my daughter bought a 2016 Dodge Journey SXT new from the dealership. The following have been replaced: Head, Camshaft, four times position sensor A&B & the Radiator Fin Neck. That was $2000. that didn't fix all of the problems so it went to the Dealership. They swore to my daughter & husband that it was the Camshaft sensor failing, wiring harness failing, it had a break in a wire and 1 sensor had a high resistance and another sensor had NO resistance. They quoted us $1750. and that it would fix the problem. Now after 3 weeks they say that wasn't the problem and that it was going to cost another couple of thousands of dollars. There was a important safety recall for 2016 Dodge Journeys on the crankshaft sensor &/or camshaft electrical connector terminal, which says it could cause a crash from the engine stalling while driving. They say it was certain Dodge Journey, Jeep Compass & Jeep Patriot. Vehicles manufactured May 9, 2016 to July 15, 2016 that was a Manufacturer Recall S89(Also, NHTSA safety recall # 16V907000 crankshaft or camshaft sensor, causing engine to stall) I've seen other people with the same problem. Not to mention the dealership is now saying there's a part they need and have no way of getting. WOW so we owe them almost 2K and they really don't know what the problem is. My daughter is a single mother of 2 and can't not have a car. She still makes payments on the Journey the dealership has. How can a business cover one vehicle for the same issue another is having??? That's total crap!! Either fix it under the recall for free or get her out of the vehicle without going upside down... Why should someone have to argue when you know that this problem exists??? It's hard enough these days & dealerships don't care they just want to blame you for the problem and continue to rack up for fixing something that should be covered, & that you cant get a part that the car needs? That one still stumps me, how can you not get a part for your own product?
Passenger side head rest popped out while driving. When it popped there was also a loud noise.
Head on Collison with light pole high speed the no airbags deployed. Vehicle was towed to tow yard is awaiting insurance to estimate damages.
The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Journey. The contact stated while driving at 55 MPH, the ABS warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the brake pads needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the brake pads were replaced. The contact also stated that the cruise control system failed to operate as designed, and the driver’s side window failed to open as needed. The contact stated that the Navigation System was inoperable and there were also several unknown warning lights illuminated upon starting the vehicle. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

My car lost power at all due to transmission failure
The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Journey. The contact stated they while driving 36 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact waited for ten minutes before restarting the vehicle and continue driving however, the failure recurred. The contact had the vehicle towed to the residence. The contact had an independent mechanic inspect the vehicle at the residence. The contact was informed that the crankshaft sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,500.
Headrest randomly deployed. No accidents nor apparent reason.
Throttle computer system. Vehicle would shut down while driving. Skid control turned off. No acceleration or wheel control.
My car has many electrical problems, the power steering and today the engine burned out, I almost killed myself because the brakes did not respond to me

As I was driving 80 miles hour on interstate, I begin to hear a whining noise and pulled into rest area (thankfully). As I pull in, the car stops moving and will not go anywhere...not reverse or drive. At this time Engine light comes on. No early warning signs. After waiting 7 hours on Chryslers Road Side Assistance to send a tow, it was towed to a Dodge dealership and found that the transmission pump has failed and sent metal shaving through the transmission. My car is the same make and model and manufacture date (9/2015) that the S44 recall covered (NHTSA Campaign ID Number 16V461000), however my specific VIN number is not included. Dodge area manager was contacted and refused to add it to the recall. Mileage is 82000 and I just drove the car off the used lot 1 1/2 months ago. This should be added to the recall and all Dodges of that make, model and year should be checked for potential failure and if it occurs, compensated for repairs. I had just driving through a large city with 5 lanes of traffic at a high rate of speed, and if it had stopped just a few moments before, we would have in a major, life threating accident.
Driving home from work (about 10:45p on 7/22/2021), when, without warning, the ETC (electronic throttle control) and the Trac light came on. This led to an immediate lose of power with no ability to accelerate. This happened 7 times from Sterling Boulevard to Loudoun County Parkway exit on Rt 7. At one point, I was almost rear-end after loosing power. This happened to me once before on 7/18/2021 at 11:30p, again I was driving home from work. I called the dealership on 7/22, because I was out of town from 719-7/21, in the morning to see if they could repair the issue. They could not get me in until July 28th. They assured me it was safe to drive. If it happened again, I was instructed to stop and reset the vehicle, which was done every time I lost power on 7/22, but they assured me the vehicle was safe to drive to a job I had Salisbury, Maryland on Saturday (3 hrs away). I ended up canceling the job. My concern is that upon researching the internet, there seemed to be too many of the same stories. This issue seems to be affecting Journeys and Chargers based on my research. If I was on an Interstate with a semi behind me, there is no way that driver could have braked in time.
The crankshaft sensor failed and vehicle stopped in the middle of the road. Very unsafe, no warning or anything
I was traveling on the highway when the vehicle suddenly, without warning, stalled and stopped running. I was able to cruise until the vehicle completely stopped. I was able to restart the engine by pushing the "start" button to off and then pushing my brake and the engine restarted successfully where I can drive to the shoulder off the road. Engine light turned on. I have a OBD scanner tool and the code that the tool read is P0335 Crankshaft Position sensor malfunction. Circuit A. I have about 52,000 miles on my odometer. This is a huge safety issue. At high speed, if the car stalls, this could lead to a significant accident. There was no warning prior to the engine stalling. I have a service appointment at Marino CJD next week. Marino CJD is located at 5133 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60641.
The transmission quit pulling. Other 2016 dodge journey had same problem and we're recalled but mine wasn't included in this recall. Really horrible to place all this money in a newer vehicle and have these expensive problems that are a problem from factory. Very dangerous to just stop moving in mid drive.
While driving my 2016 Journey in Raleigh, N.C. the vehicle was working fine until I came to a stop sign and it stalled. I was able to start it up and luckily no vehicle was behind me the first time it occurred. In Raleigh it did this again at a red light but because the vehicle behind me was still at a stop and I was aware from the time before I quickly restarted and drove with little fanfare. The Journey would drive fine, but when stopping at a sign or light or stopping in general the vehicle will stall. It buckle and then stalls as well. I was able to get home from Raleigh to Raeford NC because of driving on the highway. However, upon arriving in local roads in Raeford and having to stop at the lights, the Journey stalled at every light. I was able to start it up and drive a few times, and a few other times it would stall on first, or second try then work on next. It once stalled and took multiple times (more than 3) restarting before I was able to get it driving. At home I was able to get the vehicle safely into the driveway and upon starting it while in park it would idle normally and not shut off. I then put it in reverse to back up and it immediately started to buckle and then stalled. Put in in park and start the engine again and it would idle, went to drive and it stalled again. Restarted it in park and went to neutral and it would idle, but try to go to drive or reverse and it would start to buckle as if to shut off. Back in neutral or park and again it idles. It will role in neutral if I release the brakes too. Put it in drive or reverse and it stalls and shut off. Now I am unable to even get it out of my driveway. So I will have it towed to the dealership.

The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer and it was confirmed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the Vin was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 46,600.
Transmission had gone out at 102,368 miles. First service on the transmission is at 120,000 miles. Paid for the transmission out of pocket. It went out again 2 weeks later. Put in a 3rd transmission and it lasted several months and went out again. This will be the 4th transmission. There was a recall but I didn’t fall in the parameters but it’s the same issues as the recall, same year make and model. There no reason why it should be a recall. That’s 3 replacement transmission in under a year. All transmission were bought from Victorville motors. A dodge Chrysler car dealer.

WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 40 AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE THE CAR SEEMS LIKE IT WILL STALL AND HAS A HARD TIME SHIFTING TO ANOTHER GEAR. THIS HAPPENS ON HIGHWAY AND ON CITY STREETS.

THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V461000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
2016 DODGE JOURNEY ISSUE WITH TRANSMISSION CLUNKING BETWEEN SECOND AND THIRD GEAR ALSO WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE GEAR SHIFT WILL MOVE TO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN. REFERENCE RECALL S44 CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR.TRANSMISSION TO NEUTRAL, HAVE ISSUE WITH FLUID PRESSURE. ALSO CAR WHEN PLACED INTO REVERSE WILL NOT ALWAYS ENGAGE GEAR. CALLED AN TOLD TRANSMISSION DG2 MANUFACTURED 08/12/2015 TO 04/15/2016 RECALLED CAR MANUFACTURERS DATE 09/18/2015 HAS 62E TRANSMISSION ARE FAULTY COMPANY REFUSES TO HONOR OR RECALL. MECHANIC SAID MAY BE FAULTY HYDRAULIC PUMP COULD CAUSE A SEVERE ACCIDENT. CHECKED NHTSA CAMPAIGN 16V471000 FOR POWER TRAIN ISSUE.
DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT AT A LOW SPEED, NO BREAKING AND 2 SENSORS CAME ON. ANTI-LOCK BRAKE AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. NO REASON FOR THEM TO ENGAGE AND HAVE NOT TURNED OFF.
IT JUST DIES AND SEVERAL TIMES IT HAD TROUBLE RESTARTING. THIS HAPPENED OVER THE WEEKEND AND THEN SEVERAL DAYS LATER IT DID IT AGAIN 3 TIMES IN A ROW.

THE CONTACT STATED SHE HAD EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST CAME APART WHILE DRIVING. IT WAS PRETTY FORCEFUL THE PLASTIC PORTION SEPERATED FROM THE REST OF HEAD REST.
WENT TO START CAR CAR STARTED MAKING CRANKING NOISES AFTER CAR STARTED WAS DRIVING DOWN STREET GOING ABOUT 40MPH ENGINE SHUT OFF AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP TOOK IT TO GET DIONASTIC FOUND OUT IT WAS. A CRANKSHAFT SENSOR THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS PART BUT NOT UNDER THE MONTH MY CAR WASANAFACTURED
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN IT SUDDENLY STOPPED. IT LOST ALL ELECTRIC POWER, NO EMERGENCY LIGHTS, CAN NOT SHIFT TO NEUTRAL, NO BRAKES, NO LIGHTS, CAN NOT UNLOCK DOORS, AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOT DETECT THE KEY FOB. THIS HAPPEN WHILE TRAVELING ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD. DODGE DOES HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE AND I WAS DIRECTED TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR TROUBLESHOOTING AND REPAIR.
FOR NO REASON WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE DRIVER SIDE HEADREST POPPED OUT AND NOW THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT IS ON.
OUT OF FUEL VEHICLE ENDED UP IN TRAFFIC WITH CARS ZIPPING BY. POLICE WERE CALLED BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION COULD NOT BE PLACED IN NEUTRAL TO PUSH VEHICLE OUT OF TRAFFIC. HAD POLICE NOT ASSISTED IT WOULD RESULT IN BEING REAR ENDED WITH CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. THE POLICE NOR THE TOW TRUCK KNEW HOW TO PLACE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL. 3 MONTHS LATER THE BATTERY DIED AND VEHICLE COULD NOT BE PLACED IN NEUTRAL TO ALLOW JUMP START. LUCKY THIS DID NOT HAPPEN IN TRAFFIC OR CHILDREN WOULD BE AT RISK AGAIN . THIS COULD ALSO HAVE BEEN AVOIDED EXCEPT THAT THERE IS NO IDIOT LIGHT ON DASH TO WARN OF BATTERY CONDITION.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
TRANSMISSION IS NOW SLIPPING
DRIVING THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY, IT STARTED TO SLOW DOWN; THE VEHICLE STOPPED AND DID NOT MOVE. MY CHILDREN AND I SCARED BUT THANK GOD HELP CAME. THE LIGHTS ON THE CAR TURNED ON, INDICATING SOMETHING WAS WRONG.I COULDN'T READ THE SIGN OR UNDERSTAND WHAT WENT WRONG. THE CAR WILL NOT STAY ON. IT SHUT OFF, AND THE CODE INDICATED THE CYLINDER IS NOT WORKING. I REPORTED IT AND TOWED THE DODGE DEALERSHIP VEHICLE BECAUSE THE REPRESENTATIVE SAID IT WOULD BE COVERED BECAUSE IT'S A RECALL. MY CAR IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP. MORE THAN TWO MONTHS AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME WHY THE CAR WON'T WORK.

EITHER SITTING OR DRIVING, THE CARS LIGHTS COME ON AND IT LOSES POWER AND STOPS. SOMETIMES WHEN I TRY TO START IT, IT WON'T START AND I JUST GOT A NEW BATTERY! I I SAT DOWN IN THE PASSENGERS SEAT AND ADJUSTED THE SEAT BACK. WHEN I LEANED BACK THE HEAD SNAPPED OUT WITH A DEGREE OF FORCE AND HIT ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD. IT APPEARS TO BE BROKEN AS IT WILL NOT GO BACK IN TO PLACE AND REMAIN THERE. THE CAR WAS IN PARK AT THE TIME AND WAS NOT HIT OR BUMPED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE.
I HAVE HAD THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR REPLACED TWO TIMES NOW. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE AS THE CAR BECOMES DISABLED WHILE DRIVING.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 146,000.
PASSENGER SIDE HEAD RESTRAIN IS DEPLOYED/BROKEN. CAME OUT TO CAR IN MORNING AND HEAD RESTRAIN WAS SPLIT OPEN. APPEARS TO BE BROKEN TABS AND CANNOT BE REASSEMBLED. NOW HAVE A BROKEN HEAD RESTRAIN ON PASSENGER SEAT. SEEMS UNSAFE. NOT MOVING, NOT NOT OCCUPIED.
WHILE MY CAR WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVE WAY AT MY HOUSE, THE PASSENGER SIDE HEAD REST RESTRAINT DEPLOYED WHEN NO ONE WAS IN THE VEHICLE. PARKED THE VEHICLE MONDAY (11/23/2020) AT 6:00 PM CST. WENT TO DRIVE THE CAR ON TUESDAY (11/24/2020) AT 11:30 CST AND THE HEAD REST RESTRAINT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SEAT HAD DEPLOYED. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF THE VEHICLE BEING STRUCK WHILE PARKED.
WHEN DRIVING DOWN HILL ON THE FREEWAY ( 65 MPH OR FASTER) AND BRAKING TO SLOW THE CAR, A HEAVY VIBRATION AND WOBBLING OCCURS ON THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE ( TIRE, SUSPENSION). ALSO OCCURS WHEN CAR IS WASHED AND THE WHEEL IS WET. APPLYING BREAKS MAKES IT WOBBLE GOING AT A SLOWER SPEED, 25/35MPH
WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT VEHICLE STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS AFTER LIGHT TURNED GREEN. VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE AND WAS SOMEHOW NOT IN GEAR. HAD TO PLACE IN PARK THEN BACK TO DRIVE SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT FINALLY GOT IN GEAR. IT DID THIS SEVERAL TIMES THROUGHOUT THE DAY SO HAD TO GET CAR TOWED. TOOK CAR TO DEALERS AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. SUGGESTED WE REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION FOR ALMOST $5,000. THE CAR ONLY HAS 68,000 APPROXIMATELY. CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2016. I REVERSED INTO THE PARKING SPOT, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, AND WE EXITED THE CAR. I HEARD A THUMP WHEN WE CLOSED THE DOORS. WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED, THE HEADREST HAD SPRANG FORWARD.

ADDITIONALLY, WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE SEVERAL LIGHTS LOCATED ON THE REAR LIFTGATE WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE OR WAS VERY DIM DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE TAIL GATE WIRING HARNESS. THE BRAKE LIGHTS, TAG LIGHTS AND SIGNAL LIGHTS WERE AFFECTED BY THE ELECTRICAL SHORT. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES BUT, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
MY CAR STARTED WHINING BAD AND LOSS POWER IT WAS STUCK IN ONE GEAR. WHEN DRIVING, AT ANY SPEED OR UPON ACCELERATION, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY LOSES POWER AND GOES TO 1500RPM(APPROX.) WITH A TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND BATTERY CHARGING LIGHT ( CAR SWERVING LIGHT AND RED LIGHTNING BOLT LIGHT) ILLUMINATED. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THIS IS VERY HAZARDOUS, ON THE STREET ITS VERY FRUSTRATING. WHEN VEHICLE IS BROUGHT TO A STOP AND COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN, THEREBY RESETTING THE ECM, THE VEHICLE STARTS NORMALLY AND DRIVES NORMALLY( SOMETIMES!) ON OTHER OCCASIONS AFTER BEING PUT INTO GEAR AND PROCEEDING THE SAME THING OCCURS AND ENGINE WILL NOT REV OVER 1500-1800 RPMS AND SO LONG AS YOU ARE NOT GOING UP A HILL WILL SHIFT NORMALLY TO GET TO ABOUT 40 MPH TOPS, ON A HILL HOWEVER SPEED WILL DROP TO ABOUT 15-20 DEPENDING ON THE HILL I GUESS. THIS HAPPENED ON 8-15-20 AND CAR RESET AND DROVE NORMALLY AFTER THAT WITH NO ISSUES BUT THE FOLLOWING MORNING AS I LEFT HOME FOR WORK IT OCCURRED 2 BLOCKS AWAY FROM HOME AND AFTER RESETTING CAR VIA SHUTTING IT DOWN SEVERAL TIMES THE ISSUE WOULD NOT "SELF CURE". I CUT THE CAR OFF AND CALLED MY HUSBAND AND HE SAID AFTER 10 TO TRY AND START IT BACK UP AND IT DID IT CRUNK BACK UP AND I DROVE SLOWLY HOME WITH HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND WHEN I GOT HOME AND CUT THE CAR OFF I LET IT SIT FOR 10 MINUTES AGAIN AND WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS OFF. HAD ABOUT 20,000 MI ON THE ODOMETER AND BRAKES START TO PULSATE VERY BAD, CAUSING LOTS OF VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL. HAD DEALER CHECK BRAKES AND SHOWED LITTLE SIGNS OF WEAR ON THE PADS. THIS CONTINUED TILL I FINALLY HAD THE BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED WITH AFTERMARKET VENTILATED ROTORS AND NEW BRAKE PADS. AFTER ONLY 200 MILES, VEHICLE IS AGAIN VIBRATING VERY BAD ON HARD BRAKING AND STEEP INCLINES. GOING TO HAVE DEALER CHECK THE CALIBERS ON THE FRONT TO SEE IF ONE IS STICKING, WHERE BRAKES WERE CHANGED. NEVER HAD THIS OCCUR IN ANY OTHER VEHICLE WHERE THE PULSATING RETURNED AFTER REPLACING BRAKES AND ROTORS.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND REMOTE STARTED FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. WE LOADED UP OUR CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND STARTED SMELLING A STRONG PLASTIC/RUBBER BURNING SMELL THAT STINGS IN THE THROAT. THE SMELL WAS COMING OUT OF THE HEAT VENTS, COULD BE SMELLED OUTSIDE THE CAR AND UNDER THE HOOD. WE SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND I LOOKED FOR THE SOURCE OF THE BURNING, BUT DIDN'T IMMEDIATELY FIND IT. AFTER SOME TIME WE RESTARTED AND WAITED ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND IT CAME BACK AGAIN. THIS TIME I LOCATED A GLOWING RED CHASSIS GROUND STRAP WIRE THAT WAS BURNING OFF THE COATING. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO MY HOUSE FOR INSPECTION DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS. I NOTICED THAT THE METHOD OF ATTACHMENT OF THE SHEET METAL CLIP TO THE MOTOR MOUNT SEEMS DUBIOUS AS THIS TYPE OF CONNECTION MAY CAUSE HIGH ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE AND LEAD TO HEAT BUILD-UP. FORTUNATELY THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND WE WERE WAITING ON WARM-UP. HAD MY WIFE JUST DRIVEN OFF THE SMOKE SMELL WOULD HAVE BEEN A DISTRACTION AND COULD LEAD TO INCREASED CRASH RISK. ALSO WHEN THE WIRE FINALLY BURNED AND DISCONNECTED THE CIRCUIT, THE VEHICLE COULD HAVE STALLED IN AN VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND LEAD TO A CRASH. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND THERE WAS A STRANGE SMELL AS IF GAS FILLED THE CAR UP AND I GOT OUT AND MY HEAD WAS HURTING FROM THE SMELL AND I GOT NAUSEOUS AND THREW UP. WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT I ALMOST PASSED OUT. ALSO MY VOLUME GOES UP AND DOWN BY ITSELF AND THE A/C TURNS ON AND OFF.

I TOOK IT BACK TO WHERE I GOT IT FROM AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER ABS SENSOR THAT WENT BAD. THEY FIXED IT AND IT WAS FINE. HERE WE ARE 3 MONTHS LATER AND THE ISSUE IS HAPPENING AGAIN.

THE ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING.. NO WARNING, NO LIGHTS JUST OFF. LOSS POWER STEERING, LIGHTS, ALL POWER. LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO GLIDE OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO PUT CAR IN PARK AND HIT ENGINE ON BUTTON AND IT STARTED UP AS NORMAL.
BEEN HAVING SERIOUS INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH MY BRAKES. MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND ABS LIGHTS WOULD COME ON SIMULTANEOUSLY AND THEN BRAKES START TO MAKE A GRINDING NOISE AS WELL AS PEDAL STARTS TO SHAKE. BROUGHT IT INTO DEALERSHIP ON 10/6/19 AS IT WAS THROWING A CODE FOR A WHEEL SPEED SENSOR. HAD THEM REPLACE THAT ALONG WITH A FULL BRAKE SYSTEM CHECK ONLY FOR IT TO START HAVING SAME ISSUES 2 WEEKS LATER. I'VE READ ONLINE OF MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE ONLY FOR DODGE TO SLAP A BANDAID ON IT. I HAVE 3 KIDS AND DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THEM ANYWHERE AS IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN.

VEHICLE SIMPLY TURNED OFF ON ITS OWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I HAD JUST BEGAN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT AND IN THE MIDST OF A TURN WHEN THE VEHICLE FAILED. AFTER STOPPING THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I WAS STUCK AT A LARGE INTERSECTION FOR A FEW MINUTES AS TRYING TO TURN THE VEHICLE BACK ON RESULTED IN IT JUST KIND OF JERKING/STUTTERING INITIALLY. EVENTUALLY I WAS ABLE TO TURN IT BACK ON AND DRIVE A BIT DOWN THE ROAD WHEN IT TURNED OFF AGAIN BUT AT LEAST I MADE IT TO A BUSINESS' PARKING LOT. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND AN ISSUE. NO ERROR CODES AND WOULD NOT CUT OFF ON THEM AS IT DID ME. I STILL HAD THEM REPLACE THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR AS THE TECHNICIAN SAID THAT IS USUALLY THE ISSUE WHEN A CAR CUTS OFF DURING DRIVING.

WHEEL SPEED SENSOR GIVING A FAULT CODE WAS REPLACED BUT STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. HOOKED UP SNAP-ON SCANNER AND FOUND COMMUNICATION ISSUES FROM ABS TO TCM TO ECU SO A DATA LINE MOST LIKELY A CULPRIT. VEHICLE HAS 75K MILES. ATTACHED IS A SCAN REPORT OF THE CODES FOUND ON VEHICLE. THIS SEEMS TO BE COMMON ON MANY OF THE SAME VEHICLES. WILL REPORT FINDINGS ONCE CUSTOMER AGREES TO FURTHER INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE. I'M THINKING A FAULTY ABS MODULE OR WIRING TO ABS AND FAULTING OUT THE DATA COMMUNICATION LINE CAUSING DATA LOSS BETWEEN OTHER MODULES IN THE SYSTEM.

WE TOWED THE CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC ON 09/17/2019 WHO STATED THAT THE POWER TRAIN TRANSMISSION HAS COMPLETELY FAILED, AND WE NEED TO COMPLETELY REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 64K MILES. WE HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR JUST 2 YEARS WITH NO PRIOR PRIVATE OWNERS. WE HAVE AN APPOINTMENT ON 09/19/2019 WITH PAULDING CHYRSLER JEEP DODGE LOCATED IN DALLAS, GA FOR A SECOND OPINION. I HAVE LEARNED THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR POWER TRAIN TRANSMISSIONS ON 2016 DODGE JOURNEY. GIVEN THE AVERAGE LIFE EXPECTANCY OF AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND OUR VEHICLE'S SPECIFICATIONS, IT SEEMS EVIDENT THAT THIS ISSUE CORRESPONDS WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S RECALL.

WE TOWED IT TO OUR DODGE DEALERSHIP AND HAD IT DIAGNOSED. WAS TOLD THAT OUR HYDRAULIC PUMP FAILED CAUSING IRREPARABLE DAMAGE TO OUR TRANSMISSION. WE WERE TOLD WE NEEDED TO REPLACE OUR ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. WE HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 2 YEARS AND THERE IS ONLY 65000 MILES ON IT. TRANSMISSIONS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO FAIL AFTER JUST 3 YEARS. SEEMS TO BE A RECURRENT ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR. WE STILL OWE A LOT OF MONEY ON THE CAR SO WE CANNOT SCRAP OR TRADE IT. WE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE ON 4/19/19 AND IT DIED AGAIN ON 4/22/19. THIS TIME, THE CAR WAS STATIONARY, BUT HAD I BE TOWED AGAIN. THIS TIME, THEY REPLACED THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR. WE FOUND A RECALL ISSUED BY NHTSA - RECALL S89/NHTSA 16V-907 COVERING 2016 JOURNEYS FOR THE ENGINE BUILT FROM MAY 8,2016 TO JULY 12, 2016. THE BUILD DATE ON THE JOURNEY WE BOUGHT WAS 8/13/2015 AND IN SERVICE DATE OF 1/15/2016. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY DENIED ANY RECALL INITIALLY ( SAME AS THE DEALERSHIP ) BUT THEN SAID THE BUILD DATE WAS SET OUTSIDE OF THE TIME FRAME SET BY NHTSA. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL PART, REPLACED. IN MY POSSESSION. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE BEARINGS WERE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE DEALER WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CRASH. SO IN ORDER TO STOP THE REAR WIPER FROM MOVING WHILE IN REVERSE, I HAVE TO LEAVE THE SWITCH ON THE ON POSITION, MY REAR WIPER ALSO MOVES WHEN I UNLOCK MY CAR.. FOLLOWING THAT MY REVERSE LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON. THEN MY LEFT TAIL GATE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON WHEN LIGHTS ARE TURNED ON BUT IT DOES COME ON WHEN I UNLOCKED THE CAR. WHEN I OPEN THE REAR HATCH DOOR NONE OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TURN ON. SO I AM FORCED TO OPEN ANOTHER DOOR IF I WANT THE LIGHTS TO TURN ON. I STOPPED AT A DRIVE THROUGH PHARMACY WINDOW AND IT WOULD NOT ROLL DOWN. IT WORKED YESTERDAY AND WILL NOT TODAY. NOTHING TRAUMATIC (SPILLS, ETC.) HAPPENED BETWEEN NOW AND THEN.
5-10-18 HAD TO BRING MY VEHICLE IN FOR A NEW TIRE AND PRIOR TO THE TIRE, THE ABS LIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY POP ON AND OFF. THIS WOULD HAPPEN MOSTLY AFTER I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND AFTER BACKING UP AND TRAVELING A FEW FEET, IT WOULD SOUND AND FEEL LIKE IT WOULD CATCH AND GRIND, THEN RELEASE AFTER TRAVELING ABOUT A MILE, IT WOULD GO OFF. WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN TO GET THE TIRE REPLACED, I ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT IT, THEY SAID THE ABS LIGHT WAS COMING ON BECAUSE THE BATTERY WAS FAULTY AND THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY. (I THINK MAYBE THEY JUST RESET SOMETHING) I ASKED THEM TO GIVE ME AN ITEMIZED LIST OF PARTS CHANGED FOR THE WORK, AND I NEVER RECEIVED IT. I ONLY RECEIVED THE INVOICE FOR THE TIRE. NOW.... REAR ENDED IN DEC 27, 2018 - BETWEEN THE ACCIDENT AND TIME IT TOOK HOLIDAYS/INSURANCE TO GET ME AN APPOINTMENT WITH DEALER, THE ABS LIGHT STARTED TO POP ON AGAIN AND THE RADIO SCREEN GRAYED OUT AND CAME BACK ON(SO FAR THAT HAS ONLY HAPPENED ONCE). MY HUSBAND LET THEM KNOW TO CHECK THAT AS WELL BECAUSE THERE WAS IMPACT DAMAGE ON THE LEFT FRONT BUMPER AND DEALER ONLY REPAIRED THE DAMAGES REPORTED BY ADJUSTER AND DIDN'T ADDRESS THE ABS/RADIO ISSUE. WHEN I PUT AIR INTO THE TIRES ALL OF THE TIRES PRESSURE PSI ARE THE SAME THEN WITHIN FIVE MINUTES ALL THE TIRE PSI ARE DIFFERENT BY SUBSTANTIAL DIGITS. ONE TIRE COULD BE 39 WHEN YOU BEGIN AND FIVE MINUTES LATER IT COULD DISPLAY 34 PSI. THE VEHICLE IS ALWAYS IMBALANCED CAUSING IT TO ROCK.
BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY IN REVERSE AND THE TRANSFER CASE TWISTED OUT OF THE VEHICLE, SNAPPING HARDWARE AND BREAKING OFF ALUMINUM CASING ALSO FOUND LOSE HARDWARE. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 65,000 MILES ON IT. THIS OCCURRED ON LEVEL GRADE THERE WAS NO INCLINES

I HAVE HEARD FROM A FRIEND OF MINE THAT IS A MECHANIC THAT HE HAD A FEELING IT WAS MY ABS SENSOR BUT DIDNT HAVE ACCESS TO A DODGE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM AS HE WORKS FOR A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP. IVE HEARD FROM DIFFERENT PEOPLE THAT THIS HAS BEEN A "COMMON" PROBLEM RECENTLY WITH JOURNEYS. I PAID 97 DOLLARS FOR A DIAGNOSTIC FORMA NON-DEALER GARAGE AND THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS MY RIGHT FRONT ABS SENSOR AND IT WAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. I CALLED THE DODGE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS NOT INFORMED WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN THERE FOR THE RECALL THAT IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. I BROUGHT MY SUV IN AND THE ADVISOR DIDN'T BELIEVE IT WAS MY SENSOR UNTIL IT WAS REPLACED. I HAVE A 2016 DODGE JOURNEY ABOUT A MONTH AGO RAN OVER A LARGE RAIN PUDDLE WHILE TURNING IN TO GET SOME GAS. FILLED UP AND AS I'M DRIVING OFF ABS, BRAKE, AND THE SWERVING CAR SIGNAL KEPT COMING ON. I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD NEEDED A NEW FUEL PUMP AND THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE ME 135 PER ERROR CODE AND THEN WOULD TELL ME WHAT ADDITIONALLY NEEDED TO BE FIXED AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE THE CAR FOR UP TO A WEEK. THE CAR WAS JUST PURCHASED IN AUG 2018 AND IT HAS UNDER 54K MILES ON IT. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AT ANY GIVEN TIME ALL THE LIGHTS CONTINUE TO COME ON. THE CAR STOPPED ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. DURING RUSH HOUR, I WAS ON THE WAY TO PICK UP MY DAUGHTER FROM DAY CARE. AS I SLOWED DOWN INTO THE TURNING/MERGE LANE AT AN INTERSECTION, MY CAR JUST TURNED OFF WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. I CAME TO A STOP AND ATTEMPTED A RESTART, BUT IT WOULD NOT ALLOW A RESTART UNTIL THE 6TH TRY. MY HAZARD LIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN ON, SO I HAD TO WAVE ANGRY DRIVERS TO GO AROUND ME. WHILE DRIVING/TURNING MY CAR SEEMS TO HALT AND MAKE A GRUNTING/RUBBING NOISE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES WHO SAYS THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THEY HAVE HAD ME REPLACE MY BRAKES PADS AND ROTORS TWICE IN THE LAST 10 MONTHS. SOMETHING IS WRONG AND I BELIEVE THAT WHATEVER THE PROBLEM IS CONTINUES TO DAMAGE MY BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS.

ON JULY 22, 2017, I TRIED TO START MY CAR AND IT WOULDN'T START. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK COMPANY AND THEY TRIED TO CHARGE THE VEHICLE TO NO AVAIL. THEY TOWED THE VEHICLE TO KENDALL DODGE CHRYSLER AND JEEP. THE VEHICLE SAT AT THE DEALER FOR OVER 8 DAYS. WHEN I RECEIVED THE VEHICLE BACK IT STILL HAD ELECTRICAL ISSUE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK IN AND THEY REPAIRED THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES AGAIN. IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR THE WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITH MY FOUR KIDS IN THE CAR (2 OF WHICH ARE UNDER THE AGE OF 3) THE ANTILOCK BRAKE LIGHT TURNED ON AND THE CAR STOPPED ON ITS OWN. AFTER ACCELERATOR WAS TOUGH TO TOUCH. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THE CAR WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. I CALLED DODGE DIRECTLY AND THEY CALLED THE DEALER AND THE TOLD THEM TO REPAIR THE CAR. THE DEALER STILL GAVE ME A HARD TIME AND WOULD NOT GIVE ME A RENTAL CAR. THEY MADE ME CALL DODGE AGAIN AND HAVE THEM AUTHORIZE A RENTAL. THE CAR IS NOW GIVING ME ELECTRICAL ISSUES AGAIN ALONG WITH THE ANTILOCK BRAKE LIGHT TURNING ON SPORADICALLY AND WHEN I CALLED DODGE DIRECTLY THEY TOLD ME THEY ARE GOING TO SEND A TECH TO CHECK THE VEHICLE OUT. IF THEY CAN RECREATE THE PROBLEM THEN I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE PROBLEM TO HAPPEN AGAIN. I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THE ANTILOCK BRAKES TO LOCK UP AGAIN WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR. THE VEHICLE CLEARLY HAS A RECURRING ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT CAN NOT BE FIXED. THIS VEHICLE IS A DANGER TO ME AND MY FAMILY IT IS A TIME BOMB WAITING TO EXPLODE WITH THE ANTILOCK BRAKE LOCKING UP WHILE I'M DRIVING OR EVEN PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. I CONTACTED DODGE AND EXPRESSED MY ISSUES WITH THIS CAR BEING A LEMON AND THEY WANT ME TO CONTINUE TO TRY TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND CONTINUE TO ENDANGER MY LIFE AND MY KIDS LIFE.
THE REAR RIGHT SIDE PASSENGER WINDOW ISN'T WORKING. FOR A WHILE IT WAS ROLLING UP AND DOWN SLOWLY, AND SEEMED TO BE STICKING. AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS IT GOT WORSE, WE LOCKED THE WINDOWS AND WOULDN'T ALLOW THE KIDS TO ROLL DOWN THEIR WINDOWS. THERE WERE 3 TIMES WHERE WE THOUGHT THE WINDOW WASN'T GOING TO WORK AT ALL. WE WERE OUT OF STATE AND AFTER ROLLING THE WINDOW DOWN IT WOULDN'T GO UP. WE HAD TO PARK OUR CAR OVERNIGHT TWO TIMES AT OUR HOTEL WITH THE WINDOW DOWN BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T GO UP. JUST RECENTLY IT STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. MY SON ROLLED THE WINDOW DOWN AND HAD HIS UPPER TORSO (HEAD) LEANING OUT THE WINDOW. WE WEREN'T IN MOTION (PARKED) AND THE WAY HIS HAND WAS POSITIONED ON THE WINDOW BUTTON IT PUSHED IT UP, IT STARTED ROLLING UP AND WHEN HE NOTICED HE HAD GOT SQUISHED BETWEEN THE WINDOW ITSELF AND THE UPPER FRAME OF THE DOOR. HE REALIZED HIS HAND WAS PUSHING ON THE WINDOW BUTTON AND TOOK HIS HAND OFF AND TRIED TO ROLL IT BACK DOWN.... IT WOULDN'T BUDGE. HE STARTED YELLING FOR US AND WE WENT AND SHOVED THE WINDOW DOWN WITH OUR HANDS WHILE TRYING TO USE THE WINDOW BUTTON TO ROLL IT DOWN, IT MOVED VERY, VERY, SLOWLY. WE WERE ABLE TO GET IT ALL THE WAY DOWN AND NOW IT WONT GO BACK UP. ITS BEEN ROLLED ALL THE WAY DOWN FOR 4 DAYS NOW. SIGH.......... CURRENTLY LOOKING AT MECHANICS TO TRY AND FIX THE PROBLEM.

THE LAST ISSUE HAPPENED YESTERDAY AND WHENI WAS DRIVING MY CAR DECIDED TO DECELERATE FOR NO REASON. I WAS LUCK I WAS ON A FARM MARKET ROAD AND NOT A MAJOR HIGHWAY. I HAVE CHECKED FOR RECALLS ON MY VEHOCLE VIA VIN NUMBER. HOWEVER MY SPECIFIC VIN IS NOT LISTED, BUT I AM EXPERIENCING SOME OF THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECALLS. WE TOOK IT TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP, AND THE MECHANIC WHO TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE FREAKED OUT WHEN THE PROBLEM HAPPENED TO HIM WITH MY HUSBAND IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. HOWEVER, THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND REFUSE REPLACE ANY OF THE RECALLED PARTS FROM 2016 DODGE JOURNEY'S RELATING TO THE ENGINE STALLING OUT BECAUSE THEY INSIST MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED A COUPLES OF WEEKS BEFORE THE RECALL GOES INTO EFFECT. MY CONCERN IS FOR MY THREE TODDLERS WHO WERE SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT AND NEARLY GOT KILLED. THE TRUCK HAS ALWAYS SHIFTED HARD SINCE I PURCHASED IT JANUARY 2016 BUT I FIGURED IT WOULD JUST WORK ITS WAY OUT SINCE IT WAS BRAND NEW. FRIDAY JULY 21ST 2017 I WAS DRIVING AND STARTED HEARING A VERY LOUD GRINDING TYPE OF NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND I WAS JUST TRYING TO MAKE IT HOME ASAP. ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING (25 MPH) I WAS SLOWING DOWN AND WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND WENT TO ACCELERATE AGAIN THERE WAS NOTHING THERE LIKE NO POWER AT ALL JUST RPMS GOING HIGHER. I PULLED OVER PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND BACK INTO DRIVE AND IT WOULDN'T MOVE ANYWHERE AT ALL. CAR HAS 20K MILES, WHILE DRIVING THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON. DEALERSHIP DISCOVERED THAT, IN ADDITION TO THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL, THE AIRBAGS WERE NOT WORKING. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT WATER BOTTLES HAD ROLLED UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND BROKEN THE WIRES FOR THE AIRBAGS. THIS IS A 8 SEAT FAMILY VEHICLE AND CAN BE ASSUMED THAT CHILDREN WOULD BE IN THE BACK SEAT, THEREFORE SPILLS AND/OR TRASH ARE LIKELY TO ROLE UNDER THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SEATS, YET THE WIRES IN QUESTION OR THIN, FRAGILE, AND UNPROTECTED. FURTHERMORE, I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY WARNING LIGHTS THAT THE AIRBAGS WERE NOT FUNCTIONING AND HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG THE AIRBAGS HAVE NOT BEEN FUNCTIONING. DURING A GOOGLE SEARCH, I DISCOVERED THAT SEVERAL OLDER DODGE VEHICLES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR SIMILAR ISSUE, YET DODGE REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE DESIGN FLAW. THE WIRES UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT SUPPOSEDLY DO NOT AFFECT THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL, BUT I BELIEVE IT IS SUSPECT THAT THESE ISSUE OCCURRED AT THE SAME TIME (AND COMPLAINTS ON OTHER DODGE VEHICLES HAVE INDICATED THAT MOVEMENT OF THE SEATS DISLODGED THE WIRES AND TURNED OFF ABS AND AIRBAGS). THE DEALERSHIP WANTS 300 DOLLARS TO FIX THE WIRES, BUT OFFERS NO WAY OF PREVENTING THE PROBLEM FROM REOCCURRING. I HAVE ALSO FOUND THREE SAFETY RECALLS ON THIS MODEL THAT NEITHER DODGE OR THEIR SERVICES PROVIDERS HAVE NEVER INFORMED ME OF! I BELIEVE THIS MODEL NEEDS TO BE CLOSELY INSPECTED, AS IT ALREADY HAS THREE SAFETY RECALLS IN LESS THAN A YEAR (NOT INCLUDING THIS ISSUE). I DO NOT HAVE PICTURES, BUT THE DEALERSHIP DOES.

YOU MUST COME TO A STOP, PARK AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES NOW, TWICE TO MYSELF AND ONCE TO MY WIFE. TWO DEALERSHIPS HAVE FOUND NO ISSUE SO NOTHING CAN BE DONE. I HAD 2016 DODGE JOURNEY BOUGHT FROM SUPERSTITION DODGE IN MESA ARIZONA. THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF BY ITSELF WHILE BRAKING AND ONE TIME WHILE DRIVING. WHEN ENGINE SHUTS OFF THE CAR LOOSES POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THIS COULD CAUSE FETAL ACCIDENT AND MAY BE DEATH. I CONTACTED DODGE TEMPE ARIZONA. I WENT TO THEM AFTER IT HAPPEN FIRST TIME AND THEY SAID NO ERROR CODE AND IT COULD BE A GLITCH!! THEN WHEN IT HAPPEN FOR SECOND AND THIRD TIME AND I WAS ABOUT TO MAKE AN ACCIDENT, I CONTACTED THEM AGAIN AND CONTACTED DODGE COMPANY. THEY OPEN A CASE # 29588743. AND TEMPE DODGE TOOK AGAIN FOR OVER A WEEK AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND THE ROOT CAUSE. THEY WANT TO GIVE ME THE CAR BACK AND I AM AFRAID ABOUT MY FAMILY SAFETY AND PEOPLE AND CARS IN THE STREET. I CONTACTED DODGE AGAIN AND THE CASE MANAGER NAME IS [XXX] . SHE SAID THERE NOTHING SHE CAN DO AND SHE WANTS TO CLOSE THE CASE. THEY DO NOT CARE AND THEY WANT TO GIVE THE CAR BACK TO ME KNOWINGLY THAT THE CAR COULD HAVE AN ACCIDENT AGAIN IF THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF AND THE CAR FAIL TO BRAKE AND STEER. WHAT HAPPEN IS WHEN DRIVING, SOMETIMES "3 TIMES" WHEN BRAKE "2 TIMES" OR WHEN SLOWING WHILE RUNNING "1 TIME" THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF AND THE IGNITION BUTTON STILL SHOWS RUN AND AC IS STILL WORKING ON THE BATTERY. WHEN ENGINE SHUTS OFF NO BRAKES SO CAR KEEPS MOVING AND STEERING IS VERY HARD TO CONTROL BECAUSE OF LOSS OF POWER. IT IS LIFE THREATENING AND COULD CAUSE DEATH TO PEDESTRIANS AND OR PASSENGERS. WHILE DRIVING MY 2016 DODGE JOURNEY 12MPH, THE CAR JERKED TO THE LEFT CAUSING ME TO HIT A CEMENT LIGHT POLE. I WAS IN A ROUNDABOUT TURNING TO BRING MY CHILD TO SCHOOL WHEN THIS HAPPENED. NO INJURIES.
WE WERE DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AND THE BACK HATCH BACK OPENED EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE LOCKS WERE ENGAGED AND LOCKED SHUT. THE DOOR LOCKS WERE ENGAGED. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT, NO AUDIBLE ALARM-NOT A WARNING OF ANY KIND. AT THAT POINT, WE HAD NOT IDEA THE HATCH BACK WAS OPENED, AND BECAUSE WE WERE ON A SLIGHT INCLINE, A GOLF CLUB FELL OUT OF THE GOLF BAG AND LANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ONTERSECTION. WE REALIZED THE HATCH WAS OPENED AFTER WE PASSED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION ( SAQUARO AND SHEA IN FOUNTAIN HILLS , ARIZONA. MAJOR CONCERN AS THERE WAS NO WARNING OF THE INSTRUMENTATION OF ANY KIND, AND THIS WAS A RENTAL CAR. I BELIEVE IF WE HAD A FULL CARGO PAYLOAD, IT WOULD HAVE DISCHARGED FROM THE REAR CAUSING TRAFFIC IMPEDIMENT AND POSSIBLE CRASHES TO SAY NOTHING OF THE LOSS OF PROPERTY OR IF WE HAD A LIVE ANIMAL , THE LOSS OF THE ANIMAL.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.
