On December 13, 2021 my 2016 Dodge Dart shut down while driving and would not start back up. Had it towed to a repair shop, they could not duplicate the problem. I contacted Chrysler and the agent who helped me said there is no known issues with this particular vehicle. I found at that was a lie with a little google search. Picked my vehicle up and immediately took it to the Dodge dealership. They checked the oil level and it was so low that the tech said that if it would have been driven much longer it would have completely disabled the engine. No oil light, oil was changed recently, no reason for this to have happened. Found out there was a campaign to update software to the PCM module so that was completed along with an oil change. This created a COMPLETELY unsafe situation, luckily there was very little traffic on the roadway at the time. Vehicles with this issue should be recalled or the engine needs to be replaced.

I cranked my car up and backed it down the driveway with no problem. When I went to put it in drive it; the gear shift would move to to drive but the car would no shift in any other gear. I’ve restarted it multiple times and it will no go into any gear only stays in park, but the gear shifter will move.

This morning when backing out of the driveway, the car got stuck into neutral And I was stuck in the middle of the street unable to back up or drive. After pushing it into the driveway, I discovered the shift cable was no longer attached to the shifter lever. The bushing was no longer in the hole for the shifter cable and the bushing itself was still attached to the shifter lever bolt. In March of this year, I took my car to the dodge dealer to have the two recalled parts replaced. One was the shifter cable bushing. When I called the Dodge dealer, they told me to have the car towed to their service department and they would have it looked at and replaced as soon as possible. I verified with them the bushing was covered under the mopar 24 month part warranty. I had the vehicle towed to them. Later, someone from the service department called trying to tell me that I needed to pay a $277 diagnostic fee and I advised them I would not be paying them anything because I took photos and printed out the photos showing them that the bushing was missing inside of the shifter cable that they supposedly replaced 5 months ago. Either they never replaced it or they replaced it with another faulty bushing. In looking at the bushing currently broken on my vehicle, it is yellow in color. When I looked up the parts number on Mopar’s website, the photo of the new bushing is white.

While on the side of the highway trying to change a flat tire. I found that the lugnuts have swollen and my lug wrench would not fit on the lugs. A service truck responded and said he see's this all the time. He went to the next size up in order to get the lug nuts off and said buy new ones with out the aluminum covers over the nut.

When I call into the Carl Burger dealership in La Mesa, CA they said that they will do the backup however; I would have to pay a charge. Not sure why I would need to pay for something that has been recalled and is showing as a failure when I pull the code.

The vehicle got too hot, almost all the electric system of the car had very little energy and blinked, the air conditioning takes a long time to work either to defog the windows, heat or cool. The radio is not working properly. Lights are not level. Emergency equipment is missing as well as an emergency repair tire. And also when I am driving it accelerates and brakes automatically and suddenly. Since I bought this car it has given me many mechanical problems

I OWN A 2016 GT DART WITH JUST OVER 37,000 MILES ON IT. FOR THE LAST TWO WEEKS I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE ENGINE SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING NEIGHBORHOOD SPEEDS SHORTLY AFTER STARTING THE CAR FOR THE FIRST TIME THAT DAY...FROM RESEARCH AND THE SYMPTOMS I'VE BEEN GETTING I BELIEVE IT COULD BE LINKED TO THE OIL AND OIL CHANGE LIGHT. HOWEVER, I'VE CHECKED THE OIL LEVELS AND IF ANYTHING THERE MIGHT BE TOO MUCH OIL IN THE CAR. THE OIL LIFE METER IS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS AND THE OIL CHANGE LIGHT WILL NOT COME ON BUT SHOULD BE AT THIS POINT. THIS CAN OCCUR IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS OR EVEN ON THE FREEWAY. VEHICLE HAS NO INDICATOR TO SHOW ACTUAL REMAINING OIL LIFE TO WARN DRIVERS OF POTENTIALLY SUDDEN SHUT DOWN. THIS HAS CREATED AN UNSAFE DRIVING HAZARDS. THIS IS THE SECOND CHRYSLER PRODUCT I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALERS ARE REFUSING TO REPAIR AND KEEP EXTENDING THE PROBLEM PAST WARRANTY AS THEY REQUEST OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS ALL THE TIME AND WILL NOT DIRECTLY REPAIR THE ISSUE. WE HAVE VISITED 3 DIFFERENT DEALERS, HAZE CHRYSLER IN GAINESVILLE, GA, TRONCOLI CHRYSLER IN CUMMING GA, AND NOW DON JACKSON CHRYSLER IN CUMMING, GA. THE DODGE DATE HAS STOPPED RUNNING WHILE IN MOTION AND ALSO WHEN STOPPED. THIS IS IN OPERATION BY MY SON, AND AS AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVE WHEN HE FIRST RECEIVED THE CAR, IT CREATES A GREATER THREAT TO NOT KNOW HOW TO OPERATE UNDER THE POWER LOSS. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS. HE IS NOT A HIGH MILAGE DRIVER UNTIL COLLEGE SO IT HAS BECOME MORE OBVIOS IN THE LAST 2 YEARS.

I AM UNABLE TO GET THE PART UNTIL MID-FEBRUARY, BUT THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT IT COULD BE PUSHED BACK FARTHER THAN THAT. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2019 I RECEIVED A NOTICE STATING THERE WAS NOW PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX THE DEFECTIVE PART AND THAT I SHOULD CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY DODGE DEALER. WHEN I CALLED TO MAKE THE APPOINTMENT I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A VERY LONG WAIT LIST FOR THIS REPAIR PART AND THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS LIMITING THE NUMBER OF PARTS THE DEALER IS ALLOWED TO ORDER PER MONTH TO 14. IT IS NOW NOVEMBER AND IM BEING TOLD THEY STILL HAVE A LENGTHY LIST OF CUSTOMERS AND THEY ARE STILL LIMITED ON HOW MANY REPLACEMENT PARTS THEY CAN ORDER PER MONTH. I DONT THINK THIS IS AN APPROPRIATE WAY TO HANDLE A SAFETY RECALL SITUATION. THERE ARE OVER 200,000 VEHICLES WITH THIS DEFECTIVE PART. THE LONGEST DISTANCE DRIVEN USING THE GPS WAS AT LEAST 50 MILES. SOMETIMES THE ERROR LASTS FOR ONLY 5 TO 10 MILES AND THEN THE SPEEDOMETER/TACHOMETER BOTH START TO FUNCTION AGAIN. I HAVE HEARD A POPPING SOUND AND ANOTHER TIME WHEN THIS ERROR OCCURRED, I SMELLED A BURNING RUBBER SMELL. TURNING ON AND OFF THE IGNITION SYSTEM ONCE OR TWICE, CLEARS THE ERROR ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE SAME STEW HANSEN DODGE DEALER THREE TIMES IN THE LAST 7 MONTHS AND THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE, BUT THEY CAN REAL ALL THE ERROR CODES ON THEIR DATA LOGGERS. THERE IS A COMMUNICATION ERROR BETWEEN THE PCM AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, AS LOGGED IN THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER. THE DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED TROUBLE-SHOOTING WITH FCA'S STAR SERVICE AND HAS ATTEMPTED GROUND WIRE REPAIRS AND CLEANINGS. THE DEALER INDICATED THEIR DEALERSHIP NO LONGER COULD CONTINUE FUNDING REPAIRS TO MY VEHICLE, SINCE THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE EXACT ISSUE AND THAT I SHOULD MAKE THE SELLING DEALER REPAIR THIS ELECTRICAL DEFECT OR LOSE GROUND WIRE ISSUE.

I HAVE ALSO HAS 2 MISFIRE IN 2 DIFFERENT CYLINDERS. ONE WAS A COIL PACK THE OTHER WAS SUPPOSEDLY A LOOSE CONNECTION. THIS 2016 DART GT HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE 13 TIMES SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED IN MARCH. THE BODY CONNECTOR HAS CORRODED TWICE AND BEEN REPLACED ALONG WITH SEVERAL CORRODED WIRES. THE TELEMATICS MODULE WAS ALSO REPLACED AFTER IT TESTED INCONSISTENT AND WORKING ONLY 20% OF THE TIME (THIS IS FOR THE UCONNECT AND BLUETOOTH). IF YOU HIT 10MPH SOMETIMES IT LIKES TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT EVEN TOUCHING THE GAS! WHILE STARTING THE CAR IT NOW LIKES TO SAY THE KEYFOB HAS NOT BEEN DETECTED EVEN WHEN THE KEY FOB IS RIGHT BY THE KEYLESS START. THE WIRELESS RECEIVER WAS REPLACED BUT IT SAID KEY FOB NOT DETECTED AGAIN. THIS WILL MAKE SERVICE VISIT #14! THIS CAR HAS SERIOUS COMPUTER/ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THE KEYFOB NOT BEING DETECTED ISSUE COULD BE DEADLY IF IT DOES IT WHILE THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN AND MAKES THE CAR INOPERABLE.

ON 5-21-16 WHILE DRIVING AFTER TURNING ON A CITY STREET THE CAR STARTED BEEPING AND THE GAS WOULDN'T WORK. THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR CAME TO A ROLLING STOP. ALL LIGHTS WORKED. THE WINDOW WOULD ONLY ROLL HALFWAY DOWN. VEHICLE WOULD NOT START BACK. VEHICLE HAD 700 MILES ON IT. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START IT BACK WITH PUSH BUTTON AND KEY IT FINALLY STARTED. ON 9-15-16 WHILE MAKING A TURN THE CAR STARTED BEEPING AND CAME TO A ROLLING STOP. THE IGNITION WAS STILL LIT UP RUN. THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. ALL LIGHTS WORKED. RPM WERE 0. VEHICLE HAS 7,062 MILES ON IT. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL TIMES WHERE THE ENGINE HAS TRIED TO DIE WHILE BACKING UP OR TAKING OFF IN DRIVE FROM A COMPLETE STOP. THIS IS NOT SAFE! ON A CITY STREET, TRIED TO ACCELERATE AT A STOP LIGHT WITH THE BRAKE ON. WOULD NOT ACCELERATE TURNING LEFT IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC.INTERMITTENLY (HOPS) IN MOTION EXITING A HIGHWAY, UPON BRAKING I TRAFFIC, STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND IN THE DRIVEWAY WITH THE KEY REMOVED. TACHOMETER HAS REDLINED (6500 RPM + ) MOVING IN TRAFFIC AT 46 MPH ON LEVEL ROAD AND UPON TAKE OFF FROM A RED LIGHT. TACHOMETER HAS REVVED TO 5500 RPM'S ON THE DOWN SIDE OF A HILL WHEN ON CRUSE CONTROL MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR HAS JERKED SEVERELY DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH.INTERMITTENTLY THE CLIMATE CONTROL HAS DIFFICULTY IN MAKING A DECISION ON THE SELECTION I MADE AND HAS TAKEN APPROXIMATELY 5 MIN BEFORE THE AIR ( FAN ) WILL ENGAGE. ALL DASH LIGHTS HAVE FLASHED WHEN THE KEY FOB WAS PUSHED TO UNLOCK THE DOORS. THE AUTO DOOR LOCKS HAVE FAILED TO LOCK PROPERLY AND ENGAGED AT 40 MPH. THE LIST IS LONGER BUT MY FEELING IS IT IS A COMPUTER PROBLEM AND SERVICE SAYS THERE IS NO CODE SO NO PROBLEM FOUND. IT HAS BEEN IN SERVICE 6 TIMES THAT HAVE BEEN DOCUMENTED. MY FEAR IS THIS CAR IS SO DEFECTIVE AND IS GOING TO KILL ME AND POSSIBLY OTHERS IF THE COMPUTER FAILS WITH THE STEERING OR BRAKING.THE ISSUES STARTED @ 500 MILES ON THE CAR, IT NOW HAS 1900.
