Water/condensation build-up in charge air cooler collects in tubing and discharges into intake when quickly accelerating from a stopped position or “punching it” to pass a slower vehicle in traffic. This causes my vehicle to go into limp mode and lose all power which can be extremely dangerous in high traffic conditions.
While driving, brake pedal suddenly went straight to the floor with no resistance and no braking. Took to Ford and found that brake master cylinder had failed catastrophically, just like F-series trucks which have been recalled. Vacuum booster was full of brake fluid and master cylinder empty. Incurred $1062.62 in repair costs and could have had deadly consequences if it hadn’t occurred in a parking lot at low speed. There were no warning indicators activated. Repair done by AutoNation Ford inTorrance, CA, and I have the parts in my possession. Insurance and law enforcement were not involved.
driving at constant speed the automobile has entered Limp Mode at which time power to the drive train is loss and it losses speed rapidly. This is the third time it has happened over a 4-5 month period.
Low brake fluid light comes on then brake pedal go's to the floor. Brake fluid level checks low. After refilling brake fluid it doe's the same thing. Find no sign of any brake fluid leak.
During normal dealer service interval, I was advised by car dealer that lug nuts were in need of replacement. As vehicle is less than 5 years old and has under 60k miles, I said that seemed abnormal. Service agent advised they “see it all the time.” As this seems like a safety issue, I inquired if there was a recall or service bulletin. Advised, there was none. Work was completed. I contacted Ford Motor Company and asked about issue and reimbursement. They told me it was a known issue and that no recall existed and therefore they would NOT reimburse. They told me their current position is that lug nuts are a “wear and tear item” like tires. I told them never in my life of driving (over 4 decades and in excess of million miles) have I ever been advised that lug nuts need replacing.
75k Miles, 2016 Expedition Known Throttle body issue. Engaging the "Limp Mode" Happened several times before we could get it into the dealership. Each time was at different speeds and conditions.(** Who by the way told us to just keep driving it until our dealership appointment arrived approx. 2 weeks later) Not thrilled about this issue. We purchased the vehicle as a family hauler and a road tripper. Do not like the idea of having my kids in the car and the potential of this happening in a dangerous area. Ford dealer replaced the unit 10/8/21 we will see if the replacement will be a permanent fix for the vehicle. It does seem like ford is dragging their feet on this and not issuing a recall.
Rear camera is intermittently non-operative. Only works approximately 20% of the time. Due to the size & shape of this vehicle, this makes backing up dangerous for persons and property that are difficult to see when backing.
I had a flat tire and needed to install the spare tire. I jacked the vehicle up and tried to take the wheel lug nuts off. The manufacturer supplied lug removal bar's head would not fit over the wheel lug nuts. Consequently, I was not able to remove the flat tire and install the spare tire. Saftey was compromised by having to drive on a damaged tire approximately 10 miles to a repair shop. Had I been out of town or on a highway the saftey issues would have been greatly magnified. The repair shop had difficulty removing the lug nuts. They had to use special half sized sockets and pound the sockets onto the lug nuts before they could be removed. The independent service center states that this issue is not unusual for Ford products with two piece lug nuts. This incident did not cause an accident, injury or vehicle damage. Nothing was reported to any authorities, excluding this incident report. Bottm line; in cases of road side tire failure, the damaged tire needs to able to be removed and the spare installed to facillitae safe transport to a repair facility.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 25 mph, the brake warning light illuminated, and the low brake fluid message was displayed on the instrument panel. Due to the failure, the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard while his wife was attempting to stop the vehicle. The driver called her husband to the scene who was able to carefully drive the vehicle back to their residence. Upon inspection, the contact discovered a leak from the brake master cylinder which had flowed into the brake booster which he believed caused the failure. The dealer was contacted about the failure and the contact was informed that the part to repair the vehicle was not available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
Wife driving 2016 Ford Exped with 61000 miles. Was driving on a remote road when the vehicle suddenly lost power and power train fault indicator came on. No cell service and no other traffic so no way to get help. Finally managed to restart which cleared the problem for now. Took the car to a Ford dealer immediately but code reader could find no fault. Dealer, however, said it is a throttle body malfunction and is not uncommon and will happen again. Now concerned about problem occurring on a freeway or other congested roadway. The sudden loss of power and resulting necessity to get off a busy roadway/highway creates a real safety issue.
On June 30, 2021, while driving in a parking lot, "low brake fluid" warning lite came on then brake pedal went to floor. Brake fluid was added at scene but problem repeated it self. Car was towed to shop and diagnosed as master cylinder failure with brake fluid in booster. The parts were replaced and problem was solved. There is approx. 51000 miles on vehicle. Fortunately, this occurred at low speed in a church parking lot. I can't imagine what would have happened on the hiway at speed! Defective parts are available for inspection.
Backup camera is distorted/intermittent
Low brake fluid light came on. I pulled off road to think, but since it said "low" brake fluid and not "empty" brake fluid, and since I was already on my way to the dealer for an oil change, I decided to proceed. When ready to go again, brake pedal went all of the way to the floor. Mechanic says the brake fluid is leaking into the power booster. His research found same problem with 2016 F150's that used the same part but was recalled, but Expedition's were not recalled. Required tow truck to take to Ford dealer 1-1/2 hrs from my home. Should have already been a recall or a warning that something could happen since Ford has already experienced this with the F150's.
Brake fluid level light came on. Stopped at Autozone, added fluid, drove 2 miles to Walmart brakes get soft, barely got home and reservoir was empty again. No visible leaks on the ground. Vehicle only has 60K miles on it and this could have been catastrophic and deadly if we needed to stop quickly. Research shows that the NHTSA issued a recall for this problem on the 2016 F150. The Expedition is essentially the same vehicle chassis, with a different body. The chassis components are the same. Reason and logic therefore would conclude that the recall be extended the the Expedition , as well as any other shared chassis vehicles.
6 months ago, electronic power steering failed (Control module?). Today. Electric throttle body - Code P2111. Driving down the road and lost acceleration (the “limp” condition). Engine is running but no reaction to the gas pedal. Wrench symbol on the dash. I coasted to a spot where I could get out of traffic. Restarted the vehicle and the error went away. When I made it home, I removed the throttle body. Butterfly was a little dirty but much cleaner than the ones shown on YouTube. Opened the gear box and it was clean too. However, several teeth on the plastic gears were worn and/or disfigured. It also seemed like the little electric motor would not let the butterfly shut all the way.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and depressing the brake pedal, the braking system malfunctioned and the brake pedal extended to the floor. Upon inspection, it was discovered that there was no brake fluid in the brake reservoir. After refilling the brake fluid reservoir, approximately 30 minutes later the brake fluid had leaked from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the brake master cylinder and brake booster were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.
I WAS ACCELERATING, TURNING LEFT TO ENTER A FREEWAY ON RAMP. MY SPEED WAS REDUCED TO 1MPH AND I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE OR CONTROL THE CAR. WHEN I PUSHED ON THE ACCELERATOR NOTHING HAPPENED IT DID NOT REV THE ENGINE. A POP UP APPEARED WITH A WRENCH AND THE WORDS "SEE OWNERS MANUAL" I WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON. THIS ALLOWED ME TO REGAIN FUNCTION. THIS HAPPENED WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ENGINE CODES. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHERE CARS WERE BOTH ENTERING AND EXITING THE FREEWAY. FORTUNATELY I AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT HAD THIS HAPPENED AFTER I GOT ON THE FREEWAY I MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN SO LUCKY! UPON RETURNING HOME I CHECKED THE OWNERS MANUAL AND THERE IS NOTHING ABOUT A WRENCH LIGHT IN THERE.
THE VEHICLE DASHBOARD STARED SHOWING THE WARNING STERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED. THE STERING IS DISABLED AND IT BECOMES VERY HARD OR IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE. ISSUE STARTED HAPPENING AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING.

THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO COURTESY FORD (6393 HIGHWAY 98 WEST, HATTIESBURG, MS 39402) WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A DEFECTIVE LEAD FRAME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING, PARTIAL BRAKE FAILURE, SIMILAR TO BRAKE ISSUE WITH F150 FOR WHICH RECALL WAS ISSUED--SAME PARTS USED IN EXPEDITION. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN WARNING FIRST APPEARED. I REFILLED FLUED RESERVOIR. DROVE VEHICLE ABOUT 2 MILES THEN PARKED. RESTARTED AND RESERVOIR HAD EMPTIED, WARNING SIGN APPEARED, NO FLUID LEAKAGE VISIBLE UNDER HOOD OR ON GROUND.
I WAS DRIVING ON A SMALL HIGHWAY (2 TIMES) AND A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET (1 TIME) GOING 25 MPH (45 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY) OR MORE WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. MY CAR SEEMED TO SHIFT INTO A DIFFERENT DRIVE WITH THE WAY IT FELT AND SOME SHAKING. I WOULD PUSH THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN. I HAD TO COAST INTO A PARKING LOT TWICE OFF OF A BUSY ROAD WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND THEN BACK ON IT WAS AS IF NOTHING EVER HAPPENED AND RAN FINE SO THAT I COULD DRIVE HOME. I HAD A MECHANIC DO A DIAGNOSTIC AND NO CODES FOR THIS INCIDENT WHERE STORED OR PRESENT. THE THIRD TIME IT HAPPENED I DID NOT SHUT THE CAR OFF UNTIL SOMEONE COULD COME AND RUN A DIAGNOSTIC WHICH READ THE CODE P2112, THROTTLE ACTUATOR, CONTROL SYSTEM STUCK? REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS LAST TIME IT HAPPENED, I HAD TO CROSS TWO LANES OF BUSY MORNING WORK TRAFFIC IN ORDER TO GET TO A PARKING LOT.

STARTED THE CAR TO GET HEATER GOING AND WARMED UP AND STARTED BUCKLING MY KIDS UP IN THEIR CAR SEATS. THAT'S WHEN I STARTED TO SMELL AN ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL COMING THROUGH THE VENTS. I TURNED THE HEATER OFF AND THE SMELL GOT STRONGER. I TURNED THE HEATER BACK ON AND SMELLED IT EVEN WORSE. I IMMEDIATELY SWITCHED IT TO AC INSTEAD OF HEAT AND THEN I STARTED TO NOTICE SMOKE COMING THROUGH THE AIR VENTS. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE CAR OFF. THE SMOKE CONTINUED TO BELLO OUT OF THE AIR VENTS. AS SOON AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TURNED OFF I NOTICED A GLOW UNDER THE PASSENGER DASH DOWN BY THE CORNER OF THE FLOORBOARD. WHEN I WENT AROUND TO LOOK TO SEE WHAT WAS GLOWING I NOTICED THERE WAS A FIRE DOWN IN THAT CORNER AND IT WAS ALREADY BIG ENOUGH THAT I COULDN'T BLOW IT OUT NO MATTER HOW HARD I BLEW. I AM THANKFUL THAT I KEEP A FIRE EXTINGUISHER IN MY GARAGE AND WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY PUT IT OUT. I NORMALLY STRAP MY KIDS IN AND TURN ON A MOVIE FOR THEM WHILE I GO BACK IN THE HOUSE AND SPEND AROUND 3 TO 5 MINUTES GETTING THE KIDS WATERS, MAKING SURE THE DIAPER BAG IS STOCKED, AND BASIC STUFF LIKE THAT. HAD THAT FIRE STARTED AFTER I WALKED BACK IN THE HOUSE I AM SURE THAT I WOULD HAVE LOST MY KIDS IN A BLAZE, STRAPPED IN TO CAR SEATS, THAT DAY. IT WAS THANKSGIVING EVE. I FOUND OUT THAT THE BLOWER FAN FOR THE VENTS IS WHAT SPARKED UP AND CAUGHT FIRE. THERE ARE NO RECALLS BY FORD FOR THIS AND I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. THIS IS AN ENORMOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND I AM SHOCKED THAT IT HAS GONE IGNORED BY FORD. DOES AN ACTUAL DEATH NEED TO TAKE PLACE BEFORE THEY SET IT RIGHT? BECAUSE I DID JUST BUY IT; THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FAN. BUT THE FLOORBOARD IN THAT CORNER IS ALL BURNT UP AND AM NOW QUESTIONING WHAT MORE SERIOUS DAMAGE IS IN THAT DASH THAT I CAN'T SEE. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE ARRIVED AND THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO BRAKE FLUID INSIDE THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GALPIN FORD (15505 ROSCOE BLVD, VAN NUYS, CA 91343, (818) 787-3800) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND FILED A CASE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,222.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT APPROX 35 MPH ON A CITY STREET. THE BRAKES WERE LIGHTLY APPLIED UPON APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE PEDAL, WITHOUT ANY WARNING, WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO RESISTANCE AND THEN THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. PUMPING THE BRAKES ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO SLOWLY DECELERATE BUT, PEDAL TRAVEL CONSISTENTLY WENT FULL THROW. A VISUAL INSPECTION SHOWED AN EMPTY FLUID RESERVOIR AND NO INDICATION OF AN EXTERNAL LEAK. THE BREAK DOWN SHOWS THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED AND WAS DIVERTING THE BRAKE FLUID INTO THE BOOST ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE HAS 56,511 MILES ON IT.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, MY BRAKE PEDAL LOST RESISTANCE AND WENT TO THE FLOOR. I DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE BACK BRAKES WERE FUNCTIONING. I DISCOVERED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR THE 2016 FORD F150 (THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED BECAUSE OF THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER) AND WAS BECOMING A COMMON OCCURRENCE THE 2016 FORD EXPEDITION. IT SEEMS THAT BOTH MODEL SHARE THE SAME PART. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER AND BOOSTER ASSEMBLIES. THE REPAIR WAS DELAYED ABOUT A WEEK BECAUSE THE "RECALLED" MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER MODEL WAS ORDERED IN ERROR AND THE NEW MODEL WOULD TAKE A FEW DAYS TO GET IN. I FOUND THAT TO BE A STRANGE COMMENT WHEN THERE IS NOT INFORMATION RELATED TO A RECALL FOR THE 2016 FORD EXPEDITION.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER AND A "WRENCH" INDICATOR APPEARED. WAS ABLE TO NAVIGATE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WRENCH LIGHT INDICATES A POWER TRAIN ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF WHILE CONTACTING HELP. TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON AND WRENCH INDICATOR GONE. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. UPON SEARCHING THE PROBLEM APPARENTLY THIS HAS OCCURRED TO NUMEROUS FORD EXPEDITION OWNERS. VERY DANGEROUS AS THERE IS NO WARNING AND CAN HAPPEN AT ANYTIME.
WE DETECTED A BURNT RUBBER SMELL WHILE DRIVING ON A SURFACE STREET (WITH A/C ON). THE A/C SUDDENLY QUIT. WE PULLED OVER TO TURN SUV OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN HOPING A/C WOULD RETURN. A/C DID NOT RETURN, SMOKE BEGAN BILLOWING OUT OF A/C VENTS. STOPPED AT A GAS STATION AND TURNED OFF SUV. THE SMOKE FROM THE VENTS GOT THICKER AND LARGE FLAMES BEGAN COMING OUT UNDERNEATH THE DASH. HUSBAND RAN IN TO GAS STATION AND GOT A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. FIRE KEPT RESTARTING (THE PARKING LIGHTS WERE ON THOUGH THE CAR WAS OFF). HUSBAND FINALLY HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO KEEP FIRE FROM RESTARTING. THE A/C/HEATER BLOWER THEN FELL OUT ONTO THE FRONT PASSENGER FLOOR-MAT BURNED TO A CRISP.

2016 FORD EXPEDITION EL LIMITED - MANUFACTURED IN DEARBORN MICHIGAN "YELLOW WRENCH" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THE FREEWAY AND CUT 100% OF POWER TO THE MOTOR, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I HAD TO TRAVERSE TRAFFIC TO GET TO A SAFE AREA. CALLED A DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS LIKELY THE THROTTLE BODY. FORD IMPLEMENTED A VOLUNTARY RECALL FOR ALL OTHER 2015 & 2016 MODELS EXCEPT THE EXPEDITION WHICH IS BUILT ON THE EXACT SAME ASSEMBLY LINE AS THE F150 AND WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART. FORD RECALL NUMBER WAS 16B32. I AM PAYING $500 OUT OF POCKET SINCE THIS ITEM IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THIS ISSUE IS DANGEROUS AND COULD SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILL SOMEONE. FORD HAS HAD A HISTORY OF BAD THROTTLE BODIES AND THE NHSTA NEEDS TO HAVE THIS ISSUE FORMALLY RECALLED.

THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL TO SLOW THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED. CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID TURN IT OFF AND IT WOULD CLEAR ITSELF AS THIS WAS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM. IT CLEARED ITSELF. THEY SAID THIS PROBLEM WOULD REPEAT ITSELF BUT NO TELLING WHEN. SEARCHED ONLINE, SAW THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENING TO OTHERS AND THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 2014-2016 F-150 THAT SHARES THE SAME PLATFORM AND IS BUILT IN THE SAME FACTORY (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V-332. FORD'S REFERENCE NUMBER FOR THIS RECALL IS 20S31). FORD WILL NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR SINCE IT IS AT AN OUTSIDE SHOP. *TR

THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE THE LOSS OF POWER AND CONTROL HAPPENS ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AND SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED.

IN THE MORNING YOU COULDN'T GAUGE MY SHOCK, WHEN TO MY SURPRISE THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY AND DEVOID OF ANY BRAKE FLUID. NOT ONLY THAT! BUT THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF LEAKAGE ON THE GROUND. I HAVE A PAINTED DRIVEWAY AND THERE WAS NO FORENSIC EVIDENCE OF ANY KIND OF VEHICLE FLUID LEAKS. I WAS AGHAST! I HAVE SEVERAL OF MY NEIGHBORS COME OVER AS THEY SAW ME ATTENDING TO MY VEHICLE. WE ALL HAD FLASHLIGHTS AND WERE SCOURING THE VEHICLE LOOKING FOR ANY EVIDENCE OF BRAKE FLUID. THERE SIMPLY WAS NONE! I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO MY FORD DEALER AND AWAITED A DIAGNOSIS. TURNS OUT IT WAS A FAULTY MASTER CYLINDER IN COMBINATION WITH A BRAKE BOOSTER THAT DRINKS BRAKE FLUID WHEN IT CAN GET IT. TOGETHER THEY ARE A POTENTIALLY LETHAL COMBINATION NOT TO MENTION A COSTLY PAIR TO REPAIR. IF THERE EVER WAS A REASON FOR A RECALL IT WOULD BE TO REMEDY THIS LIABILITY WAITING TO HAPPEN ONTO FORD MOTOR COMPANY. I SIMPLY CANNOT FATHOM WHY NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN AND HENCE THE REASON I AM COMPLAINING. I CONTINUED ON THE HIGHWAY FOR MAYBE 3/4 A MILE AND THE WRENCH LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BOTH CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. I WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER TO A NARROW SIDE OF THE BUSY HIGHWAY. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, PRAYING NO ONE WOULD HIT ME. I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND HEADED FOR THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER. THE ONLY LIGHT THAT REMAINED ON WAS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. ONCE AT THE DEALER THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS THE THROTTLE BODY WAS " OUT OF RANGE". THE SOLUTION WOULD BE TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH WOULD COST ME $900. DESPITE THE CHARGES NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR, MY CONCERN IS SAFETY OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN WHICH THE VEHICLE WILL RAPIDLY DECELERATE ON A HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE. OTHER DRIVERS MAY NOT RECOGNIZE THAT YOUR VEHICLE IS SLOWING DOWN AS YOU ARE NOT PRESSING THE BRAKE AND YOU ARE UNABLE TO ACCELERATE TO A SAFE AREA! I HAVE CALLED FORD AND ONLY BEEN TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY FOR ANY REPAIRS TO BE MADE BY FORD, AND THERE ARE NOT ANY RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE AGAIN SPIT AND SPUTTERED AND BARELY ABLE TO MOVE. WE WERE UNABLE TO GET VEHICLE SAFELY OFF OF HIGHWAY. A TOW TRUCK HAD TO BE CALLED TO TOW US TO THE NEXT EXIT TO A GAS STATION. VEHICLE TURNED BACK ON AND WRENCH LIGHT OFF BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NOW FLASHING, WE CHOSE TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE REMAINING 5HRS HOME GOING 50-55MPH. RESEARCHED ISSUE ONLINE AND FOUND THIS TO BE A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE, COMMON WITH FORD VEHICLES. TOOK VEHICLE TO AUTOZONE FOR DIAGNOSTIC SCAN AND YES, THE ERROR CODE P2111 "THROTTLE BODY ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM,STUCK OPEN" IS WHAT WAS READ. THIS APPEARS TO BE A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS SAFETY CONCERN AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH FORD. I HAVE ALREADY CALLED FORD AND A RECALL WAS NOT IDENTIFIED WITH MY VEHICLE, BUT THIS HAS BEEN A RECALL WITH OTHER FORDS IN THE PAST. THERE ARE CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS ALSO. I WILL LOG A COMPLAINT WITH THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OFFICE AS WELL. I HAVE ALREADY PAID TO HAVE TO MANY OTHER REPAIRS DONE ON THIS VEHICLE BUT THIS ONE IS CERTAINLY A SAFETY CONCERN. MY VEHICLES BRAKES WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. FORTUNATELY I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY, WHICH IS ON A HILL, AND ABLE TO COME TO A STOP AND APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. AFTER COMING TO A STOP I CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID AND IT WAS EMPTY. THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF ANY LEAKS. I REFILLED THE BRAKE FLUID AND THE NEXT MORNING WAS EMPTY AGAIN. I CHECKED AGAIN TO FIND NO SIGN OF BRAKE FLUID LEAKS. I HAD TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED TO GOSCH FORD TEMECULA FOR THEM TO LOOK INTO THE ISSUE.
I'M DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEED WHEN SUDDENLY MY MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHTS UP AND NO ENGINE POWER. THE POWER STEERING, BRAKING, LIGHTING AND CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEMS REMAIN FULLY FUNCTIONAL, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE NO LONGER REMAINS OPERATIONAL. FORD HAS A RECALL 16B32 AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM IN OTHER FORD VEHICLES, BUT NOT MINE, BUT THE SAME EXACT THING IS HAPPENING. . $890 LATTER I AM HAVING MY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY REPLACED WITH ONLY 52,000 MILES AND FORD HAS NOTHING TO SAY ABOUT THE PROBLEM SINCE THE EXPEDITION IS NOT PART OF THE CSP. APPARENTLY, IN A VARIETY OF FORD VEHICLES, THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY INTERNAL MOTOR CONTACTS MAY DEVELOP CONTAMINATION RESULTING IN INCREASED ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE. IF THIS HAPPENS, WHICH IN MY CASE IT DID, THE MIL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE I EXPERIENCED A DECREASED AMOUNT OF ENGINE POWER AND SPEED AND I COULDN'T ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT GETTING HIT. THE DEALER IS REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY, REPROGRAMING MY VEHICLE, AND CLEANING THE INJECTIONS. THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS FOR THE 2016 FORD EXPEDITION, BUT FORD IS NOT DOING ANYTHING. I'M GLAD I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT GETTING HIT SINCE I HAD NO FUNCTION TO ACCELERATE.

I WAS TRAVELING AWAY FROM HOME AND WAS TOWING MY BOAT (ABOUT 4K WEIGHT). NO PERFORMANCE ISSUES OR WARNING LIGHTS ON THE TRIP THUS FAR. WHEN LEAVING THE HOTEL WE STAYED IN, I PRESSED THE BRAKE TO PUT THE TRUCK IN GEAR. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. ALL THE WAY DOWN. THE LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ON AND THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED TOO. THE FLUID RESERVOIR, TOPPED OFF A WEEK BEFORE, WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY, YET NO FLUID WAS ON THE GROUND. GOT THE TRUCK TOWED TO A FORD DEALER. NEEDED A NEW MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER, SAYING THAT THE SEAL BETWEEN THOSE 2 PARTS FAILED AND THE FLUID QUICKLY TRANSFERRED FROM THE PREVIOUSLY SEALED MASTER CYLINDER INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. DOING A BIT OF RESEARCH, I SEE A NHTSA RECALL ON F-150S THAT HAVE THE SAME MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER. I ALSO SEE AN INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY FOR '15 AND '16 F150S FOR BRAKE FAILURE. AND I SEE STORY UPON STORY OF EXPEDITION OWNERS ON THE EXPEDITION FORUM DESCRIBING THE SAME CRITICAL, POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. I'M GRATEFUL THE TRUCK WAS STOPPED WHEN IT FAILED. I TRULY FEEL I WOULD NOT BE HERE DESCRIBING THE SITUATION TO YOU IF IT HAD FAILED ON THE HIGHWAY, ON A BOAT RAMP, OR EVEN IN A CITY. IT'S REMARKABLE TO ME THAT POSSIBLY A $2.00 SEAL (PART) COULD HAVE COST ME MY LIFE, OR THOSE ALSO IN THE TRUCK. IT'S UNACCEPTABLE TO ALLOW TRUCKS TO REMAIN ON THE ROAD WITH A CHEAP PART THAT CAN FAIL THAT EASILY, LIKELY CAUSING DEATH OR SIGNIFICANT INJURY TO SELF AND THOSE YOU RUN INTO. FORD CAN DO BETTER. NHTSA CAN DO BETTER. LET'S GET THIS RECALLED BEFORE OTHERS DIE UNNECESSARILY.

ISSUE WITH BRAKING SYSTEM. WARNING LIGHT TURNED ON INDICATING LOW BRAKE FLUID, AND WITHIN MILE, THE BRAKE PEDAL HIT THE FLOOR. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET, AND THE BRAKE FAILURE WAS IMMEDIATE. WAS VERY FORTUNATE I WAS ON AN UNCROWDED CITY STREET AND WAS ABLE TO ROLL INTO A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT WITHOUT INCIDENT. NO LEAKING IDENTIFIED ANYWHERE NEAR THE MASTER CYLINDER OR BRAKES.
THE CHECK BRAKE LIGHT TURNED ON. THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. REFILLED AND DRAINED IMMEDIATELY WITH NO VISIBLE LEAKS FROM SYSTEM. PEDAL COULD BE PRESSED TO FLOOR WITHOUT ACTIVATING BRAKES. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT MASTER CYLINDER WAS DEFECTIVE AND LEAKING INTO BOOSTER.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE FREEWAY NEARING SPEEDS OF 65MPH WHEN THE BREAK LIGHT CAME ON AND INDICATED LOW BREAK FLUID (PRIOR TO THE ALERT MY BREAKING SYSTEM WAS FUNCTIONING NORMAL) MY BREAKS COMPLETELY GAVE OUT, AND I DEPRESSED THE BREAK PETAL AS FAR AS IT COULD GO ONLY SLIGHTLY SLOWING MY VEHICLE AND RELIED ON MY PARKING BREAK TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER TOWING IT TO AN OFFICIAL FORD REPAIR SHOP, THE DIAGNOSTIC SHOWED A FAILED MASTER CYLINDER, WHICH LEAKED BREAK FLUID INTO THE BREAK BOOSTER CAUSING THE WHOLE SYSTEM TO SUDDENLY FAIL PUTTING MY THREE YEAR OLD SONS LIFE IN DANGER AS WELL AS MINE
MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER TOTAL FAILURE. THANKFULLY THIS HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY BEFORE HEADING OUT TO DINNER. BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR. MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR TOTALLY EMPTY. NO SIGNS OF ANY LEAKS OR FLUID ON THE GROUND. HAD IT TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR THINKING IT WOULD BE COVERED BY THE FORD CPO POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN 15 YEARS HE HAS SEEN A MASTER CYLINDER FAIL ON AN EXPEDITION. I AGREE WITH OTHER OWNERS THIS SOUNDS VERY SIMILAR TO THE ISSUE FORD HAD WITH THE 2013-2014 YM F-150 PICK UP TRUCKS WITH THE 3.5L ECOBOOST ENGINE.

I WAS DRVING 70 MPH ON HIGHWAY WHEN MY CAR STARTED TO LOOSE POWER AND A WRENCH SYMBOL APPEARED. I HAD NO POWER AND HAD TO ROLLED TO SIDE OF HIGHWAY. MESSAGE SAID TRANSMISSION TEMP 199 DEGREES. I HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER AND THEY ARE TELLING ME IT NEEDS A NEW THROTTLE BODY. I AM RETIRED AND ONLY DRIVE 2 TIMES A WEEK TO SEE GRAND CHILDREN, GO TO STORE OR DOCTORS AND I ONLY HAVE ABOUT 43,000 MILES. CAR HAS HAD ALL SCHRDULED MAINTANANCE. I SEE FORD HAD A RECALL FOR OTHER 2015 AND 2016 MODELS FOR THROTTLE BODY THAT EXPIRED IN 2017 BUT NOTHING FOR 2016 EXPEDITION. THIS IS GOING TO COST ME $450.00.
2/1/2019 I WAS DRIVING UP INTERSTATE I16 AT ABOUT 1PM. WHEN MY TRUCK STARTED STALLING. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. I THEN NOTICED SMOKE COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE ENGINE BAY. A COUPLE OF OTHER DRIVERS STOPPED TO TRY TO RENDER ASSISTANCE WITH SMALL FIRE EXTINGUISHERS; TO NO AVAIL. THE VEHICLE SOON BECAME FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED, IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. THE ONLY THING THAT WAS OUT OF THE ORDINARY WAS I RAN OVER A PLASTIC BAG BLOWING ACROSS THE INTERSTATE, LIKE A WALMART BAG. I HAD ASSUMED THAT THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER HAD ALREADY FILED THIS REPORT BUT THEY HAVE NOT.

WE HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED AND IT SEEMED TO HELP UNTIL ABOUT NOV 2018 THEN INSTEAD OF CUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WOULD JERK HARD AND THEN YOU COULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER ABOUT 50MPH. MULTIPLE THINGS STARTED FLASHING ON THE DASH LIKE THE WRENCH, TRACTION CONTROL, HILL DESCENT, AND CHECK ENGINE. WE GOT ALL CODES READ AND THIS TIME IT WAS THE MAP SENSOR. WE HAVE REPLACED THE MAP SENSOR 2 TIMES WITH THE MOST RECENT IN JAN 2019. NOW THE EXPEDITION HAS STARTED TO AGAIN FLASH TRACTION CONTROL, HILL DESCENT, WRENCH, CHECK ENGINE AND THE CODES ARE READING MAP SENSOR AGAIN!! WE HAVE SPENT $200 ON EACH SENSOR WE HAVE REPLACED WHICH HAVE BEEN 3! WE HAVE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT AT THE END OF JAN TO FIND OUT AGAIN IF IT IS THE MAP SENSOR FOR A 3RD TIME OR IF IT IS SOME COMPUTER MALFUNCTION. WE HAVE NO MORE WARRANTY. THE " WRENCH " WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND THE CAR LOST POWER. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED . LUCKILY I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE.
THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTIONED AND WAS REPLACED AT 80000 MILES. REPLACEMENT THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTIONED AFTER AN ADDITIONAL 24000. IT WAS ALSO REPLACED. BOTH REPLACEMENTS WERE PERFORMED BY AUTHORIZED FORD DEALERS.
THIS ISSUE BEGAN ABOUT A MONTH AGO ON MY COMMUTE HOME FROM WORK, ALL ENGINE POWER WAS LOST AS I CAME OFF THE FREEWAY, THE COMPUTER ALERTED WITH A WRENCH ICON. I PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF, THEN AFTER A MINUTE RESTARTED. IT STARTED OK, I THEN USED AN ODB ADAPTER TO READ THE CODES, AND FOUND A SOFT (NOT PERMANENT) CODE P2112 (THROTTLE BODY STUCK CLOSED). I IMMEDIATELY CALL THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. WHEN THEY GOT THE CAR, THE CODE WAS NO LONGER IN THE COMPUTER. THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC, DECLARED THAT THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING, CHARGED ME $200, AND SENT ME HOME. SECOND OCCURRENCE WAS ABOUT 10 DAYS AGO, AGAIN DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, THEN WHILE COMING UP TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE SAME FAILURE HAPPENED AGAIN. AFTER RESTARTING, AND DRIVING HOME, I BEGAN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM. TODAY, WHILE RETURNING HOME IN THE RAIN DURING A 5 MILE DRIVE IT FAILED 5 TIMES, EACH TIME I HAD TO PULL OVER, SHUT IT DOWN THEN RESTART. NOW I HAVE A PERMANENT CODE STORED IN THE COMPUTER (P2112) AND AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX IT. I AM FAIRLY CERTAIN THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WILL BE REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP, BUT I AM OUT OF WARRANTY NOW, AND THEY WILL INDEED CHARGE ME. I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, AND BELIEVE FORD SHOULD PROVIDE AN UPDATED PART THAT WILL RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. I SUSPECT THAT THIS WILL IN TIME CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, PERHAPS EVEN INJURY FOR SOMEONE. THIS IS DUE TO AUTO MANUFACTURERS REMOVING THE RATHER SIMPLE MECHANICAL LINKAGE FROM PEDAL TO THROTTLE AND TURNING THIS OVER TO A COMPUTER. TO BE SURE, IT IS THE COMPUTER THAT IS CREATING THE DANGEROUS CIRCUMSTANCES BY DISENGAGING ALL THROTTLE CONTROL WHEN THE THROTTLE BODY IS STICKING, FORCING THE DRIVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD (ASSUMING THERE IS A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER).
THE VEHICLE BLOWER SPEED CONTROLLER DOESN'T MATCH SETTING ON THE CLEMENT CONTROL. THE BLOWER WILL BLOW AT FULL SPEED OR NOT AT ALL. THIS HAPPENS NOT MATTER THE DISPOSITION TO THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THIS IN WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, NOTHING WAS FOUND. SECOND TIME OUT OF WARRANTY, STATED IT WAS A SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT WAS NEEDED. THIRD TIME THEY FOUND THE ISSUE WITH THE SPEED CONTROL AND THE WIRE HARNESS HAD MELTED (POTENTIAL FIRE ISSUES). NOW THAT THE ISSUE WAS FOUND, PALM COAST FORD REFUSES TO FIX IT UNDER WARRANTY. ON SEARCHING MOST COMMON ISSUES WITH THE FORD EXPEDITION I HAVE FOUND THAT THE BLOWER SPEED CONTROL IS AN ISSUE FOR MANY PEOPLE. FROM PERSONAL FINDING, IT IS A FIRE HAZARD, WHICH MAKES IT A SAFETY HAZARD. I HAD MENTIONED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. WHEN IT GOT MORE COMMON OF AN ISSUE AND MORE ANNOYING, I TOOK IT IN WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY TO HAVE IT DOCUMENTED.

BOUGHT MORE FLUID, REFILLED AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE HOME. ABOUT A MILE LATER WARNING LIGHT APPEARED AGAIN. ONCE HOME, BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WAS EMPTY AGAIN. LOOKED ON-LINE AND NOTICED THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2015 F-150 TRUCKS FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE (MASTER CYLINDER FAILURE, LEAKING FLUID TO BRAKE BOOSTER). REFILLED THEN ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE TO DEALERSHIP. STOPPED ONCE TO REFILL AFTER WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. GOT TO DEALERSHIP AND AS PULLING INTO SERVICE BAY BRAKE PEDAL HAD NO PRESSURE, WENT TO FLOOR AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. LUCKILY, WAS JUST ROLLING SLOW AND WAS ABLE TO BUT VEHICLE IN PARK TO STOP. VERY DANGEROUS IF THIS HAD OCCURRED ON STREET! FORD DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED SUSPICION, MASTER CYLINDER LEAKING IN BRAKE BOOSTER. SAME ISSUE AS 2015 F150 RECALL, BUT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR 2016 FORD EXPEDITIONS EVEN THOUGH THEY USE THE SAME DRIVETRAIN? VEHICLE OUT OF WARRANTY SO HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET.

WE WERE STRANDED IN FLAGSTAFF UNTIL 9/4/18, UNABLE TO GET AUTHORIZATION FOR A RENTAL CAR UNTIL IT WAS DETERMINED IF IT WAS COVERED BY A WARRANTY. ULTIMATELY, THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. THE VEHICLE WAS SHAKING AND WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TOWED. THE FOLLOWING DAY MY HUSBAND HOOKED HIS CODE READER AND THE CODE PRESENTED P2112 POWERTRAIN FAULT. IT STARTED FINE AND WE THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A GLITCH. ON WEDNESDAY AUGUST 28, 2018, WE HEADING TO THE AIRPORT AND IT DID THE EXACT SAME THING ABOUT 20 MINUTES IN. THIS TIME WE WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH AND HAD AN ABRUPT DECELERATION WITH SEMIS TRAVELING BEHIND US. WE QUICKLY PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ONE. WE WERE ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE AND CONTINUE DOWN FOR ABOUT 3 MILES BEFORE IT DID IT AGAIN. AGAIN, WE TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND STARTED BACK UP. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND FORD NEEDS TO RECALL SINCE THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT OR LOSS OF LIFE.

AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS OF AN INTERMITTENT ACCELERATION PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING UP A HILL. THE ENGINE DID NOT SHUT OFF BUT NOTHING HAPPENED WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL. I WAS ON A SIDE STREET JUST ABOUT TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY SO I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER AT THAT TIME. AFTER RESTARTING THE TRUCK I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME BUT THEN HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. THE DEALER FOUND THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT OTHER FORD MODELS HAD THE SAME FAILURE WITH THE SAME PART ON THE SAME ENGINE BUT THE EXPEDITION WAS NOT SPECIFICALLY INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA RECALL.
WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE GOES INTO "LIMP MODE". THIS HAS HAPPENED 8 TIMES IN THE PAST WEEK AT SPEEDS OF 50MPH OR EVEN 15MPH DRIVING NORMAL ON A HIGHWAY, COUNTRY ROAD, AND ENTRANCE TO A PARKING LOT. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS ABSOLUTELY ZERO POWER AND DRIVER MUST PLACE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND COAST TO A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER. ONCE PULLED OVER, THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE TURNED COMPLETELY OFF AND RESTARTED. AFTERWARDS, THE VEHICLE RUNS VERY ROUGH AND CEL IS ON. THE CODE FOR THE ENGINE LIGHT DISPLAYS THE CODE : 2112 WHICH IS THE THROTTLE ACTUATOR IS STUCK CLOSED. AFTER DOING RESEARCH, THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE FOR YEARS AND NOT BEING TAKEN OF. THIS COULD EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF SOMEONE IS GOING 70MPH IN TRAFFIC, ON A BRIDGE, OR EVEN 45MPH IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE ON THE INTERSTATE.
CATASTROPHIC BRAKE FAILURE DURING NORMAL OPERATION ON A CITY STREET I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY STOP DUE TO A LOW FLUID LIGHT BUT BY THE TIME I WAS AT A SAFE PLACE TO STOP THE BRAKES HAD ALMOST COMPLETELY FAILED. REFILLED RESERVOIR ONLY TO WATCH IT DRAIN WITH NO VISIBLE LEAKS (INTO THE BOOSTER?)

EVEN AFTER ADDING BRAKE FLUID PURCHASED FROM FORD DEALER; THE FLUID KEEPS DECREASING ALL WITHOUT ANY VISIBLE LEAKAGE AROUND CAR AND/OR TIRES/ETC. EVENTUALLY AND QUICKLY YOU WILL QUICKLY GET ZERO BRAKE RESPONSE; THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL GO TO BOTTOM OF FLOOR AND IN MY CASE; THERE WAS WHITE CLOUDS COMING OUT OF OUR EXHAUST. ZERO BRAKING ABILITY. COULD NOT GO OVER 40 MPH WITHOUT LOSING POWER AGAIN. APPARENTLY EVERY OTHER 2016 FORD HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR A THROTTLE BODY DEFECT EXCEPT THE EXPEDITION. OUR ISSUE WAS A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY.

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A "NEW" USED CAR. A FEW WEEKS AFTER I BOUGHT IT, THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE AIRBAGS HAD BEEN TAMPERED WITH BY SOMEONE. THEY DID SOME RESEARCH, AND THEY AUCTION HOUSE THEY BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM NEVER DISCLOSED THAT IT HAD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THEY TRIED TO COVER UP THAT THE AIRBAGS HAD BEEN DEPLOYED, THE CUT AND SPLICED THE WIRING TO BYPASS SAFETY RELAYS/SWITCHES SO A DIAGNOSTIC TESTER WOULD NOT CATCH IT. I DROVE AROUND FOR 6 MONTHS WITH MY TWO CHILDREN (BOTH UNDER THE AGE OF 3) WITH NO WORKING AIRBAGS! IF YOU CALL ME, I CAN HAVE THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRM EVERYTHING.
THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. HAS HAPPENED OVER 8 TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON BUSY HIGHWAYS. VEHICLE LOOSES THROTTLE CONTROL WHILE DRIVING. IT FORCES YOU TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART IT TO RESET IT. VERY DANGEROUS.
THE SUNROOF EXPLODED WHILE PARKED. THE VISOR WAS CLOSED SO GLASS DID NOT ENTER THE CAR. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW, AND HAS 15,000 MILES ON IT. THE SUNROOF GLASS HAD EXPANDED OUTWARDS, AS SEEN IN THE PICTURE, AND DID NOT HAVE ANY CRACKS DUE TO IMPACTS PRIOR TO THE GLASS FAILURE.

THE RPMS WILL FLUCTUATE UP AND DOWN AND STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR DOES NOTHING. NO WARNING IS GIVEN, AND I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT. THE DIAGNOSTIC WAS COMPLETED AT A FORD DEALERSHIP AND IT TURN OUT TO BE THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUES WITH FORD CARS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME. LOSING CONTROL OF ACCELERATION CAN BE DEADLY DEPENDING ON THE CIRCUMSTANCES. I DEPRESSED THE THROTTLE AND FOUND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNRESPONSIVE TO THROTTLE INPUT. I HAD TO COAST ALONG TO A STOP THANKFULLY I WAS IN A SAFE AREA WHEN THIS OCCURRED. IF THIS EVENT WERE TO OCCUR IN CERTAIN SCENARIOS THE OUTCOME COULD BE FATAL. I WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART AND I NOW HAD NORMAL FUNCTIONALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THE INFORMED THAT THIS WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY CONTROL. FROM DOING SOME ONLINE RESEARCH THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN VERY PREVALENT ON OTHER FORD MODELS.

HOWEVER NOW THAT IT IS GETTING DARK EARLIER I FIND MYSELF DRIVING IN THE DARK MORE OFTEN AND THE VEHICLE IS NEAR UNSAFE. I FEAR THAT I WILL NOT SEE AN OBJECT OR ANIMAL IN THE ROAD. THE ORIGINAL PART THROTTLE BODY REPLACED WAS PART # BL3Z*9E9268A. THE NEW THROTTLE BODY IS PART # BL3Z*9E926*B. I HAVE HAD THIS FORD EXPEDITION FOR 11 MONTHS. I LEARNED MANY THROTTLE BODY PARTS ON FORD EXPLORERS HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR INFORMATION. THERE WAS NO LISTINGS OF 2016 EXPEDITIONS HAVING THIS LIFE THREATENING FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND STALLED AS THE WRENCH WARNING ICON ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.

THE DEALER FALSELY MARKS PAPERS AS WARRANTEE REPAIR WHEN A CALL TO FOR SAYS THAT VIN NUMBERED CAR HAD NO REPORT OF WARRANTEE REPAIR. FRAUDULENT REPORTING. FURTHER REPAIRS DON'T WORK. ONE FORD DEALER, CORRECTLY, SAID WINDSHIELD AND SEAL MUST BE REPLACED AS A UNIT. DEALERS IGNOR.

THEY ARE TRYING MAKE US TAKE CAR BACK. WE ARE CONCERNED THAT BRAKING SYSTEM FLAWED AND CAR UNSAFE. WE REFUSE TO ACCEPT CAR BACK. BROILED IN DEBATE BETWEEN CUST SERVICE AND DEALER. DEALER TRYING MAKE US FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR DEFECTIVE BREAKS, AND CLAIMING LEMON LAW REQUIRES 4 EVENTS.
MY 2016 FORD EXPEDITION EL LTD V-6 3.5L WITH 354 ODOMETER MILES PRODUCED 4 MINOR PRELUDE ENGINE SURGES WITHIN A COUPLE HOURS ON THE ROADWAYS BEFORE IT WENT FULL THROTTLE 5 TIMES WITHIN A COUPLE MINUTES. IT SUDDENLY, AND WITHOUT WARNING, RAN DOWN MY WIFE AFTER SQUISHING HER AGAINST THE GARAGE-BEDROOM WALL (WHICH WAS DESTROYED) IN REVERSE, PLACED ME IN TRAFFIC DANGER WHEN IT RACED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, PLACED A WITNESS DRIVING IN THE STREET IN DANGER AS IT BACKED UP, AND WHILE TURNING INTO MY DRIVEWAY FORWARD, PLOWED HALF ITS LENGTH INTO A NEIGHBORS HOUSE, AND DESTROYED MOST OF ITS EXTERIOR AS A RESULT OF THE FORWARD AND REVERSE COLLISIONS. THE BRAKES WERE ABSOLUTELY USELESS AND COULD NOT BEGIN TO OVERPOWER THE INDIVIDUAL ENGINE FULL POWER SURGES. THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED DESPITE THE FRONTAL IMPACT EXCEEDING 15 MPH. THE FULL THROTTLE ENGINE SURGE DURATIONS APPROXIMATED 6 SECONDS EACH; AND, THE TEMPORARY RETURNS TO IDLE LASTED 2-4 SECONDS. MY WIFE IS QUITE INJURED; BUT, COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN KILLED. I WAS PLANNING A HEAD-ON LARGE OAK TREE RAMMING TO STOP THE VEHICLE ONCE-AND-FOR-ALL. OTHER PEOPLE AND FORD NEED TO BE ADVISED OF THIS POTENTIAL DEATH TRAP SITUATION. PLEASE HELP.
