Summary

I bought my 2016 Escalade and was told there was a safety recall on the car. After 3 days, I took the car to a Cadillac dealership to have the recall fixed. When returning to pick the car up, I was told that the vehicles EBCM unit was faulty and could not be updated, and that the module had to be replaced. I was also told that to do the update, the "flash" erased the module, so essentially, my SUV had no brakes so I could not take my SUV home. I was then called on following Monday (SUV was taken on a Friday) that the module is on backorder and there is no timetable for when it will be in stock. I had the car for 3 days, I am paying a car note for a car I dont have. I have been waiting for 2+ months for an update on the completion of my safety recall and still no answers.

OUR 2016 ESCALADE WITH 20,000 MILES HAD THE TAIL PIPE CORRODE AND FALL OF THE VEHICLE. THE REAR BUMPER WAS SUBJECT TO EXCESSIVE EXHAUST HEAT WHICH SUBSEQUENTLY MELTED THE BUMPER AND BACK-UP SENSORS. IF THE ISSUE WASN'T NOTICED, A MAJOR THERMAL EVENT COULD HAVE OCCURRED AND THE TRUCK COULD HAVE BEEN A TOTAL LOSS. CADILLAC HAS REFUSED TO WARRANTY THIS ISSUE. WE ALSO HAVE A 2019 ESCALADE THAT IS SHOWING SIGNIFICANT SIGNS OF CORROSION AT THE SAME WELD. I BELIEVE THIS IS 100% A DESIGN ISSUE. THE SERVICE DEALER, AUTONATION IN PALM BEACH, FL TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULDN'T WARRANTY BECAUSE I ASKED THEM TO INSTALL THE CADILLAC OPTIONAL UPGRADE EXHAUST, NOT WOULD THEY COVER ANY OF THE MELTED COMPONENTS DUE TO THE INFERIOR TAIL PIPE DESIGN. I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE 2016 EXHAUST UPON FAILURE AND THE 2019 WITH THE START OF CORROSION THAT I CAN EMAIL DIRECTLY.

MY 2016 BLACK CADILLAC ESCALADE HAS A PAINT DEFECT ON THE HOOD AND ROOF WHERE THE CLEAR COAT IS/HAS DETERIORATED MUCH FASTER THEN THE REST OF THE BODY; IN FACT THE BODY PAINT IS STILL SHINY AND AS FAR AS I KNOW THERE IS A 5 YEAR MANUFACTURE WARRANTY ON THE PAINT. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH GM ON 2016 BLACK VEHICLES THAT THIS IS OCCURRING. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL CADILLAC DEALER IN WHICH I HAVE ALL MY SERVICE DONE THROUGH AND I WAS TOLD THAT MORE THAN LIKELY I WILL HAVE TO PAY A PART OF THE REPAIR, WHICH IT NOT RIGHT BEING THAT WE PAY TO DRIVE A QUALITY VEHICLE AND IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD. Summary

I HAVE TAKEN MY ESCALADE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A SHUDDER ISSUE. THEY HAVE AGREED TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION SINCE I AM AT 35K MILES BUT THEY COME UP AND SAID MY WHEELS ARE BENT. AFTER MY ROTATION LAST YEAR, BOTH WHEELS ARE NOW ON THE REAR OF THE TRUCK. I KNOW THAT I HAVE NOT HIT ANYTHING OR WENT OVER ANYTHING THAT COULD HAVE DAMAGED MY WHEELS. THIS HAS TO BE SOME TYPE OF DEFECT BUT THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE $1600 FOR TWO WHEELS. AS I SAID, MY TRUCK ONLY HAVE 35K MILES AND I AM THE ONLY ONE THAT DRIVES IT. WITH THESE WHEELS BEING BENT, THERE IS NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE BUT I WORRY THAT IT WILL MESS WITH MY SUSPENSION.

ALSO, THE PLASTIC UNDER THE WINDSHIELD HAS WAVES IN THE PLASTIC AND DOES NOT SIT FLAT AGAINST THE WINDOW. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ON A 4 YEAR OLD TRUCK THAT IS GARAGE KEPT. *TR

AROUND 20,000 MILES WE STARTED DOCUMENTING ISSUES WITH THE DRIVE TRAIN BY TAKING IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP BUT WE HAD HAD THESE ISSUES PRIOR TO THE 20,000 MILE MARK. WHEN YOU WOULD BE TRAVELING AROUND 20 MPH AND TRAFFIC WOULD SLOW DOWN NEARLY COMING TO A STOP AND THEN SPEEDS WOULD PICK UP BACK AND YOU BEGAN TO ACCELERATE IT WOULD SHIFT WITH HARD THUD INTO GEAR. ALSO WHEN PLACING THE CAR IN REVERSE FROM PARK OR FROM REVERSE INTO DRIVE IT WOULD LUNGE FORWARD. WHEN AT A COMPLETE STOP AND SLOWLY REMOVING YOUR FOOT FROM THE BRAKE IT WOULD LUNGE FORWARD AS WELL. WE HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THESE ISSUES A MINIMUM OF SIX TIMES WITH THE FOLLOWING OUTCOMES: 1) CANNOT DUPLICATE ISSUE 2) THEN DUPLICATED IT WAS A SOFTWARE ISSUE AND THEY UPDATED THE SOFTWARE 3) THIS IS JUST HOW THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS - THIS IS NORMAL. THE SAME ISSUES ARE STILL OCCURRING AND MORE CONSISTENTLY WITH NO RESOLUTION FROM TWO DIFFERENT CADILLAC SERVICE DEPARTMENTS. THEN TWO WEEKS AGO THE MAIN SCREEN FOR AUDIO/THERMOSTAT/ NAVIGATION WENT COMPLETELY BLACK WHILE THE CAR WAS ON. COULD NOT CONTROL ANY OF THE AUDIO, THERMOSTAT, NAVIGATION - TRIED PRESSING THE HOME BUTTON, CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. I TOOK A VIDEO OF THIS FOR PROOF IT HAPPENED BECAUSE I KNEW THEY WERE GOING TO TELL ME THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THIS. IN ADDITION, THE BLUETOOTH WOULD DISCONNECT MY PHONE INTERMITTENTLY THEN RECONNECT A FEW MINUTES LATER ALL ON ITS OWN. THE THERMOSTAT DISPLAY WILL SAY ITS 76 DEGREES BUT WILL BLOW COLD AIR ON MY MORNING 20 MINUTE DRIVE TO WORK. THIS IS OUR SECOND CADILLAC ESCALADE ESV. OUR FIRST 2004 IS STILL ON THE ROAD WITH MY DAUGHTER NOW DRIVING IT, I WISH I WOULD HAVE KEPT IT INSTEAD OF BUYING THIS ONE AS WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT. MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE PURCHASED 5 GM VEHICLES SINCE 1995 AND ARE SO DISAPPOINTED THAT OUR MOST EXPENSIVE PURCHASE TO DATE IS RIDDLED WITH ISSUES

THE 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN JERKY AT SLOW SPEEDS FROM ALMOST DAY ONE. BUT AFTER 30,000 MILES IT HAS BECOME WORSE. AT TIME AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND PLACING INTO GEAR IT WILL SUDDENLY AND VIOLENTLY LUNG FORWARD OR REVERSE, WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A SLOW SPEED IT WILL STALL ABRUPTLY, TWICE CAUSING AN ENGINE CODE. TWO DEALERS HAVE TRIED TO FIX IT, BUT HAVEN' BEEN ABLE TO. THIS SEEMS TO BE A MUCH BIGGER PROBLEM RELATED TO THE 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION IN GENERAL.

MY VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 46600 MILES. TODAY WHILE ON A VERY BUSY INTERSTATE, THE CAR STARTED SHAKING REALLY BAD. IT FELT LIKE I WAS GOING OVER BUMPS. THIS IS A VEHICLE I BARELY DRIVE AS I HAVE ANOTHER VEHICLE FOR MY PRIMARY USE. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW WITH 10 MILES IN MARCH OF 2016. THERE'S NO EXCUSE WHY THIS CAR SHOULD HAVE ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION OR ANY OTHER ISSUES. I PLAN ON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO CAPITAL CADILLAC FIRST THING ON WEDNESDAY. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL BE COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. I ALMOST PULLED OVER DUE TO THE SHAKING. IT WAS A VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE WITH MY KIDS RIDING WITH ME.

PURCHASED 2016 CADILLAC ESCALADE ESV FOR MY WIFE ON OUR 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY. CAR WAS EVERYTHING WE DREAMED OF UNTIL AROUND 15K MILES. BETWEEN 40-50MPH STARTED NOTICING A CONSTANT SHUTTER. THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WOULD DRIVE LIKE WE WERE DRIVING OVER THE WARNING BUMPS ON SIDE OF ROAD. IN THE SAME TIME FRAME WE STARTED NOTICING THE VEHICLE WOULD SHIFT HARD FROM PARK TO REVERSE AT VARIOUS TIMES. CONTACTED DEALER AND SCHEDULED A APPOINTMENT. AFTER HAVING VEHICLE FOR A COUPLE DAYS I WAS CALLED TO PICK UP. ONCE THERE I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO ISSUE OR THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE. I INSISTED THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND WENT FROM SERVICE TO SALES PERSON WHO HAS SOLD ME MY LAST 4 VEHICLES. HE TALKED WITH TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST AND SAID HE KNEW WHAT TO DO. SO THEY FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. I WAS CONCERNED BECAUSE THAT IS A 40K MILE REQUIREMENT, NOT 15K MILE. I WAS INFORMED THAT FROM TIME TO TIME THE FLUID FROM FACTORY IS INCORRECT. SO I ACCEPTED. 2ND TIME SAME SHUTTER AND FLUID FLUSHED AGAIN 3RD TIME SAME SHUTTER, SHIFTS HARD, JERKING, VIBRATION WHEN IDLE, FUEL MILAGE DECREASE AND POWER LOSS AND HESITATION WHEN TRYING GO. CHANGED TORQUE CONVERTER AND FLUSHED FLUID AGAIN. REPROGRAMMED TRANSMISSION. 4TH TIME SAME SHUTTER AND VIBRATION. CHANGED FLUID, REPLACED MOTOR MOUNTS. NOTHING TO THE HESITATION OR HARD SHIFTING. FINAL TIME HAVE BEEN TOLD NOTHING CAN DUPICATE. WE ARE STILL HAVING SHUTTER AND THE WORST OF ALL IS THE HESTIATION. CAR IS CURRENTLY PARKED AND WILL REMAIN PARKED. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND WE WILL NOT PUT INNOCENT LIVES AT STAKE FOR A CAR NOT OPERATING AS DESIGNED. I SEEKED ASSISTANCE FROM DEALER AND GM SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. CURRENTLY HAD TO SEEK A LAWYER TO ASSIST.

Summary

KNOWN TRANSMISSION ISSUE WHICH CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO TO BUCK AND SURGE WHEN YOU PULL UP TO TA STOP LIGHT, STOP SIGN, ON HIGHWAY,OR IN TRAFFIC. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. DEALER STATES THAT THIS IS A KNOWN CONDITION WITH NO FIX. DEALER DESCRIBES ISSUES WITH SOME VEHICLES WORSE THAN OTHERS. GENERAL MANAGER OF COLONIAL CADILLAC WOBURN MA 781-935-7000 (BRET DOUGLAS) STATES THAT HE HAS DRIVEN VEHICLES WITH SAME ISSUES AND THERE IS NO FIX. IT WAS CORRECTED IN THE 2018 VEHICLES BY GOING TO A 10 SPEED TRANSMISSION. OUR VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE MULTIPLE TIMES WITHOUT ANY SUCCESS IN A REPAIR. WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS IT SURGES FORWARD AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT. CONTACTED CADILLAC AND THEY ARE UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP WITH THE ISSUE. THEY ARE CONCERNED THAT THIS WOULD START THEM DOWN A SLIPPERY SLOPE FOR REPAIRING MANY 2015,16,17'S THAT HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. YOU ONLY HAVE TO GOOGLE THE ISSUE TO SEE THAT MANY GM OWNERS ARE DEALING WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO HAVE A RESOLUTION. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED AS A RESULT OF THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE. PLEASE HELP

I PURCHASED A NEW VEHICLE A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO, PICKED IT UP AT 4PM, ON MY DRIVE HOME I NOTICED A VIBRATION WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS FROM 35 MILES PER HOUR PLUS. THE VIBRATION INCREASES WITH SPEED. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER THE NEXT MORNING ON SATURDAY AT 8AM. I WAS ASKED TO DROP IT OFF DURING THE WEEK, WHICH I DID. THEY REPLACED 4 TIRES. THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I BROUGHT IT BACK AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER, TWO TIRES WERE REPLACED A SECOND TIME. I STILL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I BROUGHT IT BACK AGAIN, THE 3RD TIME THEY REPLACED ON TIRE. IT DID NOT CORRECT THE VIBRATION. I NOW HAVE MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AGAIN, THEY REPLACED THE DRIVE SHAFT. I JUST RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMING ME THE DRIVE SHAFT REPLACEMENT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM.

ALMOST EVERY VEHICLE THAT HAS A KEY FOB WILL SHIFT INTO PARK AND SHUTOFF THE ENGINE IF YOU ARE STOPPED AND PRESS THE ENGINE STOP BUTTON. MY CAR DOES NOT AND I HAVE EXITED MY CAR ON 3 OCCASIONS THINKING IT WAS SHUT OFF (ENGINE IS TOO QUIET) AND MY CAR STARTED DRIVING AWAY WITH NO ONE AT THE WHEEL. THE WORST TIME IS WHEN I PULLED OVER TO HELP A STRANDED MOTORIST AND MY CAR TOOK OFF ACROSS A BUSY INTERSECTION - LUCKILY ANOTHER MOTORIST GOT OUT OF THEIR CAR AND STOPPED MY CAR - AVERTING A MASSIVE ACCIDENT. THIS IS A DEATH MACHINE WAITING FOR A VICTIM. GM PLEASE CORRECT THIS.

CAR VIBRATES FROM 35MPH UP TO 80 PLUS. HAD IT TO DEALER 5 TIMES AND THEY KNOW THAT THERE IS A VIBRATION. THEY SAID GM SAID THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS OUT OF BALANCE AND GM WAS DESIGNING A FIX . ABOUT 5 CALLS AND THREE WEEK LATER THEY RECEIVED A NEW SPECIAL TORQUE CONVERTER AND AFTER IT WAS INSTALLED THE VIBRATION WAS STILL THERE. YOU CAN FEEL THE VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL, THROTTLE, CENTER CONSOLE, FLOOR, AND THE SEAT. THE SERVICE MANAGER HAS BEEN VERY POLITE AND HAS GONE OUT OF HIS WAY TO HELP. A GM FIELD SERVICE REP HAS LOOKED AT THE CAR AND SAID IT IS WITHIN GM SPEC,S. I AM READING ALL OVER THE INTERNET OF THE SAME PROBLEM AND GM HAS REPLACED DRIVELINES, WHEELS, TIRES, TORQUE CONVERTERS, SHOCKS, REAR AXLES, ENGINE MOUNTS, ETC. AND STILL HAVE A VIBRATION PROBLEM. THEY HAVE EVEN BOUGHT SOME OF THE 2015 AND 2016 BACK. THIS IS HAPPENING ON ALL GM FULL SIZE SUV'S. CHEVROLET, GMC, AND CADILLAC.

AT THIS POINT THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING TO FIX, CORRECT, OR REPLACE THIS VEHICLE.
