Owner of 2016 MKZ Hybrid 65870 miles Loss of electronic power steering and Advance Trac Soon after replacement of Bolt under recall 19R02 I heard friction/grinding when turning steering wheel. Oct 1, 2021 I contacted Parks Lincoln of Tampa for a diagnostic and they told me the steering rack assembly would need to be replaced. On November 6,2021 I lost physical steering ability. I had my car towed to dealership, needed to replace the steering gear box assembly, 2 tie rods, and an alignment for $4156. I researched the NHTSA website and noted in July 2015 that 393,623 were impacted by recall 15V340, Ford No 15S18. No recalls have existed for same issue for MKZ vehicles built after 2012. This is a safety recall issue for driver and all vehicles in its path.
Our power steering went out while driving into town. I'm lucky my husband was driving because it was so hard to turn the car to get to a safe location. Honolulu Ford stated we have a faulty steering rack and there is a recall for this issue 19V632000 but our car is not on the recall because the state we purchased is not listed. We purchased the car in Alaska and we currently live in Hawaii. We now have to pay $3600 dollars to have the car fixed. Since there is a recall in the system for the same exact problem that happened why are we paying to fix our car? The dealership is not providing a car of us and now we have to rent a car until ours is repaired.
The contact owned a 2016 Lincoln MKZ. The contact stated while exiting her employer's parking lot when the vehicle began to accelerate independently and she started to smell a burning smell. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated she was depressing the brake pedal to the floor and pressed the Park button but the vehicle continued to accelerate and move forward. The contact also stated the steering wheel seized when she crashed into a wooden guard rail, a metal fence, and a chain-link fence. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained injuries on the middle of the sternum and her right breast was bruised from the seat belt. The contact did seek medical attention for her swollen feet from depressing the brake pedal forcefully. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The insurance company deemed the vehicle a total loss. The vehicle was towed to a towing lot. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 21,000. The VIN was not available.
The contact owns a 2016 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the power steering failed causing the steering wheel to become very difficult to turn in either direction. During the failure, the service advanced track and service headlights message was displayed on the instrument panel. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was included in the NHTSA campaign number 19V632000 (Steering). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 53,000.
I SEE PAINT BUBBLE ON MY 2016 MKZ HOOD. IS
PTU (POWER TRANSFER UNIT) KEEPS FAILING INITIALLY LINCOLN STATED IT WASN'T A SERVICEABLE PART. NO DRAIN PLUG PRESENT. IF LEFT UNCHECKED OR SERVICED BY SUCKING OUT THE OIL THAT GETS BURNT BECAUSE OF HEAT FROM THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE WITH ONLY 1 QUART OF 70/140 FUILD IT COULD SEIZE UP AND CAUSE CATASTROPHIC FAILURE THE PTU COULD EITHER BUST OPEN OR LOCK UP CAUSING A SEVERE ACCIDENT AS THE PTU IS JUST THE THE RIGHT OF THE GAS PEDDLE UNDER YOUR FOOT. SIMCE THERE ISN'T A FIX FORM THIS PART IT MUST BE WARRANTIED FOR LIFE FLUID CHANGED ANNUALLY PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW. THEY ATTEMPTED A FIX IN 2018 WITH A WATER JACKET ATTACHED TO THE SIDE I HAVE SEEN PTUS WITH 25,000 MILES ON THEM ALREADY TURNING BLACK. THE OIL IS AN AMBER SEE THROUGH COLOR NEW. THE PTU SITS IN A 5 SIDED BOX COOKING AWAY EVERYTIME YOU DRIVE IT THERE ISN'T EVEN ANY PASSIVE AIRFLOW OVER IT ON 2016 AND 2017 MKZ'S AND FORD FUSIONS AND FORD EXPLORERS ALL HAVING ALL TIME AWD

HEATED SEAT MODULE PROGRAMMING PUT OUT TOO MUCH CURRENT AND MELTED WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE SEAT. LUCKILY IT DIDN'T START A FIRE. THE CALIBRATION FIRMWARE HAS AN UPDATE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, BUT I WAS UNAWARE BECAUSE THERE IS NO RECALL OR SERVICE WARNING. IF THEY HAVE A FIX FOR IT, WHY NOT NOTIFY FOLKS. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN I SMELLED BURNING. A VIDEO FROM THE DEALER CAN BE SEEN HERE: HTTPS://YOUTU.BE/1AVTHV3T_XG

MY AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY RESULTING IN ME HAVING LIFE-LONG INJURIES. I HAD A CAR ACCIDENT IN AUGUST 31ST, 2017. I T-BONED A VEHICLE THAT CAME OUT OF A PARKING LOT ILLEGALLY RESULTING IN THE ACCIDENT. NO RECALLS NOTICED ON THIS AUTO. NO AIRBAG ISSUES AS YET AM I ELIGIBLE TO JOIN THE CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT. IS THERE A FORM I MUST FILL OUT? 2016 LINCOLN MKZ VIN # [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
THE 2016 MKZ HYBRID DOES NOT COME WITH A SPARE TIRE. THIS WAS NOT TOLD TO ME WHEN THE CAR WAS PURCHASED. THE ABSENCE OF A SPARE TIRE PUTS ONE IN DANGER. THIS SHOULD BE WELL DOCUMENTED AT TIME OF PURCHASE. THEY PROVIDE A SPRAY CAN OF JUNK THAT IS USELESS UNLESS YOU HAVE A PIN IN YOUR TIRE. ANY DAMAGE TO THE TIRE AND YOU ARE STRANDED UNTIL YOU CAN GET TO A TIRE OUTLET THAT HAS THE TIRE YOU NEED. IT IS A DISGRACE THAT ON A LUXURY VEHICLE THIS ABSENCE PUTS YOU AT RISK. CAN YOU IMAGINE BEING STRANDED ON OPEN HIGHWAY AT 2 IN THE MORNING. IF TRIPLE AAA COMES YOU NEED TO BE PUT ON A FLATBED BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE A TIRE TO CHANGE. THIS IS A DANGEROUS AND SERIOUS MATTER THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY LINCOLN MOTOR COMPANY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 LINCOLN MKZ HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE HORN WAS DEPRESSED TO ALERT ANOTHER MOTORIST, BUT IT FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED A REDUCED PRICE FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 69,801.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 LINCOLN MKZ. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V167000 (STEERING); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT CALLED ALLAN VIGIL FORD AT 673-364-3673 (LOCATED AT 6790 MT ZION BLVD, MORROW, GA 30260) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

SEATBELT LOCKS UP AND DOES NOT ALLOW FOR DRIVER TO BUCKLE UP. HAPPENS AT VARIOUS TIMES WHILE VEHICLE IS ON OR OFF., BOTH ON PARK POSITION AND OR DRIVE.
AT 10,740 MILES, WE REPLACED TWO TIRES ALREADY DUE TO BULGES IN THE TIRE SIDEWALL. LINCOLN IS NOT ADDRESSING THIS SERIOUS DEFECT OF LOW TIRE PRESSURE AND AIR LEAKS IN THE TIRES. THIS IS AN ELEVATED SAFETY RISK AS VEHICLE BECOMES UNSTABLE AND HARD TO CONTROL AT LOW AIR PRESSURE. A NEW CAR SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM, BUT SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WERE NOTED ONLINE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS SAFETY HAZARD AS MICHELIN SAYS IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM AND LINCOLN BLAMES THE CUSTOMER HITTING POTHOLES WHICH WE DON'T EVEN RECALL HAPPENING. A VIDEO ONLINE ILLUSTRATES HOW TIRE SIDEWALL BULGES CAN OCCUR EASILY WITH UNDER INFLATED TIRES IF THE CAR RUNS OVER A CURB OR HITS A POTHOLE. WE ARE SENIOR CITIZENS, 72 AND 67, AND DRIVE CAREFULLY, TYPICALLY BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT. WE HAVE NEVER HAD THIS EXPERIENCE WITH ANY CARS DURING OUR LIFETIME. PLEASE PERFORM AN INVESTIGATION TO HALT THIS SERIOUS DEFECT THAT THE MANUFACTURER WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE. LIVES ARE IN DANGER DUE TO DIFFICULTY IN CONTROL AND AN UNSTABLE VEHICLE WITH UNDER INFLATED TIRES. A BLOWOUT COULD BE FATAL.
SAFETY RECALL NOT COMPLETED I FEAR I WILL GET INTO A CRASH AND BE KILLED FROM FLYING METAL FROM AIR BAG. WHAT IS GOING ON? WHY IS THIS NOT TAKEN CARE OF?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 LINCOLN MKZ HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE REAR MIDDLE PASSENGER SEAT BELT WOULD NOT LATCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LATCH NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SEAT BELT SHOULDER HARNESS WOULD TIGHTEN WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 58,000.
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE THE HIGHWAY THE ENGINE WENT TO LOW IDLE. THE PLACES THE OPERATOR IN A VERY PRECARIOUS SITUATION WHEN TRYING TO NAVIGATE THE CAR TO TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. AT ISSUE WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. FORD AND LINCOLN SEEM TO KNOW THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE. THERE SHOULD BE A SERVICE BULLETIN OR A RECALL FOR THE ISSUE. FORD HAS NOTHING UP ON THEIR WEB SITE.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN THE CARPOOL LANE GOING APPROXIMATELY 75-80 MPH IN THE EXPRESS LANE ON THE 405 FREEWAY IN THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES THE VEHICLE WENT INTO SUDDEN DE-EXCELERATION TO 20 MPH WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE CAR SHOWED DEFAULT CODES AND NO MATTER WHAT I DID THE CAR WOULD NOT GO ANY FASTER THAN 20 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALLED FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 LINCOLN MKZ. WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT CRASHED THE VEHICLE INTO A POLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH MOTION SENSORS TO STOP THE VEHICLE WHEN AN OBJECT WAS NEAR, BUT THEY FAILED TO OPERATE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
