Water ingress manufacturing defect caused major electrical failures, including all central console components & mold/mildew growth due to inconspicuous 1st leak. Official Land Rover dealership replaced windshield in 2019 under warranty based on TSB N221. Another leak occurred in 2020 during pandemic, but no repairs completed. The last water leak in 5/2021 resulted in water visibly dripping onto interior surfaces by windshield. Water shorted more components -- unable to start car without emergency maneuver in manual, couldn't lock or unlock, use windshield wipers, all due to electrical system failure from water damage stemming from manufacturing defect. Extremely concerned the next leak could damage airbag functionality, steering, headlights, or any number of components reliant on electrical connectivity. Car has been at dealership service center since 6/23/21. LR stating it's "wear and tear"...refusing to cover repair under CPO warranty (ending in 5/30/22) or acknowledge poor workmanship leading to defect, though they state a new windshield is necessary. This is a very common problem with specific Land Rover vehicles...evidenced by countless experiences from owners in forums and complaint boards. I'm too scared to drive the car, as another water ingress issue could again lead to numerous hazards as a result of sudden electrical failures or visibility loss.
During a rain, the windshield started leaking on the passenger side. The water obscured visibility on the entire passenger side, and it was like a waterfall in the car. This was a dangerous situation; the visibility is already poor in the rain without additional help from the leaking windshield. There was a recall on the windshield (N221NAS2), this was already performed, yet it's leaking 2 years later. Unfortunately, the manufacture refuses to honor that the recall failed, and I have to pay $2000 out of pocket for the repair. When I checked online, I realized this is a prevalent problem with a lot of owners. Obscured visibility during rain is a serious issue and can use fatal accidents (I read many stores of owners who had near-miss accidents due to this); that is why I decided to report this problem.
I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FILL THE GAS TANK COMPLETELY, AND THE PUMP SHUTS OFF MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THE REFUEL PROCESS EVERY TIME I PUMP GAS. I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT ANGLES, DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS, TRIED TO REFUEL SLOWLY BUT IT STOPS MULTIPLE TIMES.
The contact owns a 2016 Land Rover Range Rover. The contact stated that the vehicle's doors fail to lock when activated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who informed them that their failure was related to many recalls for the year/make/model relating to the door locks. The contact was unable to identify the exact recall however, the VIN was not included in any recalls. The vehicle had not been repaired as of yet. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed the VIN was not included in any recalls. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000.

TILD ME TO BRING IT IN. NEVER TOLD ME IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. CHARGED ME 408.00 FOR A RIDICULOUS DIAGNOSTIC CHECK, TOLD ME MY BRAKES AND TIRES NEEDED REPLACEMENT WHICH I KNEW I TOLD THEM BEFORE HAND. THE FINAL SENTENCE IN THE VIDEO SAYS THERE IS A LEAK COMING FROMVTHE WINDSHIELD SOMEWHERE BUT CANNOT REPAIR IT. NOW, ITS RAINING IN NYC SND MY CAR IS SOAKED. THIS IS ANOTHER COMPLAINT I READ ON HERE, SAME YEAR, MODEL AND MILEAGE, SAME LEAK PLUS MY WIPERS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE NEVER CLEAN THE WINDSHIELD PROPERLY. ALWAYS MY OWN MECHANIC SAID HE WILL LOOK AT IT AND ADVISE ME. THATS WHAT LAND ROBER OF PARAMUS, NJ SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME FOR NO CHARGE!!! DURING A TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR MY CAR BEGAN LEAKING WHILE PARKED ON THE STREET. THE LEAKING SUBSIDED ONCE THE RAIN STOPPED. THE HEADLINER AND MY HEATED SEATS BOTH GOT WET DUE TO THIS ISSUE. WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALER IN REGARD TO THIS ISSUE I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND I WOULD NEED TO FILE A CLAIM THROUGH MY INSURANCE OR PAY OUT OF POCKET. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THE WINDSHIELD HAS NEVER BEEN REPLACED AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE AS I PREVIOUSLY KEPT MY CAR IN A GARAGE.
FRONT BUMPER IS CRACKING AND SLOWLY BREAKING OFF AT THE FENDER. LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND IT IS VERY COMMON AND IS A DESIGN FLAW. I BELIEVE IT IS DUE TO THE HEAT THE LIGHT GIVES OFF. MY WARRANTY DECLINED THE CLAIM DUE TO BULLETIN ISSUED CLAIMING THAT THERE IS A RECALL. I AM THANKFUL THAT NO ACCIDENT HAPPENED TO ME AND MY FAMILY, BUT NOW I AM FACING A BILL OF $3792.54 FROM A FAULTY TRANSMISSION.. RANGE ROVER CORP TOLD ME THAT THIS CAR WAS ALSO BEEN REPAIRED AT ANOTHER RANGE ROVER IN LIVERMORE FOR THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE THAT WAS REPAIRED SO MANY TIMES, IF THERE WERE A RECALL THEN THOSE SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED. THE FRUSTRATION OF PAYING AN EXPENSIVE CAR PLUS PAYING THE REPAIR THAT WAS NOT MY FAULT IS UNFAIR AND STILL NOT AT 100% OF THE CAR'S RELIABILITY THAT IS STILL LINGERING IN MY HEAD. I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT WITH MY CAR IN DRIVE AND FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHEN THE DASHBOARD STARTED ALERTING ME THAT I WAS IN THE WRONG GEAR. I LOOKED DOWN AT THE SHIFT NOB AND THE D WAS FLASHING ON AND OFF AS WELL AS IN THE DASHBOARD. I PUT IT IN PARK AND BACK TO DRIVE AND THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I PRESSED THE GAS. INSTEAD OF GOING FORWARD THE CARS WENT BACKWARDS WHILE IN THE DRIVE GEAR. I ALMOST HIT THE CAR BEHIND ME AND ALMOST GOT HIT WITH ALL OF THE CARS COMING FULL FORCE SINCE THE LIGHT WAS GREEN. I WAS IN THE DRIVE GEAR AND COULDN'T GO FOWARD THE CAR KEPT GOING BACKWARDS. IT WAS REALLY SCARRY AND YOUR CAR SHOULD NOT GO IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF WHAT YOU ARE SELECTING IN YOUR GEAR. A GAS SMELL PRESENTED ON PASSENGER SIDE, IN FRONT. THEN THE GAS SMELL CAME THROUGH THE AIR CONDITIONER WITHIN THE VEHICLE. SERVICE CENTER HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL INJECTOR SEALS. GAS SMELL CONTINUES ON EXTERIOR. SERVICE CENTER FROM A PROBLEM WITH THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL SENSOR. THE FUEL SENSOR IS ON BACK ORDER ALL OVER THE US. EXTERIOR SMELL STARTED AROUND TWO MONTHS AGO, INTERNAL SMELL TWO WEEKS AGO. SEALS WERE REPLACED 10/16/19, SECOND CHECK FOUND BAD SENSOR ON 10/23/19.
WHILE DRIVING DOOR THE HIGHWAY MY DRIVERS SIDE PASSENGER DOOR CAME OPEN WITH MY DAUGHTER IN LAW IN THE REAR SEAT AS WELL AS MY 6 MONTH OLD GRANDAUGHTER. WHEN THIS HAPPEN..THE SCREAMING AND HOLLERING FROM THE BACK SEAT CAUSED MY, THE DRIVER, TO SLAM ON BRAKES AND PULL TO THE SHOULDER HITTING A SAFETY GUARD RAIL AND DAMAGING MY REAR BUMPER. FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS THIS VEHICLE HAS PUT ITSELF IN NEUTRAL WHILE UNDER POWER. ON EVERY OCCASION IT WAS WHILE DECELERATING AND THEN WHEN FOOT IS LET OFF THE BRAKE THE CAR WILL HAVE NO POWER. THE D FOR DRIVE ON THE DASH WILL FLASH WITH A RING AROUND IT AND I WILL BE STUCK ON THE ROAD FOR THE LONGEST OF A MINUTE NOW WITH ZERO POWER. FIRST TIMES WERE ON LOCAL STREETS , AND ONE OF THE LAST TIMES IT HAPPENED WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE MIDDLE LANE. THE PROBLEM HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE HOWEVER. NOW THE CAR WHILE MOVING IF YOU APPLY THE BRAKE TO A STOP IT WILL COMPLETELY SHUT THE CAR OFF AND PUT ITSELF IN PARK. THIS IS NOT THE AUTO START FEATURE. I LET OFF THE BRAKE THE SHIFT KNOB TURNED ITSELF TO PARK AND THEN RECESSED ITSELF IN THE CONSOLE AND WOULDN'T TURN BACK ON UNTIL AFTER 3 ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. ALSO ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE. ON INITIAL START THE RANGE ROVER WILL NOT DEPLOY THE REAR VIEW MIRRORS, THEY STAY FOLDED IN UNTIL YOU TURN OFF AND TURN ON THE CAR REPEATABLE. AT A STOP WHILE CAR IS RUNNING THE REAR TAILGATE WILL OPEN. THIS HAPPENED RIGHT IN THE DEALERSHIP PARKING LOT AFTER I PICKED IT UP FOR "SERVICE" AND THEN DOWN THE STREET AT A GAS STATION IT OPENED ITSELF 3 TIMES IN THE COURSE OF 10 MINUETS. ON EVERY SINGLE OCCASION THE CAR HAS BEEN RETURNED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND EVEN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. EVERY SINGLE TIME THE CAR HAS BEEN RETURNED WHILE WE WERE TOLD NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. YET THE PROBLEM STILL HAPPENS. VERY UNSAFE, ESPECIALLY WHILE GOING FROM 60MPH TO NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE, THEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. AT THIS TIME I WILL NOT NAME THE DEALERSHIP ASSOCIATE WITH SUCH HORRIBLE HELP AS THERE IS A ONGOING INVESTIGATION.
THERE NEEDS TO BE A FIRMWARE UPDATE TO THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT LOGIC OR AT THE VERY LEAST IF A DOOR IS SENSED AS OPEN AUTOMATICALLY PLACE VEHICLE IN PARK. BACKSTORY....I'VE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 2+ YEARS AND HAVE MISTAKENLY PLACED THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE (VIA THE DODGE RAM STYLE PRNDL SELECTOR). WHEN THIS HAPPENS I USUALLY CATCH IT BEFORE I EXIT THE VEHICLE. ADMITTEDLY IT HAS HAPPENED AND I'VE ALMOST BEEN RUN OVER BY MY OWN CAR. THIS IS A HUGELY DANGEROUS ISSUE.
TAILGATE SENSOR MALFUNCTION CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO HONK WHEN THE SURFACE OF THE STREET IS WET AND REFLECTIVE. THIS CAN HAPPEN AT STOP-LIGHT, ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN STOPPED AND EVEN PARKING (STATIONARY). IT DOES NOT HONK WHEN MOVING BUT CAUSING HAZARD AS OTHER DRIVER THINK THERE IS SOMETHING TO BE CAREFUL ABOUT. DEALERSHIP/MANUFACTURER TRY TO RESOLVE IT BUT WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL WITH NO LONG TERM FIX ON THE HORIZON.
TAKATA RECALL --- THE AIR BAGS IN OUR VEHICLE DID NOT DEPLOY. NONE OF THEM. ACCIDENT HAPPENED ON TUESDAY OCTOBER 23 2018. DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON AN AVENUE. OTHER VEHICLE WENT THROUGH STOP SIGN AND STRUCK FRONT LEFT FENDER OF RANGE ROVER. RANGE ROVER VEERED RIGHT AND STRUCK A POLE. NOTHING DEPLOYED. BOTH HER LEGS HIT INTO THE DASHBOARD AND SHE ALSO HAS BRUISES FROM SEAT BELT ACROSS HER CHEST. BOTH KNEES WERE INJURED AND CHEST AS WELL.
AFTER A COLD START, WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC OR STOPPING TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT THE AUTOMOBILE STALLS AFTER STARTING TO ACCELERATE CAUSING A SERVE PANIC TO THE DRIVER ESPECIALLY IN TRAFFIC. AUTOMOBILE HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP TO BE FIXED A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES IN THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP. PURCHASED NEW IN MARCH OF 2017, FIRST REPORTED PROBLEM IN AUGUST OF 2017, LAST SUBMISSION FOR REPAIR WAS MARCH 14 OF 2018 AND THE AUTOMOBILE IS JUST NOW (JUNE 21) REPORTED AS REPAIRED BY LAND ROVER AND THE DEALERSHIP.
AFTER DRIVING ALL DAY ON SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 3 2017. IT CUT OFF WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO DROP MY FRIEND DAUGHTER AT HER HOUSE. I TURN IT OFF THE ENGINE THEN START MY TRUCK AGAIN BUT WOULDN'T COME OUT OFF PARK. I CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND MY TRUCK WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. TWO DAYS LATER THE MECHANIC CALLED ME AND I WAS TOLD HE HAS TO REPLACE A PART AND IT WAS A ELECTRIC SHORTAGE. MY TRUCK IS ONLY A YEAR OLD AND IT WAS VERY SCARY AND NOT DEPENDABLE VEHICLE.

WHEN THE CAR IS ON A DOWNWARD BACKWARD SLOPE FACING UPHILL IT WILL ROLL BACKWARDS. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT LAND ROVER CHANGED THE SOFTWARE IN THE 2016 VEHICLE WHICH RESULTS IN THIS ISSUE. THIS ISSUE MAKES THE CAR INHERENTLY UNSAFE IN THESE SITUATIONS. JAGUAR/LAND ROVER DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THIS TO BE A FAULT BECAUSE IT WAS A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND IS, THEREFORE, PART OF THE OPERATION OF THIS MODEL.
MY VEHICLE HAS BRAKES THAT CATCH SO HARD WHEN YOU PRESS THE PEDAL LIGHTLY THAT THE FRONT END OF THE CAR DIPS DOWN. I WAS EXITING AN OFFRAMP AND THE CAR SLID SIDEWAYS AND I WAS NEAR HAVING A COLLISION. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR THIS NUMEROUS TIMES. NEIL AT LAND ROVER OF SAN DIEGO TODAY TOLD ME THAT HE DID NOTICE IT WHEN WE DROVE DIFFERENT CARS BACK TO BACK. THE CAR IS ALSO LEAKING COOLANT AND YOU CAN SMELL IT IN THE CABIN. FROM WHAT I READ THIS IS HAZARDOUS. THIS HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED BY THE DEALER AND THEY JUST TRY TO COVER IT UP BY TOPPING OFF THE COOLANT. IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE A SEALED PRESSURIZED SYSTEM. MY LAST PROBLEM IS THE REAR HATCH DOES NOT ALWAYS CLOSE PROPERLY OR ALL THE WAY. TOLD BY SHOP FOREMAN THAT THERE WAS AN "ADVISORY" TO CHANGE OUT THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE REAR HATCH ON. DASHBOARD DIMMER SWITCH DOES NOT WORK. MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER IN THE DAYLIGHT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. DEALER STATES THAT'S THE WAY IT WAS DESIGNED.

WHILE DAD WAS LOADING CAR FOR VACATION, 3 YEAR OLD GRANDSON SITTING ON RUNNING BOARD WHEN IT RETRACTED. TINY FINGERS NARROWLY ESCAPED AS RETRACTION OF BOARDS HAVE NO SAFETY CLEARANCE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC LIFTGATE SOFTWARE SYSTEM WAS FAULTY. THERE WAS NO REMEDY FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED.
