The oil cooler housing exploded in my 2016 Jeep Wrangler. I put my car into reverse- I backed up and tried to put the car into drive. The car would not shift out of neutral for several minutes- 2 quarts of oil spilled onto the ground. My car eventually made its way to drive and has been steadily leaking oil since.
Torque Converter was replaced due to internal failure. Vehicle had 62k miles when torque converter was replaced. Issue arouse around 40k when vehicle would die when placed in reverse after cold start. AutoNation dealership did not cover cost since vehicle had went over 2k of the power train warranty. When I researched online, I came to realize that this is a common problem within the JK models which is upsetting to pay out of pocket cost for defect parts from the manufacturer.
I have a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 2016 that suddenly lost power in fast moving traffic with intermittent miss fire and blinking check engine light along with smoke and smell of burning oil. Looking into the engine from the top a large , deep pool of oil was sitting in the middle of the engine and working its way on to hot components of engine and exhausts and smoking. This could have easily become fire hazard in high temperature desert environment where running temperatures and hot exhaust pipes could start a fire. The engine miss fire and sudden loss of power was checked to be failing ignition coils and plugs that are supposed to be warrantied to 100K miles. The Pentastar V6 3.6 oil cooler was leaking badly and its effect could have been disasterous for the engine and car safety. The Oil Cooler faulty plastic design on this engine is a well known problem that Chrysler is refusing to address as recall on Wranglers sold . There are hundreds of complaints and cases of failure of this plastic component on the internet and the dealers are all well aware of it and happy to charge $2k for replacement. Chrysler and the dealer refused to admit the faulty oil cooler design and also would not accept ignition coil and spark plug replacement under the Std 80,000 miles California Emission Control warranty that come with all engines sold in CA. Chrysler is hiding this faulty design on Wranglers but accepted it on other Chrysler cars.
2016 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED SPORT. Vehicle has 41,500 miles. 3.6 Liter Pentastar V6. Gushing oil from oil cooler on to the exhaust and smoking to the point of catching fire. Known issue from what I am reading online. I guess Chrysler is waiting for one of us Jeep owners to die in a car fire!! $1200 to replace.....UNACCEPTABLE that a recall has not been forced on Chrysler!!!!
My 2016 Jeep Wrangler with 53,000 miles on had the airbag light come on and when I went to have it checked it was due to a Occupant restraint control module malfunction. I was told this might not allow the airbags to deploy and that it could even deploy spontaneously. I have seem all kinds of recalls across the years for OCR related items(especially from FCA/Chrysler) https://www.automotiveworld.com/news-releases/chrysler-statement-occupant-restraint-control-orc-module/ You can inspect if you would like. Dealer noted the ORC was malfunctioning.
Power steering no longer works. Started at 41,000 miles. Replaced power steering pump and still doesn’t work. Mechanic thinks it’s probably the power steering box.

The vehicle was taken to a local dealer and diagnosed with needing the clock spring replaced however, the vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V288000 (Air Bags) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.
I am reporting a dangerous brake part on all of the later model wranglers. The front brake lines collapse because of a clamp holding the brake line. This happened to our 2016 Jeep Wrangler willys edition it is garaged and only has 25,342 miles. The dealer wanted 2700 to redo all of the front brakes. This is a cross section of both hoses below. I bought the replacement lines and they have the exact same defect. Poor engineering here. The metal should not clamp the hose but be rolled around it so the hose has some clearance. I do not know who to report this to but I paid the dealer $180 to lie to me about it needing calipers rotors and hoses. Took it home and I diagnosed the issue. Spent around $200 for new hoses and my labor to change them out and bleed the system. I have temporarily put on the oem lines but am looking for some better aftermarket alternatives as the replacement is crimped and will fail soon. The left front caliper seized up locally. Right one was bad also. So glad it seized near our neighborhood.
Oil filter housing/Oil cooler cracked. Dealership says its a common problem on 2014+ jeeps with 3.6 liter engine yet Jeep hasn't issued a recall. Dealer stated that this seems to happen around 50,000 miles on vehicle. No warning lights came on, noticed smoke coming from under hood when driving from oil falling onto exhaust. When pulled over large amount of oil was coming out from underside of Jeep. This happened with 43k miles on the vehicle which is right around where the dealer said they were seeing a large amount of failures for this part.
I was in a high speed impact collision rear ended at full speed and thrown into vehicle in front of me, me and my husband both suffered facial trauma as airbags did not deploy and both front seats twisted ans broke backwards in backseat where my 2 minor children were located.
The clock spring has gone out, 15 and older was issued a recall, my 2016 (built 2015) is not included and denied buy jeep. My airbag light has been on about 20,000 miles now.

AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING HAS BEEN RECALLED PREVIOUSLY ON THIS VEHICLE AND WAS REPLACED , BUT SAME ISSUE HAS OCCURED AGAIN, WITH AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ON AND NO HORN OR STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS. VEHICLE IS ONLY A 2016 AND SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS REOCCURING ISSUE.
ON THURSDSY 5/13/2021 AT APPROXIMATELY 5:15-5:20PM, I WAS DROPPING MY DAUGHTER OFF TO WORK AND I GOT BACK ON THE ROAD THEN THROUGH THE U-TURN TO GET BACK ON THE OTHER SIDE. I PROCEEDED TO ENTER THE ROADWAY INITIALLY ABOUT 10MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE JEEP ACCELERATED TO ALMOST 80 MPH AND I SMASHED THE BRAKED AND IT WOULD NOT STOP AT ALL. THE RPM'S WERE STEADY GOING UP. I PULLED UP THE EMERGENCY BRAKE RIGHT BEFORE I ALMOST REAR ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AT THE LIGHT GETTING READY 6O GO THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. I WAS ON THE BRAKE AT THE SAME TIME. ONCE THE CAR FINALLY CAME TO A STOP, THE ENGINE WAS STILL REVED UP. I PUT IN PARK AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF WITH THE IGNITION. I THEN RESTARTED AND WAS SCARED THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THERE WAS NOTHING UNDER THE BRAKE. MY FLOOR MATS WERE FLUSH AND FLAT AND THE ACCELERATION WAS SO SCARY. I FEARED FOR MY LIFE. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT SINCE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN THE NEXT MORNING, FRIDAY THE 14TH AT 10 AM BUT THAT THEU WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO LOOK AT IT UNTIL 7-10 DAYS. I DID NOT BRING IT AS THIS WAS UNACCEPTABLE. I WILL CALL BACK AND SPEAK WITH SOMEONE ELSE FOR RESULTS. THE TECH EVEN TOLD ME THAT THIS HAPPENED TO HIS BROTHER THAT ALSO HAVE A JEEP. THERE ISN'T A RECALL FOR THIS THAT I'VE FOUND. SOMEONE WILL LOSE THEIR LIFE BECAUSE OF THIS MALFUNCTION. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD.
ENGINE OIL COOLER ASSEMBLY LEAKING AT BACK OF ENGINE. OIL LEAKING DOWN BACK OF ENGINE AND BELL HOUSING CREATING A POSSIBLE FIRE. VERY HOT SMELL AND SMOKING FROM ENGINE BAY
I WAS TOLD THAT MY OIL FILTER HOUSING ADAPTER HAS A MAJOR LEAK. BUT, THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER. THERE ARE 40,000 PLUS ON BACK ORDER AND THE NUMBER WAS ORIGINALLY 60,000. IT JUST SEEMS THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. MY ENGINE COULD SEIZE WHILE DRIVING IF I HAPPEN TO RUN OUT OF OIL AND IT COULD NOT ONLY INJURE MYSELF BUT SOMEONE ELSE AND I HAVE NO WAY OF GETTING THE PART ANYTIME SOON.
THE OIL FILTER CANISTER/OIL COOLER IS CRACKED AND IS LEAKING OIL. THIS IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO OUR MECHANIC AND SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS BOUGHT FROM AND HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MANY OTHER PART HOUSES THAT THIS REPLACEMENT PART IS ON A 50,000 + PARTS BACK ORDER AND THAT IT CAN TAKE ANYWHERE FROM 20-60 DAYS TO GET THE PART IN TO REPLACE IT. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN WE NOTICED THE LEAK AND NEVER DRIVEN AGAIN AFTER THAT. THIS TELLS ME THAT THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE AND THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. I UNDERSTAND THE MANUFACTURING SIDE OF THINGS BUT THAT IS A LARGE NUMBER FOR THE BACK ORDER.
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON CAUSING MY AIR BAGS TO NOT DEPLOY IF I DO GET IN AN ACCIDENT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STOPPING AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO PASSENGER'S SIDE WHEEL AND FENDER OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WHEEL WAS PUSHED UP INTO THE WHEEL WELL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PUSHED LATERALLY APPROXIMATELY 7-10 FEET. THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT WENT THROUGH THE ENGINE BLOCK AND WENT OUT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. ADDITIONALLY, THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED AND HOOD CLIP ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WAS SEVERED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT ASSUMED THAT THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH AT THE TIME OF IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT BUT WAS NOT YET INSPECTED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE BACK AND NECK, AND A MINOR LACERATION TO THE RIGHT LEG. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT HE MIGHT HAVE ALSO SUSTAINED POSSIBLE BRAIN AND SPINAL CORD INJURIES. THE OTHER DRIVER SUSTAINED A LACERATION TO THE LEFT LEG BELOW THE KNEE AND WAS TRANSPORTED FROM THE SCENE BY THE PARAMEDICS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE CHOSE NOT TO LEAVE WITH THE PARAMEDICS BECAUSE AT THE TIME HE FELT NO PAIN HOWEVER, LATER IN THE EVENING AND THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT, HE EXPERIENCED EXCRUCIATING PAIN. THE NEXT MORNING THE CONTACT WENT TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM TO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. THERE WERE CT SCANS AND X-RAYS PERFORMED ON THE CONTACT. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V734000 (AIR BAGS) AND STATED THAT HE HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION OR NOTIFICATION FROM THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE RECALL FOR WHICH THE VIN WAS INCLUDED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

WHEN TRANSMISSION IS COLD AND IS PUT IN REVERSE IT WILL CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL AND STALLING OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN RESTARTED THE VEHICLE WILL RUN WITH A VERY ROUGH LOW RPM IDLE, HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES OVER LAST FEW MONTHS. WILL DOCUMENT FROM NOW ON WHEN IT DOES IT AGAIN.

ENGINE OIL COOLER IS OUT AND LEAKING OIL EVERYWHERE. THE VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVEABLE AND THE PART IS ON OVER A 45 DAY BACK ORDER. NO COMPANY WILL EVER TAKE MY VEHICLE IN DUE TO THE PART UNABLE TO BE ORDERED. EVERYONE SEEMS TO BE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. MY JEEP HAS 62K MILES ON IT AND IS MY DAILY DRIVER. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.

THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP PENTASTAR 3.6 V6 ENGINE. AFTER CONTACTING JEEP DEALERS TO FIX LEAK THEY TELL ME THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER DUE TO SO MANY JEEP AND CARS THAT HAVE THIS PART. THE NUMBER THEY GAVE ME IS OVER 40,000 AND TIME FRAME OF GETTING ONE COULD BE A MONTH. THIS EXPLAINS WHY JEEP DROP POWER TRAIN WARRANTY FROM 100,000 MILES TO 60,000. I NOTICED A LITTLE LEAK AT 65,000 MILE AND NOW AT 70,000 MILES YOU HAVE TO KEEP ADDING OIL OR PARK IT DUE TO MAYBE IT CATCHING ON FIRE. ONE DEALER TOLD ME HE HAD 30 VEHICLE SITTING ON LOT WAITING ON PART.I FEEL JEEP SHOULD HAVE A RE-CALL FOR THIS ISSUER. NOW I HAVE A JEEP THAT I CAN'T USE FOR A MONTH OR MORE IF LUCKY.

THE CONTACT INFORMED A JEEP DEALER OF THE FAILURE BUT THE PART TO REPAIR WAS ON BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TYPICALLY ON FIRST START OF THE DAY IN COLD WEATHER (SUB 40DEGREES) WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHILE IN PUTTING THE JEEP INTO REVERSE CAUSES IT TO LURCH BACKWARDS, DROP IDLE AND THEN STALL WHILE IN GEAR.
COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER ON HIGHWAY MULTIPLE TIMES. EVERY LIGHT ON DASH FLASHES AND HEADLIGHTS FLICKER
BETWEEN 41,258 MILES AND LESS THAN 43,000 MILES, FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS LOCKED UP. HUSBAND THROWN FORWARD TOWARD WINDSHIELD -- WITHOUT APPLYING THE BRAKES -- AT CITY DRIVING SPEED BUT WAS SAVED BY HIS SEATBELT FROM GOING THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. IT ALSO FELT LIKE THE BRAKES WERE VERY GRABBY EARLIER ON THAT TRIP AND MORE ACCELERATION WAS NEEDED TO MAKE THE CAR TRAVEL FORWARD AS THE WHEELS SEEMED NOT TO MOVE FREELY, LIKE THEY WERE BEING HELD BACK. ROTORS SEVERELY SCORED, COULDN'T BE MACHINED. BOTH FRONT CALIPERS, ROTORS, HOSES, PADS, LINES, FLUIDS ALL REQUIRED REPLACEMENT ACCORDING TO KOONS TYSONS JEEP IN VIENNA, VA. IN A 2 SECOND GOGGLE SEARCH OF JEEP OWNER'S FORUM BRAKE COMPLAINTS, THERE ARE OVER 300 SIMILAR BRAKE CALIPER AND LOCKING UP COMPLAINTS FOR 3RD GENERATION WRANGLER VEHICLES BETWEEN 2007 AND 2017. THE DEALERSHIP SHARED WITH US THAT THE NEW PARTS THEY USED FOR OUR FRONT BRAKE REPAIR ARE THE RE-ENGINEERED OEM PARTS DESIGNED BY JEEP AND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE ORIGINAL FRONT BRAKE PARTS THAT SHIPPED ON THESE VEHICLES FROM THE FACTORY (YET THERE IS NO RECALL TO DATE -- IF JEEP RE-DESIGNED THE ORIGINAL PARTS, THEY CLEARLY KNOW THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE HERE, PLUS THEY SUPPLY THE JEEP OWNER'S FORUM??). WE WERE GIVEN AN INVOICE OF $1,500+ FOR THE FRONT BRAKE REPAIRS. WE CONTACTED JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO DENIED KNOWLEDGE OF THIS FRONT BRAKE SAFETY ISSUE. THEY ASKED THE DEALERSHIP TO WORK WITH US TO DISCOUNT THE PRICE AS WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 36,000 MILES, BUT JEEP DID NOT DO ANYTHING FOR US DIRECTLY. JEEP DID ACKNOWLEDGE ON THE PHONE THAT THEY MAY NEED THEIR RECALL DIVISION TO LOOK INTO THIS SAFETY ISSUE. WE ALSO HAPPENED TO DISCUSS THIS ISSUE WITH OUR SON, WHO THEN TOLD US HE HAD THE SAME BRAKE ISSUES WITH HIS 2016 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED WHICH HAD TO HAVE 3 BRAKE REPAIRS FOR THIS ISSUE BEFORE HE GOT RID OF IT BECAUSE HE WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT.
SPOKE WITH BRITTANY ABOUT THE ISSUE WITH THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM (ERROR MESSAGES). TOLD HER THAT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE ENTIRE RADIO MUST BE REPLACED AND WILL BE ROUGHLY $600. BRITTANY TOLD ME THAT UCONNECT AND GARMIN MAKE THE PRODUCTS IN THE JEEP PERTAINING TO THOSE ISSUES. I TOLD BRITTANY THAT I HAD SPOKEN TO MULTIPLE PEOPLE AT BOTH OF THOSE COMPANIES AND THEY ALL SAID THAT THE ISSUES I AM HAVING ARE ALL A JEEP PROBLEM. I TOLD BRITTANY THAT THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE HAS INDICATED THAT THIS ISSUE IS A KNOWN JEEP PROBLEM. BRITTANY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE RECEIVED MANY CALLS AND HAVE HAD MANY CLAIMS REGARDING THIS ISSUE WITH JEEPS AS NEW AS 2018, 2019, AND 2020 MODELS. THEY ALSO HAVE MANY CALLS AND CLAIMS REGARDING THIS ISSUE IN OLDER MODEL VEHICLES AS WELL. SHE STATED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTS BY CUSTOMERS TO GET THE COST OF THESE ISSUES COVERED, AND THEY HAVE BEEN DENIED EACH TIME. BRITTANY ADDED MY NAME/VEHICLE/ISSUE TO THE CLAIMS REGARDING THIS ISSUE. SHE SAID THAT IF THERE WAS A RECALL OR EXTENDED WARRANTY REGARDING THIS THEN I WOULD RECEIVE INFORMATION IN THE MAIL. I TOLD HER I WAS GOING TO GET THE ISSUE FIXED THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP AND ASKED ABOUT REIMBURSEMENT IF THIS RECALL OR EXTENDED WARRANTY WERE TO COME OUT. SHE TOLD ME THAT IF EITHER THE RECALL OR WARRANTY DO COME OUT, I SHOULD KEEP MY RECEIPT FROM THE REPAIR AND I CAN GET REFUNDED FOR THE FULL COST OF THE PARTS/LABOR/TAXES/ETC. I ALSO ASKED ABOUT IF THIS REFUND WOULD APPLY IF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WERE GRANTED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS MADE IN CANADA, AND SHE TOLD ME I WOULD STILL GET THE REFUNDED AMOUNT. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 20,000 MILES ON IT. GARAGE KEPT. BRAKES FAILED. NEEDS NEW BRAKE PADS, NEW ROTORS, AND NEW SPEED SENSORS. $850 WORTH OF WORK. THIS IS RIDICULOUS FOR A CAR WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE. WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CHRYSLER PRODUCT.
AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON IN JEEP, TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE MODULAR THAT CONTROLS THE ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM AND HE COULDN'T GUARANTEE THE AIRBAGS WOULD DEPLOY. THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 36,000 (IT HAS 39,000) AND IT WOULD BE $900 TO FIX.
ON COLD DAYS AFTER THE JEEP HAS BEEN SITTING OVERNIGHT, THE ENGINE WILL STALL WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS SHIFTED INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE JEEP IS STARTED AND IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE IF THE CAR IS RUNNING FOR 30 SECONDS BEFORE IT IS SHIFTED OR RUNNING FOR 3 MINUTES, THE ENGINE WILL STALL WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE. THIS HAPPENED LAST WINTER AND HAS STARTED DOING IT AGAIN NOW THAT ITS COLD.
ENGINE OIL COOLER FAIL, EXTREME FIRE HAZARD. SMALL AMOUNT OF OIL FOUND ON DRIVEWAY WHILE PARKED, ATTEMPTED TO LOCATE SOURCE BY STARTING ENGINE. OIL FLOODED OUT OF THE ENGINE, STREAMING DOWN THE ENGINE TO THE FRAME. HAD MY WIFE DRIVEN THE JEEP TO WORK IT WOULD'VE PROBABLY CAUGHT FIRE ONCE THE OIL REACHED THE EXHAUST.
I NOTICED AN OIL BURNING SMELL AND UPON FURTHER INSPECTION SAW OIL ALL OVER THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF MY VEHICLE INCLUDING THE TRANSMISSION AND EXHAUST . LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND NOTICED OIL UNDERNEATH MY ENGINE COVER BY THE OIL FILTER HOUSING. SO NOW EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT SMELLS LIKE IT'S ON FIRE. SO I GUESS THEY ARE NOT WORRIED ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO BUY THEIR VEHICLES BURNING UP.
I HAVE GONE THROUGH OVER 4 SETS OF MUD TERRAIN TIRES OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS THAT ARE UNEVENLY WORN AND NO ONE KNEW WHY. MOST RECENTLY, THE REAR RIGHT TIRE HAD A SIDEWALL GASH AND HAD A FLAT TIRE, WE BEGAN SMELLING SMOKE AND ENDED UP TAKING THE JEEP INTO BRAKEMASTERS AND WAS TOLD THE ENTIRE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS FAILING AND FALLING APART. WE HAD THE REAR DIFF REPLACED, BRAKES, ROTORS AND PAID $5000 OUT OF POCKET AND AS I WAS DRIVING FROM HOME TO TUCSON THE OTHER DAY TO MY MATERNITY APPOINTMENT, THE BACK RIGHT TIRE BEGAN SCREECHING WHILE NOT BRAKING AND BEGAN SIZZLING AND BURNING WITH OIL COMING OUT FROM THE TIRE. I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED AT THE NEAREST BRAKEMASTERS AND THEY SAID THAT AN ENTIRELY NEW REAR DIFFERENTIAL IS NEEDED. NOT ONLY COULD THE JEEP HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE WITH THIS SAFETY ISSUE BUT I KEPT LOSING CONTROL OF THE STEERING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY WITH A 2 YEAR OLD AND ONE ON THE WAY. I AM HOPING TO SEE SOME SORT OF RESOLUTION ON THIS AND TO BE COMMUNICATED WITH OTHER JEEP OWNERS OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MECHANIC INFORMED CONTACT THE STEERING WHEEL HAD BEEN TURNED TO MANY TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
BRAKES SEIZED UP WITH ONLY 37,000 MILES. IT REQUIRED A FULL FRONTAL BRAKE REBUILD. THE MECHANICS SAID THIS SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE AND YEAR. BECAUSE THEY WERE "SEIZED" UP, IT CAUSED EVERYTHING TO HEAT UP AND RUINED THE CALIPERS, PAD AND ROTARS. IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE WHEN WE TOOK IT IN TO THE MECHANIC.

THE JEEP WRANGLER HAS 37K MILES AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BREAK CALIBER LOCKED UP. WHEN THIS FIRST OCCURRED/IDENTIFIED THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 70 MPH. WHEN BREAKING THE JEEP MADE A STRONG PULL TO THE RIGHT ALMOST SENDING THE VEHICLE OFF THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD..
THE OIL FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLY IS MADE OF PLASTIC THAT CRACKS. THIS LEADS TO OIL LEAKING AND SEVERAL INCHES OF OIL SITS IN THE V OF THE HOT ENGINE UNTIL IT SPILLS OVER. THIS IS A DEFINITE FIRE HAZARD. FCA NEEDS TO RECALL WITH A REDESIGNED PART MADE OF METAL. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED MINE TWICE IN 1 YR. REPLACING IT WITH THE SAME PART IS NOT FIXING IT. FAILED AT 29K MILES AND NOW AT 42K MILES. THIS IS A $1000 REPAIR EACH TIME. MINE WAS COVERED UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY BUT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE QUALITY AND PRACTICES. I NOTICED OIL LEAKING UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE AGAIN AND THIS TIME I THOUGHT IT WAS THE REAR MAIN SEAL. I NOTICED BURNT OIL IN THE V OF THE ENGINE BLOCK AS WELL. TO MY SUPRISE, SAME PART HAS FAILED ALREADY. PARTS FAILING AT THIS LOW OF MILEAGE ARE A DESIGN FLAW THAT IS BEING IGNORED BY FCA. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. OH... ONE LAST THING..WHILE THE MECHANIC HAD IT APART, HE NOTICED THE HEAD GASKET WAS LEAKING TOO SO HE REPLACED THAT AT 29K MILES. NO WONDER CHRYSLER/FIAT IS THE WORST CAR MAKER IN THE WORLD.

AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 20 MINS THE RADIATOR FAN WOULD RUN AT FULL SPEED TO COOL THE ENGINE. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP 12/31/2019 AND THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING WITH NO WARNING. THE SERVICE ADVISOR CLAIMED THAT RUNNING THE HEAT TOO HIGH INSIDE THE VEHICLE PROBABLY CAUSED THE RADIATOR TO CRACK AND LEAK... THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 40K MILES ON IT WHEN THE RADIATOR WAS REPLACED AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY.
MY WIFE HAS HAD HER GAS PEDAL STICK ON HER ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, AND I HAVE HAD IT STICK ON ME ONCE (10-4-20). THE FIRST TIME IT DID IT TO HER WAS ABOUT A MONTH OR SO AGO, AND THEN IT DID IT TO HER TWICE THIS MORNING ON HER WAY TO WORK (10-9-20). IT SEEMS TO ONLY DO IT UNDER A HARD ACCELERATION. THE PEDAL WILL DROP TO THE FLOOR, RPM WILL SHOOT UP, AND IT WILL NOT DISENGAGE FOR A GOOD 10 SECONDS OR SO. I HAVE VERIFIED THAT THE FLOOR MATT IS NOT OBSTRUCTING THE PATH OF THE PEDAL. THIS SEEM STO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG THE JK JEEPS, BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT.
HORN SOUNDS ONLY AFTER A VERY FORCEFUL/PURPOSEFUL PUSH ON THE STEERING WHEEL HORN PAD AND THEN ONLY AFTER A MOMENTARY DELAY (I SUPPOSE AFTER "RELAYS" ARE ACTIVATED). ADDITIONALLY, THERE IS NO OPTION FOR A LIGHT, FRIENDLY "BEEP" (FOR INSTANCE TO SAY "HELLO" TO A NEIGHBOR OR AWAKEN ANOTHER DRIVER SITTING AT A LIGHT AFTER IT'S TURNED GREEN).
VEHICLE WITH APPROXIMATELY 58000 MILES WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. WHEN TURNING THE KEY TO ON, A HISSING SOUND AND A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE CAME FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE JEEP. TURNED OFF VEHICLE, AND EXITED THE CAR TO SEE A TWO FOOT WIDE PUDDLE OF GASOLINE UNDER THE CAR. . REPAIR SHOP INDICATED FAILURE OF PRESSURIZED GAS LINE COMING FROM TOP OF THE GAS TANK. IF AN IGNITION SOURCE HAD BEEN PRESENT THE CAR WOULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE. VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 14 MILES THAT DAY WITH NO ISSUES, THE FAILURE IN THE GAS LINE WAS SUDDEN AND COMPLETE.
CLOCKSPRING IS CAUSING THE AIR BAG LIGHT TO STAY ILLUMINATED. CLOCKSPRING CONTROLS TURN SIGNAL, FLASHERS, DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAGS, ETC. IF I HAVE AN ACCIDENT THE AIR BAGS MAY NOT EVEN DEPLOY. THAT IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE TO ME AND SHOULD BE FOR ALL DRIVERS.

WHEN I CRANK MY VEHICLE AND PLACE IT IN DRIVE THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS COME ON AND THE BREAKING SYSTEM BEGINS TO LOCK DOWN THE BRAKES AND CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO JERK TO A STOP. THIS IS HAPPENING WHILE I AM ON THE PUBLIC ROADWAY. THE DOWNHILL BREAKING ENGAGES WHEN ALL OF THIS IS GOING ON. SOMETIMES IT WILL CLEAR ITSELF OFF AND THE VEHICLE OPERATES NORMALLY TILL THE NEXT DAY.
I WAS ON A MAJOR CITY STREET BEHIND A SLOW MOVING VEHICLE. I MADE A MANUVER TO PASS THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AND THE CAR ACCERERATED ON IT'S OWN. I COULD ACTUALLY FEEL THE GAS PEDAL BEING PULLED DOWN (AS MY FOOT WAS STILL GENTLY ON THE PEDAL). I IMMEDIATELY LIFTED MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE CAR REACHED 36 MPH QUICKLY APPROACHING ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME WHICH NOW WAS STOPPED. I IMMEDIATLEY STEPPED ON THE BRAKES HARD. THE CAR STOPPED AND THE RED WARNING LIGHT FOR THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR LIT ON THE DASH. I AM A CAR DEALER AND AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER WITH PROFESSIONAL DRIVER TRAINING. I FEEL MOST PEOPLE WOULD HAVE EXPERIENCED AN ACCIDENT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHERE WE PUT THE MANUFACTUER DIAGNOSTIC TOOL ON THE VEHICLE. WE WERE ABLE TO DOWNLOAD THE REPORT. BLINKERS DO NO WORK. HIGH/LOW BEAM ALSO INOPERABLE. DASH LIGHTS EXTREMELY LOW, CAN BARELY SEE THEM AND WE ARE 35 YR OLD OWNERS WITH GOOD 20/25 VISION. WHEN I ASKED THEM IF THAT MEANT MY AIRBAG MAY DEPLOY AT ANY TIME SHE SAID NO QUITE THE OPPOSITE IT MEANT IT WOULD NOT DEPLOY AT ALL. I AM A MAIL CARRIER AND HAVE SPOKEN TO OTHER 2016 RHD JEEP OWNERS AND THEY HAD RECALLS TO REPAIR THEIRS BUT MINE DIDN'T MAKE THE RECALL LIST. MY JEEP IS MY LIVELIHOOD, NOW I HAVE TO WORRY THAT IF I'M INVOLVED IN A COLLISION I'M AT A MUCH HIGHER RISK FOR INJURY OR FATALITY. *TR
THE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS ARE NOTORIOUS TO GIVE OUT IN THESE VEHICLES. EVEN AT LOW MILEAGE. THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS COME ON LIMITING PERFORMANCE AND CAUSING ISSUES REQUIRING IMMEDIATE SERVICE. THEIR ARE MANY JEEP OWNERS I HAVE ENCOUNTERED WITH THIS ISSUE AND IT CAN BE EITHER LOCATION OR INAPPROPRIATE GUARD TO COVER WIRING. THIS SITS LEVEL TO THE STRIKER AND LATCH. THE PROXIMITY OF THE SEATBELT AND THE LEVEL AT THE DOOR STRIKER IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR LITTLE ONES SITTING IN BACK. I REPLACED A SINGLE ROLLER ROCKER ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE EARLY IN 2019. NOW I AM LOOKING AT A FAILED ROLLER ROCKER ON THE SAME SIDE OF THE ENGINE AND POTENTIALLY AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT.
2016 JEEP WRANGLER JKU WITH 60119 MILES AT DISCOVERY OF ISSUES BY DEALERSHIP. CHRYSLER WAS TO COVER MAINTENANCE ON BLOWN HEAD ENGINE HEAD GASKETS FOLLOWING INSPECTION. ON 23FEB20 I NOTICED EXCESSIVE VAPOR COMING OUT OF MY EXHAUST ON MY WAY HOME, I CHECKED MY COOLANT AND OIL TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY PROBLEMS FINDING LOW COOLANT LEVELS HOWEVER IT WAS STILL WITHIN NORMAL RANGE. IT WAS DETERMINED MY HEAD GASKET WAS DAMAGED AND A REPAIR WAS NECESSARY. THE DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED THE ADDITIONAL REPLACEMENT OF THE RADIATOR WHICH CHRYSLER WAS INFORMED OF GIVEN TERMS FOR COVERING THE REPAIR OF THE VEHICLE AS THE FAILURE OCCURRED RIGHT AT WARRANTY. I FOUND THE ENGINE WAS STILL HAVING A PROBLEM WITH AIR IN THE RADIATOR/COOLANT LINE AND IMMEDIATELY TOOK MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A COOLANT PURGE. DURING INSPECTION THE CHRYSLER MASTER MECHANIC NOTICED THE MAIN COOLANT FAN WAS NOT OPERATING AS EXPECTED. THE MAIN COOLANT FAN OPERATION WAS INTERMITTENT WHICH WOULD HAVE CAUSED A LONG TERM OVERHEATING AS THE ROOT CAUSE FAILURE OF THE HEAD GASKET WHICH WAS TO DETERMINED BY THE CHRYSLER FACILITY TO HAVE BEEN FAILING OVER THE LAST 10,000 MILES. CHRYSLER WAS CONTACTED AND APPROVED MAINTENANCE AS WITH THE OTHER FAILED ITEMS. I CONTACTED WORLD JEEP AGAIN AND WAS ABLE TO START MY VEHICLE AND DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR MAINTENANCE INSPECTION. DEALERSHIP FOUND GASKET INSTALLED WAS DEFECTIVE, THE HEATER CORE WAS CLOGGED UNABLE TO PROVIDE HEAT IN THE CAB AND THE ENGINE HAD A KNOCKING NOISE. CHRYSLER WAS CONTACTED TO RECOMMEND COURSE OF ACTION WHICH IS THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENGINE. CHRYSLER HAS CHANGED CASE MANAGERS 4 TIMES AND HAS BEEN DIFFICULT TO RECEIVE A RESPONSE BACK BY MYSELF OR THE JEEP DEALERSHIP. CHRYSLER IS NOW REFUSING TO COVER ANY OF THE WORK THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY AGREED TO HELP COVER AND ARE ONLY WILLING TO ASSIST WITH 50% OF THE REPAIR COSTS OF THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT.

IN THE 2 1/2 YEARS I HAVE HAD THIS ON THE ROAD I'VE REPLACED TWO ABS SENSORS, HAD IT IN THE SHOP FOR MISFIRING AND MY AC UNITS BLOWER MOTOR SEEMS TO BE FAILING. I ALSO WENT INTO SOME JEEP FORUMS AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS A VERY COMMON ISSUE DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW IN THE WAY THE DOORS SEAL AND THE WAY THE DESIGN DISPERSES WATER. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC AND HE SUGGESTED REPLACE ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL MODULES ASSOCIATED WITH BRAKES AND REPLACE THE BRAKES AND PADS SINCE THE SEIZING OF THE ABS HAS CAUSED PREMATURE WEAR OF THE BRAKES. I AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS BUT CANNOT AFFORD $1300 REPAIR ESPECIALLY IF IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER SAFETY RECALL.

ENGINE REDUCED POWER AND VEHICLE SLOWED AGAIN IN TRAFFIC. AFTER 10 SECONDS, ENGINE RETURNED TO NORMAL, DASH LIGHTS WENT OFF. VEHICLE HAS BEEN NORMAL SINCE THEN. WEATHER AT THE TIME: SUNNY, 85 DEGREES, DAYLIGHT. ROADS COMPLETELY DRY. VEHICLE DID NOT DRIVE THRU WATER, ETC. HAD BEEN DRIVING ON CITY STREETS 25-40 MPH FOR 20 MINUTES. CALLED DEALER. NO HELP ON PHONE. TOOK VEHICLE TO JEEP DEALER ON NOV 6, 2019 AND THEY FOUND CODE "C1043 PERFORMANCE" BUT SAID NOTHING MORE. TECH WRITE UP SAYS "LEFT REAR TONE WHEEL PERFORMANCE CODE HAS GONE STORED. SHAKING HAS OCCURRED ON NOVEMBER 24TH, 2019 AFTER DRIVING OVER POTHOLES/ROAD JOINTS ON THE FREEWAY; AND AGAIN, ON DECEMBER 26, 2019 ON A STRAIGHT SURFACE ON THE FREEWAY. ONE HAS TO HOLD ON TIGHT TO THE STEERING WHEEL SO AS TO KEEP FROM VEERING OUT OF CONTROL AND ONTO ANOTHER VEHICLE/ROAD SEPARATOR BECAUSE THE JEEP'S TIRES BEGIN TO SWERVE SIDE TO SIDE RAPIDLY. THE SWERVING TIRES CAUSES THE JEEP TO RATTLE AND BECOME JUMPY. THE SEVERE SHAKING ALSO FEELS AS IF A TIRE IS COMING OFF AND WILL BREAK DOWN THEN AND THERE. SLOWING ONE'S SPEED AND SLOWLY PRESSING ON THE BREAK HELPS SLOW AND EVENTUALLY STOP THE SHAKING ONCE COMPLETELY STOPPED. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE JEEP AND MUST BE EXTRA ATTENTIVE AT ALL TIMES NOW FOR FEAR OF LOSING CONTROL. THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM IS UNKNOWN.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ON THE CARPOOL LANE, GOING AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 70 MPH, I DROVE OVER A POTHOLE/ROAD IMPERFECTION AND THE JEEP BEGAN SHAKING SEVERELY TO A POINT OF ALMOST LOSING CONTROL OR CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. DURING THE SHAKING THE WHEELS SWERVE SIDE TO SIDE AND CAUSES THE JEEP TO BECOME JUMPY AND RATTLE. IN ORDER TO SAFELY STOP THE SHAKING AND NOT LOSE CONTROL I HAD TO SLOW DOWN UNTIL COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE CARPOOL LANE, I COULD NOT PULL OVER DUE TO NO SHOULDER. THE CARS BEHIND SAW THE SHAKING AND SLOWED TO KEEP A SAFE DISTANCE, HOWEVER IF THEY HADN'T IT COULD'VE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. DURING THE SHAKING I ALSO HAVE TO GRAB TIGHTLY TO THE STEERING WHEEL SO AS TO NOT VEER ON TO VEHICLES OR WALLS NEXT TO ME. I MANAGED TO GET OUT OF THE CARPOOL LANE AND MADE MY WAY TO THE FARTHEST RIGHT LANE AND DROVE NO FASTER THAN 60 MPH FOR FEAR OF THE SHAKING/LOSING CONTROL TO REOCCUR.
I WAS TRAVELING DOWN A CITY STREET AND THE PERSON COMING THE OTHER DIRECTION CROSSED THE DOUBLE YELLOW LINE. WE COLLIDED HEAD ON AND MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAD RECENTLY REPLACED THE AIRBAG DUE TO A RECALL FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THIS ACCIDENT RESULTED IN MY VEHICLE BEING TOTALED. FURTHERMORE I RECEIVED SEVERAL INJURIES INCLUDING A CONCUSSION AND WHIPLASH. THE AIRBAG DID DEPLOY ON THE KIA THAT HIT ME.

VEHICLE STALLS WHEN PUT INTO REVERSE WHEN COLD. THIS DOES NOT MEAN ONLY FIRST START OF THE DAY. WHEN TRANSMISSION FLUID IS UNDER 120 DEGREES, IT WILL STALL IN REVERSE WITH BRAKE DEPRESSED. UPON RESTART, THE STARTER WILL ENGAGE FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD EVEN AFTER THE VEHICLE STARTS, THE STARTER WILL CONTINUE TO RUN TOO LONG. WHEN THE VEHICLE RESTARTS AFTER A STALL, IT WILL IDLE ROUGH WHEN SHIFTED BACK INTO REVERSE. NO PROBLEMS IN DRIVE. STARTED AT A MILEAGE OF AROUND 35,000. VEHICLE NOW AT 58,000 AND HAS PROGRESSIVELY WORSENED.

DEALERSHIP ADVISED IT WOULD COST ADDITIONAL 100 DOLLARS TO REPAIR THE RECALL AS THE WINCH WOULD HAVE TO BE REMOVED PARTIALLY OR IN TOTAL... I TOOK MY JEEP FOR AN OIL CHANGE SERVICE. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME HE FOUND A LEAK ON THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTIONS, I DISCOVER THE ENGINE OIL COOLER HAS A LEAK. I WAS TOLD THIS ISSUE IS NOT COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY BECAUSE IS OVER THE 60K. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS A NON-ISSUE WITH THE 3.6L ENGINE NHTSA ID # 10138863. WE NEED HELP MAKING THE MANUFACTURER RESPONSIBLE FOR FAULTY PRODUCTS.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER ENTERING THE ROADWAY (RIGHT TURN) AND AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH THE BRAKES APPLIED WITHOUT WARNING OR HUMAN INTERVENTION. I INSTANTLY REMOVED FOOT FROM GAS AND LET JEEP ROLL; PUT ON EMERGENCY FLASHING LIGHTS AND TURNED (ROLLED OFF) TO PARKING LOT ONE BLOCK AWAY AND TURNED JEEP OFF. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I RESTARTED CAR AND SLOWLY DROVE THE SIX BLOCKS HOME. TOOK IT TO AUTHORIZED JEEP DEALER AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD FIND NO ERROR CODE, SAID THAT THEY TEST DROVE IT AND COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE JEEP.

THEY HAVE CALLED DEALERS AND I AM ON A WAITING LIST AT A JEEP DEALER FOR OVER TWO MONTHS. I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE ME A RENTAL CAR UNTIL PARTS ARE AVAILABLE AS THIS IS A UNSAFE VEHICLE TO DRIVE.

THIS WOULD RECTIFY ITSELF BUT THE BRAKES FELT WEAKER FOR STOPPING THIS HAPPENED OFF AND ON FOR A FEW DAYS . WE TOOK TO A LOCAL GARAGE BECAUSE IT WAS DANGEROUS PARTIALLY LOSING CONTROL. HE FOUND THE PROBLEM TO BE A COLLAPSED BRAKE LINE. WE BOUGHT THE JEEP BRAND NEW AND IT IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD WITH 39000 MILES. HE SAID THE BRAKE LINE WAS EITHER DEFECTIVE AND OR JUST A CHEAP PART. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION LOSING PARTIAL CONTROL. IT ALSO RUINED THE BRAKE PAD AND ROTOR DO TO GLAZING.

HOWEVER MINE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND FEEL IT SHOULD BE CONCERNING THE POTENTIAL SERIOUSNESS THAT COULD ARISE.

THE DEALER FURTHER STATED THAT THE ENGINE OVERHEATED AND LEAKED COOLANT AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THIS IS THE SECOND JEEP THAT THIS HAS OCCURRED ON, VERY DANGEROUS TO OCCUR WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS DOWN THE HIGHWAY
EXPERIENCE MAJOR LIFTING AND FLUTTERING OF THE HOOD AT SPEEDS AT OR OVER 65 MPH. MOST SEVERE WHEN DRIVING DOWN TWO LANE HWY AND LARGER TRUCKS LIKE SEMIS PASS ONCOMING.
WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 40 WESTBOUND OUT OF MEMPHIS, I FOUND THE WINDS WERE GUSTY BLOWING FROM THE NORTHWEST HITTING ME THE RIGHT FRONT. SUDDENLY I WAS OVERTAKEN BY A LARGE TRACTOR TRAILER AND MY HOOD STARTED FLUTTERING FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN STOPPED. THEN IT HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES, EVEN WITH NO TRUCK PASSING, JUST A GUST OF WIND. I STOPPED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE RUBBER LATCHES WERE SECURE AND THEY WERE, NOTHING WAS LOOSE AND I COULD NOT PHYSICALLY MOVE THE HOOD WHILE IT WAS STILL LATCHED. THIS BEHAVIOR HAS REPEATED ON OTHER OCCASIONS INVOLVING WIND AND HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH. I'M SURE WIND WAS CAUGHT UNDER THE HOOD AND THE PRESSURE WAS FORCING THE HOOD TO FLUTTER. THE RUBBER LATCHES DID NOT FULLY SECURE THE HOOD TO THE VEHICLE ENOUGH TO PREVENT THE FLUTTERING.
AFTER TURNING INTO A LARGE PARKING LOT FROM A CITY STREET WHILE STILL DRIVING THE 2016 JEEP WRANGLER JKU SPORT'S CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED ABRUPTLY BY THE ENGINE QUITTING AND NUMEROUS DASH LIGHTS ILLUMINATING. THE NOW DEAD VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY COASTED TO A STOP AS SMOKE STARTING BILLOWING FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE VEHICLE WAS QUICKLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THIS JEEP WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW 3 YEARS AND 3 WEEKS AGO AND HAD LESS THAN 16,000 MILES ON IT. TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE FIRE, THE BATTERY ABRUPTLY DIED AND WOULD NOT HOLD A CHARGE. AFTER A NEW TOP-OF-THE-LINE BATTERY WAS INSTALLED, THE DASH RED SECURITY LIGHT WOULD FLASH CONSTANTLY WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. JUST ONE DAY PRIOR TO THE FIRE THE JEEP WAS SERVICED AT THE DEALERSHIP TO ACCOMPLISH TWO SAFETY RECALL ITEMS RELATED TO AN AIRBAG WIRING HARNESS AND AIRBAG MODULE. THE JEEP'S WIRELESS CONTROL MODULE (WCM) WAS DIAGNOSED TO HAVE AN INTERNAL FAILURE BUT WAS NOT REPLACED AT THAT TIME DUE TO A WARRANTY DISPUTE AND ALSO AVAILABILITY OF THE MODULE. PRIOR TO THE BATTERY FAILURE, WHICH WAS JUST 1 WEEK BEYOND THE 3-YEAR WARRANTY DATE, THIS 2016 JEEP WRANGLER WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND HAD ZERO MECHANICAL OR ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY SERVICING OUTSIDE OF ROUTINE OIL CHANGES AND SERVICE CHECKS. THE FIRE STARTED QUICKLY AND BURNED EXTREMELY HOT BURNING THROUGH THE FIREWALL AND INTO THE CABIN IN A MATTER OF MINUTES. FORTUNATELY THE OCCUPANT WAS ABLE TO EGRESS WITHOUT INJURY. THIS JEEP, WITH LESS THAN 16,000 MILES, IS A TOTAL LOSS. THE HOTSPOT ON THE HOOD APPEARS TO BE AROUND THE LOCATION OF THE FUSE BOX. ATTEMPTS TO EXTINGUISH THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE WITH A PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHER WERE FUTILE.*DT *TR
MY HOOD FLUTTERS AT ANY SPEED ABOVE ROUGHLY 35MPH. IT FLUTTERS SO BAD THAT I BELIEVE THE RUBBER STRAPS ARE GOING TO BREAK WHICH WOULD CAUSE THE HOOD TO OPEN AND BLOCK THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING. IT IS 100% WORSE WHEN PASSING A TRACTOR TRAILER OR ANY TYPE OF BIGGER TRUCK.
THE JEEP WRANGLER HAS NO LOCKING HOOD LATCH, INSTEAD ONLY LATCHES ON THE OUTSIDE THAT USE A RUBBER PIECE TO SECURE IT. ME ALONG WITH 1000'S HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE LATCHES DUE TO STRETCHING THAT CAUSES HOOD FLUTTER, RESULTING IN HORRIBLE GAS MILEAGE AND SOME IT HAS EVEN DAMAGED THE HOOD IF NOT TAKEN CARE OF IMMEDIATELY. LUCKILY I REPLACED MY LATCHES BUT NOT AFTER I HAD TO PAY FOR NEW LATCHES BECAUSE OF JEEPS DEFECT
I BUCKLED MY SEATBELT AND FELT IT SLIP AS IF IT HAD COME UNBUCKLED. THE SEATBELT WAS LATCHED, BUT THE METAL BETWEEN THE LATCH AND THE SEAT FRAME HAD BROKEN IN TWO. THE ONLY THING HOLDING THE SEATBELT LATCH WAS THE WIRE AND IT'S COVERING. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN I NOTICED THE PROBLEM.*DT THE CONSUMER PROVIDED PHOTOS OF THE DEFECTED SEATBELT. *TR *TR
TAKATA RECALL. THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT INDICATED A FAULT WITH A CHIME , JUNE 2019. THE DRIVER AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING RECALL WAS PERFORMED IN OCTOBER 2016 SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE WAS A TWO YEAR WARRANTY, WHICH HAS EXPIRED.THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THE REPAIR COST IS APPROXIMATELY $1200.00. MY COMPLAINT IS THE REPLACEMENT PARTS USED IN THE RECALL ARE GIVING WARNING INDICATORS LIKE THE ORIGINAL AIRBAG PARTS. I USE THE JEEP FOR MAIL DELIVERY ON DIRT ROADS THAT ARE EXTREMELY DUSTY MOST OF THE YEAR. THIS IS THE MAIN REASON FOR THE ORIGINAL AIRBAG RECALL. "THE AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING MAY INGEST DUST IF THE VEHICLE IS SUBJECTED TO DUSTY ENVIRONMENTS, COMPROMISE AIRBAG CIRCUITS, CAUSE ILLUMINATION OF THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT". I FEEL THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND THE RECALL REPLACEMENT PARTS HAVE FAILED. I THINK THIS IS A RECALL CONCERN. I HAVE CONTACTED FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILE GROUP RECALL ASSISTANCE CENTER , THEY DID NOT HELP. I I AM PAYING FOR THE REPAIR. BUT I FEEL LIKE THE SAFELY PROBLEM STILL EXISTS, AND WHEN DUST COVERS THIS PART IT WILL MALFUNCTION.

THE SPEED SENSOR FOR THE FRONT BRAKES ON MY 2016 JEEP WRANGLER FAILED AND LED TO COSTLY REPAIRS. THE BRAKES LOCKED UP SO BAD THEY STALLED THE JEEP WHEN I LET OUT THE CLUTCH. HOOD LATCH FAILURE - TRAVELING ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY AT POSTED SPEEDS OF 75 MPH, AS AN 18 WHEELER APPROACHED/PASSED AND THE RUSH OF WIND "HIT" THE VEHICLE, BOTH EXTERIOR RUBBER HOOD LATCHES AS WELL AS THE INTERNAL METAL HOOD LATCH FAILED, CAUSING THE HOOD TO FLY UP, SLAMMING AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD, SHATTERING IT AND BENDING THE HOOD OVER THE TOP FRAME OF THE WINDSHIELD, AND THE HOOD DID NOT FALL BACK DOWN. THANKFULLY THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO CONTROL AND SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE AND GET SAFELY OFF THE ROAD, THEN HAD TO CLIMB UP TO PULL THE HOOD OFF OF THE TOP FRAME OF WINDSHIELD FRAME. THE FORCE OF THIS WAS SO GREAT IT COMPLETELY KNOCKED THE REAR VIEW MIRROR OFF OF THE WINDSHIELD.

WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AT A T-INTERSECTION, FROM A FULL STOP, ACROSS ON-COMING TRAFFIC PASSING LEFT TO RIGHT ON A TWO-LANE ROAD, I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR. JEEP BEGAN ROLLING FORWARD INTO THE INTERSECTION WHEN ANTI-LOCK BRAKES INITIATED WITHOUT ANY DEPRESSION OF BRAKE PEDAL, SLOWING ACCELERATION TO AN IDLE COAST. I DEPRESSED ACCELERATOR TO FLOOR, BUT THE ENGINE DID NOT RESPOND AND CONTINUED TO COAST THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. WE COULD FEEL THE ABS WEAKLY GRABBING AND LETTING GO, AND THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT WHEELS. THE CAUTION TONE SOUNDED AND THE JEEP DISPLAYED AN ABS CAUTION LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL CAUTION LIGHT. WE COASTED ACROSS THE INTERSECTION AND PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, VERY NARROWLY AVOIDING A SIDE-IMPACT COLLISION WITH ON-COMING TRAFFIC FROM OUR LEFT AND A REAR-IMPACT COLLISION WITH TRAFFIC COMING FROM OUR REAR. OBDII SCANNER SHOWS REAR ABS SPEED SENSOR BAD. INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS MANY SAME OR SIMILAR INCIDENTS WITH JEEPS AT APPROXIMATELY 40,000-50,000 MILES. JEEP HAS APPROXIMATELY 43,000 MILES.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP APPROX. FOUR TIMES, BECAUSE THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, FOLLOWED BY THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. THEY SAID THAT THE CABLE CONNECTION GETS LOOSE AND THEY SOLDERED IT. THIS STARTED ABOUT 20000 MILES AND IS NOW AT 57778 MILES. THIS LAST TIME ON 4-24-2019 THEY SAID THAT IT HAS STORED CODES FOR THE CAM SENSORS ON BOTH BANKS AND TORQUE REQUEST DENIED SIGNAL AND TORQUE MANAGEMENT SIGNAL PERFORMANCE. P2638, C121C, P0344, P0369. THEY SAID THAT IT HAS PCM UPDATE AND THAT THEY PERFORMED THE PCM UPDATE AGAIN AND CLEARED CODES TO SEE IF THEY WOULD COME BACK. VEHICLE DRIVEN 30 MILES AND AND ONE LARGE BUMP IN THE ROAD AND THE LIGHTS TURNED ON AGAIN. THIS HAPPENS WHILE GOING DOWN DIRT ROADS. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THE FIRST TIME THAT IT WAS TAKEN IN THAT THE CABLE IS TO SHORT AND CAUSES STRESS AND STRETCHES, CAUSING IT TO COME LOOSE. THIS TIME THEY SAID IF THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO DO MORE EXTENSIVE TESTS AND POSSIBLE REPLACE THE SENSORS AT MY EXPENSE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A REOCCURRING PROBLEM THAT ALWAYS COMES BACK. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM ON ALL WRANGLERS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURES DEFECT AND NEEDS TO RECALLED AND FIXED.

DURING A ROLLOVER CRASH WHICH INITIATED AT 40 MILES PER HOUR, THE FRONTAL AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VECHICLE ROLLED AND AN ADEQUATE AMOUNT OF FORCE TO DEPLOY THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE BEEN TRIGGERED. AS A RESULT THE OOCCUPANTS EXPERIENCE EXTENSIVE INJURIES CONSISTENT WITH SUDDEN DECELERATION.

I FIRST EXPERIENCED THE "DEATH WOBBLE" WITHIN A YEAR OR SO OF PURCHASING MY NEW 2016 JEEP WRANGLER...VERY SCARY (SEEMS TO HAPPEN ON A ROUGH SPOTS IN THE ROAD, TRAVELING AT 45 MPH OR HIGHER).THE FRONT END WAS SHAKING SO BADLY THAT I THOUGHT I HAD A FLAT TIRE, OR THAT A WHEEL HAD FALLEN OFF. IT HAS NOW HAPPENED AT LEAST 8 TIMES, AND I NO LONGER DRIVE ON ANY INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. I TOOK IT IN TO THE JEEP DEALER TO HAVE THIS CHECKED OUT ON JUNE 27, 2017 WITH 31,237 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THEY SAID THAT EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE. ALSO HAD THE TIRES ROTATED AND BALANCED TO SEE IF THAT WAS PART OF THE PROBLEM, BUT JUST WHEN YOU THINK THAT ALL IS OK, IT HAPPENS AGAIN. JEEP DEATH WOBBLE - WHILST TAKING MY SON TO SCHOOL I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, I STUCK A SMALL POTHOLE WITH MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE. THE VEHICLE FRONT END BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AS THE STEERING WHEEL OSCILLATED ABOUT 6 INCHES BACK AND FORTH. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND NEARLY COLLIDED WITH CENTER MEDIAN AND VEHICLES TO MY RIGHT. SLOWING DOWN TO ABOUT 5 MPH CAUSED THE WOBBLE TO SUBSIDE. THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY SCARY EVENT AND COULD HAVE CAUSED INJURY/DEATH OF BOTH OF US HAD I LOST CONTROL. A DASHCAM VIDEO OF THE INCIDENT CAN BE PROVIDED IF NEEDED.

I DRIVE A JEEP WRANGLER THAT HAS 70000 MILES ON IT. IT IS A 4 DOOR VEHICLE AND THE MECHANISMS FOR THE BACK DOORS NO LONGER WORK. WHILE SITTING INSIDE THE CAR, I AM UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. I DID A BIT OF RESEARCH AND IT SEEMS THAT THE MECHANISMS IN THESE DOORS FAIL OFTEN AS OTHERS REPORT THE SAME ISSUE. A 2016 VEHICLE WITH DOORS THAT DO NOT FUNCTION IS , ON MY MIND, A SAFETY ISSUE. CHRYSLER REFUSES TO LOOK INTO THE MATTER OR HELP IN ANYWAY BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE. I HOPE NO ONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR DIES BECAUSE THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN ON ONE OF THESE CARS.

VEHICLE NOTIFIED IT HAD A FAULT IN THE ABS/ESC SYSTEM VIA THE YELLOW WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATING ON THE DASH. OCCURRED AFTER STARTING THE CAR AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT. VEHICLE DROVE NORMALLY AT FIRST AND ASSUMED THIS INDICATED THE SYSTEMS HAD A FAULT AND WERE THUS DISABLED. HOWEVER, VEHICLE STARTED TO LOSE POWER, STUMBLE, AND NOT ACCELERATE WHEN MOVING FROM DEAD STOP. INCLUDING STOP LIGHTS, STOP SIGNS, CROSSING DIVIDED HIGHWAYS AND INTERSECTIONS--TURNING AND STRAIGHT TRAVEL. PAVEMENT CONDITIONS WERE DRY/LEVEL, NO WHEEL SPIN OCCURRED. 3 OCCASIONS OVER 2 DAYS RESULTED IN NEAR ACCIDENTS. ONCE AFTER TURNING RIGHT FROM A STOP SIGN, ACCELERATING THROUGH FIRST GEAR AND REAR BRAKES BEGIN TO CYCLE WHILE POWER IS CUT FROM ENGINE. CAR BEHIND HAD TO SWERVE AROUND SO AS NOT TO COLLIDE. NO WARNING OR INDICATION THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN. NEXT EVENT WAS CROSSING 2 LANE DIVIDED HIGHWAY FROM CENTER TURN LANE. AGAIN SUDDEN AND UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER AND BRAKING AUTOMATICALLY APPLIED TO REAR WHEELS. LESSER EVENTS HAVE OCCURRED AS WELL. VEHICLE THINKS IT NEEDS TO ENGAGE THE ESC SYSTEM. I ARGUE THAT THE ESC SYSTEM SHOULD GO INACTIVE WHEN A FAULT IS DETECTED, NOT CUT POWER AND AUTO APPLY BRAKES DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. THIS IS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE UPDATED (QUALITY OF THE COMPONENTS NOT WITHSTANDING). THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AS THE CAR IS UN-DRIVEABLE, EVEN TO DEALER FOR REPAIR. MOREOVER, EVEN AFTER REPAIR THE FAULT STILL "LIVES" WITHIN THE CAR SHOULD IT HAVE A SIMILAR COMPONENT FAIL IN THE SYSTEM. CONTACTED DEALER TO ARRANGE REPAIR, VEHICLE HAS 40,600 MILES (NEVER OFF ROAD). DEALER STATED IT IS LIKELY A REAR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR, COMMON FAILURE, NOT UNDER WARRANTY, AND CONFIRMED THAT THIS WAS COMMON BEHAVIOR FOR THIS TYPE FAILURE. CONTACTED FCA ON ISSUE AND LOGGED CASE, CLAIM THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS, COULD NOT EXPLAIN.
TWO MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED MY JEEP I HAD AN ISSUE WITH REAR SEATBELT GETTING STUCK AND NOTICED A SLIGHT TEAR IN FABRIC. RECENTLY, WHEN I WENT TO GET CAR INSPECTED THAT THE TEAR WAS BIGGER AND THE CAR FAILED MASSACHUSETTS INSPECTION. SO, I PAID $400 TO REPLACE ENTIRE SEAT BELT (MY HUSBAND THOUGHT THE DOG HAD CHEWED), NOT REALIZING THE DEFECT HAD OCCURRED LONG BEFORE WE HAD GOTTEN THE PUPPY. THE WORK WAS DONE AT OHARA IN FALMOUTH. WAIT FOR PARTS WAS ABSURD. CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE. NOT EVEN A MONTH AFTER THE WORK WAS COMPLETED AND THE SEATBELT TORN AGAIN.! AT THIS POINT, I INSPECTED ALL MY SEATBELTS AND NOTICES THAT BOTH REAR SEATBELTS (NOT THE MIDDLE) AND THE FRONT PASSENGER BELT ALL HAVE THE SAME EXACT TEAR TIGHT WHERE THE BUCKLE FALLS ON THE BELT. I WOULD LOVE TO BLAME THE DO, BUT THE DOG HAS NOT BEEN ALLOWED IN THE VEHICLE SINCE THE REPAIR. JEEP/CHRYSLER DOES NOT SEEMS TO BELIEVE THAT THIS A PRODUCT QUALITY DEFECT OR A MANUFACTURER ISSUE. THEY ALSO HAVE NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THE SEATBELTS ARE TEARING AND CLAIM THAT IT MUST BE SOMETHING THAT I AM DOING WITH THE VEHICLE. CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT I HAVE ONLY HAD 4 PASSENGERS RIDE IN MY BACKSEAT SINCE THE REPAIRS , I AM BAFFLED. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. I WOULD THINK SEATBELTS SHOULD BE FAIRLY DURABLE, BUT THESE ARE NOT. I AM DISGUSTED AT CHRYSLER'S RESPONSE AND AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THESE BELTS. I CANNOT SPEND $1200 TO REPLACE BELTS THAT MAY ONLY LAST A MONTH! I HAVE ATTACHED PICS THIS DEFECT. EATBELTS AND I HAVE WASTED OVER $400(PLUS$35 FOR A REJECTION STICKER) ON A REPAIR THAT DID NOT FIX THE DEFECT IN THE SEAT BELT. DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN NO HELP. SINCE I HAVE HAD THE CHEMICAL, THE CRUDE CONTROL WILL WORK RITE ALONG FOR A FEW WEEKS, THEN ONE DAY IT WON'T TURN ON AND I WILL HAVE TO PUSH THE BUTTON OVER 20 TIMES TO GET IT TO WORK. THE CHEMICAL WAS IN MOTION WHILE TRYING TO DO THIS ON THE HIGHWAY. ALSO RECENTLY THE STERIO WILL NO LONGER CONNECT TO BLUETOOTH. BLUETOOTH WILL NOT WORK WILL DRIVING OR STATIONARY.
WHILE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS AT APPROXIMATELY 5-10 MILES AN HOUR ON A CITY STREET THE SHIFT LEVER (PART OF THE MANUAL NSG370 TRANSMISSION) DISLOCATED FROM THE SHIFTER MECHANISM. THE SHIFT LEVER (P/N 52060064AG ) WAS ALLOWED AN UNSAFE AMOUNT OF PLAY AND WAS ABLE TO TURN SEVERAL DEGREES IN BOTH CLOCK AND COUNTER CLOCK WISE DIRECTIONS. THIS PREVENTED ACCESS TO SOME GEARS WHILE DRIVING. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS NOTED THAT THE RUBBER BUSHING WITHIN THE METAL CYLINDER HOUSING OF THE SHIFT LEVER WAS CRACKED AND NO LONGER PROVIDED ADEQUATE TENSION TO HOLD THE SHIFT LEVER IN PLACE. AS A TEMPORARY FIX, I REMOVED THE SHIFT LEVER FROM THE SHIFTER MECHANISM AND WRAPPED A SINGLE STRIP OF DUCT TAPE AROUND THE RUBBER BUSHING. AFTER REINSTALLING THE SHIFT LEVER THERE WAS ENOUGH TENSION FOR ME TO ENGAGE EVERY GEAR WITHOUT ANY NOTABLE PLAY.
TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMING ON WHILE DRIVING 40+ MPH AND VEHICLE SEEMS TO ALMOST STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING. HAVE TAKEN TO DEALER AND THEY SAY THEY CANNOT FIND AN ISSUE. TAKING BACK TO DEALER AGAIN FOR RE-EVALUATION.
MY WIFE NOTICED 'HOOD FLUTTER' ON OUR JEEP RIGHT AFTER WE BOUGHT IN AND IMMEDIATELY FOUND THE 'RUGGED RIDGE HOOD CATCHES' ON AMAZON, ORDERED THEM (AT A COST OF $113.99 + TAX TO US) AND HAD ME INSTALL THEM, BEFORE WE LEFT LAS VEGAS FOR WISCONSIN TO RETURN HOME. WE WERE GOING ABOUT 75MPH TRAVELING FROM COLORADO SPRINGS TO LAS VEGAS, NV, ON I-25 AND I-40, AND EVEN THOUGH SHE IS LEGALLY BLIND SHE COULD SEE THE HOOD BOUNCING AROUND. IT SEEMED WORSE WHEN TRAVELING INTO A HEADWIND, BUT WAS STILL NOTICEABLE WITH A CROSSWIND. THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE THE RUBBER LATCHES THAT ARE USED TO HOLD THE JEEPS HOOD DOWN WERE STRETCHING ALLOWING THE HOOD TO MOVE ON OUR 2 DAY OLD JEEP.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ON, BUT NO CURRENT RECALLS
VEHICLE HAS DEVELOPED A RATTLE IN THE CLUTCH/TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY. SEARCHES FOR OTHER PEOPLE AFFECTED BY THIS YIELD NUMEROUS REPORTS OF CLUTCH THROW OUT BEARING FAILURES. IT AFFECTS SHIFTING AND CLUTCH ENGAGEMENT NEGATIVELY. MAKES IT HARD TO POSITIVELY ENGAGE SHIFTS AT SPEED. MINE HAS NOT YET FAILED BUT THE DEALERSHIP AND JEEP HAVE BOTH BEEN VERY RESISTANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE A SAFETY ISSUE THAT CLEARLY AFFECTS NUMEROUS MANUAL TRANSMISSION WRANGLERS DATING BACK TO ~2008. A PERSONAL ACQUAINTANCE ALSO HAD A CLUTCH THROW OUT BEARING FAIL ON THE HIGHWAY (SAME MAKE MODEL AND YEAR VEHICLE). HE IS CURRENTLY PURSUING REPLACEMENT OF VEHICLE AFTER MASSIVE DAMAGE DONE FROM THROW OUT BEARING FAILURE. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT MY VEHICLE HAD ALREADY HAD THE SHIFTER REPLACED (RECALL FAILURE). RESEARCHING ON LINE THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND BETTER GLASS SHOULD BE INSTALLED.

NOW THAT YOU ARE SENDING OUT THE NOTICES FOR A YEAR, MY WIFE IS CONCERNED THAT IF SHE WERE TO BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, THE AIR BAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY AS DESIGNED. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE ENGINE JUST DIED. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND WHEN I PUT IT IN GEAR IT ACTED AS IF IT WERE IN NEUTRAL. I ALSO HAVE HAD RANDOM MISFIRE CODES AND CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CODES. SOMETIMES THE CODES CLEAR ON THEIR OWN AND I HAVE HAD TO RESET THE CODES WITH A TUNER. I SPOKE TO THE DEALER AND IT WILL BE AROUND A WEEK BEFORE THEY CAN LOOK AT IT, EVEN IN LIGHT OF THE DANGER FOR AN ENGINE JUST DYING.
AROUND 8:00 PM ON 9 NOV 2017 I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY GOING APPROXIMATELY 60 - 65 MPH IN THE FAR LEFT LANE WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS NEARLY AT MY INTENDED DESTINATION SO I CONTINUED THEN PARKED AT MY DESTINATION. I EASED OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND IT SEEMED TO STABILIZE, THEN AS APPLIED THE ACCELERATOR AGAIN, SAME THING, VEHICLE HESITATED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I TURNED RIGHT, OFF THE ROADWAY, ONTO A SIDE STREET AT WHICH TIME THE "ESC" AND "ABS" LIGHTS EXTINGUISHED AND THE NORMAL OPERATION RETURNED. THE ENTIRE SCENARIO OCCURRED TWO MORE TIMES DURING THE NEXT 3 MILES OF CITY STOP AND GO DRIVING, AFTER WHICH THE "ESC" AND "ABS" LIGHTS REMAINED ON STEADY AND THE VEHICLE NO LONGER HAD ACCELERATION ISSUES. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME SAFELY WITH THE "ESC" AND "ABS" ILLUMINATED STEADILY. WHILE TRANSPORTING MY DAUGHTER FROM A DR. APPOINTMENT THE JEEP CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE TRAVELING ON AVIATION PARKWAY IN RALEIGH, NC ON 9/8/2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 10:45AM. THE JEEP SUDDENLY HAD SMOKE COMING INTO THE MAIN CABIN FROM THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE UNDER THE GLOVE BOX AREA. APPLYING THE BREAK TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOES NOT SEEM TO HELP AS THE VEHICLE WILL BEGIN TO ACCELERATE BACK UP TO DRIVING SPEED ONCE THE BRAKE PEDAL IS RELEASED (ALMOST LIKE WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL RENEGADES. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKE TO THE JEEP DEALER WHERE'RE THEY RESET THE CODE SEVERAL TIMES AND RELEARNED THE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR WITH A FIRMWARE REBOOT. THIS HAS NOT FIXED THE ISSUE AND JEEP IS NOT ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE. THIS PROBLEM CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AS THE VEHICLE HAS SUDDENLY ACCELERATED UP TO 30-35 MPH WHEN TURNING INTO PARKING LOTS OR AWAY FROM STOP SIGNS. THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN IN PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE.

GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY I REACHED THE SPEED LIMIT AND MERGED INTO THE RIGHT LANE, WHEN I EASED OFF THE THROTTLE I NOTICED THAT THE THROTTLE PHYSICALLY STAYED IN PLACE AND THE VEHICLE KEPT ACCELERATING. I THROUGH THE JEEP IN NEUTRAL (ITS AN AUTOMATIC) AND SLAMMED THE THROTTLE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES WITH MY FOOT AND IT RELEASED AND RETURNED TO IDLE POSITION. AFTERWARDS I PLACE THE GEAR IN DRIVE AND REGAINED CONTROL. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP IN HARRISONBURG SAID THE FLOOR MATS ARE AFTERMARKET AND WERE THE CAUSE. ALTHOUGH THE CUTAWAY IS CLEAR. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, ALTHOUGH OTHER I HAVE READ HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. IT WAS TERRIFYING AS THE JEEP WENT UP TO 80 MPH IN A 60 MPH ZONE BEFORE I ARRESTED THE SITUATION.

JEEP LEAKS EVERYTIME IT RAINS. LEAKS ON BOTH SIDES BUT PASSENGER SIDE IS THE WORSE. SOAKS THE FLOORS AND PASSENGER SIDE SEAT. DRIPS OUT FROM UNDER THE DASH AS WELL ON PASSENGER SIDE. WATER CAN CAUSE ELECTRICAL ISSUES UNDER THE DASH, MOISTURE IN FLOOR AND SEAT CAUSE THE WINDOWS TO FOG UP AT TIMES WHICH MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT OF, AND PRESENCE OF A MILDEW SMELL WILL EVENTUALLY TURN INTO MOLD. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN SHOP MANY TIMES AND STILL NOT REPAIRED.

OUR 2 WEEK OLD 2016 JEEP WRANGLER WILLYS WAS IN A SOLO COLLISION IN JULY 2016. MY PARTNER HIT WATER, HYDROPLANED, AND THEN HIT A GUARDRAIL WITH THE FRONT END AT 50+ MPH ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY. SHE WENT AIRBORNE, FLIPPED SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE SEATS CAME OUT AND ROLL BARS FAILED, BUT THE AIRBAGS ALSO NEVER WENT OFF DESPITE THE INITIAL IMPACT. WE DO NOT KNOW IF SHE WAS WEARING HER SEATBELT. SHE SUFFERED A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY, COLLAPSED LUNG, SHATTERED PELVIS, BROKEN BACK, BROKEN HIP, BROKEN EYE SOCKET, COMPOUND FRACTURE OF HER ANKLE, BROKEN TAILBONE, MULTIPLE DEEP LACERATIONS AND WAS IN ICU FOR WEEKS. MY 2016 MANUAL JEEP RUBICON UNLIMITED (APPROX 14K MILES) DROVE/SHIFTED FINE ON MY WAY TO WORK (ABOUT 3 MILES, VERY LIGHT TRAFFIC) LAST NIGHT, BUT WHEN I GOT BACK IN THE JEEP TO HEAD HOME, THE STICK-SHIFT WAS ALL CADDY WOMPUS AND I STRUGGLED TO GET IT INTO GEAR TO BACK OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE. IT FELT LIKE IT HAD TWISTED SIDEWAYS AND FALLEN DOWN. TO GET IT INTO 1ST GEAR, I HAD TO SHOVE IT FAR TO THE LEFT TOWARD THE STEERING WHEEL, AND FOR 2ND GEAR, I HAD TO PRACTICALLY JAM THE SHIFTER INTO MY LEG. FINDING NEUTRAL AND REVERSE WAS TRICKY--THE WHOLE SHIFTER MECHANISM FELT LIKE BROKEN BONES AND MUSH. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT HOME (THANKFULLY A SHORT DRIVE ON BACK ROADS WHERE I COULD GO SLOW AND THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC) BUT WAS BAFFLED BY HOW IT WAS FINE EARLIER, THEN SUDDENLY JUNK. THANKFULLY I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY OR ON A TRIP SOMEWHERE WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE JEEP. A TOW TRUCK PICKED IT UP THIS MORNING AT OUR HOME BECAUSE DRIVING IT 16 MILES TO THE DEALER IN THE CITY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC (NOT KNOWING IF SHIFTING WOULD BE AN OPTION) SEEMED VERY DANGEROUS. THE REP AT THE JEEP DEALER SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE, HOWEVER I DISCOVERED MANY PEOPLE ON WRANGLERFORUM.COM HAVE REPORTED THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. WITHOUT HEARING BACK FROM THE DEALER YET TO VERIFY, IT APPEARS TO BE THE 52060064AG LEVER GEARSHIFT / BUSHING THAT HAS MALFUNCTIONED/BROKEN. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT MY FIRST EVER AMERICAN MADE VEHICLE FEELS LIKE CHEAP JUNK. FEELS LOOSE WHEN SHIFTING AND INTERFERES WITH PUT JEEP INTO GEAR. UNABLE TO DRIVE VEHICLE UNTIL IT GETS FIXED. IS COVERED UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRENTY. ONLY HAD THE JEEP FOR 6 MONTHS.
I HAVE AN AUTOMATIC JEEP RUBICON 2016 UNLIMITED. IT DIED DURING MOTION AFTER SHIFTING TO REVERSE FROM DRIVE. I WAS DOING A SHARP TURN WHERE I NEEDED TO GO BACK IMMEDIATELY AND JUST WHEN I SHIFT REVERSE (DURING PRESSING THE BRAKES LIKE NORMALLY EVERYBODY DOES) IT SHUT DOWN. THEN, I PUT IN PARK AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND IT DIDN'T RECOGNIZE THE REVERSE (IDLING BUT NOT MOVING). I HAD TO PUT IT OFF (AFTER SHIFTING TO PARK) AND START IT AGAIN. AT THE SECOND TIME IT RECOGNIZED REVERSE AND WORKED FINE FOR NOW. NO CODES DURING THE INCIDENT. MY CASE IS SIMILAR TO THE COMPLAINT: NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10850113.

THE TRACTION CONTROL SUDDENLY KICKED ON AND APPLIED THE BRAKES ONLY ON ONE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND TRIED TO PULL ME INTO THE CAR IN THE NEXT LANE TO MY RIGHT. DEALER COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG.
WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION'S SHIFT LEVER BECAME LOOSE MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR. THE LEVER WOULD ROTATE 360 DEGREES AROUND ITS CENTER AND EVENTUALLY COME COMPLETELY OFF OF ITS MOUNT. WHEN ROTATED, THE OFFSET IN THE SHIFT LEVER BEING AT A NEW ANGLE WOULD LEAD TO SHIFTING BEING OBSTRUCTED BY THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER'S LEGS AND SEATS. AFTER COMING OFF OF ITS MOUNT WHILE STATIONARY GEAR SELECTION BECAME IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT REPAIR. DEALER WOULD EVENTUALLY COMPLETE A REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY. I RENTED A JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED THROUGH ALAMO IN PUERTO RICO FOR 2 WEEKS. ON 5 OCCASIONS WHILE MY FOOT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE WITH FORCE, THE CAR SURGED FORWARD. MY FOOT WAS ONLY ON THE BRAKE. IN EACH INSTANCE, I WAS FORCED TO THROW THE CAR INTO PARK TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM SURGING FORWARD. THIS CREATED A DANGEROUS CONDITION IN 3 INSTANCES, 2 WHERE I MIGHT HAVE HIT LARGER VEHICLES (ONE A FORESTRY TRUCK, ANOTHER A LARGE BOX TRUCK) ON NARROW MOUNTAIN ROADS, 1 WHERE I WAS AT THE EDGE OF PARKING PAD THAT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN THE JEEP GOING DOWN A STEEP MOUNTAIN RAVINE.

TRACTION WAS INTERMITTENT, BUT WOULD TURN OFF WHEN RESTARTED. NEXT DAY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION CAME ON AND TWICE WHILE MOVING THE ENGINE DIED. I LOST TOTAL CONTROL OF VEHICLE, BUT WAS GOING SLOW AT THE TIME. ONCE ON A CURVE AND THE OTHER TIME WHILE TURNING. SECOND TIME WAS TOWARD A DEEP DITCH, BUT STOPPED SHORT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. QUALITY MOTORS TRIED TO FIX ONCE. WILL TAKE BACK TOMORROW WHEN THEY COULD FIT IT IN.

THE VEHICLE WAS SHAKING AND THE ENGINE WAS MAKING LOUD GRINDING NOISES. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THEY STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. TWO WEEKS LATER, AS BEFORE, THE ENGINE BECAME LOUD, THE RPM WENT TO 5,000 AND FOR THE SECOND TIME, THE NUMBER 1 SURROUNDED BY A SQUARE LIT UP ON THE DASH BOARD AFTER THE LETTER D. MY SON CAME HOME FROM SCHOOL TO GET HIS WALLET TO GO FILL UP HIS JEEP WHEN HE CAME OUT BACK OUTSIDE THE FRONT OF HIS JEEP WAS SMOKING, WHEN HE OPENED THE HOOD HE FOUND THE RADIATOR FAN ON FIRE.
