The Park Assist system frequently throws a warning that the system is malfunctioning & requires service. During this time the system does not in fact work. However, the system will work again after the car has been turned off for a while, so it seems like the error message is wrong and it’s more of a software problem then a hardware problem that requires service.
Rearview camera picture quality is poor, even in ideal weather conditions.
On August 28, 2021, I was on I-75 in light traffic going about 70 MPH when a red alert on my screen appeared that said, “COLLISION WARNING.” It remained illuminated for about 3 seconds, then disappeared. It startled me because I didn’t know what evasive action to take. There were no vehicles even close to me. I also continue to receive "Driver Attention Required" warnings from time to time. My dealer told me that can happen if I don't have both hands on the wheel. In all instances, I had both hands tightly on the wheel. I sent an email to my dealer's manager with a request that he document this with Porsche corporate and that I receive a written response that includes the number of owners reporting a similar event to Porsche, Porsche's attempts to ascertain a cause, Porsche’s determination of the probable cause and Porche’s proposed remedy. He replied, "I’ve escalated your concerns to PCNA." They asked me to take my 2021 Taycan RWD in for them to download the event log for analysis. I did that. Hearing nothing back three weeks later, I followed up with another email to my dealer. I promptly received a phone call from the service manager saying that he was told by PCNA "that they reviewed the log, they have never seen or heard of the problem and that they don't know what may have caused it."
I'm submitting this information because I was in a accident and my airbags didn't deploy, taking speed and location of impact into consideration I think the airbag should've deployed, the vehicle that crossed over from the left 3rd lane to make a right turn was luckily hit on rear passenger door of SUV avoiding center pillar and rear tire, however their vehicle airbag did deploy for its front passengers and my passenger EV sports sedan airbags did not. Currently my EV passenger sports sedan hasn't been assessed, it has been towed to Tysons Corner Collision Center in Vienna, VA. I had no airbag failure notices prior to 9/25 accident which occurred on E Market Street and Cardinal Park Drive., Leesburg, VA The claim has been submitted to USAA.
The vehicle would loose braking pressure after a few minutes of driving. This occurred when the vehicle transitions from regenerative braking to standard braking. Dealer states it is a problem with the brake booster.
Got into the car like every morning but car displayed a warning “Electrical System Error, Park vehicle in safe place” Car would not start
The rear camera required by the DOT presents a distorted image making objects appear farther away than they actually are. The problem is a commonly discussed topic as an issue with the camera software on multiple Taycan Forums. See: https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/backup-camera-quality-to-improve.6423/page-3#post-91894 The safety of persons standing to close to the vehicle may be impacted as the driver would think they are father away from the vehicle. Damage to property can occur by relying on the image and hitting an object that appears farther away than it is. I backed up into a garage pillar support which presented being farther away from the vehicle than it was causing US$2,500 to repair. The vehicle has not been inspected, this is a widely complained about issue among Taycan owners See the Taycan Forum https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/backup-camera-quality-to-improve.6423/page-3#post-91894
I am getting a warning and sometimes unwanted braking. the warning is that driver must assume control but this happens when I have all the driver's assist features turned off. on a recent 1500 mile road trip this fault happened at least 10 times at highway speeds.
The contact owns a 2021 Porsche Taycan. The contact stated that while driving 20 MPH, the vehicle began to shudder and then stalled as the "electrical system error, park vehicle in a safe place" warning message illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle failed again soon after restart. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to his home. The contact then called the local dealer and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The next day, the contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V486000 (Engine and Engine Cooling, Electrical System) which was linked to the failure. Despite several attempts to repair the vehicle under the recall, the vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle remained in the dealer possession. The contact was recently informed by the dealer that a German engineer would be sent their location to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 1,234.
I continuously get 2 messages when I start the car: "Rear Cross Traffic Alert Not Available" and "ParkAssist not available". The biggest problem is that when this happens, the rear camera does not work while in reverse. This has caused several near accidents for me. I took it back to the dealer twice, and they could not find out what the issue is, although they did experience it. I also have photographs of the messages.
The car has 130 miles, right at the dealer parking lot, as I was about to set out a message appeared “ electric system error” I was not able to drive further. If I had been on a freeway this would have been bad.
On two separate occasions, this vehicle completely lost all electrical power unexpectedly while driving. I pulled over and attempted to restart car with no response. After approximately1-2 minutes, the car spontaneously regained electrical power. One other occasion, the car was fully charged, but was unable to even be accessed (open doors ) The car had to be towed by Porsche dealer for some software update as it had absolutely no power. The car had to be mechanically opened in order to tow.
2021 Porsche Taycan, was driving on road, 78% battery, and car decelerated fast and turtle symbol popped up on dashboard. From there, no other warning indicators were lit. Car would accelerate very slowly. When the deceleration happened, I was driving, and had to swerve to the side to avoid accident with other drivers behind me. Car was towed to dealership where it is still sitting. Prior to this incident, there was an error in the precooling for air conditioning. The car AC would not work sometimes, and if you turned the car off and back on, it would sometimes work.
I was driving on high 495 in MA at approximately 05:00 in the far left lane at ~75MPH. The car had a sudden loss of power. There was zero propulsion. I had to quickly cross 3 lanes on the highway to the far right side; I was not able to pull off to the left because there was no breakdown lane. Once I came to a complete stop, I power-cycled the car and it resumed normal operations. I was able to keep driving with full power and no apparent residual effects. I did not take a picture, however this link shows the error message I received: https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/motor-control-error-and-system-error.3114/
The Car shut off on highway with no warning. Was sent to dealer for update. update was preformed car has not shut off while driving since but has not started. brought to dea;ler they were unable to replicate situation and returned the car.
This has happened more than once now. I got in the car and as soon as it attempted to start up, I received the following error: “ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ERROR” I was not able to put the car in R or D. There was no other option to start the car. My car is 2 weeks old with less than 750 miles. Porsche has experienced a lot of these problems over the last 12+ months, yet this issue has not been resolved or acknowledged by Porsche. I am afraid for my safety because if this happens on the road or in traffic, there will be no way of moving this car out of the way.
I got a bright red electrical system failure light on my dash in my Taycan and the car is completely inoperable. It won’t even go into D or R. I tried to charge my Taycan the night before and I got an error electrical message. ElectrifyAmerica had to override my system to get it to charge.
I bought the car on April 22, 2021 and driven the new car approx. 250 miles and on a short trip of 2 miles, the car stuttered and shook briefly and a yellow warning light appeared on the main dash. It said something like "engine control issue, is drivable, take to workshop" so I proceeded, a mile later I pulled into the driveway of a relative and the yellow warning turned red and started beeping repeatedly. It said the "car could not go into park". I blocked the back wheel and turned the car off, locked it and came back about 3-4 hours later. The beeping started again and the red warning returned. It started and went into reverse but died once the car was in the street. Put in neutral and pushed to the curb. Tow truck Porsche sent took car to dealer on May 9th and they checked it into service on the following day. It has stayed at the dealer service center ever since and counting today, that is 37 days. Finally, they are shipping a new transmission from Germany to install in the car. They have tried several attempts to fix and shipped a shifter motor from Germany that did not fix the issue. At this point I do not think they know, for sure, what is wrong with the car. I have requested that Porsche North America buyback the car so I can buy another one. They keep telling me to be patient while they investigate and go through their processes. We are nearing 6 weeks of no progress.
I was driving on an Interstate highway and saw the "Engine Control Error" message and advised to find a place to park. The car began decelerating and would not respond to pressing the accelerator pedal. An exit was coming up so I managed to get onto that exit and roll through the stop sign at the bottom of the ramp so that I was half in and half off the shoulder. The car wouldn't move forward or do anything other than continue with the air conditioning (thankfully). I contacted Porsche through the Breakdown call button on the PCM and they arranged for a towing service to come get the car and take me to the nearby dealership (20 minutes away). It took 3 hours for that to happen. I contacted the dealership in the meantime to see whether they could get me a loaner car or even a ride home. "No" on both. After 90 minutes, the car turned itself off while we waited for that towing service and I turned it back on to be able to use the air conditioning. It came back on and the message cleared. I was tempted to try driving it to the dealership but I was in a relatively safe place and didn't know whether the car would become un-drivable again, this time perhaps with even a worse safety outcome. I was fortunate that the car ceased to move forward right in line with an Interstate exit. I don't know how bad things could have gotten if I had been in a more precarious place. It might well have stopped right on the highway with no shoulder, a sharp turn, or a bridge leaving me no place to go.
I was driving at a low speed and the car suddenly stop and couldn’t move. The front screen of the car said engine failure error. It was like when you drive shifter cars and you do not press the clutch the car power out. I need to turn off the car and restarted. The car continue to work properly. I also notice that my car have been having charging issues. I do not know if this is related to the engine issue. Please fill free to contact me for further investigation.
While driving i experienced a sudden loss of power, I was traveling on an interstate going approximately 75 mph when the car suddenly and without warning came to a sudden stop by itself causing multiple cars to swerve and endangering myself and multiple other drivers. The car restarted shortly afterwards however I was at a complete stop in the middle of traffic, I then experienced this problem yet again, this time I was going slowly; however, I was in the middle of an intersection and had to once again restart the car after it experienced a sudden loss of power and stopped itself.
The contact owns a 2021 Porsche Taycan. The contact stated while his wife was driving 35 mph, the service engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle sputtered and loss motive power. After approximately ten minutes, the vehicle was restarted and driven to the residence. The failure recurred and persisted. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not yet diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 4,900.
I was stopped at a red light on a busy street with no-one behind me, one or two seconds before the light changed to green the car shut down with no error message or warning. By then vehicles had caught up to where I was stalled out at the light and had to swerve to go around me. After about ten seconds I was able to get the car started again and to drive off safely. The vehicle has been at the Porsche dealer for the past three weeks saying they can't duplicate the issue and have not "had time" to install the updates to fix numerous other glitches such as my phone randomly disconnecting from bluetooth, the center dash nav console randomly going dark, the XM radio can't be accessed (even though I have a paid subscription, Porsche hasn't been able to get that working during all this time either even getting on the phone with Siruis XM to verify configuration and subscription). 3 out of 5 times the garage door opener fails to open the door. There appears to be serious electrical and computer glitches happening.
The day after receiving my Taycan 4S I took it for a drive and during the drive electrical system error popped up on the dashboard. Before we were able to pull over off the highway the car suddenly shut off and came to an instant stop. Being stuck in the middle right of the highway without even hazard lights working meant multiple cars had to swerve out of the way to avoid hitting us. I am not exaggerating when I say we could have died. Porsche road side assistance was horrible and unable to assist us in the moment. So the police were able to come after some time to block off the road and wait until a tow truck came. I had to pay for the tow to take us to the dealership in Manhattan (which was closed). Porsche road side service told us there was nothing they could do. Finally with the help of our sales rep they sent another tow service to take it to a yard.
Driving at 60 mph on I 95 near Boston; Car suddenly reported Motor control Error on the display and all power was lost; in the right lane of the highway was able to steer off the road onto the breakdown lane and come to a stop; just before the full stop the car shuddered jerkily. After shutting off the car and waiting briefly I was able to restart the car, the error had cleared and driving was again possible.
ON 4/18/2021 APPROXAMTELY 8:25PM. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXAMATELY 65 MPH ON A LOS ANGELES FREEWAY A RED ERROR MESSAGE POPPED UP THAT READ "MOTOR CONTOL ERROR STOP VEHICLE IN A SAFE PLACE" THE CAR STOPPED ABRUPTLY ON THE FREEWAY. I WASNT ABLE TO PULL OVER TO SAFETY. ALL OF THE LIGHTS WERE STILL ON, ON THE INSTUMENT CONTROL, THE CAR STILL APPEARED TO BE FUNCTIONAL. HOWEVER, WHEN THE CAR CAME TO A STOP, (IN THE MIDDLE OF A MODERALTELY BUSY FREEWAY) IT WENT INTO PARK AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO PUT IT INTO DRIVE. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT DROVE AT THAT POINT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY DUE TO THEM BEING CLOSED AT THE TIME THIS HAPPENED.
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 60 MPH, THE A WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED STATING "ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ERROR / PARK VEHICLE IN A SAFE PLACE." FORTUNATELY WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER BEFORE LOSING RESPONSIVENESS. VEHICLE THEN WENT INTO PARK STATUS WITH NO ABILITY TO DRIVE. THEN RECEIVED MESSAGE THAT 12V BATTERY IS LOW. VERY UNSAFE BECAUSE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER IN A HIGH-SPEED DRIVING SITUATION
