Check your vehicle for recalls & safety issues. Models of 2016

Every year, millions of cars are recalled due to safety defects. Common reasons for recalls include faulty airbags, seat belts, brakes, and tires. In some cases, recalls are issued because a car's engine can catch fire. If you're driving a car with an open recall, you could be putting yourself and your passengers at risk.

Have you ever heard about a vehicle safety recall? If you haven’t, it’s important to know what they are and why you should pay attention to them.

A vehicle safety recall is when a car manufacturer finds that a car has a safety-related defect or doesn’t meet federal safety standards. The manufacturer then notifies the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, who can order the manufacturer to fix the problem.

Sometimes, the manufacturer will already be aware of the problem and will issue a voluntary recall. Other times, NHTSA will open an investigation after receiving complaints from consumers.

Either way, it’s important that you pay attention to vehicle safety recalls because they can affect your safety on the road.
