passenger was seated in the seat. Occasionally, the system activated while no passenger was seated in the seat. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated, and no issue was found. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 900.
While using the lane keeping assistance function, driving at night, if a vehicle in the oncoming lane has bright lights or a larger vehicle with lights mounted higher, the system will pull sharply into the oncoming traffic and will, if not corrected, cross over the center line. This happens when the system shows two green lines indicating it is active and has identified the lane lines. The behavior is very consistent. I have not noticed a relationship between the behavior and speed.
dash goes dark a check engine start system comes up. I have no lights inside or outside no turn signals or brake lights no heat, the engine still runs and drives but with the windows not working I cannot use hand signals. I took it to a dealer in Bend Or they did not fix the problem. It happened again in Boise Id. that was fun.I called the dealer in Bend and have an Appointment the end of December does not help if it goes out again. This has happened several times since June? it is happening more and more
Low level oil It has problem with oil Vw cannot fixes
We were driving on highway 90 from Del Rio to San Antonio Texas when our sunroof exploded without any signs. No signs of impact or anything just exploded. Dealership declined any warranty coverage as they stated that something could have hit the sunroof weeks prior to the incident. There are no signs of impact on the sunroof and you can see the broken bits bending outward on the glass and not inward.
warning display for autonomous braking / vehicle too close has intermittently and randomly come on a few times I've noticed it when stopped or starting and it is too quick to see what the massage is. Last week my wife was driving on a straight country road with no one around when the breaks unexpectedly applied for about 3 seconds (probably less). The emergency braking display on dash was lit only during the brake application. There were no other vehicles in the area. No injuries; no further problems getting the car home. Dealer was called but did not understand or had not previously experienced this problem. We have since been driving with the system disabled.
The contact's wife owns a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact's wife started noticing that the passenger’s side headlight had started to dim while driving. His wife took the vehicle to a dealer where she was informed that the passenger’s side headlamp needed to be replaced. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V671000 (Exterior Lighting) which he linked to the failure; however, the dealer had informed him that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
The hill start assist is dangerous. Unlike most hill start assists, the one in this car doesn’t let go when you release the clutch, it waits about 2-3 seconds every time. I’ve had several incidents with this but just recently I was starting on a not very steep hill and forgot about the fact I have to compensate for this system, and tried to start normally and stalled. Thankfully the person behind me was my friend and was paying attention, but people don’t usually expect a car to sit there not moving once the brake lights go off, and then shudder to a stop because it has just stalled, and is possible for rear end collisions, as well as other more dangerous ones to happen depending on the situation. The system is working as designed; I’ve heard many complaints from other people that theirs does the same thing. It is dangerous as it doesn’t let you move for 2-3 seconds even if you really need to in an emergency situation.
Recurrent, ringing/squealing and grinding of brakes. Rotors and Brake pads are defective warp faster than normal even after being repaired. My 2019 VW jetta needed New brake rotors and the brake pads re-surfaced with only 24,107 miles on the odometer, 3 months later the brakes are ringing/squealing/and grinding again at 27,601 miles. It has only been 3,000 miles. The speed at which the brakes wear out on the VW jetta is excessive and most likely is a vehicle defect. I am now being told that the car needs new brake pads. The dealer has told me I drive the car too hard and brake too hard. I have never had this problem with any other brand of car I have owned in the past. The jetta has low mileage for all these break issues that are never fully fixed. I am awaiting a recall on this by volkswagen or some type of resolution as this seems to be a defect in quality craftmanship.
2019 VW Jetta SE 1.4 tsi *82000 miles *regular car maintenance There is a weird grinding/ whirring noise when accelerating around 1500-2500 rpm id say 2ed or 3ed gear so around 25-35mph. I havent got any warning lights and from what i can read online from numerous others with the same year make and model i have this is a known problem. Ive tried getting it into the dealership but they keep telling me they dont have any loaner cars for me to use because 2021 customer's are priority reason for the loaner is because it takes 3 days for them to be able to proform a full diagnosic on the car but i have took the car to the VW dealer in union city ga 2 times the first time they said the noise was the turbo wastegate and after 8 long hours in the waiting room i get the car back and the dar after the noise is back (on the paper from them the part number isnt a wastegate repair its a boost sensor and my research shows the turbo that VW puts on the car dont make just the wastegate to repair the whole turbo has to be replaced) the second time i took it up there for the same problem they lied about having a loaner car and made me waste a hour drive and gas and i had to ask for the day off to do this. The safty issue concerned with is that when this noise happens its like the car has low power the the specified rpm/mph and when it passes that threshold it takes off and jerks my head back to the headrest reguardless how much the gas pedal is being pushed with the sudden power it could cause me to rear end someone. Another thing im concerned about is that this problem could be due to another car component failing witch could become something serious to be a newer car i dont believe this should be happening ive tried to get it seen about and have had nothing but problems and feel like its getting worse is there anything that could be done to get this looked at and again there are numerous reports online about the same exact problem im having with the 2019 VW jetta se 1.4tsi
1999 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING OVER 25-35 MPH THEY HEAR A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER ADVISED THE TURBO WASTE GATE HAS PLAY IN IT WHICH IS COMMON IN THIS MODEL VEHICLE.
While driving our 2019 Volkswagen Jetta R-Line on East on I-40 we heard a loud explosion (like a gunshot) and glass rained down on the interior of our car from the sunroof. We pulled off the interstate at Exit 242, to call the Arkansas State Troopers. They arrived, checked the interior of the car for any object that could possibly have caused the damage and found nothing. They filed an incident report on our behalf D-08121-422 or D-08/21-422. Report will be ready in eight days.
Once I parked my 2019 VW Jetta, the dashboard had "YELLOW" triangle image. The error message displayed states: ONLY EXIT VEHICLE IN "P" POSITION. PLEASE SERVICE VEHICLE. I purchased this vehicle from Avis Rentals and Sales in 9/2020. I haven't had an issues with the vehicle and it didn't come with a service warranty. I entered my VIN and it states no recalls; however, I've checked and at some point there was a recall but it looks like my VIN was not entered.
The contact owns a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that the turbo was making an abnormal loud mechanical grinding sound. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken three times to the local dealer and the contact was informed that the vehicle was working as designed. Additionally, the contact was informed that the wastegate turbo had a lot of play and the wind was causing the abnormal sound. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 600.
THE TRANSMISSION GAVE OUT ONLY WITH 10,000 MILES ON IT. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND DID NOT WANT TO MAKE THE NECESSARY SHIFT CHANGES. GOT STUCK ON 3RD GEAR.
MY CAR LOST OIL EVERY 7K MILE ,I BOUGHT FOR BRAND NEW , I WENT IN DEALERSHIP MAMY MANY TIME AND THEY INSPECTED MY CAR AND RESULTS ARE WE CANNOT FIX THIS PROBLEMS TO MANY CARS VW 2019 HAS THIS PROBLEM SO MY CAR LOST 500GR ON 1000 K MILE , THEY JUST REFILL OIL , I NEVER HEART THAT TO PUT OIL ON TOP DOEST SINCE. I HAVE PAPER AND EVERYTHING BUT NO BODY CARE
AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE IT SIMPLY STALLS FROM THE BEGINNING. I HAVE TO CONTINUOUSLY PRESS THE GAS PETAL TO GET IT TO GO. ONCE IT IS RUNNING AND I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IT WILL STALL AGAIN WHEN I TRY TO GO FORWARD AND PROCESS REPEATS ITSELF. ALSO, ONCE IN MOTION SOMETIMES THE ENGINE ( SEEMS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION) SEEMS TO SLIP INTO ANOTHER GEAR. I AM PETRIFIED TO DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE OF THE STALLING. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT NUMEROUS AMOUNTS OF TIMES. SOMETIMES FROM A TAKEOFF POSITION IT SIMPLY WILL NOT GO. IT IS A HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE. I HAVE ALREADY REPORTED THE GRINDING NOISE THAT THE CAR MAKES BETWEEN 20 AND 40 MILES PER HOUR. I TOOK IT TO BE SERVICED FOR THE GRINDING NOISE AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. THEY RODE WITH ME ON ONE OCCASION AND SAW THAT IT STALLED BUT THEY STATED IT WAS BECAUSE I DID NOT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE THAT KIND OF ENGINE. I FEEL THAT I AM GOING TO DIE OR BE SERIOUSLY INJURED IN THIS VEHICLE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW AND PAID CASH. NO WORDS TO SAY HOW DEVASTATED I AM . AFTER ALL THE CONTROVERSY ABOUT THE GRINDING ENGINE, I DOUBT I COULD EVER EVEN TRADE IT IN FOR NEW ONE. THANK YOU
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE IS DEAF BUT HEARS LOW FREQUENCY SOUNDS. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT 40 MPH, WHEN HE HEARD AN ABNORMALLY LOUD SOUND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MOON ROOF GLASS HAD SHATTERED. THE VISOR COVER PREVENTED THE GLASS FROM FALLING INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF WHAT CAUSED THE MOON ROOF TO SHATTER. THE DEALER DORSCHEL VOLKSWAGEN (3817 W HENRIETTA RD, ROCHESTER, NY 14623) WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO FILE A CLAIM WITH HIS INSURANCE COMPANY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE MOON ROOF WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,550.
THE PLASTIC CAPS ON SIDE MIRRORS (BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER) ARE INCREDIBLY UNSTABLE AND ARE AT RISK OF FLYING OFF OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY DURING A WINDY DAY WHEN THE PLASTIC CAP FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR FLEW OFF. THE MIRROR/CAP HAD NO PREVIOUS DAMAGE AND WAS NOT LOOSE IN ANY WAY, SO THERE IS NO REASON THAT IT SHOULD HAVE JUST FLOWN OFF. THE PASSENGER SIDE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN INVOLVED IN A MINOR ACCIDENT, AND WHEN I HAD THE PIECE REPAIRED, IT WAS SIMPLY SNAPPED ON WITH NO SEALANT, AND CONTINUED TO FALL OFF AFTER REPAIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING TO WARM UP THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT WINDSHIELD STARTED TO CRACK IN THE CENTER OF THE GLASS EXTENDING TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BROOKLYN VOLKSWAGEN SERVICE CENTER (599 E 56TH ST, BROOKLYN, NY 11203) WHO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE STATING IT WAS BECAUSE OF OUTSIDE SOURCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,700.
BOUGHT CAR NEW MARCH 2020. BACK COVER OF DRIVER SIDE MIRROR CAME OFF IN APRIL 2020. JANUARY 15, 2021 WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH. THE CAR BEGAN TO JERK AND SPUTTER. EVERY ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE WOULD CAUSE THE CAR TO JERK MORE. AFTER EXITING THE INTERSTATE I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE 25 MPH TO NEAREST DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD CYLINDER 1 WAS DEAD AND OTHERS ARE MISFIRING. I HAVE SINCE BEEN TOLD THAT SOMETHING BROKE OFF AND WAS SUCKED INTO CYLINDER 1 DAMAGING CYLINDER 1. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A NEW ENGINE SINCE JANUARY. I HAVE BEEN REPEATEDLY TOLD IT IS ON BACK ORDER WITH NO ETA. IT IS NOW 2/22/21
FEBRUARY 13 2021 I WAS DRIVING MY CAR BACK HOME FROM A HIKE GOING DOWN A GRID I HAD TO BREAK BECAUSE I WAS APPROACHING CARS AND MY WHEELS STARTED TO SHAKE. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP SHIP TO GET THE BREAKS INSPECTED EARLY MORNING. FOUR HOURS LATER I GET A CALL SAYING THAT MY BREAK PADS WERE BURNT AND THAT THE ROTORS WERE WARPING AND HAD HOT SPOTS. I'VE HAD THE CAR FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND THEY ARE BURNT ALREADY?? NOT EVEN MY DADS GMC THAT HE'S HAD FOR 7 YEARS HASN'T CHANGED THE BREAKS PADS SINCE HE BOUGHT IT. VW IS CHARGING ME $700+ TO CHANGE THE BREAKS PADS AND ROTORS BECAUSE IT'S' WEAR AND TEAR' AT LEAST THAT WHAT THEY TOLD ME. I'M FEED UP HAVING TO TAKE MY CAR IN EVERY COUPLE MONTHS. I'VE RECENTLY HAD TO TAKE IT BC THE CAR WAS LOW ON OIL A MONTH AND A HALF AFTER I HAD JUST TAKEN IT FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THEY SAID THAT THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF BURNT OIL OR LEAKS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT'S HAS HAPPENED. LET'S NOT FORGET THAT WHEN I TURN TO THE RIGHT THE WHEEL FEES LIKE IT'S HITTING SOMETHING AND THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES.
CARS FRONT ASSIST WOULD ALARM WHILE DRIVING ON ROAD LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO HIT SOMETHING THEN IT STARTED SAYING FRONT ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE. SENSORS ARE MALFUNCTIONING AND VW IS NOT COVERING THE COST TO FIX AND TELLING CAR OWNERS TO TURN OFF FRONT ASSIST WHEN TURNING CAR ON. CAUSES CAR TO BRAKE OUT OF NOWHERE FOR NO REASON
I TOOK A CAR BRAND NEW 2019 AFTER 5K MILES LIGHT ON DISPLAY ' PLEASE CHECK OIL LEVEL' I WENT DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME WHEN YOU LIGHTS ITS ON STOP HERE AND WE FUEL IT QUARTER OIL...SO NOW I SEE DEALERSHIP EVERY 5 K MILE AND EVERY 10K MILE WHEN I CHANGE OIL... NO BODY CARE THIS IS DISRESPECT FOR COSTUMER NEVER BUY VOLKSWAGEN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT WINDSHIELD DEFOGGER FAILED TO DEFOG THE WINDSHIELD AND THE COOLANT LEVEL NEVER REACHED NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BILL JACOBS VOLKSWAGEN (2211 AURORA AVE, NAPERVILLE, IL 60540) HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGES WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WITH NOTHING ELSE ON THE ROAD. DOOR LOCKED ON HER AND SHE HAD TO CLIMB THOUGHT THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. RECEIVED SEVERAL MORE MALFUNCTION ALERTS. TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP (200 MILE ROUND TRIP). FIRST I WAS TOLD THE CODES WERE CAUSED BY A NON-VW DIAGNOSTICS COMPUTER. THEN, THEY SAID IT WAS A DEAD BATTERY IN THE FOB. THEN THEY SAID IT WAS BECAUSE THE CAR WAS FILTHY. IT WAS SNOWING AND I HAD JUST DRIVEN OVER 100 MILES THROUGH SNOW ON A SALTED ROAD. OF COURSE IT WAS DIRTY. BUT, IT WAS CLEAN WHEN I LEFT THE HOUSE. THEY REFUSED TO DO ANY WORK EXCEPT TO CHANGE THE BATTERY IN MY FOB. I CHANGED THE BATTERY IN MY WIFE'S FOB WHEN I GOT HOME. I ALSO CLEANED THE CAR INSIDE AND OUT. AS SOON AS MY WIFE WENT BACK TO WORK, ALL THE CODES CAME BACK ON. WHEN THE BRAKES AUTOMATICALLY COME ON WHILE DRIVING ON ICY ROADS, THIS COULD BE A MAJOR PROBLEM. ALSO READ ABOUT A POSSIBLE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ABOUT THE BRAKE ISSUES AND MORE.
THE BRAKES AFTER SITTING NO MATTER LENGTH MAKE HORRIBLE NOISE, AND ARE VERY STIFF. IT CAN BE FIVE MINUTES OR OVER NIGHT. THIS IS NOT SAFE. I TOLD THE DEALER WITHIN DAYS OF PURCHASING.
VEHICLE HAS 30,000 MILES ON IT AND THE CHECK COOLANT LEVEL WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND FIRST WAS TOLD IT HAD A COOLANT LEAK AND NEEDED A NEW THERMOSTAT. A LITTLE LATER THE DEALERSHIP THEN APOLOGIZED AND SAID THAT WAS FOR A DIFFERENT VEHICLE AND OURS WAS JUST LOW ON COOLANT. I WAS TOLD THIS IS NOT ABNORMAL AS FLUIDS NEED TO TOPPED OFF PERIODICALLY.
BRAKES WERE MAKING NOISE TOOK INTO DEALERSHIP TO BE CHECK OUT AND WAS INFORMED FRONT PADS LOW ON PAD LIFE AND ROTORS WARPED AND NEED REPLACEMENT ASAP. ROTORS WARPED TO THE POINT OF NEEDING REPAIR, AT 30000 MILES. THE CAR IS KEPT IN ARIZONA IN A DRY CLIMATE, NO RAIN, NO HILLS, MOSTLY HIGHWAY DRIVING WITH LITTLE BRAKING AND FOR THE LAST 8 MONTHS, MINIMAL USE DUE TO STAY AT HOME ORDERS. DEALER HAS NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THESE PARTS FAILED WHEN THEY SHOULD LAST TO 60000 MILES AT LEAST. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNHEARD OF ON A VEHICLE THAT IS NOT EVEN 2 YEARS OLD AND ONLY 30000 MILES. VOLKSWAGEN NEEDS TO DO SOME SERIOUS RESEARCH AND POSSIBLY ISSUE A RECALL. DEALERSHIP QUOTED $553.00 FOR FRONT BRAKE PAD & ROTORS REPLACEMENT...
NOISE ON DRIVELINE 25 TO 35 UNDER LIGHT THROTTLE ESPECIALLY IN ECO MODE. SOUNDS LIKE METALLIC RATTLE. MOMENTARILY LOSES POWER AT THAT TIME. ALSO, WHEN IN ANY SELECTION EXCEPT SPORT MODE IT DOESN'T SHIFT DOWN UNY GEARS UNTIL ALMOST WOTH THROTTLE FLOORED. THEN SHIFTS DOWN 2 OR 3 GEARS AND RACES AT A FAST SPEED.
TRANSMISSION MAKING A RATTLING NOISE, LIKE LOOSE METAL. ENGINE LAGS POWER BETWEEN 35 - 45 MPH. THEN THE NOISE FADES AWAY. ITS MORE NOTICEABLE ON ECO MODE. VOLKSWAGEN IS AWARE ABOUT THIS SITUATION, THEY HAVE SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE TORQUE CONVERTER TO HELP THE POWER LOSE ISSUE. ALSO THE TRANSMISSION SEEPS OIL AT THE MATING SURFACE WITH THE ENGINE. DEALER SAYS IT'S NORMAL NOISE FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND THE OIL LEAK IS NOT BIG ENOUGH FOR THEM TO FIX IT. I DON'T THINK THAT'S NORMAL, I HAVEN'T HAD A CAR THAT MADE A NOISE LIKE THAT, IT'S NERVE WRECKING I DON'T WANT MY YOUNG SON GET STUCK ON THE FREEWAY ITS DANGEROUS
STARTED VEHICLE IN MORNING WENT BACK INSIDE TO GRAB BAGS AND WATER WHILE CAR WARMED UP. CAME BACK AND SAT IN DRIVERS SEAT. CAR CENTER SCREEN NOTATED - AUTO/STOP ERROR AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. I PUT CAR IN REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF DRIVEWAY. NO BRAKES AT ALL. I HAD TO PUSH DOWN ON BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AS I COULD TO STOP CAR. LUCKILY WAS NOT OUT OF DRIVEWAY. PUT CAR IN PARK AND TURNED OFF AND TURNED CAR BACK ON. SAME FAULTS CAME ON DASHBOARD AND SCREEN. AS WELL AS AIRBAG FAULT.
TRANSMISSION IS MAKING THIS AWFUL GRINDING NOISE AND WHEN IT MAKES THE NOISE THE VEHICLE HAS LITTLE POWER TO ACCELERATE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THIS WAS NORMAL. IVE NEVER HAD A CAR MAKE SUCH AN AWFUL NOISE FROM THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING IT TO LOSE POWER. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE 2000 MILES IT NEVER DID THAT PRIOR TO THE 2K MILE MARK. THE CAR HAS 6800 MILES ON IT AND IT DOES THIS EVERYTIME I DRIVE NOW.
ROTORS WARPED TO THE POINT OF NEEDING REPAIR, AT UNDER 26000 MILES.
FRONT PASSENGER DOOR PANELS RATTLE A LOT WHEN PLAYING MUSIC. MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT THE RATTLING IS FROM THE DOOR OR SOME OTHER SAFETY CRITICAL COMPONENT OF THE CAR
I HAVE ABOUT 14, 000 MILES ON THE CAR AND IT BURNS THROUGH ENGINE OIL VERY QUICKLY. SOMETIMES I CAN EVEN SMELL THE BURNING OIL. TWICE THE ADD OIL LIGHT HAS COME ONE. IT SEEMS THAT A CAR THIS NEW SHOULDN'T BURN OIL LIKE THIS. DEALER SAYS THIS IS NORMAL. COULD IT BE THAT THE OIL IS TOO THIN? I HAVE NO IDEA, BUT FRUSTRATING.
VEHICLE MAKES AN INFREQUENT AND INTERMITTENT GROWL AT ABOUT 25 MPH UNDER MILD ACCELERATION.
HAS HAD A GRINDING SOUND IN TRANSMISSION BETWEEN 35-45 MPH. WHEN THIS SOUND IS HEARD THE VEHICLE LOOSES POWER AND IS VERY RELUCTANT TO DOWNSHIFT, SINCE DAY ONE. IT CAN BE HEARD IN ANY DRIVING MODE BUT IS WORSE IN "NORMAL" AND ALMOST NOT DRIVABLE IN "ECO". MANY HAVE SUBMITTED THIS ISSUE, AND HAVE RECEIVE THE SAME RESPONSE FROM THE DEALERSHIP, "IT'S NORMAL" BUT IT IS ANYTHING BUT NORMAL FOR A CAR TO BEHAVE THIS WAY.

MY CAR IS BURNING OIL AND RUNNING VERY WELL BEFORE THE 10K RECOMMENDED INTERVALS. MY CAR IS ONLY 1 YEAR OLD AND EVERY MONTH I HAVE TO ADD A HALF A QUART OF OIL SO I DONT FORGET TO CHECK AND RUN OUT OF OIL AND GET THE OIL LIGHT. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VEHICLE BURNING OIL. VW SAYS ITS NORMAL TO RUN LOW AFTER 1000 MILES...?? HOW IS THIS ACCEPTABLE? LUCKILY I CHANGE MY OIL MORE FREQUENTLY THAN EVERY 10K MILES AND NOTICED IT WAS 2 QUARTS LOW.
I WAS GETTING READY TO PULL OUT OF TACO BELL (JUST LEFT DRIVE THRU WINDOW AND PULLING UP TO CROSS THE STREET) WHEN THE ERROR MESSAGE "ONLY EXIT VEHICLE IN P POSITION" & "SERVICE VEHICLE SOON" POPPED UP AND HAS THE ORANGE TRIANGLE(WITH EXCLAMATION MARK IN IT) LIT UP
INTERMITTENT SMOKE SMELL COMING FROM THE LF DOOR. (10 DAYS AGO DEALER SAID OPERATING PER DESIGN AND INTENT WHEN COMPARED TO SIMILAR OR LIKE VEHICLE.) WINDOW SEAL HAS COME COME OFF 4 TIMES. LAST NIGHT CAR HAD BEEN PARKED AROUND 5AM AND WHEN I WENT OUT TO THE CAR AROUND 5:30PM THE POWER WINDOW SWITCH HAD MELTED DESTROYING THE SWITCH AND THE LF DOOR PANEL.
I PURCHASED THE 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA IN DECEMBER OF 2018. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS ROUGHLY 50K MILES. WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED IT HAD 38K MILES WHEN I FIRST NOTICED A WEIRD SMELL COMING FROM MY AIR VENTS. I WAS CURRENTLY DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I NOTICED THAT SMELL, PULLED OVER AND OPENED THE HOOD TOO THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE BATTERY HAD EXPLODED!! I RIGHT AWAY CONTACTED VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER CARE AND NOTIFIED THEM OF THE INCIDENT THAT HAD JUST OCCURRED TO ME. THEY MENTIONED I HAD BUMPER TOO BUMPER WARRANTY, SO I TOOK IN THE CAR TOO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE THEY MENTIONED THAT THE BATTERY WAS NO LONGER COVERED. THE NEW BATTERY THAT WAS REPLACED ISN'T THE ORIGINAL ONE THAT CAME WITH THE CAR WHEN PURCHASED. I ALSO MENTIONED TOO THE SERVICE TECH THAT AIR BAG , ABS, BRAKE BOOSTER, CPU APPEARED ON MY SPEEDOMETER. THE DEALERSHIP HAD THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 2WEEKS AND ALSO NOTICED THAT THE ACID FROM THE BATTERY HAD MELTED DOWN THE WIRING HARNESS, AC LINES, AND SUSPENSION COMPONENTS. I'M CURRENTLY STILL DEALING WITH CUSTOMER CAR BECAUSE NOTHING WAS DONE FROM THEIR END, EVERYDAY THE CAR HAS A NEW ISSUE, I CALL AND ALL THEY SAY IS TOO TAKE IT BACK AND THEY'LL TAKE A LOOK AT IT. I PURCHASED THIS NEW VEHICLE SO I WOULDN'T BE DEALING WITH ANY OF THESE PROBLEMS BUT IT TURNED OUT TO BE WORST!! I NO LONGER WANT TOO DEAL WITH THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I GET NOTHING OUT OF IT, I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF ANYTHING OF THIS COULD HELP ME OUT IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE!
GRINDING / SCRAPING NOISE SHIFTING FROM AROUND 3RD TO 4TH GEAR WHEN TRAVELING AT LOW SPEEDS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE'S AN EXPOSED METAL PIPE ABOVE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THAT CAUSED THE CONTACT TO BURN HIS FEET MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VILLAGE VOLKSWAGEN OF CHATTANOOGA, 6001 INTERNATIONAL DR, CHATTANOOGA, TN 37421, AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT'S THE WAY THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000.
SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN MARCH OF 2020, THERE HAS BEEN A SCRAPING NOISE AS IF METALS WERE GRINDING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. IT HAPPENS WITH SLOW ACCELERATION BETWEEN 20MPH AND 35MPH. POSSIBLE SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 3RD AND 5TH GEAR. THIS NOISE HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I HAVE BOUGHT THE CAR NEW FROM THE DEALER. IT WAS NEW WITH 9,000 MILES AS IT WAS BEING USED AS A LOANER CAR (WAITING TO BE SOLD.)
2 SECOND DELAY FOR TRANSMISSION TO DOWNSHIFT WHEN PASSING CARS. DANGEROUS WHEN PASSING CARS ON 2 LANE HIGHWAY DUE TO LACK OF POWER. .
RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2019 VW JETTA AND HAVING THE SAME ISSUES THAT MANY OF THE OTHER OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING. UNDER LOW ACCELERATION IT STALLS AND MAKES A GRINDING, WHIRRING SOUND BELOW 20-30 MPH. IT MAKES ME TIMID TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED PEOPLE TO REAR END ME DUE TO THE STALL. IT FALLS ON ITS FACE WHEN YOU NEED IT TO MOVE. I'M CONCERNED AS THE NOISE HAS GOTTEN LOUDER THE LAST FEW MONTHS. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP YET, BUT NOW UPON READING ALL OF THE CONCERNS, IT SEEMS TO BE A WASTE OF TIME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER.
USB CONNECTION IS REALLY LOOSE AND MY CORD ALWAYS FALLS OUT OR LOOSES CONNECTION
REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELT CAME UNBUCKLED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AFTER HITTING THE BREAKS TO STOP UNEXPECTEDLY. MY DAUGHTER WENT FLYING INTO THE BACK OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, NOW THE BUCKLE WILL NOT KEEP A LATCH.
HELLO ON AUG 21, 2020 WE PURCHASED A USED JETTA FROM NAPLETON VOLKSWAGEN OF SANFORD. AT THE TIME WE ASKED IF THERE WERE ANY OPEN RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE AND THE SALESPERSON RESPONDED NO. WE DID A VIN SEARCH ON THE VEHICLE AT YOUR WEB SITE AND WE SEE NO OPEN RECALLS. WE CALLED VOLKSWAGEN CORPORATE AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THERE ARE NO OPEN RECALLS. THE SALES MANAGER FROM THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN CALLING ALMOST DAILY, STATING THAT WE NEED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE AS IT IS UNDER RECALL AND VOIKSWAGEN FINANCIAL WILL NOT PROCEED WITH THE FINANCING UNTIL THE RECALL IS FIXED. I DON'T UNDERTAND WHY THEY ARE SAYING THAT THERE IS AN UNSATISFIED RECALL MEASURE ON THE VEHICLE WHEN I CAN'T FIND SUCH RECALL. WHEN I ASKED THE SALES MANAGER FOR THE RECALL NOTICE HE REFUSES TO PROVIDE IT. I'M VERY CONCERNED THAT THAT DEALER HAD THE VEHICLE IN THEIR POSSESION, RECEIVED RECALL NOTICES, MARKED THEM AS COMPLETE AND NEVER ACTUALLY REPAIRED THAT VEHICLE. HOW I CAN I BE SURE THAT ALL RECALLS HAVE NOT BEEN REPAIRED. WHEN I AS FOR THE SERVICE HISTORY OF THE VEHICLE THE SALES MANAGER SAYS HE WILL PROVIDE BUT HAS NOT.

IT CAN BE HEARD IN ANY DRIVING MODE BUT IS WORSE IN "NORMAL" AND ALMOST NOT DRIVABLE IN "ECO". I JUST PURCHASED A 2019 JETTA R LINE AND SINCE DAY ONE I HAVE A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSFER CASE OR THE TRANSMISSION. IT'S ALWAYS THERE AT AROUND 50KM/PER HOUR FOR ABOUT 2 SEC. LIKE MANY OTHERS SAID IT DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT FOR ME. I HOPE VW WILL TAKE ACTION AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. ON TOP OF THAT I LOST ALL MY RADIO PRESETS AND THE SCREEN HAS STARTED TO FREEZE. I ALSO NOTICE A KNOCKING SOUND IN THE REAR SUSPENSION OVER NORMAL BUMP
I SUSPECT THAT MY 2019 VW JETTA COMPUTER SYSTEM/CAR WAS HACKED/DRIVEN REMOTELY ON 12/3/2019 THAT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT (PHOTOS ATTACHED) THAT LED TO MY CAR BEING A TOTAL LOSS. I SUSTAINED INJURIES AND WAS TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO THE LOCAL ER FROM THE ACCIDENT. THIS CASE IS STILL INVOLVED IN COURT PROCEEDINGS AS OF TODAY. I WAS DRIVING HOME AND MY CAR SPEED ACCELERATED WITHOUT ME BEING ON THE GAS AND MY BREAKS WERE NOT WORKING. WITHOUT TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL I DROVE OFF TO THE RIGHT HITTING A PARKED CAR. THE POLICE REPORT INDICATED THAT AFTER IMPACT WITH PARKED CAR #1, I ROLLED BACK 55 FEET AND HIT ANOTHER PARKED CAR ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE STREET. I DID NOT THINK ANY OF THIS WAS POSSIBLE UNTIL I WAS READING ABOUT CAR HACKING AND CARS BEING DRIVEN REMOTELY. I ALSO DID NOT THINK THAT IT WAS POSSIBLE WITH THE 'IMPACT SAFETY FEATURES' ON A VW JETTA, I COULD POSSIBLY ROLL BACKWARD AFTER THE IMPACT OF PARKED CAR #1? I AM LOOKING TO HAVE THIS ISSUE INVESTIGATED. I AM ALSO SENDING INFORMATION TO THE FBI INTERNET CRIME COMPLAINT CENTER.
WHAT I'M MOST CONCERNED ABOUT IS I'M UNABLE TO OPEN MY DOORS FROM THE INSIDE SOMETIMES, IT DOESN'T HAPPEN OFTEN BUT WHEN IT DOES IT'S FRUSTRATING AND UNSETTLING. IF I POSITION MY AIR VENT TOWARDS THE DOOR LATCH AND BLAST MY AIR CONDITIONING IT WILL OPEN AFTER A FEW MINUTES. MY LOCAL DEALER HAS TRIED TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM BUT HAS BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL, AS OF 42 DAYS AGO, I HAVE TRIED TO GET AN APPOINTMENT WITH A LOANER AT MULTIPLE DEALERS AND HAVE ALSO BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL. ASIDE FROM THIS ISSUE, MY CAR HAS ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH IT'S WINDSHIELD WIPERS GOING OFF BY THEMSELVES AND WITH THE WINDOWS SEEMINGLY GETTING STUCK ON SOMETHING GOING UP OR DOWN AND WILL EITHER NOT CLOSE OR OPEN DURING WORSE EPISODES.
FIRSTLY, THERE IS SOME GRINDING NOISE THAT COMES FROM THE POWERTRAIN/ ENGINE WHEN THE CAR SPEED INCREASES FROM 24-35MPH. THIS NOISE IS VERY SCARY AS IF SOME METAL PIECES ARE BEING SCRAPED TOGETHER. WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALER, HE INFORMED ME THAT THIS NORMAL WHICH DEFINITELY ISN'T. SECONDLY, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR RATTLES WHEN LISTEN TO BASS HEAVY MUSIC. WHEN REPORTED TO THE DEALER THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT IS THE WAY HOW THE CAR DOOR WAS BEING BUILT. BUT THIS ISN'T SOME REASON THAT THEY WOULD GIVE FOR A PERSON BUYING A BRAND NEW CAR. BOTH THE ISSUES WHERE HAPPENING SINCE THE FIRST WEEK AFTER I PURCHASED MY CAR.
THE TRANSMISSION HAS ALWAYS GROUND GOING INTO REVERSE. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE JETTA'S. WHILE DRIVING, I WILL PUT IT INTO 1ST GEAR AND START MOVING, AND THEN IT WILL EITHER GET "STUCK" INTO FIRST OR SECOND GEAR, I CAN TAKE IT OUT OF GEAR BUT CANNOT ENGAGE ANOTHER GEAR. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, YOU CAN SMELL THE CLUTCH BURNING. TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ASSURED ME MY TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH WERE FINE. DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, ONLY ABOUT ONCE A MONTH AND IT HAPPENS IN VARYING WEATHER CONDITIONS. NO TWO TIMES WERE THE CONDITIONS THE SAME. I HAVE NOT CHANGED MY DRIVING, I AM NOT HARD ON MY VEHICLES. MY 2014 FIESTA ST HAD THE STOCK TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH UNTIL I SOLD IT IN 2019, NEVER SLIPPED OR GROUND INTO GEARS, ALONG WITH MY 6 OTHER MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLES I'VE OWNED. I FEEL LIKE VOLKSWAGEN JUST DOESN'T WANT TO FIX THEIR TERRIBLE TRANSMISSIONS AND CLUTCHES AND TRIES TO BLAME IT ON USER ERROR.
THE CLUTCH IS WEARING OUT IN 6,000 MILES. THE ORIGINAL CLUTCH WAS REPLACED AROUND 6,000 MILES. THE SECOND CLUTCH IS NOW IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT AFTER ANOTHER 6,000 MILES.
2019 JETTA S. BEGAN STALLING AFTER 6 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW WITH 62 MILES. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO DEALER 09/27/2019 AND THEY STATED IT WAS FINE NO ISSUES COULD BE FOUND. ON 05/18/2020 THE CAR STALLED AGAIN IT HAD 15452 MILES ON IT. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY KEPT THE CAR UNTIL 07/25/2020 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY STATED IT WAS FIXED. ON 07/30/2020 THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN, AND THIS TIME THE BRAKES FAILED AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND I LOST CONTROL AND CRASHED INTO A CENTER MEDIAN WITH LARGE BOULDERS IN IT. IF THEY WERE NOT THERE I WOULD HAVE CONTINUED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I WAS TRAVELING AT 45 MPH WHEN THE IMPACT OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE SAFETY SYSTEMS DID NOT DEPLOY BECAUSE THE CARS ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING AT THE TIME OF IMPACT.
TWICE NOW ON CITY STREETS ACCELERATING FROM STOPS TO EITHER GO STRAIGHT OR TURN LEFT THE CAR HAS KIND OF STALLED OR LOST POWER CAUSING POTENTIAL CRASHES WITH ONCOMING AND REAR VEHICLES.
THE EIGHT SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION MAKES A LOUD GRINDING NOISE IN THE MID GEAR RANGE WHEN UNDER ANY SORT OF LOAD. OCCASIONALLY THIS NOISE PREVENTS A PROPER DOWNSHIFT UPHILL, PREVENTING THE PROPER AMOUNT OF POWER TO BE DISTRIBUTED, AND AS A RESULT THE CAR SLOWS. THE LACK OF POWER, AS A RESULT OF A DELAYED DOWNSHIFT AND GRINDING OF THE TRANSMISSION, CAN ALSO BE NOTED WHEN TRYING TO OVERTAKE ON A HIGHWAY. WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THE THROTTLE IS DEPRESSED TO SPEED UP, THE TRANSMISSION GRINDS AND PRODUCES POWER ONLY AFTER A DELAY. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHEN TRAFFIC IS CLOSELY FOLLOWING BEHIND MY VEHICLE. IT HAPPENS IN ALL DRIVING MODES (NORMAL, SPORT, ECO, CUSTOM). THE NOISE IS VERY DISTRACTING TO THE DRIVER. VW HAS STATED THIS IS A NORMAL NOISE, AND OFFERS NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. THE NOISE BEGAN WITH ONLY 150 MILES ON THE CAR, AND HAS BEEN GETTING WORSE EVER SINCE. PLEASE CONDUCT AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS DEFECT.
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING MY NEW 2019 VW JETTA I HEARD A GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE BETWEEN 20 AND 40 MILES PER HOUR FROM A STOP. I DO NOT HEAR IT ONCE THE CAR IS GOING. AFTER ONLY 1200 MILES IT IS ALSO LOW ON OIL. IT IS NOT EVEN DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE YET.CAR WAS PURCHASED DECEMBER 29TH OF 2019.
MAKES A LOUD GRINDING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING. DEALERSHIP TRIES TO SAY IT'S NORMAL. FEEL VIBRATIONS IN GAS PEDAL. HAPPENS USUALLY BETWEEN 20-40 MPH. RPM GAUGE APPEARS TO STICK. LOOKED UP COMPLAINTS AND THERE ARE SEVERAL MATCHING WHAT I AM EXPERIENCING. A CERTIFIED MECHANIC NOT ASSOCIATED WITH DEALERSHIP THINKS IT'S A BAD TORQUE CONVERTER OR TRANSMISSION ISSUE. VW SAYS IT'S NORMAL AND REFUSES TO FIX IT.
WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION, AND THE AISIN TRANSMISSION IS SHIFTING, THE VEHICLE MAKES A SCRAPING OR GRINDING NOISE FROM THE POWERTRAIN (TRANSMISSION) AND IT ALSO HESITATES WHEN STOPPING AND TAKING OFF AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN.
THE CAR IS BRAND NEW WITH 6317 MILES. DRIVING HOME AND IT PINGS ON THE PANEL WITH THE OIL SENSOR LIGHT OIL IS LOW. WE PULL OVER AND CHECK THERE ARE NO LEAKS. NO REASON FOR THIS IN A BRAND NEW CAR.LIGHT STAYED ON.WE WERE ON A HIGHWAY 60 MILES FROM HOME. CALL DEALER HE SAID BRING IT IN THEY ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH THEM USING OIL. THIS IS AN ISSUE.
I HAVE HAD MANY ISSUES WITH THE KEY FOB. IT IS OFTEN VERY DIFFICULT TO LOCK OR UNLOCK THE CAR UNLESS I AM WITHIN 5 FEET OF IT AND THE CAR DOES NOT RESPOND WELL TO THE FOB SIGNAL. ADDITIONALLY, ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHILE THE FOB HAS BEEN IN MY POCKET, DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN OF THE FOB, THE TRUNK HAS INADVERTENTLY OPENED UP. NOT ONLY ARE THESE ISSUES A NUISANCE, BUT THEY CAN BE DANGEROUS IF THEY HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING OR IN ANOTHER SITUATION. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE BOTH BEING STATIONARY AND WHILE DRIVING.
I HAVE A 2019 VW JETTA GLI BOUGHT NEW FROM VW DEALER. WHEN YOU FIRST START THE CAR IN THE MORNING OR AFTER ITS BEEN SITTING, BASICALLY COLD, IT IDLES VERY ROUGH. THE WHOLE CAR VIBRATES AND SHAKES. AFTER THE CAR WARMS UP THIS GOES AWAY. THE RIDE OF THE CAR FEELS LIKE THERE IS NO SUSPENSION. YOU FEEL EVERY BUMP IN THE ROAD. I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN MOTION SICK FROM A VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. THIS CAR GIVES ME MOTION SICKNESS EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT. I HAVE HAD OTHERS DRIVE THE CAR AND REPORT THE SAY THING. I HAVE HAD PASSENGERS IN THE CAR AND THEY CAN'T BELIEVE HOW HARD THE RIDE IS. I HAVE TRIED ALL THE MODES ECO, NORMAL, SPORT AND THEY ALL HAVE A HORRIBLE RIDE QUALITY. THE WORST THING IS I WAS DRIVING THE CAR HOME AFTER WORK AND WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT THE A/C STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR. AFTER COMING OFF THE RED LIGHT I STARTED SMELLING FUEL COMING FROM THE A/C SYSTEM. THE A/C SYSTEM WAS ON MAX A/C WITH THE RECIRC ON, SO WAS NOT ON FRESH AIR. PULLED OVER, OPENED THE HOOD AND SAW FIRE COMING FROM BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND FIREWALL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I DROPPED THE HOOD AND THE FIRE BALL SHOT OUT THE SIDE PASSENGER SIDE RIGHT BEHIND THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE. THE SIDE AND UNDER CARRIAGE OF THE CAR WAS ON FIRE AND IS BURNT UP. I CONTACTED THE DEALER THEY SAID TO DRIVE IT IN AND THEY WILL TAKE A LOOK AT IT. DRIVE IT IN???? AFTER IT WAS ON FIRE??? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM FEATURE WAS DEFECTIVE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FORWARD COLLISION SYSTEM FAILED TO PROVIDE AN ALERT WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS IN CLOSE PROXIMITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO STONE MOUNTAIN VOLKSWAGEN (3500 STONE MOUNTAIN HWY, SNELLVILLE, GA 30078) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
I WAS DRIVING WHEN I WENT TO SHIFT FROM SECOND TO THIRD THE CLUTCH WOULD NOT RETURN. HAD THE CAR FOR LESS THAN 400 MILES THE CAR HAD ALREADY 2600 MILES ON IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT. I WAS ASSURED THERE WERE NO OTHER PROBLEMS WITH IT AND THE DEALER IS TRYING TO MAKE IT THAT I HAD BURNED THE CLUTCH I.E A WEAR ISSUE AFTER DRIVING FOR TWO WEEKS. THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY THIS COULD HAPPEN AFTER SUCH A SHORT TIME. I AM IN DEALINGS WITH BOTH VOLKSWAGEN AND THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED. IT WAS VERY SCARY TO HAVE A CAR GIVE OUT LIKE THAT WHILE DRIVING AND SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. *TR
I CURRENTLY DRIVE A 2019 VW JETTA GLI 6MT. MUCH LIKE OTHER CONCERNS REPORTED, MY VEHICLE HAS ENGINE CUTTING, MASSIVE ENGINE POWER LOSS DURING THE SUMMER RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ALMOST STALLING, AND ROUGH IDLE. I COMPLETED THE MANDATORY RECALL BACK IN DECEMBER PER VW'S RECOMMENDATION THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX EXACTLY THE CONCERNS I HAVE. THEY DO NOT. VOLKSWAGEN ADMITS THAT MY VEHICLE HAS WHAT IS REFERRED TO AS ENGINE TIMING RETARDATION. THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE VEHICLE'S POWER LOSS, BUT SAYS THAT RUNNING ANYTHING LESS THAN PREMIUM IN THE CAR CAN CAUSE THIS (EVEN THOUGH THEY ADVERTISE THE VEHICLE AS BEING ELIGIBLE FOR REGULAR FUEL). VOLKSWAGEN HAS OPENLY ADMITTED THAT THEY ARE HAPPY TO SELL A VEHICLE WITH ENGINE TIMING ISSUES, BORDERLINE STALLING, HEAT SOAK ISSUES, AND FALSE ADVERTISING PERTAINING TO THE FUEL THE CAR TAKES. IN VOLKSWAGEN'S OWN WORDS, 'THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING TO SPEC.' I WILL BE DEMANDING A BUYBACK. *TR
JETTA S MANUAL TRANSMISSION. CLUTCH IS BURNED AFTER 10K MILES/14 MONTHS OF USAGE. HAS SHOWN PROBLEMS FOR A WHILE, DEALER CLAIMS NOT ABLE TO REPRODUCE. THE ISSUE IS THAT CLUTCH GETS STUCK AFTER STARTING TO MOVE, AND A STRONG BURN SMELL COMES FROM ENGINE. THIS TIME CAR STALLED WHILE ENTERING HIGHWAY (1ST GEAR, 2ND GEAR FAILS TO ENGAGE, CAR GOES IN NEUTRAL AND LOSES SPEED). DEALER SAYS CLUTCH IS BURNED DUE TO WEAR ISSUE, ASSUMES DRIVER HAS BEEN RIDING THE CLUTCH (FALSE, I'VE DRIVEN MANUAL CARS FOR OVER 30 YEARS), AND WANTS AUTHORIZATION TO VERIFY FLY WHEEL BUT WARNS IT WILL BE AT LEAST $2,200 TO FIX, UNLESS SOME SPECIFIC PROBLEM IS FOUND. DEALER SAYS THERE ARE NO ISSUES REPORTED BY VW. *TR
SCRAPING NOISE FROM TRANSMISSION WHEN UP SHIFTING . ESPECIALLY NOTICED WHEN DRIVING THE CAR AT LOWER SPEEDS. TAKEN TO VW DEALERSHIP TWICE. DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM AND REFUSED TO NOTE THE OBVIOUS NOISE. *TR
ENGINE STALLS IN NEUTRAL OR WITH THE CLUTCH IN WHEN COMING TO A STOP OR SLOWING DOWN TO TURN. *TR
WHENEVER I ACCELERATE, ESPECIALLY AT A NORMAL OR LIGHT RATE, I HEAR A GRINDING NOISE. IT USUALLY HAPPENS ANYWHERE FROM 25-40 MPH AND DOESN'T MATTER IF THE ENGINE IS COLD OR WARM. IT HAS HAPPENED EVER SINCE I GOT THE CAR AND I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE TO GET IT CHECKED OUT. WHEN I TOOK IT THERE I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE ABS SYSTEM KICKING IN. THE SECOND TIME I TOOK IT THERE I WAS TOLD THAT IT IS A 'NORMAL SOUND THAT ALL JETTA'S MAKE'. I DON'T THINK A NEW VEHICLE SHOULD BE MAKING ANY SORT OF GRINDING NOISE. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION OR DRIVETRAIN AND THAT'S WHAT CONCERNS ME. *TR
I HAVE A 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA GLI 35TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION 2.0T TSI W/ 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. (ONLY 3500 MANUFACTURED IN THE WORLD) 1. I HAVE A VERY LOUD CLICKING/TAPPING NOISE WHEN AT IDLE AND LOWER RPMS. VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 9,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER WHEN NOISE STARTED. I HAVE MULTIPLE VIDEOS AND SOUNDS RECORDINGS OF THE VEHICLE HAVING THIS NOISE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSIS. I SHOWED THE SERVICE ADVISOR THE VIDEOS AND HE SAID "IT DOES NOT SOUND NORMAL AT ALL, IN FACT IT SOUNDS LIKE INTERNAL DAMAGE/DEFECT". THE TECH HAD TAKEN IT INTO THE SHOP AND CAME BACK AND SAID IT SOUNDED 100% NORMAL. I AM NOW AT 12,000 MILES AND DID MY OIL CHANGE AT THE 10,000 MILE MARK. NOISE IS STILL THERE. I AM AFRAID IF THE NOISE KEEPS GOING ON AND IT IS CAUSING INTERNAL DAMAGE MY CAR WILL BE DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED OUT ON ME 1 TIME AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN DECEMBER OF 2019. (CLUTCH WAS DEPRESSED AND CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL) I AM CURRENTLY GOING BACK TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT AND TO GET A TRIM PIECE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO FAULT.
INTERIOR TRIM PIECE BELOW THE INFOTAINMENT CENTER IS DEFECTIVE. IT BEND OUTWARD LEAVING A 1 INCH GAP BETWEEN TRIM PIECE AND THE DASH. TAKEN TO VW DEALER AND IT IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY FOR DEFECTIVE PIECE.
I WAS OUT TODAY AT A STORE AND MY EPC LIGHT CAME ON. I COULDN'T START MY CAR
WHEN I'M DRIVING THE CAR WILL JUST STALL OUT OF NOWHERE, THEN AFTER THIS HAPPENS I WOULD START THE VEHICLE BACK UP AND IT WILL CUT OFF
THE TRANSMISSION OR TORQUE CONVERTER IS MAKING A GRINDING NOISES AT 28MPH AND 39MPH. THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR WITH UNDER 100 MILES ON IT. THERE IS A PENDING CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ON THIS ISSUE. VW NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN.
REAR DIRVERSIDE ROTOR SHEERED OFF CAUSING WHEEL TO LOCK-UP AND VEHICLE TO SPIN-OUT RESULTING IN IMPACT WITH CURB
BOUGHT 2019 JETTA IN SEPT. 2018. JETTA SE, HABANERO ORANGE. CURRENTLY HAS 39,500 MILES ON IT. HAD BEEN COMPLAINING TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT EVER SINCE MY FIRST OIL CHANGE (ROUGHLY 5000 MILES). I CHANGE THE OIL EVERY 5000, AND EVERY TIME I ASKED ABOUT IT, THEY REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE. NO RECALL. HOWEVER, AT 39,000 MILES MY CAR BEGAN "HARD-SHIFTING" AND WOULD GET STUCK/LOCKED IN GEAR AT SLOW TRAFFIC SPEEDS (20-40MPH). IT WOULD THEN SLAM INTO GEAR, AND I WOULD CONTINUE ON MY WAY. TOOK THE CAR INTO VOLKSWAGEN, REQUESTED TO SEE THE FOREMAN TO REPLICATE MY ISSUE. TALKED TO VW CUSTOMER CARE IN ORDER TO OPEN A CASE. REPLICATED THE ISSUE WITH THE FOREMAN, AND THEY TOOK MY CAR FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR. THEY FOUND AS FOLLOWS: - BURNT TRANSMISSION FLUID - METAL SHAVINGS IN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID - METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL - METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL COOLER. CAR FELT VERY UNSAFE FOR REGULAR USE. CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE CORRECTLY. BEING STUCK IN GEAR REQUIRES ME TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER DURING FREEWAY DRIVING. WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO ACCELERATE CORRECTLY. HAPPENED DURING SLOW SPEEDS, ROUGHLY 25-40MPH, ALSO, WHILE SPEEDING UP TO ROUGHLY 60MPH.
I HAD PARKED MY 2019 JETTA IN MY LOCKED GARAGE LAST NIGHT. WHEN I WENT TO USE THE CAR THIS MORNING, AND BEFORE I GOT INTO THE CAR, I NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO LIVES IN THE HOUSE. THE GARAGE IS ATTACHED TO THE HOUSE, AND THERE AREN'T ANY WINDOWS IN THE GARAGE. THE ONLY WAY INTO THE GARAGE IS THROUGH A DOOR FROM THE KITCHEN OR BY USING THE GARAGE DOOR. THERE IS NO SIGN OF ANY FORCED ENTRY, BUT MY DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW IS SHATTERED WITH MOST OF THE GLASS ON THE DRIVER'S SEAT, SOME ON THE GARAGE FLOOR (~5%) AND VERY LITTLE (~2%) ON THE ROOF OF THE CAR. IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THE WINDOW WAS NOT ALL THE WAY UP AFTER I PARKED IT IN THE GARAGE, WHICH IS BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF SHATTERED GLASS IN AND AROUND THE CAR. THERE IS NO SIGN OF ANY DAMAGE TO THE WORKINGS OF THE GARAGE DOOR, INCLUDING THE SPRINGS. THERE IS NO SIGN OF ANYTHING HAVING FALLEN ONTO THE CAR, OR FROM INSIDE THE CAR. THERE IS NO SIGN OF ANYTHING HAVING BEEN TAKEN FROM THE CAR. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AND IT HAD BEEN PARKED IN THE GARAGE FOR AT LEAST 12 HOURS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHILE STOPPED ON AN INCLINE, THE HILL ASSIST FEATURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STALL LASTED APPROXIMATELY 3 SECONDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FIORE VOLKSWAGEN (1000 S LOGAN BLVD, HOLLIDAYSBURG, PA 16648), ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *DT*JB
I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW AND WITHIN EXACTLY ONE WEEK WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THERE WAS A LOUD POP LIKE GLASS BEING HIT. THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES AROUND OR WIND WITH FLYING DEBRIS. IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE GLASS BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND SUNROOF. IT CRACKED FROM ONE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE TO THE OTHER.
FACTORY DEFECT
METAL PLATES IN THE ROAD TRIGGER THE THE CAR'S FRONT-ASSIST SENSOR TO ACTIVATE THE AUTONOMOUS EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE, DESPITE THE ABSENCE OF ANY OBSTRUCTION. THE RESULT IS A JARRING DECELERATION FROM ~20MPH TO A COMPLETE STOP IN A MATTER OF FEET: EFFECTIVELY MINOR ACCIDENT. THERE IS NO ADVANCED WARNING, ONLY A SIMULTANEOUS BUZZER AND DASHBOARD SIGNAL. IT POSES A SIGNIFICANT RISK TO ALL VEHICLE OCCUPANTS, ESPECIALLY PASSENGERS WHO ARE UNAWARE OF THE HAZARD OR OTHERWISE UNABLE TO PREPARE THEMSELVES (E.G. INFANTS). THIS PROBLEM IS PERSISTENT, DISRUPTIVE, AND DANGEROUS FOR THE VEHICLE'S OCCUPANTS AS WELL AS ANY TRAILING VEHICLES THAT MAY CONSEQUENTLY CRASH INTO THE UNEXPECTEDLY HALTED VEHICLE. VOLKSWAGEN CLAIMS THAT THIS IS "EXPECTED BEHAVIOR" OF THE SENSOR, AS THE VEHICLE MANUAL WARNS OF "UNWANTED" BEHAVIOR WHEN "THERE ARE ...METAL PLATES IN THE ROAD." NEVERTHELESS, WHILE IT MAY BE "EXPECTED," IT IS STILL PATENTLY UNSAFE. VOLKSWAGEN'S SUGGESTED RESOLUTION IS TO PERMANENTLY DISENGAGE THE FRONT-ASSIST SAFETY FEATURE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE BECAUSE IT EXPOSES THE VEHICLE'S OCCUPANTS TO OTHER SAFETY HAZARDS THAT MIGHT OTHERWISE BE AVOIDED WITH AN ENGAGED FRONT-ASSIST SYSTEM. FURTHERMORE, THE SYSTEM MUST BE DISENGAGED ANEW ON EACH VEHICLE RESTART, WHICH LEAVES ROOM FOR POTENTIAL OPERATOR OVERSIGHT. I EXPERIENCED THIS UNSAFE BEHAVIOR NEARLY DAILY FOR ALMOST 18 MONTHS DUE TO CONSTRUCTION IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD, AND I HAVE DOCUMENTED IT 3 TIMES WITH TIMESTAMPED VIDEOS. AS THIS SITE DOES NOT PERMIT VIDEO FILES TO BE UPLOADED, I CAN PROVIDE THOSE UPON REQUEST. A BBB AUTO LINE CASE WAS OPENED AGAIN VOLKSWAGEN. VEHICLE REPURCHASE WAS DENIED BASED ON VOLKSWAGEN'S WARNING OF "UNWANTED" BEHAVIOR IN THE VEHICLE MANUAL. NEVERTHELESS, THE DECISION AFFIRMED THAT "THE FRONT ASSIST ISSUE SUBSTANTIALLY IMPAIRS THE USE, VALUE AND SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE."
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, MIDDLE LANE ON MAIN ROAD, 30 MPH. SUDDENLY THE PASSENGER BACK WINDOW SHATTERED FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND THE GLASS FELL AND BLEW INSIDE THE CAR.
WE BOUGHT THIS CAR A MONTH AGO WE HAVE TRANSMISSION NOISE COMING FROM THE TORQUE CONVERTER. TWICE I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO PROBLEM. WE ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH VW. I BELEIVE THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE AISUN 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION. THIS IS ALWAYS HAPPENING WITH 800 TO 1800 RPM. A DISCONCERTING GRINDING SCRAPING TORQUE CONVERTER WHILE DRIVING IN ECO ,DRIVE, OR SPORT ALL MODES MAKE NOISE. I WPOLD EITHER LIKE THE CAR FIXED OR REPLACED WITH NON DEFECTIVE PROBLEM.
WHEN DRIVING CAR MAKES A GRINDING NOISE AND STRUGGLES WITH ACCELERATION AT AROUND 25-30 MPH.
REAR SEAT BELT BUCKLE DISAPPEARS INTO SEAT WHEN TRYING TO ATTACH. I HAD CAR AT DEALER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY LOOKED AT 3 OTHER JETTA'S OF THE SAME YEAR AND THE SAME HAPPENED ON ALL.
I BOUGHT MY NEW 2019 JETTA 2 DAYS AGO. IT HAD ONLY 111 MILES ON IT. THE DAY AFTER I PURCHASED IT, I BEGAN TO NOTICE A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION BETWEEN 15 TO 30 MPH. IT SOUNDS LIKE GEARS GRINDING ON A MANUAL TRANSMISSION WHEN THE CLUTCH ISN'T FULLY ENGAGED. I ALSO NOTICED THE RPM'S JUMPING UP ERRATICALLY WHEN I'M HEARING THE NOISE. I CONTACTED EAST COAST VOLKWSGON, THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPRESENTATIVE I SPOKE WITH WAS FAMILIAR WITH THE COMPLAINT. I AM TAKING IT IN TOMORROW MORNING TO HAVE IT CHECKED. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT A NEW CAR ALREADY HAVING TRANSMISSION ISSUES. THE REPRESENTATIVE'S RESPONSE PROMPTED ME TO RESEARCH THIS ISSUE AND I SEE THAT THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE COMMON FOR THIS MODEL.
CAR MAKES GRINDING NOISE WHEN GOING BETWEEN 20-40MPH, EVERY CAR I TEST DROVE MADE THIS NOISE SO I ASSUMED IT WAS NORMAL. NOT AS LOUD IN THE SPORT MODE BUT NOTICABLE IN ECO MODE MORE. MY CAR HAS 4000 MILES ON IT. VW SAYS IT IS A NORMAL SOUND. ALSO BREAKS SQUEAL VERY LOUDLY WHEN BACKING UP, AGAIN THEY SAY NORMAL.
THE PASSENGER SIDE INDOOR, DOOR HANDLE IS A STICKER AND NOT AN ACTUAL CHROME HANDLE. THE STICKER HAS PEELED OFF THE BOTTOM, CREATING SHARP EDGES. I HAVE CUT MY FINGERS WHEN OPENING THE DOOR TWICE NOW. THE HANDLES ALL SHOULD BE REPLACED.
VIBRATION AND GRINDING NOISES AT LOW SPEEDS. STARTED AROUND 200-300 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. ORIGINALLY ONLY OCCURRED IN ECO MODE NOW HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. IT HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY LOUDER AND MORE SEVERE OVER THE LAST 4-5 MONTHS I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TWICE AND THEY TOLD ME IT'S NORMAL BUT IT SOUNDS AND FEELS TERRIBLE. THE CAR FEELS VERY UNSAFE. SOMETIMES IT ACCELERATES VERY SLOWLY AND OTHER TIMES I BARELY PRESS THE PEDAL AND IT TAKES OFF AND THE TIRES SPIN. WHEN DRIVING IN ECO MODE THE INTERNAL COMPUTER SEEMS TO FORGET AND SWITCHES BACK INTO REGULAR DRIVE MODE BUT THE ECO MODE BUTTON WILL STAY ILLUMINATED EVEN THOUGH THE DASH DISPLAY SAYS IT IS IN DRIVE. AT HIGHER SPEEDS THE GRINDING BECOMES MORE OF A LOW GROWL OR SCRAPE AND ALSO VIBRATES MUCH MORE ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING OR ACCELERATING. WHEN I FIRST START THE CAR TO LEAVE HOME OR LEAVE WORK MY BRAKES SCREECH THE FIRST 3-4 TIMES I APPLY THEM. IT'S SO LOUD THAT MY NEIGHBORS HAVE COMPLAINED MULTIPLE TIMES. NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF DRIVING I DO OR WHERE IT IS THE VEHICLE FEELS UNSAFE AND MAKES LOUD GRINDING NOISES WHEN ACCELERATING OR CRUISING.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ACCELERATING IN EITHER NORMAL OR ECO MODE, WHEN IT APPROACHED 28MPH AND SHIFTS GEARS THE ENGINE MAKES A SCRAPING/GRINDING SOUND. THIS HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY IN THE SAME DRIVING SESSION WHEN ACCELERATING WITH THIS GEAR CHANGE. THIS WILL HAPPEN ON HIGHWAYS UNDER RAPID ACCELERATION OR ON LOCAL STREETS UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION. THIS IS A GREAT CAUSE FOR CONCERN AS THE SOUND COULD DISTRACT THE DRIVER AND REPRESENT DAMAGE OVERTIME TO THE ENGINE.
I PREVIOUSLY FILED A COMPLAINT, COMPLAINT NUMBER 11306864, WITH REFERENCE TO MY 2019 VOLKSWAGEN GTI AUTOBAHN, MANUAL TRANSMISSION, PURCHASED AS NEW ON JANUARY 17, 2020, WITH REFERENCE TO LOW-SPEED ENGINE STALLING. I HAVE SINCE DISCOVERED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS REPORTED TO THE NHTSA AS REPAIRED BY VW SERVICE ACTION CODE 24 FD, PUBLISHED ON DECEMBER 6, 2019. HOWEVER, LOW SPEED STALLING INTERMITTENTLY CONTINUES AS I HAVE EXPERIENCED THREE FURTHER INSTANCES OF IT OVER THE LAST TEN DAYS SINCE I REPORTED THIS TROUBLESOME BEHAVIOR. IN OTHER WORD VW SERVICE ACTION CODE 24D APPARENTLY HAS NOT RECTIFIED THE PROBLEM. THANK YOU. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
THE VEHICLE HAS A HIGH PITCHED WHINE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA UNDER ACCELERATION. DEALER CAN NOT FIND ISSUE AND FIX. VW HAS SENT ENGINEER OUT TWICE SO FAR.
I HAVE HAD A VOLKSWAGEN JETTA 2019 FOR 3 MONTHS AND I HAVE NOTICED A GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. IT STARTS THE NOISE AT 30-40MPH AT 1000-3000RPMS, IT'S LOUDER IN ECO MODE BUT CAN STILL BE HEARD IN DRIVE MODE VARY FAINTLY BUT STILL NOTICEABLE. I LOOKED IT UP AND FOUND OUT A LOT OF PEOPLE ALREADY KNOW ABOUT IT SO I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, TOLD THEM ABOUT THE NOISE, 9 HOURS LATER I RECEIVE A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP TO TELL ME IT WAS NORMAL. THAT THE NOISE WAS PART OF THE TURBO THEY CALLED IT 'TURBOCHARGED'. I'M NO SCIENTIST BUT I KNOW WHAT A TURBO SOUNDS LIKE AND THEY DON'T SOUND LIKE THAT. I JUST WANT THIS PROBLEM FIXED OR A NEW CAR BECAUSE I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT IT GOING TO CAUSE BIGGER PROBLEM THAT MIGHT NOT BE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY.
VEHICLE REAR-ENDED ON A BUSY DAY BETWEEN 5:00 PM TO 6:00 PM ON A THURSDAY. ALL THE AIR-BAGS IN THE CAR DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR-BAG STAYED INFLATED FOR A LONG TIME, AND THE RIGHT SIDE AIR-BAG ALSO DID NOT DEFLATE. INFLATED AIR-BAG HELD THE DRIVER SO TIGHT, AND THE DRIVER COULD NOT EXIT OUT OF THE ACCIDENT CAR. SIMULTANEOUSLY SEAT ALSO HELD THE DRIVER SO TIGHT. THE DRIVER SUFFERED A SIGNIFICANT INJURY FRACTURING HIS STERNUM. THE CAR WAS LESS THAN 40 MPH AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THE MANUFACTURER DOWNLOADED THE ELECTRONIC DATA RECORD FROM THE CAR AND NEVER SHARED IT WITH THE DRIVER DESPITE THE WRITTEN REQUEST. DRIVER FEELS BRAKE MAY HAVE FAILED. DRIVER HAS TO SLIDE OUT OF THE CAR AS THE SIDE AIR BAG STAYED INFLATED. PICTURE ATTACHED SHOWS AIR-BAG STAYING INFLATED EVEN AFTER 10-25 MINS AND STARTED TO GO DOWN SLOWLY.
THE TRANSMISSION MAKES A HORRIBLE NOISE FROM 25MPH TO UPWARDS OF 60MPH. THE DEALER HAS NOT ROAD TESTED, BUT IMMEDIATELY HANDED ME A TECH TIP FROM VW CORPORATE THAT SAYS THIS IS NORMAL OPERATION. TAKING IT IN AGAIN FOR ANOTHER WARRANTY REPAIR THIS WEEKEND, BUT THIS DOES NOT ACT LIKE OR SOUND LIME NORMAL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FUNCTION.
LOUD GRINDING NOISES FROM THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND A LOSS OF POWER WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP TO 35 MPH. AT HIGHER THAN 50 MPH I CAN FEEL SOMETHING RATTLING/VIBRATING IN THE PEDAL AND STEERING WHEEL. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TWICE AND THEY WON'T EVEN POP THE HOOD BEFORE TELLING ME IT'S NORMAL. ALSO IT WILL NOT STAY IN ECO MODE. I BELIEVE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE CAUSES IT TO SWITCH OUT OF ECO MODE BUT THE BUTTON STILL SAYS IT'S IN ECO MODE. THE DISPLAY HOWEVER SAYS IT'S IN DRIVE MODE.
WHILE DRIVING, THERE IS A GRINDING SOUND FROM THE TRANSMISSION AT THE LOWER/MID RPMS
PREMATURE CLUTCH FAILURE. THE JETTA ONLY HAS 6,812 MILES ON IT. CLUTCH COMPLETELY FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED.
ON 9/6/2019 I BOUGHT 2019 VW JETTA 1.4 T R-LINE TSI 16 VALVE DOHC TURBO 4 CYLINDER W/DIRECT FUEL INJECTION. HAD IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FIRST WEEK COMPLAINING ABOUT THE GRINDING AND GROWLING NOISES UNDER 40 MPH RANGE WHILE DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC. I WAS TOLD BY ANOTHER DEALERSHIP IT IS NORMAL FOR 8 SPEED TRANSMISSIONS. ALSO SAID THE ONLY WAY STOP THE NOISE IS TO DRIVE IT IN SPORT MOD , NOT GOOD WITH GAS CONSUPTION BUT YOU WON'T HEAR IT. WHILE MAKING A U TURN AND COMING OUT OF A DRIVE WAY INTO CITY TRAFFIC, IT HAS UNPREDICTABLE ACCELERATION WHICH REALLY SHOCKED ME. I LEFT RUBBER AND THE WHEELS MADE A LOUD SOUND ON THE PAVEMENT. IT LARCHED TWICE AND I DO NOT TRUST THIS CAR.
WHEN PUTTING MY CAR IN REVERSE AND BACKING OUT OF A SPOT BRAKES MAKE A HIGH PITCH RINGING. ALSO, WHEN PARKED MUFFLER/ TAIL PIPE ON THE LEFT SIDE, IT GURGLES AS IF WATER IS BOILING IN IT. CAR IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD.
THE TRANSMISSION MAKES A GRINDING NOISE WHEN IT IS SHIFTING ON MID TO UPPER LEVEL GEARS. THIS SENDS A VIBRATION THROUGH THE GAS PEDAL AS WELL. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION GOING FORWARD ONLY REGARDLESS OF ROAD AND DRIVING CONDITIONS.
I HAVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION 2019 JETTA GLI. BECAUSE I HAVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION, I ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WHENEVER I PARK. IF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IS ON FOR A PERIOD OF 3 OR MORE HOURS, IT WILL NOT DISENGAGE WHEN I ATTEMPT TO DO SO WITH THE ELECTRONIC BUTTON. THE ELECTRONIC BUTTON SHOWS IT IS OFF, BUT THE BRAKES ARE STILL ENGAGED. I HAVE TO TRY TO MOVE THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO "BREAK" THE PADS AWAY. IT PRODUCES A VERY VIOLENT "BOOM" FROM THE BRAKES AS THEY PULL AWAY. THE DEALER SAYS THIS IS "NORMAL" BECAUSE CONDENSATION STICKS THE PADS TO THE CALIPERS (OR WHATEVER, I DON'T KNOW THE TERMS), BUT IT SEEMS VERY VIOLENT TO ME AND FEELS LIKE THE BRAKES ARE BEING COMPROMISED EVERY TIME I USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE DEALER WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT THIS.
ELECTRICAL ISSUES. CAR WON'T LOCK AND I HAVE A SAFETY WARNING STATING ELECTRICAL FAULT.
TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A CHECK UP AND TOLD THEM THAT THE CAR MAKES A HIGH PITCH SQUEAL EVERY TIME I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND I BACK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. IT ALSO SOUNDS LIKE WHEN I BACK OUT THE BRAKES ARE GRINDING. THIS CAR IS LESS THAN FOUR MONTHS OLD AND HAS LESS THAN 5K MILES AND IM TOLD THAT THIS IS NORMAL AND NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT IS HAVING A PROBLEM AND WITH VW CURRENT "BRAND ISSUES" AND "LACK OF TRUST" I WOULD THINK THEY WOULD WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. EVEN THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY ARE GETTING SEVERAL CARS A DAY WITH THE SAME ISSUES AND THAT VW OF AMERICA SAYS ITS NORMAL..... NOT REALLY SURE HOW THAT IS NORMAL IF EVERYONE IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS.
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, CAR IN MOTION, GOING STRAIGHT, NOT TURNING, I HEAR A LOUD POP. THE SOUND WAS SIMILAR TO A GUN SHOT. IN FACT, IT WAS SO LOUD IT STARTLED ME, CAUSING ME TO SWERVE TO THE LEFT, ALMOST HITTING THE CAR IN THE LANE TO THE LEFT OF ME. I FRANTICALLY LOOKED AROUND THE OUSTSIDE OF MY CAR, AND NOTICED THE SOUND OF WIND ABOVE MY HEAD WAS LOUD AND THEN SAW BROKEN GLASS ALL OVER THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE SUNROOF HAD BROKE, AND I KNOW FOR SURE IT WAS NO ROCK OR OUTSIDE CAUSE. IT WAS STILL DAYTIME, AND I NEVER SAW ANYTHING FLY AT ME. THERE WAS NOT AN OVERPASS OR BRIDGE TO DRIVE UNDER FOR ABOUT 8 MILES. SO, I KNOW NOTHING HAD DROPPED ONTO AND THREW THE WINDOW. CURIOUS ABOUT THIS, I LOOK UP ONLINE 'DEFECTIVE BROKEN SUNROOF VW JETTA 19' AND FIND MULTIPLE STORIES OF PEOPLE HAVING SIMILAR EXPERIENCES. I GUESS THIS IS HAPPENING MORE OFTEN WITH A LOT OF MAKES AND MODELS OF CARS, BECAUSE THE SUNROOF IS A COMMON FEATURE PUT IN CARS NOWADAYS AND THEY ARE LARGER IN SIZE. ALSO, I FOUND OUT VW IS IN COURT NOW FOR OLDER MODELS OF THEIR CARS HAVING DEFECTIVE SUNROOF, AND THEY KNOW THEY WERE POORLY DESIGNED BUT STILL PUT THEM IN AND SOLD THEM WITH NO DISCLOSURE TO THW CUSTOMER OF THE POOR QUALITY SUNROOF. THIS HAPPENED 12/29/19, AND AS OF NOW THE DEALERSHIP WONT FIX IT. VW WONT FIX AND CLAIM THAT THEIR ENGINEERS ARE SAYING THE WINDOW BROKE FROM THE OUTSIDE, LIKE FROM A ROCK. THESE ENGINEERS ARE CONCLUDING THIS BY LOOKING AT PICTURES. THEY ARE NOT INVESTIGATING MY CAR IN PERSON BUT BY PICTURES SENT TO THEM. IF ONE LOOKS AT THE SUNROOF OF MY CAR IN PERSON YOU CAN SEE THAT THE GLASS HAS BROKEN UP AND OUT WARD TOWARDS THE SKY NOT DOWNWARD TOWARDS THE SEATS, WHICH IS WHAT A ROCK WOULD DO. THEY WANT ME TO CALL MY INSURANCE AND HAVE THEM DEAL WITH IT. THIS IS FRUSTRATING AND NOT RIGHT OF VW. I ALMOST WRECKED, SO THIS SURELY COULD CAUSE A DEATH OR SOMEONE GETTING HURT
SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED AND SHATTERED INTO PIECES WHILE MOVING.
GRINDING NOISE FROM TRANSMISSION WHEN TRAVELLING AT 30-40 MPH. SOUND IS LOUDEST IN ECO MODE. HAVING THE SAME ISSUE THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE STATED ONLINE WITH THE 2019 JETTA, AND IT SOUNDS LIKE VW IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT SAY IT'S NORMAL SINCE ALL OF THE 2019 JETTAS ARE DOING THIS.
THE VEHICLE IS A 6-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WILL STALL OUT WHEN COMING TO A STOP. NOT USER ERROR, SINCE THE STALLING HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL - COASTING TO A STOP. STALL OUT IS VERY SOFT - AKIN TO JUST SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE. THIS HAPPENS NEARLY EVERY STOP AFTER RUNNING THE CAR FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES. THIS PHENOMENON IS REPEATABLE AND EXTREMELY UNSAFE.
ON DEC 14, 2019 I PURCHASED A NEW 2019 VW JETTA SEL FROM A VW DEALERSHIP. THE CAR HAD ONLY 7 MILES ON IT. THE DAY AFTER I PURCHASED IT, I NOTICED A CONSISTENT GRINDING, GROWLING OR RUBBING NOISE WHEN TRAVELING AT LOWER SPEEDS. THE CAR SEEMS SLOW, LIKE IT'S NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY. IT HAPPENS ALL DAY LONG, EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT & I WAS TOLD THIS IS A NORMAL SOUND. IT DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT TO ME, I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR ON THE FREEWAY. BRAND NEW CAR! THEN I GOT ON THE INTERNET TODAY ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THERE IS A BIG PROBLEM WITH 2019 VW JETTAS - MAYBE THE TRANSMISSION OR THE TORQUE CONVERTER.
WIPER BLADES RANDOMLY START GOING. WIPER ARM IS IN OFF POSITION, IT IS NOT RAINING. SCARES ME WHEN DRIVING.
2019 JETTA S. 8SPD AUTO. GRINDING NOISE FROM 4-6TH GEAR. 15-25 MPH. LACK OF POWER AND NOT FEELING COMFORTABLE DRIVING THE CAR UNDER HEAVY ACCELERATION OR LOAD.
I WAS WAITING FOR A PARKING SPACE AND WAS PLACING THE CAR IN REVERSE TO GIVE MORE ROOM FOR THE PERSON TO BACK UP AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND AGAIN THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I PLACED THE CAR IN PARK THEN BACK IN REVERSE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I AGAIN PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, RESTARTED THE CAR PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND THE CAR WENT IN REVERSE..THIS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE. THE OTHER INCIDENT WAS I WAS REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND THE VEHICLE BRAKES JAMMED ON..I CHECKED FOR VEHICLES/PEOPLE PRIOR TO BACKING UP AND THERE WERE NO VEHICLES/PEDESTRIANS PRESENT BUT THE BRAKES ENGAGED ANYWAY. THE SECOND TIME THIS OCCURRED I WAS TRAVELING AT 40 MPH AND THE BRAKES JAMMED ON AGAIN FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY HAD HEARD ABOUT THIS "PHANTOM" BRAKING" BUT DIDN'T KNOW WHY AND AS FAR AS THE VEHICLE NOT MOVING, JUST SHUTTING DOWN THEY SAID THAT THEY RECEIVED AN EMAIL SAYING THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE COMPUTER CHIP AND I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR THE OUTCOME.
I RECENTLY STARTED A LEASE FOR A 2019 JETTA SE. I STARTED TO NOTICE A STRANGE SOUND LIKE SCRAPPING AND GRINDING AS THE CAR ACCELERATED AND PARTICULARLY AROUND THE 20-30 MPH MARK. IT IS ALMOST LIKE A SHALLOW HOWLING AND SEEMINGLY FROM THE TRANSMISSION. PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT I BROUGHT THE CAR NEW ABOUT 25 MILES ON IT AND THE NOISE STARTED ALMOST INSTANTLY. THE VW DEALERSHIP I WENT TO GAVE NO GOOD RESOLUTION AND INFORMED ME THAT THE NOISE WAS 'NORMAL' OF THIS TRANSMISSION. A NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION OF A NEW CAR SHOULD NEVER BE TAKEN AS 'NORMAL'. I HAVE ENJOYED DRIVING THE 2017 MODEL THE LAST 3 PRIOR YEARS AND AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS RESPONSE AND THE WAY THE VEHICLE IS FUNCTIONING. I HOPE VW DOES THE RIGHT THING WITH EITHER A PROPER FIX OR A RECALL. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE LONGEVITY OF THIS ISSUE AND WHAT IT MEANS SAFETY WISE NOW AND DOWN THE LINE.
WHEN MOBILE DEVICE IS PLACED IN PASSENGERS SEAT SEATBELT LIGHT COMES ON AND AIR BAG IS TURNED OFF.
ENGINE BURNING THROUGH OVER A QUART OF OIL BEFORE 10K OIL CHANGES.
MY CAR SHUTS ITSELF OFF RANDOMLY. AT STOP LIGHTS, SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY, IN THE CAR PICK UP LINE AT SCHOOL ETC. I ASKED THE DEALER TO LOOK INTO THIS. AT TIMES IT WILL TELL ME THE CAR HAS TO SHUT OFF TO KEEP THE BATTERY FROM ANY DAMAGE. THE DEALER CLAIMS IT'S NORMAL BUT THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE ONLINE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS. I DON'T THINK IT'S NORMAL.
RANDOM SHORT GRINDING SOUND AROUND 25-35MPH IN 5TH GEAR OR IN REVERSE WHEN AT LOW RPM (1,200). SOUNDS LIKE IT IS COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION AREA/TORQUE CONVERTER. VEHICLE IN MOTION GOING STRAIGHT OR TURNING WHEN THIS OCCURS.
I OWN A 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. SINCE PURCHASE ON 9/10/18, THE CAR HAS HAD A VIBRATION. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS PERHAPS A SHIELD ON THE MUFFLER BUT AFTER 3 DOCUMENTED TRIPS TO THE VW SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON 10/17/18, 5/29/19, AND 9/18/19 COMPLAINING ABOUT THE VIBRATION, I AM TOLD IT IS FROM THE TORQUE CONVERTER. I HAVE A CASE # [XXX] WHERE I RAISED THE ISSUE WITH CUSTOMER CARE. VOLKSWAGENS' RESPONSE IS THAT IT IS A NORMAL NOISE. THAT IS AN UNSATISFACTORY RESPONSE. IT GOES ALONG WITH THE VOLKSWAGEN CULTURE OF DENIAL AS IN THE RECENT DIESEL ISSUE. THERE IS A PROBLEM; IT IS NOT NORMAL AS VW PROFESSES AND I WANT IT FIXED. THIS VIBRATION OCCURS AT 27 MPH VERY BRIEFLY AND CONTINUES AT A REDUCED NOISE LEVEL ANY TIME THE ENGINE IS UNDER LOAD ABOVE 27 MPH. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
CAR IS BRAND NEW WITH LESS THAN 1000 MILES DRIVEN AND HAS EITHER A VIBRATION OR GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I'M SITTING AT THE DEALERSHIP AND I'VE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT VW IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND THEY THINK IT'S THE TURBO BUT THERE IS NO FIX IS AVAILABLE YET. IT SOUNDS LIKE LOOSE/BAD BEARINGS OR A BAD PULLEY RATTLING. IT HAPPENS WHEN IT SHIFTS THROUGH THE GEARS WHILE TAKING OFF FROM A STANDSTILL UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION AND AT A LOW RPM. IT OCCURS EVERY TIME BETWEEN 20-35 MPH. IT IS EASY TO REPLICATE.
I HAVE THE 2019 JETTA SEL PREMIUM THAT INCLUDES THE BEATS AUDIO SYSTEM UPGRADE. THE SPEAKERS RATTLE AND SOUND BLOWN STARTING AT JUST BELOW 50% VOLUME. I AM AT THE DEALER AND THEY ARE INSPECTING THE ISSUE. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS ON PUBLIC FORUMS. IT SEEMS AS IF THE STEREO HEAD UNIT IS TOO POWERFUL FOR THE SPEAKERS OR IS IMPROPERLY ALLOCATING POWER TO THE SPEAKERS INSTEAD OF THE SUBWOOFER. IT IS DEFINITELY NOT RIGHT WHATEVER THE ISSUE IS. THIS OCCURS ON FM RADIO, SATELLITE RADIO OR IPHONE APPLE MUSIC VIA CARPLAY.
SINCE DAY ONE CAR IS SHAKING LIKE A BOAT, WHEN I DRIVE IT ON A HIGHWAY MAKING IT NOT STABLE. BRAKES SQUEAK AND I SEE SIGNS ON THE BRAKE DISK.I AM WITH THE ORIGINAL BRAKES. CAR IS SHUTTING DOWN WHEN I PARK. WHEN I SWITCH AGAIN TO DRIVE, IT IS COMPLETELY OFF FROM ITSELF, KEY IS INSIDE AND I HAVE TO TURN THE KEY OFF AND THEN START THE CAR AGAIN. AIR CONDITION IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY VW SAID THEY HAVE BETTER 8 ZONES AIR CONDITION. I HAD OIL LAMP AROUND 5000-6000 MILES THEY SAID THAT THE CAR SHOULD NOT HAVE PROBLEMS TILL 10 000 MILES. I HAVE PROBLEMS ACCELERATING, I AM LOOSING POWER. I HAVE GRINDING SCRAPING NOISE FROM THE TRANSMISSION. ALSO TRANSMISSION JUMPS WHEN I DRIVE, SLOW RESPONSE. THE ENGINE IS GIVING ME LAG WHEN I AM AT TRAFFIC LIGHT, VIBRATION AND SHAKING. I MAKE MULTIPLE CALLS TO THE DEALERSHIP AND VOLKSWAGEN GROUP OF AMERICA TO TOW AND FIX MY CAR THAT I LEASED. I EXPLAIN THAT THE CAR IS NOT SAFE. I HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS. I AM NOT FEELING SAFE OPERATING THIS VEHICLE. IT'S BEEN MORE THAN HALF YEAR AND NOT ONE PROBLEM IS FIXED.
2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO GRINDING NOISE WHILE CHANGING GEARS. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKING TO THE DEALER WHO WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THE CONSUMER GOT A SECOND OPINION, WHO ADVISED THERE MAY BE A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. *JS
EVERYTIME I ACCELERATE PAST 40KM MY VEHICLE MAKES A LOUD GRINDING SOUND SOMEWHERE IN THE ENGINE. I CAN BE ON ANY TERRAIN AND IN ANY DRIVING MODE AND IT STILL DOES IT. I HAVE BEEN TO 2 DEALERS AND NEITHER WILL ACCEPT RESPONSIBILY TO FIX IT. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE SINCE THEN SECOND I BOUGHT IT IN FEBRUARY 2019.
VEHICLE PROXIMITY SENSORS BEGAN TO FLASH, DESPITE BEING THE ONLY CAR IN A FREEWAY ENTRY LANE. THERE WERE NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME, OR IN BACK OF ME, BUT MY VEHICLE'S SENSORS BEGAN TO FLASH AND THE CAR BEGAN TO BREAK AS IF PREPARING FOR A COLLISION. CAR NEVER STOPPED COMPLETELY, SINCE MY FOOT WAS ON THE GAS. SENSORS CONTINUED TO FLASH ON DASHBOARD FOR A MINUTE. I'M NOT SURE OF WHAT CAUSES THIS, PERHAPS THE EQUIPPED VEHICLE SOFTWARE ISN'T CLEAR OF BUGS, OR SENSORS COULD HAVE BEEN MANIPULATED VIA BLUETOOTH CONNECTION.
I PURCHASED A 2019 VW JETTA SE AUTOMATIC WITH 38 MILES ON OCTOBER 11, 2019 ONE MONTH LATER AS I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY TO WORKING HEARD AND FELT A GRINDING, SOUNDING LIKE IT CARNE FROM THE ENGINE. I DIDN'T WANT TO JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS SO I CONTINUED DRIVING BUT IT SOUNDS A BIT LOUDER SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME 4 DAYS LATER THE SOUND IS NORMAL. I'M NOT COMFORTABLE THOUGH. I READ UP ON THIS AND THERE'S A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR SIMILAR ISSUE. NOW I'M AFRAID FOR MY SAFETY. I TRADED IN MY CHEVY TAHOE AND THAT WAS A GREAT VEHICLE. I HAVE A WARRANTY AND I JUST WANT IT FIXED. FEELS LIKE I'M GETTING THE BRUSH OFF.
THE WIPERS SCREECH WHEN OPERATING HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT ALIGNED PROPERLY WRONG GEAR IS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SOMETIMES SLIGHT METAL GRINDING NOISE WHEN THE CLUTCH IS DEPRESSED (CAN ONLY HE HEARD FROM THE OUTSIDE). ENGINE HAS SOFT HISSING NOISE AND SHAKES A LITTLE WHEN THE RUNNING COLD (CAN BE ONLY HEARD FROM OUTSIDE) . THE DEALERSHIP HAS FAILED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS. CAR SHAKES WHEN REVERSING WITH GAS.
THE CAR MAKES A GRINDING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING BETWEEN 25-40 MPH AND IT CHANGES GEAR. IT DOES IT IN THE CITY OR HIGHWAY.
I HAVE A 2019 VW JETTA GLI AND THE CAR STALLED WHILE I WENT COMING TO A STOP OR PREPARING TO TURN, EVEN WITH THE CLUTCH PRESSED AND THE CAR IN NEUTRAL IT HAPPENS LIKE 5 TIMES PER DAY
VEHICLE WILL STALL AT TIMES WHEN COMING TO COMPLETE STOP, OR WHEN COASTING IN NEUTRAL, WITH CLUTCH PEDAL DEPRESSED. VW DEALER RESET ECU ADAPTATIONS. ISSUE STILL REMAINS.
WHEN GRABBING THINGS FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE THROUGH AN OPEN WINDOW, PUSHING YOUR BODY AGAINST THE DOOR WITH KEYS IN A POCKET MAY COST THE VEHICLE TO THINK THAT YOU ARE PUSHING ON THE DOOR LOCK BUTTON AND HENCE CLOSING THE WINDOWS WHEN YOU ARE RETRIEVING THINGS INSIDE AND THE WINDOWS TAKE TOO LONG OF A TIME TO SENSE THAT SOMETHING IS BLOCKING THE WINDOWS AND HURT WHOEVER IS RETRIEVING ITEMS.
EVERY SENSE I BOUGHT MY JETTA OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS IT STALLS OUT WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP AND WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP. THE RPMS WILL GO UP BUT THEN DROP IMMEDIATELY. IT'S HAPPENED QUITE A FEW TIMES. I'VE CALLED MY LOCAL VOLKSWAGEN DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANY OTHER ISSUES LIKE THIS. IT STALLED OUT TWICE ON MY WHEN DRIVING HOME THE OTHER NIGHT IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO BE REAR ENDED A FEW DIFFERENT TIMES TO THE POINT I'M SCARED TO DRIVE WITH MY NEPHEWS IN THE CAR. WHEN I'M SLOWING DOWN I PUSH IN THE CLUTCH AND THE RPMS WITH SHOOT UP AND THEN STALL OUT IT DOESN'T MATTER IF I GIVE IT MORE THROTTLE OR NOT. THE SAME THING HAPPENS WHEN I'M STARTING FROM A START AT LOW SPEED. IT HAPPENS MOSTLY ON CITY STREET. HAS HAPPENED ONCE ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I WAS SLOWING DOWN FOR BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC.
INTERIOR AMBIENT LIGHTING ISSUE ON 2019 JETTA GLI AUTOBAHN: THE AMBIENT LIGHTS INCONSISTENTLY LIGHT UP DURING SOME STARTS. IN SOME CASES, NONE COME ON. IN OTHER CASES, SOME # OF THE 6 ZONES WILL COME ON. ATTACHED ARE PICS WHERE THE DRIVER SIDE PANEL AND CENTER CONSOLE LIGHTING ZONES ARE OFF WHILE ALL OTHERS ARE LIT. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER TWICE WITHOUT ANY RESOLUTION. THE FIRST TIME ONE LED WAS OUT (IN FRONT OF THE SHIFTER). AT 4K MILES, LED LIGHTS SHOULD NOT BE BURNING OUT. OTHER THAN THAT, THE INCONSISTENT LIGHTING IS STILL OCCURRING SPORADICALLY, AND THE DEALER STATES THERE ARE NO FAULTS DETECTED, SO NOTHING THEY CAN DO.
GEAR OIL LEAKING BETWEEN VAQ DIFFERENTIAL AND TRANSMISSION. VW DEALERSHIP ALREADY REPLACED SEALS UNDER WARRANTY. DIFFERENTIAL IS STILL LEAKING GEAR OIL.
IVE HAD THE CAR ABOUT TWO OR THREE WEEKS. THE KEY STRUGGLES TO TURN WHEN IN THE IGNITION, EVEN WHEN I HAVE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. SOMETIMES IT TURNS ON JUST FINE AND SOMETIMES THE KEY ABSOLUTELY REFUSES TO TURN WHEN IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. ITS AS IF IM PUTTING THE WRONG KEY IN THERE BUT I ONLY HAVE ONE VW SO THIS IS FOR SURE THE RIGHT KEY. THE CAR SQUEAKS EXTREMELY LOUD. ITS A REALLY LOUD SCREECHING SOUND AND IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I REVERSE. BOTH THINGS ONLY HAPPEN EVERY ONE OUT OF 10 TIMES OR SO.
I PURCHASED MY VW JETTA AUTOBAHN EDITION 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION (BUILD DATE OF 07/19) ON 10/06/2019. IT WAS PURCHASED NEW WITH UNDER 10 MILES ON IT AND SINCE DAY 1 WHEN I DROVE IT HOME, I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING EXCESSIVE STALLING IN LOW SPEEDS. THE ENGINE TURNS OFF WITHOUT WARNING AS I SLOW TO A STOP AND HAPPENS WITH OR WITHOUT THE CLUTCH ENGAGED AND ALSO WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN NEUTRAL. ALL OF THE STALLS HAVE OCCURRED WHILE I HAVE BEEN DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AND SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING IN THE AFTERNOONS MAINLY AND ONLY AFTER I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR ABOUT 10+ MILES BUT ONCE THE FIRST STALL OCCURS, THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AGAIN WITHIN 1-2 MILES THEREAFTER. ON A SINGLE DRIVE, IT HAS STALLED UP TO 5-6 TIMES. I AM ALSO EXPERIENCING INCORRECT GEAR INDICATOR. FOR EXAMPLE, IF I AM IN 3RD GEAR, THE VEHICLE REGISTERS THAT I AM IN 5TH GEAR AND VICE VERSA. MY VEHICLE HAS UNDER 2K MILES AND IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AND THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE MANAGER I DEALT WITH MENTIONED THAT HE, PERSONALLY, HAS WORKED WITH 2 CUSTOMERS THAT HAVE PRESENTED THE SAME PROBLEM. 1 CUSTOMER HAD HIS VEHICLE "BOUGHT BACK" AND THE OTHER, WHICH WAS A MONTH AGO, HAD HIS "THROTTLE VALVE" REPLACED AND HAS NOT HAD THE PROBLEM RETURN. I HAVE VIDEO OF INSTANCES TO SUPPORT THIS CLAIM, HOWEVER THE FILE SIZE IS TOO LARGE TO UPLOAD. *TR
2019 VW JETTA GTI AUTOBAHN MANUAL TRANSMISSION STALLS OR LOSES ENGINE POWER RANDOMLY. FOR ME, IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN 5TH OR 6TH GEAR WHEN TAKING MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS AND COASTING, THE CAR WILL CHOKE AND FEELS AS THOUGH FUEL IS CUTOFF AND THE ENGINE CANNOT GENERATE POWER. THIS IS TEMPORARY, AND SHIFTING AGAIN AND GIVING A LITTLE GAS EVENTUALLY THINGS GO BACK TO NORMAL. HOWEVER, I'M CONCERNED SOMETHING IS MALFUNCTIONING AND MORE IMPORTANTLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS AS IT'S SUDDEN AND EXPECTED.
2019 JETTA GLI WITH LESS THAN 500 MILES EQUIPPED WITH THE DSG (AUTOMATIC) TRANSMISSION - ENGINE STALLS OUT AS SOON AS THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE REACHES 0MPH - WHETHER ON THE HIGHWAY (BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC), STOPPED AT RED LIGHTS, STOPPED AT STOP SIGNS, OR CHANGING GEAR TO REVERSE IN PARKING LOT OR STREET TO GET IN DRIVEWAY. THE STALLING HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF THE "AUTO STOP START" FEATURE BEING DISABLED OR ENABLED, AND HAPPENS APPROXIMATELY ONCE EVERY THREE OR MORE COMPLETE STOPS BUT USUALLY NOT FOR THE FIRST 3 WHEN THE CAR IS FIRST TURNED ON. THE CAR ALSO MAKES AN AUDIBLE GRINDING SOUND WHEN ENGINE STALLS. IN ALL INSTANCES ONCE THE CAR HAS STALLED IT REQUIRES A MANUAL RESTART BY PUTTING THE VEHICLE BACK IN PARK, AND PRESSING THE VEHICLE START BUTTON WITH BRAKE DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE STALLING, THE CAR HAS ONCE TURNED OFF WHEN STARTED REMOTELY AND NO PASSENGERS INSIDE. I HAVE APPROACHED THE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS AFTER REMOTE START WAS ENGAGED, OPENED THE TRUCK, LOADED A FEW ITEMS, AND CAR TURNED OFF. A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. USING A VAG505 SCANNER I WAS ABLE TO FIND 01-ENGINE FAULT CODE 15080 AND 08-AUTO HVAC FAULT CODE 1048838. VIDEOS OF THE AFOREMENTIONED ISSUES HAVE BEEN UPLOADED TO YOUTUBE AND CAN BE MADE AVAILABLE VIA REQUEST.
CAR RANDOMLY SHUTS STALLS. I'VE HAD THE CAR 6 DAYS AND IT'S DONE IT FOUR TIMES. THREE WHEN STOPPED OR GOING 5MPH OR LESS ON HIGHWAYY OFF RAMPS. ONCE WHEN GOING ABOUT 20MPH IN TRAFFIC. THE CAR IS A MANUAL AND ALL TIMES THE CLUTCH WAS FULLY DEPRESSED.
ON 10/18//19 I PURCHASED A VOLKSWAGEN JETTA S. THE NEXT DAY I STARTED HEARING A GRINDING NOISE AT ACCELERATION SPEEDS OF APPROXIMATELY 20-35 MPH. IN 10/21/2019 I TOOK THE JETTA TO ROYAL AUTOMOTIVE IN BIRMINGHAM AL. AND AFTER INSPECTING THE CAR THE MECHANIC (JAMEY MCELROY) INFORMED ME THIS WAS A NORMAL SOUND AND WAS RELATED TO THE AIR INTAKE. THE SCOPE OF WORK SAID THEY DID NOT HEAR THE NOISE AND I MADE THEM CHANGE THE WORDING AS JAMEY SAID THEY DID HEAR THE NOISE. I FELT THEY WERE COVERING UP THE TRUTH BY MAKING THE PAPERWORK SAY THE NOISE DIDN'T EXIST. PLEASE HOLD VOLKSWAGEN ACCOUNTABLE AND MAKE THEM FIX THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE READ SEVERAL OTHER JETTA OWNERS COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND VOLKSWAGEN IS TURNING A BLIND EYE TO ANY REPAIRS. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!
2019 JETTA S WITH 1.4L ENGINE AND 8 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, GRINDING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING FROM 4TH TO 5TH UNDER LIGHT LOAD. NOISE IS AUDIBLE IN ALL DRIVE MODES BUT ESPECIALLY IN ECO OR NORMAL DRIVE MODES. DEALER SAID IT WAS NORMAL OPERATION OF THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND THAT NO FURTHER SERVICE WAS NEEDED. THIS NOISE DOES NOT SOUND SAFE OR HEALTHY FOR THE CAR OR FOR THE OCCUPANTS WITHIN THE CAR. VOLKSWAGEN NEEDS TO RECALL AND FIX THESE FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTERS BEFORE THEY DAMAGE CARS OR HURT SOMEONE.
GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION AT 1200 -1400 RPM. HAPPENS WHEN SHIFTING FROM 2ND THROUGH 4TH GEAR.
THE CAR IS MAKING A GROWLING SOUND WHEN GOING LOW RATE SPEEDS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. APPARENTLY THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS.
2019 JETTA SE PURCHASE DATE 9/28/19, LOUD RATTLE/VIBRATION/ SHUDDER UNDERCAR DRIVERS SIDE, ALWAYS THERE ON LIGHT LOAD ACCELERATION 1600-1800 RPM. CAR SHUDDERS UNDER LOAD 30-40 MPH, ACCELERATION DIMINISHED TO LIMP APPROX 5 SECONDS, ENGINE KEEPS RUNNING, NO STALL BUT FEELS AS THOUGH IT IS READY TO STALL. INQUIRED WITH DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT, HAS NEVER HEARD OF THESE CONCERNS. CAR FEELS UNSAFE WITH POTENTIAL TO STALL ON ACCELERATION, DRIVELINE HAS LOUD RUMBLE AND SHUDDER, WORSENING DAILY, TODAYS MILEAGE 590. CONDITIONS ARE WHEN RUNNING AND UNDER LIGHT LOAD AND HIGHWAY MERGING ACCELERATION. CAR DOES NOT MERGE WELL DUE TO REDUCED POWER THAT FEELS PROPORTIONAL AND DUE TO UNDER CAR SHUDDER.
I'M REPORTING A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH THE 2019 JETTA. WE TRADED IN OUR 2016 JETTA WHICH HAD A COMPLETE INFOTAINMENT VOICE ACTIVATED SYSTEM. I'D SAY "PLAY JETHRO TULL" AND THE VOICE ACTIVATION WOULD PLAY JETHRO TULL SONGS. MY EYES REMAINING ON THE ROAD. OUR 2019 JETTA DOES NOT HAVE VOICE ACTIVATION FOR MUSIC, JUST FOR THE HANDS FREE PHONE. SO, I MUST TAKE MY EYES OFF THE ROAD AND SCROLL THROUGH THE DOZENS OF FOLDERS ON THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN TO ACCESS THE FOLDER WHICH HAS THE SONG I WANT TO HEAR. I CAN SCROLL THROUGH THE FOLDER FROM THE STEERING WHEEL TO GET TO THE SONG. THE 32 GIGABYTE FLASH DRIVE HAS SEVERAL THOUSAND SONGS AND DOZENS OF FOLDERS. SO IT'S A BIG DISTRACTION TO SCROLL THROUGH THE FOLDERS WITH MY EYES ON THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN INSTEAD OF THE ROAD. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD VW TAKE THE VOICE RECOGNITION FOR MUSIC AWAY, AND CREATE SUCH A DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITION?
WHEN VEHICLE REACHES 30-40MPH, THERE IS A LOUD RATTLE SOUND ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. SOUNDS AS IF PIPES ARE LOOSE UNDER THE HOOD OR UNDER THE CAR. THE RATTLE SOUND HAPPENS DURING ACCELERATION RANDOMLY AT ANY SPEED. THE SOUND IS REDUCED WHEN IN SPORT MODE AND DOES NOT MAKE RATTLE FROM 0 TO 30-40MPH, BUT DOES MAKE THE RATTLE SOUND DURING ACCELERATION. DURING MY RESEARCH I'VE NOTICED THERE ARE A TON OF MY SAME MODEL VEHICLE THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER TWO WEEKS AFTER MY PURCHASE TO HAVE IF CHECKED OUT, THE MECHANIC BRUSHED ME OFF AND SAID IT WAS NORMAL. MY BRAND NEW CAR SHOULD NOT SHOULD LIKE PIPES ARE LOOSE AND RATTLE DURING ACCELERATION. ITS REALLY EMBARRASSING AND I HOPE THIS DOES NOT CAUSE A SAFETY ISSUE IN THE FUTURE.
2019 JETTA SE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES SINCE I PURCHASED MY JETTA IN JANUARY 2019 IT SEEMS LIKE MY CAR HAS A SERIOUS LAG. I WAS DRIVING AND WENT TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AND AS I WAS ACCELERATING OUT OF THE TURN THE CAR WOULDN'T GO FOR A LITTLE WHILE THEN IT SHOT OFF.. I NOTICED THAT IT DOES IT WHEN I SLOW DOWN ALSO IT HAVE VERY SLOW RESPONSE TIME WITH THE ACCELERATION. IT DOESN'T IT EVERY SO OFTEN. MAYBE ABOUT ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK ALSO WHEN THE 'AUTO ENGINE TURN OFF' IS ENGAGED THE CAR LAGS AND SOMETIMBES DOESN'T WANT TO GO.. SOMETIME I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON. OR SHIFT IT OUT AND BACK INTO GEARS AT RED LIGHTS OR DRIVE THROUGH I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SAVANNAH VOLKSWAGEN AND THEY SAY THEY CAN'T FIND A ISSUE OR A FIX. I HONESTLY DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR.. ESPECIALLY WITH MY KIDS
MY CAR IS 2 WEEKS OLD WITH 400 MILES ON THE CAR. SINCE THE ODOMETER HAD APROX 100 MILES ON IT THE CAR HAS BEEN HAVING A ISSUE WITH STALLING WHEN COMING TO A STOP. IN THE PAST 2 WEEKS IT HAS STALLED APROX 26 TIMES WHEN COMING TO A STOP. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS ISSUE BECAUSE THE CAR STALLED 3 TIMES IN A 15 MILE DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC. THE CAR IS VERY UNPREDICTABLE AS TO WHEN IT WILL DECIDE TO STALL BUT BECOMES A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN COMMUTING ON THE FREEWAY AND IT DECIDES TO STALL. THE CAR IS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND DOES NOT HAVE THE AUTO START STOP FUNCTION BUT STALLS OUT WHEN COMING TO A STOP. I HAVE INFORMED THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS CAR IS VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE MY FAMILY OR ANYONE RIDE IN AS YOU DO NOT KNOW IF IT WILL FAIL AND PUT YOU AT RISK OF BEING HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR AND SHOULD NOT HAVE STALLING OR ENGINE FAILURES AT ANY POINT LET ALONE HAVING OVER 20 IN A 2 WEEK PERIOD. THE CAR IS AT VW BEING EVALUATED BUT I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE OR SAFE KNOWING THIS SITUATION IS HAPPENING.
2019 VW GLI MANUAL TRANSMISSION STALLS UNPREDICTABLY WHEN SLOWING DOWN WITH THE CLUTCH DEPRESSED AND/OR THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED INFREQUENTLY, BUT UNPREDICTABLY. SO FAR IT HAS ONLY RESULTED IN HORN BLOWING FROM THE CAR BEHIND, BUT IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN WHEN TURNING IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC IT WOULD BE VERY BAD. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MANUAL FOR 44 YEARS - IT IS NOT OPERATOR ERROR. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE AS ODI DP 19-003. STARTED AT VERY LOW MILES, HAPPENED MOST RECENTLY AT ABOUT 2,500 MILES.
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY LIGHTS UP. SOMETIMES IMMEDIATELY WHEN STARTING THE CAR, OTHER TIMES WHILE DRIVING AND SOMETIMES EVERYTHING WORKS FINE. AT TIMES WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON DURING STARTUP IT STAYS ON FOR QUITE A WHILE (MANY MILES) IT MAY THEN GO OFF OR NOT. ALSO, WHEN THE PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANT MOVES ON THE SEAT THE LIGHT MAY OR MAY NOT GO OFF. I TOOK THE CAR TO A VW DEALER WHO COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND TOLD ME "WELL, THE SEABELT WORKS, DOESN'T IT?"
MY 2019 JETTA BEGAN EXPERIENCING BREAKING PROBLEMS IN LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. AFTER INITIAL START AND DRIVE AT IDLE, THE BREAKING PEDAL PRESSURE WAS ERRATIC AND CAUSING THE CAR TO SLAM TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS CONDITION ONLY SEEMS TO OCCUR AT IDLE, AND I WAS TOLD AT BRINGING IT INTO SERVICE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING NORMALLY. HOWEVER, THE CONDITION CONTINUES TO EXIST AND BEGINNING IN JUNE, I BEGAN HAVING MULTIPLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS FOR A EVAP LEAK. NOW AT THE 7 REPAIRS AND HAVING MULTIPLE PARTS REPLACED, THE SERVICE AT THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THE AIR INTAKE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THE AIR INTAKE AND VACUUM SYSTEMS HAVE A DIRECT CORRELATION WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER PRESSURE. HOWEVER, I RETURNED THE VEHICLE FOR SERVICE BECAUSE THE READINESS MONITORS FOR THE EVAP WERE NOT SET, INDICATING THAT A POTENTIAL ISSUES STILL EXIST. ALTHOUGH THE CAUSE MAY NOT BE WITH AIR INTAKE, A VACUUM/PRESSURE ISSUE DOES EXITS CAUSING EFFECTS ON THE OTHER SYSTEMS. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING DUE TO THE FACT THAT I HAD INJURED MY LEG IN THE PREVIOUS YEAR AND THE EXCESSIVE PRESSURE AT BREAKING CAUSED ME AGGRAVATE THE PREVIOUS INJURY. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, I WAS TOLD BE THE DEALER SERVICE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING NORMALLY.
ON 9/26/2019 I WAS DRIVING MY 2019 JETTA SE WITH 1,187.8 MILES ON MAIN STREET IN SANTA ANA AROUND 5:50 PM. I WAS ON THE FAR LEFT LANE AT A FULL STOP AND PROCEEDED AT LOW SPEEDS ONTO THE LEFT-TURNING LANE. AS I CONTINUED TO PULL UP ONTO THE LEFT-TURNING A LANE A VERY LOUD METALLIC RATTLING/SCRAPING NOISE WAS HEARD THROUGHOUT THE CABIN COMING FROM I SUSPECT THE TRANSMISSION. I EVEN WAS ABLE TO FEEL THE RATTLING FROM THE BRAKE PEDDLE AS I STILL HAD MY FOOT ON THE PEDDLE. I LOOKED AROUND TO SEE IF ANY OTHER DRIVERS NOTICED AS IT WAS VERY LOUD. I MADE AN EFFORT TO CHECK ON THE ROAD TO CONFIRM THAT THERE WAS NO METALLIC DEBRIS THAT I MAY HAVE RUN OVER. NONE WAS FOUND. I ALSO CHECKED UNDER MY CAR TO SEE IF ANYTHING WAS UNDER THE ENGINE AND CAN CONFIRM NOTHING WAS FOUND. THROUGHOUT THE DRIVE, WHEN THE CAR WOULD HIT BETWEEN 1300-1500 RPMS OR 25-35 MPH, A VERY DISTINCT SCRAPING NOISE CAN BE HEARD FROM THE DRIVER SIDE. THIS HAS NOT GONE AWAY AND CONTINUES TO OMIT THAT SAME DISTINCT SOUND EVERY TIME I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND GOING FROM 25-35 MPH. IT IS HEARD EVEN CLEARER WHILE ON ECO MODE.
VEHICLE STALLS WHEN CLUTCH IS DEPRESSED, PLACED BACK INTO NEUTRAL, WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THE STALLING HAPPENS MORE FREQUENTLY AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR 15-30 MINUTES. STALL OCCURS WHIL ROLLING TO A STOP
2019 JETTA GLI 6MT. CAR WILL STALL WHEN COMING TO A STOP IN FIRST, SECOND, AND NEUTRAL. WHEN IN NEUTRAL, CLUTCH CAN BE EITHER IN OR OUT TO REPLICATE ISSUE. HAS HAPPENED WHEN COASTING TO A STOP AT <10 MPH, AS WELL AS WHEN AT A STOP. TYPICALLY TAKES 2-5 SECONDS FOR CAR TO SHUT DOWN. CAR CURRENTLY HAS ~600 MILES ON IT, HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I GOT THE CAR DELIVERED (TOOK DELIVERY AT 300 MILES DUE TO DEALERSHIP DELIVERING CAR TO MY HOUSE).
I JUST HAD MY CAR FOR 2 WEEKS, THIS CAN'T HAPPEN TO ME, NOT AGAIN... THE TRANSMISSION JUMPS WHEN SLOWING DOWN. I CAN FEEL A SMALL JUMP WHEN DRIVING. IT'S LIKE A SMALL RESISTANCE AND THEN IT JUST LETS GO AND JUMPS. IT ONLY HAS 15K MILES AND I CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY OR REPAIR A BRAND NEW CAR!, THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN ON A BRAND NEW CAR!
AROUND 35 MPH, I HEAR A GRINDING NOISE (NOT EXACTLY SURE WHERE IT'S COMING FROM). I DID CALL THE DEALERSHIP BUT WAS TOLD THIS IS NORMAL. SEEMS LIKE I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE.
THE CAR HAS STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES WITH THE CLUTCH DEPRESED TO THE FLOOR AND IN NEUTRAL OR SHIFTING FROM SECOND OR THIRD TO NEUTRAL WHILE COMING TO A STOP.
CAR WILL STALL OUT WHEN COMING TO A STOP WHILE IN MANUAL MODE OF DSG TRANSMISSION, WITH START/STOP DEACTIVATED. DRIVER IS PLACED IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION, MUST PUT THE CAR IN PARK TO RESTART VEHICLE.
THE PROBLEM IS WITH MY 2019 MANUAL TRANSMISSION GLI. EVEN WHEN THE CLUTCH IS ENGAGED, (FOOT ON THE CLUTCH) AND THE CAR IS COMING TO A HALT, THE CAR STOPS/STALLS. THIS ISSUE OCCURS RANDOMLY, BUT ONCE IT STARTS, IT KEEPS HAPPENING, UNTIL RANDOMLY THE ISSUE STOPS SHOWING UP. BECAUSE OF THE APPARENT RANDOMNESS OF WHEN THE ISSUE SHOWS UP, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO CONVINCE THE SERVICE FOLKS.
VEHICLE STALLS WHILE COMING TO A STOP. THE ISSUE HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES AND I'VE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE TWO WEEKS. THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS DEPRESSED THE ENTIRE TIME AND THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE MANUALLY STARTED AGAIN.
WHEN COMING TO A STOP THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL AND THE CLUTCH ALL THE WAY OUT. SEEMS TO OCCUR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS DRIVING FOR A WHILE AND GETS HOT. VEHICLE IS AT 2460 MILES AND DID IT OFF AND ON SINCE 32 MILES.
CAR CONSTISTENTLY STALLS WHEN COMING TO A STOP. WILL STALL EVEN IN NEUTRAL WITH THE CLUTCH DEPRESSED. WILL DRIVE FINE SOMETIMES AND SOMETIMES IT WILL STALL 15+ TIMES IN A SINGLE TRIP. IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHEN TRYING TO TURN IN AN INTERSECTION MULTIPLE TIMES NOW. STARTED AROUND 1,200 MILES ON THE CAR AND HAPPENS FREQUENTLY.
THE SAME DAY I DROVE THE VEHICLE OFF THE DEALER'S LOT, IT SHUT-OFF ON ME THREE TIMES; ONCE ON THE NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE AND TWICE AT A STOP LIGHT. THE FIRST TIME AT THE STOP LIGHT, I WAS WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO TURN GREEN. THE SECOND WAS COMING TO A STOP. FURTHER, I WAS UNAWARE THE VEHICLE HAD SHUT-OFF UNTIL I TOOK MY FOOT OF THE BRAKE AND PLACED IT ON THE ACCELERATOR. IT SHUT-OFF A FOURTH TIME THE FOLLOWING WEEKEND WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF A FOUR WAY INTERSECTION. EACH TIME, THE INFO CENTER IN THE DASHBOARD STATED, "PLACE THE GEAR SHIFT IN PARK AND MANUALLY START THE VEHICLE."
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE VW AND MY NEW (2019) VW JETTA 1.4T SEL. I PURCHASED IT IN 2018 AND IT'S CURRENTLY GOT JUST OVER 13K MILES ON IT. MY DAD DROVE IT THE OTHER DAY AND ASKED ME WHAT THE "GROWLING" NOISE WAS COMING WHEN HE ACCELERATED UNDER LOW POWER/ LIGHT LOAD (SWEET SPOT HAPPENING ABOUT 28-33 MPH). I NOTICED IT WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE CAR, BUT FIGURED IT WAS NORMAL. WHEN I LOOKED ONLINE, I SEE THAT A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS TOO. I'M WONDERING IF THERE IS REALLY A PROBLEM THAT MIGHT GET WORSE AS TIME GOES ON. IT OCCURS EVERY TIME ACCELERATION HAPPENS. I REALLY DO LOVE THIS CAR!
JETTA 2019 MAKES A GRINDING NOISE WHEN PUTTING THE GEAR ON REVERSE(MANUAL CAR). EVEN IF STATIONERY FOR MORE THAN 3 SECONDS IT MAKES A GRINDING NOISE. THERE IS SOMETHING DEFECTIVE ON THE CAR THAT THE DEALERSHIP IS HIDING FROM ME. I DONT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR KNOWING ITS DEFECTIVE
I OWN A 2019 MANUAL JETTA GLI 35 ANNIVERSARY. WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP LIGHT, STOP SIGN ETC.. THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF AT SLOW SPEEDS. CAR IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH START/STOP FEATURE DUE TO HAVIING A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I HAVE TO START CAR BACK UP BEFORE TAKING BACK OFF FROM LIGHT. MAJOR RISK OF ME GETTING REAR ENDED AT A STOP LIGHT AND OR STOP SIGN. APPARENTLY VOLKSWAGEN CANNOT FIGURE OUT ISSUE. HAVE SEEN 100'S OF PEOPLE WITH BRAND NEW VW'S HAVING THIS PROBLEM.
BRAND NEW 2019 JETTA SEL MAKES A GRINDING NOISE ALONG THE POWER TRAIN (UNDERNEATH THE CAR). IT DOES NOT SOUND SAFE NOR CAN IT BE GOOD LONG TERM. IT SOUNDS LIKE METAL IS GRINDING ON METAL WHEN ACCELERATING. IT IS PARTICULARLY LOUD WHEN IN ECO MODE.
TAKATA RECALL: 2019 VW JETTA GLI STALLS AND TURNS OFF WHILE IN NEUTRAL WHILE STATIONARY, AS WELL AS IN GEAR AND IN MOTION. THIS HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS AND IN PARKING LOTS, PUTTING MYSELF AND MY FAMILY IN DANGER. UNSURE OF ISSUE, BUT DOCUMENTED WITH VIDEO FOOTAGE. NO ENGINE LIGHTS APPEARED. THIS HAPPENED 20 OR MORE TIMES YESTERDAY, AND ONE TIME 2 WEEKS AGO.
VEHICLE STALLS OUT AFTER STARTING OR WHEN COMING TO A STOP WHEN THE RPMS COME DOWN
MY BRAND NEW 2019 GLI KEEPS STALLING WHEN APPROACHING STOP OR LIGHT. THIS HAPPENS WHEN CLUTCH IS OUT AND ENGINE IN NEUTRAL.
I'M HAVING AN ISSUE, THE CAR HAS COMPETENTLY DIED ABOUT 6 TIMES. I'M IN TRAFFIC OR COME TO A STOP AND THE CAR SHUTS OFF, THEN WHEN I LET OFF ON THE BRAKE IT'S COMPLETELY DEAD. IT SAYS SOMETHING LIKE PLEASE START CAR MANUALLY. ONCE I PULLED IN THE DRIVEWAY AND THE CAR SURGED UP AND DOWN, PUTTERING LIKE IT WAS RUNNING OUT OF GAS.
I JUST BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA SE ONE WEEK AGO FROM OURISMAN VOLKSWAGEN OF LAUREL IN LAUREL, MARYLAND. I HAVE NOTICED A GRINDING/SCRATCHING NOISE COMING FROM THE CAR WHEN DRIVING AT CERTAIN SPEEDS, REGARDLESS OF HOW EASY OR HARD I GO ON THE ACCELERATOR. THIS HAPPENS ON FREEWAYS AND SMALL ROADS. I STARTED NOTICING THESE ISSUES EVEN WHEN THE CAR HAD UNDER 100 MILES ON IT, AND I STILL ONLY HAVE AROUND 500 MILES ON IT RIGHT NOW. I WILL BE TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AT THE END OF MY WORK WEEK WHEN I HAVE TIME. HOWEVER, FROM WHAT I'VE READ, VW IS REFUSING MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE HELP AND DOESN'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THAT IT IS A PROBLEM TO THEM, CLAIMING THAT THE NOISE IS "NORMAL." HOWEVER, THERE ARE DOCUMENTS THAT PROVE VOLKSWAGEN IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND SHOW THEM ACKNOWLEDGING THAT IT ISN'T NORMAL. IT IS VERY UNACCEPTABLE THAT THEY ARE SELLING BRAND NEW CARS TO CONSUMERS WITH THESE VITAL ISSUES THAT THEY ARE REFUSING TO ADDRESS. THIS IS FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY AND HAS TO BE INVESTIGATED FOR THE SAFETY OF DRIVERS. I AM STILL BAFFLED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN ENDLESS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS YET THE NHTSA HASN'T DONE ANYTHING YET.
WHILE I HAVE BEEN DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AT OR ABOUT 20 MPH, MY PARK BRAKE COMES ON AND MY VW COMES TO A DEAD STOP AND ALMOST ALWAYS GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. CARS BEHIND ME GET MAD AND START HONKING. IT'S HAPPEN TO 3 TIMES NOW AND ONCE TO THE MECHANIC THAT STATED IT COULD BE CATASTROPHIC. I AM A PROFESSIONAL TRUCK DRIVER OF 40 YEARS AND CAN HANDLE THE UNEXPECTED FOR THE MOST PART BUT MY WIFE WHOM COMMUTES 60 MILES DAILY ON A CRAZY FREEWAY TO WORK HAS BEEN FOR FORTUNATE THAT IT'S NOT HAPPEN TO HER YET. I FINALLY COULDN'T KEEP IT TO MYSELF ANYMORE AND AFTER TELLING HER MY EXPERIENCES, SHE REFUSED TO DRIVE THE CAR ANYMORE TILL TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM. I BROUGHT THE CAR BRAND WITH ONLY 10 MILES ON IT (2019VW) WITH A REBUILT TITLE WITH NO MFG WARR. BUT I PURCHASED AFTER MARKET WARRANTY 7YR. 100,000 FOR $4,000.)...I CONTACTED THE CAR DEALER AND MY WARRANTY AND BOTH SAID I BOUGHT CAR AS IS AND BASICALLY SHOW CONCERN THAT WE COULD GET OUR SELF'S KILLED OR OTHERS. THE CAR HAS BEEN AT THE VW CAR DEALER FOR ALMOST 2 MONTHS NOW AND I'VE HAD TO RENT A CAR FOR MY WIFE THIS WHOLE TIME. VW CALLS ME EVERY 2 WEEK AND TELL ME 2 MORE WEEKS ON THE PART (ELECTRICAL MODULE IN GEAR SHIFTER). I AM FACING A SEVERAL DOLLAR BILL AT SHOP AND A COUPLE THOUSAND DOLLARS WITH CAR RENTAL. THAT KEEPS CHARGING MY CREDIT CARD. I AM PAYING FOR A BRAND NEW DEAD VW. AND VERY VERY DID APPOINTED IN THE WHOLE SYSTEM! .
WHILE ACCELERATING, A DISTINCT GRINDING NOISE COMES FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE NOISE IS CONSISTENTLY HEARD WHILE THE VEHICLE IS ACCELERATING BETWEEN 25-30 MPH. MY VEHICLE HAS 8K MILES, SO THIS NOISE IS VERY CONCERNING. THIS SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING IN A NEW CAR WITH SUCH LOW MILES! VW KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND IS DOING NOTHING - MEANWHILE THE CAR IS BEING IMPACTED EVERY TIME IT IS DRIVEN - AND IT'S MAKING THE PROBLEM WORSEN. PLEASE START AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS -- IT'S NOT RIGHT AS CONSUMERS, OUR WELL-BEING AND SAFETY ARE BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF AND YOU ARE GETTING MORE COMPLAINTS EVERY DAY ON THIS ISSUE. AND VW KNOWS ABOUT IT AND IS DOING NOTHING TO FIX THE 2019 JETTAS THAT HAVE BEEN SOLD/BOUGHT ALREADY. SHAMEFUL ON BOTH VW AND NHTSA FOR NOT LOOKING INTO IT.
DRIVING A 6 SPEED M/T. WITHOUT AUTO START/STOP, TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF ME WAS SLOWING TO A STOP. SLOWING DOWN, I SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL TO COME TO A STOP. WHEN STOPPED, THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND HAD TO BE RESTARTED. HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE 3 DAYS I'VE OWNED.
2019 JETTA LOW OIL WARNING: MY 2019 JETTA FIRST SHOWED LOW OIL WARINGING BEFORE THE 10K MILE SERVICE...AT ABOUT 8K MILES. LINDSAY VW OF DULLES TOLD ME THAT WAS NORMAL AS THE CARS WERE SOMETIMES SHIPPED WITH LESS THAN FULL OIL LEVELS AND THEY COMPLETED THE OIL CHANGE AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. OK. NOW I HAVE ABOUT 18K MILES ON THE CAR AND THE CAR IS ONCE AGAIN SHOWING THE LOW OIL LEVEL WARNING. CHECK OIL LEVEL AND PUT IN ABOUT A QUART IN. SOONEST SERVICE APPOINTMENT I COULD GET SHCEDULED IS 33 DAYS AWAY... WE'LL SEE IF I HAVE TO PUT MORE OIL IN BEFORE THE DEALERSHIP SEE THE CAR.
ON MY MANUAL TRANSMISSION GLI, THE ENGINE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY. IT HAS HAPPENED AT A COMPLETE STOP, AT WALKING SPEED, AND ONCE AROUND 10MPH. IT HAS HAPPENED WITH THE CLUTCH PEDAL COMPLETELY DEPRESSED WITH THE SHIFTER IN NEUTRAL OR IN GEAR, AND HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE IDLING IN NEUTRAL WITH FOOT COMPLETELY OFF THE CLUTCH. IT IS NOT A HARD STALL LIKE LEARNING TO DRIVE STICK. IT JUST STRUGGLES AND SOFTLY DIES OUT. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE GEAR INDICATOR WILL TEND TO DISPLAY THE WRONG GEAR, PARTICULARLY WHEN DOWNSHIFTING. I'VE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE RPMS ARE SOMETIMES AFFECTED SIMPLY BY PUSHING IN AND LETTING OUT THE CLUTCH. I FIRST NOTICED THIS PARKED IN MY LEVEL CARPORT. WITH THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, PUSHING IN AND LETTING THE CLUTCH OUT WILL RESULT IN A BRIEF SLIGHT RPM SPIKE. ON OTHER OCCASIONS IT IS COMPLETELY ABSENT LIKE NORMAL OPERATION. I CLASSIFIED THIS AS POWER TRAIN, BUT IT COULD BE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, COMPUTER MANAGEMENT, ETC.
NHTSA: THIS CAR HAS WIDE SCALE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND I'VE ALMOST BEEN IN A WRECK OVER IT. IT'S UNACCEPTABLE THAT SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS AND THERE HAVE BEEN NO INVESTIGATIONS. I TRIED OPENING AN INVESTIGATION ON THIS AND GOT BACK A WEIRD AND DISAPPOINTING RESPONSE FROM THIS DEPARTMENT. AS A TAX PAYER, I THINK IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO HOLD VW ACCOUNTABLE FOR FRAUD AND MAKE THEM FIX THIS MESS BEFORE SOMEONE GET SERIOUSLY INJURED! WE PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM STEVE WHITE VW IN GREENVILLE, SC AND THEY ARE COMMITTING FRAUD WITH VW TO HIDE THIS FROM CONSUMERS BY SAYING SCRAPING TRANSMISSIONS ON BRAND NEW CARS ARE NORMAL. THE DOCUMENT FROM OCTOBER 26TH ON MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATIONS IS PROOF THEY ARE PLAYING GAMES AND THIS NEEDS TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY! THERE'S ALREADY A CLASS ACTION FILED FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM NATION WIDE.
BRAND NEW 11 DAYS OLD 2019 JETTA GLI MANUAL ENGINE SHUT DOWN THREE TIMES WHILE IN TRAFFIC. CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL, STARTED TO SHUDDER AND SHUT DOWN AND HAD TO RESTART. THIS HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING AND THE CAR WAS PLACED IN NEUTRAL DESCENDING DOWN A HILL IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THIS ALSO HAPPEN AT A STOP LIGHT AND STOP SIGN. ALL THREE INCIDENTS HAPPEN IN THE SAME DAY. VERY CONCERNED WITH MY FAMILIES SAFETY. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH VW.
WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, ESPECIALLY FROM A STOP, THERE IS A SLIGHT GRINDING NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE IT COMES FROM THE DRIVETRAIN. IT ONLY HAPPENS BETWEEN ANYWHERE FROM 25-40 MPH AND IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW HARD OR EASY ACCELERATION IS HAPPENING. I TRIED TAKING IT OUT OF ECO MODE TO SEE IF THAT WAS IT, BUT IT WAS NOT. I'VE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE EXPLAINING THE ISSUE. THE FIRST TIME I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NORMAL, BUT NOT REALLY TOLD WHAT IT WAS THAT WAS CONSIDERED NORMAL. THE SECOND TIME I HAD A TECHNICIAN RIDE WITH ME AND HE TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE ABS SYSTEM KICKING ON. I'VE NOTICED DRIVING IT MORE NOW THAT IT DEFINITELY SOUNDS LIKE IT'S COMING FROM THE POWER TRAIN.THE CAR IS A LITTLE OVER A MONTH OLD AND WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW.
THIS IS A BRAND NEW MANUAL TRANSMISSION JETTA GLI WITH ONLY 160 MILES. AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 16 MINUTES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON THE EXPRESSWAY, THE CAR QUIETLY STALLED OUT WHILE COMING TO A STOP ON AN EXIT RAMP. I RESTARTED THE CAR, DROVE TO A STOPLIGHT ABOUT A MINUTE AWAY AND AFTER COMING TO A STOP AT THAT LIGHT THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN AND DRIVE OFF. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IF THE CAR WAS TO STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN OR AT HIGH SPEED ON AN EXPRESSWAY.
INITIALLY THE ISSUE WAS WHEN TURNING FROM A LIGHT, THE CAR WOULD GET STUCK IN A LOW GEAR AND REV REAL HIGH, UNTIL IT STRAIGHTENED OUT A LITTLE, THEN IT WOULD SWITCH. THE LAST ISSUE, FROM A STOPLIGHT, THE CAR GOT STUCK IN A LOW GEAR AND I COULDN'T GO PAST 20 MPH UNLESS I WANTED TO BLOW THE ENGINE. I STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WAITED ABOUT 15 MINS AND SLOWLY TESTED IF THE GEARS WOULD SHIFT AND IT DID. DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY JUST SIMPLY REFILLED THE FLUID AND STATED TO PICK IT UP THE NEXT DAY. THIS CAR'S TRANNY FLUID WAS REFILLED TWICE IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS. NO PARTS CHANGED AT ALL, BUT THEY SAY IT'S FIXED. MUST BE MAGICAL TRANNY FLUID THEY PUT IN THIS TIME. SO NOW I WAIT FOR THE CAR TO BREAKDOWN AGAIN AND HOPE THAT I DON'T GET CAUGHT IN A POSITION WHERE I NEED TO ACCELERATE AND IT GETS STUCK IN A LOW GEAR. AND TO TOP IT OFF, I GOT THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I THOUGHT A NEW CAR WOULD BE DEPENDABLE... I DRIVE SICKLY ELDERLY CLIENTS TO THEIR APPOINTMENTS, AND THERE IS NO WAY THEY CAN ENDURE A BREAKDOWN OF THE CAR AND WAIT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.
THE ENGINE OF MY NEW 2019 JETTA GLI 6MT SOMETIMES STALLS WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS FULLY DEPRESSED (DISENGAGED), WITH THE STICK EITHER IN 1ST OR NEUTRAL. THIS HAPPENED 3 OR 4 TIMES YESTERDAY, AUG 1 2019, AFTER DRIVING WITH MEDIUM SPEEDS ON HILLY ROADS FOR 30-45 MINUTES. THE VEHICLE HAS AROUND 350 MILES ON IT.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION HAVE GROANING AND GROWLING SOUNDS AT GEAR 4,5, AND 7. VERY LOUD AT TIMES. ALSO THERE SEEMS TO BE SOME HESITATION TO ACCELERATE. VW KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND IS DOING NOTHING. MOREOVER, VW KNOWS IT'S THE TORQUE CONVERTER AS THEY SENT OUT A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO UNSOLD JETTA'S TO DEALERS BUT AREN'T DOING ANYTHING TO ALREADY SOLD JETTAS. ONLY SAYING THESE NOISES ARE NORMAL. THIS DEFECTIVE CONVERTER IS ON HUNDREDS OR EVEN THOUSANDS OF JETTA AND EVERYONE IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. IT'S DANGEROUS AND A SAFETY ISSUE.AND DAMAGING THE TRANSMISSION
THE 2019 JETTA HAS A WEIRD, GRINDING/GROWLING SOUND WHEN SHIFTING INTO 5TH GEAR AT ABOUT 25-30 MPH. IT CAN ALSO BE HEARD IN OTHER GEARS, SUCH AS 8TH, BUT MORE PROMINENT IN 5TH. THERE'S ALSO A SUBSTANTIAL LOSS OF POWER WHEN THE CAR SHIFTS FROM 2ND TO 3RD. THE CAR APPEARS IT DROPS ALMOST 800RPM AND IS SO SLOW TO ACCELERATE. WHEN IT'S SHIFTING 2-3, YOU'RE STILL IN A CRITICAL STATE OF ACCELERATION AND WHEN TRYING TO TURN ONTO A HIGHWAY WITH 55MPH SPEED LIMIT AND YOU HAVE A CAR THAT LOSES POWER TO THE WHEELS IS UNSAFE.
ENGINE STALLS OCCASIONALLY, I HAVE THE DSG AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND SOMETIMES WHEN I AM AT A COMPLETE STOP, THE ENGINE TURNS OFF AND A REQUEST DISPLAYS ON THE SCREEN ASKING ME TO MANUAL RESTART THE ENGINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 5 TOMES ALREADY SINCE I'VE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE LAST A FEW DAYS AGO. THE VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 400 MILES ON IT, I'VE PURCHASED IT NEW. I'M CONCERNED THAT THE ENGINE MIGHT STALL ON THE HIGHWAY AND I'M CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY WITH THE VEHICLE.
ENGINE STALLING ON NEW VEHICLE. TWO EVENTS OCCURRED IN ONE NIGHT, 7/23/2019, WITH ABOUT 790 AND 801 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. IN BOTH CASES, THE CLUTCH WAS DISENGAGED WHILE BRAKING AND SLOWING TO APPROACH A TURN. THE ENGINE WAS UNDER NO LOAD AND SHOULD HAVE RETURNED TO IDLE WHEN I DISENGAGED THE CLUTCH. ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING AND HAD TO BE RE-STARTED VIA THE STARTER BUTTON. MY VEHICLE IS A 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA GLI, 6-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND 2.0 LITER TURBO ENGINE.
2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA GLI 35TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION 6 SPEED MT ODOMETER: 408MI BUILT 12/2018 IN MEXICO VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY STALLS WHEN COMING TO A STOP WITH NO CEL. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO RECREATE OR DIAGNOSE THE MALFUNCTION BECAUSE IT'S OCCURRENCE IS INTERMITTENT AND THERE ARE NO CODES LEFT IN THE ECM OR TCM.
VEHICLE DIES AT STOP LIGHT WHILE IDLING AND HAS TO BE RESTARTED MANUALLY.
WHILE EITHER STATIONARY OR IN MOTION, AND NO MATTER WHERE THE VEHICLE IS, THERE IS A PRONOUNCED RATTLING THAT COMES FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR, AND OCCASIONALLY FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE AS WELL, WHEN THE RADIO IS TURNED UP TO AN ENJOYABLE VOLUME. THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD AS IT'S A RATHER IRRITATING PHENOMENON THAT DISTRACTS THE DRIVER WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. I SUSPECT THIS RATTLING IS DUE TO A LACK OF SOUND DEADENING OR OTHER FORM OF NOISE INSULATION INSIDE THE DOORS. THIS NOTION IS FURTHER SUPPORTED BY CONSIDERABLE ROAD NOISE CAUSED BY THE APPARENT LACK OF SOUND INSULATION IN THE FLOORS AS WELL.
BRAKES ARE MAKING A PULSATING SOUND FROM WHEN IT WAS AT 20000 MILES , HAVE BEEN ISSUES WITH THE CAR FROM DAY 3 OF OWNING IT . VOLKSWAGEN REFUSED TO TAKE THE CAR BACK SAYING THATS NOT A VALID COMPLAINT.. ENGINE MAKES A RUMBLING OR A GRINDING SOUND WHEN IT IS AT 35-40MPH ! CAR LOOSES TIRE PRESSURE EVERY WEEK. WHEN GOING THROUGHT EVEN A MINOR POTHOLE IT FEELS AS IF THE STRUTS WERE RAMMED ON THE ROAD !! INSUFFICIENT LIGHTING ! DRIVES ALMOST LIKE A BULL ! FEELS LIKE ITS JUST DRAGGING ITSELF .... AWFUL TO THE CORE ! SEAT FRAME HAS BEEN CHANGED ONCE BEFORE IN 3 MONTHS 2DAYS OF OWNING MY CAR AND IT HAS STARTED TO SHAKE AGAIN BUT WAS IGNORED BY THE DEALERSHIP! AND ALL THESE THINGS HAPPEN WHEN ON HIGHWAY AND CITY! CAR MAKES VIBRATING SOUNDS BUT IGNORED BY THW DEALERSHIP
ALL ISSUES WRITTEN HERE HAVE BEEN HAPPENING SINCE DAY OF PURCHASE, AS OF JUNE 2018. VW CURRENTLY DENIES ISSUES AND CLAIMS REPORTS ARE OF NORMAL OPERATION OF VEHICLE. I LOVE THIS CAR I JUST WANT VW TO PROVIDE A FIX. VEHICLE HAS A CONTINUOUS GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM BEHIND ENGINE AREA WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ACCELERATING FROM 27- 30MPH AFTER THAT IT SUBSIDES. SOUNDS OF GRINDING DEPENDS WHAT DRIVE MODE YOUR ARE IN. ECO HAS THE LOUDEST NOISE. MANY OTHER REPORTS SUSPECT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. VEHICLE WHILE STATIONARY HAS A STRANGE NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT LEFT ENGINE AREA THAT SOUNDS LIKE A ROTATION HUMMING GRIND NOISE, USUALLY OCCURS AFTER VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND THEN STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT. VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION BLIND SPOT MONITOR ON DRIVER SIDE MIRROR LIGHTS UP DURING BAD WEATHER EVEN WHEN NO VEHICLE IS PRESENT IN BLIND SPOT. ALSO, CAN HAPPEN WHEN THERE IS NO BAD WEATHER. VEHICLE WHILE IN REVERSE DURING RAIN IF EQUIPED WITH DRIVE ASSIST WILL AUTOMATICALLY BREAK STOP FOR YOU WHILE NO VEHICLE IS PRESENT. WINSHEILD WIPER BLADES LEAVE STREAKING MARKS INTO WINDSHIELD THAT DOESNT GO AWAY. PAINT ALSO EASILY CHIPS WHEN PEBBLES FROM HIGHWAYS HITS THE HOOD OF THE CAR. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO VW NORTH HILLS 1COCHRAN PITTSBURGH PA THEY STATED THEY DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THE GRINDING NOISE, AND IT WAS MOST LIKELY THE TURBO CHARGE ENGINE. THEY ALSO INVESTIGATED THE BLIND SPOT MONITOR STATING SENSOR IS DIRTY JUST NEEDS CLEANED. THAT'S ALSO FALSE BECUASE AFTER VW NORTH HILLS 1COCHRAN CLEANED IT ON A CLEAR SUNNY DAY AS I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP THE BLIND SPOT MONITOR CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY. THIS VEHICLE AT TIME OF REPORT HAS 23000 MILES ON IT HAS IT DRIVES A LOT OF HIGHWAY. RISK OF VEHICLE ACCIDENT WHILE ACCELERATING USUALLY BETWEEN 30-80MPH WITH KNOWN ISSUES ARE HIGH. PLEASE INVESTIGATE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT 1,500 RPMS, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CROWN VOLKSWAGEN OF LAWRENCE (LOCATED AT 3400 IOWA ST, LAWRENCE, KS 66046, (785) 838-7750), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. GRINDING NOISE AND VIBRATION WHEN SHIFT GEAR AT LOW SPEED.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION GRINDING, BOGGING, SHAKING WHILE DRIVING. WHEN LETTING OFF THE GAS THE TRANSMISSION CLUNKS AND THE CAR SHAKES. HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 25-50MPH.
2019 R LINE JETTA WAS ORIGINALLY MAKING A GRINDING SOUND AT 1500 RPM. NOW I JUST GOT A CHECK OIL LEVEL NOTIFICATION ON MY DASH. THIS CAR HAS LESS THAN 7,000 MILES.
GRINDING SOUND AT LOWER SPEEDS WHEN SHIFTING UP. AUTOMATIC 8 SPEED R-LINE. SOUND TENDS NOT TO HAPPEN WHEN THE CAR IS IN "SPORT MODE". VW DEALERSHIPS SAY THEY DON'T HEAR ANYTHING BUT EVERYONE I KNOW DOES AND EVERYONE ON LINE HAS THE ISSUE TOO. VW NOT ACKNOWLEDGING IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE. THIS HAPPENS UP TO 40 OR SO MINES OR WHEN SHIFTING. CONCERNING NOISE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. COOK VOLKSWAGEN (2110 BELAIR RD, FALLSTON, MD 21047, (410) 401-8684) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED AND INDICATED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE, BUT THERE WAS NO REMEDY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS TO BUY BACK THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
I PURCHASED A NEW JETTA 2019 ON 05.31.2019 AND STARTED NOTICING A TRANSMISSION NOISE (SCRAPING OR SCRATCHING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING GEARS AT LOW SPEED) SOON AFTER. FIRST APPT TO DEALER ON 06.13.19 AND THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR 4 DAYS. ON 06.17.19 SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT VEHICLE'S NOISE IS NORMAL. I MADE AN APPT AND ANOTHER DEALER FOR 06.19.19 (TODAY). DEALER ACKNOWLEDGE SOUND HOWEVER THEY ARE UNABLE TO COVER TRANSMISSION NOISE BECAUSE VW USA ISSUED "TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN / TECH TIP" ON 04.18.19 (TRANSACTION NO. 205788/4) RECOMMENDING "NO FURTHER REPAIRS". NOW CUSTOMERS ARE LEFT TO DEAL WITH ABNORMAL TRANSMISSION SOUNDS WHEN DRIVING AND UNABLE TO FIX THEM UNDER WARRANTY. KEEPING IN MIND THAT I PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE 7 YEAR / 72K MILES WARRANTY. I CAN HONESTLY SHARE WITH YOU THAT THIS HAS BEEN THE WORSE PURCHASE I'VE MADE.
WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 25 AND 40 MPH WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL LIGHTLY PRESSED THE CAR WILL MAKE A RUMBLING/GRINDING SOUND.
"HILL HOLD ASSIST" DOES NOT DISENGAGE QUICKLY IN MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLES WHEN STOPPED FACING UP AN INCLINE CAUSING THE DRIVER TO EITHER STALL THE VEHICLE POTENTIALLY IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS OR BURN THE CLUTCH WHILE ATTEMPTING TO GET THE VEHICLE MOVING CAUSING PREMATURE CLUTCH WEAR. OFTEN TIRES SPIN ONCE THE BRAKE IS RELEASED CAUSING PREMATURE TIRE WEAR. THIS COULD EASILY BE SOLVED WITH SOFTWARE UPGRADES ALLOWING THE DRIVER TO DISABLE THIS FEATURE AND/OR REFINING THE RELEASE TO BE MORE INSTANTANEOUS.
TRANSMISSION ISSUE LOW SPEED LOSS TORQUE CONVERTER ISSUE
MY MANUAL TRANSMISSION-EQUIPPED 2019 JETTA GLI (2.0T) STALLS AT SLOW SPEEDS AND AT STOP LIGHTS DESPITE THE CLUTCH PEDAL FULLY ENGAGED ("TO THE FLOOR") OR THE VEHICLE COASTING IN NEUTRAL. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR THREE DAYS AND IN TWO OF THOSE DAYS, THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING THROUGH CITY STREETS AND AT STOP LIGHTS. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE HAPPEN AT APPROXIMATELY 100 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, WITH THE SECOND AT AROUND 120 MILES. THE VEHICLE SHOWED NO PREEMPTIVE SIGNS OF A STALL, AND NECESSITATED A FULL RE-IGNTIION OF THE ENGINE IN ORDER TO PROCEED OUT OF TRAFFIC. A QUICK SEARCH OF "2019 JETTA GLI/GTI STALLING ISSUE" RETURNS A LARGE LIST OF IDENTICAL OCCURRENCES WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS IN 2019-BUILT ENGINES/DRIVETRAINS.
AT COMPLETE STOPS (6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION) OCCASIONALLY THE ENGINE STOPS. IT HAS HAPPENED COUNTLESS TIMES WHILE IN TRAFFIC. ENGINE TURNS OFF BUT EVERYTHING ELECTRONIC IS STILL OPERATING. WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND LIGHT TURNED GREEN. ENGINE TURNED OFF AND HAD TO START THE VEHICLE UP IN HEAVY TRAFFIC.
ENGINE ON MANUAL TRANSMISSION REPEATEDLY SHUTS OFF WHEN COMING TO STOP WITH CLUTCH PEDAL FULLY DEPRESSED. THIS IS SIMILAR TO THE AUTO-SHUTOFF FEATURE IN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, BUT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH MANUAL. CAR MUST THEN BE RESTARTED WITH PUSH BUTTON START. THIS IS DANGEROUS WHEN IN TRAFFIC.
VEHICLE IS RANDOMLY STALLING WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND THE VEHICLE MUST BE RESTARTED. THIS HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS IN GEAR, IF THE CLUTCH IS FULLY PRESSED TO THE FLOOR, OR IF THE VEHICLE IS IN NEUTRAL. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING IS TURNED ON. THE VEHICLE IS EITHER SLOWING TO A STOP OR HAS COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY AND IN THE DRIVEWAY. I AM AFRAID THIS WILL HAPPEN IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
WHILE IN NEUTRAL, THE ENGINE SHUDDERED A LITTLE AND THEN CUT OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. MOST RECENTLY I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHILE I HAD TO RESTART MY CAR.
UPON ACCESSING THE TRUNK, I HAVE BEEN STRUCK ON THE BACK OF THE HEAD NUMEROUS TIMES BECAUSE THE TRUNK LID DOES NOT STAY UP UPON OPENING. I HAVE HEARD THAT THIS DESIGN FLAW WAS CORRECTED AFTER A CERTAIN MANUFACTURER DATE, BUT I REPORTED IT TO MY DEALER WHO DID NOTHING ABOUT IT AND SAID THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE ABOUT IT.
MY VEHICLE, LIKE MANY OUT THERE HAS A GRINDING OR SCRAPING NOISE EMITTED DURING UPSHIFTING AT LESS THAN HIGHWAY SPEED. DURING THE NOISE, THE CAR HAS A SMALL LOSS OF POWER. IT SOUNDS AS THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION IS COMING APART. IT HAPPENS IN ALL MODES BUT IS MORE EVIDENT IN ECO MODE. THE DEALER IS PLAYING DUMB PRETENDING LIKE IT IS NOT AN ISSUE AND EVEN SAID THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF IT BEFORE. THE CAR CAME OUT OF SERVICE WITH NO IMPROVEMENT.
2019 JETTAS WITH A PRODUCTION DATE BEFORE JANUARY 2019 HAVE TRUNK LIDS THAT NEED TO BE PUSHED ALL THE WAY BACK OR YOU RISK HAVING THE TRUNK LID FALL ON YOUR HEAD CAUSING POSSIBLE INJURY.
ON VERY COLD DAYS (BELOW 10 DEGREES F), THE CAR DOES NOT PRODUCE HEAT. MY WIFE DROVE IT 20+ MINUTES WITHOUT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE EVER MOVING. THIS PROBLEM POSES A SAFETY THREAT BECAUSE OF INABILITY TO DEFROST THE FRONT WINDSHIELD, AND THREAT OF HYPOTHERMIA. THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE AS A COMMON PROBLEM BUT DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM ON SIGNIFICANTLY WARNER DAYS.
THE CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH AN AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT SYSTEM THAT SWITCHES ON THE HEADLIGHTS UNDER CONDITIONS OF DARKNESS. HOWEVER, THE CAR HAS NO PROVISION TO PROVIDE THE DRIVER WITH FEEDBACK AS TO WHETHER THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ACTUALLY ON OR OFF AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT. THIS LEAVES THE DRIVER UNINFORMED. THE DRIVER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR TURNING HEADLIGHTS ON TO COMPLY WITH LOCAL LAWS, BUT THE CAR DOES NOT PROVIDE FEEDBACK TO THE DRIVER AS TO WHETHER THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ACTUALLY ON OR OFF. THIS DEFICIENCY SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW. THIS IS AS YET UNRELATED TO A SPECIFIC INCIDENT.
TORQUE CONVERTER MAKES A GRINDING SOUND AT 1,400 RPM. THE SOUND IS LOUDER WITH "ECO" MODE SELECTED ON TRANSMISSION BUT IS STILL PRESENT WHEN NOT ENGAGED.
MY SUNROOF EXPLODED WITH NO IMPACT FOR NO REASON.
I'VE HAD THE 2019 JETTA FOR ROUGHLY 30 DAYS NOW. I'VE NOTICED A STRANGE GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AROUND 30 MPH WHEN ACCELERATING UNDER LIGHT LOAD. AS IF A DRIVER ATTEMPTS TO SHIFT WHILE THE CLUTCH IS NOT ENGAGED, THE CAR PRODUCES A GRINDING NOISE (BUT THIS CARE IS AN AUTOMATIC). SO I DECIDED TO TAKE IT INTO VW TO BE LOOKED AT (YOUNG VW). THEY SAID AND I QUOTE "NOISE IS NORMAL OPERATION OF THE DRIVE SYSTEM WHEN ACCELERATING." THAT JUST DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT TO ME.. MY HUSBAND HAS A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF AUTOMOTIVE KNOWLEDGE AND HAS MADE AN ASSERTIONS THAT THE ISSUES IS RELATED TO THE THE TRANSMISSION PACKAGE; IN HIS OPINION ANY ISSUE WITH THE TORQUE AT LOW RPMS. VW REFUSES TO EVEN LOOK AT THE ISSUE, AT THIS TIME. WE WORRY IS THE CAR IS DEFECTIVE AND IT DAMAGES THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE AND WORSE IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT CAUSES ACCELERATED HEATING AND FAILURE RATE FOR THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM. MY HUSBAND HAS RESEARCHED THE ISSUE ON GOOGLE, DOCUMENT ID: 32-18-01TT PROVES THAT VW AG KNOWS THIS ISSUE IS A DEFECT PART, THEY CLAIM THAT IT'S 'A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE' HOWEVER, THE DOCUMENT LITERALLY MENTIONS THE TERM 'SCRAPING'. HE HAS ALSO TESTED THE CAR, AND IF HE PUT THIS CAR IN MANUAL MODE AND RIGHT BEFORE 4TH GEAR HITS 2000 RPM, SWITCH TO 5TH GEAR AND LET IT DROP TO AROUND 1300-1400 RPM AND ACCELERATE LIGHTLY (ESPECIALLY ON AN INCLINE); YOU'LL HEAR A LOUD SOUND THAT SCRAPES ALL THE WAY TO 2000 RPM.
CHECK OIL LEVEL LIGHT/WARNING BELL CAME ON. LET THE CAR COOL, WENT OUT TO CHECK THE OIL WITH THE DIPSTICK, WAS VERY LITTLE OIL IN THERE !WENT TO THE AUTO PARTS STORE , CHECKED IT AGAIN, AND THIS TIME THE OIL WAS BACK. CAR WAS OK FOR 2 DAYS THEN LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN.
WHILE ACCELERATING, A DISTINCT GRINDING NOISE COMES FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE NOISE IS CONSISTENTLY HEARD WHILE THE VEHICLE IS ACCELERATING BETWEEN 25-30 MPH. MY VEHICLE IS ROUGHLY 5 MONTHS OFF THE LOT AND HAS LESS THAN 10K MILES, SO THIS NOISE IS VERY CONCERNING. THIRD PARTY MECHANICS HAVE CONFIRMED THE NOISE IS A HAZARD FOR THE TRANSMISSION, AND HAVE ADVISED TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO VOLKSWAGEN FOR A WARRANTY REPAIR. BOTH THE VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP AND VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE HAVE NOTIFIED ME THE GRINDING NOISE IS NORMAL AND OF NO CONCERN. HOWEVER, A SOFTWARE PATCH IS AVAILABLE TO "FIX" THE "NON-ISSUE". VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE ALSO NOTIFIED ME THE PATCH DOES NOT COMPLETELY FIX THE GRINDING NOISE. WHEN I PRESSED FURTHER, CUSTOMER SERVICE NOTIFIED ME THERE ARE NO OTHER OPTIONS AND "THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO AT THIS TIME TO FIX IT." THE DEALERSHIP ALSO CONFIRMED THE NOISE IS PRESENT IN OTHER 2019 JETTAS ON THEIR LOT, WHICH IS WHY THEY SAID THE NOISE IS NORMAL FOR MY VEHICLE. IT SOUNDS LIKE VW HAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE WITH ALL 2019 JETTAS, AND THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW AND/OR REFUSE TO FIX IT.
VEHICLE EXHIBITS A GRINDING NOISE WHILE DRIVING IN LOW GEARS.
1. FIRST ISSUE IS THE CAR RUNNING LOW ON OIL BEFORE IT REACHES THE 10K MILE MARK. THIS CAR SHOULD BE GETTING AN OIL CHANGE EVERY 10K MILES HOWEVER IT WILL RUN OUT OF OIL BEFORE THE 10K MARK IS ACHIEVED. 2. THERE IS A GRINDING NOISE AT ABOUT 30MPH THAT SEEMS TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE GEAR CHANGE. THEREFORE, I BELIEVE THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE IS TRANSMISSION RELATED. THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE CAR WAS FIRST PURCHASED.
THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM DISPLAYS A MESSAGE SAYING 'OPERATING OUTSIDE OF NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE' WHEN THE HEATER IS RUNNING, AND SHUTS OFF DISABLING ANY FUNCTIONALITY. INCLUDING BACK UP CAMERA, WHICH HAS PERSONALLY CAUSED ME TO BACK INTO A POLE AS I WAS MID REVERSAL WHEN IT SHUT OFF. IT HAPPENS WHEN MOVING OR STATIONARY. HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO CAPTURE IMAGES, HOWEVER IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIND THE ISSUE.
TRANSMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER ISSUE. TRANSMISSION MAKES LOUD NOISE IN 5TH AROUND 25 - 30 MPH GEAR. HAS A VIBRATION OVER 45 MPH AND OVER AT STEADY SPEED. VW HAS A SOFTWARE PATCH TCM 37L7 (HELPS TO REDUCE 450HZ VIBRATION) WHICH IS SUPPOSE TO HELP, BUT THEY WILL NOT PATCH CARS ALREADY SOLD. WHEN I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE IT HAD UNDER 10 MILES. IT DID NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE UNTIL I PUT ON JUST OVER 100 MILES. THE PATCH IS MORE OF A MASK THAN A FIX. V W ALSO HAS HAD MANY TRANSMISSION SEAL LEAKS, I SUSPECT THAT THE VIBRATION THE TORQUE CONVERTER PRODUCES IS THE CAUSE.
I HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANY NOTICE FROM THE MANUFACTURER ON RECALL 19V188 - REAR AXLE COIL SPRINGS. I WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECALL VIA THE LOCAL NEWS STATION AND WAS DIRECTED TO THE NHTSA WEBSITE, WHERE I LOOKED UP THE VIN ON MY CAR AND CONFIRMED THE RECALL. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED I WOULD RECEIVE A CALL BACK WITH IF THEY HAD THE PART AND WHEN IT COULD BE REPLACED. 4 DAYS LATER (TODAY) I GET THE CALL AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER. THIS UPSET ME BECAUSE IT IS A SERIOUS REPLACEMENT. I DRIVE 500 MILES TO WORK ON THE INTERSTATE A WEEK! THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR, ONLY 6 MONTHS OLD, WITH A $450 A MONTH PRICE TAG (THE WHOLE PRIORITY FOR LIFE). I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CAR WAS BROUGHT AND WAS TOLD THAT CARS GET RECALLS ALL THE TIME AND THAT THIS WASN'T A BIG DEAL. THOUGH THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO UNTIL THEY COULD GET THE PARTS. THIS IS A SERIOUS HIGHWAY RISK AND AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE, FROM A MANUFACTURER THAT CLAIMS TO ALWAYS HAVE YOUR BACK!!!!!!! I COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF WITH A USED VEHICLE. I'M GUESSING THE MANUFACTURER IS OK WITH UNSAFE VEHICLES BEING OUT ON THE ROADWAY. IF THESE SPRINGS BREAK AND I GET IN AN ACCIDENT, YOU CAN BE SURE THAT I WILL CONTACT A LAWYER.
I ALSO NOTICE A KNOCKING SOUND IN THE REAR SUSPENSION OVER NORMAL BUMPS.
GRINDING NOISE HEARD IN 5TH GEAR THROUGHOUT 1,500-2,000 RPM
TOOK MY CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE DEALERSHIP NOTICE MY TRANSMISSION WAS LEAKING. ALSO HAVE BEEN MAKING A GRINDING NOISE SINCE I BOUGHT IT.
WHEN ACCELERATING A GRINDING NOISE CAN BE HEARD COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION BETWEEN 25 MPH & 35 MPH THE CAR FEELS IRRESPONSIVE. THERE IS AN UPDATE THAT FIXES THE ISSUE BUT IT'S ONLY BEING APPLIED TO 'UNSOLD' UNITS.
ALL SENSORS INCLUDING AIRBAG AND ABS REPORTED ERRORS. VW REPRESENTATIVE OVER THE PHONE SAID IT DOES NOT SOUND SAFE TO DRIVE. DEALERSHIP CLAIMED NO ISSUES FOUND WITH THE VEHICLE. RATTLING SOUND WHICH IS PERSISTENT AFTER VW INSTALLED A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING GEARS. WHILE THE ENGINE RUNNING AND CHANGED FROM PARK TO REVERSE, THE CAR ROLLED FORWARD AND TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. VEHICLE ROLLED INTO A POLE WHICH STOPPED IT FROM MOVING FORWARD WHILE IN REVERSE. ALL PHOTO AND VIDEO DOCUMENTED. VOLKSWAGEN CLAIMS THIS PROOF DOES NOT MATTER BECAUSE 'THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THERE IS ALSO A RESIDUE FROM MANUFACTURING ON THE WINDSHIELD WHICH THEY HAVE ATTEMPTED MULTIPLE TIMES TO REMOVE, AND THE ISSUE IS STILL PERSISTENT. THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD OR ADMIT THE PROBLEM IS FROM MANUFACTURING. MULTIPLE TRIPS TO HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED AND CONTINUED TO BE TOLD 'NOTHING IS WRONG' AND MY DOCUMENTED PROOF 'DOES NOT MATTER'.
SINCE I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR THE GRINDING NOISE HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE THE TRANSMISSION HESITATES TO SHIFT NOW ABOUT 5K MILES IN. I CALLED VW ABOUT IT AND THEY DENIED KNOWING ANYTHING ABOUT THE NOISE. VW CAME UP WITH A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO FIX THIS BUT IT IS APPARENTLY ONLY FOR UNSOLD CARS. I FIND THIS RIDICULOUS. THE UPDATE IS CALLED 37L7, I KNOW THIS INFORMATION FROM A OWNER WHO GOT THE DEALERSHIP TO UPDATE THEIR CAR.
WHEN IN MOTION, AROUND 35MPH AND 1200-1400 RPM, THERE IS A GRINDING/RUBBING/VIBRATION SOUND COMING FROM THE VEHICLES TRANSMISSION AND/OR TORQUE CONVERTER. ISSUE IS WIDESPREAD FOR THIS MODEL YEAR, AND MY SPECIFIC INSTANCE IS GOING TO BE REPORTED TO MY LOCAL VW DEALERSHIP IN THE COMING DAYS. *TR
BRAND NEW 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA MAKING GRINDING/RATTLING NOISE AT AROUND 30 MPH. WAS TOLD BY VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP STAFF/EMPLOYEE MEMBER THAT THE SOUND IS NORMAL FOR ALL VOLKSWAGEN VEHICLES OF THE SAME MODEL AS WELL AS OTHERS. IT IS APPARENT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AMONG OTHER VOLKSWAGEN JETTA VEHICLES BASED ON NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS ONLINE, AND NEEDS TO BE DEALT WITH BY THE MANUFACTURER.
THE CAR PRODUCES A NOTICEABLE GRINDING NOISE WHENEVER I AM ACCELERATING IN BOTH ECO AND NORMAL MODES. THERE IS A GRINDING FEELING IN THE PEDAL WHEN THE GRINDING NOISE OCCURS. IT MAKES THE VEHICLE FEEL UNSAFE. VOLKSWAGEN REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. I FEEL AS THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION MAY GIVE OUT AT ANY TIME.
MY 2019 JETTA SEL OFFICIALLY JOINTED THE TRANSMISSION LEAK AND TORQUE CONVERTER NOISE CLUB. DROPPED IT OFF AT THE DEALER FOR OIL CHANGE WITH 22000 MILES ON IT. GOT CALLED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAS A LEAK AND THE DEALER RECOMMENDS NOT TO DRIVE IT. BONUS, PARTS ARE NOT READY FOR A WEEK AND THEY ARE ALL OUT OF LOANERS. I WAS GOING TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE FAMOUS 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION "GROAN", BUT NOW THIS HAPPENED. ONE THING AT A TIME, VW REGIONAL REP IS GOING TO CALL ME TOMORROW AFTER CALLING 1 800 "FU" VW AND "TRY" TO GET ME A LOANER. I JUST WANTED THIS DOCUMENTED. VW BETTER TAKE CARE OF THIS OR THEY DIDN'T LEARN FROM DIESEL GATE AND WE WILL ALL SEE THEM IN COURT AGAIN. FYI.. I STILL HAVE A WINDSHIELD WIPER CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE WIPER ARM HITTING THE A PILLAR OF THE CAR WHEN ON HIGH. VW PROBLEMS.. THAT'S WHAT I GET FOR FALLING FOR THAT LONG WARRANTY.
THE PERSON ON THE OTHER END OF A PHONE CALL MADE VIA CARS BLUETOOTH AND CARPLAY, WILL HEAR AN ECHO OF THEMSELVES. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE RADIO, BUT THE ISSUE REMAINS.
THERE IS IS GRINDING/RATTLING NOISE FROM THE TRANSMISSION AROUND 30 MPH. VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP HAS SAID IT WAS NORMAL OPERATION BUT IT DOES NOT SEEM NORMAL OR SAFE.
THIS CAR HAS VENT ISSUES AND COWL SEAL ISSUE. THE SEAL IS NOT TIGHT AND THE INSIDE THE WINDSHIELD AND WINDOW FREEZES
FACTORY WIPERS RESULT IN STREAKING, REPLACED AT LESS THAN 5K MILES. PROBLEM ALLEVIATED. TYPICAL METALLIC GRINDING AT LOW SPEEDS, AS DESCRIBED BY OTHER REPORTS. PASSENGER LED HEADLIGHT RING EXCESSIVELY DIM. MULTIPLE SOURCES REPORT OPEN RECALL FOR THIS, HOWEVER, NO SOURCES INCLUDING DEALER AGREE MY VEHICLE IS INCLUDED. SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE POINTED OUT MY FAULTY HEADLIGHT RING. REVIEW OF PHOTOS CONTAINING VEHICLE INDICATE HEADLIGHT ISSUE WAS NOT PRESENT AT PURCHASE. CAN NOT CONFIRM.
GRINDING NOISE AT 30 MPH
2019 VW JETTA S GRINDING/RATTLING/GROANING NOISE FROM THE TORQUE CONVERTER. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR THE 10,000 SERVICE, I TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS MAKING GRINDING AND GROANING NOISES. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO MAKE THE NOISE AND IT IS JUST A NORMAL SOUND, I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT FURTHER USE OF THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND WILL CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL WHILE DRIVING. RECALLING OR BUYING BACK THESES THE VEHICLES WILL HELP CONSUMERS AVOID POTENTIAL INJURIES AND ANY FURTHER FINANCIAL HARDSHIPS.
MY BRAND NEW VEHICLE HAS BEEN STALLING. ENGINE STRUGGLES TO TURN ON AFTER ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS DOWN. VEHICLE STATES THAT THE AIR TEMPERATURE CONTROL SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING AND VEHICLE COMPLETELY STALLS W/O POWER. ENGINE FAILS. ELECTRICAL FAILS.
THE WHEELS FILL WITH SNOW ON THE INSIDE AND WHEN YOU GO TO DRIVE THE CAR IT IS SO UNBALANCED YOU CAN ONLY GO 30-40MPH. FIRST TIME DROVE IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS BECAUSE IT STICKS ON THE BACKSIDE/INSIDE AND HAD TO BE SPRAYED OUT WITH HOT WATER. THAT WORKED FOR AWHILE, NOW TRYING TO DRIVE IT TODAY IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. VERY UNSAFE, DON'T KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. MINNESOTA HAS LOTS OF SNOW AND THE ONLY REMEDY IS TO FIND A SELF SERVICE CAR WASH. IT ISN'T THE WHEEL WELLS, IT IS THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN, NOT TO MENTION THE INABILITY TO USE MY CAR. TOO COLD TODAY, CAR WASH NOT OPENED IN BELOW ZERO WEATHER!
INSIDE THE CAR WINDSHIELD AND WINDOWS FREEZES AND FORMS ICE EVERYDAY MORNING. AIR LEAK IN THE DOOR MIGHT BE POSSIBLE.
I BROUGHT MY 2019 VW JETTA R-LINE INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE 10000 MILE SERVICE AT 9471 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP IDENTIFIED A "STAGE 3" TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK, APPARENTLY THE WORST STAGE BASED ON QUANTITY AND LOCATION OF FLUID. MINOR SHIFT ISSUES NOTED DURING DRIVING PRIOR, BUT NONE ISOLATED TO SPECIFIC SPEEDS, GEARS, OR DRIVING MODE.
THE CAR SHUT OFF, I LOST CONTROL OF THE POWER STEERING AND THE BREAKS FAILED TO STOP AFTER THE COMPUTER SHUT THE CAR OFF. NOW THEY CALM THE SHIFTER IS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDS REPLACED AFTER THERE COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC CODES FAILED TO DETECT THE PROBLEM THE FIRST 2 TIMES AND A TEST DRIVE WOULD HAVE TOLD THEM THEIR WAS A PROBLEM BUT THEY REFUSED TO DO A TEST DRIVE AND RELIED AND FAULTY COMPUTER INPUT. THIS SERIOUS MALFUNCTION COULD HAVE RESULTED IN MY INJURY OR DEATH OR INJURY AND DEATH TO ANOTHER PARTY. THE DEFECTIVE SHIFTER HAS CAUSED INJURY TO MY RIGHT KNEE AND TENDONS. I WAS IN PARK, A PERSON ENTERED THE CAR. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND THE CAR SHUT OFF ROLLED DOWN THE HILL UNTIL IT STOPPED BY ROLLING IN REVERSE UP A HILL BEHIND ME. THE PERSON REFUSED TO BE IN MY CAR AS THE DANGER WAS OBVIOUS TO HER. THE ONLY REASON THE CAR STOPPED WAS BECAUSE OF THE HILL. I LOST CONTROL OF THE BRAKES AND POWER STEERING AS THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF. ANY CHILD OR ELDERLY PERSON BEHIND ME WOULD HAVE SUFFER SERIOUS INJURY. THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM IS REFUSING TO WRITE ANY OF THIS INFORMATION DOWN.
1. 1800 MILES-TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK, THE SERVICE PEOPLE TOLD ME IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH 2019 JETTAS, REPAIR TOOK 2 MONTHS 2. HEATER DOESN'T BLOW OUT WARM AIR WHEN TRAVELING UNDER 40 MPH, EVEN AFTER 18 MILES OF DRIVING 3. GRINDING/CROAKING NOISE LIKE A FROG AT 28-30 MPH AND AGAIN AT 40 MPH 4. BRAKES SQUEAK 5. TRUNK FALLS ON MY HEAD UNLESS I PUSH IT ALL THE WAY UP PER OWNERS MANUAL ADDENDUM
VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED 3 DAYS AGO AND HAS 300 MILES ON IT. THERE IS A CONSISTENT METALLIC GRINDING SOUND BETWEEN 20-40 MPH. NOT SURE WHAT'S GOING ON. ONLINE RESEARCH INDICATES THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND VW IS AWARE BUT CLAIMS IT'S NORMAL. IT CERTAINLY DOESN'T SOUND NORMAL.
I HAVE NOTICED VERY REGULARLY THAT THERE IS A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE TORQUE CONVERTER WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 4TH AND 5TH GEARS SPECIFICALLY IN ECO MODE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE REPEATED STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE VERY TIME WHEN USING THE SHIFTRONIC MODE IN THE VEHICLE AS WELL. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ONLY DISTRACTING, BUT COULD ALSO BE AN ISSUE THAT LEADS TO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE TO THE TRANSMISSION WHICH LEADS TO LOWERED RESALE VALUE.
FIRST, TRUNK OF THE CAR. IT'S UNSAFE AND DOESN'T LOCK UNLESS U OVEREXTEND IT OPEN. I HAVE BEEN HIT IN MY HEAD TWICE BEFORE I LEARNED MY LESSON. SECOND, TRANSMISSION. IT MAKES A GRINDING NOISE WHEN OPERATED AT SLOWER SPEEDS. I AM REACHING 9,500 MILES AND NOISE IS STILL THERE SINCE DAY ONE. THREE, THE ENGINE. I BELIEVE THERE IS A INTERNAL DEFECT BECAUSE TODAY I WAS DRIVING A THE ENGINE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. ONCE I CHECKED THE OIL I SAW THAT THE DIPSTICK WAS CLEAN, NO OIL, NADA. WHERE HAS ALL THE OIL GONE ON A NEW 2019 JETTA? IT SURE HASN'T BEEN LEAKING ON THE GROUND OF MY GARAGE BECAUSE THERE IS NO FLUIDS.
BRAND NEW VEHICLE WITH 300 MILES. FROM THE DAY I PICKED IT UP WITH 37 MILES, IT GRINDS EVERY TIME IT ACCLERATES INTO 3RD GEAR AUTOMATIC TRANS. DEALERSHIP CONTACTED, SERVICE MGR STATED THIS IS "NORMAL" FOR THIS TRANSMISSION. ALSO STATED HIS HANDS ARE TIED ON WHAT HE CAN DO BECAUSE VW HAS CALLED THIS "NORMAL." HE ALSO SAID HE IS LIMITED IN WHAT HE CAN DO AT THE LOCAL LEVEL BECAUSE "WE DIDN'T MAKE THE CAR." THIS DOES NOT SOUND "NORMAL" TO ME. I AM CONCERNED THAT MY VEHICLE WILL INCUR LONG-TERM DAMAGE, WHICH COULD LEAD TO A SIGNIFICANT PUBLIC SAFETY RISK. IT ALSO REPRESENTS A POTENTIAL FINANCIAL RISK FOR MYSELF AND OTHER UNKNOWING BUYERS. THE REP. WHO SOLD ME THE CAR SAID HE WAS UNAWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT THE SERVICE REP. WAS CLEARLY AWARE. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THE TRAIL OF DISCLOSURE WAS NOT EXTENDED BEYOND THE SERVICE DESK TO SALES AND, IN TURN, TO BUYERS LIKE MYSELF.
NOTICED GRINDING SOUNDS FROM WHEN I GOT THE CAR, READ ONLINE AND THOUGHT IT WAS NORMAL. APPARENTLY NOT; THE TORQUE CONVERTER ISSUE IS VERY COMMON. HOPEFULLY A RECALL IS ISSUED. MY IMMEDIATE ISSUE :TOOK IT IN TO DEALER FOR NORMAL OIL CHANGE AT 10K MILES, AND THEY TELL ME IT HAS A TRANSMISSION LEAK, AND THE CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE UNTIL ITS FIXED. THINGS LIKE THIS SHOULDNT BE HAPPENING IN A NEW CAR...NOT COOL VW. ISSUE A BUY BACK!!!!!!!!
SINCE DAY ONE OF OWNERSHIP, MY 2019 JETTA R-LINE HAS BEEN PRODUCING AN ABNORMAL GROANING/GRINDING NOISE DURING ACCELERATION BETWEEN 20-40 MPH. I NOW HAVE ABOUT 5000 MILES ON MY CAR AND THE SOUND IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING LOUDER, YOU CAN FEEL VIBRATIONS IN THE PEDALS AND STEERING WHEEL WHEN IT HAPPENS. I HAD THE ISSUE DOCUMENTED BY MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND FILED A COMPLAINT WITH VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER CARE MONTHS AGO, STILL NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. IT SEEMS LIKE EVERYONE I'VE TALKED TOO WHO WORKS FOR VW HAS ALMOST BEEN INSTRUCTED TO SAY THAT THIS IS A KNOWN CHARACTERISTIC. THERE ARE INTERNET PAGES UPON INTERNET PAGES OF DISGRUNTLED 2019 JETTA OWNERS COMMENTING ON THIS SPECIFIC WIDESPREAD PROBLEM, IT SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT WITH THE TORQUE CONVERTER. OUR TRANSMISSIONS ARE BEING PERMANENTLY DAMAGED, THE RESALE VALUE OF OUR VEHICLE'S IS BEING DIMINISHED, AND ULTIMATELY OUR SAFETY IS BEING JEOPARDIZED BY VOLKSWAGEN ONCE AGAIN.
SINCE DAY ONE OF OWNERSHIP, THE FRONT SPEAKERS ON MY 2019 JETTA R-LINE HAVE SOUNDED ABNORMAL/DEFECTIVE. THERE IS A HUGE THREAD ON REDDIT REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND IS APPARENT UPON ALL TRIM LEVELS. THIS RATTLING SOUND IS EXPONENTIALLY MORE NOTICEABLE ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. YOU CAN NOTICE THIS DEFECT DURING ANY GENRE OF MUSIC IF THE CORRECT FREQUENCIES ARE APPARENT IN THE SONG YOU'RE LISTENING TOO, THE RATTLE GETS LOUDER IF YOUR VOLUME IS OVER 50%. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM DOCUMENT THIS WIDESPREAD CONCERN. BOTH THE SERVICE ADVISOR AND LEAD FOREMAN SAT IN MY CAR WITH ME AND IT WAS EASY TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE USING THE BALANCE/FADER. THE TECHNICIAN AGREED THAT THIS IS INDEED A DESIGN FLAW AND ORDERING REPLACEMENT COMPONENTS WILL ONLY RESULT IN THE SAME THING. AT THE END OF MY APPOINTMENT THE SERVICE ADVISOR DEEMED THE CONCERN AS A "NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC" OF THE VEHICLE. IT LITERALLY SOUNDS LIKE BLOWN SPEAKERS OR AS IF THEY ARE COVERED IN LIQUID! I'VE ONLY CALLED VW CUSTOMER CARE ONCE ABOUT THIS AND THEY REFUSED TO PUT ME IN TOUCH WITH MY REGIONAL VW REPRESENTATIVE. I'M PLANNING TO CALL THEM AGAIN, THIS IS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING AS IT'S PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE.
TRUNK HAS RANDOMLY OPENED NUMEROUS TIMES EVEN AFTER IT HAS BEEN FULLY CLOSED. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE I'M DRIVING OR WHILE THE CAR IS PARKED, AND THE TRUNK JUST BECOMES LOOSE AND SLIGHTLY AJAR. IMMEDIATELY AFTER, I WILL CLOSE THE TRUNK, WHICH SECURES IT, BUT THEN AT SOME POINT IT BECOMES LOOSE AND OPEN AGAIN.
MAJOR GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM TRANSMISSION DURING DRIVING, TYPICALLY WHEN GOING BETWEEN 20-40 MPH. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THIS DEFECT, WHICH THE MANUFACTURER STATES AS NORMAL. HOWEVER, IT DOES APPEAR TO BE A DEFECT WITH THE TORQUE CONVERTER THAT COULD AFFECT THE SAFETY OF DRIVER AND PASSENGERS, AND SHORTEN THE LIFE OF THE TRANSMISSION, WHILE ALSO REDUCING THE RESALE VALUE OF THE CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NORMAL BECAUSE THE SOUND EXISTED ON ALL JETTAS. HOWEVER, JUST BECAUSE THE SAME SAFETY DEFECT APPEARS ACROSS AN ENTIRE MODEL OF CAR DOES NOT MAKE IT NORMAL, IT MAKES IT WIDESPREAD. THERE ARE OVER 13 COMPLAINTS NOW ABOUT THE VW POWER TRAIN, AND MOST OF THEM ARE REGARDING THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE. PLEASE START AN INVESTIGATION. ALSO, THE PDF DOCUMENT OF VWS RESPONSE TO THIS ISSUE IS NOT ABLE TO BE VIEWED ON YOUR WEBSITE, THE LINK IS BROKEN OR DOC IS MISSING.
CAR WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW. AFTER 6 WEEKS OF DRIVING AND APPROX 1,200 MILES NOTICED LEAKING OIL IN THE GARAGE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. TRANSMISSION SEAL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT COULD TAKE 2-3 DAYS DEPENDING ON THE AVAILABILITY OF THE PARTS.
2019 VW JETTA'S GRINDING/RATTLING NOISE FROM THE TORQUE CONVERTER. IT'S DAMAGING THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE AND WORSE IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT CAUSES ACCELERATED HEATING AND FAILURE RATE FOR THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM.
THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR VIBRATES LIKE CRAZY WHEN THE RADIO IS TURNED ON AND A CERTAIN FREQUENCY IS HIT (DOESN'T MATTER THE BASS OR VOLUME). THE PROBLEM CAN BE ALLEVIATED BY PUTTING PRESSURE ON THE ARM REST OF FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. THIS ISSUE CAN OCCUR AT ANYTIME - IN MOTION, STATIONARY, ETC.
TURBOCHARGER FAILURE AT 10,000 MILES. TURBOCHARGER FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE DURING MY 1ST SERVICE APPOINTMENT FOR THE VEHICLE.
8 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS A METALLIC GRINDING OR SCRAPING NOISE WHEN OPERATING AT LOW RPM'S DURING ACCELERATION. SPECIFICALLY AFTER THE TRANSITION TO 5TH GEAR. THE POWERTRAIN NOTICEABLY HESITATES DURING ACCELERATION WHEN THIS AFOREMENTIONED SOUND IS ACTIVE. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THIS TRANSMISSION FAILS AND LEAVES ME IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION. IT'S AN EXTREMELY COMMON ISSUE ON THE 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA THAT THE MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE AS AN ACTUAL PROBLEM. THEY CLAIM THE SCRAPING AND GRINDING SOUND IS A 'NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC' OF THE CAR, WHICH IS TOTALLY NONSENSICAL.
TRUNK LID DOES NOT STAY OPEN ALL THE WAY UNLESS IT IS PUSHED AND LOCKED INTO PLACE. COULD KNOCK SOMEONE OUT IF YOU FORGET TO DO THIS. NEVER SEEN A DESIGN LIKE THIS. VW SHOULD ADDRESS AND FIX THIS HAZARD.
AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP, THE VEHICLE DEVELOPED WATER LEAKS THROUGH THE REAR DOOR HANDLES WHEN THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. WHENEVER IT RAINED, WATER GOT INTO THE DOOR LOCK LATCH MECHANISMS AND WATER WAS POOLING BETWEEN THE INNER AND OUTER DOOR SEALS. WHEN THE DOORS WERE OPENED, WATER POURED OUT. I EXPLAINED THIS ISSUE TO MY LOCAL DEALER AND DEMONSTRATED THE PROBLEM BUT THEY CLAIMED THAT THEY TALKED TO VOLKSWAGEN AND THAT IT WAS NORMAL WATER DRAINAGE. I DON'T BELIEVE THIS IS NORMAL FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS : 1) THE FRONT DOORS DON'T HAVE THIS ISSUE 2) THIS ISSUE IN THE LEFT REAR DOOR IS NOT AS BAD AS THE RIGHT REAR DOOR ( A GOOD AMOUNT OF WATER POOLS IN THE SILL IN THE RIGHT REAR DOOR AND I CAN SEE WATER IN THE LOCK LATCH MECHANISM ) 3) THIS ISSUE DIDN'T EXIST WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THE CAR 4) WATER IS POOLING INSIDE OF THE OUTER PLASTIC DOOR SEAL THAT IS ON THE DOOR SO IF ENOUGH WATER ACCUMULATES, IT MAY END UP PASSING THE INNER PLASTIC SEAL THAT IS ON THE FRAME ( THERE ARE DRAINAGE HOLES ON THE OUTER BOTTOM PART OF THE DOOR, WHICH IS FOR NORMAL WATER DRAINAGE. I AM NOT REFERRING TO THESE ) 5) THIS CAN LEAD TO RUST IN THE LOCK MECHANISM AND CAN ALSO BE A SAFETY HAZARD IN COLD WEATHER WHERE THE DOOR LOCKS MAY FREEZE SHUT 6) I HAVE NOT SEEN THIS TYPE OF ISSUE IN ANY OF THE OTHER VEHICLES I'VE OWNED SO, I DON'T AGREE WITH THE DEALER'S AND MANUFACTURER'S ASSESSMENTS THAT THIS IS NORMAL. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE.
THE TAIL LIGHTS OF MY NEW 2019 VW JETTA, ARE A HAZARD FOR ANYONE WASHING THE VEHICLE. THEY ARE VERY SHARP AT THE BOTTOM EDGE AND YOU CAN CUT YOUR SELF. AS A MATTER OF FACT THAT HAPPENED TO THE SALES AGENT THAT I NEGOTIATED WITH ON DECEMBER 27TH AT VW GUNTHER ON DELRAY BEACH FLORIDA. HE WENT TO HELP WITH THE CLEANING OF THE CAR FOR THE DELIVERY, AND CAME BACK BLEEDING WITH A BANDAGE IN HIS FINGER. NOW I AM AFRAID TO CLEAN THAT AREA AND I TOLD EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY TO BE CAREFUL. I THINK VW SHOULD CORRECT THIS ISSUE ASAP
IT APPEARS THAT THE MAJORITY AND OR ALL OF THE NEW 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA'S HAVE TORQUE CONVERTER DEFECTS. THE DEFECT CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO EMIT A LOUD SCRAPE AND GRINDING NOISE WHICH CAN DISTRACT THE DRIVER. THE COULD CAUSE DRIVERS TO PULL OVER AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE NEW 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA THAT I HAVE BEEN DRIVING HAS BEEN TO THE SHOP 3 TIMES DUE TO THIS SOUND THE TRANSMISSION IS MAKING ON THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT'S A 'NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC' OF THE CAR. HOWEVER, THIS NEEDS TO REVIEWED BY A 3RD PARTY AS PROPERLY FUNCTIONING AND SAFE TRANSMISSIONS DO NOT GRIND OR SCRAPE AS THESE NOISES GENERALLY MEAN THAT INTERNAL DAMAGE IS OCCURRING INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION. VOLKSWAGEN ALLOWED ME TO REVIEW A DOCUMENT STATING THEY WERE AWARE OF THE TORQUE CONVERTER ISSUE WITH THIS CAR, HOWEVER, THEY ARE CLAIMING IT'S NORMAL. AGAIN, SAFE TORQUE CONVERTERS DO NOT GRIND OR SCRAPE. HERE'S THE ID TO THE VOLKSWAGEN DOCUMENT THAT CAN BE REQUESTED FROM VW: 32-18-01TT. THE 2019 VW JETTA THAT I HAVE WAS TAKEN TO A 3RD PARTY TRANSMISSION EXPERT AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A SERIOUS DEFECT AND THEY DID NOT FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME. I FEEL THE SAME WAY, HOWEVER, I'M BEING TOLD BY VW AND THEIR DEALERSHIPS THAT GRINDING TRANSMISSIONS ARE NORMAL AND SAFE WHICH CONTRADICTS REALITY. GRINDING TRANSMISSIONS ON NEW VEHICLES ARE NOT SAFE, THEY'RE DEFECTIVE AND SAYING THAT THEY ARE NORMAL IS LEGALLY CONCERNING. PLEASE LOOK INTO THE SAFETY AND VALUE IMPLICATIONS OF THIS ISSUE FOR A NEW 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA'S. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND JUST WANT THE PROBLEM FIXED BY VOLKSWAGEN. THEY HAVE REFUSED TO HELP ME 3 TIMES AND I HAVE BEEN GIVEN A RUN AROUND BY VW REGIONAL CARE PROVIDERS WITH THIS ISSUE, TOO (IT'S BEEN A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE DEALING WITH VW AT TRYING TO GET THE VEHICLE BOUGHT BACK FOR SUCH A BAD DEFECT).
I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN EARLY MAY 2018. EARLY ON, I EXPERIENCED INCREASING RPM WHEN THE GAS WAS RELEASED AND THE CLUTCH ENGAGED. A SLIGHT BURNING SMELL COULD BE DETECTED FROM THE CLUTCH SOME OF THE TIME. HOWEVER, ON 3 OCCASIONS, THIS MALFUNCTION WAS EXTRAORDINARY, WHERE THE ENGINE RPM SOARED VERY HIGH AND THE CLUTCH DID NOT SEEM TO FULLY DISENGAGE. ON ALL THREE INCIDENTS, THE BURNING SMELL WAS SIGNIFICANT. WITH ONLY 5800 MILES, THE DEALERSHIP DISCOVERED THAT THE CLUTCH WAS WORN TO THE RIVETS. VW OF AMERICA'S RESPONSE; 'OPERATOR ERROR' ' NOT A WARRANTY CONCERN. POINT OF REFERENCE: I HAVE OWNED / OPERATED 8 CARS WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION OVER THE PAST 43 YEARS FOR A TOTAL OF OVER 700,000 MILES OF DRIVING. I HAVE NEVER NEEDED TO SERVICE A CLUTCH UNDER 100,000 MILES OF SERVICE. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THIS MALFUNCTION, AS IT ONLY OCCURRED A FEW TIMES EACH MONTH. VW OF AMERICA AGREES IT IS VERY UNUSUAL TO HAVE A CLUTCH WEAR SO QUICKLY, BUT ALSO BELIEVES IT IS DUE TO THE WAY I DRIVE THE CAR AND NOT COVERED BY THEIR WARRANTY. 90% OF MY DRIVING IS ON A 30 MILE (INTERSTATE) SEGMENT BETWEEN MY HOME AND O'HARE AIRPORT (I AM AN AIRLINE PILOT). I CANNOT IMAGINE THE DELIBERATE EFFORT IT WOULD TAKE, OR THE PAIN IN SITTING THROUGH THE KIND OF 'NORMAL' CLUTCH ACTION IT WOULD REQUIRE TO WEAR MY CLUTCH DOWN TO NOTHING IN JUST 5800 MILES. VW OF AMERICA GAVE ME 30 DAYS TO ACCEPT THEIR FINAL OFFER: A REDUCED COST TO ME FOR THE REPAIR OF MY WORN CLUTCH. VW IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THAT THERE IS ANYTHING MECHANICALLY WRONG WITH MY CAR OR THE OPERATION OF THE MANUAL CLUTCH SYSTEM. THERE IS NO CONCERN FOR THE ONGOING ISSUE ONCE THE CLUTCH HAS BEEN RESTORED.
TAKATA RECALL- I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN BECAUSE THE HORN ON THE VEHICLE WAS GOING OFF RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. ONCE DIAGNOSED VW DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT WAS BECAUSE THE FIREWALL OF THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN SEALED, THEREFORE WATER WAS ENTERING THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS MOLD FOUND IN THE VEHICLE, WHICH NOW THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR OVER TWO WEEKS, AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A COMPLETION DATE FROM THE DEALERSHIP. THEY HAVE ACTUALLY MADE NO EFFORTS TO CONTACT ME.
TRANSMISSION GRINDING NOISE FROM DRIVER SIDE OF VEHICLE WHEN AT OR PASSING 29-31 MPH. NOISE DIMINISHES AND THEN RETURNS AGAIN AT 39-41 MPH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH OR HIGHER, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD BUZZING AND GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SUNRISE VOLKSWAGEN (931 SUNRISE HWY, LYNBROOK, NY 11563, (516) 596-5970) TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION CHECKED, BUT AN APPOINTMENT COULD NOT BE MADE UNTIL JANUARY 18, 2019. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 250. *DT CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER NO "REPAIR" WOULD BE NEEDED THAT THEY FELT IT IS NORMAL. *JB
WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON MEDIUM AND HIGH SETTINGS, HITS A PILLAR AND MAKE A LOUD TAPPING METALLIC EVERY WIPE. IT'S A POOR QUALITY SOUND THAT GETS WORSE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS BECAUSE OF ADDED WIND STRESS TO WIPERS. MY 2005 BEATER NISSAN SENTRA WIPERS OPERATING SOUNDS LIKE A LEXUS COMPARED TO THIS 2019 JETTA SEL. TOLD DEALER, THEY TESTED AND CONFIRMED IT'S A PROBLEM. REPAIRED CAR WITH A "WIPER ARM ADJUSTMENT". I PICK UP CAR AND OF COARSE, WIPERS STILL MAKE THE STUPID NOISE. I WILL TAKE BACK NEXT OIL CHANGE AND PUSH HARDER. IT RUINS THIS CARS REFINEMENT WHEN ITS RAINING, IT'S SO ANNOYING AND VERY NOTICABLE.
THE VEHICLE SUSPENSION HARNESS SYSTEM WAS DAMAGED BY VW ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE'S CONTRACTED TOW COMPANY.
WELL AGAIN MY I HAD TO TAKE MY 2019 JETTA BACK TO LUNDE'S IN PEORIA, AZ. AFTER THE TRANSMISSION LEAK WAS FIXED IN AUGUST, I NOTICED ABOUT A MONTH LATER THE CAR WAS JERKING A LOT AND NOT ACCELERATING WHEN I HAD MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL. ( LIKE WHEN YOU PUSH ON THE GAS, BUT DISCOVER YOUR CAR IS NEUTRAL AND NOT DRIVE.) THIS BECAME VERY DANGEROUS AND THE DELAY TIME WAS GETTING LONGER AND LONGER TO THE POINT WHERE IT WAS ABOUT HALF A MINUTE BEFORE IT WOULD ACCELERATE. OR WOULD BE ACCELERATING FINE THEN MID DRIVE OR WHEN TURNING, IT WOULD JUST STOP AND COAST AND NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN WHEN YOU PUSHED YOUR FOOT ON THE GAS OTHER THEN THE CAR REVVING AND NOT MOVING. I TOOK MY JETTA BACK INTO LUNDE'S (AGAIN) AND THEY HAD MY CAR FOR A MONTH. THEY REPLACED THE O RINGS, AS PEOPLE HAVE MENTIONED ON HERE AND I WAS TOLD THAT NOW VW HAS REMADE ALL THE O RINGS TO WORK AND FIT PROPERLY IN THE TRANSMISSION. I PICKED UP MY CAR AT LUNDE'S AND IMMEDIATELY WENT TO GET GAS. I WAS WAITING IN LINE WITH THE CAR IN PARK & STILL RUNNING. WHEN I WENT TO PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE SAID RESTART ENGINE! SO THE CAR SHUT OFF ON ME! I CALLED LUNDE'S BACK AND WAS TOLD IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN TO CALL THEM. WELL, IT DID, AND I DID NOT CALL THEM BACK BECAUSE I OPENED UP A CASE WITH VW OF AMERICA TO TRY TO GET A BUYBACK OR REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. NOW I HAVE TO WAIT TO SEE IF MY AUTO LOAN COMPANY FIRST INVESTORS WILL PROCESS THE SUBSTITUTION OF COLLATERAL REQUEST. THIS WAY I CAN KEEP EVERYTHING THE SAME ON MY LOAN (BC I UPGRADED AND NOW HAVE NEGATIVE EQUITY THE BUY BACK OPTION IS NOT FINANCIALLY A GOOD OPTION FOR ME) SO OF COURSE MY AUTO LOAN COMPANY STATES "THEY DO NOT DO THAT ANYMORE". SO NOW I AM GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH THEM SO I AM NOT STUCK IN AN UNSAFE CAR. DO NOT BUY A 2019 JETTA UNTIL VW GETS IT FIGURED OUT ON ALL THE FAULTY PARTS AND DO NOT GET AN AUTO LOAN WITH 1ST INVESTORS. WHY IS THIS CAR NOT RECALLED YET?
GLASS PANEL AT LEADING EDGE OF ROOF SHATTERED WHILE PARKED. LATERAL "CRACK" FROM SIDE TO SIDE APPEARS TO BE THE RESULT OF TORSIONAL LOADING. GLASS WAS NOT DAMAGED WHEN VEHICLE WAS INITIALLY PARKED.
HEAVY ABRUPT GRIND WHEN SHIFTING INTO REVERSE. SOMETIMES REFUSES TO EVEN GO INTO REVERSE WITHOUT MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS AND FORCING SHIFTER. TO AVOID, DRIVER MUST FIRST SHIFT TO 1ST GEAR, THEN SHIFT TO REVERSE WITHOUT EVER LIFTING OFF OF THE CLUTCH DIRING THAT SEQUENCE. AND WHEN EXECUTING THAT SEQUENCE, SOMETIMES THE TRANSMISSION DOEA NOT GO INTO REVERSE COMPLETELY CAUSING GEAR GRIND WHEN THE DRIVER RELEASES THE CLUTCH.
THE CAR IS DISPLAYING AN ERROR, IR SAYS. 'ERROR:AIRBAG'. IS DISPLAYING THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AS DISABLED. (THE LIGHT IS LOCATED IN THE CENTRAL DASH) AND IT GOES OF IF YOU DRIVE, MY CAR IS A WEEK NEW, AND I'M ABOUT TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. I GOT PICTURES OF THE MESSAGES IF YOU WANT. THE PROBLEM SHOW WHEN YOU TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH ON, AND THEN WHEN YOU DRIVE FOR A 15 MINUTES IT KEEPING REMINDING THE PROBLEM AND THEN MAGICALLY GOES OFF.
GRIND NOISE AT 30 MPH, DIMINISHES AFTER THAN STARTS AGAIN MORE FAINTLY AFTER 40 MPH. OCCASIONAL HARD DOWN SHIFTS WHEN COMING TO A STOP.
FORWARD COLLISION ASSIST SYSTEM UNABAILABLE
GRINDING NOISE AT LOW RPM UNDER LIGHT THROTLE LOADS AND OIL LEAK ON TRANSMSION UNDERSIDE. PLEASE SEE THIS VIDEO OF NOISE HTTPS://YOUTU.BE/PCV7O3SXZPU. ON VWVORTEX.COM FORUM OTHER JETTA MK7 DRIVERS HAVE POINTED SAME ISSUE.
THERE IS A LOUD AND PROMINENT GRINDING NOISE THAT PRESENTS ITSELF WHEN ACCELERATING, USUALLY THROUGH 5TH GEAR. IT CAN BE MINIMIZED BY ACCELERATING VERY AGGRESSIVELY, BUT ANY LESS AND THE GRINDING NOISE WILL BE HEARD.
AFTER PURCHASING MY VEHICLE 2019 JETTA AT THE END OF JUNE, I HAD TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION LEAK FIXED AND THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRED FOR A LARGE LEAK. IT TOOK OVER 2 WKS TO GET THE CAR BACK. THEN FOR ABOUT A MONTH NOW, THE CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING ROUGH, NOT ACCELERATING WITHOUT A HUGE DELAY & JERKING. IT'S LIKE THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL WHEN YOU TRY TO STEP ON THE GAS. THE DEALER SAID THEY HAVE TO SEND A REP OUT FROM VOLKSWAGEN TO INSPECT MY VEHICLE AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG THAT WILL TAKE SO I WILL HAVE THE LOANER VEHICLE INDEFINITELY. I CALLED VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER CARE TO OPEN A CASE TO SEE IF I CAN GET A BUYBACK OPTION BECAUSE THE DEALER STATED THERE IS NOTHING MORE THEY CAN DO AT THIS POINT.
THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN THE 2019 JETTAS (AUTOMATIC). WHEN DRIVING IN LOW RPM'S BETWEEN 25-30MPH, THERE IS A LOUD GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE CAR. THIS AFFECTS HOW YOU MUST DRIVE. AS SOMEONE ELSE STATED YOU MUST DRIVE MORE AGGRESSIVELY TO ELIMINATE THE SOUND. THERE ARE SEVERAL REPORTS OF THIS WITH OTHER JETTA OWNERS IN MY AREA. THIS HAPPENS CONSTANT. IT IS NOT AN ISOLATED EVENT. I HAVE REPORT THIS TO MY DEALERSHIP AS WELL.
THE JETTA DOES NOT MAINTAIN SPEED WHEN CRUISE CONTROL IS ENGAGED. THE JETTA INCREASES SPEED UP TO AN INCREASE OF 20 MILES AND HOUR, WITH CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED WHILE GOING DOWN HILL.
TRUNK LID DOES NOT STAY OPEN UNLESS IT IS PUSHED UP ALL THE WAY, MULTIPLE PASSENGERS WHEN USING THE TRUNK IN DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WERE HIT BY THE TRUNK LID. WHEN TRAVELING LOW SPEED ON CRUISE CONTROL VEHICLE SPEED WILL BE LOWERED WHEN GETTING CLOSE TO ANOTHER VEHICLE IN ITS LANE BUT IF THE IMMEDIATE CAR SWITCH LANE AT THE SAME TIME ANOTHER VEHICLE GET INTO YOUR LANE, THE FORWARD COLLISION SYSTEM HAS A DELAY IN DETECTING IS THERE VEHICLE THERE OR MAY NOT IDENTIFY THE VEHICLE JOINING YOUR LANE AS A VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY AND MAY SUDDENLY INCREASE SPEED AS NO VEHICLE WAS DETECTED AND RESULT IN A REAR-END COLLISION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SHEEHY VOLKSWAGEN OF SPRINGFIELD (6601 BACKLICK RD, SPRINGFIELD, VA 22150, (703) 544-2973), BUT AFTER SEVERAL REPAIRS, THE HEADLIGHTS WERE STILL FAULTY. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HE COULD NOT EXCHANGE HIS VEHICLE FOR ANOTHER ONE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD CALL THE CONTACT BACK IF THE VEHICLE COULD BE EXCHANGED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24.
THE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT DISENGAGE WHEN THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS TAPPED OR FULLY PRESSED. AS SOON AS THE CLUTCH IS RELEASED THE CAR RESUMES THE PREVIOUS SET SPEED. THIS BEHAVIOR WHICH IS INCONSISTENT WITH ANY STANDARD VEHICLE I HAVE EVER DRIVEN CREATES AN UNSAFE SITUATION IF THE CAR IS IN CRUISE, APPROACHING A SLOWER CAR, AND THE SPEED IS DECREASES BY COASTING. UPON RE-ENGAGING, THE CAR SPEEDS UP AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HIT A CAR IN FRONT OF ME.
THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE TORQUE CONVERTER IN THE 2019 JETTAS (AUTOMATIC). WHEN DRIVING IN LOW RPM'S, THERE IS A LOUD GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THIS AREA. THIS AFFECTS DRIVE-ABILITY, AS YOU NEED TO DRIVE MORE AGGRESSIVELY TO ELIMINATE THE SOUND. THERE ALSO ARE MULTIPLE REPORTS OF TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKS. THESE ISSUES ARE ON BRAND-NEW MODELS OF THIS VEHICLE.
REAR TRUNK LID DOES NOT REMAIN OPEN RESULTING IN THE LID CRASHING DOWN ON MY HEAD WHEN I'M PUTTING STUFF IN THE TRUNK OR TAKING STUFF OUT OF THE TRUNK.
